Andrew’s TNA LIVE! Impact Results & Ratings: 8.27.26

Coming off a fairly fun Lockdown, we get a live Lockdown. Leon Slater cashed in Option C after beating Cedric Alexander, so he’ll get his title shot for Bound For Glory. The Nemeths upset the Hardyz, Moose accidentally Speared Kaz out of the cage, so he cost himself the match. Aside from wrestling results, Avery Styles announced he’s officially with TNA and using AJ’s old Demi-Gods theme as his theme. Kiera Hogan returned to TNA as Allie’s mystery tag partner, I’m still calling them Hot Bunnies, I don’t care if they get a real name.

As for tonight, we know we’re getting the Finals to the Knockouts TV Title Tournament and Santino did announce an X Division qualifier up through Bound For Glory for a 6 way title fight. Let’s see what else they got on the docket!

Results:

The Kaibas walk out, Double Champ Big Brother and the Little Brother as a two time tag champion. Ryan plays up the fact only Kurt Angle achieved the same thing as Nic, which is, simultaneously holding the tag title with the World title. Nic and Ryan clown on Kurt, but that is still rarified air. Nic says something wholesome like “Kids always reach for the stars and bet on yourself” waits for the crowd reaction, and then says “Unless its against me”. Leon comes out of course, still can’t cut a promo and tries to get his “white guy” voice over because Oba Femi did it better a few weeks ago. Leon angles for a shot at the Tag Titles while they’re waiting for Bound For Glory, its all to signal Ricky Sosa to come out. Ryan says Daria wouldn’t let it happen but Santino’s music plays. Santino gets the Hometown Pop and calls him “Stupidhead Ryan”. Santino makes it a title shot as the main event tonight. 

We then go backstage to Mila Moore on the phone, she says it’s Ali still in a hospital bed after Lockdown. So Mila says Skyler will replace him in the match against Hotch and Trey Miguel. Mila also sweetens the pot saying with Ali’s absence Skyler is the leader, which gets a scoff from Tasha. 

Elijah vs Bear Bronson w/Brian Myers

I’ve said it at least once, Elijah…I’m sick of. He got injured when he was actually pretty hot and the current crap he’s been doing is just corny. 

Bear explodes at Elijah, but then Elijah hits the ropes, double duck under and a Flying Shoulder Tackle and goes to the STUPID ROPE WALK TOO EARLY! I swear he does that just to piss me off now. That shouldn’t be his second move, its stupid that early.

Yeah then Elijah starts bouncing Bear’s face off the apron and then goes Around the World for a Drive By but Myers stops him so Bear sideswipes him with a Dive. Throws Elijah back in, goes for a middle rope Elbow Drop and then chokes Elijah on the ropes before Elijah starts fighting back, Up and Over is blocked but Elijah kicks him off, charges and eats a Bossman Slam for two! Strike Exchange because every match needs one, Elijah counters two Forearms with two Superkicks, missed the Knee Lift and Bear turns it into a Sitout Choke Bomb for two. Bear wants a Powerbomb or something but Elijah turns it into an Alabama Slam. Myers gets on the apron to try and motivate Bear, Elijah rocks Myers into the guardrail, perches Bear and then hits the Highwayman’s Farewell.

The entire System hit the ring after and beat the holy Hell out of Elijah. The match was meh, no heat, barely any logic of Elijah just thinking that The System attacked him. And yes, it looses some points because Elijah goes for that moronic Rope Walk too early without properly softening up an opponent.

Face turn for Elayna? Yea…I’m not buying her as a babyface. So this should be interesting.

John Skyler & Agent Zero w/Mila Moore & Tasha Steelz vs Trey Miguel & Jason Hotch

I refuse to call him Special Agent when Zero is the most Boost Mobile Big Man I’ve ever seen. I’d call him trash, but that would be an insult to Trey Miguel. Ain’t nothing special about Agent Zero.

Trey and Skyler start, simple Shoulder Tackle from Skyler and then Trey goes into Temu Lucha moves with the Mexican Arm Drag a Headscissors and then a tag out. Hotch and Skyler stare at each other and Zero blind tags himself in and instantly goes for Hotch’s injured ribs. Hotch fires back causing Zero to powder and hits a Tope con Hilo on Zero. Trey and Hotch throw Zero back in, Mila grabs Jason’s foot to stop him so Zero posts him. Skyler checks on Hotch, Mila yells at him and Zero shoves him to the side to keep killing Hotch. Hard Irish Whips, Release Belly to Belly, and Knees and Stomps to the injured ribs.

Hotch tries to fight out but Zero clubs him and Whips him inside out off the buckles against before just dumping him with a Back Drop. Zero is relentless and finally tags out and Skyler hits a Russian Leg Sweep into a Bow and Arrow Stretch. The crowd is trying to cheer on Hotch, but a Swinging Scoop Slam from Skyler stops Hotch from tagging, Skyler tags Zero back in and the punishment continues. Zero presses Hotch and Release Press Slam, into a kick to the ribs and chokes him on the ropes. Mila then chokes him as well and Tasha scolds Mila. Tasha and Skyler are bickering a little since they are Hotch’s closest allies. But Hotch starts fighting out with Elbows before eating a Deep Six with extra swing. Only a two count and Zero chases the referee out of the ring.

A quick fire of Chops and an Enzuigiri give Hotch a shot, but as he Dives for a tag, Zero grabs him into a Bear Hug. Hotch bites Zero and Jaw Breaker. Hotch tags out and Skyler is in. Lionsault from Trey wipes out Skyler, quick strikes and a Matrix into a Pele Kick give Trey a two. Back Elbow from Trey, flips through the corner, Trey wants a Meteora but Zero moves Skyler. Zero eats Trey, Hotch wants the Rolling Neckbreaker but Zero dodges and Hotch refuses to hit Skyler. Zero wants a Yakuza Kick from the blindside but Hotch moves and Zero lays out Skyler. Zero and Hotch fight to the outside, Hotch posts Zero and Trey hits the Meteora on Skyler for the win.

After the match, Ali’s on the tron putting over Hotch for nearly doing what he said, with a slight dig. But Ali offers a truce, Hotch can return to Order 4 with Open Arms. Hotch has another decision to make, and this seems like Ali is scared. 

In the back, Rich and BDE are going over the tape and The Righteous walk up and keep trying to pitch BDE on seeing them as the correct choice. Dutch offers himself as a measuring stick for BDE’s potential first win, but Vincent implies that when he loses again, not to blame them…

KO TV Tournament Finals: M by Elegance w/Elegance Brand vs Jada Stone

Maggie is wonderful, I just have grown to hate the Elegance Brand gimmick. So while I’m happy regardless of whichever win from a perspective of I like both individually…I have to choose Jada here because the Elegance Brand is insufferable.

Maggie shoves Jada into the corner using her height and power but but off the break Jada goes for consecutive Roll-Ups, Matrix dodges a Big Boot and rocks Maggie in the corner. Forearm to the Face and a Missile Dropkick into a Standing Moonsault only get a two but Maggie powders fast. Jada wants a Plancha but Maggie moves, trips her, then muscles her against the apron to hit a Wheelbarrow Suplex driving Jada into the apron. Maggie rolls her back in, two count and Maggie chokes Jada against the corner, clubs her repeatedly and a Landslide into a two count!

Jada retreats to the corner, tries to fight back but Maggie is using Hard Irish Whips to bounce Jada in the corner, focusing on the back that sustained the tacks and all the damage during the Lethal Lockdown match. Jada tries to fight up, hits the ropes but eats a Big Boot from Maggie. Maggie goes for a Neck Crank, but Jada fights out, again tries to hit the ropes, but Maggie plucks her out of the Crossbody and Sack of Shit! Maggie pulls at the arm and Bootwashes Jada in the ropes to hyper extend the injured arm. Jada tries a Roll-Up, but Maggie kicks out and Dropkicks Jada. Jada continues to get choked and crushed in the corner by Maggie. Snapmare from Maggie and a Dropkick, but only a one count.

Maggie perches Jada, Overhand Chop, but Jada fights her off, but a Pump Kick into a Tower of London! 1-2-Kicks out! Maggie thought it was over, so Maggie stomps her and goes for the Moonsault. Jada moves, Maggie charges and misses, Maggie charges with a Pump Kick but misses and Jada is scrappy. Chopping and Clawing, Headscissors rocks Maggie, Tiger Feint! Wheelbarrow Stomp, but only a two count! Spark Stunner…nope! Maggie tries a Roll-Up but Jada gets out, two kicks to the face, Split Legged Moonsault attemmpt but Maggie gets up and hits a Blue Thunder Bomb! Superkick and Death Valley…no Jada slips it, Jada slips Maggie, Rope Run Uppercut, Lionsault attempt from Jada but Knees Up! Running Knee Lift into a Cartwheel Jacknife Powerbomb. Maggie goes to the top but Jada hits a Superkick to stop Maggie!

Brawling leads to a Spanish Fly from Jada, but they’re both down. The crowd erupts, Jada Corkscrew Moonsault but Maggie is too close to the ropes! Maggie kicks her off, Spark Stun- no Cradle, Maggie keeps a hold of Jada through the kick out and hits a Package Tombstone for the win!

It was a great match, started a little slow, but turned out to be about 15 minutes and really well done. Like I said beforehand, I like Maggie a lot…I just am sick of the gimmick. 

We come back from commercial and Jeff Hardy is being loaded into an ambulance, Matt says he just needs to ride with his brother but they have no clue who’s been attack Moose, Cedric and now Jeff.

Indi Hartwell walks out to the ring. Indi says she’s a little pissed that Daria said she’s not qualified to challenge for the Knockouts Title. The crowd screams “Daria’s a bitch” and Indi smirks and acknowledges it by saying “Daria…is a lot of things…” Indi says she’s not letting anyone stand in her way anymore, and then Daria Rae walks out calling her horribly mediocre. And…well…she ain’t lying. Daria tells her to go back to catering after getting back in the ring and tells her to stop disrespecting her. They…actually got the Diarrhea 2nd grader joke over for the crowd to chant. Indi challenges her and Daria says “IF” she were to fight her, she’d kick her ass back to kangaroo land. Indi takes a shot at Daria’s in ring career being a failure. The promo went from cringe, to decent. Daria moves and Zoey Stark attacks Indi. Zoey leaves her laying with her Opposite Leg GTS thing, and Zoey Serrano is official.

TNA Tag Team Titles: The Nemeths (c) vs Ricky Sosa & Leon Slater

Leon and Nic start, Nic plays keep away for a few seconds before tagging out to Ryan. Ryan tries to get smug but gets kicked in the face and eats a Back Hand Spring Elbow. 10 Count Punches and Ryan is in Lala Land. Leon tags in Ricky, Tandem Hip Toss into a Senton from Sosa but a kick out. Sosa looking Snake Eyes but Ryan slips and tags out to Nic. Nic walks in slow and cocky, goes for 4 Arm Wringers on the taped up arm, into a Hammerlock, but Sosa is wrestling his way out of most of it. Ricky hits a Shoulder Block, catches Nic mid Leap Frog, Scoop Slam and an Okada Dropkick rocks Nic. Sosa follows but Nic picks his spot to hit the Elbow, Eye poke and punch as he tags in Ryan. Ryan tries to fight through it, but a Dropkick keeps Ryan off balance, tags in Leon, and quick shots, Yakuza Kick into a Crossbody, but Nic has to make the save. Leon comes off the Rebound Waterwheel Kick, then Kicks Nic to the outside. Leon hits Utopia on Ryan, but Ryan barely kicks out.

Ryan powders to Nic, Nic is begging off and calling for a timeout. They’re huddling, and Leon is letting them have their moment to recover. Leon doesn’t get faked out and goes after Ryan since he’s the legal man. Wrist Control Knife Edge Chops. Leon shoves Ryan into the babyface corner, tags in Sosa and Sosa hits a Double Chop into a near fall. Sosa keeps Ryan isolated, quick tags, Arm Breaker spot, but Ryan manages to poke Leon in the eyes and tag in Nic. Nic works him over with some fists, a Stomp and choke, tag to Ryan, and Ryan hits the Shoulder Tackle in the corner, but Leon manages to create a flash Cradle for a 2 count. Leon tags out to Sosa, Double Stomp and Ryan is dazed. Leon Scoop Slams Ryan, Nic tries to cut off Leon, but Leon fights him off, then misses the spot and looks like he tweaked his knee. Nic with a cocky Irish Whip and an arrogant pinfall, then chokes Leon on the ropes while Ryan takes a cheap shot. Leon tries to fight off Nic, but Nic grabs him and kicks the tweaked knee to stop the tag. Ryan tags in, Rude Awakening and a two count. Ryan keeps control, tags out to Nic and Nic runs Leon’s face across the ropes after big body shots and tags Ryan back in.

Too much showboating costs Ryan as he eats a Dropkick to the mouth. Nic tags in and tries to stop the tag, but the Reverse Kick gives Leon the chance to tag out. Ryan tries to cut off Sosa, Sosa takes out Ryan, hits a Lionsault on Nic for a close two count. Sosa wants something but Nic slips it, Roll-Up for only two. Final Cut from Sosa, but Nic kicks out. Ryan tries to attack Sosa, but Sosa takes out Ryan, Leaping DDT from Nic, and a near fall! Tuning up the band…Sosa grabs the foot, Blue Thunder Bang! Sosa tags out to Leon for the Swanton! SWANTON 450! Ryan pulls Leon out of the ring! Sosa flies off the rope and catches Nic with an Springboard RKO after Leon tags out. Sosa wants to end it, but Ryan grabs the foot to stop the Headshot. Leon jumps the corner, but Sosa walks into a Superkick! 1-2-kick! FameASSer gets turned into a Stacked Powerbomb! 1-2-Nic barely kicks out!

Nic counters the Headshot with Danger Zone! The Kaibas retain!

Overall Score: 7.75/10

Well damn, even the worst match was watchable and probably plays into some larger story. Indi’s promo segment started rough but it got there and Zoey’s debut looked good. Elayna I’m still not sold on her turn, but pushing a narrative about her being humbled is believable enough. Avery and Kaz is an interesting situation, because there’s definitely a shot that Kaz is trying to look after his “nephew”, and it could be what they tried to do with Bully Ray a few years ago when no one believed that he was trying to be a decent person. Kaz will probably continue to be a snake, but they can believably turn him with Avery’s help.

Now the matches, Hotch is their new Ace, he has to be. The kid looks good, wrestles great, emotes and sells well, understands psychology…he’s a star. His whole angle with Ali is fantastic and proves that Ali deserves a main title push soon also. The KO TV Finals, started off a little clunky but became one hell of a match by the end. Maggie is wonderful…now we just need to get her away from the Elegance Brand. Then the main event…just wow. Two great matches on the same night. Given that we have about 6 more weeks of build for Bound For Glory, this actually starts off the angle hot and sets the bar for how good the whole program could be. Sosa proved he can already hang with the main event, Leon is probably on his way out, but this was a clever enough way to use his remaining time.

I…don’t really have any notes beyond I really hope the person attacking people isn’t Matt Hardy. The tag division is already in shambles, we don’t need to break up the biggest thing TNA has going for it right now.
