Even when the story doesn’t place as much importance on it, winners and losers are as basic to wrestling as ring ropes and fans. But in this day and age, winning and losing in the ring doesn’t always translate to your standing on the card, how you are trending, and what’s on the horizon.

So who were the big winners for WWE Raw?

First off, let’s see who the actual match winners were:

• Braun Strowman defeats Kevin Owens to qualify for the Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match
• Baron Corbin & The Revival beat No Way Jose & Titus Worldwide in six-man tag team action
• Ember Moon pinned Ruby Riott to win a Women’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Triple Threat Match that also included Sasha Banks
• Jinder Mahal pinned Chad Gable
• Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre defeated Heath Slater & Rhyno
• Bobby Roode beat Elias
• Seth Rollins pinned Mojo Rawley to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship in an Open Challenge
• Raw Tag Team Champions Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt beat Bo Dallas & Curt Axel
• Finn Balor pinned Sami Zayn to win a Men’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Triple Threat Match that also included Roman Reigns

Match winners be-damned, here are the TRUE winners of the May 7^th edition of WWE Monday Night Raw!

Braun Strowman

It was more of the same for Braun Strowman this week, and the same is winning. This time around it was a Money in The Bank Ladder Match qualifier against Kevin Owens, but that follows up on this Backlash tag team win… Greatest Royal Rumble win… single-handed defeat of The Bar at WrestleMania… you name it, Braun has won it. This was more of the same, which is why it’s a small victory.

Kevin Owens

On the flip side, you have Kevin Owens, as big of a winner as Braun tonight. I know—he lost—but he did so in such a fashion that mattered. Kevin Owens put up more of a fight against Braun Strowman than anyone not named Roman Reigns, and that includes a tag team in The Bar.

Ember Moon

Ember Moon is riding the main roster debut wave of momentum, but that is a strong wave to ride. She was victorious in a match against Ruby Riott (and her Squad) and multiple time women’s champion Sasha Banks. Ember is headed into Money In The Bank for the first time, and she has to have some support to actually win the match.

Jinder Mahal

Jinder just might be a beneficiary of circumstance with this one. Roman Reigns is still not getting the face reaction that WWE wants (which is stupid, embrace the hate), and Jinder Mahal is a heat magnet. Reigns vs. Lesnar is a match made in heaven for WWE, but it’s essentially heel vs heel.

But for Jinder Mahal himself, this is a huge win. He’s involved in a program with the biggest star in the company, he’ll be main eventing houses all over the country/world, and he’ll have plenty of material to work with.

And the biggest winner for the May 7 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw? It’s the new Mr. Monday Night himself!

Seth Rolllins

Seth Rollins has everything you want in a major star. He’s got the look, he can deliver in the ring, and he can deliver on the microphone. He excels as both a face and a heel. And at 31 years old, he’s at the peak of his career.

Last night on Raw, Seth Rollins showed once again that he has all the support of the fans, leading me to finally say he should be a face and not a heel. But then he did something amazing: he delivered a stellar match with Mojo Rawley.

MOJO RAWLEY.

It’s fair to call Mojo’s in-ring ability underrated, as he’s come a long way. But this was the best Mojo Rawley match I have ever seen. That’s what happens when you have the greatest dance partner in the world.

The man has a “Monday Night Rollins” shirt for a reason, he might be the star Raw needs right now, and he’s officially (in my mind) the best in the world.
