5.  WrestleMania 21

When people talk about the best matches of the last decade most people would bring up this match. A classic example of a dream match with one of the best pro wrestlers vs the one of the best amateur wrestlers. The build to this saw Kurt Angle show his comedic side singing a parody of Shawn’s theme song titled Sexy Kurt.

A back and forth match with Angle showing off that viscous side of his character that he’d developed over the last few years constantly going after Shawn’s ankle. Shawn pulled out some big spots but ultimately was forced to tap out to the Ankle lock.

4. Leaving WWE

By 2006 Angle had suffered a number of injuries but due to his competitive spirit refused to take the recommended time off and would come back sooner than he was supposed to. This made the injuries worse and led to Angle developing a pain pill addiction . Vince wanted Angle to go to rehab but Angle refused and the conflict between the two led to Angle being released in June.

Around this time Angle had been drafted to the newly revived ECW and was set to be a big part of the brand. It was sad to see Angle who had been a big part of WWE for almost his entire run leave under these circumstances. He left without any fanfare and his departure was barley mentioned.

The way he exited the company it looked like he had burnt that bridge and would never go back.

3. Debuting in TNA

In September 2006 Kurt Angle was announced to be coming to TNA Wrestling. At that point Angle was the biggest signing for the promotion and brought a lot of new eyes to the company.

He would debut shortly before the end of the year and had a really good program with the Samoa Joe. Angle would actually give Joe his first clean loss of his TNA career. He become a mainstay in TNA for over a decade and would have more great matches with the likes of AJ Styles, Mr Anderson and Desmond Wolfe.

He was pushed strong in TNA at on point even holding every title in the promotion at the same time.
