WWE Raw Talk

The last Raw Talk of 2020 is LIMITLESS!

The year is almost over, but there’s still time for Raw Talk! So don’t you dare be sour, the New Day, Asuka and Keith Lee will be here to close out 2020!

#CharTruth welcomes us back to the show!

Charly Caruso and R-Truth are pretty sure this is everyone’s favorite show. But they have found their groove, even though Truth’s mic isn’t working. But as cohosts, they should have each other’s backs. So did Truth not see Charly was having a moment with someone she used to like, and then he ruins the moment coming through there? Not that she wants anything to do with that loser, but you never know. And then Truth stole the spotlight. Truth says he’s never stolen anything. And Charly is selfish, did she not see the mob chasing him? Is this not their baby? She has a part in the 24/7 Championship, so she should be concerned about Truth. That’s right, she is happy Truth got away from the ninjas. And she doesn’t want anything to do with Garza. “New year, new me!”

So moving on to business, Randy Orton looked to set Alexa Bliss on fire because she demanded him to! She drenched herself in gasoline! She is going nuts, call it what it is. But then Raw went off the air and we saw nothing. So what happened? Truth says Randy is being Randy, but he stays out of the cuckoo business. Orton has fire, Alexa wants fire, but stay away from fire. Is Bray gone? Burned? Is it even Bray or just The Fiend? They are one in the same and yet… But Charly wants to move away from the darkness and into the light. That brings up the first guest of the night, the LIMITLESS #1 contender!

Keith Lee joins Raw Talk!

Truth tells Keith he can have his choice of the seats, because there’s two. Keith remembers the “situation” that happened last time, and he takes a seat. They wait, it sinks just a little, and it’s good. Now what was that about #1 contender? Charly says Keith had a win tonight, and he is here as the new challenger to Drew McIntyre’s WWE World Championship. That match happens on Legend’s Night, the first Raw of 2021! And that is the perfect time to have it, as it will create a legend. Truth says Keith should compagionate in that. What? He means Keith is taking it all in.

Charly says it will be a big opportunity, and she brings up her interview with McIntyre. McIntyre’s thoughts were that Keith finally stepped up. The look in Keith’s eye had the spark that he needs to reach the top. A motivated Keith Lee can beat anyone on any given night, except for McIntyre. Keith appreciates that, actually. As someone who respects McIntyre, Keith accepts all the kindness and words, but the fact remains. McIntyre supported a man who takes cheap shots, and Keith has problems with that. Keith says McIntyre can say what he wants, but it is clear McIntyre doesn’t see Keith on his level. But Legend’s Night will be an opportunity to create the legend of the Limitless Lee-gion.

Charly says there was more a miscommunication. Does Keith not see McIntyre as a person of his word? Keith doesn’t want to believe that, but we’ve seen the #CharTruth. If you see the truth in front of you, you have to believe it. McIntyre vouched for Sheamus, but Sheamus still turned on Keith. Sheamus got what he deserved, and now Keith has another chance at the title. Before, Keith had reservations over McIntyre’s injured jaw. But there’s none of that now. Both men are 100%, and McIntyre is friends with someone who took a cheap shot. Charly understands it a bit better now, in that it isn’t about McIntyre but who McIntyre supports. Birds of a feather.

Keith points out McIntyre used the same smirk he gave Sheamus when Sheamus got the jump on Keith. If they’ve known each other for 15 years, then yes, McIntyre should’ve known better about Sheamus. Charly also wants to point out that last line, where McIntyre still doesn’t see Keith on the same level. Keith says that is fine. You have to believe in yourself or no one else will. But that works for Keith, too. Keith has believed in Keith, and the truth we saw tonight will lead to the truth next week, and that truth is that Keith is up to any and all challenges as a legend in the making, no one can stop him, period. What a way to end 2020 and being 2021! Especially if Keith ends the match and the announcer says, “And NEW WWE World Champion…!” And that is the #CharTruth. Truth says, “Check please!”

The New Day joins Raw Talk!

Xavier Woods comes in with “Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah…!” #RIPJonHuber. But show off the jeans, Truth! Truth has holes, splatter, and paint. And Truth admits to the ashy knees. But New Day is feeling great because they knew Big E would get it done. Why does Truth go low on the fist bump? This awkwardness needs to stop. Charly can do it better. They rewatch Big E hit the splash and the Big Ending to win the title on Christmas Friday! New champion, just as they told everyone!

And the New Day are going to put some respect on a name that deserves it. BRODIE LEE, LUKE HARPER, GATOR, JON HUBER. A true friend, a fantastic human who did so much for this industry. The lives he touched, the way he made people in the business feel. Whether it was a wrestler, a staff member, part of the production crew, catering, a fan, Huber was someone who isn’t just extremely important to Woods, but to everyone in the WWE, and they will all miss him a lot. “We love you, and we wish we could see you again.” Charly says how amazing it was to see the love pouring out this whole time, and thanks Woods for sharing that.

Kofi says we’ve seen all the posts online, Huber was an amazing father. So many stories about their kids because they’re cut from the same cloth. The kids would get together and call themselves “The New Day Kids,” and it was just an amazing bond with Huber. You see how many lives he’s touched in the business, in the ring, and outside. Like Woods said, Huber will be missed, and it’s just crazy. Let us just take a moment to remember him for the man that he was, the legacy that he leaves, and keep him in your thoughts.

Charly doesn’t know how to continue past that, but that was something that needed to be said so it is great for the New Day to be the ones to bring Huber up. A life cut way too short. Truth says Huber would’ve helped with the ashy knees. Get that baby lotion and all that. Is this time for New Day to go so they can stop teasing Truth? They’ll leave Truth some lotion in his luggage. Maybe some Shea butter. The New Day head out, for the Empress of Tomorrow to walk in!

Asuka joins Raw Talk!

Truth is pumped to have #EmpressTwoBelts here and she’s pumped to be here! Asuka sets up both belts then takes a seat. How is she? Good! Sugoi! Yay~, Japanese! Wait, what was that? Truth and Asuka keep that as an inside joke. But Charly brings up Asuka becoming Women’s Tag Team Champion with Charlotte Flair, with a great surprise at TLC. How is it being champions together? Charlotte has great skills and experience, and Asuka will never forget that WrestleMania match against each other. That gives them a long history.

Charly asks how Asuka decided to make Charlotte her tag partner. Well, Asuka wished to have Lana, but she also wanted the best substitute possible, so of course it was Charlotte. Charly says that’s a smart move, especially given they were facing Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Nia and Shayna are still after them, of course, so how do Asuka and Charlotte fend them off? Asuka says she HATES Nia and Shayna! So rude! Shayna got in the ring, goes after Charlotte, stealing Charlotte’s win! Truth can tell Asuka is ready to put Shayna down. Charly understands that, Truth should understand that. If it was someone he hates. Right, of course!

So then does Asuka have any New Year’s Resolutions? Oh yes. Keeping the Raw Women’s Championship, and then keeping the Women’s Tag Team Championship to still be double champion! Charly likes that, too. 2020 has been hell, to put it that way, so things should hopefully be all up from here. So with that, this is the end of the last Raw Talk of 2020! Hopefully everyone has a great New Year, see you in 2021!

My Thoughts:

A very fun Raw Talk to end the year on, and of course, the best part was New Day giving a strong tribute to Jon Huber there, as they had been earlier tonight on Raw itself. It is just fine that they ditched whatever kayfabe things there were going to hype up, such as the continued rivalry with Hurt Business, because what they said had to be said on WWE programming. Keith Lee’s segment was a good response to what McIntyre said in the interview promo, and while the match is going to be awesome, I can’t wait to see the character work. Will Keith try and get McIntyre to react to how he’s saying Sheamus is a bad guy? Will that in turn make Keith the bad guy? I like the possibilities.

And Asuka had a good segment, but it was all still rather recycled from Talking Smack and other interviews about why she and Charlotte teamed together. Maybe they could’ve rearranged things so that New Day ended the show with their tribute to Huber, that would’ve been a much more powerful note to end on.

Mitchell’s AEW Continental Classic Update! (11/27/23)

What a start to the tournament!

Did your picks win points?

The AEW Continental Classic is underway, with almost everyone competing. Check in here if you haven’t seen the winners and losers of week 1!

Here are your Gold League standings!

  • Jon Moxley: 1-0, 3 points
  • Swerve Strickland: 1-0, 3 points
  • Jay White: 1-0, 3 points
  • Rush: 0-1, 0 points
  • Mark Briscoe: 0-1, 0 points.
  • Jay Lethal: 0-1, 0 points

Here are your Blue League standings!

  • Brody King: 1-0, 3 points
  • Claudio Castagnoli: 1-0, 3 points
  • Daniel Garcia: 0-1, 0 points
  • Eddie Kingston: 0-1, 0 points
  • Bryan Danielson: Yet to Compete
  • Andrade El Idolo: Yet to Compete

My Thoughts:

Nothing too crazy, nothing too wild, this tournament only just got started. The only disappointing point is that they could not get Bryan “cleared to compete” Saturday night. Not sure how much of that is shoot given the bad eye, but this was kinda the problem of wanting him in the tournament over tons of other choices. Bryan wants to face Okada for WrestleKingdom 18, how is Bryan supposed to do that at his best if he’s also gonna be in a round robin, doing five top level matches in about as many weeks? And it takes away from Andrade being able to do something. Also a little surprised we didn’t even hear from Andrade on Saturday.

Now as we heard on Saturday, round two’s matches are set. Gold League will see Mark Briscoe VS Rush, White VS Swerve, and of course, Moxley VS Lethal. Nice variety there, a couple 0-1 guys facing off, as well as two 1-0 guys, and then 1-0 VS 0-1. No offense to Lethal, but he feels like an 0-2 going up against Moxley. Hard to call the other ones but that’s the fun of it. Meanwhile, Blue League sees Brody VS Claudio in a showdown to be 2-0, then Bryan and Andrade finally jump in, Bryan against Eddie and Andrade against Garcia. Sadly, feels like Eddie and Garcia are going 0-2, no way Tony Khan is booking Bryan and Andrade to lose their first shots.

In fact, that could be half the reason they did wait on those two, that’s almost too good for just a first round opener. But I still would’ve done it, same as NJPW does stuff like that for round robins, which this is all modeled after anyway.
