Welcome the NEW North American Champion, Carmelo Hayes!

The TWO-TIME A Champion heads out with Trick Williams by his side. Melo opens his letterman’s jacket to reveal his belt is back around his waist after defeating and dethroning Cameron Grimes. Trick gets the mic first to say that at least, things are back to normal. Melo is North American Champion, Trick’s baby, Harpy is single, and the Warriors are about to beat the Celtics! C’mon, man, Melo’s from Boston. Is he? He is. Well sorry about that, but the point is everyone needs to make some noise for your two-time North American Champion! Fans boo but Melo treats it like cheering as he thanks them

And first thing’s first, Melo gives credit to Grimes bringing the best version of himself to give Melo one of the toughest matches of his life. But the goal was always getting back to this title, and now he is the goal! Melo doesn’t chase dreams, dreams chase him. He is what everyone else aspires to be! As he looks around at the crowd, seeing the scrubs in the building, they wish they could do what he does. Every time they shoot their shots, they miss! Melo is standing at the top of his accomplishments while you losers are reaching for their goals! Melo said that to say this: “I am the most illustrious NXT North American Champion in history! And let’s be real, y’all, I got right now.”

But speaking of this title, here comes Solo Sikoa! Fans chant for “SO~LO!” and Solo tells Melo, congrats on the win at In Your House. But no one wants to hear all that. Fans know it, Solo says this is 2.0, where it’s less talking and more fighting. But Solo will keep this short and sweet. He’s got next! Trick tells Solo to hold on. That was between Solo and the former champion. That agreement is no longer relevant, brother. And to keep it all real, Solo bet on the wrong one. Solo asks if they see any kind of fear in his eyes. The answer is hell now! Solo has Melo’s number! Melo knows it, Trick knows it, everyone else knows it!

But wait, here comes Grayson Waller! He wants everyone to hold on. Who the hell does Solo think he is? He ain’t famous enough to have Melo’s number. And even if Solo did, Melo would leave him on voicemail! And just so everyone knows, Waller doesn’t care about anyone’s blood type. Doesn’t matter who Solo’s daddy is, who his brothers are, or his cousins, nieces, nephews or aunties! Solo doesn’t get opportunities just because he wants one. Fans want Waller to “Shut the Hell Up!” but Waller says those putting up a finger, that’s just the number of friends you have! And newsflash: mom doesn’t count! No one here has friends, and neither does Solo.

Waller says no one is friends with Solo, that’s why that’s his name. Solo gives Waller a newsflash: “Shut the Hell up!” Fans fire up and Solo tells Waller that he fights alone in the ring, but not tonight, because he has the fans. Fans cheer for that, too! Solo sees Waller wants, and if he wants to fight, then let’s go! Solo DECKS Trick, DECKS Melo, brawls with Waller, but he ends up in a 3v1! Fans boo as Waller and the others all stomp Solo, then Waller gets Solo up for a DDT! Refs rush out and they get Waller, Melo and Trick to leave. Will the Street Champion fight his way up until he gets the North American Champion 1v1?

The Don arrives to the arena.

And because he, Stacks and Two Dimes won, Legado has to be their assistants. Cruz drives, Santos opens the door for Tony, and Joaquin gets the bags. Tony asks if Santos took care of that thing for him, and Santos says the guy promised to have the papers by Friday. Not bad. But what about the other thing? Joaquin says the city hall meeting is this Thursday. But why does Tony want a redistricting- Now, now, you have a lot to learn, kid. But Tony is thinking it is time to get some ring gear on. Santos has a match tonight. Go get ready! Santos is fuming, but he keeps the others from speaking up. They must be men of their word, but will Tony push Legado a little too far?

Von Wagner w/ Robert Stone & Sophia Cromwell VS Josh Briggs w/ Brooks Jensen & Fallon Henley!

Vicious Von has wrecked everyone who has stood in his way, or just simply glanced at Sophia Cromwell. He broke Brooks’ hand over a look, but will Briggs break Von in vengeance? Or will even the bar brawler footballer have to admit this is Wagner’s World and he’s just living in it?

The hands start flying before the bell! The ref backs them off just long enough for the bell, and then the hands start flying again! Briggs gets the edge, backs Von to a corner and fire off more shots. Von shoves but Briggs shoves back to fire more hands! Von bumps Briggs off buckles, gives back hands and even knees and shoulders! The ref counts, Von lets off at 4 but Briggs hits back. Von knees and ROCKS Briggs to another corner, then whips. Briggs reverses to ROCK Von, then whip and CLOBBER him! Fans fire up and Briggs slides out to ROCK Von off the ropes! Stone talks trash but Briggs gets in, only for Von to BOOT Briggs down!

Von bumps Briggs off buckles, fires off more hands, then lets off at 4. Von reels Briggs into a knee, then pulls hair to shout, “My World!” Von BOOTS Briggs again but fans boo. Stone taunts Briggs, Von pushes Briggs around, but Briggs throws body shots and hands! Briggs whips Von to a corner but Von dodges to OLYMPIC SLAM! Cover, TWO! Von snarls but he rains down fists on Briggs. Fans rally behind Briggs but Von gets the arm! Briggs fights back, throws body shots, but Von throws knees. Briggs fires off hands and he DECKS Von! Then BOOTS him back! Fans fire up again as Briggs whips, but Von holds ropes.

Briggs rushes in but Von kicks his leg! Von sends Briggs out, goes out after him, and RAMS Briggs into the apron. Von then gets Brooks’ bad hand and SLAMS it on the apron! Fallon is pissed, but that’s just a distraction so Brooks can take of the cast?! Brooks slides it into the ring for Briggs, and we’re going Cowboy Bob Orton !CAST SMACK! And then LARIAT!! Cover, Briggs wins!!

Winner: Josh Briggs, by pinfall

Stone is furious but his side got suckered in! Briggs avenges Brooks with help from Brooks, will they be turning Wagner’s World upside-down?

Backstage interview with Solo Sikoa.

McKenzie asks how he is doing after that mugging just moments ago. Solo says in the streets, you scrap. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don’t. But it ain’t one of those where you catch them down the road next week or next month. Solo wants BOTH Waller and Melo tonight! So is that a Handicap Match? Hell, if someone wants to join in, they’re Solo’s guest. He doesn’t ask for help, but one way or another, he leaves those bitches the way they left him. Will someone join the Street Champion against Waller and the A Champion?

Andre Chase welcomes Thea Hail to Chase U.

On behalf of the university, he presents a 2022-2023 scholarship to NXT’s newest signee! She thanks them all and is so excited to be here to perfect her craft. They take a class picture, but then Pretty Deadly walk in laughing at them all. Asking teacher for a picture is so embarrassing. They’re embarrassing. Bodhi says that’s true. This picture needs something more. It needs star power! More fashion sense! It needs Pretty Deadly! So they can grab their tag titles- Oh wait! Pretty Deadly lost them! Oh haha, just watch yourselves. Pretty Deadly leave, and Chase says they’ll take the pic now. Chase U on three! Will Pretty Deadly end up on the receiving end of a #TeachableMoment soon enough?

Santos Escobar w/ The D’Angelo Familia VS Nathan Frazer!

The Don is making the Emperor of Lucha earn his keep by having a match he is not prepared for! And it’s against the British Prodigy who took Cameron Grimes to his limits! Will Escobar be able to survive this last second showdown? Or will Frazer take flight at Escobar’s expense?

NXT returns and Tony’s crew sees Legado out for this match. But then Tony tells Cruz & Wilde to go to the back, his guys will handle this. Tony even joins commentary while Escobar circles with Frazer. They tie up, Escobar waistlocks but Frazer gets ropes. The ref counts, Escobar lets off, and he resets with Frazer. They tie up, Escobar arm-drags and has the armlock, fans rally for “Both These Guys!” already. Frazer fights up, but Escobar hits a stiff monkey flip! Frazer gets to ropes to slow things down, and they reset again. They tie up, Escobar waistlocks and SLAMS Frazer! Escobar floats around on Frazer, has the legs and half nelson but Frazer moves around.

Frazer fights up, Escobar waistlocks, Tony says this is getting boring, they should do something else. Frazer switches, shoves, things speed up, Frazer redirects and goes up and over with a flip! Not so boring anymore, huh, Tony? Frazer keeps things moving, he ducks ‘n’ dodges to RANA Escobar to a corner! Fans fire up and Escobar is fuming, glaring at Tony for putting him in this situation. Frazer runs in, Escobar sends him out, and he points at Tony. But then he turns around into Frazer’s missile dropkick! Escobar bails out. Frazer builds speed, but stops when Escobar moves. Tony asks what is going on here! Get in the ring!

Escobar gets in, he scoops Frazer but Frazer slips out to waistlock and O’Conner Roll! TWO, but Frazer rushes in! Escobar puts him out to ENZIGURI him off the apron! Fans fire up and Escobar seethes. Escobar DIVES! Down goes Frazer as the Arrow from Hell hits its mark! Fans are fired up for “LEGADO! LEGADO!” Tony tells Escobar to not do the dive, no one likes that. Fans disagree but NXT goes picture in picture as Escobar argues with his new boss.

Escobar gets in the ring but still glares at Tony. Escobar stomps Frazer, then drops an elbow on Frazer’s back. And another! Escobar drags Frazer up but Frazer throws body shots. Escobar CLUBS, whips and scoops Frazer for a BACKBREAKER! Cover, ONE!! Frazer is showing that toughness, but Escobar gets his legs to turn him over. Escobar sneers as he stares Tony down and drags Frazer to a corner. Escobar wants the legs but Frazer kicks him away. Escobar stomps Frazer down, then drags him up to put him in the corner. Escobar CHOPS Frazer, then brings him around to CLUB in the back.

Escobar goes corner to corner to uppercut Frazer in the back! Frazer writhes and grits his teeth but Escobar stomps him down. Escobar goes out, drags Frazer to the corner and then the ring steps, for a BOSTON CRAB into the post! Frazer endures, the ref counts, and Escobar lets off. Escobar “apologizes” then drags Frazer up and into the ring. Escobar brings Frazer to another corner, and slingshot sentons! Cover, but they’re too close to the ropes! Escobar lets off to pull Frazer into another post! The ref counts, Escobar lets off and “apologizes” again. Escobar gets in to drag Frazer up but Frazer throws body shots.

Escobar CLUBS Frazer, reels him in, but Frazer trips Escobar to jackknife! TWO, and Escobar CLOBBERS Frazer! Escobar kicks Frazer to a corner, brings him up, and then digs his face into buckles. The ref counts, Escobar lets off to CLUB Frazer in the back. NXT is single picture again as Escobar digs Frazer into the buckles again. Escobar lets off, but Frazer starts throwing hands! Frazer backs Escobar down, whips, but Escobar reverses! Frazer tumbles up and down the buckles, then staggers into a tilt-o-whirl BACKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Frazer is still in this, and that frustrates Escobar.

Escobar pulls on Frazer’s leg, then brings him around as fans rally up. Escobar hooks up the legs, punches Frazer to get the arms, and then gets Frazer up in the ROMERO SPECIAL! Frazer endures, fans rally, and Frazer gets his arms free! But Escobar throws him down with the legs! Cover, TWO! Escobar grows frustrated but he stalks Frazer. Frazer gets up, runs in, but Escobar tackles him to get the BOSTON CRAB! Frazer endures, fans rally and duel, and Tony wants Escobar to tighten that hold up. Escobar drags Frazer away, sits deep, but Frazer still claws his way forward! ROPEBREAK! Escobar lets go in frustration and Tony is upset again.

Escobar and Tony argue about how Escobar is wrestling, and Escobar fires the fans up with his whistle. Escobar YANKS Frazer from the ropes but Frazer gets to his feet! Frazer slides under, rolls Escobar up, TWO! Frazer runs in, slips off the scoop, waistlocks but Escobar bucks the O’Conner. They both run, Frazer CLOBBERS Escobar with flying forearms! Fans fire up while both men are down! Frazer gets up as fans rally behind him, and Tony says Escobar is embarrassing the family. Frazer kips up and rallies on Escobar with lariats and forearms! QUEBRADA into ELBOW DROP DDT! Frazer then SHOOTING STARS! Cover, TWO!

Frazer is surprised but he still drags Escobar to a drop zone. Frazer goes up, PHOENIX- NO, he has to roll through as Escobar moves! BIG KNEE from Escobar, fireman’s carries, but Frazer slips off! Escobar dodges and CALF KICKS Frazer out! Then Two Dimes slides him a crowbar? Escobar snarls, he doesn’t want this, and he slides it back! Tony is upset, but Escobar goes over to the ropes. Frazer GAMANGIRIS Escobar and then goes up top! PHOENIX SPLASH!! Cover, Frazer wins!!

Winner: Nathan Frazer, by pinfall

Tony says, “Nice job, moron!” Tony can’t believe Escobar didn’t want to cheat the D’Angelo way. But will this partnership only bring them all down? Or will Escobar bend to do as he’s told?

Backstage interview with Xyon Quinn.

McKenzie asks him about his return last week. But Quinn just says Frazer is another guy carrying a rabbit’s foot wherever he goes. Frazer, Wes Lee, they’re all the same. For seven days straight, Quinn had to watch and listen to Wes Lee’s name be mentioned everywhere. “Wes Lee’s so brave! Wes Lee’s amazing! Did you see Wes Lee’s awesome victory?” Quinn says of that five minute match, Quinn dominated for four minutes and 55 seconds! Those last few seconds were like pulling a rabbit out of a hat, and that’s supposed to be a victory? Not where Quinn’s from. That’s just luck. So when Quinn gets his rematch, it won’t be the same for Cinderella Man.

But hopefully Sanga is there to pick up the pieces, because when Quinn’s down with Wes, he won’t even be conscious. Will Quinn #RunItStraight and break the tie? Or will he end up getting further upset by the Must-See Kid?

Bron Breakker is here!

And he is still NXT Champion after refusing to let Joe Gacy goad him into crossing the line! Fans bark it up as Bron gets the mic. Bron says, “NXT In Your House was a battle. Joe Gacy challenged me mentally, challenged me physically. Hell, he even went after my father, my family, he made things personal! But no matter what Joe Gacy did, he was not taking this NXT Championship away from me!” Bron says that match wasn’t just about him, it was about NXT! This place is special! NXT is special! Fans cheer for that, and Bron says after going through the curtain, he saw the look on everyone’s faces. Everyone wants after the title.

“So the question is… Who’s gonna step up to the challenge?” Bron waits and who do we get? “APOLLO~!” Fans fire up for the return of the most athletic man to cross through NXT, and he is fired up to be back! Apollo gets in the ring with Bron and gets a mic as fans chant, “WELCOME BACK!” Apollo says he wants us to believe him when he says this is the type of energy he has missed! Apollo then tells Bron he wasn’t here on Saturday but he’s here now, for as long as he wants to be. And congratulations on the win. Fans chant “We Missed You!” and Apollo says he missed them, too. But he has to say, he has seen the meteoric rise, and Bron is one of the best not just in NXT but all of WWE!

Apollo says this place IS special, he loves NXT! When he left NXT, it was way too soon, with a lot of things he wanted to do on the table. But he is back to correct history! He is back to change history! Apollo Crews is back to make history! And Bron, Apollo saw that one day, they would make that history together. Until then, see you down the road. Fans cheer as the two shake hands. Will Apollo make sure he gets to the NXT Championship sooner rather than later? Or will he check off some other things first?

Joe Gacy speaks.

“Recognizing you can’t get through this life all alone is not a weakness, but a strength. There are people in this world that need guidance. You two were prime examples. You realized you were not fulfilled, so you cleared your minds and opened your hearts to me.” They’ve made great strides, and there are people that don’t understand they are shaping the world by maximizing their exposure on the platform they have each and every week. Their message is far more important than any possession or symbol. But now, they can focus on their progression.

“Forget what you’ve been called. You are the Dyad, and you will continue to be an extension of me, starting next week when you compete in the ring for the very first time.” Just who are the two under the hoods? And will they be able to fulfill Gacy’s mission of transforming NXT into his image?

NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament Finals: Roxanne Perez VS Tiffany Stratton!

In one corner, the Gamer Girl scratched and clawed her way just to get into NXT, and then to get to this moment here tonight. Roxie sweeps but Tiffany handsprings through and does a curtsy. Roxie says okay, and she blocks a kick to spin Tiffany. Roxie rolls, rolls and headscissirs! Tiffany handsprings through again! But she swaggers into a SHOTGUN! Roxie eggs Tiffany on then drop toeholds! Roxie stomps Tiffany’s fingers!

Roxie does the curtsy, then wrenches an arm to a wristlock. Tiffany endures, reaches for ropes but Roxie keeps her away with a hammerlock. They go around, Tiffany reaches out again but Roxie wrenches through to wristlock. Tiffany rolls, handsprings, wrenches and wristlocks back. Roxie endures, fans rally, Roxie rolls and goes after the arm but Tiffany wrangles her down. Tiffany digs her knee into Roxie’s head, twists the wrist and bends the fingers! NXT returns and Tiffany is after the bad arm with a Fujiwara Armbar! Roxie endures, fans rally and duel, Roxie makes the armbar a roll-up, TWO! Tiffany WRINGS the arm out! Tiffany loses extensions but she MOONSAULTS the arm! Cover, TWO! Tiffany hurries after the bad arm but Roxie endures again. Roxie moves around, even as Tiffany is practically on the other side of her! Roxie pushes up, rolls, and rolls Tiffany up! TWO, but Roxie uppercuts! And uppercuts! And then whips. Tiffany blocks, pulls hair and puts Roxie in the corner! Tiffany wrenches and WRINGS the bad arm! Roxie goes to a corner, Tiffany handsprings all the way in for a back elbow!

Winner: Roxanne Perez, by pinfall (NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament Champion)

And Cora Jade is right out here to celebrate with her! Roxie rocks Tiffany and gets her name on that contract! Cora presents Roxie with the contract, but then Toxic Attraction makes their way out. Mandy Rose, still NXT Women’s Champion, “congratulates” Roxanne. “All the sacrifices, the hardships, those long bus rides, it all paid off. Honestly, you should be really proud of yourself. And to top it off, you have your best friend standing beside you to soak it all in. Wow… That’s amazing.” Mandy means it. But she wants Roxie to enjoy this moment. “Because unfortunately, it’s all downhill from here.”

If Roxie thinks she can cash in on Mandy, no no no, honey. She has a better chance of going to Raw or SmackDown, or even just leaving that contract in her closet. If Roxie challenges Mandy, she will fail. Just ask Cora. She had not just one, but two chances, and failed both times. So Mandy’s title isn’t going anywhere any time soon. And as for Cora, if she thinks her stupid skateboarding ass- Roxie DECKS Mandy! And then she and Cora brawl with Gigi & Jacy! Fans fire up, Mandy manages to get up, and she goes after Roxie! The 3v2 of course goes Toxic Attraction’s way, but then here comes INDI! Indi DECKS Jacy, shoves Gigi and DECKS her, too!

Mandy turns Indi around but gets ROCKED! Then DOUBLE SUPERKICKS from Roxie & Cora! Mandy gets on the apron, Indi BOOTS her off! Mandy falls right onto Gigi & Jacy, Toxic Attraction are down for the count! Will Roxie make sure she breaks out and takes gold from Toxic Attraction?

Chase is furious, but he’s going to the ring to whoop those SOB’s! Will Professor Chase be able to handle both “tasty dishes” on his own? Or will they give him more of the same once the bell rings?

Backstage interview with Wendy Choo.

Sadly, things didn’t go her way at In Your House, but- Wait, Tiffany barges in, whining about losing to Roxie and claiming she cheated. Wendy says, “Excuse me.” But Tiffany says, “You’re excused,” and keeps on whining. Wendy speaks up again and Tiffany asks what? This is her time! Tiffany wants a rematch! Wendy SPLASHES Tiffany! Tiffany freaks out over her hair now, but will she be having an even worse meltdown if she loses to Wendy?

Handicap Match: Pretty Deadly VS Andre Chase!

Kit Wilson & Elton Prince warned Chase U, and then made good on the threat taking out the star pupil. But will they take out the headmaster next? Or will they learn a lesson in humility after already having lost their titles?

Thea tried but the rules wouldn’t let her help Chase. Pretty Deadly gets back up, but will they get back to the NXT Tag Team Championships?

Melo & Trick walk the halls, but spot something.

Trick says these three must be waiting on them. It’s Tony D and his boys! Tony says, “What up, champ?” Congrats, but as you know, you’re not the only one with a victory from In Your House. So if Melo wants his reign to last longer than the first, falling in lone behind The Don might not be a bad idea. Trick says Tony may be the Don, but this is the Sun! Everything revolves around Melo. To put it like this, Melo is good on mentioning his title, but no thanks. Well then stay out of Tony’s way, son. Because if you don’t, this ends in the blink of an eye. But uh, good luck in the main event. Melo wants Tony to put some respect on the name. Will Melo show The Don just who is in charge around here?

Alba Fyre VS Tatum Paxley!

The Scary Queen of Scots has risen from the ashes like a phoenix, and she wants to blaze a trail to the top! The powerlifter stepped up where the baller didn’t, will Tatum be able to put out the Fyre? Or will she just be more wood for the flame to stay alive?

NXT returns and Tatum makes her entrance. The bell rings and the two tie up. They go around, Fyre waistlocks but Tatum wrenches out to a hammerlock. Fyre switches that onto Tatum but Tatum hits a fireman’s carry takeover. Tatum has the armlock, Fyre fights up but Tatum wrangles her for a La Magistrol! TWO, Tatum is ready and she waistlocks. Fyre pries free, gets around and SLAMS Tatum! Ghost pin, TWO! Tatum gets back up and resets with Fyre. They tie up, Fyre gets a leg and flips Tatum! Tatum handsprings through to tackle Fyre to a cover, TWO! Tatum picks Fyre up but Fyre sunset flips, only for Tatum to sit down! TWO!

Fyre and Tatum hurry back up, Fyre has the leg again and flips Tatum again, to KNEE her as she shoots in! Cover, TWO! Fans rally and duel, Fyre stalks Tatum to a corner. Fyre brings Tatum out, ROCKS her with a right, then whips her to a corner. Tatum reverses, Fyre reverses and Tatum hits buckles hard! Fyre CHOPS Tatum, brings her around, and GOURD BUSTERS! Tatum rolls away, but Fyre just shrugs. BIG SWANTON BOMB! Cover, Fyre wins!

Winner: Alba Fyre, by pinfall

Fyre still hits the target, she still gets the win! But she shows Tatum respect for stepping up to her. Will this nod of approval mean Tatum is on her way to the top? But then Lash BOOTS Fyre at the stage! Lash talks trash but fans say SHE is trash! Lash is brave when Fyre isn’t ready, but will Fyre make Lash regret ever stepping to her like that?

The Diamond Mine is in the dojo.

And they’re admiring the NXT Tag Team Championships the Creeds just won on Saturday. But Roderick Strong walks in and says he may have given them a hard time, and things were said. They’re all alphas here, especially #BigIve. But on Saturday, the biggest challenge of the Creeds’ careers, and they not only rose to the occasion, they dominated! That was amazing. Strong wants to congratulate them on being the NEW NXT Tag Team Champions! Bring it in! Diamond Mine Forever! Water under the bridge! They hug it out, but then Malik Blade & Edris Enofe walk in? Edris says great win and Malik says that Brutus Ball from the top was amazing!

Julius, that was picture perfect on the Shooting Star, too. And not to ruin the moment, but uh, maybe Malik & Edris can get a shot? Well, Saturday was a big day. They had to be dialed in and perform in front of friends and family. And even with all that, they still heard these two talking that talk. But they appreciate it! Yeah, man! Nice. So if Malik & Edris want their shot next week, the Creeds would be honored. The deal is in, but Strong isn’t so sure. What are they doing? What? Diamond Mine doesn’t back down. Yeah but this isn’t Christmas! You don’t just hand out a title shot! You make those guys earn things!

Oh but that’s right, they’re new to being champions. But Strong’s been champion countless times! Now that he thinks about it, they did make some mistakes that almost cost them. They’re lucky to be champs! Strong was going to give them one mistake as champions, and they just made it. So much for everyone getting along… Will Strong’s ego be what costs his boys their belts? Or will it just cost him his spot in the group?

NXT receives another message in Italian.

“In this world, luck favors the bold. And his luck never runs out. His fortune is measured not just by his back account, but by his wealth of style, and the flare for the performance. His ability to step out on his own from a dominant circle shows he fears nothing and regrets less. Destined to uncork success at every turn, the time has come to show the world who he is. Prepare for his arrival as NXT will never be the same.” Fabian Aichner IS Giovanni Vinci! And he’s back on NXT next week!

Grayson Waller & Carmelo Hayes w/ Trick Williams VS Solo Sikoa & ???

The 21st Century Success Story and the two-time North American Champion both think the Street Champion of the Island needs to wait in line, not just get things because he’s Bloodline. And while Solo is more than willing to take these two on all alone, he did leave an open invitation to anyone who dislikes Melo and Waller as much as he does. Will someone accept and join Solo’s side? Or will Sikoa really be solo in this fight?

Solo makes his entrance, and he has a mic. “Listen. As bad as I want to kick you two asses right now, I brought somebody with me that can feel the same way.” It’s… APOLLO! Seems Apollo wasn’t going to just settle for reintroducing himself! Will he make a huge impact in this sudden return match?

Solo and Apollo get in, they ROCK and TOSS Trick, then they brawl with Melo and Waller! Solo clotheslines Melo out, Apollo clotheslines Waller out right after! Fans are fired up while Melo and Waller regroup. They get back up as Solo steps up for the team. Melo and Solo stare down, Melo talks trash, but then Melo tags Waller. Fans boo but Waller mocks Solo’s stance. Waller tries testing kicks but then dodges the right to JAB Solo! And HEADBUTT! That doesn’t work out, Solo’s head is way harder than Waller’s! Solo HEADBUTTS Waller down, then tags Apollo. Solo scoop SLAMS Waller, for Apollo’s slingshot senton!

Apollo brings Waller up, suplexes and holds, and then uses just one arm! Apollo keeps Waller up for TWENTY, then for THIRTY before the SLAM! Fans fire up, Apollo swipes at Melo, then he brings Waller up. Tag to Solo, they mug Waller, then Solo whips to CLOBBER Waller. Solo runs for FALLING HEADBUTT! Cover, TWO! Solo wrenches, tags Apollo, Apollo goes up to ax handle. Apollo JABS and whips but Waller holds ropes. Waller elbows Apollo, tags Melo, then rushes Apollo. Apollo whips Waller away, Waller goes up and over but then scurries away. Melo MYSTICOS Apollo! Waller does the drop steps, “passes” the ball and Melo shoots to score.

Melo ROCKS Apollo against ropes, CLUBS away on him, then tags Waller. They mug Apollo, the ref reprimands, but Waller CLUBS Apollo to a corner. Waller stomps a mudhole, the ref counts, Waller lets off at 4. Waller brings Apollo up to snap suplex, then he mocks Apollo’s pain. Waller facelocks to grind Apollo down but fans call him an A-Hole. Waller whips Apollo to the corner, elbows him, and tags Melo. They mug Apollo more, Melo snapmares and PENALTY KICKS Apollo down! Cover, ONE! Melo hurries to keep between Apollo and Solo then he BOOTS Apollo! Melo talks trash on Solo and he facelocks Apollo to keep him down.

Fans rally up, Apollo fight sup and powers forward! Melo CLUBS away on Apollo, but Apollo keeps fighting! Melo CLUBS again, but Apollo shoves free! Melo rolls off Apollo’s back and gets a leg, but Apollo ENZIGURIS Melo away! Fans fire up as Apollo crawls, hot tags to Waller and Solo! Waller runs into Solo’s lariat, elbow and SUPERKICK! Fans fire up with Solo and he goes corner to corner, HIP ATTACK! Apollo tags in, he PLANCHAS Melo and Waller down! Fans fire up as NXT goes picture in picture!

Apollo is wincing, but he says the arm is fine. He goes out to fetch Waller, throwing forearms then smacking Waller off the apron. Apollo puts Waller in, ROCKS him with a forearm, then snapmares into a chinlock. Waller flails as he endures the squeeze, but Apollo leans on the hold. Waller fights up, powers up and out but Apollo runs Waller over! Apollo gets Waller up, tags Solo, and they mug Waller. Solo throws hands, headlocks, and hits the takeover. Waller keeps his shoulders up, headscissors but Solo shrugs that off. Waller fights around, gets up, and throws body shots. Waller powers out but Solo dodges to CLOBBER him!

Fans fire up with Solo again, he covers, TWO! Solo stays in Waller’s way to wrench and headlock. Waller fights around, gets up but Solo snapmares to a chinlock. Waller endures again, NXT returns to single picture, and fans rally as Waller fights back up. Waller JAWBREAKERS free, but Solo HEADBUTTS! Solo shoves Waller into Melo, that counts as a tag! Melo is frozen on the apron, so Solo TOSSES him into the ring! Solo rallies on Melo with big shoulder tackles and Melo flounders to a corner. Solo runs in to SPLASH! Melo sits back down, fans fire back up! HIP- NO, Waller gets Melo out and Solo slows up.

Trick gets on the apron to talk trash, but Solo CLOBBERS him! Melo gets in, SPRINGBOARD SLINGBLADE! Melo DECKS Apollo and he rains down fists on Solo! Melo stomps Solo, drags him over, and tags in Waller. They double whip Solo, Waller trips Solo up and sets him up for Melo to stomp away! The ref counts, Waller lets off then tags back in. Waller stomps Solo while Melo holds him down, and Melo lets off at 4. Fans boo, Waller taunts Apollo but Solo hits Waller! Waller hits an STO! Waller puts Solo in a drop zone and goes to a corner. Waller goes up, walks the ropes, BALLER ELBOW! Cover, TWO!

Fans rally as Solo survives. Waller drags Solo up to CLUB him down, then steps on Solo’s face. Tag to Melo, he and Waller soak up the heat, but Solo avoids the slingshot elbow! Waller doesn’t realize it until he turns around! Solo DECKS Melo with an uppercut! Melo comes back to BOOT Solo! Melo puts Solo in the corner, he tags Waller, they mug Solo again. Waller CLUBS Solo, cravats for the neck wrench and he even throws some knees. Waller wrangles Solo to the mat, but Solo keeps his shoulders up. Waller shifts to a CROSSFACE! Solo endures and fans rally up. Solo fights around, reaches out, crawls over, and gets the ROPEBREAK!

Waller holds until 4, and he is frustrated with Solo’s toughness. Waller knees Solo in the side, scuffs him, but fans chant “Waller Sucks!” Solo throws a body shot but Waller CLUBS and JABS Solo back. Solo fights out of the corner with big elbows, but Waller waistlocks! Waller keeps Solo from Apollo, but Solo backs Waller into Melo! Melo falls, Solo dodges Waller, tag to Apollo! Apollo rallies on everybody, and he back drops Apollo! Then GERMAN SUPLEXES! And another GERMAN SUPLEX! And a third GERMAN SUPLEX! Melo runs in, Apollo dodges to GERMAN SUPLEX! Fans rally for Apollo’s Suplex City and Apollo fires up!

Apollo runs corner to corner at Waller, STINGER SPLASH! Then a whip and LEAPING LARIAT! Apollo kips up, to the MOONSAULT! Cover, Melo breaks it! Solo gets in and he stares Melo down. “This is Awesome!” as the brawl is on! Solo fires off haymakers, shoves, but Melo kicks! Solo just roars and SUPERKICKS back! Solo clotheslines Melo and himself out of the ring! Apollo grabs at Waller but Waller HOTSHOTS! SOMERSAULT- NO, no stunner! CREWS MISSILE!! Cover, Apollo & Solo win!!

Winners: Solo Sikoa & Apollo Crews, by pinfall

The homecoming is victorious! Apollo takes down the 21st Century Success Story, and he helps Solo get even with Melo! Will Solo prove he does have the next shot at the North American Championship? Will Apollo end up going for gold on his own?

My Thoughts:

A great episode for NXT, especially to follow In Your House. For one, great to see them follow on the story of The Don taking over Legado right away, and not in any way that’s too stupid or degrading for Legado. Pretty sure they got some rather interesting political social commentary with that redistricting line, but I don’t know Florida politics. Either way, it was a great move for Tony to force Escobar to have an “impromptu” match with Frazer. Escobar VS Frazer was a great match, Tony criticizing Escobar’s wrestling style was a great detail, and of course Frazer wins because Tony and his guys kept distracting him. This will all lead to Legado losing their cool and uprising against Tony D.

I really liked what they gave us in the tag division tonight. For one, Strong can’t help but create tension between him and the rest of Diamond Mine. He disapproved the Creeds giving Malik & Edris a shot, and he might try to get involved in the match again like he did with Viking Raiders and Pretty Deadly. The Creeds will retain and this thing with Strong will come to a head in time for Great American Bash 2022. Pretty Deadly had a good interaction with Chase U, and of course they’d attack Bodhi to give themselves an advantage. I really liked the bit where Thea wanted to tag in even though it wasn’t co-ed, and there has to be a moment where Thea proves herself in a big match.

Good match from Tatum against Fyre but of course Fyre wins. Fyre hitting that Swanton from corner to center was great stuff. And of course Lash attacks Fyre in a classic Heel move. Fyre VS Lash will be another good match, and I suppose Lash could win with cheating, but Fyre should win to build more momentum towards the title. Roxie VS Tiffany was a great match for the Breakout Tournament finals, and I wish this was the main event just on principle of the historic match being the most important. Roxie wins because duh, all the champions are Heels. And naturally, the champions showed up to talk down to Roxie.

We got a great brawl, and Indi showing up could mean Roxie uses her contract to get her and Cora a tag title match, and Indi gets a fair match with Mandy for the top title. I kinda hope this is where Toxic Attraction loses, so that Indi can join Io Shirai and Raquel Gonzalez in having the top title and the tag titles in their careers. The only thing Indi doesn’t have that those two do have is a Dusty Cup trophy. Also, an interesting move that Wendy and Tiffany are having another feud after both of them lost the big prizes. Maybe Wendy wins this time since she has the fans behind her much stronger this time.

Bron Breakker had a decent enough promo giving some credit to Gacy, but the big moment was Apollo’s return to NXT, and not having the Nigerian Prince gimmick or even accent. Vince and team really let the ball drop on that one. They moved Apollo & Azeez to Raw but then kinda forgot about them the last few months. Apollo will surely make his way to the top title, but it was great for him to join Solo against Waller and Melo. Great set-up to this with the segment where Melo said Grimes’ promise is null and void, and then we got a great tag team match. Solo and Apollo win, they’ve got momentum towards titles, but it’d be quite the twist if Apollo got in on the North American title match. Apollo VS Melo 1v1 would be awesome stuff, too, but I would think Solo is meant to dethrone Melo.

My Score: 8.7/10

Andrew’s TNA iMPACT! Results & Match Ratings: 1.16.25

The Go Home for Genesis this Sunday! Let’s see what happens!

Published

on

So Genesis is Sunday, followed by next week’s Live Episode of iMPACT! Let’s see exactly how we get to Genesis and not to bury the lead, the fact the WWE/TNA partnership was extended for a few years is very big news for TNA. More visibility for a nostalgic brand and the younger NXT wrestlers get more opportunities with potential sprinkles of a big name here or there (yes I only really mean AJ Styles, but that’s what we all want to see one more time).

Let’s get to the show and see if it’s a Go Home worth anything.

Ratings:

  • Trent Seven vs Leon Slater: Slater wins via Swanton 450 – *
  • Fir$t Cla$$ vs Maniac Marines (Eric Young & Steve Maclin): EY wins via Macho Elbow – ** 3/4
  • Laredo Kid vs Jake Something: Jakes wins via Avalanche Something Bomb – **
  • The Hardys vs Ohio Versus Frankenstein (Sami Callihan & PCO): Hardys win via Crouton Bomb – ***

Results:

Trent Seven vs Leon Slater

British on British violence! I just appreciate that Trent’s theme is a down tuned remix of Seven Nation Army.

A little back and forth until Slater hits a Reverse Gamengiri, Trent tries to climb back to the apron after the powder, eats a Shotgun Kick. Trent dodges the dive, and Suplexes Leon down the steps at Center Stage. I feel like Slater over sold the spot, but I suppose using your surroundings is always interesting. Leon slides in at 9.5, Trent gets a little cocky and Leon hits two Flash Cradles for near falls, as Trent is reeling from the quick pinfall attempts he eats another Shotgun Kick for a near fall. Trent sells to the corner, eats a Jumping Bootwash, Leon perches Trent, goes for possibly a Spanish Fly but Trent turns it into an Avalanche Flowsion for two!

Bop and Bang, 7 Star Lariat, Piledriver with flourish and…still a two. Birminghammer attempt but Slater flips out of it, Crucifix pinfall for two, Uppercut by Trent and Birminghammer is hit! But Slater…kicks…out? He sells a Suplex where he slides down steps like death, but eats huge signature and finishing moves and kicks out. The psychology in this match is non-existent. Trent does the Finger Break, Leon sells away, hits another Shotgun Kick and Trent powders. X Plex gets reversed into a DDT from Slater. Trent powders off the Ramp, Leon goes to the entrance way runs and jumps off the ramp, then hits the Swanton 450.

Completely stupid match with spots that make no sense. All sizzle no steak, so dumb my IQ dropped 5 points.

The Elegance Clique have a “Pre-Launch Championship Celebration”. Tom Hannifan hates it, the crowd hates it, and the Personal Concierge uncovers a cardboard cut out with a Knockouts Title around their waists…and they are size accurate. Heather is like a My Size Barbie. Ash gives a very cringey speech where she thanks everyone except Heather, the Concierge passes the mic to Heather, Spitfire interrupts of course, and at least Dani cuts the promo to start so it’s tolerable. Yeah this is painfully bad cringe, as much as I didn’t mind the Ash gimmick to start with, this is lame. The only thing saving the segment is the crowd is hot for the the Elegance Clique getting their stuff ruined. So it was lame, but the crowd was into it and Ash sold the destruction of cardboard cut outs like Spitfire just murdered her puppy.

Well the first 40 minutes of this show are making me wish for a stroke instead of watching this. So hopefully it picks up somewhere.

Fir$t Cla$$ vs Maniac Marines (Eric Young & Steve Maclin)

KC flips out of two of EY’s Back Body Drops and does his “First Class” taunt, so EY just slaps him upside the head and tags in Maclin to start beating on Navarro. I do really like KC’s work. He’s like WWE Lio Rush, but likable and talented. Maclin is beating the hell out of KC though, Lariats him out, goes for the SCUD, but AJ low bridges so Maclin crashes to the outside, KC hits the Tope con Hilo with blind tag so AJ is now legal and they start working over Maclin in the corner. Tennessee Whiskey, and there does seem to be a few First Class fans in the crowd.

Navarro is back in for the 305, quick tags though to keep Maclin eating offense. Splash into Big Boot into Assisted Splash while AJ leans on Maclin literally. KC starts picking on kids in the crowd near Judd Normand, he shoves the actor, the actor shoves him back and AJ comes over to mad dog the actor. Maclin takes advantage of the distraction and drops AJ on the way back in with an Olympic Slam, tags in EY and EY comes out hot. KC tags in, EY levels KC and they start messing around in the corner, AJ tries to break it up but eats a Busaiku Knee from Maclin and then a SCUD. EY manages to throw KC off the turnbuckle and then hit the Macho Elbow for the win.

After the match Eddie, Lish and Brian Myers stand at the entrance way to send a message but not cause any real chaos.

Josh Alexander and his two bitch boys come out to cut a promo on Santana or something. I am about as interested in this as I am in Norwegian Dog Sledding. Josh trying to say Santana is too hurt to go at Genesis when we all know this was filmed the same time like a month ago. You really can’t do doofus attempts a story when you’re promoting the first live episode in nearly a decade or something for next week. At least the match should be good because this build is lame, the jabronis are useless, “Bald Ass Head” is the big insult…sheeeesh.

Laredo Kid vs Jake Something

Well…someone has to win this match, so there’s that.

Nothing special start until Jake comes off the ropes and runs over Laredo sending him flying over the ropes onto the ramp. Jake panders to the crowd, Laredo tries to get something going but Jake steps on his foot to stop any Lucha things, and mollywops him. Jake runs him corner to corner until Laredo moves, strings a few moves together, tries to fly and then gets knocked out of the sky with a Forearm. Only a two count for Jake, but Laredo is definitely doing his best impression of a pinata so far in the match. Laredo gets a desperation Satellite DDT, misses his big attempt, but Jake misses the Spear in the corner, La Magistral gets a 2, a few bad spots from Laredo where it looks like he missed a Satellite Facebuster and sloppy Essex or Canadian Destroyer. Laredo goes to the top, Jake bear paw slap, goes up top and Avalanche Something Bomb for the win.

The Hardys vs Ohio Versus Frankenstein (Sami Callihan & PCO)

Before the Hardys intro, the 23 thing flashes a few times again. So at least they didn’t forget that.

Sami starts with Jeff and gets in a few early shots and goads Jeff with Hardys taunts, then all four get in, throw hands and we go to commercial. We come back from commercial to Matt Delete Turnbuckling Sami, and then Poetry In Motion the classic way! A few quick tags, but Sami eventually knocks down Matt, tags in PCO, Matt’s moves aren’t very effective, Jeff throws himself in too and they get their asses beat by PCO. PCO tags in Sami, Sami slaps around Matt, drags his face across the ropes, tags PCO back in and uses PCO as a battering ram into Matt’s chest. PCO keeps Matt in their corner, tags back in Sami, some simple tandem work and a short 2 count for Sami. Sami calls PCO back in and they’re formulating a tag move, they try the Double Back Drop, but Matt turns it into a Double DDT instead.

Jeff tries to fight them both off, Sami grabs Jeff, PCO goes for the Lariat, malfunction at the junction, Whisper in the Wind mostly hits PCO so Jeff Splashes Sami. Twist of Hate, Twist of Fate, Swanton Bomb from Jeff and the Hardy Boys win!

Before the obligatory contract signing on the Go Home before a PPV, Jordynne walks over to the announce table with the contract for her match with Tessa. Says she’ll leave it with them so she can’t miss it, but hey, “if she doesn’t show up at Genesis it wouldn’t be the first time”. That’s funny.

Joe starts the promo saying he has to win, but its on him to take the title from Nic. There’s an intensity, so it’s not all cornball jokes and shenanigans. That’s kinda nice to start with. Nic takes the babyface angle of “you’re not wrong but I don’t think you’re ready yet kid”. Then he plays the JBL clip from Bound for Glory. Nic tries to use the video to clear his name because Ryan got attacked too. Joe is about to poke a hole in the defense but then Hollywood Abyss Mokuba shows up. “MY BROTHER SETO” Ryan interferes, Nic tries to stop the stupidity but Ryan plows through is about to eat a Standing Ovation but Nic Superkicks Joe to save Mokuba. Nic does stand there as the crowd chants “kick your brother”, but Nic doesn’t pull the trigger but you can tell he’s contemplating.

OH! Sexy Tessy shows up, signs the contract but Jordynne was waiting for her and leaves Tessa laying with a Grace Driver and solid intensity. Okay most of the show was kinda mid but the ending was pretty solid.

Overall Score: 6.25/10

As I said at the very end, most of this show was mid…or mediocre for the older crowd. Indie Spotfest Dumbassery to kick off the show, a few segments that made me question if I was tasting pennies, a decent match with First Class, the stalled push never relevant squad match between Jake and Laredo, and at least the main event match was fun.

The video packages always feel lackluster because the only people really watching TNA currently are hardcore fans. I never really see too many people pull the whole “whoa first TNA episode in 11 years and I decided on the random Go Home instead of the first live episode since 2015”. See, this is why logic matters in booking. WWE gets to have the mentality of “it could be someone’s first time watching it” every week because they the biggest show in town. The name alone will garner random views or transient lapsed fans if they get a whiff of something. However when it comes down to TNA, people are only surprised its still alive.

Even with many questionable hours it wasn’t terrible. It did fine…plus like I just said, there’s opportunity for more random eyes thanks to the WWE merger AND a live episode next week. So the Go Home format won’t change, but hopefully the exposure gives us more congruent storylines.

QT Marshall speaks.

“Next week is the 100th episode of ROH Television. Impressive, huh? And that big shot, Paul Wight, from the Board of Directors, he said, ‘QT, I need you to do me a big favor. This show has to be huge! And the way to make that happen is to have you challenging for the ROH Television title.'” QT tells Paul that we all know he owes QT an apology. And the “old QT” would’ve been pretty petty and held that against Paul. But now that QT is a viral sensation who literally has strangers from all over falling in love with him, QT said, “Y’know what, Paul? I’m gonna do it.”

So that’s right, ROH fans! Next week, episode 100, QT Marshall VS Komander, and QT walks out the NEW ROH World Television Champion! And Paul, after that, you will look QT in the eyes and apologize. QT is all smiles now, but will he be the one feeling the DOOM~ after facing the Commander of the Skies?

8 Man Tag: Katsuyori Shibata, Komander & The Outrunners VS Rosario Grillo, Colby Carter & The Stew Crew!

The Wrestler is back in action, and he’s teaming up with the ROH World TV Champion and the Youngest Men Alive! Will they all be rolling into episode 100 and beyond?

The teams sort out and Shibata starts against Grillo. The Code of Honor is upheld and the bell rings. Shibata and Grillo circle, the fans rally for Shibata, and the two tie up. They go around, Grillo wrenches, and he talks some smack. But Shibata wrenches back! Shibata puts Grillo on ropes, the ref counts the break, but Shibata CHOPS! And CHOPS again! The fans cheer as Shibata says one more time, and he CHOPS! Tag to Komander, he and Shibata double whip. Shibata drops down, Komander DROPKICKS Grillo! Grillo scrambles to tag in “Twisted Steel,” Dylan Stewart. Dylan is the shorter of the Stewart Brothers, only because Zach is 6’5″.

Dylan and Komander circle, then Dylan takes a swing. Komander dodges, scoops, but Dylan slips free to shove Komander. Komander springboards to CROSSBODY, but Dylan catches him! Dylan throws Komander but Komander lands on his feet. Komander knuckle locks, CHOPS, then goes up, up, jumps around and around, and the fans fire up for the FLYING RANA! Komander keeps going, he ducks ‘n’ dodges to roll and FACEBUSTER! Then a basement DROPKICK! Komander wrenches Dylan, winds up, and he tags in Turbo Floyd! The fans fire up as Turbo wrenches and headlocks Dylan.

Dylan pulls Turbo’s hair, puts him in a corner, but the ref reprimands. Dylan lets off, but he throws a body shot! Dylan takes another shot but Turbo dodges! Turbo winds up, and flexes! The fans cheer, Dylan swings, but into a BIG atomic drop! Tag to Truth, the Outrunners whip and DOUBLE ATOMIC DROP! Dylan staggers while The Outrunners flex! Colby runs in, but into a DOUBLE ATOMIC DROP! The Outrunners have Colby and Dylan in opposite corners, and they storm up to rain down fists! The fans count along, and The Outrunners go to nine, wind up, and TEN! The fans fire up as The Outrunners headlock Dylan and Colby.

The Outrunners run to each other, MEETING OF THE MINDS! The fans cheer while The Outrunners spin! Truth drags Dylan up, but Dylan powers him to the corner! “Silverback” Zach tags in, and Dylan sends him in for a SPLASH! Zach roars, then he CHOKES Truth in the ropes! The ref counts, Zach backs off, then he tags in Grillo. They stomp away on Truth, the fans rally up, but Grillo tags Dylan. Dylan stomps Truth, throws some hands, then tags Colby. Dylan and Colby mug Truth, then let off as the ref reprimands. The fans boo Colby while he taunts Truth’s team. But Truth fights against the others!

Colby kicks low, headlocks Truth, then shifts to a SLEEPER! Colby leans on the hold but Truth endures. The fans rally up, Truth fights to his feet, and Truth fires body shots! Truth reaches out, but Colby keeps him from Turbo! Colby then short arm LARIATS! The fans boo but Colby soaks up the heat. Colby runs, but Truth avoids the knee drop! Colby flounders, tag to Grillo! Grillo runs but Truth dodges! Zach runs in, Truth DUMPS him out! Dylan whips but Truth reverses to TOSS him! Grillo DECKS Truth! Grillo then winds up, but Turbo blocks the sucker punch! Turbo ROCKS Grillo, and Truth BACKDROPS him!

The fans fire up as Truth crawls, hot tag to Turbo! The fans fire up more as Turbo rallies on Grillo with haymaker after haymaker! Then a scoop SLAM! Grillo staggers back up, into another scoop SLAM! Turbo looks around, Colby runs up, but into a scoop and SLAM! Dylan storms in, but into a scoop SLAM! Zach is in, he’s a big guy! Treuth helps for the SLAM! The fans fire up as Truth then feeds Grillo to Turbo’s ELBOW! Then the Outrunners wind up… “Turbo Floyd! You sonovabi*ch!” DOUBLE ELBOW DROP on Grillo! Then tag to Shibata! The fans fire up again as Shibata whips and BOOTS Grillo in the corner!

Shibata fires a flurry of forearms, he sits Grillo down, then he runs corner to corner and back again. HYDRAULIC DROPKICK! SNAP HALF HATCH! Cover, Colby breaks it! So Truth swings! Colby dodges, Turbo scoops! TOTAL RECALL for Colby! SAIDO for Grillo! Komander goes up, and he gives Grillo CIELITO LINDO! Shibata keeps The Stew Crew out, then PENALTY KICKS Grillo! Cover, Shibata’s team wins!

Winners: Katsuyori Shibata, Komander & The Outrunners, by pinfall

An eclectic combination, but a victorious one as well! Shibata and team show respect to each other with handshakes and bows, will all these men be part of the revolution in the New Year?

Shane Taylor speaks.

“Whoever, wherever, whenever. That is the motto of Shane Taylor Promotions. Where I’m from, winning a fight had to be definitive. There was no time limit, there were no disqualifications, there was no bell, and there damn sure wasn’t a referee to come save you. A fight wasn’t over until somebody didn’t wanna fight anymore. A fight wasn’t over until somebody couldn’t fight anymore. A fight wasn’t over until somebody was either knocked out, choked out, or chalked out. It’s a new era in the professional wrestling industry: my era. It is the Era of Shane Taylor Promotions. Win a match if you can. But you damn sure won’t win the fight. Rumble, bad man, rumble.”

The Beast Mortos VS Tony Nese w/ The Premier Athletes!

La Faccion Ingobernable as been conspicuous by their absence, but the menacing minotaur is continuing on no matter what. But then “Smart” Mark Sterling cuts Bobby Cruise off and tells him to “hit the bricks.” Sterling handles the introductions as everyone knows this is Tony Nese and they are The Premier Athletes. “And folks, we’ve been sick and tired of every town messing up our mojo by doing the incorrect pregame cheer. So I told the guys we’re not even gonna give the people of Athens the opportunity! But Josh said, ‘Surely they can read what’s on our shirts.’ So we’re gonna give you one chance. When I say, ‘Athletes,’ you say, ‘Rule.’ NOTHING ELSE!

“Hands in, boys. Ohhhh…! ATHLETES!” “SUCK!!” The fans get the better of Mark again, but will Mortos take everything Nese has and eat it for lunch?

The fans rally for “BEAST! BEAST! BEAST!” Sterling and the guys try to get an “Athletes! Athletes!” chant going, but the fans boo. The Code of Honor is hesitantly kept, and the bell rings. Mortos and Nese circle, then tie up. Mortos powers Nese to a corner, the ref counts, and Mortos lets off. Then he SMACKS Nese! Nese is mad and says Mortos is an animal! Mortos snarls and the two circle again. Nese and Mortos circle, Nese dodges and throat chops! The ref reprimands but Nese kicks low. Nese tries to pretend the “BEAST! BEAST! BEAST!” chants are really “NESE! NESE! NESE!” chants but the fans boo.

Nese CHOPS Mortos, has Daivari & Woods put their hands in, “Ohhhh…! ATHLETES!” “SUCK!!” Nese scowls, then headlocks Mortos. Mortos powers out, Nese RAMS him, but Mortos stays up! Nese runs again, RAMS Mortos again, but Mortos just roars! Nese revs up, but he kicks low! Nese fires haymakers, then whips, but Mortos reverses. Mortos CLOBBERS Nese! Then CLOBBERS him again! My Thoughts:

A very good ROH, especially with it at about an hour and 11 minutes. Again, that’s actually less because of the ROH Rewind. A great choice to go with something from Episode 1 as we’re about to hit Episode 100 of this new “Under Tony Khan” ROH. However, they advertised an update on the “Athena World Tour,” but it wasn’t even anything new, it was just footage courtesy of Stardom. I was hoping she’d have a quick video message meant specifically for the ROH fans, or even a message Billie Starkz would be forced to read in Athena’s place per being Minion 400,237 & 3/4ths. Honestly, I hope we get a proper return from Athena next week on episode 100.

Speaking of, I blanked on how they “planned” on making QT VS Komander for tonight’s episode but good move on them kayfabing the move to episode 100. Good promo from QT to introduce that, and he’ll have a great match with Komander. Speaking of, good adjustment of putting Komander, The Outrunners & Shibata together in a match against I would think the four guys they were going to face anyway. Good showing from Grillo, Colby & “The Stew Crew,” but of course they took the loss. And also good win for Blake Christian, I hope he keeps his win streak going so he can take Komander on for the title.

Mortos VS Nese was great stuff, even The Premier Athletes insisting on the “Athletes Rock!” stuff. Great win for Mortos, but it just occurred to me that once again, Tony Khan has let La Faccion Ingobernable go ice cold. Mortos is the only one of them we see do anything, and he was losing all over the C2. I don’t even know why LFI disappeared again, other than TK is just too focused on Death Riders, Learning Tree, Rated FTR, Don Callis Family, The Hurt Syndicate, and everything else without even properly integrating everything into the “Death Riders want to wake up the AEW roster.” Why not give us some LFI VS Death Riders? Rush VS Moxley could tear it up.

Very good Proving Ground match but of course Velvet won. Risk sure talks a lot of smack, and I almost thought they were going to push this to like the two minute warning. But Velvet is going to be rolling until Leyla Hirsch comes back around and they have their rematch. And a very good 8 Man Tag with STP & LEE-J making a great combination against a rather interesting combination. 11 minutes as a main event match wasn’t much but it was rather hectic, and good win for the Heels. With Lee Johnson resisting the STP recruiting months ago, they could use this to make up for that dropped story. LEE-J joining as a way to also go for the ROH World Six Man titles could be good stuff. They might have to wait until they’re back in Texas, though, since the Von Erichs seem to stay local.

My Score: 8.5/10
