On Episode 254, Big Dave returns to recap one of the biggest weekends of the year in pro wrestling….WWE Summer Slam!

The 2019 edition of the Biggest Party of the Summer had all the drama you would expect from a Big 4 PPV and lasting ramifications for WWE moving forward. On this Episode, Dave recaps the two weeks leading into Summer Slam ’19 and NXT Takeover Toronto II by reviewing Raw, Smackdown Live, and NXT leading into those two mega events.

From there, we move into the review of NXT Takeover: Toronto II. NXT has been the center of wrestling news the past couple of days and Takeover Toronto II, and the fall out from that event, had a lot to do with that. With all of the NXT Championships on the line, the event lived up to the hype. Big Dave reviews the event here on Episode 254, including the final chapter of the epic rivalry between Adam Cole and Johnny Gargano.

Also included on this Episode is a preview of Summer Slam ’19 recorded just prior to the event. That is then followed up with the Summer Slam ’19 review. It was a very good PPV, even though nothing truly shocking happened. How did Seth Rollins manage to slay The Beast yet again? How did “The Man” Becky Lynch and Bayley put away the latest challengers to their respective Championships? How did Charlotte Flair become the Queen of all Eras? Does The Fiend have one of the coolest entrances ever?And why did the outcome of Kofi Kingston v Randy Orton feel vaguely familiar to certain things that went down last year? Big Dave breaks it all down for you and contemplates might it all might mean moving forward here on this Super Recap of Summer Slam weekend for 2019.

The Big Five Project returns to cover one of the worst PPVs of all time, King of the Ring 1995. Seriously, this is an event that kind of makes WrestleMania IX look good by comparison. Vince McMahon had all the elements in place to make this an event to remember. Well, it was an event to remember for all the wrong reasons. The bracket for the King of the Ring tournament was pretty solid. But bad matches and even worse booking decisions led us to the crowning of….King Mabel? Oh, and if that was not bad enough, Vince threw Bret “Hitman” Hart, the best wrestler in the company, into a meaningless Kiss My Foot match with Jerry “The King” Lawler. The fact that match was one of the better matches on the card tells you so much of what you need to know, and we have not event talked about the Main Event pitting the WWF Champion Diesel, and his tag team partner, Bam Bam Bigelow, against Sycho Sid and Tatanka in a match that redefined the word meaningless. If you are asking why….well you are not the only ones as we asked ourselves the same question over and over during this PPV that really epitomizes just how rough things were in WWF during the first half of 1995. Rob returns to the show and joins Dave, DJ, and PC Tunney to cover it all for you here, so you don’t have to watch it yourself. You can thank us later.
