HPW and HPX set the scene!
The future of three titles will be determined in one night! First, the Living Blade lost his cool after losing yet another match. Ghirahim Mazokucho attacked Groose just as The Skyloft Stud was victorious over King Bulblin. To Ghirahim, Groose is not worthy of holding a championship, but has to prove it in the match! Will Groose be knocked off the top of Death Mountain already?
Second, the HPW Women’s Division finally has the spotlight again! The Princess of Hyrule was barred from the Triforce Championship, but her amended win-loss record still keeps her in the running for the Goddes Championship! But given those revelations, Zelda has a rematch with an opponent who beat her under controversial circumstances. The Black Sorceress, Cia, looks to lead her Dark Forces by example, but can she defeat a 100% focused Zelda?
And lastly, the Triforce Champion awaits a challenger! Link has been patiently waiting, and also doing appearances with media and fans, while HPW has sorted out the issue of contention. The Gerudo Ace, Ganondorf Dragmire, has also had a very easy time training and waiting for this moment. He takes on the Ruler of Ruin in tonight’s main event! Will he earn a rematch with Link for the summer? Or will he simply #FallToRuin? HPW Akkala starts now!
HPW Death Mountain Championship: Groose VS Ghirahim!
As he makes his entrance, The Skyloft Stud struts his stuff down the ramp, showing off the new side plates on the title. Ghirahim seems only further annoyed by all of this as he paces in the ring. The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and this golden opener begins!
Ghirahim immediately shotgun dropkicks Groose into the corner! Fans are shocked and booing as Ghirahim stomps a mudhole and grinds his boots into Groose. The ref counts but Ghirahim lets up at 4, only to come back for more. The ref backs Ghirahim off but Ghirahim runs corner to corner to hit a BIG basement dropkick! Ghirahim drags Groose out of the corner and covers, TWO! Ghirahim kicks Groose while he’s down and demand he get up. Groose flounders against the ropes, and Ghirahim KICKS him in the leg! Groose stumbles towards the corner and Ghirahim stomps another mudhole. The ref counts and Ghirahim stops at 4 as fans boo. Ghirahim drags Groose up to CHOP against buckles. And CHOPS! And CHOPS!
Ghirahim backs off at the ref’s count of 4, and goes back, only to walk into Groose’s JAB! Fans chant “GROOSE! GROOSE!” as Groose jabs again and again. Ghirahim ducks a jab and throws body shots. Groose swings into Ghirahim’s spin for a DDT! Cover, TWO! Ghirahim pushes Groose around, toying with him. Fans rally for Groose and that angers Ghirahim. Ghirahim shouts at them, “How can you cheer someone that looks like a giant rooster?!” Ghirahim turns around into a SPINE BUSTER! Groose staggers but he grabs Ghirahim’s legs. Groose catapults Ghirahim into buckles! Ghirahim staggers into another SPINE BUSTER! Groose uses another catapult to send Ghirahim into more buckles! Fans fire up as Groose underhooks Ghirahim from behind.
Groose turns Ghirahim but Ghirahim pushes him away. Ghirahim dodges Groose’s clothesline and CHOPS again! Groose JABS, but Ghirahim CHOPS back. They go back and forth, JAB, CHOP, JAB, CHOP! “GROOSE!” CHOP! “GROOSE!” CHOP! Groose clutches the stinging spot on his chest Ghirahim reels back to chop. Groose put up his right hand and Ghirahim hesitates, JAB! Ghirahim staggers and Groose tries the underhooks again. Ghirahim drops and arm-drags Groose out of the ring! Groose gets up on the apron but Ghirahim step-up KNEES Groose back! Groose tumbles to the ground and staggers to his feet. Ghirahim builds speed and DIVES! He sends Groose into the railing but goes back into the ring. Ghirahim runs and DIVES again! Another hit into the railing but Ghirahim keeps going! Ghirahim goes for the hat trick, and DIVES into the Right Hand of the Goddess!
Both men crash ‘n’ burn and fans are losing their minds! The referee goes out to check on both men, but somehow they’re okay to continue. The ref starts a ring count while fans rally for Groose. Groose sits up at 4 and pushes Ghirahim away. Ghirahim gets up at 6 as Groose goes to the ring. Ghirahim CHOPS Groose in the back! Groose staggers down and Ghirahim gets in the ring. Ghirahim hears the ring count reach 8 and celebrates on his knees. But Groose gets to the apron at 9, and gets in at 9.9! Ghirahim’s joy turns to anger as he glares over his shoulder at Groose. He storms over to Groose, RIGHT HAND OF THE GODDESS!! Groose underhooks and turns Ghirahim, LOFT WING DRIVER! Cover, TWO!?! Groose is in shock! His best moves have failed him! He tries to think of what else he can do.
Groose signals for the spin and fans fire up again. Groose drags Ghirahim up to a fireman’s carry and starts spinning, but Ghirahim slips off. Ghirahim dodges Groose and springboards, GHIRA- NO! Groose catches Ghirahim in a waistlock! GERMAN SUPLEX! But Ghirahim lands on his feet!! SUPERKICK! Groose staggers and Ghirahim springboards, GHIRA CUTTER!! Cover, Ghirahim wins!!
Winner: Ghirahim Mazokucho, by pinfall (NEW HPW Death Mountain Champion)
Groose has fallen off the summit! He is no longer champion, and now Ghirahim stands tall! The referee brings him the Death Mountain Championship belt, but Ghirahim refuses to touch it. Ghirahim grabs his cloak and uses that to hold the title. He sets the belt down on the mat then covers it with the cloak. Ghirahim calls for a mic and the ref hands him one.
“I toooold yoooou!” Ghirahim said Groose wasn’t worthy, and he just proved it to the world! But at the same time, there is something Groose said that was actually true. The Death Mountain Championship is too ugly to adorn the “PERFECTION~” that is Ghirahim’s body! He can’t even look at it, so he covered it up. But now, using his powers of “fabulous darkness,” the title will become… “EXQUISITE~!” Ghirahim yanks his cloak off the belt and…
The Death Mountain belt is gone and this is in its place! The crowd audibly reacts with gasps and other noises of disgust and even fear. Ghirahim is furious with them as he picks up his title. How dare they disrespect such beauty!? This is a FAR superior belt compared to the Death Mountain title! From hence forth, Ghirahim shall consider himself the HPW Exquisite Champion! Ghirahim has the referee strap this title around his waist, and Ghirahim takes his leave. Who will be the first to challenge Ghirahim for this redesigned championship? Will anyone even want to challenge him for it?
HPW Goddess Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Cia w/ The Dark Forces VS Zelda!
Zelda’s ring gear is neither Sheik’s bodysuit nor the pink-and-white shorts and top she normally wears. She has combined the designs to have pink-and-blue spandex pants and long sleeve top, but still baring her midriff like her women’s gear. Cia’s gear is still the same as its ever been with the dark purple and gold trim, with one leg of her tights long and the other very, very short. But the concern is having The Dark Forces ringside. Having Wizzro, Volga, Gibdo and ReDead around is a bit much. And not just because referee Malon Lon Lon is frightened by Gibdo and ReDead. The ref tells them to sort out who is staying as Cia’s corner man, but Zelda goes up the corner and LEAPS! Crossbody bowls The Dark Forces over! Cia is furious but the referee keeps the peace. Zelda gets in the ring and this match officially begins!
Cia glares at Zelda as the two approach. They tie up and go around the ring and on the ropes. They end up in a corner and Cia complains about the ropebreak. The ref has Zelda back off, and Cia SLAPS Zelda! Zelda goes after Cia but Cia uses the ropes for defense. The ref backs Zelda up again and Cia laughs as she slips out of the ring. The ref tells Cia to get back in the ring but Cia waves her off. Cia takes her time as the ring count starts, but Zelda slides out the other side. Zelda runs up behind Cia and RAMS her into barriers! Fans fire up as Zelda kicks Cia’s legs out from under her. Zelda drags Cia up and into the ring. Zelda goes after an arm but Cia rolls and arm-drags Zelda down into an armlock. Cia cranks on the shoulder but Zelda endures.
Zelda rolls, handsprings and wrenches Cia back, but Cia pulls Zelda’s hair! The ref reprimands but Cia POSTS Zelda instead! Fans boo as Cia drags Zelda out of the ring and throws her into barriers in return. Cia bumps Zelda off the apron and throws her back into barriers! The ref reprimands and starts a ring count but Cia digs her boot into Zelda’s neck! The ref goes out and pulls Cia off Zelda. Malon warns Cia to do what she says since she’s the referee. Cia “apologizes” before she brings Zelda up. She puts Zelda in the ring and stalks after her as she crawls. Cia pulls Zelda up by her hair and puts her on the ropes to choke! She lets up at the ref’s count of 4 but she kicks the rope to jam Zelda in the throat! Zelda gasps and sputters while the ref reprimands Cia again.
Cia cranks on Zelda’s head with a facelock then drags her back to ropes. She puts Zelda through the ropes and drags her out on them. Zelda flails and avoids the draping DDT, and then dumps Cia up and over! Zelda catches her breath, still sputtering, while Cia slowly gets up off the floor. The Dark Forces have recovered and Wizzro coaches Cia up. The referee again tells the Dark Forces to sort out and send others to the back, and Wizzro tells the others to leave. Volga leads ReDead and Gibdo away while Cia gets up on the apron. Zelda storms over but Cia stays in the ropes for defense. The ref has Zelda stay back and Cia slowly gets back in the ring. Cia and Zelda circle again then tie up. Cia pulls hair yet again, and the ref reprimands her yet again as Cia puts Zelda on the ropes. Zelda and Cia start getting chippy with each other and the ref has to get between them.
Cia protests, claiming Zelda got her in the eye. But this is a distraction so that Wizzro can swipe at Zelda! Zelda avoids the sneak attack and fans boo, but Cia comes up behind with a roll up! TWO and Cia basement dropkicks Zelda down! Cover, TWO! Cia grows frustrated but Wizzro coaches her. Cia stalks up behind Zelda and wraps on another armlock. She adds a chinbar, and even digs her forearm in Zelda’s face. Cia stops because referee Malon’s patience is being tested. Fans rally up and Zelda fights her way up. Zelda throws body shots but Cia knees low. Cia snapmares Zelda and KICKS her in the back! Cia grabs an arm and wraps it around Zelda in a half straitjacket. Zelda reaches around for Cia but Cia grabs the other arm. Cia digs her knee into Zelda’s back and completes the straitjacket.
Zelda endures and fans rally up. Zelda’s been in this position before as Sheik, and she fights her way up. Zelda uses Cia’s knee to pivot and roll to put the straitjacket on Cia. Cia powers up and turns it around, but Zelda turns it back. Cia drops, bridges and spins to put the hold back on Zelda and sits Zelda down! Zelda rolls again and puts the jacket back on Cia, and now Cia is getting furious. Wizzro coaches Cia and she powers back up again. Cia wiggles the jacket down and slips it back on Zelda! But Zelda does the same, wiggling out to put Cia right back in the jacket! Fans cheer all this back and forth as Cia wiggles out again, but Zelda uses this to pump handle and flip Cia over to enziguri! Cover, TWO!
Zelda keeps her focus and goes after Cia’s legs. Cia pushes Zelda away and leaps up, satellite DDT! Cover, TWO! Cia grabs Zelda’s arm to drop a leg on it, then traps it in a hammerlock. Zelda reaches for ropes but Cia grabs her that arm and pulls it back. Fans are freaking out already, and Cia SNAPS Zelda’s arm back!! Zelda flails and kicks as she screams in pain. She ends up by the ropes and the referee checks on her. Wizzro applauds and Cia bows but the fans boo. Zelda shouts at Malon not to end the match, but she’s still clutching her arm. Malon keeps Cia back while calling in an HPW medic. They check on Zelda and Cia lounges on the top rope, blowing kisses to the fans who are still booing.
Zelda winces and tears up as the medic checks her shoulder. She can still move her fingers but she bites her lip to fight the pain. Cia and Wizzro get bored of waiting and Wizzro walks over. Wizzro complains but the medic and Malon tell him to stay back. But it’s Cia who rushes over and grabs at Zelda! Fans boo harder as Cia drags Zelda by a leg. Zelda kicks Cia away but Cia drops on her with elbows and forearms! Cia hammers away on Zelda’s bad arm but Zelda fights back with her good arm. Cia grabs the bad arm and wrenches it back to a hammerlock. She wants Zelda’s one good arm! Zelda flails and kicks and gets a ropebreak with her leg! Cia lets go to appease the ref, but then goes right back after the bad arm. She WRINGS Zelda’s arm out, driving her into the mat! Zelda screams again as she flounders to a corner. Cia is after Zelda again, but Malon backs her up right away.
Wizzro gets up and grabs at Zelda again, but he gets a HYLIAN KISS! The headbutt sends Wizzro crashing down onto camera crew! Cia ROUNDHOUSES the bad arm! BACKSTABBER and roll through, BLACK MAGIC! Zelda flails and reaches with her free arm, but Cia grabs it and adds on in a half straitjacket! Cia cranks back and Zelda starts fading! Zelda’s OUT, Cia wins!!
Winner: Cia, by submission (NEW HPW Goddess Championship #1 Contender)
Malon has to pull Cia off of Zelda, and fans are utterly shocked! Cia is just screaming, “I TOLD YOU!” She’s starting to sound like Ghirahim… Wizzro gets in the ring to raise Cia’s hand while the referee is busy checking on Zelda. Zelda sputters and coughs as she revives, and both Cia and Wizzro laugh at her.
But wait! On the titantron! The Twilight Emblem!
The literally impish Midna slowly pokes her head up from the bottom of the screen as the image clears up. “Oh, is it over already? Hmm, I expected more from the Princess of Hyrule. But I expected nothing less of the Dark Sorceress and her cronies.” Midna’s so jealous of Cia having cronies to cheat for her. It makes things so easy, doesn’t it? Fans laugh and that upsets Cia. “But cronies won’t make you a goddess, and it won’t make you a champion. You’ll see what I mean, when you open your eyes and see the twilight.” Midna holds up the HPW Goddess Championship with her prehensile hair while having a very sinister grin. Will she still be grinning and holding onto that title after taking on the darkness?
HPW Triforce Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Ganondorf Dragmire VS Igos du Ikana!
The Gerudo Ace was always meant to be in this scenario, especially if you asked him. But because of controversy, Zelda was moved aside and a new contender in the Ruler of Ruin was allowed to rise. But will Igos be the one to #FalltoRuin tonight?
The bell rings and the fans are already thunderous as the two men simply stare down from opposite corners. Ganondorf smirks and talks smack while Igos is stone faced serious. The two finally step forward and start circling. They tie up, and Ganondorf keeps Igos at a stand still before shoving him back. Ganondorf chuckles as Igos gets up. The two circle and tie up again, Ganondorf tosses Igos to a corner, but Igos dodges the corner clothesline. Ganondorf turns around but narrowly avoids the Elegy of Emptiness! Ganondorf turns and looks down at Igos, who simply looks up at Ganondorf over his shoulder. Igos ducks under Ganondorf’s Penalty Kick and gets a leg takedown! Igos goes for a kneebar but Ganondorf gets the ropebreak! The ref counts and Igos lets up at 4, but Ganondorf kicks Igos low! The ref reprimands and fans boo but Ganondorf grabs Igos for a suplex TOSS! He throws Igos across the ring but keeps on him in a corner. Ganondorf hoists Igos up top and CHOPS him! Ganondorf then climbs up top. Igos resists the superplex and the two start throwing hands. Igos clubs Ganondorf down and adjusts, but Ganondorf CHOPS him again! Ganondorf grabs Igos’ legs and drags him off the top rope. He swings Igos for an INVERTED HEBRA SLAM! Cover, TWO!
Ganondorf pushes Igos around, taunting and toying with him. “Get up! Show me a fight! Show me a fight, Igos!” Igos gets up and puts up his dukes, and Ganondorf swings on him. Igos ducks, throws body shots, bobs ‘n’ weaves more, and kicks at Ganondorf’s leg. He starts up the Ikana Rush and hits the knee thrust! Ganondorf staggers into an arm-drag! Igos has an armlock, mounts and pulls on the fingers, but Ganondorf rolls Igos up! TWO, and Igos still has the arm, TERMINA ARMBAR! Igos cranks back but Ganondorf crawls and gets the ropebreak with his leg! Igos lets go at 4, and then PENALTY KICKS the arm out! Ganondorf gets to a corner but Igos is after him with a forearm smash! Igos throws more forearms, body shots and kicks but Ganondorf shoves him away with his good arm. Fight me!” Ganondorf stalks Igos to the ropes and then to a corner. He stomps a mudhole into Igos but lets up at the ref’s count of 4. Ganondorf again hoists Igos up top and climbs up to join him. Ganondorf again tries for the superplex but Igos again resists. Igos ROCKS Ganondorf with a right, and Ganondorf ends up in a Tree of Woe!
Igos shakes out the cobwebs and adjusts, but Ganondorf sits up to SUPER OVERHEAD SUPLEX!! Fans are losing their minds as Igos writhes. Ganondorf frees himself from the Tree of Woe and shakes out his legs. He hobbles over to Igos and brings him up to CHOP! Ganondorf shakes out the bad arm, and Igos CHOPS back! Then he Electric Chair lifts Igos then spins him around for a SIT-OUT GANON BOMB!! Cover, Ganondorf wins!
Winner: Ganondorf Dragmire, by pinfall (NEW #1 Contender to the HPW Triforce Championship)
The Ruler of Ruin falls and the Gerudo Ace has another shot at the Triforce Championship! Ganondorf gets a mic to speak. “Igos may be King of Ikana, but an ace always trumps a king!” Most fans boo but Ganondorf ignores them. “And now, Link, oh ‘Hero of Hyrule,’ you and I will settle this one on one.” Ganondorf doesn’t care about the rulings, he doesn’t care if Sheik was Zelda. Ganondorf just cares about how a Triple Threat doesn’t settle anything because of the third person being a factor. He and Link, 1v1, that match will determine who is truly the best in Hyrule! And Ganondorf vows that will be him! Ganondorf vows power will reign absolute, but can power truly crush courage?
My Thoughts:
Was this a really good event? I sure hope so, with three big singles matches, each longer than the last for that massive main event. All the Heels won tonight! That sounds pretty grim for the future of Hyrule, especially with Ghirahim making a title based on himself. I tried to make it as ugly as I could while still matching the character’s overall look. In fact, the strap resembles his sash in a way.
I was conflicted on Zelda’s match. She is on an alternate route now that she is out of the world title story, but clearly in the end, I decided she couldn’t just be fighting for another title already. Zelda will take her time recovering from the Triforce Triple Threat while Midna gets time to shine. Credit to Photomosh for great gif making filters, allowing me to properly portray Midna as a cross between hacker and supernatural.
And of course, Ganondorf beats Igos, he’s Ganondorf. The epic rematch of Link and Ganondorf is coming, but not right away. Expect another “news” article soon, to announce what is next for these titles, and HPW in general. I’ve got ambitious plans now that we’re moving into Summer.

Bandwagon Nerds #263: Dawn Patrol
BWN continues its coverage of Game 7 featuring the 1987 Stanley Cup Final between the Oilers and Flyers, plus Star Wars continues to frustrate its fan base.
At the request of 2/3 of this week’s Bandwagon, the Nerds convened for an extra early morning recording of BWN this week. The guys continued their coverage of Game 7, and hockey took center stage as we went back in time to look at Game 7 of the 1987 Stanley Cup Finals between the Philadelphia Flyers and Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers dismantled the Flyers in the 1985 Cup Final. Things were much different in 1987 as the Oilers tried to establish their dynasty, and the young, fearless Flyers did all they could to prevent it. The Trailer Park was stripped down this week, but the guys looked at the big reveal for What If Season 3, Cameron Diaz’s return to action movies, and a fun look at Univeral’s Epic Universe, coming to Orlando this May. In News Around the Nerdosphere, it appears Denzel Washington is on the brink of an MCU debut, details for the Fantastic Four movie were revealed, and Star Wars continues to make news….for all the wrong reasons.

Hockey Talk- The Hall Finally Calls [111224]
Hockey Talk celebrates Jeremy Roenick finally getting inducted into the Hall of Fame 16 years after his last game and Patrick has some issues with his Blues.
On this week’s edition of Hockey Talk, Patrick is disgusted with his St. Louis Blues after they were throttled by Dave’s Washington Capitals over the weekend. As always, the guys discuss the trajectory of both their squads as we near the quarter-point of the season. Also this week, the guys discuss Tage Thompson setting a new record for the hardest shot ever fired in a game and discuss the latest additions to the Hockey Hall of Fame, including a very overdue induction for one of America’s all-time great players, Jeremy Roenick
Today’s hosts are Dave Ungar (@AttitudeAgg) and Patrick O’Dowd (@WrestlngRealist).
- Patrick is fed up with his Blues
- Can Alex Ovechkin score 50 goals this year?
- The Hall of Fame finally calls for Jeremy Roenick
- Tage Thomson sets a new record for hardest/fastest shot
