2. Rain

There’s something about rain that makes everybody gloomy. People just don’t seem as happy when it’s grey out and there’s rain falling from the sky. Sure, Shirley Manson is only happy when it rains, but I’ve always been a bit down in the dumps when I look outside & don’t see the sun.

Rain has been a bitter heel for most of her career. It’s fair to say that she had a negative outlook regarding her opposition. Her victories would come as a letdown to fans hoping that her perky, more friendly opposition would emerge victorious. In many ways, you could say that Rain was the opposite of Sunny. I wonder if her desire to be a wrestler instead of a performer like Sunny helped inspire the name.

Honorable Mention: Lance T. Storm

Watching Lance Storm matches never really made me think about weather, except when he had a short-lived tag team with the person at #1. Early in his career though, Storm was all about the weather. When he first debuted in the Calgary…Alberta, Canada area, Lance had a middle initial. T. For Thunder. Get it? Hahahahahahahahaha.

This was an early sign that Lance’s sense of humor wasn’t exactly the best.

How can I leave the guy who MAKES RAIN off of this list?

1. The Hurricane

WCW had big plans for “Sugar” Shane Helms. They took him out of 3 Count & pushed him to the top of the cruiserweight division with the Nitro Girls as part of his entrance. It was easy to see him becoming one of the future top stars of the company. Then they got bought by the WWF & Helms’ career went a completely different direction. After a bland debut as Gregory Helms, he was repackaged into a delusional superhero character calling himself “The Hurricane”. The fans loved it, and Helms was pushed up and down the card for years as one of WWE’s go-tos for comic relief.

Helms never became the top-tier guy he showed flashes of in WCW, but he found a way to make himself relevant by putting everything he had into what he was given.
