Backstage interview with Wes Lee.
McKenzie can’t believe he is still standing after Von Wagner tossed him out of the ring and onto the announce desk. Why did he pick a fight with Sanga, one of the biggest men on the roster? Wes says he was running on pure adrenaline when he encountered Sanga. After the pain went away, you think he’d realized his mistake. But no, he only felt disrespected. He stands by his challenge. McKenzie tries to defend Sanga, but Wes says this in the nicest way: this is something he has to do. He has to face guys like Sanga to prove to everyone, especially himself, that he can. But will Wes find that there is a point where size does matter?

Cora Jade talks with Roxanne Perez backstage.
It’s the semifinals of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament! Roxie’s got this! Just two more wins, and Roxie is ready, but Lash Legend is twice her size. But remember that time she faced Gemma Waters? Gemma took their stuff, threw it out of the locker room, but Roxanne got pissed and took the fight to her. That’s what she can do to Lash. Yeah but Cora also hit Gemma with her skateboard. No one gets to talk crap about then, not even Elektra. Elektra has a match up next, right? Wanna watch it backstage? Cora wants to watch ringside. Roxie isn’t sure Cora will behave, but Cora says she’ll just watch with a box of popcorn like the fans. Cora heads out, but will she really just watch?
Bron Breakker walks backstage.
Guru Raaj says he saw Joe Gacy’s hooded guys go into Bron’s locker room. Seriously? Bron appreciates them looking out. Bron then busts in, but no one is there. Except they left a picture of Bron and his family from when he was a kid. How did Gacy get his hands on that? Is this just another mystery steeped onto the pile?

Damon Kemp is on the phone.
He says it is what it is, but when he knows, he’ll text them. Have a good day. The Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile walk in and ask what’s going on, where’s Roderick Strong and where is Kemp’s gear? Kemp says it’s not going to happen, Strong rolled an ankle. What? How? They were sparring. Then why didn’t he tell them? So that’s it? Pretty Deadly gets off easy? Strong’s ankle better by hanging on by a thread, that is no excuse. This is Diamond Mine, that’s not how they do things here. Tape it up, lace it up, and go out to perform. Brutus almost blew his knees out with that cannonball, but Brutus would go out again anyway, right? Right! That’s the Diamond Mine way!
Kemp says he won’t get in the middle of anything, he’ll just do what’s asked of him and earn his spot. He’ll go get an update on Strong. Brutus says Pretty Deadly got lucky. That’s fine, because at In Your House, their luck runs out. Will Strong’s ankle be as bad as it seems? Will Julius & Brutus sharpen their edges and be ready to personally crush the NXT Tag Team Champions?

But some injuries, like Brooks’ hand, is on purpose. Tiffany Stratton says is Fallon really taking the easy road? Rhetorical question, because Tiffany knows who Fallon really is! The “nice country girl” act may full redneck Dumb & Dumber, but it doesn’t fool Tiffany. Fallon didn’t earn her spot.
Uh, you do not talk to Fallon or her boys like that. Fallon earned everything she has. If Tiffany wants to get at her, then yeehaw, bitch! Fallon will come right back at you! Tiffany can meet her in the ring tonight! Then it’s on! Will the Cowgirl hogtie Daddy’s Little Rich Girl and shut her up once and for all?

McKenzie asks him about the strangeness of Gacy’s goons leaving that photo in his locker room. Is he finally getting under Bron’s skin? Bron admits that was strange. But Gacy’s just trying to push Bron’s buttons. Bron’s focus will not be thrown off. But then the television screen plays footage of a football game. It’s Bron Breakker playing football in high school, running back a kick for an 85 yard touchdown. Bron remembers that game because his dad promised to be there, but missed it because he was in Japan wrestling. Is Bron okay? Yeah, he’s good. These mind games won’t work. But will that still be true the closer we get to In Your House?
Pretty Deadly speak.
The NXT Tag Team Champions are here, and Elton Prince says, “Another week, another Diamond disappointment.” Strong’s lame excuse in an injury, Kit Wilson says there’s trouble in paradise. All is not well down in the Diamond dojo. Hey, remember when they wrecked the place? More like remodeled. But they never did thank Pretty Deadly for that. And they won’t pull through at In Your House, either. Another match that the rough ‘n’ tough Creed Brothers will sample the two tastiest snacks in NXT.
You mean the team so unified that they’re two bodies, one mind? #YesBoy! The team whose locks flow in the wind like thoroughbreds running in the open field? #YesBoy! And the team that is synonymous with tag team greatness? #YesBoy! The NXT Tag Team Champions, Pretty Deadly.

Backstage interview with KC Squared.
Kayden & Katana told everyone to stop mistaking kindness for weakness. Toxic Attraction keeps dodging them so they hunted those girls down, and they found out these two won’t be denied. It doesn’t matter if this is 1.0 or 2.0, they are fed up and won’t stop until they get what they want. If Toxic Trash wants to do something about this, then they can bring their asses to In Your House, put the tag titles on the line, and we’ll see what happens. Wendy slides in and likes the sound of that. And she likes the sound of her sack o’ balls hitting Mandy upside the head. Um… Okay. But the title does look good on Wendy. Aw, thanks!
Well maybe at In Your House, Toxic Attraction enters with all the gold, but Kayden & Katana leave with the tag titles and Wendy leaves the NEW NXT Women’s Champion. She has plenty of room for the title in her pillow. Will Toxic Attraction survive as these three come after their gold?
Thea Hail speaks.
Her high school graduation is tomorrow, and she’s so excited! She and all her friends will accept their diplomas, but while her friends go off to be teachers, doctors, and executives, Thea’s going into the WWE. She studied her ass off, got accepted into some of the best colleges in the United States, but she’s up for the challenge of attending both college and train at the Performance Center. Next week, she makes her decision.
Bron Breakker is on the phone.
He isn’t sure how Gacy got footage of his high school game, but the Steiner family has to be careful. Bron has to get ready, but in walks Duke Hudson. Duke says he didn’t do any of the things going on tonight. Bron knows that, this is all Gacy. But Duke says he’s ready for tonight’s main event, so Bron better be, too. A man is dangerous when he has nothing to lose. Oh yeah? Well see you out there. Duke says he doesn’t care if Bron has daddy issues, he just needs to grow a pair. Bron shoves Duke into the locker! Duke smirks, and says Gacy was right about his predictable emotions. Bron lets Duke go, but will he show just how predictable he is in the ring?

NXT Media catches up with Tony D’Angelo and his crew.
The Don says he has no time, though. Stacks & Two Dimes won, but this thing with Legado has gone too far. It has to end at In Your House. Santos thinks he’s a businessman, but how about this? Tony isn’t asking but demanding one last meeting. As a sign of good will, the last time, Legado had to go to Tony’s turf. This time, Tony goes to Legado’s. Two Dimes asks if that’s a good idea, and Stacks says that didn’t go so well with AJ Galante getting nabbed. Tony says it’s fine, he has something in his back pocket. Plus, he’ll make Santos an offer he can’t refuse. They head out, but just what will happen with this next parley between the families?
The Robert Stone Brand regroups backstage.
Stone fumes about Josh Briggs, but says forget it! Von has pissed off a lot of people in NXT. Jiro is done, that is great. But there’s Nathan Frazer, Wes Lee, Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen. They need eyes in the back of Von’s head! Do they even have a game plan? Sophia tells Stone to relax. If they want to get noticed, they ruffle feathers, and that is what Von’s doing. Trust her, Von can handle anything that comes his way. Stone says she’s right, but will Von really be able to establish dominance?
Mandy Rose interrupts Vic Joseph.
Just as Vic and Wade Barrett were hyping up In Your House, Mandy says she wants everyone to shut up and listen. Wendy Choo is DONE. The pajamas, the slippers, the stupid pillows, and now a shot at the title? The thought of Wendy carrying this, let alone touching it, makes Mandy so sick, she’ll throw up all over Wendy’s onesie. If Wendy wants to play practical jokes on Mandy, well, Wendy, you’re the joke! Mandy says Wendy is a grown up kid, but Mandy is a grown ass woman! Jacy says KC Squared thinks they’re the only real tag team here. But let’s be real: KC Squared can’t compete with Toxic Attraction, they’re both two feet tall!
At In Your House, Toxic Attraction sends them all to little Munchkin Land with all the other Oompa Loompas. There’s a big difference between having the ball, and running with it. Toxic Attraction makes it look easy, and even with their Ninja Warrior skills, they can’t keep up. That’s because Wendy, Kayden & Katana are “insecure.” They saw how fast Toxic Attraction rose to the top, but they’ve been struggling to even get a taste. So if they want their chance, they’ve got it! But Toxic Attraction walks in as champions, and walks out as champions. Next week, they make it official! But Wendy, Kayden & Katana don’t have the balls to get the job done!
Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams visit the barbershop.
Cut Wiz is A Champion HQ as he brings up In Your House. He needs to get his title back by any means necessary. The event is called In Your House, but Trick’s been in Melo’s house. He has gold chains, gold watches, but he needs gold back around his waist. Melo hasn’t been walking right since he lost it, not talking right, he can’t recognize himself in the mirror. Take it easy, Melo, you’re still that man. Trick has a game plan: jump it twice, third time’s the charm. Grimes- shows up!? Watch out now! Uh, what’s he doing here? Grimes just wants to talk, no need to get hot. He just walks in and asks what’s wrong. Did Melo expect Grimes to jump him from behind or something?
Grimes says he wants to talk man to man, eye to eye. Last week, right before Grimes and Solo absolutely crushed Melo & Trick, Melo said he was lucky. He is lucky! The whole world might’ve been happy to see him win, but not Melo. Melo says Grimes doesn’t deserve that title. Grimes might be great in the ring, but not like Melo. He doesn’t rock that title the way Grimes does. And Grimes sure as hell ain’t The A Champion! Well, maybe he doesn’t deserve it, but he damn sure earned it. Melo was The A Champion, but that’s all: a champion. Melo says Grimes is a title holder. Well this title holder won’t run his mouth.
See, there’s this new guy from who came over from NXT UK. Some are saying he’s faster than Melo, might even be better than Melo! So how else can Grimes get ready for Melo than to beat the better Melo? Grimes VS Frazer, and then at In Your House, Grimes proves that he is better than Melo. See you then. Melo says he has nothing to prove, but will he be watching Grimes very, very closely?
Joe Gacy talks to his hooded henchmen.
Tonight, they have done a fabulous job. Clearly, they’re getting to Bron. And in the main event, they’ll make sure it sticks. Just what does Gacy have planned as his final masterpiece of manipulation?
NXT hears from a coming superstar.
In Italian, they say, “People attempt to live their ‘best life,’ and then there’s my life. Dayton on the Miranda in Venice, and when the sun goes down, the nightlife in the heart of Rome. Time is the most valuable currency in life. So why not live life in the fast lane? Status is only a negative word to those who can’t achieve it. Style is a way to speak without saying a word. Fashion is a representation of who you are. With all of my success, I am thirsty for more. Dreams are for dreamers. Goals are for achievers. Veni Vidi Vici.” Giovanni Vinci is on his way, will he live his best life in NXT?
Bron Breakker VS Duke Hudson!
The NXT Champion might be on edge after what Joe Gacy’s pulled tonight. But will Bron use that edge to cut down big bad Duke? Or will Bron end up breaking down before making it to In Your House?
NXT returns and Duke makes his entrance. The bell rings and Duke circles with Bron. Bron keeps glancing at the perch, and yes, Gacy and his hooded minions are there! Duke sees them, too, but tells Bron to focus on him. They tie up, Duke puts Bron on ropes, but the ref counts. Duke pushes Bron to a corner, throws knees, then whips him to ropes. Duke reverses and waistlocks but Duke elbows free. Bron scoops and SLAMS Duke! Bron then whips Duke to ropes and RANAS him outta nowhere! Bron then clinches Duke for an OVERHEAD Suplex! Fans bark it up, but Duke ROCKS Bron back!
Duke CLUBS Bron, stands on Bron’s leg, but the ref counts as they’re in the ropes. Duke lets off to throw Bron down and cover, TWO! Another cover, ONE! Duke rains down fists on Bron, gives him body shots and even kidney shots! Duke stomps Bron, hauls him up and whips to ropes. Bron reverses and things speed up. Bron hurdles, then gator rolls Duke out of the drop down to deadlift suplex! Bron SLAMS Duke down, and fans fire up! Duke bails out but Bron kips up! Bron dares Duke to get back in, but then he goes out after Duke. Duke CLOBBERS Bron, having suckered him in!
Duke gets Bron up and into the ring, pushes him to a cover, TWO! Duke is annoyed but he looms over Bron. Duke hauls Bron up to OVERHEAD Suplex him in return! Duke mocks the barking and fans boo, but Duke scuffs Bron with his boot. Bron gets to ropes, Duke slaps him around, but Bron shoves back. Duke BOOTS Bron down, then drags him back up. Fans rally, Bron throws body shots but Duke ROCKS him! Duke JABS Bron in the corner, follows him along ropes, but Bron throws more shots. Duke CLUBS Bron, whips him corner to corner, then runs in but into a BOOT! Fans duel, Bron runs, dodges Duke, DOUBLE LARIATS take both men down!
NXT goes picture in picture while both men stir and Gacy grins. Duke sits up first, he goes over to Bron and throws a forearm. Bron throws a haymaker, but Duke throws another forearm. Bron hits back again, they stand up and Bron throws more haymakers! Duke staggers, kicks low, and he throws body shots. Bron staggers away, Duke whips Bron corner to corner hard, and Bron bounces off buckles to hit the mat. Duke dusts off his hands, then taunts Bron while he looms over him. Duke clamps on with a chinlock and digs a knee into Bron’s back. Bron endures, fans rally up, and Bron fights his way up.
Bron throws body shots, but Duke DECKS him with a shot! Bron goes to a corner, Duke hoists him up to the top rope. Duke climbs up after Bron but Bron hits back. Duke CLUBS Bron, brings Bron up, SUPERPLEX! Duke crawls to a cover, TWO! Duke seethes, puts Bron back in the corner and hoists him back up. NXT returns to single picture as Duke climbs up again. Fans rally, Bron CLUBS Duke down, and keeps raining down hands! Duke ROCKS Bron back, Gacy and his goons have crept up to ringside. Duke goes up, Bron throws body shots and shoves Duke down! Bron adjusts but Duke TOSSES Bron onto the ropes!
Bron tumbles down to the floor and the minions look down on him. Duke goes out to fetch Bron, and he RAMS Bron into steel steps! Gacy grins while the ring count climbs. Duke puts Bron in at 7 of 10, and gets in right after to stomp Bron down. Duke stomps Bron over and over, CLUBS him down with big forearms to the face, then covers, TWO! Duke snarls and he stands over Bron again. Duke clamps onto Bron but Bron resists the camel clutch. Duke throws big crossface forearms, then gets the arms hooked. But Bron slips out the back! Bron hooks Duke up, but Duke fights and THROAT CHOPS!
Bron sputters, the ref reprimands but Duke gets Bron up and reels him in. Bron blocks the lift, and he back drops Duke away! Fans fire up and bark for Bron but Gacy is still pleased. Bron runs and rallies with big shoulders! Bron ducks and scoops to POWERSLAM! The straps come down, and Bron clotheslines Duke and himself out of the ring! Bron stands up and he stares the hooded minions down. Fans rally for Bron as he gets Duke up and in the ring at 6 of 10. But then the goons attack Bron fights them off, then gets back in the ring. Duke has a chair?! Bron kicks Duke, takes the chair, and he sees the goons get in!
Bron CLOBBERS the one, then CLOBBERS the other! Then he TOSSES one out, and Gacy gets on the apron! Bron swings that chair, but Gacy dodges! Duke turns Bron around, Bron SMACKS him with a chair!!
Winner: Duke Hudson, by disqualification
Gacy grins, because it was all according to his plan! Gacy asks Bron if these are games, or if it’s just his natural impulse. Either way, Bron can’t control himself. If Gacy pulls off the same tricks at In Your House, he’ll win the belt! Can Bron learn to control himself before he loses hold of the title?
My Thoughts:
A very good episode here, with a lot more built up towards In Your House. A shame about Nikkita Lyons, as she was a favorite for the Women’s Breakout Tournament finals. But at the same time, it seemed predictable that she and Lash would meet in the finals, and then it felt rather predictable that Lyons would win. No offense to Lash, but she’s still not quite at title contention level yet, so Roxanne getting that win was the logical move. Roxanne VS Lash was a great match, though, and Lash is improving. Tiffany getting in Fallon’s face was a rather clever way to get her into the tournament, and of course Tiffany wins that. With all the champions currently Heels, I feel like Roxie will win to get that great honor of being the first Women’s Breakout winner.
And speaking of those champions, great stuff out of Toxic Attraction and their new round of challengers. Great sneak attack from KC Squared, very good match from Mandy VS Indi, though I should’ve known Mandy would win the way she always does: Toxic Attraction distraction. T A D fits because it’s been done a tad too much. But Wendy hitting Mandy with her “ball sack” was hilarious, I loved it. Mandy VS Wendy, Jacy & Gigi VS Kayden & Katana, all great stuff, and their “championship summit” contract signing segment will be fun. I hope In Your House is where Toxic Attraction loses it all, that needs to be the next chapter in that faction’s story.
We got other good stuff from the women’s division tonight. Good promo with Cora and Roxie, and Cora being ringside for Lopez’s match was a nice detail. Fyre wins, and Lopez gets in Cora’s face, we’re definitely getting Lopez VS Cora and that’ll be a great match. Good promo from Thea Hail to hype up her appearance, but I would think she goes to a college in Florida since that’s where NXT is headquartered. Wait. Wait. What if she enrolls at Chase U!? That’d be amazing if all of this was just a way to introduce Chase U’s first official female faction member! Then if Sarray sticks around Chase U long enough, Sarray and Thea can be a tag team.
Tony D’Angelo and his guys had an okay promo to kick things off right before their match. The match was good, and I figured Stacks & Two Dimes would win. But instead of just jumping to the Six Man Tag, we’re supposedly getting another promo segment where these two factions sit together. That one better break down and set up the Six Man Tag I’ve been expecting, and that Six Man Tag better be No Disqualification since we know these guys all like to be sneaky. Then whoever comes out of this the winner can start as a faction towards multiple title feuds.
Strong being hurt is certainly more for story, and it feels like Strong is closer and closer to getting kicked out of the faction. Pretty Deadly had a good promo to harp on Strong being out, and this adds a bit of heat towards the tag title match, and I feel like Pretty Deadly retains so that Creeds can feud with Strong and Kemp. Good stuff out of Sanga VS Wes Lee, as well as Sanga getting in Quinn’s way of going after Wes. I won’t say “New tag team,” but Sanga VS Quinn would be a great match, and then maybe Wes finally gets his rematch with Quinn.
Great stuff out of Von VS Jiro, but of course Jiro was going to lose that. Sophia looks to be the actual brains of the new new Robert Stone Brand, but that seems typical for the Robert Stone Brand. Briggs stepping up for both Jiro and Brooks was great, Briggs VS Wagner will be a great hoss match. Grimes interrupting the barbershop talk was a nice twist, and I like that he’s bringing back the swagger he had before becoming champion. Grimes VS Frazer is going to be a lot of fun, and I’m sure Grimes wins to have momentum going into In Your House, but I feel it’s still anyone’s match for the North American Championship.
And with THE NXT Championship story, Gacy getting his hands on Steiner family memories was actually the most compelling stuff Gacy’s done since this feud started. Duke pushed buttons, too, and Bron naturally lost his cool, just as Gacy knew he would. And I will say, after a very good match out of Bron VS Duke, they found a very clever way to disqualify Bron and hammer home the No Champion’s Advantage point of the story. I’m sure they’ll try a very similar play at In Your House, but Bron will see through it, maybe find a way to turn it around on Gacy, and somehow survive to keep the title. Also, it seems the fans have already figured out Grizzled Young Veterans are the minions, I’m pretty sure they were chanting “Gibson Sucks!” as things went off the air.
My Score: 8.4/10

The Go Home for Genesis this Sunday! Let’s see what happens!
So Genesis is Sunday, followed by next week’s Live Episode of iMPACT! Let’s see exactly how we get to Genesis and not to bury the lead, the fact the WWE/TNA partnership was extended for a few years is very big news for TNA. More visibility for a nostalgic brand and the younger NXT wrestlers get more opportunities with potential sprinkles of a big name here or there (yes I only really mean AJ Styles, but that’s what we all want to see one more time).
Let’s get to the show and see if it’s a Go Home worth anything.
After her shocking appearance on @WWENXT, @mashaslamovich steps into the confessional with @WeAreRosemary…

Results:
Trent Seven vs Leon Slater
British on British violence! I just appreciate that Trent’s theme is a down tuned remix of Seven Nation Army.
A little back and forth until Slater hits a Reverse Gamengiri, Trent tries to climb back to the apron after the powder, eats a Shotgun Kick. Trent dodges the dive, and Suplexes Leon down the steps at Center Stage. I feel like Slater over sold the spot, but I suppose using your surroundings is always interesting. Leon slides in at 9.5, Trent gets a little cocky and Leon hits two Flash Cradles for near falls, as Trent is reeling from the quick pinfall attempts he eats another Shotgun Kick for a near fall. Trent sells to the corner, eats a Jumping Bootwash, Leon perches Trent, goes for possibly a Spanish Fly but Trent turns it into an Avalanche Flowsion for two!
Bop and Bang, 7 Star Lariat, Piledriver with flourish and…still a two. Birminghammer attempt but Slater flips out of it, Crucifix pinfall for two, Uppercut by Trent and Birminghammer is hit! But Slater…kicks…out? He sells a Suplex where he slides down steps like death, but eats huge signature and finishing moves and kicks out. The psychology in this match is non-existent. Trent does the Finger Break, Leon sells away, hits another Shotgun Kick and Trent powders. X Plex gets reversed into a DDT from Slater. Trent powders off the Ramp, Leon goes to the entrance way runs and jumps off the ramp, then hits the Swanton 450.
Completely stupid match with spots that make no sense. All sizzle no steak, so dumb my IQ dropped 5 points.
The Elegance Clique have a “Pre-Launch Championship Celebration”. Tom Hannifan hates it, the crowd hates it, and the Personal Concierge uncovers a cardboard cut out with a Knockouts Title around their waists…and they are size accurate. Heather is like a My Size Barbie. Ash gives a very cringey speech where she thanks everyone except Heather, the Concierge passes the mic to Heather, Spitfire interrupts of course, and at least Dani cuts the promo to start so it’s tolerable. Yeah this is painfully bad cringe, as much as I didn’t mind the Ash gimmick to start with, this is lame. The only thing saving the segment is the crowd is hot for the the Elegance Clique getting their stuff ruined. So it was lame, but the crowd was into it and Ash sold the destruction of cardboard cut outs like Spitfire just murdered her puppy.
.@PCOisNotHuman and @TheSamiCallihan take on The Hardys! If they win, they’ll secure their spot in the TNA World Tag Team Title match at #TNAGenesis!

Well the first 40 minutes of this show are making me wish for a stroke instead of watching this. So hopefully it picks up somewhere.
Fir$t Cla$$ vs Maniac Marines (Eric Young & Steve Maclin)
KC flips out of two of EY’s Back Body Drops and does his “First Class” taunt, so EY just slaps him upside the head and tags in Maclin to start beating on Navarro. I do really like KC’s work. He’s like WWE Lio Rush, but likable and talented. Maclin is beating the hell out of KC though, Lariats him out, goes for the SCUD, but AJ low bridges so Maclin crashes to the outside, KC hits the Tope con Hilo with blind tag so AJ is now legal and they start working over Maclin in the corner. Tennessee Whiskey, and there does seem to be a few First Class fans in the crowd.
Navarro is back in for the 305, quick tags though to keep Maclin eating offense. Splash into Big Boot into Assisted Splash while AJ leans on Maclin literally. KC starts picking on kids in the crowd near Judd Normand, he shoves the actor, the actor shoves him back and AJ comes over to mad dog the actor. Maclin takes advantage of the distraction and drops AJ on the way back in with an Olympic Slam, tags in EY and EY comes out hot. KC tags in, EY levels KC and they start messing around in the corner, AJ tries to break it up but eats a Busaiku Knee from Maclin and then a SCUD. EY manages to throw KC off the turnbuckle and then hit the Macho Elbow for the win.
After the match Eddie, Lish and Brian Myers stand at the entrance way to send a message but not cause any real chaos.
Josh Alexander and his two bitch boys come out to cut a promo on Santana or something. I am about as interested in this as I am in Norwegian Dog Sledding. Josh trying to say Santana is too hurt to go at Genesis when we all know this was filmed the same time like a month ago. You really can’t do doofus attempts a story when you’re promoting the first live episode in nearly a decade or something for next week. At least the match should be good because this build is lame, the jabronis are useless, “Bald Ass Head” is the big insult…sheeeesh.
Laredo Kid vs Jake Something
Well…someone has to win this match, so there’s that.
Nothing special start until Jake comes off the ropes and runs over Laredo sending him flying over the ropes onto the ramp. Jake panders to the crowd, Laredo tries to get something going but Jake steps on his foot to stop any Lucha things, and mollywops him. Jake runs him corner to corner until Laredo moves, strings a few moves together, tries to fly and then gets knocked out of the sky with a Forearm. Only a two count for Jake, but Laredo is definitely doing his best impression of a pinata so far in the match. Laredo gets a desperation Satellite DDT, misses his big attempt, but Jake misses the Spear in the corner, La Magistral gets a 2, a few bad spots from Laredo where it looks like he missed a Satellite Facebuster and sloppy Essex or Canadian Destroyer. Laredo goes to the top, Jake bear paw slap, goes up top and Avalanche Something Bomb for the win.
The Hardys vs Ohio Versus Frankenstein (Sami Callihan & PCO)
Before the Hardys intro, the 23 thing flashes a few times again. So at least they didn’t forget that.
Sami starts with Jeff and gets in a few early shots and goads Jeff with Hardys taunts, then all four get in, throw hands and we go to commercial. We come back from commercial to Matt Delete Turnbuckling Sami, and then Poetry In Motion the classic way! A few quick tags, but Sami eventually knocks down Matt, tags in PCO, Matt’s moves aren’t very effective, Jeff throws himself in too and they get their asses beat by PCO. PCO tags in Sami, Sami slaps around Matt, drags his face across the ropes, tags PCO back in and uses PCO as a battering ram into Matt’s chest. PCO keeps Matt in their corner, tags back in Sami, some simple tandem work and a short 2 count for Sami. Sami calls PCO back in and they’re formulating a tag move, they try the Double Back Drop, but Matt turns it into a Double DDT instead.
Jeff tries to fight them both off, Sami grabs Jeff, PCO goes for the Lariat, malfunction at the junction, Whisper in the Wind mostly hits PCO so Jeff Splashes Sami. Twist of Hate, Twist of Fate, Swanton Bomb from Jeff and the Hardy Boys win!
Before the obligatory contract signing on the Go Home before a PPV, Jordynne walks over to the announce table with the contract for her match with Tessa. Says she’ll leave it with them so she can’t miss it, but hey, “if she doesn’t show up at Genesis it wouldn’t be the first time”. That’s funny.
Joe starts the promo saying he has to win, but its on him to take the title from Nic. There’s an intensity, so it’s not all cornball jokes and shenanigans. That’s kinda nice to start with. Nic takes the babyface angle of “you’re not wrong but I don’t think you’re ready yet kid”. Then he plays the JBL clip from Bound for Glory. Nic tries to use the video to clear his name because Ryan got attacked too. Joe is about to poke a hole in the defense but then Hollywood Abyss Mokuba shows up. “MY BROTHER SETO” Ryan interferes, Nic tries to stop the stupidity but Ryan plows through is about to eat a Standing Ovation but Nic Superkicks Joe to save Mokuba. Nic does stand there as the crowd chants “kick your brother”, but Nic doesn’t pull the trigger but you can tell he’s contemplating.
OH! Sexy Tessy shows up, signs the contract but Jordynne was waiting for her and leaves Tessa laying with a Grace Driver and solid intensity. Okay most of the show was kinda mid but the ending was pretty solid.
Overall Score: 6.25/10
As I said at the very end, most of this show was mid…or mediocre for the older crowd. Indie Spotfest Dumbassery to kick off the show, a few segments that made me question if I was tasting pennies, a decent match with First Class, the stalled push never relevant squad match between Jake and Laredo, and at least the main event match was fun.
The video packages always feel lackluster because the only people really watching TNA currently are hardcore fans. I never really see too many people pull the whole “whoa first TNA episode in 11 years and I decided on the random Go Home instead of the first live episode since 2015”. See, this is why logic matters in booking. WWE gets to have the mentality of “it could be someone’s first time watching it” every week because they the biggest show in town. The name alone will garner random views or transient lapsed fans if they get a whiff of something. However when it comes down to TNA, people are only surprised its still alive.
Even with many questionable hours it wasn’t terrible. It did fine…plus like I just said, there’s opportunity for more random eyes thanks to the WWE merger AND a live episode next week. So the Go Home format won’t change, but hopefully the exposure gives us more congruent storylines.

QT Marshall speaks.
“Next week is the 100th episode of ROH Television. Impressive, huh? And that big shot, Paul Wight, from the Board of Directors, he said, ‘QT, I need you to do me a big favor. This show has to be huge! And the way to make that happen is to have you challenging for the ROH Television title.'” QT tells Paul that we all know he owes QT an apology. And the “old QT” would’ve been pretty petty and held that against Paul. But now that QT is a viral sensation who literally has strangers from all over falling in love with him, QT said, “Y’know what, Paul? I’m gonna do it.”
So that’s right, ROH fans! Next week, episode 100, QT Marshall VS Komander, and QT walks out the NEW ROH World Television Champion! And Paul, after that, you will look QT in the eyes and apologize. QT is all smiles now, but will he be the one feeling the DOOM~ after facing the Commander of the Skies?

The Wrestler is back in action, and he’s teaming up with the ROH World TV Champion and the Youngest Men Alive! Will they all be rolling into episode 100 and beyond?
The teams sort out and Shibata starts against Grillo. The Code of Honor is upheld and the bell rings. Shibata and Grillo circle, the fans rally for Shibata, and the two tie up. They go around, Grillo wrenches, and he talks some smack. But Shibata wrenches back! Shibata puts Grillo on ropes, the ref counts the break, but Shibata CHOPS! And CHOPS again! The fans cheer as Shibata says one more time, and he CHOPS! Tag to Komander, he and Shibata double whip. Shibata drops down, Komander DROPKICKS Grillo! Grillo scrambles to tag in “Twisted Steel,” Dylan Stewart. Dylan is the shorter of the Stewart Brothers, only because Zach is 6’5″.
Dylan and Komander circle, then Dylan takes a swing. Komander dodges, scoops, but Dylan slips free to shove Komander. Komander springboards to CROSSBODY, but Dylan catches him! Dylan throws Komander but Komander lands on his feet. Komander knuckle locks, CHOPS, then goes up, up, jumps around and around, and the fans fire up for the FLYING RANA! Komander keeps going, he ducks ‘n’ dodges to roll and FACEBUSTER! Then a basement DROPKICK! Komander wrenches Dylan, winds up, and he tags in Turbo Floyd! The fans cheer, Dylan swings, but into a BIG atomic drop! Tag to Truth, the Outrunners whip and DOUBLE ATOMIC DROP! Dylan staggers while The Outrunners flex! Colby runs in, but into a DOUBLE ATOMIC DROP! The Outrunners have Colby and Dylan in opposite corners, and they storm up to rain down fists! The fans count along, and The Outrunners go to nine, wind up, and TEN! The fans fire up as The Outrunners headlock Dylan and Colby.
The Outrunners run to each other, MEETING OF THE MINDS! The fans cheer while The Outrunners spin! Truth drags Dylan up, but Dylan powers him to the corner! “Silverback” Zach tags in, and Dylan sends him in for a SPLASH! Zach roars, then he CHOKES Truth in the ropes! The ref counts, Zach backs off, then he tags in Grillo. They stomp away on Truth, the fans rally up, but Grillo tags Dylan. Dylan stomps Truth, throws some hands, then tags Colby. Dylan and Colby mug Truth, then let off as the ref reprimands. The fans boo Colby while he taunts Truth’s team. But Truth fights against the others!
Colby kicks low, headlocks Truth, then shifts to a SLEEPER! Colby leans on the hold but Truth endures. The fans rally up, Truth fights to his feet, and Truth fires body shots! Truth reaches out, but Colby keeps him from Turbo! Colby then short arm LARIATS! The fans boo but Colby soaks up the heat. Colby runs, but Truth avoids the knee drop! Colby flounders, tag to Grillo! Grillo runs but Truth dodges! Zach runs in, Truth DUMPS him out! Dylan whips but Truth reverses to TOSS him! Grillo DECKS Truth! Grillo then winds up, but Turbo blocks the sucker punch! Turbo ROCKS Grillo, and Truth BACKDROPS him!
The fans fire up as Truth crawls, hot tag to Turbo! The fans fire up more as Turbo rallies on Grillo with haymaker after haymaker! Then a scoop SLAM! Grillo staggers back up, into another scoop SLAM! Turbo looks around, Colby runs up, but into a scoop and SLAM! Dylan storms in, but into a scoop SLAM! Zach is in, he’s a big guy! Treuth helps for the SLAM! The fans fire up as Truth then feeds Grillo to Turbo’s ELBOW! Then the Outrunners wind up… “Turbo Floyd! You sonovabi*ch!” DOUBLE ELBOW DROP on Grillo! Then tag to Shibata! The fans fire up again as Shibata whips and BOOTS Grillo in the corner!
Shibata fires a flurry of forearms, he sits Grillo down, then he runs corner to corner and back again. HYDRAULIC DROPKICK! SNAP HALF HATCH! Cover, Colby breaks it! So Truth swings! Colby dodges, Turbo scoops! TOTAL RECALL for Colby! SAIDO for Grillo! Komander goes up, and he gives Grillo CIELITO LINDO! Shibata keeps The Stew Crew out, then PENALTY KICKS Grillo! Shane Taylor speaks.
“Whoever, wherever, whenever. That is the motto of Shane Taylor Promotions. Where I’m from, winning a fight had to be definitive. There was no time limit, there were no disqualifications, there was no bell, and there damn sure wasn’t a referee to come save you. A fight wasn’t over until somebody didn’t wanna fight anymore. A fight wasn’t over until somebody couldn’t fight anymore. A fight wasn’t over until somebody was either knocked out, choked out, or chalked out. It’s a new era in the professional wrestling industry: my era. It is the Era of Shane Taylor Promotions. Win a match if you can. But you damn sure won’t win the fight. Rumble, bad man, rumble.”

When I say, ‘Athletes,’ you say, ‘Rule.’ NOTHING ELSE!

My Thoughts:
A very good ROH, especially with it at about an hour and 11 minutes. Again, that’s actually less because of the ROH Rewind. A great choice to go with something from Episode 1 as we’re about to hit Episode 100 of this new “Under Tony Khan” ROH. However, they advertised an update on the “Athena World Tour,” but it wasn’t even anything new, it was just footage courtesy of Stardom. I was hoping she’d have a quick video message meant specifically for the ROH fans, or even a message Billie Starkz would be forced to read in Athena’s place per being Minion 400,237 & 3/4ths. Honestly, I hope we get a proper return from Athena next week on episode 100.
Speaking of, I blanked on how they “planned” on making QT VS Komander for tonight’s episode but good move on them kayfabing the move to episode 100. Good promo from QT to introduce that, and he’ll have a great match with Komander. Speaking of, good adjustment of putting Komander, The Outrunners & Shibata together in a match against I would think the four guys they were going to face anyway. Good showing from Grillo, Colby & “The Stew Crew,” but of course they took the loss. And also good win for Blake Christian, I hope he keeps his win streak going so he can take Komander on for the title.
Mortos VS Nese was great stuff, even The Premier Athletes insisting on the “Athletes Rock!” stuff. Great win for Mortos, but it just occurred to me that once again, Tony Khan has let La Faccion Ingobernable go ice cold. Mortos is the only one of them we see do anything, and he was losing all over the C2. I don’t even know why LFI disappeared again, other than TK is just too focused on Death Riders, Learning Tree, Rated FTR, Don Callis Family, The Hurt Syndicate, and everything else without even properly integrating everything into the “Death Riders want to wake up the AEW roster.” Why not give us some LFI VS Death Riders? Rush VS Moxley could tear it up.
Very good Proving Ground match but of course Velvet won. Risk sure talks a lot of smack, and I almost thought they were going to push this to like the two minute warning. But Velvet is going to be rolling until Leyla Hirsch comes back around and they have their rematch. And a very good 8 Man Tag with STP & LEE-J making a great combination against a rather interesting combination. 11 minutes as a main event match wasn’t much but it was rather hectic, and good win for the Heels. With Lee Johnson resisting the STP recruiting months ago, they could use this to make up for that dropped story. LEE-J joining as a way to also go for the ROH World Six Man titles could be good stuff. They might have to wait until they’re back in Texas, though, since the Von Erichs seem to stay local.
My Score: 8.5/10
