Chris King: Oba Femi’s Open Challenge At WWE Clash In Italy

Chris King looks at the possibilities for Oba Femi at WWE Clash In Italy. What’s next for The Ruler?
Oba Femi did the unthinkable at WrestleMania 42, defeating Brock Lesnar in a squash
match. The rising Nigerian superstar has all the potential in the world: he’s great on the
mic, he’s got incredible charisma, and he’s an absolute beast in the ring. After his
dominant performance on the grandest stage, ‘The Ruler’ announced the Oba Femi
Open Challenge every week on Monday Night Raw.
The first week, he knocked off the big bulldozer Otis in convincing fashion, lifting the big
33-pounder and hitting his Fall From Grace finisher. On this week’s episode of Raw,
there was no one willing to step up to The Ruler, so Femi made his own handicap match
against La Garza. Once again, Femi showed off his freakish speed and dominant ability
to defeat two superstars at once.
With almost two weeks away from Clash in Italy, I thought of the perfect opportunity for
the big man. What if WWE announces an open challenge for The Ruler at the upcoming
PLE against a returning Sheamus or Drew McIntyre? I firmly believe that both
superstars should be the ones answering the open challenge; anyway, why not let the
European crowd see two powerhouses go to war?
Not only would this be a fantastic match, but this would start Femi’s first real program on
the main roster. I agree that the open challenge is a great way to showcase his talents
on a weekly basis, but he really needs to be involved in a big feud leading up to the
King of the Ring tournament at Night of Champions. Sheamus versus Femi would feed
generations, and then you could save Femi versus McIntyre for the KOTR tournament.
Either way, it doesn’t feel like WWE creative has a concrete plan for The Ruler, and they
need to fix this quickly. The last thing you want is for Femi to lose all the momentum that
he gained from slaying ‘The Beast Incarnate.’
