Attitude Of Aggression: WWE For The Week Plus NXT Takeover Philly!

Royal Rumble weekend is in full swing but before we get there we have NXT Takeover: Philadelphia to discuss. Episode 214 has a special focus on the first Takeover of 2018 while also setting the table for the Royal Rumble on the Smackdown Live side of the ledger.

We begin by recapping Smackdown Live. Taking place the night after Raw 25, the odd relationship between Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn continued to evolve, much t0 the chagrin of the WWE Champ AJ Styles. Whjat does it all mean? Tune in to Episode 214 to get our thoughts.Meanwhile, Shinsuke Nakamura and Baron Corbin received RKOs outta nowhere, Charlotte continued to sound arrogant, and Chad Gable looked very impressive in his match against Jey Uso. The table has now been set for the Royal Rumble and we let you know our thoughts on the Blue Brand as we head into the big event tomorrow.

The MIxed/Match Challenge this week saw The MIz and Asuka advance by defeating Carmella and Big E. In the wake of the Enzo Amore controversy, 205 Live found itself without a champion, but with a GM going to be named next week. With opportunity the operative word, the Cruiserweights really delivered on this episode including a lights out match between Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali. We give you all the details here on Episode 214.\

We then shift the focus squarely on to NXT. We first recap the go-home episode of NXT this past week, headlined by Johnny Gargano putting his title shot on the line against The Velveteen Dream. In a classic contest, Johnny Wrestling prevailed and captured a lot of momentum heading into Philadelphia. It is then time for our NXT Takeover: Philadelphia Preview Show as Big Dave and Ol’ Gator run down the card and give you their “expert” picks. Can The Velveteen Dream beat Kassius Ohno? Will Adam Cole fade to black against Aleister Black? Will the Authors of Pain join The Revival as the only two time Tag Champs in NXT history? Will Shayna Bazler eclipse Ember Moon’s NXT Women’s Title reign? And can Johnny Wrestling break through in the biggest way possible and defeat Andrade “Cien” Almas and win the NXT title? The NBA Finals will feature a matchup that few likely would have predicted at the beginning of the season, as the Indiana Pacers will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder for the NBA Championship. OKC seeks to cap off what some are calling the greatest rebuild of all time, and the only thing standing in their way is a powerful Indiana Pacers squad. One team will capture its first-ever NBA Title when all is said and done. Meanwhile, the Stanley Cup Finals are also set, and we are getting a rematch of last year’s epic seven-game tilt as the Florida Panthers will once again do battle with the Edmonton Oilers. The Panthers are seeking to become just the second team to win back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in the past 27 years. Edmonton, on the other hand, seeks to end Canada’s long national nightmare and bring the Cup back to Canada for the first time since 1993!.The guys will break it all down for you on this week’s edition of the 4 Corners Podcast. This week, the Bandwagon is stripped down again as the dynamic duo of Dave and Tunney guide you through the week around the Nerdosphere. Netflix had its annual fan event and mega-preview party, Tudum. The event has become notorious for dumping a slew of trailers for almost all of Netflix’s upcoming projects for the next 9-12 months. This year was no exception, and we received trailers for eagerly anticipated projects like Frankenstein, Squid Game Season 3, Happy Gilmore 2, and the long-awaited announcement about Stranger Things Season 5, along with the release dates for the separate volumes of the final season. Amazon Prime, not wanting to be left out, dropped a trailer for Season 2 of Gen V. The guys then examine the significant drop in viewers for the season finale of The Last of Us and question whether the series could be at risk of cancellation. This fate befell another popular franchise as The Wheel of Time was canceled by Prime. Are there hidden similarities between the two shows that should concern fans of HBO Max’s most popular series of all time? As if HBO Max didn’t have enough problems, we’ve been informed that the three lead roles for the Harry Potter reboot have been cast. Do these kids stand a chance, or will they be crushed by the inevitable comparison to the original three actors from the movie franchise? In much better news, though, DC and Marvel Comics are on the verge of releasing the first crossover event in over 20 years. With the two comics’ super-powers working together, Dave and Tunney ponder what other crossovers they might want to see.
