Cody Rhodes is here!

The NXT Universe is all fired up for the American Nightmare’s first appearance here on Tuesdays, and they’re singing along with his song like it’s karaoke, “WHOA~ OH~!” One half of the NEW Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions fist bumps and high-fives the front row as he goes to the ring. Cody gets a mic while the fans chant his name, and he has a big smile on his face. Then they chant “YEET!” so Cody echoes, “YEET. So NXT Universe… Whaddya wanna talk about?” Fans fires up and they chant “YEET! YEET! YEET!” Cody says he’d be lying if he said he ever pictured himself standing in this ring.

But now that he is… Something feels right. Fans cheer that! This is the Rhodes, Florida, blood spilt all over this state, and it is in the vein of gratitude that Cody cuts to it, he indeed has an announcement. Actually, announcements. We have all been enjoying the Women’s Breakout Tournament, eight of them in single elimination, who will be the next Tiffany Stratton? The next Rhea Ripley? And at the conclusion of that tournament, the men will have their Breakout Tournament. And Cody has kept hearing, as soon as people found out he’d be here, there was a certain tag team tournament… Fans fire up with chants of “DUSTY! DUSTY!”

Cody says it sounds like they want that. “YES!” Well then… That’s good because the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is also coming back. Fans cheer that but that’s not all! One more thing! On perhaps the biggest night in NXT history, Cody has the honor and privilege on behalf of Shawn Michaels. Tonight, Cody is the special guest General Manager for NXT! Fans are loving all this, and then here comes Ilja Dragunov! The NXT Champion, the Mad Dragon, makes his way to the ring to stand face to face with Cody. Dragunov smiles as fans chant “Happy Birthday!” Dragunov tells Cody his apologies for interrupting, but he couldn’t pass up the chance to welcome Cody to N X T!

These announcements bring hope to the future of the brand. They create excitement! They breathe life into NXT! But besides that, Dragunov simply wanted to meet a man, this man, Cody Rhodes! The man who brings this passion, who brings this energy, who brings the will to suffer for the entire WWE Universe! Cody is a man who fights with fire, and pushes everything he does to the next level. This is something Dragunov strives to do. Something he promises to do! He vows to push NXT to the next level with a fire that only the Mad Dragon can bring! But wait, the Judgment Day is here…

Fans boo as Dominik Mysterio & Rhea Ripley make their way out, and Dom says these two are really out here patting each other on the back. Fans boo as hard as they can as Dom says the WWE fans is here to see the greatest superstar this brand has to offer, HIM! Fans chant “YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK!” Dom says Dragunov may be NXT Champion, but he doesn’t compare to Dom, “The One and Only TRUE Double A Champion.” Fans chant “WHOOP DAT TRICK!” Dom says if Dragunov wants to feel some energy, ask him about how every time Judgment Day left Cody laying.

Dragunov says he is not surprised Dom came out here to talk when nobody in this entire arena wants to listen to his voice! By the way, Dragunov’s dad used to work in a prison. So Dragunov knows exactly how to turn a barking dog into a sweet little puppy. Dom asks if he hurt “Lil’ Ilja.” Rhea whispers something, and then Cody whispers something to Dragunov. Dom says if Dragunov wants to be like Cody, put his title on the line against Dom! Then we’ll see if Dragunov is half the man he says he is. Cody speaks up. So Dom isn’t willing to put his title up then? Rhea takes the mic to say Dom has been carrying the whole of WWE this entire year!

Dom just won the NXT North American Championship again! So Rhea doesn’t- Dragunov tells “Dom Dom” to listen. This is a day of celebration! As a gift to Dragunov himself, he can’t imagine anything better than eating Dom alive in the ring! And Rhea… Darling, Dragunov is gonna smash your boy! HA! Cody will take it from here. He is special guest GM, so guess what? That match for THE NXT Championship is official! Fans fire up and Dragunov is ready! But here’s the issue. Knowing what we know about Judgment Day, the numbers game and such, we need a special guest referee. No, it won’t be Cody. It will be the hottest star in WWE, L A KNIGHT!

Fans are exploding for how this night got even bigger! Will the Mega Star put Dirty Dom in his place?

Roxanne Perez VS Asuka!

The Prodigy, the original Women’s Breakout Tournament winner, has run afoul of Kiana James, and so Kiana wrote a fat check to the Empress of Tomorrow! Will Roxie find out she’s not ready for Asuka?

But wait! Shotzi is here!? What’s the Wild Child doing back in NXT? At least she brought the tank. Shotzi jumps on commentary, the bell rings, and Asuka circles with Roxie. Asuka and Shotzi both get a “Welcome Back!” chant, then Asuka and Roxie tie up. Asuka wrenches, but Roxie rolls, wrenches and hammerlocks. Asuka spins it around to fireman’s carry takeover and she has the cording hold. Roxie moves around, headscissors, Asuka kips free and Roxie avoids the roundhouse! Asuka smiles and resets with Roxie. Fans rally up, they tie up, and Roxie waistlocks while Shotzi announces she’s hosting this year’s Halloween Havoc!

Asuka and Roxie go around, Roxie headlocks but Asuka powers out. They RAM shoulders, then Roxie shoves Asuka. Asuka shoves Roxie, so Roxie SLAPS Asuka! Asuka grins but fans tell Roxie she messed up. Roxie bobs ‘n’ weaves, ducks ‘n’ dodges and she FLYING SHOULDER TACKLES! Asuka bails out but Roxie runs, into a forearm! Fans rally up, Asuka hurries back in as Roxie staggers around, and Asuka goes up. MISSILE DROPKICK! Cover, TWO! Asuka keeps her cool and she pie faces Roxie around. Roxie gets up to fire a forearm! Asuka SOBATS back! And Kawada Kicks! Asuka then TOSSES Roxie to a corner!

Asuka runs corner to corner to ELBOW Roxie! Asuka digs her boot in, the ref counts, and Asuka lets off. Roxie flounders, Asuka clamps onto the arm and fans rally and duel. Roxie endures, fights up, but Asuka wrenches. Roxie ROCKS Asuka! But Asuka cranks the arm! And then throws Roxie by her hair! Asuka kicks Roxie around, scuffs her, but Roxie gets mad. Roxie eggs Asuka on, Asuka kicks more but Roxie blocks one! Roxie spins Asuka and ROCKS her again! And again! Asuka eggs Roxie on so Roxie fires windmill haymakers! Roxie runs, but Asuka dodges, but so does Roxie! SHOTGUN DROPKICK!

Asuka rushes in but Roxie wrenches and clinches, RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP! Asuka bails out, fans rally up, and Roxie builds speed. Roxie DIVES and down goes Asuka! Roxie goes for ropes but Asuka spins her to SOBAT, FRONT KICK, URAKEN, HEEL KICK!! Fans fire up with Asuka and she BUZZSAWS Roxie down! Cover, Asuka wins!

Winner: Asuka, by pinfall

The Empress has never lost in NXT and perhaps she never will! But  how much did she make doing Kiana’s dirty work? Will Roxie make Kiana put her money where her mouth is and step up herself? Wait speaking of, Kiana runs in! But Shotzi intercepts! And she fires off, to then hit the FISHERMAN DDT! Kiana bails out and Shotzi helps Roxie up, will the hostess of Halloween Havoc have something already in the works?

Gallus gets fired up backstage!

Joe Coffey is banging around with his shillelagh, and he asks if Mark is ready for this! He’s ready! Is Wolfgang ready? YES! Then they will show them who they are! Gallus storms out, ready for the Pub Fight!

The Brawling Brutes talk backstage.

Pete Dunne makes sure Tyler Bate understands that he needs the Tyler Bate he battled all over Europe with! The Big Strong Boi that he tore down the house with in Chicago! Is he ready? Ready! Gallus waves the Scottish flag, then they beat down the Brits more. They shove Bate into the ring, and SMACK him off the apron! And again! Then they BLAST him with the extinguisher! Mark DECKS Bate, Wolfgang drags him back up, and they mug him while clawing at the eyes! The ref can only reprimand, there’s no stopping this as Joe whips Bate into a corner! And whips him again! Bate brought out that British Strong Style and it saw his team through! Will he, the Bruiserweight and Yorkshire Grit look to take over NXT together?

Dublin, Ireland. A city that has given rise to fighters.

But two women from this fair city will clash for the very first time. Becky Lynch, one of the most decorated women in WWE history, will face a woman seen as her protege and successor, Lyra Valkyria. Becky blazed a trail like never seen before, and is an 8 time champion. Then Lyra embarked almost a decade later, following her role model’s footsteps. Two women from the same island with the same dream only met once before in December of 2018, but they are very much one in the same. It is as if, when looking at each other, they can see the past and future at the same time.

October 24th, night one of Halloween Havoc, it won’t be about any of that, but about the present. Words like admiration, respect and rivalry will be put aside. Only one can be champion, so will it be The Morrigan or The Man?

Backstage interview with Lyra Valkyria.

McKenzie Mitchell is with the #1 contender and says we just saw how significant this coming title match is, but what does it mean to her? Lyra says seeing that footage- Wait, Tegan Nox walks! And she congratulates Lyra on that match last week. that was incredible. Thanks, Nox! And hard luck on Raw last night, that match couldv’e gone either way. Yeah, that’s what Nox is here for. She was seconds away from winning, and she knows what it takes, so not to do this to her but Lyra’s match has to wait. Wait, Lyra has to wait? Well, must be nice living in Tegan Land. Lyra worked her entire career for this opportunity. Sorry Nox couldn’t get the job done last night.

Halloween Havoc is the biggest match in Lyra’s career, and she will not let anyone get in the way of it. Lyra heads out, will Nox be the one who has to wait her turn?

John Cena is here!

Fans fire up as the Greatest of All Time finally comes to NXT! Cena says that is the most street cred he’s gotten the last 15 years. He thanks the fans so much for that. The fans chant his name and Cena says that everyone talks about NXT being the future. Guess they can’t see they’re making history here tonight! Cody Rhodes as GM! LA Knight as a ref! We turned this place into a pub, and Cena’s waiting on his pint. And then the fans sang Cena’s theme song! That is what makes NXT great! It is each and every one here, and the action that happens in the ring. Fans chant for “NXT! NXT!” and Cena says to be here is like nothing else, and this is long overdue.

Cena is honored to be allowed to even share space with them tonight, so he thanks them so much. And he’s not alone! He’s not unique! It’s why LA Knight is here, it’s why Cody is here. Fans chant “THANK YOU, CENA!” and like one guy says “CENA SUCKS!” but Cena respects the honesty. Gratitude is also a core value. He thanks the fans for making the environment so many top stars want to visit! There’s a list of others kicking down the doors! And why? Yes, they are SmackDown, and yes, they are Raw. But yes, they are N X T! So when Melo called, Cena couldn’t say yes fast enough! They share hustle, loyalty, respect.

Melo works hard, doesn’t give up, is loyal to his friends, and Cena respects Melo for letting him come here for the match against Bron Breakker. But speaking of, here comes Bron! Fans chant “BRON BREAKKER SUCKS~!” and Cena says this is turning into a karaoke bar in a dog pound. Bron gets in the ring and Cena says he used to hear this tune. So much cooler when it’s about someone else. Bron says it’s good to see Cena, thanks for coming. But it is a big night for NXT and the WWE, huh? But Bron wants to give Cena a little factoid: These people didn’t come here to see Cena. They came here to see BRON!

Fans boo, that is not true. But Bron says Cena has them all fooled, like Melo actually has a chance of beating Badass Bron, just because he has the Greatest of All Time in his corner. Cena says the fans know the business is in Bron’s blood. And we can see in that tank top that Bron is athletically gifted. But we also all know Bron’s glaring weakness is his attitude. Bron lacks respect. Cena wasn’t here to run Bron down, but now that he’s here… This is a teachable moment. Cena is excited for the match tonight, and is here to respectfully wish Bron good luck. Cena offers a handshake, and Bron THROWS A SUCKER PUNCH!

Fans boo as Bron then aims at Cena from the corner. Cena gets up, but dodges the spear! To then fireman’s carry! But Bron slips free and runs away! Cena puts Bron on notice, but will Cena leave humbling Bron… to HIM?

Cody Rhodes runs across Tony D’Angelo & Channing Lorenzo.

Cody shakes hands with the NXT Tag Team Champions, and The Don wants Cody to hear them out. They have a bit of a problem. A problem, they say? Well, Cody is special guest GM, so what can he do for them? Stacks says they want challengers, and since Cody is GM, they wanna suggest their solution. Tony says they can get a whole mess of teams, then ding ding, they go at it. Bodies fly, bye, see ya later. Then we get down to just two teams, the bell rings again, now it’s a 2v2! Then there is a definitive winner, bada bing, bada boom, new #1 contenders. What’s he say?

Well, Cody is from Georgia so… Okay, okay, Stacks puts it in more detailed terms. First, a 10 Team Over the Top Rope Battle Royal. A partner gets eliminated, too bad, the whole team is gone. And then, we get to those two teams, that becomes a standard tag team match, the winners challenging Tony & Stacks for Halloween Havoc. What’s he think? Whoa… Cody says cherry on top. He likes it! Reminds him of some crazy concepts Dusty used to come up with. We put that on the books for next week, and let’s just call it like it is: The Bada Bing, Bada Boom Battle Royal! Tony loves it! But which team will come out on top ready to trick-or-treat with the D’Angelos?

Backstage interview with Baron Corbin.

McKenzie is with Mr. No BS as he requested this time, what’s on his mind? Corbin says it is pretty obvious. Our new NXT Champion is talking about taking a title and turning it into incomparable passion. What the hell does that even mean? Then he accepts a match with Dom, a match he knows he can win. What is Dragunov hiding? What is Dragunov up top? Padding his record by racking up wins to make him look better than he is? Corbin knows a thing or two about a thing or two. Dragunov’s phony intensity doesn’t fool Corbin. Dragunov is ducking him.

Dragunov saw Corbin at No Mercy absolutely destroy Bron Breakker, and knows that outside of Melo “surviving,” Corbin is the only man that has put him down. And that scares Dragunov. So Dragunov isn’t giving the guy who deserves a title match the title match. Corbin thought Dragunov was gonna be better than Melo, but everyone here is all the same. And then LA Knight’s theme hits to cut him off! Corbin leaves, but is he going to make his opinion known one way or another?

NXT Championship, Special Guest Referee LA Knight: Ilja Dragunov VS Dominik Mysterio w/ Rhea Ripley!

This match may have been made on short notice, but the Czar of NXT never shies away from a fight. And when it comes to ruining the fun and taking titles, the Judgment Day never says no to that! But there’s on man who can keep this match down the middle, YEAH! Will the Mega Ref make sure this is done fair and square? Or can Dirty Dom still lie, cheat and steal the top spot away from Dragunov?

The introductions are made, the top title is raised, and we see whose NXT it is!

The bell rings and Dragunov circles with Dom. Fans “YEAH! YEAH!” as they tie up, and Dragunov SLAMS Dom down! Dragunov headlocks to grind Dom, but Dom fights around. Dragunov cording holds, then he judo hip tosses! Cover, Knight is ready, but Dom is up before a count. Dom fights around, Dragunov scoops to SLAM him! Dragunov eggs Dom on but Dom wants as timeout. Knight does his job by having Dragunov stay back. Dom returns slowly, circles with Dragunov, and they tie up. Dom waistlocks, headlocks, but Dragunov puts him on ropes, to then THROW him down! Cover, ONE!

Dom gets up, Dragunov facelocks, but Dom throws body shots. Dom RAMS Dragunov into the corner, Knight reprimands, and Dom lets off. Dom ROCKS Dragunov with a right, Dom stalks him to a corner and Knight counts. Dom throws hands but Dragunov CHOPS him down! And SENTONS! Fans cheer and Dragunov runs up to CHOP again! Dom sputters, Dragunov CHOPS him again! And then waistlocks to GERMAN SUPLEX! Dragunov holds on and Rhea freaks out, but Dragunov hits another GERMAN SUPLEX! Dragunov drags Dom up, Rhea distracts Knight, and Dom claws Dragunov’s eyes!

Fans boo as Knight  misses that but he warns Rhea. Dom drags Dragunov up to throw into ropes! Dragunov sputters and flops out of the ring, but knight has Rhea back off. Fans boo as NXT goes picture in picture.

Knight warns Rhea, checks on Dragunov, and Dragunov is still in this. Dom goes out to fetch Dragunov, then SMACKS him off the desk! Knight counts, Dom puts Dragunov in the ring, and then soaks up the heat. Dom stomps Dragunov at the ropes, ROCKS him with a right, and has Dragunov in a corner. Dom whips corner to corner hard and Dragunov falls! Dom soaks up the heat, stalks Dragunov, then brings him up. Dragunov CHOPS! But Dom kicks him down! Dom stomps Dragunov, clamps on a chinlock, and he grinds Dragunov down while Rhea lounges on the apron. Dragunov endures and Knight tells Rhea to stop playing around.

Dragunov fights up with Dom as a backpack, to then TOSS him off! Dom storms up to stomp Dragunov in the corner, then springboard stomps! Dom’s learned well from Finn, but Dragunov kicks from below. Dom stomps Dragunov more, has him in another corner and he stomps away! Knight counts, Dom lets off, and then Dom drags Dragunov up. Dom gives us Latino Heat, reels Dragunov in, and hits Uno Amigo as NXT returns to single picture! Dom brings Dragunov up, Dos Amigos! Dom stands up again, but Dragunov hooks a leg! Dom CLUBS away on Dragunov, suplexes, but Dragunov slips free to waistlock!

Dom fires elbows to fight free, then he ROCKS Dragunov! But Dragunov PELES! Both men are down and fans chant “YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!” Dragunov waistlocks, Dom fights again, and he switches to shove. Dragunov hits the CONSTANTINE SPECIAL! Fans fire up and Dragunov feeds off the energy! Dragunov CHOPS away on Dom in the corner! Knight counts, Dragunov lets off to waistlock, and GERMAN SUPLEX! Dragunov drags Dom up again, for another GERMAN SUPLEX! Dom shouts for Rhea but Dragunov has him up again. Knight won’t let Mami reach out for Papi, and Dragunov Gotch lifts for the SINGLE LEG SUPLEX!

Fans fire up while both men are down! Knight checks, they’re okay to continue, and Dragunov rises first! Dragunov stalks Dom to a corner, to CHOP! And forearm! And CHOP! And forearm! Dragunov bumps Dom off buckles, CHOPS him again, and again, then fires off forearms! Knight reprimands and counts, but fans fire up with Dragunov! Dragunov TOSSES Dom, but Dom dodges to CHOP! Even Rhea is stinging but she loves it! However, Dragunov just glares at Dom and the fans tell him he messed up! Dragunov ROCKS Dom with forearm after forearm after forearm and he backs Dom down!

Dragunov has Dom in a corner, to MACHINE GUN CHOP!! Dom sits down but Dragunov still fires off! Fans are loving this as Dragunov hauls Dom up. Dragunov reels Dom in, hoists him up, btu Dom fights the bomb! Dom SUPERKICKS, then DROPKICKS Dragunov onto ropes! Fans boo as Dom dials it up, but Dragunov ducks the 619! TO BOOT! Dragunov keeps moving, CONSTANTINE- NO, Dom trips Dragunov to then CATAPULT him onto ropes! Dom redials, 619!! Dragunov falls, Dom hurries and covers, TWO!! Dragunov survives and shocks Rhea! Dom goes to a corner, gives some Latino Heat, then climbs.

But Dragunov stands and that scares Dom! Dragunov ROCKS Dom first! Dragunov climbs up after Dom, brings him in, and he hits a SUPERPLEX! Dragunov rolls through, staggers a bit, and even Dom rises up. But then Dom bails out! Dragunov storms over, Dom kicks him in the leg! And the chest! APRON DDT!! Dragunov flops into the ring and Dom hurries to hoist Dragunov up. But Dragunov wrenches free and KNEES low! Dragunov gets Dom up, POWERBOMB!! And H BOMB FOREARM!! Rhea is scared for Dom as Dragunov goes back to a corner. Fans are thunderous for “UN! BE! SIEG! BAR!”

But Finn Balor is here! Knight DECKS Finn off the apron, but now JD McDonagh runs in! Dragunov TOSSES him, and Knight hits B F T!! Knight TOSSES The Irish Ace, too! Mami swings, misses, and Trick yanks her down! Trick smiles as he has Mami in his arms, but she pushes him away! TORPEDO MOSCOW for Dom!!! Cover, Dragunov wins!!

Winner: Ilja Dragunov, by pinfall (still NXT Champion)

Mami can’t believe it, but Dragunov just whooped her boy! Fans thank Trick, but will Trick get himself a rematch with Dirty Dom?

But wait, here comes Baron Corbin. We just heard him insult Dragunov’s resolve, but then DIJAK BOOTS Dragunov down!! Hard Justice says that title will finally be his! Fans boo and Corbin is confused. Dijak glares at Corbin and says he beat Corbin to it. Will Corbin have to wait to burn down Dragunov’s ship with Dijak standing in his way?

John Cena talks with Carmelo Hayes backstage.

Melo appreciates Cena accepting the invitation and Cena thanks Melo for allowing him to be here. Melo apologizes for what Bron did but Cena says it’s fine, Melo can’t let Bron break his focus. But again, thanks for taking the call, and giving Melo that advice. Melo will bring that Ruthless Aggression to Bron. Trick walks in and introduces himself. he thanks Cena for being here. Melo apologizes to Trick about Judgment Day, but Trick says it’s not the time, they’re here with John Cena. Oh, Trick can see him? Kidding! Just easing the tensions. They’re friends, right? And superstars. They’ll both be champs again. Trick likes the sound of that.

Melo says with Cena by his side, he’ll take down Bron again. And then Melo will get his title again! And Trick will get back his title, too! Right, right. Cena says that’s what they both want, right? So then that’s all it is. And that’s all it’s gonna be! Melo heads out to change, and Cena asks if Trick is good. Yeah, he’s good. But question: when did Cena know it was his time? Hmm… Let’s talk. They go off another direction, what advice is Cena going to give Trick?

NXT Anonymous is watching.

And they spot Paul Heyman explaining to someone what “The Bloodline” means. It’s AVA RAINE!? Will she look to join her true family now that she’s not Schism?

Someone pulls into the parking lot.

It’s JADE CARGILL!! She shakes hands with HBK. He thanks her for coming, she appreciates him inviting her. What will happen now that the storm has come to NXT?

Cody Rhodes crosses paths with Baron Corbin.

Cody sighs and Corbin asks if he’s the man to talk to tonight. Yes, HBK made Cody the special guest GM. Then listen: Cody owes Corbin, so make the match. Wait, Cody owes Corbin? Yeah, the last time they met was in Brooklyn, Cody jumped him from behind and Corbin wants to wipe the slate clean. Well, Corbin did make a great case for himself as the last man to beat Dragunov. And Cody knows that because Corbin has told everyone in the building. Corbin sighs now, but tells Cody that when it is true, it is true. So make the match for Halloween Havoc. Well, what else is true is that Dijak swooped in and made a great case for himself, one-upping Corbin there.

Cody could even make a case for whoever wins between Melo and Bron tonight. No he can’t! Yes he can! But hey, relax. Corbin will get his match. Thanks! If… Corbin wins next week’s Triple Thread: Corbin VS Dijak VS the winner of Bron VS Melo. Corbin says so much for a clean slate. Corbin leaves and Cody says this job ain’t easy. But who will be joining that stacked contender’s match? We’ll see in the main event.

Dom & Rhea leave the trainer’s room.

Dom has an icepack on his chin as he asks where the respect is for the North American Championship. But Nathan Frazer says just because Dom got his ass beat doesn’t mean he can treat people like dirt. That’s a Hard-Hitting Home Truth, right? Axiom nods. Frazer says that’s a freakin’ massive one. Dom asks who the heck even is this guy, and Rhea says he’s not the NXT North American Champion, so he’s a nobody. Rhea & Dom leave, but Frazer says bye. Massive dorks… But clearly, the Judgment Day is only making more and more enemies, it is only a matter of time before Dom gets what he deserves?

NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament, Opening Round: Lola Vice w/ Elektra Lopez VS Dani Palmer!

The MMA Mamacita is ready to break through to the next level, but so is #DynamicDani. It’s already a big night for NXT, who has the better night by advancing to round two?

NXT returns and Dani makes her entrance. The bell rings and the two tie up. Lola full nelsons and she thrashes Dani! Dani slips free, ducks the roundhouse, and the two stand off. They tie up again, Dani goes for an arm, and Dani hits a double wristlock takedown. Dani headscissors, Lola powers up and powers out to a headlock of her own. Dani fights up, powers out, but Lola runs her over and gives a shimmy and shake. Things speed up, Lola turns hip toss into scoop but Dani turns that to a rana and victory roll! TWO, Lola ducks ‘n’ dodges but Dani hurdles! Dani grabs an arm, hits another takedown and has the headscissors.

Lola powers her way to her own headscissors and squeezes tight. Dani still kips free, then clinches. Lola headlocks, Dani powers out, but Lola runs her over! Things speed up, and Lola BOOTS the hurdle outta the sky! Lola drags Dani up, fires off strikes, and then runs to AX KICK Dani down! Cover, TWO! Dani survives but Lola just smiles. Lola brings Dani up, whips to a corner, and then runs to spin and SOBAT! Fans fire up as Lola shimmies and shakes and runs in, HIP ATTACK! Cover, ONE!! Another cover, TWO! Lola wraps on body scissors and she squeezes Dani tight! Dani endures, the NXT Watch Party is loving it!

Dani fights up, Lola is on her like a backpack, but Dani RAMS her into buckles! Dani ELBOWS Lola, dodges Lola, then goes up and up to CROSSBODY! Dani gets up, dodges a boot and Lola hobbles. Lola staggers and Dani rallies! SHOTGUN and kip up! Fans fire up, Dani runs to handspring SCORPION KICK! Lola is down and Dani goes up, to SKY TWIST- NO, she lands out as Lola moves! Dani ducks a kick, gives kicks, and even an UPPERCUT and MONGOLIAN CHOP! Dani hits DOUBLE KNEES and Lola falls! STANDING MOONSAULT into a TRIANGLE HOLD! Lola has Dani caught!

Dani fights, bridges to a cover, TWO!! Lola lets go in time and fans fire up, HEEL KICK!! Cover, Lola wins!

Winner: Lola Vice, by pinfall (advances to the next round)

The Breakout Tournament heats up with Lola bringing the Latina Heat! Will Lola break through even in the semifinals?

NXT checks in with Chase U.

Thea Hail shows up late, saying Jacy Jayne insisted she at least attend class. That’s great! But Thea agreed on the condition that Jacy joins her. Hope that’s okay, Mr. Chase, since they did so well last week. Chase allows it and Jacy sits with Thea. This week is about Halloween Havoc. Established in 1989, it is a unique concept from the mind of Dusty Rhodes. Jacy is bored, so she and Thea start chatting. Chase asks they hold on a second. Where was he? Philadelphia. Thanks, Duke. Philadelphia, the same city that hosts WrestleMania 40. This year, Halloween Havoc will be a two week special.

Jacy is still bored so she checks her phone. Oh look! And then the others notice the same update. What’s going on? David, wtf is so important? Kids today, with their phones and their screens and their social media! Nothing good comes from social media! And he SMASHES David’s phone against the wall! NEVER bring out another phone in his class again! Jacy laughs but Chase says everything was fine until she showed up! What’s so funny? Jacy’s just shocked at how excited he is for the big news. What big news? Chase & Duke are in the Bada Bing Bada Boom Tag Battle Royal! Oh, good things DO come from social media. Right, David? His phone…

Well, can we get a round of applause for the future #1 contenders? The class applauds and Duke says that’s right, that’s them! Jacy says this was so insightful. This year’s gonna be so much fun! They both smile, but then roll their eyes as they look away. Will Professor Chase & the Chase U MVP turn next week into a Teachable Moment?

Bron Breakker pumps up backstage.

And in steps Paul Heyman to say, “Bron…! Breakker!” They say wisdom comes with experience, and in all of Heyman’s experience, from working with Bron’s father and uncle, Bron has the best that both had to offer. But Heyman isn’t The Wise Man for remembering the past, no. He is the Wise Man for seeing the future. And the future is Bron…! Breakker…! in the main event of WrestleMania! The only thing standing in Bron’s way is Carmelo Hayes. Bron grins. He doesn’t care if it is Melo, Cena, or who else that stands in his way, he will break ’em all. Bron is fired up and Heyman is pleased. “Call Roman… Reigns.”

The mystery man again watches TV.

More second generation superstars, more NXT, and then… Brian Pillman? Deranged? Crazy? Unhinged? His father was one of the most infamous superstars in the business. But everywhere he goes, everyone tells him how much they loved his dad. They have such fond memories of him. But y’know who doesn’t? “His own damn son!” He lost Pillman at just four years old. And yet, you’d think becoming a WWE superstar just like him would be the last thing his son would want to be. And yeah, he tried and he tried and he tried, from football to lacrosse to a damn college degree. But the industry is in his blood, and he could never escape it.

So now he has to embrace it! He will inflict pain on the business that has brought him so much grief. But when they see this face, they won’t think of his father, Flyin’ Brian. He is not “Junior,” either! From now on, he takes on the name of the real man that raised him! And that man was King. So now so is he! Lexis King is coming to NXT!

Kiana James talks with Asuka backstage.

Kiana says she’ll have to deal with Shotzi, too, now. But thanks for tonight, Asuka, you left just enough of Roxie for Kiana to finish off. Kiana heads out and Asuka is confused. But then in walks Blair Davenport! Asuka remembers Blair from their shared time in Japan. As such, Blair talks with Asuka in Japanese about being her sensei for a second. Asuka is ichiban sugoi! AKA Number one amazing! Asuka smiles and Blair heads out. Then Kelani Jordan and Fallon Henley shyly walk over to say hi. And then that’s it for Kelani. But Tiffany says ugh, normies. Tiffany introduces herself but of course Asuka already knows her.

Fallon says, “Excuse me?” Tiffany says she’s excused. But from one dominant champion to the other, please let Tiff know if she needs anything at all. Asuka says okay, and she goes to her locker room. Fallon asks if Tiff’s daddy forgot to teach her manners. No, but he did teach Tiff to treat people like Fallon differently. Tootles. Fallon frowns, is she gonna show Tiff that “people like her” can whoop that ass?

The Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal is set!

Chase U, Gallus, The Creeds, Garza & Carrillo, Malik & Edris, Hank ‘n’ Tank, Damon Kemp & Myles Borne, Drew Gulak & Charlie Dempsey, Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen, and #OutTheMud Price & Nima all get their shot, but who comes out THE #1 Contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championships?

Paul Heyman walks out to the ring.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” the Wise Man gives his introduction which the fans know by heart. No, they’re not Heyman, HE is Paul Heyman. And he serves as Special Counsel and The Wise Man to YOUR Tribal Chief, the REIGNING@! DEFENDING! UNDISPUTED! WWE UNIVERSAL HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION… Roman… Reigns! So on behalf of his Tribal Chief, it is Heyman’s honor, privilege and pleasure to introduce to us “the single most talented performer on the entire NXT roster, a WrestleMania moment waiting to happen,” BADASS BRRRON BREAKKERRR!! And with that, the man #MeanerThanEvil makes his entrance.

Carmelo Hayes w/ John Cena VS Bron Breakker w/ Paul Heyman!

Before tonight, this was just a match to prove is the top dog in NXT. But now, this is about a spot in that Triple Threat #1 Contender’s match as a path back to the top spot in NXT! Will Melo still have Bron’s number? Or will Bron use “the best spear in the business” to get back on track?

The bell rings, fans rally as the two circle, and fans sing “BRON BREAKKER SUCKS~!” Melo ROCKS Bron, then eggs him on. Bron storms up, Melo dodges and ROCKS him again! And again! And again! Bron shoves Melo away, then kicks low to whip at the corner. Melo goes up and over and he BOOTS Bron away! Melo goes up, CROSSBODIES, but into a SPINEBUSTER! Fans boo and bark but Bron tells them to shut up. Bron ROCKS Melo in a corner, follows him to another corner and RAMS into Melo again and again! Fans boo and go back to taunting him, but Bron CLOBBERS Melo! Bron smirks as he stalks Melo.

Bron fireman’s carries and walks around with Melo, but Melo slips free to shove. Bron ducks ‘n’ dodges and speeds up, but runs into the FLYING LARIAT! Melo stomps Bron out of the ring, goes up the corner and dares him to get back in. Heyman cools Bron off as NXT goes picture in picture.

Melo waits on Bron, Bron listens to Heyman’s advice, and then runs up. Melo KICKS him in the ropes, to hit the FADE AWAY JUMPER! Cover, TWO! Bron is still in this but Melo paces around. Melo CHOPS Bron to a corner, CHOPS him again, and then runs up again, but is put on the apron. Melo ROUNDHOUSES Bron, goes up the corner, then leaps to CROSSBODY! Cover, TWO! Melo keeps on Bron with a half nelson but Bron endures. Bron fights up but Melo wrangles him back down. Bron keeps fighting, stands back up, and he powers his way around to hit a BIG back suplex! Cover, TWO!

Bron snarls and storms up on Melo at the ropes. Bron whips, scoops, and hits a BACKBREAKER! Melo writhes, Heyman nods, and Bron stalks Melo to ropes. Bron CHOKES Melo on the ropes while talking trash on Cena, but lets off to do push-ups. Melo goes to a corner, Bron is after him but Melo throws forearms! And CHOPS! Bron kicks low and whips, to RANA Melo! Cover, TWO! Bron drags Melo from the ropes with a cording hold, and he chinbars to push Melo’s face down. Bron then grabs a leg and he pulls Melo in a modified Bow ‘n’ Arrow. NXT returns to single picture, fans rally for Melo but Bron tells them to shut up.

Melo pries at the hold but Bron pulls him back more. Melo gets his leg free, fights up to his feet, and fans rally even as Bron facelocks. Melo throws body shots, but Bron knees low! Bron whips, Melo hits buckles but he BOOTS back! Melo goes up, but Bron SHOVES him down! Melo dangles off the apron but Bron goes out to drag him back up. Bron ROCKS Melo, Melo ROCKS Bron! They climb, brawl more, and Melo CLUBS away on Bron! They go up higher, but Bron resists the lift! Bron then HOTSHOTS Melo down, sacrificing himself to do it! But Bron grins as he rises, slides into the ring, and he rains down fists!

The ref counts as Melo is in the ropes but Bron lets off. Bron then gives Melo a ROPE GUILLOTINE! Cover, TWO! Melo hangs tough but Bron brings him up. Bron whips, ELBOWS and barks it up. Fans boo but Bron drags Melo around. Bron taunts Melo while fans taunt Bron, but Bron still hits an EXPLODER! Bron mockingly conducts the choir, then hauls Melo up again. Melo throws body shots and CHOPS! Fans fire up as Melo CHOPS again but Bron TACKLES him! Bron fires off more fists and asks if Melo likes that! Bron storms around, he drags Melo up, and he fireman’s carries. GUT BUSTER DROP! Melo sputters and coughs but Bron covers, TWO!

Bron is frustrated but he tells Cena he’s gonna finish this. Bron runs, to run Melo over with the Cena style shoulder tackles. And then the SPIN OUT BOMB! Bron mocks Cena with his hand raised, and “You Can’t See Me!” Bron runs, but Melo gets up to SUPERKICK! Fans fire up and Heyman is freaking out! Cena and the fans rally for Melo as he rises, and he LARIATS Bron! And LARIATS again! And SPLASHES in the corner! Melo whips to SPLASH again! And then the suplex, but Bron suplexes! Melo bounces off ropes to suplex and CUTTER! Cover, TWO!! Melo hit the “Lay Up” but didn’t get the win, so he goes to the corner.

Fans fire up as Melo drags himself up, but Bron ROCKS him first! Fans rally for “NXT! NXT!” as Bron climbs. Bron throws hands on Melo, then goes to the very top with him. Melo resists, and shoves Bron away! But Bron is right back up!! SUPER DDT!! Cover, TWO!!! Melo survives and fans are thunderous! Cena and Heyman themselves are a bit surprised, but Bron brings down the straps! Bron aims, runs in, but Melo sends spear into post! And then he pushes Bron out to go up top! Melo aims, NOTHING BUT- NO, Bron avoids the three pointer to pop-up and POWERSLAM! Cover, TWO!! Melo lives and fans fire up!

Bron sees Melo flop out the side and hurries after him. Bron pulls the steel steps apart, he wants to do him like he did Von! But Cena snatches those away! The ref and Heyman argue while Cena kicks Bron low! And now Cena has the steps, to RAM SOLO SIKOA! That’s why Heyman was distracting the ref!! The Enforcer of the Island is here but Cena stops that! Cena and Solo brawl their way out of the arena, Melo hits Bron with the FIRST 48!! Heyman hurries after Solo and Cena, Melo goes up! NOTHING BUT NET!! Cover, MELO WINS!!

Winner: Carmelo Hayes, by pinfall (advances to the NXT Championship #1 Contenders match)

Three points for Melo, and that’s the game! But at the same time, this is just the start! Will- WAIT! BRON SPEARS MELO!! Bron is a sore loser and he takes down Melo! Fans boo as Bron looms over Melo. Bron grabs a mic to say, “Win or lose, there’s only one badass in all of WWE!” BUT THEN THE BELL TOLLS?!? And a motorcycle revs up!? It’s AMERICAN BADASS UNDERTAKER!!! The fans cannot believe it as the Kid Rock plays and the Deadman rides out on stage!! Taker rides down to the ring, around the ring, and then parks by commentary. Booker and Vic Joseph nod as Taker gets up and into the ring!

Taker makes his NXT debut to really make tonight historic! But then he gets in Bron’s face. Fans are losing their minds as Taker stares Bron down. Bron tells Taker, “You listen to me, old timer! There’s only ONE badass around here. You understand me?” Fans tell Bron he messed up. Taker snatches the mic, scowls at Bron, and tells him, “I’ve been watching you for a long time. And one day, you’re gonna be a very special talent here.” Bron likes that! “There’s just one thing. It ain’t today.” Fans like that! Taker then DECKS Bron! Bron staggers up and fans are all fired up! Taker prepares the hand, and he choke grips Bron! Like the shirt says, CHOKE SLAM!!

The fans are thunderous as The Phenom stands tall over the Big Bad Booty Nephew! Melo nods because he likes what he sees. Taker then gets the mic again and says, “Young fella. Y’see, I’m gonna give you a little advice. There’s always an older, bigger, badder badass waiting around the corner. You just met the baddest of ’em all.” Fans love that! The American Badass drops the mic and helps Melo to his feet. Will Melo take down both Corbin and Dijak next week to prove he is still HIM? Or will there truly be a new #1 contender to the title?

My Thoughts:

Awesome stuff here all night from NXT! Cody of course announced the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but I do like that he let us know about the Men’s Breakout Tournament coming, and that he got to be the special guest GM. As such, great promo from him with Dragunov, Dom and Rhea to set up the title match with Knight just being thrown in. No one’s complaining, though, it is fitting that Knight gets to be a special ref when he’s had that match lately. Dom did good against Dragunov but of course he was gonna bring in Finn and McDonagh, and I’m glad to see Trick help stop Dom. Trick also has a good promo with Melo and Cena, and those seeds of dysfunction are definitely growing. Trick might just skip getting the North American title back if he can get the top title himself.

Corbin had a good promo, but the best part was he got interrupted by Knight’s entrance for the NXT title match. Dijak attacking Dragunov was a nice little surprise, and then Corbin also has a good promo with Cody to set up the Triple Threat we’re getting next week. Melo VS Bron was an awesome main event, and great detail for Cena and Solo to brawl. Melo wins his way into the Triple Threat, and so now Melo VS Corbin VS Dijak is going to be awesome stuff. Also, Taker was an awesome closing moment, which I just sensed was coming the moment Bron talked about being the top badass today.

Cody also has a great promo with Tony & Stacks to set up a great battle royal idea, that Bada Bing Bada Boom match is gonna be a lot of fun, and could also set up some other tag team feuds on top of the title feud. Out of all those teams, I actually hope it’s Garza & Carillo that win out to get their 2v2 feud with Tony & Stacks. They need to be allowed to explore more of this newest gimmick, and perhaps they can do that if they get another match with Tony & Stacks. Then I could see Kemp, Borne, Dempsey & Gulak getting into it with Briggs, Jensen and two others for a big 8 Man story. Make it Hank ‘n’ Tank since they’re blue collar brawlers like Briggs & Jensen.

That Pub Fight Rules match was awesome stuff, with all six guys going hard. For one, Dunne gave us a new sadistic way to use darts, and that triple bomb through the table was a great finish. Great win for Dunne, Ridge & Bate, that’ll give the Brutes some momentum going back to SmackDown to face Pretty Deadly and maybe Bate can use this momentum to get his shot at the Heritage Cup. Frazer should also be moving up to the North American title after his promo with Dom & Rhea backstage now that Dragon Lee is officially on SmackDown and Mustafa Ali is just gone. And given everyone we saw in that scene as cameos, maybe Axiom and Tatum Paxley back Frazer up against Dom and Judgment Day.

Great promo from Brian Pillman Jr., now Lexis King. I should’ve figured coming in with a name change was going to prompt him being a bit different from how he was in AEW, where now he’s disowning his father’s legacy to honor his stepfather and late mother with the last name “King.” And Lexis comes from his sister, Alexis, so this is not just the usual “NXT name generator” people poke fun at. I would love to see BPJ/King make his debut in the Men’s Breakout Tournament and maybe even take the whole thing. And great appearance from Jade Cargill, though she didn’t do more than that, like at Fastlane. This is a great tease to show she’s considering her options. And speaking of, great little bit from Heyman talking with Ava. Will she be called up to reinforce the Bloodline?

Solid match for the Women’s Breakout Tournament, and Lola advancing was definitely the proper move. She’s a Heel but the NXT crowd really likes her, and she is very talented already in the ring and as a character. Great match from Roxie and Asuka, but of course Asuka wins. I liked the interactions Asuka had with the other women of NXT and how she was being polite while also feeling a bit uncomfortable. And clearly Tiffany will feud with Fallon while both build up towards the title in the background of everything else. Really good vignette for Becky VS Lyra, and good promo from Lyra and Nox. Nox is starting to sound entitled the way Natty sounded entitled, so maybe those two end up Heel together rather than Natty turning on Nox.

Apparently we’re getting Lyra VS Nox before Halloween Havoc so that’ll be a great tune-up for Lyra. Also how great that Shotzi is back to host Halloween Havoc again! This will be a really fun October for NXT with all this stuff going on, I can’t wait.

My Score: 8.9/10

Andrew’s TNA iMPACT! Results & Match Ratings: 1.16.25

The Go Home for Genesis this Sunday! Let’s see what happens!

Published

on

So Genesis is Sunday, followed by next week’s Live Episode of iMPACT! Let’s see exactly how we get to Genesis and not to bury the lead, the fact the WWE/TNA partnership was extended for a few years is very big news for TNA. More visibility for a nostalgic brand and the younger NXT wrestlers get more opportunities with potential sprinkles of a big name here or there (yes I only really mean AJ Styles, but that’s what we all want to see one more time).

Let’s get to the show and see if it’s a Go Home worth anything.

Ratings:

  • Trent Seven vs Leon Slater: Slater wins via Swanton 450 – *
  • Fir$t Cla$$ vs Maniac Marines (Eric Young & Steve Maclin): EY wins via Macho Elbow – ** 3/4
  • Laredo Kid vs Jake Something: Jakes wins via Avalanche Something Bomb – **
  • The Hardys vs Ohio Versus Frankenstein (Sami Callihan & PCO): Hardys win via Crouton Bomb – ***

Results:

Trent Seven vs Leon Slater

British on British violence! I just appreciate that Trent’s theme is a down tuned remix of Seven Nation Army.

A little back and forth until Slater hits a Reverse Gamengiri, Trent tries to climb back to the apron after the powder, eats a Shotgun Kick. Trent dodges the dive, and Suplexes Leon down the steps at Center Stage. I feel like Slater over sold the spot, but I suppose using your surroundings is always interesting. Leon slides in at 9.5, Trent gets a little cocky and Leon hits two Flash Cradles for near falls, as Trent is reeling from the quick pinfall attempts he eats another Shotgun Kick for a near fall. Trent sells to the corner, eats a Jumping Bootwash, Leon perches Trent, goes for possibly a Spanish Fly but Trent turns it into an Avalanche Flowsion for two!

Bop and Bang, 7 Star Lariat, Piledriver with flourish and…still a two. Birminghammer attempt but Slater flips out of it, Crucifix pinfall for two, Uppercut by Trent and Birminghammer is hit! But Slater…kicks…out? He sells a Suplex where he slides down steps like death, but eats huge signature and finishing moves and kicks out. The psychology in this match is non-existent. Trent does the Finger Break, Leon sells away, hits another Shotgun Kick and Trent powders. X Plex gets reversed into a DDT from Slater. Trent powders off the Ramp, Leon goes to the entrance way runs and jumps off the ramp, then hits the Swanton 450.

Completely stupid match with spots that make no sense. All sizzle no steak, so dumb my IQ dropped 5 points.

The Elegance Clique have a “Pre-Launch Championship Celebration”. Tom Hannifan hates it, the crowd hates it, and the Personal Concierge uncovers a cardboard cut out with a Knockouts Title around their waists…and they are size accurate. Heather is like a My Size Barbie. Ash gives a very cringey speech where she thanks everyone except Heather, the Concierge passes the mic to Heather, Spitfire interrupts of course, and at least Dani cuts the promo to start so it’s tolerable. Yeah this is painfully bad cringe, as much as I didn’t mind the Ash gimmick to start with, this is lame. The only thing saving the segment is the crowd is hot for the the Elegance Clique getting their stuff ruined. So it was lame, but the crowd was into it and Ash sold the destruction of cardboard cut outs like Spitfire just murdered her puppy.

Well the first 40 minutes of this show are making me wish for a stroke instead of watching this. So hopefully it picks up somewhere.

Fir$t Cla$$ vs Maniac Marines (Eric Young & Steve Maclin)

KC flips out of two of EY’s Back Body Drops and does his “First Class” taunt, so EY just slaps him upside the head and tags in Maclin to start beating on Navarro. I do really like KC’s work. He’s like WWE Lio Rush, but likable and talented. Maclin is beating the hell out of KC though, Lariats him out, goes for the SCUD, but AJ low bridges so Maclin crashes to the outside, KC hits the Tope con Hilo with blind tag so AJ is now legal and they start working over Maclin in the corner. Tennessee Whiskey, and there does seem to be a few First Class fans in the crowd.

Navarro is back in for the 305, quick tags though to keep Maclin eating offense. Splash into Big Boot into Assisted Splash while AJ leans on Maclin literally. KC starts picking on kids in the crowd near Judd Normand, he shoves the actor, the actor shoves him back and AJ comes over to mad dog the actor. Maclin takes advantage of the distraction and drops AJ on the way back in with an Olympic Slam, tags in EY and EY comes out hot. KC tags in, EY levels KC and they start messing around in the corner, AJ tries to break it up but eats a Busaiku Knee from Maclin and then a SCUD. EY manages to throw KC off the turnbuckle and then hit the Macho Elbow for the win.

After the match Eddie, Lish and Brian Myers stand at the entrance way to send a message but not cause any real chaos.

Josh Alexander and his two bitch boys come out to cut a promo on Santana or something. I am about as interested in this as I am in Norwegian Dog Sledding. Josh trying to say Santana is too hurt to go at Genesis when we all know this was filmed the same time like a month ago. You really can’t do doofus attempts a story when you’re promoting the first live episode in nearly a decade or something for next week. At least the match should be good because this build is lame, the jabronis are useless, “Bald Ass Head” is the big insult…sheeeesh.

Laredo Kid vs Jake Something

Well…someone has to win this match, so there’s that.

Nothing special start until Jake comes off the ropes and runs over Laredo sending him flying over the ropes onto the ramp. Jake panders to the crowd, Laredo tries to get something going but Jake steps on his foot to stop any Lucha things, and mollywops him. Jake runs him corner to corner until Laredo moves, strings a few moves together, tries to fly and then gets knocked out of the sky with a Forearm. Only a two count for Jake, but Laredo is definitely doing his best impression of a pinata so far in the match. Laredo gets a desperation Satellite DDT, misses his big attempt, but Jake misses the Spear in the corner, La Magistral gets a 2, a few bad spots from Laredo where it looks like he missed a Satellite Facebuster and sloppy Essex or Canadian Destroyer. Laredo goes to the top, Jake bear paw slap, goes up top and Avalanche Something Bomb for the win.

The Hardys vs Ohio Versus Frankenstein (Sami Callihan & PCO)

Before the Hardys intro, the 23 thing flashes a few times again. So at least they didn’t forget that.

Sami starts with Jeff and gets in a few early shots and goads Jeff with Hardys taunts, then all four get in, throw hands and we go to commercial. We come back from commercial to Matt Delete Turnbuckling Sami, and then Poetry In Motion the classic way! A few quick tags, but Sami eventually knocks down Matt, tags in PCO, Matt’s moves aren’t very effective, Jeff throws himself in too and they get their asses beat by PCO. PCO tags in Sami, Sami slaps around Matt, drags his face across the ropes, tags PCO back in and uses PCO as a battering ram into Matt’s chest. PCO keeps Matt in their corner, tags back in Sami, some simple tandem work and a short 2 count for Sami. Sami calls PCO back in and they’re formulating a tag move, they try the Double Back Drop, but Matt turns it into a Double DDT instead.

Jeff tries to fight them both off, Sami grabs Jeff, PCO goes for the Lariat, malfunction at the junction, Whisper in the Wind mostly hits PCO so Jeff Splashes Sami. Twist of Hate, Twist of Fate, Swanton Bomb from Jeff and the Hardy Boys win!

Before the obligatory contract signing on the Go Home before a PPV, Jordynne walks over to the announce table with the contract for her match with Tessa. Says she’ll leave it with them so she can’t miss it, but hey, “if she doesn’t show up at Genesis it wouldn’t be the first time”. That’s funny.

Joe starts the promo saying he has to win, but its on him to take the title from Nic. There’s an intensity, so it’s not all cornball jokes and shenanigans. That’s kinda nice to start with. Nic takes the babyface angle of “you’re not wrong but I don’t think you’re ready yet kid”. Then he plays the JBL clip from Bound for Glory. Nic tries to use the video to clear his name because Ryan got attacked too. Joe is about to poke a hole in the defense but then Hollywood Abyss Mokuba shows up. “MY BROTHER SETO” Ryan interferes, Nic tries to stop the stupidity but Ryan plows through is about to eat a Standing Ovation but Nic Superkicks Joe to save Mokuba. Nic does stand there as the crowd chants “kick your brother”, but Nic doesn’t pull the trigger but you can tell he’s contemplating.

OH! Sexy Tessy shows up, signs the contract but Jordynne was waiting for her and leaves Tessa laying with a Grace Driver and solid intensity. Okay most of the show was kinda mid but the ending was pretty solid.

Overall Score: 6.25/10

As I said at the very end, most of this show was mid…or mediocre for the older crowd. Indie Spotfest Dumbassery to kick off the show, a few segments that made me question if I was tasting pennies, a decent match with First Class, the stalled push never relevant squad match between Jake and Laredo, and at least the main event match was fun.

The video packages always feel lackluster because the only people really watching TNA currently are hardcore fans. I never really see too many people pull the whole “whoa first TNA episode in 11 years and I decided on the random Go Home instead of the first live episode since 2015”. See, this is why logic matters in booking. WWE gets to have the mentality of “it could be someone’s first time watching it” every week because they the biggest show in town. The name alone will garner random views or transient lapsed fans if they get a whiff of something. However when it comes down to TNA, people are only surprised its still alive.

Even with many questionable hours it wasn’t terrible. It did fine…plus like I just said, there’s opportunity for more random eyes thanks to the WWE merger AND a live episode next week. So the Go Home format won’t change, but hopefully the exposure gives us more congruent storylines.

QT Marshall speaks.

“Next week is the 100th episode of ROH Television. Impressive, huh? And that big shot, Paul Wight, from the Board of Directors, he said, ‘QT, I need you to do me a big favor. This show has to be huge! And the way to make that happen is to have you challenging for the ROH Television title.'” QT tells Paul that we all know he owes QT an apology. And the “old QT” would’ve been pretty petty and held that against Paul. But now that QT is a viral sensation who literally has strangers from all over falling in love with him, QT said, “Y’know what, Paul? I’m gonna do it.”

So that’s right, ROH fans! Next week, episode 100, QT Marshall VS Komander, and QT walks out the NEW ROH World Television Champion! And Paul, after that, you will look QT in the eyes and apologize. QT is all smiles now, but will he be the one feeling the DOOM~ after facing the Commander of the Skies?

Shane Taylor speaks.

“Whoever, wherever, whenever. That is the motto of Shane Taylor Promotions. Where I’m from, winning a fight had to be definitive. There was no time limit, there were no disqualifications, there was no bell, and there damn sure wasn’t a referee to come save you. A fight wasn’t over until somebody didn’t wanna fight anymore. A fight wasn’t over until somebody couldn’t fight anymore. A fight wasn’t over until somebody was either knocked out, choked out, or chalked out. It’s a new era in the professional wrestling industry: my era. It is the Era of Shane Taylor Promotions. Win a match if you can. But you damn sure won’t win the fight. Rumble, bad man, rumble.”

La Faccion Ingobernable as been conspicuous by their absence, but the menacing minotaur is continuing on no matter what. My Thoughts:

A very good ROH, especially with it at about an hour and 11 minutes. Again, that’s actually less because of the ROH Rewind. A great choice to go with something from Episode 1 as we’re about to hit Episode 100 of this new “Under Tony Khan” ROH. However, they advertised an update on the “Athena World Tour,” but it wasn’t even anything new, it was just footage courtesy of Stardom. I was hoping she’d have a quick video message meant specifically for the ROH fans, or even a message Billie Starkz would be forced to read in Athena’s place per being Minion 400,237 & 3/4ths. Honestly, I hope we get a proper return from Athena next week on episode 100.

Speaking of, I blanked on how they “planned” on making QT VS Komander for tonight’s episode but good move on them kayfabing the move to episode 100. Good promo from QT to introduce that, and he’ll have a great match with Komander. Speaking of, good adjustment of putting Komander, The Outrunners & Shibata together in a match against I would think the four guys they were going to face anyway. Good showing from Grillo, Colby & “The Stew Crew,” but of course they took the loss. And also good win for Blake Christian, I hope he keeps his win streak going so he can take Komander on for the title.

Mortos VS Nese was great stuff, even The Premier Athletes insisting on the “Athletes Rock!” stuff. Great win for Mortos, but it just occurred to me that once again, Tony Khan has let La Faccion Ingobernable go ice cold. Mortos is the only one of them we see do anything, and he was losing all over the C2. I don’t even know why LFI disappeared again, other than TK is just too focused on Death Riders, Learning Tree, Rated FTR, Don Callis Family, The Hurt Syndicate, and everything else without even properly integrating everything into the “Death Riders want to wake up the AEW roster.” Why not give us some LFI VS Death Riders? Rush VS Moxley could tear it up.

Very good Proving Ground match but of course Velvet won. Risk sure talks a lot of smack, and I almost thought they were going to push this to like the two minute warning. But Velvet is going to be rolling until Leyla Hirsch comes back around and they have their rematch. And a very good 8 Man Tag with STP & LEE-J making a great combination against a rather interesting combination. 11 minutes as a main event match wasn’t much but it was rather hectic, and good win for the Heels. With Lee Johnson resisting the STP recruiting months ago, they could use this to make up for that dropped story. LEE-J joining as a way to also go for the ROH World Six Man titles could be good stuff. They might have to wait until they’re back in Texas, though, since the Von Erichs seem to stay local.

My Score: 8.5/10
