A Block:
- Shiozaki wins: Win over Kaito or Draw with Kaito & loss or Draw by Mochizuki
- Mochizuki wins: Win over Soya with Draw between Shiozaki & Kaito, or Kaito victory turns into play-in rematch between Mochi & Kaito.

Results:
B Block: Yoshiki Inamura vs Shuhei Taniguchi
Inamura comes out fast, which seems to take Shuhei by surprise. This must be Inamura’s frustration of being 0-4 on this last day of Round Robin action. He’s proven himself, but not well enough for any points in the tournament. So a few clubbing blows, a Scoop Slam and Warrior Splash give him a quick 2 count.
Shuhei starts to fire back with his unique Headbutts, then he catches Inamura with a Polish Hammer, German Suplex, and tries the Punt Kick twice, but Inamura avoids the first two. There’s more back and forth, but the Tiny Tank starts running out of gas as Shuhei continues to weave in Headbutts and Suplexes. He gets Inamura down, not one, but two Punt Kicks put the match away for Shuhei!
A Block: Manabu Soya vs Kazushi Sakuraba
This was a very simple story told, where Soya was looking to exert his power and Sakuraba was trying to dodge it at all costs. He would feign into a Greco Roman Knuckle Lock, just to hunt for a leg pick or an arm submission and it was quite fun watching the frustration grow. Sakuraba was hunting for every limb, and Soya retreated to the ropes quite a bit, everything was going in the favor of Mr. 200IQ.
After getting a near submission with a Key Lock, Sakuraba goes back to the well but Soya figured it out to a degree. He fought around with the Key Lock and then managed to hook Sakuraba’s head with the free arm and turn it into a cradle. So between the Cradle and how Sakuraba tied himself up for the Key Lock, Soya wins!
A Block: Masa Kitamiya vs Masaaki Mochizuki
Another simple but effective story where Mochizuki still has an outside chance to win his block, but he needs to win this match. Kitamiya however won’t go down easily and they both prove to be fairly evenly matched.
Mochizuki uses his kicks and some quality ring positioning to catch Kitamiya in bad spots; but Kitamiya will respond in kind with Suplexes and Lariats to give himself a moment to catch his breath. This beautiful tug of war continued through the entire match, both men kicking out of effective signatures and trying to land the knockout blow. All things look good for Mochizuki as he runs to the corner for his Triangle Kick, but Kitamiya Catches him and hits an Elevated Saito Suplex as a counter, and picks up the win!

B Block: Kenoh vs Takashi Sugiura
This is a pivotal matchup, since both men have a shot at winning their block. Sugiura needs help and would need to wrestle a tiebreaker, but Kenoh could win straight up if Nakajima loses his match (and Kenoh wins of course). So there’s a lot on the line here.
Sugiura has his way with Kenoh in the early goings, so Kenoh does something we saw earlier in his match with Taniguchi, and he starts to go for a more acrobatic Junior style. He pulls off the Cartwheel off the Apron and then the Overhead Kick to finally set things in motion for him. Kenoh brings it back into the ring, hits the Rolling Double Knees and goes for a PK, but Suigura puts the brakes on that.
Kenoh gets rocked and he’s put through the paces once more, but this time Sugiura pulls out a Boston Crab and sits down deep as Kenoh slowly struggles to ropes. Suigura lets him up after the rope break and we have a good ole fashioned strike exchange. Kenoh’s kicks and Sugiura’s forearms, until the big ending to the exchange is both hitting simultaneous Front Kicks. After they get up, now we get dueling simultaneous Front Kicks, the stubbornness of both men is through the roof.
The trading doesn’t end, but Kenoh does manage to get a small opening. He goes to the top and hits his Diving Footstomp into Sugiura’s kidneys, then attempts the normal one, but Sugiura moves and tries the Ankle Lock. Kenoh blocks the Ankle Lock, tries to kick Sugiura’s head off, but Sugiura catches him with the Front Neck Lock and Kenoh passes out.
With the win, now Sugiura needs to hope for Marufuji’s victory and they will have a Play-In match.
B Block: Katsuhiko Nakajima vs Naomichi Marufuji
To tie into the story from the last match, Sugiura is seen in the background watching the match, since it’s important to him. As for the match, they start off slowly, and Nakajima hits some of the earlier offense. A few kicks, a gorgeous Water Wheel Kick while Marufuji is perched on the top rope and then we go to some outside action.
While on the outside, Marufuji actually starts to put some things together. Hammerlocks laced over ropes and through guardrails, and strikes that Nakajima hasn’t found a counter for yet. He rams Nakajima into the post left shoulder first, which works towards a set up for the True Tiger King and the Perfect Key Lock. Nakajima’s personality starts taking over his motions even during the Count Out. He walks over to commentary to talk with them before rolling in at 19, and then he starts to get the best of Marufuji and we see his corner Picture Pose.
Marufuji takes exception to it, and pops up and catches Nakajima with a hook kick while he’s playing to the crowd. The momentum swings wildly as Marufuji misses his corner combination, then Nakajima hits an Uranage Suplex, Marufuji kicks Nakajima’s legs out from under him, but Nakajima retreats to the corner, hits a Drop Toe Hold, then does a few of his Turnbuckle Kicks. Once it looks like Nakajima is putting something together, Marufuji manages to grab the arm and go for the Perfect Key Lock.
Nakajima breaks the submission, but Marufuji stays on him with a Hook Kick and KO-OH, followed up quickly with a Shiranui, but it’s too close to the ropes so Nakajima gets his foot up before 3. A few kick dodges from both, Marufuji hits a body KO-OH, but can’t capitalize as Nakajima hits Vertical Spike, but covers slow, so it’s only a near fall. Nakajima is the first one up, Punt Kick, and then shoves off the referee and uses the Diamond Bomb to win B Block!

A Block: Go Shiozaki vs Kaito Kiyomiya
Another decider match and this one with the GHC Heavyweight champion. Winner faces Katsuhiko Nakajima, so conventional wisdom makes you figure it will be Kaito, since they don’t want to waste the Go/Nakajima face off just yet.
Kaito comes out strong, with strikes, headlock takedowns and trying to assert himself against the man who dethroned him as champion in January. This comes off as more of an even match, so Shiozaki is more wrestling a solid match as opposed to the “held together by tape fire up through it” stories he’s been telling. Kaito continues to fight back with his signature moves and really tries to work on the Sleeper Hold.
The Sleeper Hold transitions into the Neck Crank that Kaito started employing, and it’s all smart offense. He wrenches on Shiozaki’s neck, which softens things for the Neck Crank or possibly the Tiger Suplex, all finishers that put pressure on the neck and shoulders. Shiozaki breaks the hold, looks worse for wear, but gets some space after a desperation lariat.
Kaito charges the corner, but Shiozaki gets a foot up. Then he grabs Kaito and powers him up to the middle rope for an Avalanche Brainbuster. Shortly after that, we see Shiozaki pull off the Go Flasher, but only for 2. Kaito fights back and we see Go grab him and pull of the Limit Breaker to slow the momentum. Kaito no sells a little, they face each other, charge and Shiozaki levels him with a Lariat. Shiozaki goes to the ropes for a Moonsault, but Kaito stops that and we see some positioning struggles.
A near Avalanche Brainbuster, turns into an Avalanche Reverse DDT from Kaito to Shiozaki, only a near fall though. Kaito then hits an Emerald Flowsion, again only for 2, but the damage seems to have been severe to Shiozaki’s neck. Tiger Suplex gets locked in, held on with a bridge and Kaito wins!
Overall Score: 8/10
Now this final day had 6 matches, which is technically the most (not counting the day and evening show event together). Because of that, certain matches felt like they lost a little bit of a punch, since some match-ups didn’t matter and were purely a formality. The pivotal matches really stepped up the energy towards the end of the show.
Nakajima had a fairly dominate tournament, now he just needs to put Kaito away to get a shot at Shiozaki for the title. Funnily enough, when I asked a few weeks ago if the Draw was going to hurt Sugiura, look at what happened, he lost the block by exactly that 1 point. Kaito also recovered nicely from having a fairly down year, punctuated with his failure to beat Keiji Muto. Can he overcome a twisted Nakajima?
Final Standings:
A Block:
- Kaito Kiyomiya: (3-1-1) – 7 Points (Winner)
- Go Shiozaki: (3-2) – 6 Points (Eliminated)
- Masaaki Mochizuki: (2-2-1) – 5 Points (Eliminated)
- Kazushi Sakuraba: (2-3) – 4 Points (Eliminated)
- Manabu Soya: (2-3) – 4 Points (Eliminated)
- Masa Kitamiya: (2-3) – 4 Points (Eliminated)
B Block:
- Katsuhiko Nakajima: (4-1) – 8 Points (Winner)
- Takashi Sugiura: (3-1-1) – 7 Points (Eliminated)
- Kenoh: (3-2) – 6 Points (Eliminated)
- Naomichi Marufuji: (2-2-1) – 5 Points (Eliminated)
- Shuhei Taniguchi: (2-3) – 4 Points (Eliminated)
- Yoshiki Inamura: (0-5) – 0 Points (Eliminated)

Andrew’s TNA iMPACT! Results & Match Ratings: 11.7.2024
Moose challenges for the X Division Championship and Wendy Choo & Rosemary have their Demonic NoDQ grudge match!
Well tonight’s show we should get some solid action and hopefully some build toward Turning Point and Final Resolution as we round out 2024. Moose challenges Speedball for the X Division Championship, the other half of the Elegance Clique will wrestle Jody Threat to solidify their Knockouts tag bid, Demon battle as Wendy Choo and Rosemary have it out and then there’s the matter of if Joe Hendry will find a way to get another shot at the World title when he didn’t lose it cleanly.
So there’s a few bites to take out of this apple, let’s see if we have to spit in the face of anyone who isn’t cool.

Results:
Tasha Steelz & Alisha Edwards vs Jordynne Grace & Masha Slamovich
Alisha going for the ole Bob Orton gimmick and walks out with the neck brace on even though she’s medically cleared to compete. I appreciate it.
Tasha tries to tie up with Jordynne to start, and as you can imagine, that doesn’t go well. Shoulder Tackle sends Tasha into her corner, she tags to Alisha, Alisha tries to hype herself up for a Test of Strength, Jordynne wins with one hand and Lish complains about her injured neck so the referee breaks the Test of Strength and Lish tags out quickly. Tasha comes in and Jordynne tags out, Masha works over Tasha, Masha tags out, quick tandem Suplex, Jordynne goes for a Scoop Slam and Vader Bomb but Lish picks the ankle causing Jordynne to fall on the ropes. Tasha with the Back Stabber, and Lish calls to get tagged back in and tries to sink in a Sleeper Hold, but Jordynne fights through and Lish tags out as soon as things start to go against her.
Tasha connects with a PK, twerks in Jordynne’s face and Jordynne just slaps her ass as she gets up. Tasha tries a Satellite DDT, but Jordynne stops it and counters into a Sidewalk Slam. Tags out to Masha and Masha runs over Tasha, big Capo Kick for the pinfall but Lish breaks it up. Masha gets distracted with Lish, Tasha Codebreaker causes Masha to tag out. A few Vader Hammers into the Backfist, but Tasha ducks the Backfist and hits the Blackout! Masha breaks up the pin and Tasha tags out to Lish. Heels try to double team Jordynne but she shrugs both off, Masha goes for the Blind Tag, walks in and barely even locks in the Sleeper Hold and Lish taps out soo damn fast.
Lish is a great character. The fact that she gets her gimmick over more than trying to just to derpy moves makes her matches enjoyable. She gets pro wrestling.
NoDQ Match: Wendy Choo vs Rosemary
The video package I put at the top of the article makes this split make a ton of sense. Rosemary has abandonment issues, but The Hive decided on a preemptive strike. So if anything it babyfaced them both, but how do you babyface demons? Let’s see.
They start off just exchanging Head Smashes into the corner, Wendy gets the best of it, goes for her Diving Nap Elbow, Cartwheel Forearm and High Bootwash, but Rosemary slows down Wendy with The Upside Down. Wendy manages to escape and tie Rosemary into the Tree of Woe, she hammers away, tries to get her pillow but Rosemary counters and sends Wendy into the steps. Rosemary starts taking Wendy to task on the outside, cables and weapons, as she throws Wendy back into the ring and tries to use her cane for extra leverage in a submission, but Wendy fights through, both level each other with Lariats, do a double zombie rise and go to the corner, Wendy hits the Monkey Flip, grabs her pillow finally and starts using it in her offense. Night Night with the Pillow off the middle rope, but Rosemary kicks out at two. Sleeper attempt from Wendy but Snapmare into a Spear gives Rosemary the wi-oh Wendy kicked out.
Rosemary grabs the cane, Wendy tries to counter with a Full Nelson Bomb, but Rosemary bites her and manages to lock in the As Above So Below with the Cane, and Rosemary wins.
Well that match was fine, and now it looks like we’re getting another filler match because of the injuries from tapings. So TNA is bringing back From the Vaults to cover for the lost time. At least there’s a precedent so it doesn’t seem too silly and I appreciate them trying to give people something they haven’t seen in lieu of just throwing out a Golden era match or something.

Joe Hendry comes out to talk after the Rascalz vignette. And I almost wanted to be mad at more talking, but Hendry has a meme music video about Ryan Nemeth! He sets it up as going through all of his accomplishments and its as simple as “He’s Nic Nemeth’s brother…the end”. It was all to set up a challenge to Ryan, but I’m glad Hendry just went for the obvious joke and steered hard.

The vignettes have been pretty damn good this episode. And it looks like Genesis is back for 1.19.2025. You know, Hard to Kill hasn’t been announced, so maybe the name belongs to Scott D’Amore so they’re going back to Genesis as their lead PLE. Little disappointed by that, but business is business.
Heather by Elegance w/ASH & Personal Concierge vs Jody Threat w/Dani Luna
Heather yanks Jody off the ropes during her entrance and takes a few cheap shots. The referee gets space, Jody of course wants to fight so the match begins and Jody starts beating the hell out of Heather. Vader Hammers in the corner, Exploder Suplex, throws Heather into the ropes, looks for her Double Knees/German spot, but ASH picks the ankle and causes a distraction. Heather takes advantage and hits the Satellite DDT, and starts stomping a mudhole into Jody. As the ref pulls off Heather, ASH gets in a few hair pulls and cheapshots as Heather lands the Hesitation Dropkick and gets a two count.
Jody fights back up to her feet, but Heather slips it and uses the hair to drag down Jody, DDT and another near fall. Heather tries to rain down some Elbows and keep Jody down, but Heather is 4 foot nothing, so it’s easy to get eye level with her. Jody Snap Suplex, runs over Heather with a few Lariats, Big Boot sends Heather into the ropes, Double Knees/German spot finally goes off. ASH hops up to the apron, Dani neutralizes them and Heather manages to pull the distracted Jody face first into the Turnbuckles, Diving Crossbody from Heather, but Jody catches her and Pop-Shove-It lands! Jody wins.
X Division Championship: Speedball Mike Bailey (c) vs Moose
Speedball is living up to his name and just coming out of the gate quick, Running Front Kicks, Triangle Moonsault to the outside, but as soon as Speedball panders to the crowd a little, Moose manages to catch him with a few kicks. Moose misses two Chops into the post though, so his left hand is already a target. They still fight on the outside, Drop Toe Hold from Bailey as Moose’s hand ricochets off the steps, Bailey goes for the PK, but misses! Let’s all remember Bailey wrestles barefoot, so…he just soccer kicked steps. That can’t feel good.
Since the match started with about 30 minutes left in the show, I’m not surprised about a commercial break. So when we get back, Moose is focusing the foot and leg, Bailey tries to fire off the ropes but Moose pops him onto his shoulders and just throws him into the corner buckles from the middle of the ring. Strong Irish Whip has Speedball looking more like a Pinball. Bailey blocks a charging Moose, perches and Moose tries the Go to Hell, but Bailey counters with a Frankensteiner! Running Shooting Star attempt but Moose rolls away and he gets up to just slam Bailey’s knee into the mat. Speedball goes for a fast Double Leg Cradle, but Moose gets out and Uranage bounces Bailey off the mat like a basketball.
Slowing things down, Moose goes for the Abdominal Stretch, tries to add leverage but Bailey manages to use the injured hand against Moose. A little back and forth as Moose Sunset Flips but Bailey blocks the grab from Moose and just executes the Backflip Knees! Moose takes an opportunistic shot at Bailey’s injured leg, and we go to another commercial. We come back and Moose flips Bailey onto the apron, Bailey manages a kick to rock Moose to the outside and lands a Springboard Corkscrew Senton. Rolls Moose back in, SHOOTING STAR PRESS…but only a two. Bailey ain’t Billy Kidman or Jushin Thunder Liger, so it’s not a finish. Both men start throwing strikes with their injured limb since its their go to strike. Chops from Moose, Round Kicks from Bailey, both start powering through the pain and go for the strikes harder before Bailey tries a few locomotion Cradle attempts but a GAME CHANGER levels Bailey! Moose tries to follow up and Bailey counters with a Code Red also only for two!
Moose retreats to the corner, Tornado Kick lands! Ultima Weapon set up but Moose hits the Million Dollar Drop Kick to counter! Both jockey with counters on the top before Bailey gets the best of things with an Avalanche Poison Rana! Bailey tries Ultima Weapon again, connects on a doubled over Moose…BUT MOOSE KICKS OUT! Tornado Kick attempt again, but Moose connects with LIGHTS OUT! Bailey powders, but Moose with another LIGHTS OUT on the outside! Moose throws Speedball back in the ring, flips off the crowd and slowly gets back in, third Lights Out attempt, but Small Package counter for two! Superkick from Bailey! Bailey goes for a Springboard Reverse Crossbody and Moose catches him midair with the Spear! Sets up…LIGHTS OUT! Moose is the X Division Champion!
Trent Seven comes out afterwards to console his tag team partner, but after a few feel good minutes, Trent with the Low Blow and a Seven Star Lariat!
Overall Score: 7/10
Fun vignettes, a pretty good TV main event even with two commercial breaks, a heel turn, solid story matches that weren’t atrocious and Trey Miguel’s best work to date. I love Wentz, but aside from the Dez references, Trey had the best lines in the Treehouse segment. Also First Cla$$ was pretty great with their reactions to Santana. And as I said during the article, Lish’s overselling of the neck and ridiculousness was actually fantastic.
So even if the match quality was a little underwhelming, and we got a filler From the Vaults match; given the reasons and potential alternatives…I was entertained the entire time. Really curious what the hell Rosemary will be doing now since she’s got abandonment issues and no longer in any title picture. But hey, questions are good to have, because it makes you want to know the answer.
Still a little sad that Hard to Kill might have been a Scott specific event. It really helped to kick off this resurgence and is so well named for the company that’s been around 22 years and everyone’s been saying is dead in the water for at least 15 of those years. Genesis is classic…but it ain’t Hard to Kill. Also we might get my goofy fantasy book idea of Feast or Fired World Title Briefcase, Option C, Gauntlet Trophy and Nemeth & Hendry being involved in a King of the Mountain match at Genesis. With so many “money in the bank” style concepts, the cluster of cash ins is bound to happen eventually.

Lee Moriarty speaks.
“When I won this championship, I said that I was gonna push the Pure Division into a Renaissance. I said I was gonna make things interesting again, and now you’ve got one of the most decorated men in ROH’s history in Matt Taven entering the Pure Division to challenge me. So you’re welcome. But Matt, don’t get it twisted. There are levels to Pure Wrestling, and you are not on mine. So when we step in that ring, I’m going to show you that I am one of the best technical wrestlers in the world, because my name is Lee Moriarty, and this is Taiga Style.” Taven has been called out, will he and Lee tear it up in a historic title match?
Sammy Guevara w/ Dustin Rhodes VS Preston Vance!
The Sons of Texas may have Dutch & Vincent hunting them down, but they’re not hard to find. Sammy’s already back in this ring, ready to fight! Will the Spanish God show The Righteous they’re in over their heads? Or will Perro Peligroso take a bite out of an ROH World Tag Team Champion?
The Code of Honor is upheld and the bell rings. But Vance holds on! He whips Sammy to a corner, Sammy goes up and over, and he manages to torture rack! Vance slips free, but Sammy ducks the discus! Roll-up, TWO! Sammy whips, Vance reverses, and Vance CLOBBERS Sammy! Things keep moving, Sammy drops down, hurdles, then backflips over to DROPKICK! Vance bails out while Sammy kips up so smooth! The fans fire up and Sammy fakes the slingshot to backflip and spin! Sammy poses, Vance runs in, but Sammy BOOTS the lariat! JUMP KNEE, and the fans fire up! Sammy wheelbarrows, but Vance HOTSHOT GERMANS!

The Righteous have a match scheduled for later tonight, will The Sons of Texas have to find them then?
Backstage interview with Athena.
Lexy Nair, as she cradles the ROH Women’s World Championship belt, says that Athena has called this Emergency Minion Empowerment Meeting, aka MEM. Athena says, “That’s right, minions~!” Last week, she was in the main event Ring of Horrors match for Halloween, and she killed The Living Dead Girl! “Isn’t that right, Pwecious?” Athena baby talks to the title in Lexy’s arms, then spins the picture on the other belt as she says she is the FOREVER ROH Women’s Champion, the Minion Overlord, the Fallen Goddess, but it is time to take this even more worldwide!
A couple weeks ago, Athena beat some porcelain hussy in Canada. Now it’s time to beat hussies in The UK. Lexy says, “Ello!” France! “Bonjour!” India! “Namaste!” China! Uh… Nihao! Oh, Japan. Konnichiwa! Every porcelain hussy around the world is gonna shake in her boots, because “Watashi wa-” Oh, Billie Starkz steps in. And Athena says Bestie can handle this. Lexy says Billie needs to think this over in Minion Timeout.
Lexy leaves and Billie is seething. What is there for the follower to apologize for when the leader’s been the one going off the rails?
Rachael Ellering VS Diamante!
The Queen of Strong Smile wants to prove herself worthy of a championship, and the Cuban Diamond wants to redeem herself from losing her cool. Will Diamante keep her emotions in check? Or will she self-destruct like she did against Red Velvet?

Matt Taven speaks.
“Everyone’s gonna come in front of this camera and give you their opinion. Every wrestler that you’ve ever seen is going to state their opinion, and you know what they say about opinions. Everyone’s got one and they all stink. The reason why I’m so different is because I spit nothing but facts to you. Lee, I think you’re a fantastic wrestler and I’ll take nothing away from you. But you don’t realize who I am. You don’t realize there’s one man that can give you the facts and can say he’s a Grand Slam Champion, that can say he’s one away from completing the whole set. And he is I, and I am him, and I’m Matt Taven.
“And I hold nothing against you, Lee, like I said, but I’m looking at a puzzle that’s missing one piece. And a man with OCD like myself cannot stand looking at this puzzle that is missing one piece! And you have it! SO that Pure title, the one that has gotten away from me… All I need is to bring that home to my Kingdom. My Undisputed Kingdom.” Taven knows what makes Taiga Style dangerous, but will nothing stop Taven from becoming the first and ONLY ROH Five Star Champion?
The Righteous VS ???
Good ol’ Dutch & Vincent attacked Dustin & Sammy last week, and then gave a warning earlier tonight. But now- DUSTIN & SAMMY ATTACK! The Sons of Texas return the favor with their own ambush! They do their best to separate the teams, but fans want to “LET THEM FIGHT!” Dustin breaks free, and fight is what we get!
The fans fire up as Dustin HAMMERS Dutch against railing! Sammy almost gets at Vinnie again, and Dutch is busted open! The ROH World Tag Team Champions control the ring now, but The Righteous love it! This is exactly what they wanted?! Are Dutch & Vinnie trying to drag Dustin & Sammy down into the darkness with them? Who rises up out of that abyss with the gold?
The Infantry talk backstage.
Carlie says, “This is a brilliant idea,” and Dean has the cameraman follow. The Infantry joins Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty in the locker room, and they get everyone else to stand at attention. Guys, you all know them, this is Captain Dean and “Bad News & Tattoos” Bravo here. But what you might not know is, they don’t really like violence, not really their style. What? Carlie wants these guys to know that they are around some very violent men. Open your ears as Shane asks a question, and please be honest. Shane asks the group, “Who here has seen Dustin Rhodes?” The others aren’t sure, even though we just saw Dustin & Sammy at ringside…
Lee gets impatient and he BOOTS a guy right down! Carlie says he warned them. It would behoove them to answer. One guy says Dustin was at catering. Oh, is that so? The Infantry then beat up that guy and everyone else! And then TWO 2 THE HEAD! Shane then looks to the camera to tell “Mr. Rhodes” that he doesn’t like thieves. And Dustin is currently in possession of stolen property. This doesn’t stop until they get those items back. Rumble, bad man, rumble. Carlie hopes the guys have a good night. Will Dustin have to call on The Von Erichs for this one?
ROH Rewind – ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships: The Mexisquad VS Shane Taylor Promotions!
We flashback to February 19th, 2021, in Baltimore, Maryland for a big time ROH Wrestling TV main event! Shane had Bishop Kaun & Moses Maddox by his side that night as they took on Bandido, Flamita & Rey Horus! Will this match serve as a history lesson to Dustin & The Von Erichs here in 2024?
The introductions are made, the belts are raised, and we see who made it out of “Bodymore” in one piece!
The Code of Honor is upheld, so there is still respect here. The trios then sort out, and Shane starts against Horus. But then STP rushes Mexisquad at the bell, so much for respect! Moses runs up again, but Bandido goes Matrix, then hits the slow-mo kip up! Bandido dodges Moses, shoves him to ropes, then follows to spin and wrench, spin and CUTTER! Moses scrambles, hot tag to Shane! Bandido backs off to tag in Horus. Horus sees just how big Shane is, but he dodges Shane to SOBAT, KICK, repeat! Then ROLLING ELBOW! Shane stays up, he blocks the whip, and he whips Horus. Horus goes up and up and backflips over!
Horus hurdles Shane, goes up and out to then HOTSHOT Shane! Horus goes up top to then FLYING RAN- NO! Shane stops the rana, swings Horus up and then throws him! Horus lands out, ducks ‘n’ dodges, then runs, but into a FLAPJACK! Shane winds up, but Horus dodges! Horus comes back, but Shane CLOBBERS him! STP stands tall, and this is where ROH TV took its break.
ROH TV returned as Kaun tags Moses. They put Horus in a corner, then whips corner to corner. Horus goes up and over, swings on Kaun, but Kaun shoves him to Moses. Mexisquad mugs Kaun, brings him around, and double whip. They drop, bypass, and DOUBLE ELBOW Kaun! Then they stand Kaun up to feed into a TU LO SABE BOMB!! Bandido stands Kaun back up so Flamita can SOBAT, Horus can KICK, and then Bandido runs to tilt-o-whirl with Flamita, SWINGING LEG SWEEP! Kaun is down, Bandido puts him in the drop zone. Flamita runs, FLAPJACK SPLASH! Cover, Moses breaks it again!
Moses runs but into DOUBLE SUPERKICKS! Shane runs up, KNEES Horus low and TOSSES him aside! Bandido ROCKS Shane, Flamita joins in, and they stand Shane up to fire shots. Horus runs, tilt-o-whirls with Bandido, but Shane switches with Flamita so Flamita takes the POP-UP DDT!! Mexisquad freaks out, but Bandido runs up on Shane. Shane blocks a kick and sends it into Horus! Shane gets that leg back, FLIPS Bandido and KNEES him down! Moses runs in to DOUBLE LARIAT Bandido y Horus up and out! Then Moses goes up and out to CANNONBALL them both to the floor! Shane hits Flamita with an URENAGE!
Shane runs to SPLASH DOWN! Cover, TWO!! Flamita survives, but Shane hauls him right up! Scoop and WELCOME TO THE LAND!! Cover, STP WINS!
Winners: Shane Taylor Promotions, by pinfall (NEW ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions)
And this is why in 2024, Shane says these titles are HIS property. Granted, STP would lose these belts nine months later at Final Battle 2021, but that means Shane’s been missing these belts for three years. Will Shane and the new STP look to get these belts back come Final Battle 2024?
My Thoughts:
A very good episode but an hour and 50, partially because of the ROH Rewind, I just couldn’t get the time or energy on this one to really watch it all. A lot of obvious outcomes, really one of those episodes that feels more like AEW Dark is back than ROH. I will say, good integration of stories between AEW and ROH, though. Nick Wayne and AR Fox each won very competitive matches, but then Nick of course goes after Fox after his match to build heat for their match on Collision this week. There’s a chance Hook gets involved so that Fox wins and that pisses Christian Cage off. Plus, with how Christian is already starting to favor Kip Sabian more than Nick, Christian could start belittling Nick like he did Luchasaurus.
Very good match from Rachael VS Diamante, and Diamante won because clearly she and Red Velvet are having a rematch. I would hope they make the rematch into a No Disqualification match after that really confusing finish the last time. Leyla had a solid return win, I feel like she’ll be waiting on the other side of Velvet VS Diamante. I like that “LEE-J” is the official tag team name for Nduka & Johnson, and they got a very good win tonight. Sammy VS Vance was solid stuff, but of course Sammy won. And I for one appreciate that Dustin & Sammy get payback on The Righteous so that it’s one less actual match on the card tonight.
Though, there’s some redundancy in this show that makes me wonder if they just mashed segments from different taping sessions together. Righteous didn’t need to spook Dustin & Sammy if they were having their match later, and really, the attack from Dustin & Sammy should’ve been THE segment between them this week. Then while we got great stuff from Shane Taylor Promotions, there was also some redundancy as they now build towards a Six Man title story with The Sons of Texas. Shane didn’t need to ask about Dustin when we all saw Dustin & Sammy go after The Righteous. In a vacuum, Infantry showing more Heel personality by beating up the randos is good, but we should’ve gotten this instead of opening with Infantry beating jobbers.
My Score: 8.5/10
