Mercedes Mone is here!

The CEO is now the Face of TBS after her win at Double or Nothing, and it’s time to celebrate! Mone goes to the ring, gets a mic, and the fans continue to chant “C E O! C E O!” Mone tells “Los Angeleeeees~! Please say hello to your CEO, and your NEW TBS Champion!” The fans cheer that. “Wasn’t I worth the wait? Didn’t I tell you money changes everything? And I did exactly that this past Sunday at Double or Nothing. You see, not only did we celebrate five years of AEW, we celebrated the in-ring return of the greatest of all time: me.” The fans chant for the “C E O! C E O!” again and she is so proud to say this past Sunday, she and Willow tore the house down!

Willow had the run of her career, and gave Mone the fight of her life. But damn, girl~! Willow is just way too nice. Mone could see a mile away that Kris & Stokely were gonna screw Willow over. But when Willow comes back, Mone wants her to come back better than ever to kick some ass! Now, back to Mone’s celebration. The fans chant for her again, and Mone says being the Face of TBS puts a target on her back. But she’s not afraid, she’s born for this! We’re just three weeks away from Forbidden Door, and she can’t wait to see- “Mercedes~!” Skye Blue calls her out from the tron. And she got Mone a little something for her celebration.

Flashback to when Mone was jumped in the dark! Now that was some of Skye’s best work. And she’s just getting started. Because here she comes from the crowd! It was all a set-up! Fireman’s carry and T K O!! Skye digs her knee into Mone’s neck while holding up the belt. Will Skye Blue take the gold from Mone in New York?

The Elite arrive.

The Young Bucks drive a truck and have Kazuchika Okada in the back, but Jack Perry drives the Scapegoat Bus. The Elite all strut in, victorious from Double or Nothing, what will they have to say about AEW’s future under their control?

Swerve Strickland w/ Prince Nana VS “Killswitch” Luchasaurus!

The Realest is still THE AEW World Champion, as he kicked Christian Cage out of Swerve’s House. However, Captain Charisma now sends his human-dinosaur henchman to destroy Swerve’s House, foundation and all! Will the Right Hand of Destruction succeed where Christian failed?

The bell rings and the two circle. The Kia Forum is “Whose House?” “SWERVE’S HOUSE!” as Swerve avoids Luchasaurus then CHOPS! Swerve still stays back, avoids Luchasaurus again and CHOPS, but Luchasaurus grabs Swerve to TOSS him to a corner! Swerve dodges Luchasaurus, ducks ‘n’ dodges, then KICKS! But Luchasaurus SHOVES Swerve up and out! The fans boo but Luchasaurus goes out, only for Swerve to KICK him in the leg! Swerve steps in to dropkick the leg! Swerve facelocks and turns Luchasaurus to a NECKBREAKER! Swerve holds on, he gator rolls with the monster, and has him along the apron!

Swerve has the fans fire up, and he drags Luchasaurus out for DRAPING NECKBREAKER to the floor! The fans cheer and Swerve stalks Luchasaurus. Luchasaurus stumbles into the desk, comes back, but Swerve ducks then RISING HEADBUTTS! Swerve shakes that off, Luchasaurus’ head is pretty solid. Swerve goes up the apron, aims and BOOTS, but Luchasaurus blocks! Luchasaurus POSTS Swerve, then ARM-DRAGS Swerve into steel steps! Luchasaurus refreshes the count, snarls as he drags Swerve up, and sends him into barriers! Luchasaurus then CHOPS Swerve against barriers, then follows him to the ring.

Luchasaurus runs up to BOOT Swerve down! The fans boo but Luchasaurus soaks it all up. Luchasaurus drags Swerve into a corner and fires off fast hands while Dynamite goes picture in picture.

Swerve sits down in the corner but Luchasaurus drags him back up. Luchasaurus CHOKES Swerve on ropes, lets off as the ref counts, but then pulls Swerve back against the ropes! The ref counts again, Luchasaurus fishhooks Swerve then lets him go. Luchasaurus sits Swerve up to CLUB him in the chest! Swerve flops to the apron, Luchasaurus drags him up again, and turns him around in the ropes so he can bend Swerve back while smothering him at the same time! The ref counts, Luchasaurus CHOPS as he lets off. Luchasaurus then stands Swerve up to BODY BLOW! Swerve flops down. Luchasaurus pushes him around, but swerve CHOPS!

Swerve fires hands on Luchasaurus but Luchasaurus just CLUBS him down! Luchasaurus drags Swerve into a wheelbarrow and GERMAN SUPLEX! Swerve flounders, Nana coaches him, but Luchasaurus storms up. Luchasaurus pushes Swerve around, clamps onto him with both hands and has a neck wrench! Swerve endures, fights up, but Swerve CLUBS him down! Luchasaurus pushes on the neck wrench, Swerve endures again, and Nana coaches him while rallying the fans. Swerve endures as Luchasaurus digs his claw into a shoulder! Swerve pushes up, Dynamite returns to single picture, and the fans rally.

Swerve fights to his feet but Luchasaurus UPPERCUTS! Luchasaurus choke grips, but Swerve drops into a TRIANGLE HOLD! Luchasaurus stays on his feet, but Swerve BOOTS him! Swerve somersaults and COMPLETE SHOTS! The fans fire up, Luchasaurus goes to a corner but Swerve runs in to UPPERCUT! Swerve fires UPPERCUT after UPPERCUT, then wrenches to KICK a leg. Swerve goes up to FALLING UPPERCUT! Luchasaurus is down and Swerve hits the Griddy! The fans fire up, Swerve gator rolls and suplexes, but Luchasaurus blocks! Luchasaurus suplexes, but Swerve fights and turns it around, BRAINBUSTER! Cover, TWO!

Nana coaches Swerve, he aims at Luchasaurus, and he half nelsons. Luchasaurus fights that and ELBOWS Swerve away! Swerve CLUBS Luchasaurus in return! Swerve waistlocks, Luchasaurus puts him in a corner, then he blocks a haymaker! Swerve ROCKS Luchasaurus on the second try, BOOTS him, then somersaults, into a HEADBUTT! Choke grip! CHOKE SLAM! Cover, TWO!! Swerve survives and Luchasaurus snarls again. Luchasaurus drags Swerve to the apron, and he goes out to get a chair! He’s not worried about winning, he wants to hurt Swerve! But Nana snatches the chair! So Luchasaurus PUNCHES it away!

But Swerve BOOTS Luchasaurus! And BOOTS again! And BOOTS again! Swerve fires up, and he FLYING STOMPS Luchasaurus to the floor! The fans are thunderous, Swerve puts Luchasaurus in a corner, and he climbs up. Luchasaurus sits up like a Phenom, but Swerve leaps over him! Swerve feints a kick to kick out a leg! BUZZSAW! “Whose House?!” HOUSE- NO, no House Call! Only CHOKE SLAM! STANDING MOONSAULT! Cover, TWO!! Swerve survives again and Luchasaurus is losing his mind! Luchasaurus vows to end this, and he drags Swerve up. BLINDSIDE- NO, Swerve ducks! Waistlock and GERMAN SUPLEX!

Luchasaurus sits up, into the HOUSE CALL!! Swerve isn’t done there, he goes up a corner and the fans are thunderous! Luchasaurus sits up again, into the KILL STOMPS!! Cover, TWO?!?! HOW!??! Swerve doesn’t ask questions, he just HOUSE CALLS again!! Cover, Swerve wins!

Winner: Swerve Strickland, by pinfall

It took more to take down the monster than most, but Nana presents scissors! Swerve smiles, and he has Luchasaurus’ hair now! Swerve cuts a lock of the dinosaur’s mane as retribution! Swerve has cleared out The Patriarchy, and all eyes will be on tonight’s Casino Gauntlet match! Who makes it out of that wild scramble to knock on the Forbidden Door to Swerve’s House?

Tony Schiavone speaks from commentary.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we are back live on Dynamite here in Los Angeles and the Kia Forum. What you saw at the beginning of the program with Skye Blue attacking Mercedes Mone has not gone unnoticed. Tony Khan has made this special announcement for the program tonight. Mercedes Mone will have her first title defense for the TBS title right here tonight, right here in the Kia Forum, and she will defend against Skye Blue! And that’s coming up tonight, here live!” A big money move from TK, but will Mone be ready to put it all on the line so soon after going Double or Nothing?

Jon Moxley speaks.

“Rocky Romero wants a spot at Forbidden Door, big international showcase, who doesn’t? Rocky’s not stupid, he thinks this is how he’s gonna get it. Azucar, one the most dangerous men in the game, one of the most experience guys in the game, can beat anybody in the world on any given night. His little smart idea for me to take this eliminator match tonight, I’m a one-armed man, I’m far from 100%. But no, it’s not a smart idea, it’s a very, very dumb idea. It’s a very bad idea. But when am I ever 100%? That’s what champions do. They show up, they get in the ring, and they bust their ass.

“I’m not pissing away at Disneyland today, it’s the Kia Forum, it’s Dynamite, it’s live. I’ll be at Osaka-Jo Hall for Dominion after that. And I’ll be at Bloodsport in Ryogoku Hall after that. I’ll be at Forbidden Door in New York after that. And it’ll be the same as it’s always been since the beginning. Five years now, I’ll be the man that stands atop NJPW and AEW, and anywhere the hell else I wanna go.” The Maniac is more than ready, will he make Azucar taste the bitterness of defeat?

“Big” Bill Morrissey is in the ring.

The rather goofy talk show set is ready as “The Redwood” welcomes us to the debut episode of TV Time with The Learning Tree, Chris Jericho! And speaking of, here comes Jericho! The “For The World” Champion of 39 days waves and smiles to the fans as he joins Bill in the ring. Jericho then gets a mic to ask, “Who wants more TV Time? You know I do!” And Bill got cut off before he could do the whole introduction! Tell them what more there was to say! Bill says yes, he will do that. “If there’s one thing that Chris has always taught me, it’s that even though the leaves may come down in the Fall, they always grow back in the Spring stronger and brighter than ever.”

Bill is pretty sure that applies here. Jericho believes so. Jericho thanks Bill for those inspiring words, and he thanks all the fans for making the new Learning Tree University shirt the number one shirt on Shop AEW! Thanks so much! Good job! Who wants a free one? The fans don’t mind that, but then Jericho just puts the shirt on a corner. Jericho thanks all the “branches” who have sat under his Learning Tree and helped make him number one. Thank you for that. And also thank you for supporting him as the longest-reigning For The World Champion at 39 days. He was able to retain at Double or Nothing, but Hook and Shibata are really tough.

They dumped him on his head and boy does it smart. Jericho laughs it off, and says if adversity is ice cream, always put a cherry on top. What? Jericho wants us to remember: Many are called, only few answer. Many reach out, only a few are chosen. And many talk the talk of wanting to sit under the Learning Tree, but very few walk the walk. Jericho will bring out a man who walked right under the shade of the Learning Tree this past Sunday. Welcome to TV Time, the Bounty Hunter, Bryan Keith! The fans boo as Keith makes his way out to the ring to join Jericho & Bill. Jericho shakes Bryan’ s hand and wants fans to give him a round of applause.

Now, what made Bryan Keith want to be sucked into the Jericho Vortex and become a disciple of the Learning Tree? Keith tells Jericho that he noticed a lack of respect for Jericho here in AEW. EIGHT-TIME World Champion, 30 YEARS world traveled, and the longest-reigning FTW Champion in history! Keith says honestly, he can’t believe more people didn’t jump at this opportunity! The fans chant to STFU but Keith says this is what he means! Jericho says watch your language, this is a family show. But Keith says that is the lack of respect right there! They’re lucky to breathe the same air as Jericho! Show respect! Show respect! Those kids, you show respect!

Jericho calms Bryan down, this isn’t a yelling moment, this is a teaching moment. Bryan calms down and Jericho says the lesson is, if you want something to happen, you got out and grab it! That’s what Bryan did, Jericho respects that he’s a bad, bad man. Maybe even a bad apple! Jericho likes that! The Bad Apple doesn’t fall far from the Learning Tree! Keith is now welcome to stay in the vortex and grow under the Learning Tree as long as he wants. But wait! Here comes HOOK! The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil is in no mood, and he THROWS security around! Then here comes Samoa Joe?! Joe gets in Hook’s way!?

The fans fire up for “JOE! JOE! JOE!” as he stares Hook down. But then Joe whispers something, and he moves aside! Hook snarls at The Learning Tree and friends, and then follows Joe outta here? Hook didn’t listen before, but what is it that has him following Joe’s lead now? Jericho waves bye, then thanks the fans for tonight.

AEW takes a look at Stephanie Vaquer.

La Primera is CMLL Women’s World Champion, CMLL Women’s Tag Team Champion, and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, but she is looking to go after the gold in AEW! The Forbidden Door is opening, who will Vaquer look to vanquish first?

IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Title Eliminator: Jon Moxley VS Rocky Romero!

The Maniac admitted he is far from 100%, but also made sure we understood that doesn’t matter. Will Moxley be able to win with one good arm as he also has The King of Darkness waiting for him in 11 days? Or is Azucar going to kick the Forbidden Door wide open?

The bell rings and Rocky DROPKICKS Moxley right out! Then he DIVES! Down goes Moxley and the fans fire up with Rocky! Rocky gives some Latino Heat, then he UPPERCUTS Moxley! The ring count starts, but Rocky SLAMS the bad arm off the desk! Rocky follows Moxley around the way, whips, but Moxley reverses to put Rocky in the ring. Moxley slides in but Rocky kicks the arm! And KICKS! And KICKS! And KICKS again! Rocky gets Moxley up but Moxley X PLEXES first! Rocky flounders, but Moxley clamps on to ELBOW, KICK, and repeat! Moxley then just HAMMERS away with elbows before one more KICK!

The fans rally while Rocky writhes, and Moxley drags him up. Moxley puts Rocky in a corner, CHOPS, then hoists him up top. Moxley CHOPS again, climbs up, but Rocky wrenches the bad arm! The fans rally, Rocky SNAPS the fingers! Moxley steps back, Rocky DOUBLE STOMPS the bad arm! Rocky WRINGS the bad arm out, then he runs up to SHOTGUN Moxley down! Moxley goes to the apron, the fans duel, and Rocky storms up. Moxley grabs Rocky in a SLEEPER! But Rocky pulls the bad arm! HOTSHOT! Rocky gets up to KICK Moxley in the ropes, then goes up the corner, to GUILLOTINE MISSILE DROPKICK!

Moxley flops down, Rocky goes to the apron and grabs the arm. HOTSHOT! Moxley grits his teeth, the ref reprimands, but Rocky grabs at the bad arm again. Rocky pulls Moxley into the ropes while Dynamite goes picture in picture!

The ref reprimands and counts, Rocky lets go at 4, and Moxley flounders away. Rocky runs up, but Moxley CHOPS! Moxley eggs Rocky on, Rocky CHOPS! Moxley fires a forearm, Rocky KICKS the arm! Rocky wrenches to an ELBOW BREAKER! Then he hammerlocks and RAMS Moxley into buckles! Moxley flops to the apron again, Rocky fires up with a soccer knee slide, then he goes after Moxley on the outside. Moxley kicks Rocky, then crotches him on the railing! Moxley goes to the crowd so he can CLOBBER Rocky back to ringside! Moxley storms after Rocky, whips him, but Rocky reverses and sends Moxley into steel steps!

Rocky stomps Moxley, puts him in the ring, then covers, TWO! Rocky is frustrated but the count is the count. Rocky KNEES Moxley in the back! Rocky drags Moxley up to CHOP! Moxley CHOPS back! Rocky CHOPS again! Rocky eggs Moxley on, Moxley CHOPS! Rocky KICKS the leg, hammerlocks it, and adds a SLEEPER! Moxley endures, reaches out, fights up and he fireman’s carries Rocky to a corner! Dynamite returns to single picture as Moxley CHOPS again! Moxley goes up to fire off forearms, but Rocky CLAWS Moxley’s face! So Moxley BITES Rocky’s face! The ref reprimands but the fans fire up as Moxley reels Rocky in!

Moxley brings Rocky up, SUPERPLEX! Both men are down but the fans fire up! Rocky rolls away to the far side and the fans rally. Moxley rises, runs in, and clotheslines in the corner! Moxley goes up and he fires down fists! Moxley goes past ten, stops at 15, then runs. Rocky dodges, KICKS, but Moxley ROCKS Rocky! Rocky KICKS again! Moxley ROCKS Rocky! Rocky fires up, the fans are torn, and Rocky KICKS! KICKS! And UPPERCUTS! Moxley CUTTERS!! Outta nowhere like a viper, and the fans rally up. Moxley rams his bad arm into the mat to get it feeling right. Rocky is in a corner, Moxley runs up, but into an UPPERCUT!

Rocky goes up, TORNADO DDT! Cover, TWO! But into the ARMBAR!! Moxley clasps hands to fight it off but Rocky stomps Moxley’s head! Moxley still holds on, rolls and gets around to facelock. Moxley fires knee after knee into Rocky’s head, then clamps on the BULLY CHOKE!! Rocky sputters but he’s turning red! Moxley’s bad arm can’t hold, so Rocky slips out! Rocky hammerlocks the good arm to pull on the bad arm! DARK SACRIFICE! Moxley writhes and hobbles to a corner. Rocky runs up but Moxley ELBOWS him! Moxley BOOTS Rocky, goes up, but Rocky UPPERCUTS! Rocky goes up after Moxley, for a SUPER FLYING ARMBAR!!

Moxley flails, reaches out, kicks around, but Rocky pulls on the arm! Moxley fights to turn Rocky, stands up, and he stomps at Rocky’s face! Rocky lets go, but he kicks Moxley’s leg! Rocky ENZIGIRIS from below! Moxley staggers, Rocky storms up on him, but Moxley LARIATS! Moxley storms back up on Rocky, but Rocky goes after the arm! Moxley whips free and DISCUS LARIATS through! Moxley gets Rocky up, underhooks, DEATH RIDER!! Cover, Moxley wins!

Winner: Jon Moxley, by pinfall (denies Rocky Romero a title opportunity)

A rough ride for Rocky tonight, but Moxley moves on towards his next challenge! Will Moxley arrive in Osaka-Jo Hall only to find Everything is Evil?

Backstage interview with Samoa Joe & Hook.

Renee Paquette stands by as the two talk. She asks them what that was out there. Joe says tonight, they learned their first lesson: We do not exist on their time. No, truly dangerous men exist on their own time. Joe & Hook head out together again, will Joe’s mentoring be what helps Hook reach that next level?

Don Callis is here!

The fans boo as Callis goes to the ring to say, “I have something important to tell you.” The fans boo more, but he points out that what he has in his hand is more valuable than gold or diamonds. This is a contract to work with The Don Callis Family. The fans keep booing, but Callis keeps going. “It’s been one of the great pleasures of my life to be able to scout a talent like Orange Cassidy! In fact, when I see Orange, I see myself.” But speaking of, here comes Cassidy! Freshly Squeezed brought back Jane, the white T, and the aviators, he’s in a good mood apparently after beating Trent Beretta at Double or Nothing.

Cassidy joins Callis in the ring and Callis says this is the moment the world has been waiting for! Callis feels he should do it like Cassidy, a hand in pocket. Well, Orange is truly an iconic performer in this industry. Cassidy is truly a star wherever he goes. Cassidy has made some bad choices, but now Callis will work with him. So without further ado, Callis welcomes Cassidy to the Family with this contract. The fans say “NO! NO! NO!” but Callis says he’s filled it all out, all Cassidy has to do is sign. But then Cassidy slowly rips the contract up! Callis is in disbelief! The fans cheer Cassidy on and he get a mic. “Hey, uh, Don. No.”

Callis tells Cassidy, “Who do you thin you’re talking to? No one says no to me, Orange! I tell YOU what you’re gonna do!” Cassidy takes off his sunglasses, but then Stokely Hathaway makes his way out here! As AEW’s Number One Hater, Stokely does not like Cassidy. Not the way he walks, not the way he talks. There is not a single thing Stokely likes! In fact, O M G, Cassidy is just like Willow Nightingale! The only reason Stokely’s here is because of Kris. Kris says on behalf of her best friend, she is so happy to announce that he accepts Callis’ invitation to the Don Callis Family. Wait, who does she mean?

TRENT IS IN THE RING!! He runs up to CLOBBER Cassidy! And he rains down fists on Cassidy! The fans boo, Stokely & Kris smile as they take their leave. The fans tell Trent off but Trent keeps on throwing down hands! Trent says he HATES Cassidy, and he’s punched Cassidy open! Callis gets Trent to stop, but also wants Trent to take it easy. Trent opens his arms to Callis, and they HUG!! Trent and Callis have made their alliance official with a hug and the blood of Freshly Squeezed. And they both stomp away on Cassidy! Now it won’t be #JustTrent, it’ll be Trent and the Don Callis Family! What does Cassidy have left to lose?

BREAKING NEWS for Collision!

Will Ospreay may be the NEW AEW International Champion, but he already puts his belt on the line against Kyle O’Reilly! Will the Aerial Assassin already have a notch on his belt after Saturday? Or will #CombatKyle make Ospreay’s reign one of the shortest in history?

Backstage interview with Daniel Garcia & Matthew Menard.

Renee is with the Dragonslayer and Daddy Magic, and says Garcia asked for this time. Is there something he wants to get off his chest? Garcia says he was looking over his shoulder a bit. This place is full of bloodthirsty killers now and he loves it. Sometimes, he feels like one of those guys, but sometimes he feels stuck in his own head, stuck in the same place as he was before. He feels like he’s trudging through mud while others have so much confidence. Why wouldn’t they? They get the red carpet rolled out for them, getting whatever they want. Garcia feels like it is time for him to drag them all across that red carpet as he goes straight for that International Championship.

Renee brings up that Ospreay is the new International Champion, and Garcia says he doesn’t care. He tells the champ that he will climb up the ranks, take that title, and then make Ospreay’s bags a little bit lighter for those flights home to London. Respectfully. The Red Death has spoken, will he be going right after the #BillyGOAT after Saturday?

AEW TBS Championship: Mercedes Mone VS Skye Blue!

The CEO wasn’t planning on going from celebrating to fighting, but she isn’t going to complain. Will she just make sure Skye pays for attacking her out of nowhere again? Or will Skye go from blue to gold in the City of Angels?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see how much Mone has left in the tank!

The bell rings, Skye rushes in, but Mone hits first! Mone bumps Skye off buckles, off more buckles, then off a third corner’s buckles! Mone fires off forearms again and again, then whips corner to corner. Skye reverses, runs up, but Mone slips out and KNEES from the apron! Mone goes up and up and FLYING ARM-DRAGS! Skye tumbles and staggers up, Mone DROPKICKS her down! Cover, ONE!! Mone is upset by this, she brings Skye up, but Skye swings on her! Mone ducks it but Skye puts her in ropes. Mone RAMS Skye, tilt-o-whirls and RANAS! Skye tumbles out, the fans fire up, and Mone waits on Skye.

Skye goes around the way, catches her breath, but Mone runs to WRECK her with a dropkick! Mone goes to the apron and METEORAS to the floor! Mone smiles and she drags Skye back up. Mone puts Skye in, covers, TWO! Mone is annoyed but she paces around Skye. The fans rally for the CEO as she brings Skye up, suplexes, but Skye counters to a cradle, TWO! Skye swings again, Mone gets under and waistlocks to go back to the apron. Skye BOOTS Mone this time! Mone is stuck, Skye brings her out along ropes, for a DRAPING NECKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Mone survives and Dynamite goes picture in picture.

Skye rains down fists on Mone, lets off to mock Mone’s swagger, and then has Mone on ropes. Skye CHOKES Mone, the ref counts, and Skye lets off at 4. Mone goes to a corner, Skye stomps a mudhole in, then lets off as the ref counts. Skye drags Mone up to bump her off buckles, then mocks the fans. Skye bumps Mone but Mone bumps Skye back! Mone takes a swing but Skye dodges to fire off on Mone! Skye digs her boot into Mone’s neck, blows a kiss, then lets off as the ref counts. Skye storms back up, brings Mone up, but Mone fires off body shots. Skye CLUBS Mone down, then clamps on with a SLEEPER!

Mone endures, reaches out, and the fans rally. Mone fights to her feet but Skye becomes a backpack! Mone RAMS Skye into buckles! And again! And then she snapmares free, to basement dropkick! Mone drags Skye back up, but Skye ENZIGIRIS! Mone falls over, Skye huffs and puffs and covers, TWO! Skye is frustrated so she covers again, TWO! Skye drags Mone around into a chinlock and Dynamite returns to single picture. The fans rally, Mone fights up, and she JAWBREAKERS free! Skye runs up but Mone ELBOWS her! And BOOTS her! And then goes up to DEADLY NIGHTSHADE! And then SUNSET BOMB! METEORA! Cover, TWO!

Mone storms after Skye to BACKSTABBER! Cover, TWO! Skye is showing toughness but Mone drags her to a drop zone. Mone climbs, the fans rally, but Skye CLUBS Mone! Skye tucks Mone in, CHEEKY NANDOS! And then the POWER- RANA! Mone turns things around on Skye! Skye staggers up into a corner, Mone runs up, but Skye catches her to a full nelson! SKYE FALL!! Cover, TWO!! Mone survives and Skye is furious! The fans rally, Skye drags Mone up, and she fireman’s carries, only for Mone to slip free! Mone shoves Skye, dodges her and then swings, but Skye dodges! Mone blocks a kick to KNEE! Skye SUPERKICKS!

Skye runs, hops on, but no Code Blue! Gory Especial, MONE MAKER! Cover, Mone wins!

Winner: Mercedes Mone, by pinfall (still AEW TBS Champion)

Skye tried but she couldn’t tear down The CEO! Mone celebrates again, but wait! Stephanie Vaquer is HERE! We knew she’d be stepping through the Forbidden Door, and she’s already calling out the Face of TBS! Vaquer holds up her NJPW Strong Women’s Championship but Mone holds up her TBS Championship, who walks away the top champion in New York City?

Renee waits outside the medical room.

She is waiting for an update on Orange Cassidy, but Stokely & Kris walk over and excuse her. Renee moves aside and Stokely takes the mic. Stokely tells Willow that she never ceases to amaze him, and he doesn’t mean that in a good way. Imagine being damn near 30 and thinking Disneyworld is a magical place, and that so is real life. Willow, this started weeks ago, months even. The catalyst was March 27th, live on Dynamite. Fatal 4 Way #1 Contender’s match, and Willow was in that match with her best friend, Kris. Kris said she wanted to become champion again, but Willow didn’t listen. But who did listen? Stokely listened. He’ll always listen to Kris, he’ll always be a shoulder to cry on.

Kris is a former TBS Champion, the best in the world, returned from back-to-back ACL injuries, and truth be told, most of these b*tches back here get so much as a sinus infection, and they want to stay home from work. Now before anyone gets mad, he wasn’t even talking about the Women’s Division! Ladies and gentlemen, the new and improved Kris Statlander! Kris thanks Stokely and takes the mic. Kris says that when she finally does something for herself, she gets booed for it! This is why she had to make the change she did.

They don’t care about Kris & Stokely, they all just want Kris to help everyone else be okay, or to pick up everyone else when they’re down, or to be the bodyguard for all these spineless, selfish people who don’t bat an eye when things go wrong, cuz “Ol’ Statlander” will show up. Kris doesn’t blame them, though. She is #MoreThanAWoman, and she is DONE being the protector. Now you’re all gonna need protection from her! Stokely smiles, even as she shoves the mic back at him. Is this Kris going to take over the world?

The Young Bucks head to the ring!

Los Angeles boos The EVPs as they rise from the Elite-evator and walk down the ramp. And then Matthew flips the coin, and here comes The Rainmaker! And then here comes Jack Perry! The full Elite goes to the ring together, still being booed. Matt makes sure the Reebok Pumps are pumped up now, but the fans chant “C M PUNK! C M PUNK!” Okada tells them all, “Shut up, b*tches!” The fans do cheer for Okada, he’s the one member of The Elite they like. But then Jack talks and says, “First thing’s first, let’s get one thing straight. The Elite run this s*it! Tony Khan & Kenny Omega handpicked their dream team, and these guys pulled out all the stops. They even set me on fire!”

But not only did The Elite still win, but Jack’s first match back in AEW in nine MONTHS, he took his piece of the American Dragon when he pinned one of the greatest wrestlers to ever live. Nicholas says what a fantastic week it has been for The Elite. On Monday, they released the special edition Reebok Pumps, and it became the hottest selling shoe in years! That performance on Sunday by Jack and Okada was unbelievable! So The Bucks are here bearing gifts! Small gifts, but still. They got Okada a brand new Lamborghini! Okada is so excited! Is this real? Is this a dream? Nick starts a “You Deserve It!” chant and the fans join in as Okada is emotional.

Okada then gets serious and lets Matt have the mic. Matt says to business! At Double or Nothing, during the TNT Championship’s Barbed Wire Steel Cage match, Adam Copeland was badly injured. The fans boo but Matt says that is more on him. Right before that match, Matt was there and he wished Adam good luck and said, “Break a leg.” Haha. Matt jinxed Adam, sorry about that. But The Bucks are praying for Edge, he’ll come back stronger, this just sucks. However as EVPs, they must make the tough decisions. So Adam Copeland… Tonight, you are hereby stripped of the TNT Championship. The fans boo!

Bugt hey, the network is on their case for a NEW TNT Champion, and well, The Bucks know just the guy! After the BIGGEST pinfall victory of his entire career during Anarchy in the Arena, ladies and gentlemen, may they present the NEW TNT Champion, The Scapegoat, Jack Perry!! But wait, Christopher Daniels storms out here! The Fallen Angel says the last time they spoke, the Bucks mentioned a severance package for him. He wanted to let them know that he doesn’t need it anymore, because he’s got a brand new job. Tony Khan named Daniels the INTERIM EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT! So that means, when Daniels says something, it might as well come from TK himself!

Matt tells CD to tread lightly! But he tells “young man” Matthew not to disrespect him! Call him by his God-given name, Christopher! The fans cheer as Daniels is giving The Bucks a taste of their own medicine! Now, as far as the TNT Championship goes, they aren’t just giving it away. This is AEW, where the best wrestle! If Jack wants to be a champion, he’s gotta earn it! And don’t worry, he’ll get an opportunity to do just that. Because in the next few weeks, we will have qualifying matches! No managers or seconds allowed ringside, no outside interference! The winners of these matches go on to Forbidden Door to wrestle for the vacant TNT Championship, IN A LADDER MATCH!

The fans love that idea! And the first qualifier is happening on Friday Night Rampage, in the best town he’s ever been in, right here in LOS ANGELES! Matt says he’s fine to see Christopher back. The Elite will all go “show” him just how happy they are! But then THE ACCLAIMED hurry out here! Max Caster, Anthony Bowens & Billy Gunn are backing up The Fallen Angel against The Elite, now we’ve got even numbers! The Bucks have their boys back up. Will Platinum Max & The Five Tool Player look to go after those tag titles? Who else will be in this Face of TNT Ladder Match series?

Swerve Strickland & Prince Nana talk backstage.

They stand in front of the Wall of Fame, and Nana tells Boss Swerve that he might as well be Stevie Wonder, because there is nobody that can see Swerve in that ring! Swerve says coming off Double or Nothing, he got to take down another legend in Christian Cage. Swerve applauds Christian’s efforts, and says he needed that. Now, like a diss track, he got the lick back and gave Killswitch the Killshot, and he returned the favor. Now he’s got his own little trophy. Yuo wanna take his title? He takes your hair.

But moving to tonight’s main event, he is very curious to see who his next challenger will be. Whenever, wherever, whoever, Swerve can see some great surprises lined up for the Casino Gauntlet. Former champions, current champions, future champions, but who is gonna step to whose house? Swerve’s House, and get stomped out. He’ll be watching. Swerve laughs his way out, but who has the last laugh in this free-for-all?

Rush speaks.

“MJF. Congratulations on your return to AEW. But you’re not the star here! I AM! Just remember: if you mess with The Bull, you get the horns!” El Toro Blanco has called out the Salt of the Earth, will MJF just have to show Rush he really IS better than him, and he knows it?

BREAKING NEWS for Rampage!

One: it will once again be at the special start time of 6:30 PM Eastern! Two: We have Satnam Singh in action, the beginnings of the Face of TNT Ladder Match series, and an AEW Women’s World Championship Title Eliminator as Toni Storm takes on Viva Van! Will the Hellbent Vixen be able to weather the Storm and get her own title opportunity?

AEW World Championship #1 Contender’s Casino Gauntlet!

The first instance of the Casino Gauntlet for AEW’s Homecoming was a wild one, and named a contender to the International Championship. Ospreay won that and then won the gold, but will the same happen this time?

First out, representing the Bang Bang Gang, it’s Switchblade Jay White! But meeting him is… THE BASTARD! Pac couldn’t take the Trios titles, but can he take away this opportunity from White? The bell rings and Pac BOOTS White right down! Pac stomps away on White in a corner, digs his boots in, then lets off. Pac brings White around, bumps him off buckles, then bumps him off more buckles! White flounders but Pac gets him up. Pac uses White’s own robe to CHOKE him! Pac doesn’t have to let off, either, as there are no disqualifications in this one! Pac TOSSES White out, then goes out after him.

Fans fire up as Pac sends White into barriers! White falls back, Pac drags him up and whips him into more barriers! White slumps down, Pac brings him around again. Pac glares through the camera, and he SMACKS White off apron! White sits down, Pac stands him up and SMACKS him off it again! White sputters, but Pac stands him up to SMACK him off apron yet again! The fans cheer but White CHOPS! White gets away, Pac snarls, that handprint is back already. Pac RAMS into White, slingshots up and over and keeps moving, and he RANAS White! White tumbles out, Pac builds speed, and Pac FLIES! Down goes White and the fans fire up again!

Pac drags White up, puts him in, then hurries back up. Pac aims from the top rope, White stands, and the MISSILE DROPKICK hits! Cover, TWO! White stays in this but Pac stalks him to the apron. But White HOTSHOTS Pac down! Pac flounders, and it’s time for another to enter! It’s MISTICO! CMLL’s greatest champion is here, and he runs right in to GAMANGIRI White! Springboard but White gets under! Mistico keeps moving, and he RANAS White! Pac kicks Mistico, whips, but Mistico ducks ‘n ‘dodges, and handsprings! Pac avoids all that, but Mistico blocks a chop to knuckle lock, CHPO, and FLYING ARM-DRAG!

Pac gets up, Mistico SUPERKICKS him down! White returns, Mistico DROPKICKS him back out! Pac and White go outside, they brawl, so Mistico goes up and up and SUPER CROSSBODIES! Direct hit on both men and the fans are thunderous as AEW goes picture in picture.

Mistico keeps the fans fired up and he drags White up to put him in. Mistico storms up after White but White sends him into buckles! White then goes after the mask! The ref reprimands but that’s all he can do. White stomps Mistico, soaks up heat, and he goes out to send Pac into steel steps and then barriers! White goes back in for Mistico to wrench and kick. White kicks and kicks and throws Mistico by his mask! Pac gets in to get White by his hair! Pac smacks White off buckles, then TOSSES him out! Pac goes out after White but White RAMS him into barriers! They both sputter, White gest in the ring but Mistico is right on him!

Mistico SOBATS! Front kicks! And then SUPERKICKS! White falls over, Mistico covers, TWO! Mistico stays cool, fires the fans up, but White CLAWS at his face! The ref reprimands, White goes after the mask again! White throws down elbows but then Pac returns. Pac drags White from Mistico, bumps him off buckles, then wrenches to whip corner to corner, and hard! White falls over in a heap, Pac storms over to him, but White flops out of the ring. Pac goes out and stomps White down, and the fans rally up. Pac looms over White, stands on his head, and Dynamite returns to single picture.

It’s time for the fourth man, and it’s… WILL OSPREAY!? The International Champion wants to win another Casino Gauntlet and go for the whole enchilada?! Ospreay runs up, fires off on Mistico, then hits a PIP PIP CHEERIO! White sneaks up to SLEEPER, but Ospreay snapmares free! White and Ospreay stand off and the fans are thunderous! White offers a handshake, but Ospreay leaves him hanging! Ospreay fires off forearms and a whip! White slides out, but Pac is there to put him back in! Ospreay CHOPS White! Ospreay whips, White reverses, but Ospreay handsprings to NEURALIZER KICK!

White bails out, Pac hurries in, he O’Conner Rolls with bridge! TWO!! Ospreay escapes and tells Pac he’s a cheeky bastard! The Englishmen have it out with words, but Mistico springboards to DOUBLE CROSSBODY! Down go Ospreay and Pac, then Mistico SUPERKICKS Pac! Mistico ducks ‘n ‘dodges Ospreay to tilt-o-whirl to go around and around and around, into LA MYSTICA! FUJIWARA ARMBAR!! But the fifth man is already being sent out, and it’s SHOTA UMINO! The Roughneck of NJPW is here and the fans fire up as he stomps Mistico! The fans fire up for “SHOOTER! SHOOTER!” but Mistico CHOPS him!

Shota just scowls as he DECKS Mistico! Then Shota sends Mistico into White! Those two fall out of the ring, Shota aims at Ospreay! Shota runs up to UPPERCUT Ospreay! And then FISHERMAN- NO, Ospreay fights free! Ospreay wrenches, Shota UPPERCUTS! Shota runs, into the TIGER WALL KICK! But Shota ducks the enzigiri! Ospreay slides under Shota, Shota elbows free of the waistlock! Shota ducks the Hook Kick, then fires a forearm! ROLLING- ROUNDHOUSE! Ospreay whips Shota, Shota reverses and DROPKICKS Ospreay! The fans are thunderous for Shota as he then slingshots to APRON DDT Ospreay!!

Shota hurries to get Ospreay in, TORNADO DDT! Cover, White breaks it! White CHOPS Shota, sits him up, CHOPS again, repeat! White then goes to Ospreay to sit him up and CHOP! Ospreay flounders, White goes back to Shota for another CHOP! But now we get the sixth man, CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI! The Swiss Superman is already hard to face 1v1 and fresh, and now he’s got his pick of the litter! White shoves Shota at him but Claudio just BOOTS Shota down! White runs away but Claudio pursues! They go around the ring, Claudio UPPERCUTS Pac for good measure! Then White drags Mistico out of the ring to block Claudio’s path!

Claudio DOUBLE STOMPS Mistico, then continues after White! White slides in the ring, slides under Ospreay, and Claudio LARIATS Ospreay! Shota rolls Claudio up, TWO! Shota knees low, runs, but Claudio POP-UP UPPERCUTS! Cover, White breaks it! White CLUBS away on Claudio, stomps him, then says guns up! Ospreay and Mistico brawl on the outside, White goes to Claudio. But Claudio SPINEBUSTERS, and he has the legs! The fans are thunderous for the SWING~! White goes around and around and around, the fans count all the way to TEN while Dynamite goes picture in picture!

Claudio THROWS White away, but Mistico RAMS into Claudio! Mistico slingshots to sunset flip, but Claudio rolls through to get legs! Claudio shrugs, and he SWINGS Mistico! Mistico goes around and around for TEN, but then Ospreay gets in! Claudio trips Ospreay, Ospreay kicks and flails, but the SWING still starts up! Claudio goes around and around with Ospreay for TEN, and now Claudio is feeling it. Shota CLUBS away on Claudio, then eggs him on! Claudio frowns, and UPPERCUTS Shota! Shota UPPERCUTS back! They UPPERCUT back and forth, then Shota gets the edge! Shota winds up to UPPERCUT!

Shota underhooks, but Claudio trips him up! And yes, he SWINGS Shota! Another TEN, and now Claudio is dizzy. Pac is there to ROCK him! Pac springboards in, but Claudio catches him! AND SWINGS HIM!! Claudio reaches TEN, drops Pac, and he needs the ref to steady him. The ref walks over, but Claudio trips him! Is Claudio really gonna do it!? No, Claudio realizes that wouldn’t be nice, so he spares the ref from a swing. Claudio helps the ref to his feet and Dynamite returns to single picture. And just in time for lucky number seven! It’s… LIO RUSH! The Bad Child makes his return to AEW as an NJPW talent, but will he again be the Man of the Hour?

Lio and Claudio circle, then Lio runs up! Claudio blocks, he flips Lio but Lio lands on his feet! Lio dodges, redirects, redirects again, duck sunder, goes Matrix, then kicks, ENZIGIRIS and fires up! The fans are with Lio as he baits Claudio and DUMPS him out! HANDSPRING KICK knocks Claudio down! Shota dragon sleepers Lio, but Lio slips out of the suplex! Roll-up, kip up, wind up, BASEMENT ENZIGIRI! The fans fire up and Lio runs, but Shota ROCKS him! Shota runs, but Lio gets moving again! Shota shows speed, too, they both duck ‘n’ dodge, then they DOUBLE LARIAT! But they both roar! Claudio DOUBLE LARIATS them both!!

The fans are thunderous and Claudio says it’s time! But wow, the eighth is already here and… it’s ORANGE CASSIDY? Freshly Squeezed must’ve planned on being in this match all along, and he’s still going to even with the head wound from Trent! Cassidy storms down and puts on his elbow pad. Claudio runs up but Cassidy gets around, ducks ‘n’ dodges, then tilt-o-whirls to DD- NO! Claudio blocks the DDT to suplex! But Claudio fires knees! Claudio won’t let Cassidy go, though, and he powers back up! Into STUN DOG MILLIONAIRE! Cassidy runs and tilt-o-whirls again, DDT! Cassidy kips up but has to steady himself after.

Ospreay aims and takes off the elbow pad! Cassidy turns around first, though. He takes HIS elbow pad off! Both men are primed and ready, but then White sneaks in! White shoves Cassidy at Ospreay but Ospreay dodges, and Ospreay runs up on White! White gets around, SNAP SLEEPER SUPLEX! URENAGE for Orange! Cover on Orange, TWO!! White is frustrated but he says this is HIS time! White drags Cassidy up, but Cassidy fires off hands! And now we get a ninth man! It’s CMLL’s HECHICERO! The Mad Scientist of Lucha is here and ready to use that in-ring alchemy! Hechicero gets in, blocks White’s lariat to whip!

Hechi runs up to JUMP KNEE White in the corner! Claudio is here, Hechi dodges and tilt-o-whirls for the LEG DROP! Ospreay runs up, Hechi wheelbarrows him into a REVERSE MONKEY FLIP, which puts Ospreay in position for the ARMBAR!! Cassidy grabs at Hechi but Hechi cradles! TWO!! Cassidy RAMS Hechi, runs, but Hechi CLOBBERS Cassidy at ropes, and has a SLEEPER! Ospreay SUPERKICKS Cassidy, Hechi ROCKS Ospreay! Hechi goes up to FLYING LARIAT! The fans are thunderous, but Mistico springboards to FLYING RANA! Mistico builds speed, Lio is in his way! Mistico takes a swing, Lio dodges and he DIVES onto Hechicero!

Shota SHOTGUNS Lio! Mistico tilt-o-whirls Claudio for a DEJA VU RANA! The fans are thunderous as Mistico then goes up and up and FLYING RANAS Claudio on the floor! Shota aims at Cassidy in the ring, POP-UP KNEE! Then underhooks, but Cassidy wrenches out! Cassidy dodges to ORANGE PUNCH!! “This is Awesome!” as Pac slips in. Pac tries to roll Cassidy but Cassidy steps over to sit down! TWO!! Pac escapes, and he SUPERKICKS Cassidy! Pac runs, White shoves Cassidy away so he can clinch Pac! BLADE- NO, Pac slips free to waistlock! White switches with Pac, back suplexes, but Pac lands out! Pac BOOTS White!

ORANGE- SNAP SLEEPER SUPLEX!! White hurries to clinch Cassidy, but HIDDEN BLADE hits first!! Ospreay underhooks Cassidy, lifts, STORM- RANA!!! Cassidy covers, TWO?!?! Ospreay springboards, OSCUTTER!!! Cover, OSPREAY WINS!!!

Winner: Will Ospreay, by pinfall (NEW #1 Contender to the AEW World Championship)

The Aerial Assassin is undefeated in Casino Gauntlets, and now he has himself another title match on the horizon! While Ospreay and Mistico talk about running this back for themselves, Swerve makes his way out! The AEW World Champion stares down the AEW International Champion, then circles him in the ring. Ospreay wants to be the #TwoBeltBruv but he might be forgetting Kyle O’Reilly is coming for him this Saturday. Will Ospreay survive a Collision to then go on to the Forbidden Door? Or will the #BillyGoat not be welcomed in Swerve’s House?

My Thoughts:

An awesome Dynamite here to follow Double or Nothing. For one, Casino Gauntlet is proving to be a great stipulation, AEW knows what they’re doing with it since it’s about wild action from half a dozen or more guys. However, I did not think they’d make it Ospreay as the winner again, considering he’s International Champion. As exciting as Ospreay VS Swerve for the top title obviously is, is this going to be belt for belt? Just Swerve’s belt? Is Ospreay going to lose his belt before challenging just so he won’t have a chance to be double champion? As great as Ospreay is, maybe someone else should’ve won tonight.

Garcia also gave a good promo to call out Ospreay for the International Championship. Ospreay probably beats Kyle this Saturday, Garcia probably wins a match of his own, and surely Garcia is named a contender. Garcia could even force Ospreay into a double header, Ospreay defending the International title to open Forbidden Door then challenging Swerve for the world title in the main event. That could be a way around crowning a double champion, but feels like a disservice to Swerve if he beats a guy who already wore himself out in another match. And Rush calling out MJF, there goes the momentum I thought Rush was gonna build this time around…

Meanwhile, I did like that Cassidy toughed it out and still competed tonight. I figured he would say no to Callis, and that Trent would say yes, because that is what made sense all along. Stokely & Kris made for a good set-up so that Trent could get the drop on Cassidy, and Heel Trent in Heel Callis Family will be some good stuff. Cassidy has a lot of that “What’s next?” now that he has no one. Stokely & Kris also had a very good promo to talk trash on Willow and the entire AEW roster, Kris probably bides her time winning squash matches as a Heel until Willow returns and they can fight at Forbidden Door or All In, some big PPV stage.

Mercedes Mone had a good promo to give Willow her props, and having her celebration turn into a fight that then gave us a title match was some good stuff. Of course Mone won, this got her first defense in the books. Vaquer showing up to silently call her out was great, too, Vaquer VS Mone is also a match that dates back to the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship tournament so that’ll be really fun. Very good promo from Moxley, very good match with Rocky, but of course Moxley won. Moxley’s not gonna go extra title matches, he’s just gonna be focused right on Evil and Dominion. Moxley might even head back to Japan for some final build up to that match with just 10 days left.

“TV Time with Chris Jericho” was perfectly done as a purposefully corny and dumb talk show that also felt a little like a kids show with that cardboard tree and fake grass carpet. And the name works as a name pun because now Jericho, Bill and even Bryan Keith will get TV time. Hook listening to Joe now is surprising, but something had to give, and this does build towards the Six Man Tag I was thinking about after Double or Nothing. Joe, Hook & Shibata VS Jericho, Bill & Keith, Keith taking the loss and either Hook gets one last 1v1 for the FTW title or Joe gets his shot and beats Jericho.

Great stuff from The Elite, such as Jack Perry still driving that black school bus and Okada pretending to be emotional getting a brand new Lamborghini. I almost thought there was gonna be some kind of surprise where the driver of the Lambo was Darby and he’d go after Okada. Instead, very clever stuff where The Bucks wanted to gift Jack with the TNT Championship so that they could be the Golden Elite. And therefore, great counter by having Christopher Daniels be a substitute EVP and announcing the qualifier matches. Jack will surely qualify, though, even if he can’t get help from The Elite, but I’d love if someone like Darby or Bryan Danielson get in on the ladder match. That way, if they aren’t gonna win the title, they can at least keep Jack from winning it.

My Score: 9/10

Action Andretti & Lio Rush w/ Top Flight VS Malakai Black & Buddy Matthews w/ Brody King!

The Sight to See was seeing red because of the losing streak he and the whole flight crew was on. Action got himself a win just last night on ROH, will he and The Bad Child keep that momentum going? Or will they learn that #TheHouseAlwaysWins?

The teams sort out and Action is all revved up for this fight. Lio has him cool off and Lio starts, against The Dark Father himself. The fans bark it up as Malakai stands. Malakai and Lio circle, Action talks a lot of trash already, but Malakai smirks. Malakai and Lio step up, and Malakai kicks! Lio leaps it, ducks the backhand, then avoids the sweep! STUNNER, and Malakai goes to the corner! Lio runs up, but into a BOOT! But Lio sweeps the legs! Cover, ONE! Malakai sweeps to cover, ONE! Malakai goes Matrix to avoid Lio’s heel kick! The fans cheer and Action talks more trash, but Malakai and Lio reset.

Malakai and Lio stare down, but Action tags in! Action says Malakai’s got him to deal with now! Malakai smirks and tags to Buddy. The fans rally as the Aussie Juggernaut circles with action, ties up, and Action wrenches to wristlock. Buddy rolls, rolls back, and KICKS Action away. Action is furious, but Lio holds him back! Lio and the crew wants Action to cool off, and Lio tags in. Lio and Buddy circle now, but Action still has to talk trash at Malakai. Buddy whips Lio, Lio stops to bob ‘n’ weave! Lio headlocks, Buddy powers out and he CLOBBERS Lio! Lio gets up, kicks, but Buddy blocks. Buddy FLIPS Lio, and V-TRIGGERS!

Lio flops out of the ring while the fans fire up, and Top Flight coaches Lio back into this. Buddy storms out, SHOVES Action aside, but the ref gets in there to stop this from getting more physical. Buddy puts Lio in, but Action trips Buddy! Buddy BOOTS Action, Lio HANDSPRING KICKS him! Buddy ROCKS Action, Lio DIVES into Buddy! Lio puts Buddy in, hurries to waistlock, tag to Action. Buddy swings, misses, and ends up in a SHOTGUN SANDWICH! Lio covers, TWO!

Lio clamps onto Buddy with a facelock, brings him over, and Action tags in. They mug Buddy, and The Righteous ware watching this with smiles of their own. Action talks trash on Malakai, runs up on Buddy, but Buddy BOOTS him! Buddy BOOTS Lio, too! Buddy whips Action, tags Malakai, kitchen sink KNEE to the PENALTY KICK! KNEE DROP! Cover, TWO! Malakai whips Action, ELBOWS him down, and Rampage goes picture in picture.

Buddy brings Action around to RUNNING SUPLEX! Buddy taunts Lio, then sits Action up to KNEE him in the back, and then PENALTY KICK! Buddy stands Action up to ROCK him with a forearm! Action sputters as he slumps against ropes, but Malakai brings him up. Action fires body shots!

Action fights the clinch, but Malakai BOOTS him! Action ducks ‘n’ dodges, but so does Malakai! DOUBLE CROSSBODIES collide! Both men are down and their teams fire up! The fans rally, the two crawl, hot tags to Lio and Buddy!

Lio gets around Buddy, shoves him, then redirects. Lio ducks ‘n’ dodges, slides, but Buddy catches him! Back suplex, but Lio lands out! Lio bobs ‘n’ weaves, fires off fast hands and he ROCKS Buddy! Winners: Malakai Black & Buddy Matthews, by pinfall

Lio clutches his ankle, that crash landing might’ve done some real damage. Meanwhile, The Righteous are very excited to see how this turned out. Will ol’ Dutch & Vincent look to visit The House of Black next?

Wait, now what is hothead Action doing? He CHUCKS his water bottle at Malakai!? The House turns around and the fans tell Action he messed up. Action doesn’t care, but Brody SPLASHES him in the corner! The fans bark it up as The House sets up! Top Flight drags Action out of the ring, saving him from himself more than anything. What will it take to make Action think before he acts?

Backstage interview with Anna Jay.

Lexy Nair is with The Queenslayer, and in her return to AEW, Anna takes on Robyn Renegade. Anna has been away in Japan for three months, made some pretty bold claims, what can we expect? Anna says Lexy’s known her since day one of her AEW career. From The Star of the Show to TayJay to Anna Jay-A-S, having a fat ass and a bad attitude, which is still true, and then she made her mark in Japan. So where does Anna fit in now? She doesn’t really know. The AEW Women’s Division looks a lot different than when she left it, but time to find out! Punch by punch, kick by kick, choke by choke!

And let’s see where Robyn fits in, too. Tonight, just try her! Will The Queenslayer use this Renegade to make herself the future of AEW?

Anna Jay VS Robyn Renegade!

AEW returns as Anna makes her entrance to the ring, Robyn already waiting. The bell rings and the fans rally as the two circle. The two tie up, and Robyn uses her height advantage for leverage. But Anna turns things around to put Robyn in a corner. Anna lets off as the ref counts, but Robyn pushes Anna. Robyn talks trash on Anna, the two reset, and they tie up again. Anna headlocks, but Robyn powers up and out. Anna runs Robyn over, things keep moving, and Robyn hurdles. Anna blocks hip toss to fire knee after knee! Anna whips Robyn to a corner, then runs up to forearm SMASH! Anna CHOPS Robyn, then hoists her up top.

Anna wrenches to HOOK KICK! The fans rally for Anna as she hits an ICONOCLASM! Then Anna runs to SHOTGUN! Robyn flounders, Anna drags her up, but Robyn fights the backslide! Robyn runs to ropes, the ref counts, and Anna lets off. But Robyn SUCKER PUNCHES her! Robyn CHOPS Anna, ROCKS her in a corner, then brings Anna around to snapmare. Robyn clamps on, and she fishhooks Anna to make her smile! The ref reprimands, Robyn shoves Anna down at 4. Robyn says it’s finger lickin’ good, then she drags Anna up. Anna JAWBREAKERS! Then CHOPS! Then counter punches!

Whether she’s Star of the Show or not, that’s a big return win from Anna! Will she get even bigger wins until she finally wins the big one?

AEW shares a clip from the Will Ospreay & Ricochet sit-down interview.

The full interview is available now on AEW’s YouTube, but Renee Paquette moderated this face-to-face with Aerial Assassin and #One&Only. In this clip, Ospreay said that this heated rivalry between them, it stems from the “big brother, little brother” kind of thing they’ve always had. Ospreay does feel there is a tinge of jealousy. Ospreay won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, while Ricochet fought for it three times and never got it. Here Ospreay is holding that title while Ricochet walks out the door, doing whatever it is he needed to do (Lucha Underground and WWE).

Ricochet asks if Ospreay really thinks Ricochet not winning a championship in a company is him not fulfilling a promise. He has decades of championships, of great memories, and of giving people feelings. Decades of people walking out of the building, whether Ricochet was champion or not, having people remember him. But speaking of titles, these two will battle for the AEW International Championship this Wednesday as part of the AEW Dynamite 5 Year Anniversary Show! Will Ricochet leave Pittsburgh with that title? Or will Ospreay make him settle for just “giving people feelings?”

Konosuke Takeshita VS Angelico!

Speaking of wanting titles, The Alpha is still in pursuit of gold, but he still has to fight his way to that opportunity. Will tonight bring him one step closer to contention? Or will the South African Stud do the same in his own championship journey?

The bell rings and the fans rally up. Angelico and Konosuke circle, tie up, and are in a deadlock. Konosuke knees low, throws Angelico down, then KICKS him! Angelico gets up to JAB, Konosuke CHOPS, repeat! Konosuke CLAWS Angelico in the eyes, headlocks, but Angelico throws body shots. Angelico powers out to then reel Konosuke in, O’Conner Roll! TWO, and Konosuke clinches. Angelico fights, wrenches, and steps over. Konosuke rolls, rolls Angelico, but Angelico rolls through! Angelico jumps up to BOOT Konosuke down! Konosuke bails out, the fans fire up with Angelico, and Angelico runs.

Konosuke moves, so Angelico rolls back, and he vibes into the Bernie Lean. The fans fire up, Konosuke rolls in, but then rolls out. Konosuke smirks as he trolls Angelico, and Angelico runs up. Konosuke trips Angelico, drags him out, and fires off forearms! Konosuke then brings Angelico around, only for Angelico to POST him! Angelico storms up to KICK Konosuke against railing! Angelico puts Konosuke in, fires up, and the fans cheer. Konosuke runs up to kick low! Konosuke whips, Angelico reverses, but the TAKESHITA LINE hits! The fans rlaly while Konosuke smirks, and Rampage goes picture in picture.

The Acclaimed w/ Billy Gunn VS TJ Crawford & Ryan Clancy!

It’s a return to action and Platinum Max has the mic! “We in Springfield, where they eat dogs ‘n’ cats. These two b*tches gettin’ mauled to death! I hope Tony Khan doesn’t call you back! Nut up or shut up, there’s no balls in these sets! Be added to the murder rate, y’all gettin’ killed like Trump in the first debate! We killin’ the game. In Springfield, everybody loves The Acclaimed.” Anthony Bowens takes the mic to tell “Springfield, Massachuseeeeeetts~! The Acclaimed have arrived! Scissor Me, Daddy Ass~!” And he does~! But will Caster & Bowens be back on track? Or are things about to get FANCY?

The teams sort out, and Caster starts against Clancy. They feel out a knuckle lock, but then Caster kicks low! Caster CLUBS Clancy, CLUBS him more, then taunts Crawford. Caster whips, Clancy reverses but Caster ducks ‘n’ dodges, but Clancy DROPKICKS! Clancy flexes, then brings Caster up, but Caster BACKHANDS him! Winners: The Acclaimed, by pinfall

But that’s not all, as they get the mics back! Caster shouts out the other Max by saying, “Cut my music, cut my music.” Caster then says, “Yo! Yo! YO! Listen. MXM, the Maximum Male Models or whatever they’re called. I heard that, uh, they’re having a little fashion show for Grand Slam Collision. Well, guys, you wanted to give The Best Wrestler Alive’s jacket a little makeover. They wanna make over my jacket. Well, guys, all you had to do was ask! I love makeovers! I love what you guys are all about. Putting makeup on each other, tickling each other’s butts with little feathers. I love what you pansies are all about!

“But guys… I think it’s time for The Acclaimed to crash your little party on Collision, and it’s gonna be time to nut up or shut up!” The fans cheer that, but then MXM speak from the tron! Mansoor gets their attention, then turns to Mason Madden. Mason says they know The Acclaimed want MXM to go to that ring right now. But there seems to be a little bit of confusion. Tonight isn’t the Grand Slam finale of New York Fashion week. That’s tomorrow night. At Arthur Ashe Stadium. At Grand Slam Collision. And in the spirit of Arthur Ashe, MXM will be serving. But The Acclaimed won’t be receiving, because they’re no longer invited!

MXM laughs in turn as they turn around, and MXM “hopes” Acclaimed can find a comfortable spot on their couch from which to watch the greatest debut in fashion history! MXM fingertip touch, but what could they have done to Caster’s jacket? Will they come to regret getting on The Acclaimed’s bad side?

Willow Nightingale VS Taya Valkyrie!

The Babe with The Power stood up to Mariah May as she was about to brutalize Yuka Sakazaki, but she’s not the only one interested in the title picture. Mrs. TV wants to be The Main Character, but will she find herself more like a major antagonist for the real hero of this story?

The bell rings and the fans rally for Willow. Willow dodges Taya, then dodges her again. Willow seems a bit out of sorts, but she still waistlocks Taya first. Willow goes to the apron, and runs up to CANNONBALL! Down goes Taya and the fans fire up again! Taya flounders, the ref checks her, and Willow stays back while Rampage goes picture in picture.

Willow keeps the fans fired up, and it would seem Taya is okay. Willow fires forearms, puts Taya in the ring, but then Taya bails out the side. Taya staggers, but Willow pursues her. Willow CLUBS Taya, stalks her to railing, but Taya YANKS her into them! Willow sits back, Taya runs up, METEORA against railing! Taya smothers Willow, but lets off as the ref goes out there. Taya taunts us through the camera, then stomps Willow around. Taya likes the one fan’s bright yellow hair, can’t imagine why. Taya SMACKS Willow off the steel steps! The ref reprimands, Taya “apologizes,” but then she soaks up the heat.

Taya kicks Willow, pushes her into the ring, then stalks her. Taya pushes Willow over to cover, TWO! Willow stays in this but Taya stays on her. Willow fires body shots, then waistlocks. Willow survives and Taya slaps herself to focus.

Taya hauls Willow up, CHOPS her in the corner, then puts her up top. Taya fires forearms, the fans rally up, and Taya climbs. But Willow CLUBS Taya! Willow slips under, brings Taya off the corner, but Taya fights free! SUPERKICK! Willow falls, Taya hurries to the corner! Taya climbs, but Willow rises! Willow ROCKS Taya, goes up, and she brings Taya to the very top! SUPERPLEX! Both women are down and the fans fire up! A standing count begins and the two stir. Willow grabs for ropes and drags herself up. We’re past 5 of 10, but both women stand at 7! Taya fires a forearm, and another, and another!

Taya SLAPS Willow, but that was a mistake! Taya runs, Willow goes the other way! Willow POUUUNCE~! PERIOD! The straps are down, Willow hauls Taya up, BABE WITH THE POWER BOMB!! Cover, Willow wins!

Winner: Willow Nightingale, by pinfall

That was a battle to be sure, and though Willow won, both women are smiling! Is Taya still going to see herself as the Main Character no matter what? Will Willow win her way onto Mariah May’s radar?

My Thoughts:

A great Rampage here, with a bit more story build than usual. Very good stuff with the opening tag match, and Action was really heated the whole time. Seems a bit too much when he isn’t acting like that in ROH, just AEW. But still good stuff overall, and it of course cost his team. Action isn’t letting it go, though, so we’ll surely get more of these teams facing each other. The Righteous also being present, they probably get more involved the next time. Not sure why they haven’t been seen with Lance Archer, but it just proves to me TK moves his people around without thinking. Archer, Dutch & Vincent VS House of Black should be a Trios match we get for like WrestleDream Zero Hour.

Very good promo from Anna to lead into her match with Robyn, and it was a solid match. Of course Anna won, but I like that she did it with Tay Conti’s Gory Bomb. Anna might not be ready for the world title, but she could probably challenge for the TBS Championship at some point. Great match from Konosuke and Angelico, and great win for Konosuke. Sammy Guevara may be getting his Title Eliminator with Okada on Collision but I’m thinking Sammy loses that, because it should be Konosuke taking the Continental Championship from The Rainmaker.

A good rap from Caster, though a touch generic when he’s just facing normal looking guys Clancy & Crawford. And good match, but of course The Acclaimed win, then call out MXM, only for MXM to respond. That “fashion reveal” will be a fun segment for Collision, and surely we get a tag match, maybe even at WrestleDream so all these guys get that big stage to shine on. Hard to say the winners challenge for tag titles following but it’d be quite the proverbial feather in the caps of MXM if they beat one of the more decorated factions in AEW.

And great match in the main event from Willow and Taya, though Taya did seem to be a little rattled after that cannonball to the floor. She shook it off, finished the match, and gave Willow a great win. As I said for Dynamite, Willow surely floats in that AEW Women’s World Championship scene to complicate things further between Mariah and Mina. Maybe we get a tag match, maybe we get Willow VS Mariah before we get Mariah VS Mina, it could be some really fun stuff.

My Score: 8.8/10

Nigel McGuinness VS Bryan Danielson!

A moment we thought might never come again might finally happen. The big caveat is that The American Dragon needs to be medically cleared to compete, but Jon Moxley’s brutal betrayal involved him damn near suffocating the AEW World Champion! Is Nigel just taking advantage of that to make himself feel better? Or is the shirt right, and Bryan FEARS Nigel?

The music isn’t Final Countdown but Born for Greatness, so that’s a curious move already. Everyone is watching the stage closely, but Nigel grabs himself a mic. He says he knew it! He hasn’t Bryan Danielson all day, so “The American Coward just dropped the ball.” Let’s get a ten count so Nigel can be declared the winner, and Bryan can be STRIPPED of the world title! The count does begin but hard to say about the rest of that. We pass 5 of 10, but then at 7, the song changes! “IT’S THE FINAL~ COUNTDOWN~!” And yes, Bryan Danielson has made it to Queens, New York, he IS cleared to compete!

Bryan high-fives and fist bumps the front row all around ringside before he steps into the ring. The bell rings and the fans are thunderous as this rivalry’s final chapter is written before our eyes! Nigel and Bryan stare down, circle, and they tie up. The fans are already losing their minds, and then Nigel UPPERCUTS! Nigel soaks up the cheers and jeers but Bryan comes back. They circle, tie up, and Bryan clinches to spin and UPPERCUT Nigel! Nigel staggers back, checks his teeth, and the fans rally up again. Nigel shakes that off, resets with Bryan, and the two tie up. Nigel wrenches and wristlocks, but Bryan rolls.

Bryan bridges, spins, and wrenches around to wristlock, but Nigel UPPERCUTS! The fans are torn but Nigel soaks it all up again. Nigel talks a bit of smack, “Too easy, Tony! Too easy!” The two go again, Bryan wrenches and hammerlocks, then spins Nigel to snapmare. Bryan KICKS Nigel in the back and the fans fire up! Nigel gets mad now, and stands right up. Bryan and Nigel get forehead to forehead, then Nigel pushes Bryan. Bryan and Nigel tie up, Nigel waistlocks, but Bryan wrenches. Nigel spins, slips under, and wrangles Bryan with a top wristlock. Bryan hurries right up, wrenches and wrenches and wristlocks.

Nigel spins, drops, breaks Bryan’s grip, then stands to wrangle him again. Fans cheer this exchange but it’s still going! Bryan uses that same spin move to get Nigel’s wrist! Nigel spins, facelocks, Bryan wrenches out, only for Nigel to wrench and pass the hand around. Bryan rolls, cartwheels, wrenches, and wristlocks again! The fans cheer more as Nigel moves around, and he sends Bryan into ropes! Nigel KICKS ropes to jam Bryan up! The ref reprimands, but Nigel brings Bryan up to fire palm strikes from all ends! Nigel has the mount for more ground ‘n’ pound! Bryan turns things around again, has a leg, and he throws hands down on the abs! Nigel works around, and he ahs the omoplata! Bryan fights around and rolls, to get the omoplata! LEBELL LOCK!! Nigel endures, fights around, reaches out, and ROPEBREAK! The ref counts, Bryan lets off quickly, reminding the ref he has ’til 5. But then Nigel YANKS Bryan out to the floor! Bryan clutches his arm, but Nigel storms out to sends him into railing! And then into steel steps! The fans are torn as Nigel now tips those steps over! The ref reprimands, Nigel refreshes the ring count, and goes back for Bryan.

Nigel drags Bryan up, around, and drop toeholds him into steel steps! Bryan’s arm gets hurt mostly from bracing himself against the steel. Nigel wrangles Bryan, hooks an arm, and he pulls on the steps! Bryan slips free before the steps can fall on his arm! Nigel storms up on Bryan but Bryan HEADBUTTS him! Nigel goes into the ring but Bryan drags him out, to POST him! Bryan then grabs Nigel’s arms, to YANK him into the post! But Nigel SLAMS Bryan’s arm into the post! Nigel pushes Bryan into the ring, storms in after him, and drags Bryan by the arm into the LONDON DUNGEON! Bryan endures the keylock stretch and fights back, ROPEBREAK!

Nigel snarls as his improvising didn’t pay off. Nigel drags Bryan, and counters the leg scissors to a cover! TWO!!

Bryan has the arm and drags Nigel in, LEBELL- NO, Nigel blocks, and he bends the fingers before he hits an ELBOW BREAKER! Bryan writhes and gets away, and the fans rally while both men are down again. Nigel rises first, and he storms over. Nigel UPPERCUTS Bryan, then eggs Bryan on to give him one back. Bryan UPPERCUTS, but that’s the bad arm! Nigel grins, he goaded Bryan into that. Nigel hammerlocks the bad arm and sends Bryan to the corner, but Bryan goes up and over! Winner: Bryan Danielson, by submission

This battle was 15 years in the making, and though Nigel pushed Bryan, he could not break Bryan! The AEW World Champion stands- WAIT! Christian Cage is making his way out here! Captain Charisma does have that Casino Contract, is he going to cash in now? Bryan stares Christian down, not intimidated in the least. Christian opens up the folder, clicks his pen, but Kip Sabian is creeping up! Mr. Superbad says YOINK and takes the pen! Christian chases Kip down, but then Claudio Castagnoli & PAC are there! Christian goes the other direction, but is still looking for Kip. Will there be no “undisputed” next AEW World Champion if Kip can help it?

As for The Swiss Superman & The Bastard, if they’re in the building, will they expect Wheeler Yuta to talk with them? Will Bryan look to have some words of his own?

FTW Championship: Hook VS Roderick Strong w/ The Kingdom!

Just as The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil saved this title from the #JerichoVortex, he ends up running afoul of the Undisputed Kingdom. The Savior of the Backbreaker says the controversy of his defeat is reason enough HE should be champion now, but he’ll have to prove it by winning. Will Roddy #SendHook home without this gold? Or will Hook prove Roddy isn’t as strong as he thinks?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who aces the match in Arthur Ashe!

Roddy staggers, comes back, but gets another JAWBREAKER for it! Hook NORTHERN LIGHTS! Dynamite returns to single picture as Hook goes to ropes. Roddy runs up, into a BOOT! Hook goes to a corner, Roddy runs up again, but Hook sends him into buckles! Hook then clinches to SAIDO! The fans fire up and Hook LARIATS! And LARIATS! Hook KNEES low, then hits the UCHIMADA!

The fans fire up as Hook runs corner to corner to LARIAT! Hook fires body shots, a HEADBUTT, then brings Roddy in, NORTHERN LIGHTS! Bridging cover this time, TWO! Hook holds onto a wristlock, wants a keylock, but Roddy fights with his own grip. The fans rally as the two stand, and Hook brings Roddy to a corner. Roddy blocks the buckle bump to DECK Hook! The fans rally, but The Kingdom sends in chairs for Roddy! Roddy wedges a chair in the corner, but Hook has him! RED- NO, Roddy RAMS Hook into the chair! Roddy runs corner to corner, JUMP KNEE! And then RUNNING MAT RETURN! Cover, TWO!

The fans rally as Hook stays in this. Roddy grabs the chair out of the corner, sets it and another chair up, and then brings Hook over. Hook fights the nelson with elbows, then FULL METAL SAYANAGI! Roddy writhes from landing on the chairs, Hook covers, TWO!! Roddy stays in this, but Hook wants the Redrum! Roddy fights it, fireman’s carries, and he FULL METAL GUT BUSTERS! SICK KICK!! Cover, TWO!!! Hook survives, the fans are thunderous, but The Kingdom says Roddy has this! Roddy hobbles back to Hook, drags him up, and suplexes, but Hook slips free! REDRUM!! Roddy drops, The Kingdom panics, but RODDY TAPS! HOOK WINS!

Winner: Hook, by submission (still FTW Champion)

No controversy this time! Hook makes Roddy tap and there’s not denying it! But then The Kingdom regroup, and they get in Hook’s face! Only to offer a handshake? The fans aren’t so sure, but Hook accepts. They hug it out, and Roddy leads the way out. Hook has won the respect of some ROH icons, will that seal of approval take him to new heights?

As Hook exits the ring, Tony Schiavone hopes off commentary to talk with him. Schiavone says take a breath, Hook, you earned it. Let’s give it up for Hook! The fans cheer, and Schiavone says this title defense must be Hook’s most satisfying. Back in 1998, only three miles from here, at The Elks Lodge, the FTW Championship was born by Hook’s father, Taz. Tonight, right here in Queens, Hook is still champion, so congratulations. Hook says yeah, well, thanks for that. And with all that being said, all good things must come to an end.

Hook says that on behalf of the family, he would like to thank each and every wrestler who has ever competed for this championship. The fans cheer that. Hook says on top of that, he’d like to thank each and every one of the fans for supporting the FTW Championship. The fans cheer again, and Hook says that for now, in this very moment, the FTW Championship is officially retired. Hook hands it off to his dad, and Taz hugs it out with his son. The fans cheer this great moment, “Thank You, Taz!” Hook has kept his family’s legacy strong, but is he now going to truly carve his own path in pro-wrestling?

Ospreay looks to Kyle, and the two are on different pages. What will this mean for their friendship? Will any team ever take these titles from The Bucks?

Backstage interview with The Conglomeration.

Renee Paquette is with Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly & Rocky Romero. Cassidy says no need to put “and” here, as The Conglomeration officially welcomes Rocky to the team. Cassidy hands Rocky a shirt, and Rocky is honored to conglomerate with them. Renee moves on to note The Conglomeration’s Cassidy, Briscoe & O’Reilly will be taking on Chris Jericho’s Learning Tree in a Trios Tornado match for Collision, what can we expect? Mark says one thing to expect is some cool Conglomeration shirts! Brand new on AEW Shop! But that new shirt is gonna have to be changed already to include a doodle of Rocky…

Anyway, Mark will explain why he’s wearing the classic #DemBoys shirt for tonight. That is because he is feeling the energy here in Arthur Ashe Stadium, just five miles away from where The Briscoes had their last tag team match ever! The baddest team of all time, #DemBoys! And Collision, The Conglomeration is gonna give The Learning Tree a #DemBoys style ass whoopin’! Briscoe style! Be ready Jericho! Be ready, Bill! Be ready, Keith! Because they’re comin’ for ya! RA RA RA!! Wait, what’s the word of the day? Oh, shoot, thank you, Kyle, for reminding him. The word of the day is, “vociferous.”

Ah yes, to be outspoken, blatant and noisy. YEAH, like the crowd here in Queens, baby! Just like the Grand Slam Dynamite crowd tonight, and the Grand Slam crowd for Collision, when The Conglomeration whoops The Learning Tree up one side o’ the tree and down the other, LET’S GO, BABY! Mark is fired up, Kyle follows, and Cassidy says Rocky can go follow them. Rocky says okay, and heads out. Renee says Rocky will get there. Cassidy agrees. But will things be even sweeter for The Conglomeration now that they’ve added some Azucar?

Tony Schiavone is on stage.

Schiavone says here with an update on Swerve Strickland, here is New York’s own Prince Nana! The fans cheer as Nana makes his way out, and he shows off his brand of java, on sale now. Nana still does the dance for Swerve’s House, and Schiavone says it has been a few weeks since we’ve seen Swerve, after quite a wild couple of weeks for him. First at All In, he loses the AEW World Championship to Bryan Danielson. Then, Hangman Page burns down Swerve’s childhood home. And then, All Out, the Lights Out Steel Cage, Hangman brutalizes Swerve, and Swerve loses by referee stoppage.

Nana says first of all, he must say, it is good to be in New York in whose house? “SWERVE’S HOUSE!” Then how is Swerve doing? Nana says hey, he’s known Schiavone a long time, and Swerve means a lot to Nana. Mentally, there is nothing that can stop the most dangerous man in AEW! The fans cheer that. But physically… Swerve is not cleared to come back, but is fighting hard every single day for each and every one in whose house? “SWERVE’S HOUSE!” But then someone interrupts Nana, and out walks MONTEL VONTAVIOUS PORTER, M V P!! Fans go nuts and MVP asks Schiavone to please pardon the intrusion.

MVP reintroduces himself, M to the V P! But you already know that, don’t you? MVP says he must agree with Nana: Swerve IS the most dangerous man in AEW, no question about it. As a matter of fact, MVP will do us one better. It is MVP’s opinion that Swerve is the most phenomenal talent to ever set foot in AEW. Yes! His 2024 run will be studied by future generations. Eight MONTHS without being pinned or submitted, with wins over the likes of Samoa Joe, Roderick Strong, Christian Cage, and Will Ospreay! Chef’s kiss, MVP was watching all of it.

But he also saw what Schiavone talked about. MVP saw Swerve lose the AEW World Championship in the main event of All In. And he saw Swerve’s childhood home burned to the ground. And he must ask Nana, the man that beat Swerve for the title, WHY is he walking around, talking about it, all smiling? The man that burned Swerve’s home to the ground, WHY is he not beat all the hell?! See, none of this is a failure on Swerve. MVP knows how good that man is. This is a failure on Swerve’s manager! A manager more concerned with selling his coffee and “shuckin’ ‘n’ jivin’,” dancing for the people!

The fans boo and Nana gets worked up, but MVP says take it easy, it’s not that kinda party. What MVP wants Nana to do is to let Swerve know, that when Swerve is ready to be taken seriously again, when he is ready to return to the mountaintop where he belongs, please give him MVP’s business card, and let him know that MVP will be ready to talk business. MVP leaves, and Nana is beside himself. What will Swerve choose when he returns to 100%?

The Scapegoat bus continues on.

Jack Perry drives on the bridge, headed into Queens, ready for a Collision. The TNT Championship Open Challenge awaits, who will answer the call?

AEW Women’s World Championship: Mariah May VS Yuka Sakazaki!

The Glamour has not taken the Wrestling Magical Girl serious for even one nanosecond since her return, and that’s even when Yuka & Queen Aminata almost won a tag match against Mariah & Serena Deeb. Mariah waistlocks and then lifts, HIGH ANGLE GERMAN SUPLEX!! Cover, TWO!! Yuka survives and now Mariah is getting mad! The fans rally, Mariah drags Yuka up, scoop and swing, to SLAM! Cover, TWO!! Yuka is still in this, but Mariah takes aim. Yuka sits up, Mariah runs up, but Yuka swats the kick! Roll-up, SUPERKICK! Mariah wobbles, Yuka scoops, NORTHERN LIGHTS BOMB!! Yuka says time to end this and the fans fire up! Yuka goes to the apron, climbs the ropes, MAGICAL GIRL SPLASH, onto knees!! Mariah KNEES Yuka in the face! But she’s not done! STORM ZERO!! Cover, Mariah wins!

Winner: Mariah May, by pinfall (still AEW Women’s World Champion)

A powerful showing by Yuka, but she didn’t have enough power to bring down the evil villainess that is Mariah May! But Mariah is still in a foul mood, so she winds up and aims at Yuka! But wait! Here comes Willow Nightingale! The Babe with The Power stands in Mariah’s way! The fans fire up for this one, but then wait! Here comes Mina Shirakawa! Willow looks for the Fighting Gravure Idol, but Mariah CLOBBERS her with the belt first! And that shocks Mina! Mariah runs up to pick Mina up in her eyes, and she sweeps Mina up in the celebration! Mina is unsure what to do, but here comes Yuka!

Mariah runs away, and Mina is literally caught in between her former friend and her peers! Will it take her friendship with Mariah to snap Mariah out of this insanity? Or will Mariah keep AEW #AllAboutMay?

YES! YES!” but Claudio whispers something to Moxley.

Bryan Danielson is ready to fight the man he once called friend, but will Saturday, October 12th be the end? Or will The Maniac fail to slay The American Dragon?

My Thoughts:

An awesome Dynamite here, really making the most of their time in Grand Slam. And I’ve said this in the past that keeping the championship status quo is fine, so long as it is all done in great, entertaining ways, and we certainly got that tonight. Granted, I expected a bit more out of that FTW Championship match, but maybe that’s just from Chris Jericho always going the extra mile in wacky weapons and overbooking. Hook of course retained against Roddy, but the surprising thing is that, though rumored for a few weeks now, the FTW Championship is once again “retired.” Hook can move on from here, and I would think he goes for the TNT Championship.

The only thing about that, though, is that Collision is being recorded right after Dynamite, it isn’t going to be live on Saturday. Hook VS Roddy probably held itself back as an FTW Rules match so Hook wouldn’t be wiped out and could still do a match with Jack Perry. It might be a bit much, but they’re in New York, that’s Hook’s territory, so I would think the fans would love seeing more Hook. But even then, I don’t see Jack losing the TNT Championship on TV, even if it is Grand Slam. That might be more a PPV level thing, against someone more like Daniel Garcia. Though, Garcia is also a New York guy, maybe he gets the Open Challenge match?

I appreciate that we didn’t get as many promos as usual on a Dynamite, and we made sure the promos we got were important. Nana gave a rather expected update on Swerve, but what a surprise to see MVP here tonight! And quite the intriguing move for MVP to offer his managerial services to Swerve. I would think Swerve politely declines and sticks with Nana, which can then give us Swerve VS Bobby Lashley, each man having a manager that could get involved. Hurt Business signing with AEW right as a handful of AEW stars are considering their options in WWE, certainly interesting timing but perhaps it just couldn’t be helped.

The other promo being Conglomeration hyping up their Trios Tornado match was also very good, but I really did mean that about the shirt thing. “Interesting timing” is more like poor timing here. AEW has a new and very clever Conglomeration shirt idea, only for it to be obsolete because they need to add Rocky now. That Trios Tornado is going to be great stuff, probably goes either way, and I would love if Big Bill gets a lot of shine being a New Yorker, and also because fans are starting to accept Bill. Something has to happen where Bill breaks free from Jericho, what with that line from a few weeks ago, “If you think you have a friend in this business, they’re just using you.” I’d love to see Jericho show his true colors, Bill gives him a choke slam, Conglomeration wins.

And speaking of Conglomeration, I didn’t think Willow would lose only to move up to the world title scene. Great match from Mariah VS Yuka, and great win for Mariah, only for Willow and Mina to both show up. Yuka didn’t look all that done with Mariah, either, so maybe we get a tag team match first, Willow & Yuka VS Mariah & Mina. And depending on how that goes, we can easily pivot into Mariah VS Mina given Mina did a pretty good job showing her conflicted feelings over how Mariah was acting just tonight. And if they want to stretch this story a bit, that’s fine, Willow can get the WrestleDream match, and then Mariah VS Mina is for Full Gear.

Awesome tag team match from The Bucks VS United Empire, but it still went as the math showed last week, aka Bucks retained. Good use of Callis and that evil screwdriver, though, as Ospreay left The Don Callis Family over the very same disagreement. Kyle was ready to jab a Buck with the screwdriver, Ospreay said no, and Callis will surely bend this into blaming Ospreay. Might complicate my hopes that Kyle was to join Ospreay, but maybe there will be some more twists and turns along the way. But this all opens the door for WrestleDream, Bucks can defend against just about any team, while Ospreay has to worry about Ricochet next week for the Dynamite Anniversary before going on to the PPV. It would be wild if we get Ospreay VS Fletcher for the International Championship because of Callis’ manipulation.

And great move bookending the show with the AEW World Championship story. Anyone that thought Nigel VS Bryan was going to main event was not thinking of AEW doing things realistically here. No one is going to schedule a main event that might not even happen, so you of course open with it instead. Granted, we all knew Bryan was showing up, this was a great call. Awesome opener, but Bryan of course won. Very clever move for Christian Cage to try a cash-in, only for Kip Sabian to stop it. And the detail of Pac & Claudio being just behind the curtain was also good, as they weren’t going to let anyone else take this title off Bryan, this is for Moxley to do.

Awesome match from Moxley VS Darby, and I did not expect so much blood from Darby’s mouth. Of course Marina was a factor during the match, and while in a vacuum, it is a shame Darby lost his world title match opportunity, there is obviously a lot of heat to this Bryan VS Moxley story. Bryan using a neck tie as a nod to when he did that to Justin Roberts was clever, and good move for Private Party & Komander to help Bryan fight off BCC. Seems the World Trios Championship match is still on if Zay’s gonna be out here, so it kinda falls on what Yuta chooses to do. Will Yuta still fight to win? Or will he throw the match at screw over BCC?

My Score: 9/10
