205 Live welcomes back some almost Breakout stars!

Carmelo Hayes won the whole thing, but the title chase is never over! Will the Cruiserweight Champion have a contender out of tonight’s crop?

MY REPORT

I’m kinda surprising myself right now, bothering with 205 Live anymore. I did consider trying Play By Play for this, but even just thinking about it made my arms feel weak. So between my health and the current decline of the purple ‘n’ orange brand, even just this half hour show seems like a little too much for me to be doing. But I am still holding out hope that NXT, what with its own problems of dealing with the Vince mandates of a new logo, new look, etc., can find a way to make 205 Live still work for the sake of the Cruiserweight Division.

That all said, we got some fresh match ups at least with baller Grayson Waller and “the number one seed” Andre Chase, as well as handsome Ikemen Jiro taking on #AllHeart (second to Johnny Gargano) Trey Baxter. Oh and Maverick on commentary! It makes sense since he’s back as a superstar and not a GM, so of course he’d use this chance to scout. Waller and Chase had a really good match that really showed their skillsets in this rare Heel VS Heel type match. They both got to really show some toughness, as well, and in the end, it works for Waller to win. He said he didn’t need the Breakout Tournament, and he proved it by winning over someone who was in that tournament.

Jiro VS Baxter was also a unique Face VS Face friendly, and a great main event. Jiro using a jacket flair was a really unique way of getting out of a hold, for one, as was Jiro’s trapped arm, stump puller combo cover. It makes sense Jiro wins, as he’s been on quite the hot streak in the Cruiserweight Division. Plus, Baxter is still pretty new, he might be “paying his dues” still before he gets that great first win. But these two are definitely guys WWE can use to help get 205 Live back up, as fans would love to see the stuff they can do. If Carmelo Hayes doesn’t choose the Cruiserweight title for his Breakout reward, Kushida VS Jiro could be a lot of fun.
