Can anyone equal the legacy of Shawn Michaels with the way WWE is heading? Have wrestlers beyond WWE already surpassed it?

This week, The Doc is joined by frequent social media sparring partner and long-time friend, Rey Ca$h of TheChairShot.com. Both claim Shawn Michaels as their all-time favorite wrestlers, but they are not on the same page about much else these days.

What you will hear today is a discussion about whether or not, ten years removed from his post-WrestleMania XXVI retirement, HBK is still the in-ring greatest of all time. It is important to remember how much wrestling has changed in the past decade and how much it continues to change today. When Michaels retired, for instance, it seemed logical to think that WWE – like the NBA – would be the only supplier of candidates to challenge Mr. WrestleMania. As Doc and Rey conclude, however, that is decidedly no longer the case.

The Big Five Project returns to cover one of the worst PPVs of all time, King of the Ring 1995. Seriously, this is an event that kind of makes WrestleMania IX look good by comparison. Vince McMahon had all the elements in place to make this an event to remember. Well, it was an event to remember for all the wrong reasons. The bracket for the King of the Ring tournament was pretty solid. But bad matches and even worse booking decisions led us to the crowning of….King Mabel? Oh, and if that was not bad enough, Vince threw Bret “Hitman” Hart, the best wrestler in the company, into a meaningless Kiss My Foot match with Jerry “The King” Lawler. The fact that match was one of the better matches on the card tells you so much of what you need to know, and we have not event talked about the Main Event pitting the WWF Champion Diesel, and his tag team partner, Bam Bam Bigelow, against Sycho Sid and Tatanka in a match that redefined the word meaningless. If you are asking why….well you are not the only ones as we asked ourselves the same question over and over during this PPV that really epitomizes just how rough things were in WWF during the first half of 1995. Rob returns to the show and joins Dave, DJ, and PC Tunney to cover it all for you here, so you don’t have to watch it yourself. You can thank us later.
