Could WWE get “The Band” back together?

If I told you in 2013 that all three members of 3MB would win gold in less than half a decade, who’d probably laugh in my face or call an insane asylum. Then, if I told you two of those members would hold main event championships in 2017… well, you get the idea.

Back in the day, there was a three man group of performers involving Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal, and Drew Mcintyre. The group was notorious for their lack of wins, the abundance of meaningless losses, and their sheer lack of impact on the WWE. But now, with all three men enjoying some level of success during this New Era, getting the band back together would be an interesting concept.

Each member is far better off now than they were when they were together, and Drew is due to reach the apex we knew he could get to. Jinder hasn’t been the most popular man with his run as champion, but a union with Drew and Heath could change that. Slater has gotten the short end of the stick, despite being the one to stay with the company, but his late 2016 run invested fans and proved he can be a fan favorite. This mix would be much better than their original run, add in the fact Jinder and Drew are in the main event.

It remains to be seen if Jinder and recover from losing the WWE Championship, or if Slater can regain his momentum from last year’s tag team run with Rhyno. Nonetheless, Mcintyre is being groomed to be a huge star in the WWE upon his return, just as he was during his first run, and now with Jinder elevated to a higher status the odds of a reunion are higher than ever.

Each member has talked about the group in certain interviews and podcasts, with Jinder outright stating their would be a 3MB reunion. How this would go about however is up in the air, as the three members are located on different brands, but that can be easily rectified with Drew’s call up to the main roster and a shake-up or trade. Or perhaps it will be a “one night only” match on a duel-branded PPV or a backstage segment on a Tribute to the Troops show. Either way, the only question is, would the fans welcome such a return?
