Mason Rook Debuts in NXT, Reveals New Name After Attack on Tony D’Angelo

At the end of this week’s NXT, Tony D’Angelo picked up a win over Tavion Heights, but an unidentified attacker — revealed as the former Will Kroos — interfered, delivering a running Death Valley Driver into the turnbuckle and standing tall as he declared, “My name is Mason Rook. And I’ve arrived in NXT.” Rook actually debuted one week earlier, joining a post-match beatdown and finishing with a top-rope moonsault that intensified the assault on D’Angelo and Heights.

The newly christened Mason Rook is best known from the UK scene, where he held PROGRESS’s Atlas Championship, and he’s also made appearances for Pro Wrestling NOAH in the past year. The arrival earned social buzz from a major WWE figure — John Cena reposted the attack video, captioning it, “HE’S BIG…. HE’S BAD…. HE’LL BODYSLAM YOUR DAD!!!,” as Rook officially begins his NXT run.
