The Big Five Project returns to cover one of the worst WrestleManias of all time, namely WrestleMania XI. With the steroid scandal behind him, Vince McMahon shifts his focus to a badly depleted roster, poor ticket sales, cratering popularity, and a host of other problems. His solution to this was to put on a WrestleMania that was shy on actual talent but put a real emphasis on celebrity talent. Never was this more evident than in the Main Event, when Bam Bam Bigelow took on Lawrence Taylor. LT was, without question, one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history. But his in-ring skill did not come close to matching up. Meanwhile, the WWF Championship match between Shawn Michaels and “Big Daddy Cool” Diesel got pushed to the appetizer for the Main Event. Combine that with what Bret Hart described as his worst PPV match of all-time, a lackluster Undertaker match v King Kong Bundy, the Allied Powers, and a host of other issues and you have all the ingredients necessary for a train wreck. And a train wreck is exactly what we got 30 years ago. We cover it all for you here, so you don’t have to watch it yourself. You can thank us later. The Big Five Project returns for one of the most anticipated Episodes in its relatively young history as this week the guys (joined by the one and only DPP) tackle WrestleMania X. Having toiled through a deluge of subpar PPVs in 1993, The Big Five Project reaches a proverbial oasis in the desert as WrestleMania X is one of the best Manias of all-time. The 10th Anniversary of the Showcase of the Immortals featured not one, but two, of the greatest WrestleMania matches ever and this Episode contains watch alongs of both of those matches: Bret Hart v. Owen Hart and then Shawn Michaels v. Razor Ramon in a ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship! Also at WrestleMania X, we got “Macho Man” Randy Savage’s final WrestleMania match, and the end of Yokozuna’s reign as WWF Champion! The Attitude Of Aggression returns for another installment of The Big Four Project, a chronological analysis, review, and discussion about WWE’s Big Four PPVs/ Premium Live Events. On this Episode, the guys face their ultimate challenge…. making WrestleMania IX interesting. Regarded by many as the worst WrestleMania of all-time, the guys do their utmost best to break the event down and to try and make sense as to how and why it was booked as badly as it was. WWE got the location right for WrestleMania IX, but everything else was very wrong. Filled with frustrating non-finishes, matches being made up on the fly, double Doinks, chloroform filled rags, and a bizarre finish done for the sole purpose of getting Hulk Hogan (of all people) over, WrestleMania IX was very bad indeed. The guys do find a few gems here and there though. Is it enough to salvage this event from the lowest level of WrestleMania hell?
