8. Setting a Record

One of Kane’s stand out moments came in the 2001 Royal Rumble when in a single Rumble he eliminated 11 men. At first it just looks like the typical big man clears house but as the match went on he eliminated more and more people. A mix from Steve Blackman to Honky Tonk Man to The Rock.

He made it to the final 2 before being eliminated by Austin. This always set Kane apart from everyone else and was used to make him seem like a favourite in future rumbles.

This record would be broken by Roman Reigns in 2014 because we’re not allowed to have nice things.

7. Katie Vick

Remember those downs I mentioned this is a big one. In 2002 Kane was Intercontinental Champion and was going up against World Champion Triple H in a title vs title match. Instead of selling the match on that it was decided the match need something more.

The answer somehow was accusing Kane of being a murder. That was bad enough has it didn’t line up with the backstory we’d been given but all hope was lost when Triple H pretended to have intercourse with a corpse. After all this the bad guy didn’t even get his comeuppance Triple H beat Kane and the IC title disappeared for several months.

6. His Unmasking

For the first few years of Kane’s career his most notable feature was his mask and fans wondered what he looked like underneath. Questions were answered in 2003 Kane lost a title vs mask match on an MSG RAW to Triple H. God Triple H really wanted to mess with Kane around this time.

Kane hesitated at first but ultimately unmasked. People were disappointed at the lack of scars but I argue how would that work. If they used make up to make it look like he had scars it would have looked terrible and would probably have sweat off during a match.

sWhat I did like about this period is Kane went back to truly acting like a monster again.
