SITE NEWS: The Chairshot Welcomes New Editors & Director

Published

on

WWE WrestleMania 32 Stadium

Since our debut in late November 2017 (Thanksgiving weekend), our staff has been hard at work establishing The Chairshot as the leading up-and-coming site covering pro wrestling on the internet. Along the way, we’ve added many writers and podcasts, and have expanded our reach into sports and entertainment.

Our most recent call for staff (many positions still open!) was a direct result of the hard work put in by the current staff. We are proud to announce the following leadership additions to The Chairshot team!

Andrew Balaz, Managing Editor

Andrew has been with our team since Yes Wrestling, and has gradually taken on more and more responsibility. Andrew spearheaded our Match Of The Week, Match Rankings, Power Rankings, compiles our PPV predictions, is our resident champion of Japanese wrestling, and is working to create Cheap Shots–our fan based blog section. Andrew also appears on POD is WAR opposite Christopher Platt, our show where both hosts battle it out while discussing five entertaining topics.

As Managing Editor, Andrew is directly responsible for reviewing and publishing the many articles appearing on The Chairshot, along with the selection and onboarding of new writing staff.

You can follow Andrew on Twitter @IWCWarChief and reach him at [email protected].

Stephen Moree, News Editor

Stephen comes to The Chairshot with extensive news reporting experience, covering some of the biggest and most important happenings in professional wrestling over the past few years. Stephen keeps his ear to the ground and his finger on the pulse of all facets of pro wrestling. Even taking a look at Stephen’s first 48 hours on the job you’ll see news items involving WWE, Impact Wrestling, Ring Of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and more!

As News Editor, Stephen is responsible for providing our readers with current and salient wrestling news in a timely fashion on a daily basis. He is also spearheading our PPV Live InterReaction, where he provides his own PPV reaction along with you, the readers of The Chairshot!

You can follow Stephen on Twitter @RawViews_Stephen, and will soon be able to email him at [email protected].

Brandon Murchison, Promotions Director

Brandon joined The Chairshot with an extensive history online, establishing himself among the foremost experts in fantasy sports at RotoExperts.com. With RotoExperts, Brandon has worked to promote site’s profile via avenues too numerous to list here. At The Chairshot, Brandon is a regular member of our podcasting team, appearing on the 2MB franchise shows along with appearances on our Impromptu Sports series.

As our Promotions Director, Brandon will work to increase the profile and credibility of The Chairshot through creative forms of promotion. One of his first visions is to introduce a Fantasy Wrestling platform in which our readers can compete, which we will soon begin testing internally.

You can follow Brandon on Twitter @RotoSuperstar and reach him at [email protected].

On behalf of PC Tunner (Radio Programming Director), Dan Phelan (Chief Engineer) and myself, please welcome them to our team! Our Social Media Director position remains open, and we are still seeking writers and podcasts. Please check our Now Hiring page for more information.

Mitchell’s AEW Continental Classic Update! (11/27/23)

What a start to the tournament!

Did your picks win points?

The AEW Continental Classic is underway, with almost everyone competing. Check in here if you haven’t seen the winners and losers of week 1!

Here are your Gold League standings!

  • Jon Moxley: 1-0, 3 points
  • Swerve Strickland: 1-0, 3 points
  • Jay White: 1-0, 3 points
  • Rush: 0-1, 0 points
  • Mark Briscoe: 0-1, 0 points.
  • Jay Lethal: 0-1, 0 points

Here are your Blue League standings!

  • Brody King: 1-0, 3 points
  • Claudio Castagnoli: 1-0, 3 points
  • Daniel Garcia: 0-1, 0 points
  • Eddie Kingston: 0-1, 0 points
  • Bryan Danielson: Yet to Compete
  • Andrade El Idolo: Yet to Compete

My Thoughts:

Nothing too crazy, nothing too wild, this tournament only just got started. The only disappointing point is that they could not get Bryan “cleared to compete” Saturday night. Not sure how much of that is shoot given the bad eye, but this was kinda the problem of wanting him in the tournament over tons of other choices. Bryan wants to face Okada for WrestleKingdom 18, how is Bryan supposed to do that at his best if he’s also gonna be in a round robin, doing five top level matches in about as many weeks? And it takes away from Andrade being able to do something. Also a little surprised we didn’t even hear from Andrade on Saturday.

Now as we heard on Saturday, round two’s matches are set. Gold League will see Mark Briscoe VS Rush, White VS Swerve, and of course, Moxley VS Lethal. Nice variety there, a couple 0-1 guys facing off, as well as two 1-0 guys, and then 1-0 VS 0-1. No offense to Lethal, but he feels like an 0-2 going up against Moxley. Hard to call the other ones but that’s the fun of it. Meanwhile, Blue League sees Brody VS Claudio in a showdown to be 2-0, then Bryan and Andrade finally jump in, Bryan against Eddie and Andrade against Garcia. Sadly, feels like Eddie and Garcia are going 0-2, no way Tony Khan is booking Bryan and Andrade to lose their first shots.

In fact, that could be half the reason they did wait on those two, that’s almost too good for just a first round opener. But I still would’ve done it, same as NJPW does stuff like that for round robins, which this is all modeled after anyway.
