Greg DeMarco points out why no one should be surprised that WWE advertising still features Dean Ambrose.

Coming out of the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event (I was tbere), the biggest story didn’t involve winners Becky Lynch or Seth Rollins. It wasn’t the possible break for Ronda Rousey, either. In fact it had nothing to do with any storylines at all. It was all about Dean Ambrose.

In case you haven’t been paying attention (or your internet was out like Andrew Balaz), the biggest story coming out of Royal Rumble weekend was the reported departure of Dean Ambrose from WWE after WrestleMania season. The company itself “confirmed” the reports, going full government with Ambrose’s name and everything.

The world (including myself, Patrick, and Miranda) can’t stop talking about it, either. Dean Ambrose has been a fixture in WWE since The Shield made their debut at the 2012 Survivor Series, when he along with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns became three of the most talked about talents in over a decade. Soon Rollins may be all alone.

Dean Ambrose Still Advertised

Today it was revealed that Dean Ambrose is still advertised for upcoming events, causing many to wonder what’s up. I honestly can’t figure out why this is even a question.

Dean Ambrose hasn’t been this over since cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase on Seth Rollins (right after he won the WWE Championship from Roman Reigns) on the night all three Shield members were world champion.

Why wouldn’t he be advertised?

Remember, this is the company that advertised John Cena for the Royal Rumble match all the way up to show day until revealing that he would be replaced by Braun Strowman. The same Strowman, mind you, that was announced to challenge Brock Lesnar until being replaced by Finn Balor.

Sill surprised?

Don’t be. We haven’t talked about the fact that this may all be an elaborate work. Don’t think WWE would work you? You mist have forgotten WrestleMania 30, where the Daniel Bryan story was set into motion in August and you still didn’t believe it until WrestleMania itself.

Then there’s the fact that even IF this is real, the company can still use it to their advantage. Dean has never been hotter, and heat draws money.

So revel in the fact that you don’t know the whole story. Let it play out. If you’re a Dean Ambrose fan, the next few months could be a lot of fun.
