Chris King shares his thoughts on Tommaso Ciampa missing in action while NXT breaks barriers on the USA Network.

For two weeks now NXT has been delivering A+ matches on the USA Network such as Roderick Strong beating The Velveteen Dream for the North American Championship, and Keith Lee and Dominic Dijokovac defying the laws of gravity. No matter how many explosive encounters that are announced, nothing will take the place of The Greatest Sports Entertainer Of All Time Tommaso Ciampa.

For nearly two years, NXT was taken by storm by the beautiful and painful rivalry of Ciampa and Johnny Gargano known as the fairytale story. The NXT Universe was shocked by the horrific actions of the former DIY partners while they tear each other apart.  At first, the story was all about retribution for Ciampa’s despicable turn on Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Chicago until Ciampa became the most-hated NXT Champion in company history.

Ciampa couldn’t remain NXT Champion forever as he would be forced to relinquish the title due to severe spinal surgery. The Greatest Sports Entertainer Of All Time wouldn’t allow his injury to keep him from celebrating his long-time friend and rival Gargano after he won the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: New York.

Ciampa would fade away back into the shadows grinding and recuperating to make his long-awaited return to the black and gold brand that he helped elevate. The former NXT champion began stalking the new holder of the title The Undisputed Era’s leader Adam Cole who was proclaiming to be the greatest NXT champion.

While the amazing roster of NXT is blowing the minds of their new viewers on the USA Network, Ciampa is anxiously waiting to return to action. Perhaps WWE is being silent on his incredible journey back, and next week we’ll see his long-awaited return following the NXT Championship between Matt Riddle and Cole.

This would be the perfect opportunity for Ciampa to come back with a vengeance since The Undisputed Era holds all the gold and feel completely untouchable at the moment. Cole versus Ciampa for the NXT Championship in a Wargames Match at the next TakeOver would be a fantastic main event!
