With the likes of Tama Tonga, Chris Jericho and Becky Lynch using social media to further angles, Scott looks into Velveteen Dream’s recent posts.

The Velveteen Dream has been a constant presence on NXT Takeover events ever since his match of the year candidate against Aleister Black at Takeover War Games.

While some matches have been better than others Dream always leaves people talking about his match. While the match with EC3 may not have been the best match people were talking about his gear. He followed that up with another great performance at Takeover War Games 2 against Ciampa for the NXT title, but, Dream does not have a match for Takeover Phoenix this Saturday.

To give more context as to why this is unusual the last takeover that didn’t feature The Dream was Takeover Brooklyn 3. This was back when Asuka was still Women’s champion.

Dream was on NXT this week staking his claim to the NXT North American championship. He would go on to be confronted by the Undisputed Era before defeating Bobby fish in a match later in the night. It could be Dream will confront the winner of Gargano vs Ricochet and that his not being on the card is a case of not having anything for him yet.

On the other hand the timing is a bit suspect for me. Given we’re just days away from the Royal Rumble a show known for surprises. There’s also this tweet the Dream sent out a few days ago.

He seems to teasing that he’s frustrated with not being on TV and is teasing a surprise appearance in the men’s Rumble match. It would be a great surprise if he did show up but if he does I have a feeling it would be a one off and not an official call up. Much like Adam Cole last year. If it wasn’t for what happened on NXT this week I would have put money on the Dream being in the Rumble. No I think we’re being worked into think Dream is going one way before he ultimately goes another.

This could be teasing him staying in NXT before going up or more likely teasing going up before revealing he’s staying in NXT. The latter is something that Balor would do for months before his official call up.

While Dream in many people’s eyes seems like hes ready for the main roster a few more months of fine tuning given how young he still is wouldn’t hurt. Also after this week the idea of him winning the North American title Mania weekend is just too good.

It would be a shame if he went his whole time in NXT and didn’t hold a title. Even if he only held it for a few months at least having the visual of him with the title around his waist as he makes one of his famous entrances.
