2. Roman Reigns vs. Kazuchika Okada

THE BIG DOG! Whether you like Roman Reigns or not, whether he’s a champion or not, he’s the biggest deal in WWE. Certainly among the full timers. One interesting thing about Roman is that he’s only ever been in the WWE system. That means he’s never faced anybody that hasn’t been under WWE contract at the time, which opens up an entire world of dream matches for him.

THE RAIN MAKER! Like Okada or not, he’s been New Japan’s top star through their recent upswing in business & critical success. His recently ended 720-day reign as IWGP Heavyweight Champion is the longest in the title’s history, and he’s held the title for more combined days than anybody. He’s gone around the world & even had a stint in TNA, but he’s never crossed paths with Roman Reigns.

The Rain Maker Pose vs…does Roman’s pose have a name? I’m not sure, but this would be pretty cool.

Honorable Mention: AJ Styles vs. Kenny Omega

The match that New Japan set up on AJ’s way out the door. Omega usurped Styles’ role as leader of Bullet Club at New Year’s Dash 2016, sending Styles off to WWE to complete his career. Kenny also took AJ’s spot as the best gaijin wrestler in Japan, having numerous epic matches and being considered the Best in the World by a good percentage of wrestling fans.

Styles hasn’t exactly slacked off in WWE. He’s become the face of SmackDown Live & perennial WWE Champion. If you ask most WWE fans who the best in-ring performer is, he would be at or near the top of the list depending who you ask. He’s established himself as one of the best of his generation.

WWE Champion vs IWGP Heavyweight Champion in a first-time meeting with a backstory? Talk about a dream match!

Why is it honorable mention? Because it technically happened in 2006 for PCW in Canada.

What about The Undertaker vs. Sting???

It’s another Dream Match that everyone wants to see. Much like Omega vs. Styles, it also happened already. With Sting effectively retired, I can’t really include this as a 2018 Dream Match.

1. Daniel Bryan vs. The Undertaker

Two men that have had repeated ups & downs with Kane. Two men that in different ways could be considered the Conscience of WWE. I think we’re past the point where we worry about size differential making Daniel Bryan matches less believable. Hell, we’re surprised if he’s not remarkably smaller than his opponent. He’s a name that would be big enough to sell a match with Undertaker.

I’d go full stop with the Kane involvement & make him the special guest referee. Does he side with his brother or his best friend? Does he go after both of them? Do they team up against him? Does everybody celebrate afterwards anyway? Bryan vs. Undertaker wouldn’t be an MOTYC & I think it’d last somewhere between Undertaker’s Cena & Rusev matches this year., but it would be among the most memorable moments of the year.
