Street Fight: Mia Yim VS Jaida Parker!

Things have escalated between Michin and Miss Parker ever since the NXT Women’s North American Championship was created, and now neither is going to hold back! But will Mia remind us why she’s the Head Baddie in Charge? Or will Jaida show why she runs these streets?

Jaida has a baseball bat, but Mia is bringing a trash can of goodies with her for her entrance! Jaida rushes out there to get Mia, but Mia uses the can as a shield! The bell rings, Mia CHOPS Jaida, then fires a forearm! Mia whips Jaida into steel steps! The fans rally and duel, Mia gets herself a pipe and a chair! Mia puts the pipe aside so she can also get a kendo stick! Mia brings out more chairs, and even a toolbox! Mia goes back to her can to bring out a chain, and a sock? She puts chain in sock, time for some madball!

Jaida finally gets up, swings on Mia but Mia fires back! Mia shoves Jaida down, then SLINGS the sock! Jaida dodges then CHOPS! And CHOPS! Jaida SMACKS Mia off the apron but Mia returns the favor! Mia puts Jaida in the ring, then keeps looking for more plunder! Mia puts in another kendo stick, then a trash can lid. Then a second trash can! Mia tosses it in but Jaida avoids getting canned. Jaida then SMACKS Mia with the lid! And SPANKS her! Jaida whips Mia to KNEE her low, then whips to KNEE her again! Jaida fireman’s carries for a SAMOAN DROP! Cover, TWO! Jaida hurries to get a kendo stick, and she swings!

Mia dodges, the stick hits ropes, then Mia GERMAN SUPLEXES Jaida! The fans fire up as Mia takes off her yellow leather belt! Time to go old school! She SPANKS Jaida with the belt again and again! Then LASHES her on the back! Mia gets the toolbox, moves that aside, and then wedges a trash can into a corner. Jaida runs up, Mia dodges and Jaida’s knee hits can! Jaida still kicks Mia, then puts her in the ropes! Jaida CHOPS Mia, then runs up, to DROP IT LIKE IT’S HOT on the trash can!! Cover, TWO! Mia survives but Jaida just DROPKICKS her out of the ring! Jaida keeps moving, and she slides, only for Mia to dodge! Then Mia CHUCKS that sock!!

Mia JAMS Jaida with the chair, POSTS her, then snarls as she gets a chair. Mia sits it up by ringside, and then sets another chair beside it. Mia adds a third, but Jaida SMACKS Mia with a fourth! Jada then suplexes Mia, but Mia fights it! Mia wrenches, HOOK KICKS, and Jaida takes a seat. Mia CHOPS Jaida, clears some space in the ring, and she builds speed. The fans fire up as Mia DIVES, but only gets chair!! Mia only gets steel to the face! Mia goes to barriers, Jaida runs, but Mia moves! Jaida crashes through barriers!! The fans are losing their minds as NXT goes picture in picture!

Jaida gets out of the wreckage, Mia storms over, and Mia puts Jaida in the ring. Mia then storms around, and she politely asks Vic Joseph if she can have the candy. He says yes, and she brings the whole box into the ring. Mia SMACKS Jaida with the box! Mia then scoops Jaida to SLAM her on the candy! Mia then goes back to her original trash can, to bring out an extra long chain! Mia brings that chain with her, throws the candy to the fans, then goes back for Jaida. Jaida KNEES Mia low, reels her in, and snap suplexes her to the floor! Jaida blames Vic for the candy stuff, then she puts Mia in the ring.

Jaida brings out another chair, pushes it in the ring, then gets another. Jaida is busy looking for more stuff but Mia goes to the toolbox. Mia works to open it up while Jaida keeps adding chairs. Jaida even takes the chairs from earlier and puts those in. Jaida stomps Mia, grabs the toolbox, and the two tug-o-war over it. But then Jaida SLAMS the lid on Mia’s fingers! And STOMPS the box! Mia gets her possibly broken fingers free, and Jaida starts bringing out hammers and wrenches! Jaida CHOKES Mia with a wrench! Then she uses a socket to pull on Mia’s fingers! Mia endures, so Jaida uses the claw of a hammer to fishhook her!

NXT returns to single picture as Mia suffers! Mia grabs the little sledge to JAM Jaida up! Jaida lets go, Mia grabs herself a new madball! Mia SMACKS Jaida in the stomach! And then Mia arranges the chairs into a pile, and reveals the madball was NUTS ‘N’ BOLTS!! The fans are going nuts, Mia underhooks Jaida! PACKAGE- NO, Jaida powers out and BACKDROPS Mia onto the nuts ‘n’ chairs!! Cover, TWO?!? Mia survives and no one can believe it! Jaida hurries to run, but Mia SMACKS her with a kendo stick! And SMACKS her again! And again! And again, and again, and again! Jaida writhes in a corner while the fans fire up!

Mia gets a trash can, stalks Jaida, and puts the can around her! Mia SMACKS the can with the wrench, then clears out some space again. Mia runs up, to TRASH CAN-NONBALL! Cover, TWO!!! Jaida survives and Mia can’t believe it! Jaida flops out of the ring, but Mia hurries out the side, bringing the pipe! But Jaida FIRE EXTINGUISHER BLASTS Mia! Then she TEARDROP HIP ATTACKS Mia through a wall!!! The fans are again losing their minds as both women are under the perch! Jaida drags herself and Mia out of the wreckage, then back to ringside. Jaida puts Mia in, reloads, and TEARDROPS!! Cover, Jaida wins!

Winner: Jaida Parker, by pinfall

Jaida wanted this fight, and she got a fight! But she also won this fight, putting her entire body on the line. She still runs these streets, but will NXT soon belong to Miss Parker?

Arianna Grace sighs.

She sulks in the locker room, with only Karmen Petrovic there to hear her. So Arianna sighs harder. Karmen can’t ignore this obvious cry for attention, and she asks what’s wrong. Arianna says it’s nothing. She doesn’t wanna talk about it. But since she asked, she may as well get it off her chest. Karmen sits with Arianna, and Arianna says Sol snatched Arianna’s soul, and her heart, because now she’s not going to Heatwave. And surely Karmen knows this, but Arianna is from Toronto. Her people were dying to see her and now they’ll be devastated. Karmen tries not to laugh, and she says she understands. She’s also from Toronto.

Arianna means this lovingly, but Karmen isn’t as Canadian as Arianna. How is that a thing? But then in step Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx, mockingly applauding. They didn’t realize they’d be walking into a pity party. Who is more pathetic? The delusional one or the loner? No Natty, no friends. Karmen says she’s already told people this, but she belongs here. So if they have an issue, let’s fix it. Jazmyn & Jacy laugh that off, then leave. Karmen says this cannot keep happening. What will it take for the real-life Beatrix Kiddo to get some respect around here?

Je’Von Evans speaks.

“This my first PLE, and I’m in the main event? Yo, this is crazy!” The Young OG won the battle royal, and Heatwave’s gonna get bouncy. Je’Von’s never even left the country, he’s gotta get a passport just for this! People asked if he was upset this was no longer a 1v1 match with Trick Williams, but c’mon. He’ll still wrestle in front of the biggest crowd he’s ever seen before. He ain’t afraid of Shawn Spears, he ain’t afraid of Ethan. He isn’t even afraid of Trick, that’s all love, even with the title on the line. But Je’Von does plan on coming back across the border the NEW NXT Champion.

Kelani Jordan speaks.

“All my life, I wanted my name to be in record books. But for my name to be written in them, I had to work like a champion. All I know is structure. A one-track mind. But… It’s produced results. Five-time Junior Olympic national qualifier. Second overall in the nation on floor. Full-ride scholarship to Michigan State University. Three-time MVP, three-time team captain, nominee for NCAA Athlete of the Year, and now… The first-ever Women’s North American Champion. Pressure comes with being a champion, especially being the first. But no one is going to defend this title like Lani.

“Being a gymnast, no accolade can be taken away from me. But this title can be. Sol Ruca has everything to be a champion. She’s an unparalleled athlete who deserves this match. But like Michael Jordan said, ‘Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, and others make it happen. At NXT Heatwave, Lani’s gonna make it happen.” The Stand Out is ready to stand tall, but will she make it through the Heatwave? Or will she be washed away by Sol’s wave of momentum?

Hank ‘n’ Tank VS New Catch Republic!

Hank Walker & Tank Ledger missed out on the Tag Team Turmoil, but they understand why. They still have a long way to go until they’re a top team in NXT, but will taking on one of the best tag teams in the whole WWE help them prove themselves? Or will Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne just use the Blue Collar Brawlers as rebounds from losing the gauntlet?

NXT returns and Hank ‘n’ Tank make their entrance. The teams sort out, Hank starts against Bate and the two tie up. Hank wrenches, wristlocks, but Bate rolls and rolls and gets loose. The two shake hands and the fans rally up. Hank pumps up and wants a test of strength. Bate obliges, they knuckle lock, and then go shoulder to shoulder. Hank uses his height to push Bate but Bate bridges. Hank gets a cover, TWO as Bate bridges! Hank hops on, but Bate stays up! He’s the Big Strong Boi for a reason! Bate then powers back up to his feet, rolls back, and he headscissors Hank to go up and up and wave to fans, for the RANA!

The fans fire up, Bate headlocks Hank and tags Dunne. Bate hammerlocks Hank while Dunne CHOPS him. And CHOPS again! Dunne wrenches an arm, clamps onto the shoulder, then steps over. But Hank lifts Dunne up! Dunne sunset flips, TWO! Dunne headlocks, Hank powers out while tagging Tank! Tank CLOBBERS Dunne! The fans fire up as Hank ‘n’ Tank pump it up, and BODY PRESS SANDWICH Dunne! Hank ‘n’ Tank fire up and the fans are with them! Tank storms up on Dunne but Dunne SLAPS him! Dunne wrenches an arm, grinds the shoulder, and he puts Tank on the mat, to STOMP the hand!

Tank flounders away, Bate tags in. Dunne wrenches the arm, STOMPS it again, then Bate KNEE-BOARD SENTONS! Bate keeps on Tank with a whip to the corner Tank goes up to FLYING SHOULDER! The fans fire up as Tank reels Bate in. But it’s Bate who suplexes Tank! Tank scrambles away, hot tag to Hank! Hank runs up, blocks a boot, but Bate reels him in for a KNEE! Bate goes up and leaps, but Hank gets under. Bate turns around, Bop up, BANG! Fireman’s carry, AIRPLANE SPIN! The fans fire up as Hank goes around and around and around, TEN and SLAM! Bate then kips up and poses! The fans cheer while NXT goes to break.

NXT returns and Dunne drags Tank up. Dunne kicks Tank around, but Tank fires body shots! Dunne SMACKS Tank down, then stays between him and Hank. The fans rally but Dunne STOMPS Tank’s hands! Tank goes to ropes, Dunne gets him back up to KICK him around. Dunne stomps Tank, eggs him on, then paces. Tank crawls, rises up, and fans rally. Dunne BOOTS Tank, CLUBS him down, then runs up again. Tank dodges the boot to full nelsons! BUBBA BOMB! Hot tag to Hank! Hank runs up to LARIAT Dunne! Hank whips Dunne to a corner, runs in and SPLASHES! Dunne sits down but Hank YANKS him up!

Hank swings Dunne to SNAKE EYES, and BOOT! Hank sees Bate get in, wheelbarrow turns into a SLAM onto Dunne! Off comes the shirt and Hank powers up! Dunne rises, Hank fireman’s carries, but Dunne swings through to get a TRIANGLE HOLD! Hank stays on his feet, deadlifts Dunne back up, and Tank tags in to then climb up! Hank finishes lifting Dunne, LARIAT POWERBOMB COMBO! Cover, BATE BREAKS IT! The fans fire up and Hank storms up. Bate CHPOS, ROCKS and repeat, but Hank knees low! Hank whips Bate, scopos and tosses him, but Bate RANAS Tank! Bate then RANAS Hank!

Bate builds speed and he DIVES, but Hank ‘n’ Tank catch him! They APRON BOMB him on Dunne! Hank sits Bate & Dunne up so that he and Tank can both run! They DOUBLE BODY CHECK New Catch Republic! Tank puts Dunne in, tags Hank, but Dunne ENZIGIRIS Tank! Dunne BOOTS Hank, fires up, and runs in. Hank sends Dunne to Tank, POUNCE GERMAN SUPLEX COMBO!! Cover, TWO!! Dunne survives and Hank can’t believe it! Hank goes to a corner, climbs up, and the fans rally. Dunne is up, Hank leaps, into a KNEE!! Hot tag to Bate, hot tag to Tank! Tank runs in, Dunne dodges and Bate GAMANGIRIS!

Dunne wrenches Tank’s arm, SNAPS fingers, Bate REBOUNDER LARIATS! Dunne DOUBLE STOMPS Hank on the outside! Bate is up top, SKY TWISTER!! Cover, New Catch Republic wins!

Winners: New Catch Republic, by pinfall

Hank ‘n’ Tank may not have won against one of the best teams, but they proved they’re on their way! The teams show respect to each other, will we see them run this back one day?

Shawn Spears speaks.

“I returned to NXT to guide. To lead this very talented but inexperienced and young crop of talent. I wanted to share my wealth of knowledge. But it’s been met with… reluctance. So now I’ll lead by example. This Sunday, I return home to Toronto, and I will reach the pinnacle. Then, the young crop of talent, especially the ones I’ve had my eye on, they will finally see the light. I already put down Je’Von Evans, and I was the first man to pin Trick Williams since he became champion. They will follow my lead, because this Sunday, Ethan Page, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, at NXT Heatwave, I will win the NXT Championship.”

Robert Stone & Stevie Turner talk with Oro Mensah.

Suit Man Stone assures Main Man Mensah that their past, with Noam Dar picking on Von Wagner, that’s all behind them. Last week, what a story from Oro! Stevie says yes, so moving! What a story, mate. Stone wonders if there’s an echo in the back. Stevie says no, Stone is just hard of hearing. Sign of old age and all that. Anyway, Oro says they called him here for something, so what is it? Right, right. Good news: Oro is cleared for action! Oro VS Myles Borne! That IS good news. But then Stevie has to give the bad news. What? No, it was supposed to be Stone giving the bad news. Oro tells them to stop arguing and just say what it is!

Stevie says Stone doesn’t have the balls to say it. The thing is, given recent altercations with Ethan Page, Oro is not going to Toronto for Heatwave. Oro says that’s fine, he has a match to focus on. Just keep doing what you’re doing. Oro leaves and Stone argues with Stevie again. “Balls?” Is that any way to talk to talent? He is telling on her! Oh, well, who is the NARC now? The competition of best assistant is heating up, what will it take to put it to rest?

Brinley Reece w/ Malik Blade & Edris Enofe VS Izzi Dame!

#BrinEnergy only ever tries to be her positive self, but the former sidekick to Kiana James always has to be such a buzzkill. Will Brin finally get a win to prove her way works? Or will she find out It Iz What It Iz?

NXT returns and Izzi makes her entrance. The bell rings, Izzi taunts Brin, but Brin runs up. They tie up, Izzi shoves Brin away. They tie up again, Izzi again shoves Brin away. They tie up again, Izzi scoops to SLAM Brin! Brin gets up, but Izzi scops to SWINGING SLAM! Brin flounders to ropes, Izzi stomps away! The ref counts, Izzi lets off, then she covers, TWO! Izzi stalks Brin, reels her in, Canadian Racks for the torture rack! Brin pops free, ELBOWS Izzi, then dodges to fire off forearms! Brin whips, then TACKLES Izzi! And TACKLSE her again! Brin rusn to BODY CHECK Izzi! The fans fire up and Brin runs in.

Izzi steps aside but Brin goes up and up to NIGHTSHADE! Brin keeps moving, handspring and LARIAT! The fans fire up as Izzi bails out, and Brin grabs hair! Iziz drasg Brin out instead, but Brin CHOPS! Brin powers up, but Izzi RAMS her into apron! Tatum Paxley slithers out from the literal hole in the wall!! Tatum sneaks up on Izzi while she puts Brin in. Izzi scoops Brin, but Brin slips free again! Brin dodges Izzi, and Tatum is there all spider walk style! Izzi is creeped out, Brin rolls her up! TWO, and Izzi swings! Brin rolls Izzi again, TWO! Brin fireman’s carries, but Izzi slips free and shoves, for a BOOT!

Izzi is mad now, and she gets Brin up. Izzi suplexes Brin, for the FALCON ARROW! Cover, Izzi wins!

Winner: Izzi Dame, by pinfall

Tatum then slithers into the ring and scares Izzi! Izzi isn’t sure what to make of this, why is Izzi the new obsession?

Chase U is now in session.

Andre Chase there is a lot of history in Toronto. Fact check: DIY won the tag team titles, the Street Profits retained theirs, and on July 7th, Chase U becomes the MOTHER EFFIN’ TWO-TIME TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS! The class all cheers, but Duke keeps talking with Ridge about something. Chase asks if they wanna share with the class. Duke says he can’t hide it anymore. Their win over The Good Brothers wasn’t clean. What? But they all saw Duke get that pin. Yeah, but Ridge gave an assist that no one asked for! Duke is sorry, but it has to be said. And here’s the photographic proof. Chase opens the envelope and he sees for himself.

Ridge was reaching out to pull Duke forward. Riley says he knew it all along! Ridge knows what this looks like, he is sorry. He was just over the moon when he was given the Chase U shirt. He didn’t want to be part of a group, but part of a family. That is what Chase U has been to him. That is why he also took the hit for Chase in Tag Team Turmoil. No one here is free of mistakes. But Chase must ask Ridge now stays back while the rest go to Toronto. Ridge understands, and he is sorry. Chase dismisses class, and the mood has taken a 180. Will the fortunes of Chase U do the same? Or can they still win this the right way?

Lola Vice is in the ring.

The #1 contender already has a mic, and she says the clock is ticking, Roxanne. It is almost time! So come on out here, since your days are numbered. The Prodigy obliges, but she also has security? Lola can’t believe she shook her that bad. Roxie says no, Lola attacked her, stole the belt and ran away, so these guys are here to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Attacked? Doesn’t she mean knocked Roxie out cold? Then yeah, she did that. Roxie joins Lola in the ring and says to drop the act. Roxie won’t be intimidated. After this Latina Badass vibe, Roxie sees through her. And this Sunday is the most important match of Lola’s career.

Lola says damn right! But Roxie has been watching Lola. In just a few months here, Lola built a bigger name in NXT than she ever did in Bellator. Good for her. Because clearly Lola is not the same woman who cashed in her Breakout contract and screwed Roxie over. By the way, thanks for that, because look where Roxie is now! The fans rally up for Lola but Roxie just smirks. Lola tells Roxie that yes, she is the champion. But whether it is in the ring or in the cage, Lola IS a fighter. The fans cheer that. Is Roxie a fighter? Roxie says that yes, she saw NXT Battleground’s Underground match. Roxie probably couldn’t last two minutes in that with someone like Shayna Baszler.

But the problem is… this won’t be Bellator! This won’t be the Underground! This Sunday is a wrestling match. That means Lola is in Roxie’s world now! A world that Roxie is already a master of. And Lola knows better than anyone that styles make fights. But Roxie wont’ fight Lola’s fight. Lola must wrestle Roxie’s style of match! Lola warns Roxie that she was a fighter before she was born. We all know Roxie’s story about going to Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling, six hours both ways. But Lola hasn’t told HER story. HER story of sacrifice! Lola’s mother was pregnant with her during her own blackbelt test.

And then, Lola became a fourth-degree master in Tae Kwan Do! Lola was training for the Olympics, and she’s emotional as she recalls it. The fans cheer her on to continue. Lola says her mom got sick, and so at 18 years old, Lola changed to MMA to provide for her family. At 20, she was already fighting in Madison Square Garden! Lola’s mother will be watching her on Sunday, and she can’t wait ot call home and tell her, “Mami, I did it!” All the sacrifices they both made will have been worth it! Because Lola will be the NEW NXT Women’s Champion! Roxie is a bit taken aback. She never knew all that.

And Roxie can look at Lola and she sees Lola believes everything she is saying. There’s respect for that. But the reality is, Lola, every single woman here wants to make that same phone call. But when you step in the ring with Roxie with the title on the line, those phone calls are never made. Roxie laughs, and says that every single match, every single win proves why Roxie is the Prodigy! Ask Natty, Jordynne Grace, and Lyra Valkyria why, at just 22 years old, Roxie is already building a legacy here as TWO-TIME NXT Women’s Champion. Lola will not take this title from Roxie, and it is simply unfortunate that Lola’s NXT career was during the Roxie Era.

Roxie is not giving up her title. Not to Lola, not to anyone in that damn locker room! Lola says Roxie doesn’t have to give it, Lola will take it! Roxie hit Lola with her best shot, and Lola smiled. Lola hit Roxie with her best shot, and Roxie woke up without the title. So on Sunday, Lola is one step closer to showing why she is the greatest crossover ever! And on Sunday, when Lola RIPS that title from Roxie, she becomes the FIRST CUBAN AMERICAN Women’s Champion! Lola’s fire is rising, and Roxie can feel it! Her security steps up, too, so Lola URAKENS the biggest one down! Lola says this may be Roxie’s world, but after she knocks Roxie out, she won’t know what world she’s in!

The fans fire up for Lola, but will her passion and drive be enough to dethrone The Prodigy? Or will the ice cold Roxie just put out that Latina Heat?

Ethan Page speaks.

“I rocked the foundation of NXT when I took out Oro Mensah and Noam Dar. I cracked that foundation when I debuted, taking out the NXT Champion, Trick Williams. I’ve been building a reputation for a long time around the world. And now, I’m exactly where I need to be. After Battleground, Trick Williams found out who really was the better man. Then Je’Von Evans found out the same thing when I pinned him in the middle of the ring. Sure, of course I respect fellow Canadian, Shawn Spears. But Shawn, there’s only room for one of us to be THE guy in NXT. And that’s All Ego, baby.

“This Sunday, at Heatwave, I will do what I’ve intended to do since coming to. All Ego Ethan Page will become the NXT Champion.”

No Quarter Catch Crew talks backstage.

Charlie Dempsey tells Myles Borne that the NQCC is the most dominant faction in NXT. Damon Kemp walks in excitedly, wanting to show Charlie the brass knuckles he found. Dempsey knows about these, right? Hey, guys, check this out. Dempsey tells Kemp to stop. What’s wrong with him? Does Kemp think that’s gonna work? Myles, don’t listen to Kemp. Myles! Oh, did he say something? Nah, don’t worry about it. But tonight, Myles’ best friend is his power advantage, so use it. Myles nods, he and Tavion Heights follow Dempsey out, and Kemp says he was just showing off the knuckles. But will Myles prove he’s the guy for the job in taking on Oro Mensah?

Eddy Thorpe DJs a party.

The Alpha Wolf and his brooha style is a big hit. Afterwards, the NXT prospects tell him that was such a good night. Eddy thanks them for coming, but Lexis King walks over. What is this? Some stupid TikTok trend? Dani Palmer points out it’s Eddy spinning. Spinning what? Uh, he DJs on the side. Oh, wow, really? He was behind that crap? Eddy should be ashamed of himself! If there’s one thing The King knows, it is music. And rock ‘n’ roll is where it’s at! Guns ‘n’ Roses, White Snake, Scorpions! Three minute guitar solos and riffs. And even bigger hair. That is what the ladies love. Uh, maybe for “The King,” but the clubs Eddy plays prefer EDM, bass, high energy.

Lexis says nobody actually likes that robot beep boop crap. And they wouldn’t know cool if it slapped them in the face. Well, maybe if Lexis opened his mind and his ears, he could learn a thing or two. Lexis leaves but Eddy says he’s got another gig this Saturday. Dani’s up for it. Will Lexis ever be humbled? Will Eddy have to do it himself?

Winner: Oro Mensah, by pinfall

Kemp thought he was doing the right thing but now Dempsey’s even more upset with him than before! As for Oro, he is doing Dar proud. And he warns Ethan Page to be careful after Heatwave, because Oro’s still after him! Will Oro also be going after the NXT Champion if things go All Ego’s way?

Wes Lee speaks.

“You all know my history with the North American Championship. A tag team competitor who was forced to break out on his own, captured that title, and literally broke my back trying to defend it.” The Cardiac Kid had a passionate speech goodbye, but he also had an equally emotional return. He’s talked about this title so much, it is now an obsession. Wes wants nothing else. He is running full steam, pedal to the metal, ready to bust through the wall that is Oba Femi. Oba is a man who is seemingly incomparable. Sunday is Wes’s first 1v1 title match with Oba, and his last. This title has consumed Wes’s mind for almost two years, he needs this win. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t know what he’ll do.

Oba Femi responds.

Oba tells Wes, “The only reason you are revered as the greatest is because you came before me. I am THE RULER! THE DESTROYER! THE BRINGER OF WAR! I am the mountain that you cannot climb.” Wes is living in the past, but Oba understands why. A decorated champion, his deep connection with the fans, but Wes must understand that the beacon of light he once was is slowly beginning to dim. This is Wes’s last chance. The Cardiac Kid’s last shot to pull it off and reclaim the title that took his career to unforeseen heights. But Wes, Oba is the epitome of dominance. Everyone that has tried has failed.

Wes is great, but he is no different than those men. Oba will not only crush Wes’s body, but his dreams. Both men are ready for a modern day David VS Goliath, but will this go the same as the famous story? Or is Goliath going to win this time?

Gallus is brawling with Tyriek & Tyson!!

Seems neither side wanted to wait for their match! Wolfgang THROWS Tyriek, but Tyson throws things at Mark Coffey! Then Tyson TACKLES Wolfgang into a wood barrel! Wolfgang writhes, but Mark SMACKS Tyson with a steel chair! Tyriek gets up to brawl with Mark, and then refs rush in! These teams are out for blood, what does this mean for the match tonight?

Brin regroups with Malik & Edris.

Malik asks if she’s good. Edris says that he’s been trying to tell her, positivity alone doesn’t produce results. Malik says he can’t keep saying that. Brin asks the two to tell the truth. If they don’t want her around anymore, just tell her. It clearly isn’t working, right? She’ll go work out. If they wanna come, okay. If not, it’s okay. Brin heads out, Malik follows her, and then Edris follows Malik. Then the Good Brothers snatch the camera! Big LG shouts at Bronco Nima & Lucien Price that their girl won the Street Fight, but The OC isn’t done with OTM! Machine Gun asks them how their faces feel.

If OTM shows up next week, the Good Brothers will break both their faces! Gallows & Anderson head out, but will they have to watch their backs for retaliation?

BREAKING NEWS!

Given that brutal brawl backstage, both Gallus and Ty & Ty are being evaluated in NXT Medical, and their match has been called off! Will these teams have to wait until they’re actually in the ring to fight this out?

Carlee Bright w/ Kendal Grey VS Wendy Choo!

There was a time when the Super Cheerleader and the Queen of Comfy would’ve gotten along quite well. However, something has changed Wendy into more a zombie than a slacker. Her sleep blindfold says “DEAD INSIDE,” is that how she’ll make Carlee feel soon enough?

The bell rings, Carlee fires forearms on Wendy! Carlee fires off, Kendal cheers her own, but then Wendy gets around to throw Carlee by her hair! Wendy gets Carlee up but Carlee cartwheels through the wristlock. Wendy still WRINGS Carlee out! Carlee reaches up, headscissors, and she squeezes tight! Wendy moves around, pops free, and she has a sinister grin on her face! Wendy leaps onto Carlee for a headlock, grinds her down, but Carlee claws her way up. Carlee powers out, drops down, but Wendy counters the hip toss, only for Carlee to counter the counter! Hip toss and lateral press, ONE!!

Wendy rises up but Carlee DECKS her! Carlee fires up, runs in, but into BOOTS! Wendy then runs up, SLIDING FLATLINER! Wendy stares blankly at Carlee as she flounders away. Wendy CHOKES Carlee, lets off as the ref counts, and then stalks her to a corner. Kendal coaches Carlee but Wendy snapmares, for a NECK TWIST! Carlee crawls, Wendy AX KICKS Carlee down! Wendy CHOKES Carlee, fires forearms, then HEADBUTTS her down! The fans rally, Wendy drags Carlee up, but Carlee fires body shots. The fans rally, and Wendy CLUBS Carlee down. Wendy whips Carlee to a corner, runs in and SPLASHES!

Wendy wrenches Carlee and puts her up top, into a Tree of Woe! Wendy goes corner to corner, runs back in, and DROPKICKS Carlee out of the Tree! Cover, TWO! Carlee is still in this and now Wendy is getting mad! Wendy brings Carlee up, Carlee blocks the buckle bump. Carlee elbows free, runs, ducks ‘n’ dodges, then tilt-o-whirl RANAS! Wendy staggers up, Carlee CLOBBERS her! And CLOBBERS her again! The fans fire up with Carlee, she runs in at the corner, HANDSPRING KICK! Carlee then DROPKICKS Wendy down, to STANDING MOONSAULT, but only knees! Wendy wrenches, hammerlocks, and TWISTED LARIAT!

But that’s not all! NIGHT NIGHT CLUTCH!! Carlee is caught, she taps! Wendy wins!

Winner: Wendy Choo, by submission

But she won’t let go until she’s satisfied! Wendy finally sets Carlee free, and she has a sinister smile. Is Wendy going to make everyone’s nightmares come true?

Trick Williams speaks.

“Sunday, Heatwave, Toronto. It’s my biggest test yet. Three challengers, they’ve all got cases. The Young OG, Goofy Ass Spears, and All Talk Ethan Page. Fatal 4 Way match, where anything can happen. But the only thing that will happen is I’m retaining my NXT Championship. And this Sunday at Heatwave, you already know what’s going down! I retain my NXT title.”

Shawn Michaels speaks.

“Over the past several months, there have been disturbances in NXT caused by one young man, Brooks Jensen.” Jensen has shared video on social media that NXT officials have been trying to silence him, and HBK explains that following his series of posts, it is clear Brooks has been making disparaging remarks towards the brand. Jensen even want so far as to say that one way or another, he will be heard. Reports came out that he was released from his WWE contract, but HBK confirms those reports are false. After his split from Briggs, Jensen began to spiral. He was asked to take a sabbatical to clear his head.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and NXT has been forced to take action to keep Jensen away from tapings and even live events. Jensen only got worse and worse, but as part of the NXT family, HBK is willing to give him a second chance. Next Tuesday, HBK invites Jensen to have a sit-down discussion with General Manager, Ava Raine, to talk about his future, and to see if he can be steered in the right direction. Will Jensen take HBK up on this gracious offer?

Karmen Petrovic VS Jazmyn Nyx w/ Jacy Jayne!

Well, she did say she was gonna do something about the disrespect, so now Karmen is getting her match with the toxic sidekick! Will Karmen make them respect her? Or will the egos of Jazmyn & Jacy only grow bigger from here?

NXT returns and Karmen makes her entrance. The bell rings and the two circle. Jazmyn ducks a kick but Karmen jumps the sweep. Jazmyn is annoyed and the two circle. They tie up, Karmen headlocks, and Jazmyn pulls hair to power out. Karmen sweeps the legs and clamps on with another headlock. Jazmyn fights up, fires body shots, but Karmen wrenches to wristlock. Jazmyn arm-drags but Karmen holds on to hammerlock! Jazmyn is annoyed and fights up to her feet. Jazmyn wrenches, Karmen rolls, and Karmen kicks free to wrench back. Karmen wristlocks, Jazmyn pulls hair to throw Karmen down!

The ref reprimands, Jazmyn runs but Karmen avoids the Penalty Kick to roll her up! TWO, and Jazmyn avoids a kick! The two reset, approach, and Karmen dodges to whip. Jazmyn reverses but Karmen goes up to SOBAT! Karmen gets moving to BASEMENT BLOCKBUSTER! Cover, TWO! Jacy gets on the apron tot aunt Karmen, but Karmen still blocks Jazmyn’s sucker punch! Karmen whips, Jazmyn reverses, but Jazmyn catches Karmen this time to KICK her down! Jazmyn stomps Karmen in the corner, then brings her up. Karmen pushes Jazmyn but Jazmyn ROCKS Karmen! Jazmyn turns Karmen for a NECKBREAKER!

Jazmyn kips up smooth, runs and PENALTY KICKS! Cover, TWO! Jazmyn is annoyed but she clamps on the headscissor squeeze. Fallon Henley is watching backstage, and is moderately impressed. The fans rally as Karmen endures the squeeze, and she fights around. Karmen turns over and manages to tuck Jazmyn to a cover, TWO!! Jazmyn escapes, storms up, but into a BOOT! And a JUMP ROUNDHOUSE! Karmen then hits a BULLDOG! Karmen fires up and the fans are with her as she rallies on Jazmyn! DISCUS LARIAT a la Natty! Karmen then runs up, wrenches, KICKS, and KICKS again!

Karmen wrenches, WRINGS Jazmyn out, and she takes aim. But Jacy grabs at her, so Karmen STOMPS Jacy’s hand! Jacy clutches her fingers, Karmen stays to mind your business. But then TOXIC PELE!! Cover, Jazmyn wins!

Winner: Jazmyn Nyx, by pinfall

Jacy pushes the ref aside so she can raise Jazmyn’s hand in victory. Will this devious duo soon take over NXT with their toxicity?

Nathan Frazer talks with Axiom backstage.

The Jersey Island Rocket is thinking that they gotta find a way early on to chuck ’em out, DIVE on ’em, get ’em back in- Yeah, and then tag to Axiom so he can- Wait, wait, what? Tag? Yeah, isn’t Frazer talking their tag title match? Oh, sorry, Frazer was talking about WWE Speed tomorrow, against Xavier Woods. Axiom cannot believe this! They have their match at Heatwave on Sunday! Yes, against Chase U, Frazer knows! He’ll be focused. But he needs to focus what’s ahead of him, and that is Woods in three minutes or less. Axiom looks stressed. And Frazer doesn’t look focused! Frazer says they’re not gonna overlook Chase U, Chase U are former tag team champions.

But guess what? They’re the best team in the game right now! No one is knocking them off their horses! Frazer will be laser focused when the time comes, they’ll be fine. Frazer says to watch tape on Saturday. Axiom sighs, but will the Hard-Hitting Home Truth be that Frazer’s just doing too much?

Karmen storms into Ava’s office.

She saw that, right? Yes, she did. Then Karmen doesn’t care if it’s Jazmyn, Jacy or both, and she doesn’t care if she has to do it alone. Ava says Karmen doesn’t have to do it alone. Her friend came and talked to Ava, said how they’re both upset with Jacy & Jazmyn, and now they’ll have a match on the Heatwave preshow. OMG, Natty’s back? Uh, no, it’s Arianna Grace. She may not be The BOAT, but she is the Beauty Queen! And Canadians have to stick together, eh? What better place for them to team up for the first time ever than their hometown of Toronto? They’ll take on Jacy & Jazmyn together!

It’ll be the Beauty Queen and the Princess, OH CANADA she can’t wait! Arianna squees and hurries away, but Karmen is getting a headache. But will she be able to tolerate Arianna long enough to kick Jacy & Jazmyn in half?

Sol Ruca speaks.

“Growing up, I was never one to play by the rules. And in gymnastics, there are a lot of those. Instead, I taught myself almost everything I know with my own beam, mat and bars. I went to the beach and the park, and I taught myself through trial and error. I jumped into competing in acrobatics and tumbling, and accepted a scholarship to the University of Oregon, where I was a multi-acrobatic-event national champion. Fast forward to today, my thirst for adrenaline and ability to adapt quickly landed me in my new home of NXT.

“I was in my element in that ladder match at Battleground. But I’m not afraid to admit, I came up short to the better woman that night. Like LeBron James says, ‘You can’t be afraid to fail, it’s the only way you succeed.’ While everyone else may talk the talk for what they think is their opportunity, I simply focus on walking the walk. And snatching a few souls on the way. Make no mistake: I am bringing the heat to Toronto, and leaving as NXT Women’s North American Champion.” The Surfer Girl is ready to ride the wave, but will she see not even she does it like Lani?

Time for the NXT Championship contract signing!

Already in the ring and in their seats are the three challengers, Ethan Page, Shawn Spears & Je’Von Evans. And of course, THE NXT Champion gets his proper introduction. The fans chant “Whoop Dat Trick!” as the man himself makes his way out to the ring. Trick steps inside, sets his title on the podium, and then grabs the mic. “WOO~! Hey yo check it, there’s a Heatwave coming to Toronto, and I know you boys are hungry. But it odn'[t matter, because in Toronto, the people are gonna be chanting one thing. NXT, tell ’em what we gon’ do! “WHOOP DAT TRICK!”

Ethan says this is why he loves Trick. He loves that Trick doesn’t care! Not if it’s a singles match, a Fatal 4, he’ll bring that same energy no matter what. Trick fights for the people, with his emotions, and he is THE champ! Honestly, if Ethan is being real,. Trick’s the hottest thing going in WWE right now. But this swagger Trick has? Yeah, Ethan’s seen this before. He saw it at Battleground. The match he would’ve won- But he didn’t! He got whooped! So quit wasting everyone’s time and just say what he wants to say. Ethan says he would, if not for Trick rudely interrupting.

The fans taunt Ethan with “YOU GOT WHOOPED!” but Ethan says this swagger, Trick is planning on bringing it to Toronto. Well, this won’t be like in Vegas. This is a Fatal 4 Way! Ethan doesn’t have to beat Trick to win the title, even though he can. He just doesn’t have to now. Trick, the odds in this match are not in your favor. Trick asks Ethan if he really thinks Trick doesn’t know the stakes. Does Ethan think Trick doesn’t know his back is against the wall? Trick’s back has always been against the wall! And he always comes through! The fans cheer that.

Trick says he probably has the least experience of anyone who’s ever held this NXT Championship. But guess what? Trick wears it well. And that is why he grinds so hard, puts in the work. Ethan comes around talking about his résumé, his accolades, his work. Trick’s got a résumé as well. And on Sunday, Trick adds another win to it. Shawn Spears says Trick must love the sound of his own voice, huh? The fans boo but Spears says Trick must believe every word he says. Pure emotion pouring out. Spears disagrees with Ethan, though. He loves this emotion, this swagger. So here’s what Trick should do: Keep doing your thing. Because it’s that swagger that brings Spears the title.

It is Trick’s swagger that got him pinned by Spears last week! Spoilers, Trick. In Toronto, Canada, Spears’ hand will be raised again. The fans boo but Spears says here’s how he sees it. There’s a champion who wears his heart on his sleeve, another guy who feeds his ego, and oh, a 20-year-old kid who is just happy to be here. Je’Von mockingly says, “Oh, oh, 20 year old kid~!” Yeah, yeah, everyone’s used that since Je’Von got here. “This kid” already signs his part! Spears is just saying, we saw in his video earlier, this is Je’Von’s first PLE ever. Je’Von is headlining! But Spears will be right there with him the whole way.

Spears signs his part, and says Je’Von reminds Spears of that one team that makes it to the big one. They make it to the World Series, the NBA Finals, the Superbowl, and they don’t have a shot in hell in winning, but is just happy to be there. Je’Von says what’s crazy is, everyone wants to use age against him like he’s not a threat. But we’ll see about that. NXT, if you hear him, let him hear ya say “YEART~!” “YEART~!” Then is the Young OG nervous? “NO!” Well, Je’Von won’t lie, he is. But is the Young OG excited? “YES!” Yeah he is! Because when he walks into Heatwave, everyone will learn that boy BOUNCY~!

But if we’re talking experience, Spears, let’s talk about how much experience you’ve had holding that title. Oops! He don’t have any. So when Je’Von walks into Heatwave, he will leave NXT Champion, and he’ll show Spears what a champion really looks like. And that’s all love. Je’Von puts his mic down, Spears scowls but he passes the contract over. How does Trick hear about that? Did he just hear all that? Trick says yeah, he did. Trick reaches for the contract but Ethan takes it away. Ethan says Trick may’ve heard Je’Von, but he probably doesn’t like any of that. Ethan signs his part, and says he and Spears have both beaten Je’Von. Can Trick do that?

Ethan’s been in the ring with both Trick and Je’Von, and Ethan will admit, he doesn’t like Trick’s odds. Well, Trick doesn’t like Ethan. And as far as this title goes, it is every man for himself. He ain’t blind, he sees the Young OG, give it up for him. He’s been doing his thing. And yeah, he’s bouncy. But Trick makes one thing clear. Je’Von can do a lot of great things, and Trick likes him a lot. But there is one thing Je’Von can’t do, and that’s take the title from Trick. Spears points out that Je’Von can just pin Ethan and take the title. Ethan counters by saying when he pins Je’Von, Ethan becomes NXT Champion!

Spears says wait, no, because Spears is gonna be champion. Ethan will still be disappointed, and Je’Von will still be too young for this. Je’Von says the kid about to rock his old ass if he keeps it up! Je’Von says Ethan and Spears keep on stirrin’ up drama, and Trick is his dawg, but Sunday, Je’Von is coming for the title. And there ain’t nothing Trick or these two dumbasses can do about it! Spears DECKS Je’Von! And Ethan goes after Trick! The fans boo as the Canadians hit first! Spears throws chairs out of the way, has Je’Von up top and throws hands, but Je’Von gets under! Trick turns things around on Ethan, too!

Trick FLAPJACKS Ethan through a table! Je’Von POWERBOMBS Spears through the other table!! The fans fire up but then Je’Von glances at the gold. Trick sees Je’Von eyeing what’s his and snatches the belt. These two were meant to battle it out 1v1 in the first place, will it come down to them by the end of it? Or will the fire of a Fatal 4 Wat be too much for either of them?

My Thoughts:

A very good go-home to Heatwave, but it also made the already talkative NXT much more talkative. I will say, I kinda dig how they’re doing the Jensen story. HBK sharing Jensen’s apparent downward spiral coupled with his chaotic attempts to get back in the building, there’s some real intrigue into how his character’s changed. The sit-down meeting HBK has asked for will make for a very interesting segment, and I would think/hope Josh Briggs gets involved given their history. Also, powerful stuff from Lola in that promo with Roxie, but sadly Roxie might be right. It just doesn’t feel like Lola’s time, as popular as she is with the NXT regular audience. Roxie could probably cheat to retain while helping in Lola’s Face turn.

Really funny promos from Arianna with Karmen, both to set up Karmen VS Jazmyn and then to set up the tag match for Heatwave. Team Toronto might win, if Karmen and Arianna can find a way to work together. Very good stuff from Stone and Stevie getting on each other’s nerves, good set up for Oro VS Myles. Good promo from NQCC where Dempsey’s logic continues to confuse Kemp. First he wants to be like Tony D, now he doesn’t, what is Kemp to do? Good win for Oro, though, he’ll be primed to face Ethan after Heatwave no matter what happens in the title match.

Very good promo from Chase U to address the controversy Ridge and Duke have been hiding. Riley got fittingly smug about being vindicated, that might come into play later on. At the same time, Axiom and Frazer are still feeling their own dysfunction as Frazer keeps trying to climb the Speed Division ranks. It really comes down to which team can’t get past their issues. Chase U probably loses just to add to this story with Ridge where they just weren’t good enough without his cheating, and then Axiom and Frazer can continue to be at odds about Frazer splitting his focus until something happens closer to SummerSlam season.

Great Street Fight to open the action, but I figured Jaida would win given she’s the NXT talent. Good promo from Good Brothers later to call out OTM, though, and that should be some really good stuff. Maybe Good Brothers win to force a Mixed Six as the blowoff, with Jaida getting another pin on Mia to cape it off. That is to say, I don’t think Nima & Price should be pinning the Good Brothers, at least not in a fair fight. Good match from Brin and Izzi, but I figured Izzi would win. Good bit of Tatum showing up to creep Izzi out, too, as well as the losing streak now getting in Brin’s head and affecting the trio.

Great brawl to “cancel” Gallus VS Tyriek & Tyson, they should raise the stakes and make their tag match Tornado Rules or something. Great tag match from Hank ‘n’ Tank VS New Catch Republic to show Hank ‘n’ Tank do have what it takes. Good match from Carlee and Wendy, but of course Wendy wins again. Good promo from Eddy and Lexis to get on their feud, but I never would’ve thought musical choices would be a motivator. Like many of Lexis’ feuds so far, I’m sure they go back and forth, each winning one, and then we get a No Disqualification type blowoff down the line.

Very good promos from both Kelani and Sol to hype up not just their athletic abilities but also their match. I feel like Sol would’ve already been Women’s North American Champion after Battleground if she was gonna have this title at all, so I would think Kelani retains and Sol moves her way up to the top title. Very good promos from Wes and Oba to do very much the same. Wes wants that title so bad, he probably pushes himself a bit too far and ends up losing, forcing him to move on and finally go for the top title. And speaking of THE NXT title, really good promos from each guy leading to the contract signing. Good promos here, too, though maybe things could’ve been trimmed down a bit. Good brawl, though, but Trick and Je’Von each standing tall, feels like a Canadian finds a way to win in Canada.

My Score: 8.9/10

Andrew’s TNA iMPACT! Results & Match Ratings: 7.4.2024

We find out the last two participants in the Slammiversary 6 way for the Heavyweight Championship tonight!

Published

on

Some of these matches are filling themselves in with the Qualifier matches and that goofy team building thing with Spitfire. Can’t say anything really interesting has kept me invested though. Do I care about Spitfire? Well I enjoy Dani Luna, but the team on a whole, nope. None of the matches look particularly complex or like they have a ton of finish options. So I’m just really curious what this is leading to with only two more shows til Slammiversary.

With the main titles mostly locked in, is there any way to make the remaining card interesting?

Ratings:

  • Trey Miguel w/Zachary Wentz vs Leon Slater: No Contest, Charlie Dempsey interference – ** 1/2
  • 10 Minute Challenge: Dani Luna vs Jody Threat: Draw? No Contest? Who Cares? – * 1/2
  • Slammiversary Qualifier: Frankie Kazarian vs Mike Santana: Kaz wins via Count Out – ** 3/4
  • Eddie & Alisha Edwards w/Brian Myers vs Matt & Reby Hardy: Hardys win via Twists of Fate – ** 1/4
  • Slammiversary Qualifier: Joe Hendry vs Jake Something: Hendry wins via Standing Ovation – *** 1/4

Results:

Trey Miguel w/Zachary Wentz vs Leon Slater

World of Sport-ish open, with chain wrestling and counters but nothing really impressive and frankly kinda boring since every junior heavyweight does the same opening. It’s not until a Back Elbow and then a John Woo Dropkick to eject Trey from his Spiderman Pose in between the ropes. A quick Dive, some early hype has Leon feeling himself, he throws Trey back in and gets caught when he’s trying some offense in the corner. Wentz also gets involved from the outside after the momentum started to turn. Leon tries to fire back, but Trey grabs the locs, stomps the face, goes for a Lionsault but misses. Leon retreats to a corner, Trey chases, Leon Leapfrogs, rope runs and a run through Big Boot keeps things moving for Leon.

Strike exchange spot, of course, a myriad of strikes, they both hit the ropes and Leon catches Trey with a swinging Cutter for a near fall. Trey catches Leon with a flurry of kicks and gets a near fall. Trey went for the Jackie Bryant kick, Leon blocks, goes for a Cradle but Trey kicks out at two, Handspring Pele Kick from Trey, Leon falls back to the corner, Trey goes for a corner attack but gets caught and Blue Thunder Bombed. Leon goes to the top for the Swanton 450, but Charlie Dempsey walks down to the ring and attacks everyone.

10 Minute Challenge: Dani Luna vs Jody Threat

So Stardom Cinderella time limits and we get a knockouts version of what we just saw with the ABC in having a match against each other. Sure the premise is different, but are we out of fresh ideas? Especially since Spitfire is barely established, so a singles match between these two doesn’t carry the same weight as ABC.

A lot of boring feeling out until Dani puts a little more oomph into a Shoulder Tackle, that of course gets returned shortly after from Jody. You can tell TNA doesn’t care a ton about this match because they do a cut to the back since Nic Nemeth got attacked so he’s laid out on the steps for Ryan to find. Jody with clubbing blows in the corner, tries an Exploder Suplex but Jody blocks, switches spots and lands her own clubs into a Suplex. They are really just mirroring each other and this match is doing nothing for me. Jody has a Kneeling Armbar Crossface locked in for a few moments, she kicks Dani into the ropes, looks for her Double Knees into German Suplex spot, but Dani dodges and Jody goes crashing to the outside. Jody gets to the apron before the 10 count, they jockey for position, Jody hangs Dani on the top rope and then kicks her in the head to send her falling to the outside.

They fight a little on the apron, Jody Lariats Dani back into the ring, Jody goes to the top rope, Dani cuts her off, Superplex into Falcon Arrow for only a two count! Time runs out, but its kind of awkward since there’s no visible countdown clock. The girls and crowd call for 5 more minutes, and its apparently enough to restart the match…but Alisha and Masha run down and attack.

Slammiversary Qualifier: Frankie Kazarian vs Mike Santana

Start more classic X Division style, quick charges into Hip Tosses and High Spots that Santana get the best of and Kaz does a Scott Hall esque sell to flop out through the ropes. Santana tries to follow, but Kaz slips back in and lands the Leg Drop and then tosses him off the apron. Now since things are outside of the ring, Kaz is in control, Knife Edge Chops, Scoop Slams, Kaz throws Santana back into the ring and hits the Slingshot Leg Drop for a near fall. Santana tries to slow down Kaz with a Sunset Flip, but Kaz rolls through and then lays out Santana with a Forearm.

Goading slap fight that Kaz mostly gets the better of and turns it into some Double Wristlock Koji Clutch. Santana breaks the hold, they throw strikes a bit, Santana catches Kaz’s foot, hits the Enzuigiri, Kaz responds with a Superkick, Santana rebounds off the ropes, Kaz tries to Leap Frog but Santana catches him and hits a Pop Up Death Valley Driver. Kaz falls back to a corner, Santana with the Senton, but no pinfall. Kaz tries to make space for his Leg Drop, but Santana dodges the first attempt, goes of a Dive, but Kaz intercepts him! Slingshot DDT from Kaz for 2! Kaz tries the Chicken Wing but gets countered, Spin the Block attempt gets countered into a Neckbreaker, follow but a Springboard Leg Drop from Kaz for a near fall. Kaz wants Fade to Black, but Santana slips it, then tries a Cradle, but rolls through, Spin the Block attempt but miss and shove into the ropes. Santana goes for the Rolling Buck Fifty that Kaz counters into a Backstabber then Chicken Wing. Santana manages to turn it into a pinfall to break the submission, finally hits the Rolling Buck Fifty, but Kaz kicks out at 2!

Spin the Block attempt one more time, but JDC comes out to interfere and post Santana. Kaz wins via Count Out and Santana is busted open.

Did PCO just heal SDL by turning her into the Bride of Frankenstein? I’m not sure what I just watched.

Eddie & Alisha Edwards w/Brian Myers vs Matt & Reby Hardy

Reby wants to start against Alisha, and it seems like they’re willing to oblige. Lish powders immediately, hides behind Myers and then slides in to tag in Eddie, and Eddie allows Reby to tag in Matt. Matt pins Eddie in the Hardy corner, Reby grabs Eddie’s hair while Matt clobbers him and then chokes him over the middle rope. Matt holds Eddie so Reby can slap him and then tags in Reby to Dual Stomp Eddie in the corner. Reby tags out back to Matt and Eddie eats an uppercut before starting to fire back with Kobashi style Chops. Matt lines up Eddie in the corner for a Spear, but Eddie bails and Matt posts himself.

After the commercial Eddie is in control, they try to turn the tables on Matt with the wife Slapping from the corner. Eddie tags in Alisha, but Matt throws Eddie out, tags in Reby and Reby finally gets her hands on Lish. It’s a sloppy mess but it also kinda tracks with her personality. Dual Delete Turnbuckles, a sloppy looking Hart Attack for  two on Lish. Eddie manages to get the best of Matt on the outside, Reby tries to go for a rope run, but Eddie picks her ankle and gives Lish an opening. Lish tags in Eddie, Eddie talks shit, Matt tries to protect his wife but Eddie dispatches him, Eddie tags Lish back in and a PK from Lish sends Reby reeling. Reby fights off Lish, but before she can reach Matt, Eddie cuts off the tag to allow for Lish to just smother Reby.

Lish tags Eddie back in, but he doesn’t hit Reby, he just talks smack, tries to cheap shot Matt, but Matt finally counters. A few quick strikes, Vertical Suplex, middle rope Elbow Drop for 2! Matt looks for the Side Effect, Eddie counters, tries the Tiger Driver, but Matt counters with Side Effect! Twist of Fate call from Matt, Myers gets involved and the referee sees it, and kicks him out. Twist of Fate countered into Blue Thunder Bomb for 2. Eddie argues with the referee, exposes the knee for Boston Knee Party but Reby gets in the way, Lish tries to distract the ref, but it backfires, Reby kicks Eddie in the balls, Twist of Fate on Lish and then Matt Twist of Fate on Eddie for the win!

Slammiversary Qualifier: Joe Hendry vs Jake Something

Slow power start until Hendry gets an early pop spot with the Stalling Suplex on Jake. But Jake eats the move and rope runs and runs through Hendry, literally. Two Shoulder Tackles and then just runs into Hendry head first, and our favorite wrestler Joe Hendry, is reeling. Hendry powders, tries to mount some offense but Jake connects with a straight right, slams Jake onto the apron and then a Flying Crossbody into the seated on the apron Hendry. Back in the ring, Lariat into a Power Slam for 2. Hendry tries to find some momentum with a few Uppercuts, but Jake turns it around, okidoke in the corner, he flips Hendry to the apron, Jake hits the ropes to try and Spear Hendry, but Hendry jumps in and a Back Elbow levels Jake. Jake starts getting control back, so Hendry tries locomotion Cradle attempts until Jake’s Forearm cuts that attempt off.

“Something sucks” is a funny crowd chant. It’s so…Philadelphia for many reasons. Back and forth power attempts but Jake gets the best of things with a Michinoku Driver. Hendry kicks out, Jake keeps more clubbing blows across Hendry’s chest, goes for a Rear Naked Choke, but Hendry stands up with Jake on his back and  drops backwards to break it. They head to the outside, Headbutt from Jake, redo the seated apron spot, Jake tries to Crossbody again, but misses and throats himself on the bottom rope! Hendry mows down Jake a few times, Sack of Shit into a Kip Up! Standing Ovation blocked, Axe Handle across the back into a Sitout Powerbomb for 2! Into the Void countered, Back Body Drop countered by Jake, Thesz Press drops Joe, but another Kip Up and they level each other! Jake misses the Splash in the corner, Cutter from Hendry! Standing Ovation! Hendry holds it with one arm for effect, and then wins the match!

Overall Score: 4/10

It took 90 minutes to get a real finish tonight. This was just a nothing burger of a show, 3 non-finishes, Bleach levels of filler crap, an intergender match that no one wanted and the finish was obvious…but at least the main event was solid. It does continue to show the lack of direction TNA always has for Jake Something though…which is frustrating. But the match did make me think, between his arrogant NXT promo, implying Jake was a virgin in the pre-match promo and then posing a little cocky before hitting the Standing Ovation; are we seeing a slow heel turn for Joe Hendry? I mean I get that he’s supposed to be the funny tweener who makes songs that are insulting, like a more comedy oriented Doctor of Thuganomics. But the mannerisms felt much more heelish tonight.

Maybe I’m over analyzing since the episode was useless. But it’s at least something to ponder going into next week.

The Infantry speaks.

Carlie Bravo makes sure the camera is live, and says looking good. Bad News & Tattoos is here, as is Captain Shawn Dean, and who better to host the Independence Day edition of ROH than The Infantry? It feels so good, they’ll be hosting the entire show, and who better than two-thirds of the most popular team in AEW & ROH? Shoutout to Trish Adora, she is handling solo missions. But they are here, celebrating the day Will Smith saved every single person on Earth! Dean corrects Bravo. That is not what this is about. Oh, sorry, Bravo thought it was the other thing. This is about what happened in 1773: The Boston Tea Party! The moment that started the whole American Revolution!

But tonight, instead of throwing tea into the harbor, we’ve got people throwing each other over the top rope, body slamming in the ring. It’s gonna be a party! A cookout even! And this is a cookout everyone’s invited to! But please, no raisins in potato salad, no one does that here. But hey, they’re bringing the fireworks tonight, in the best place wrestling’s ever been in, ROH! So stay tuned, don’t go anywhere!

Unified AEW & ROH World Trios Championships Proving Ground: The Bang Bang Gang VS The Dark Order!

Juice Robinson & The Gunns roll into Allentown for the Fourth of July to put the Trios Division to the test! Will Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds & John Silver prove #DarkOrderIsGood enough to fight for the gold? Or will it be #GunsUp for Bullet Club Gold?

The trios sort out and and Austin starts against Uno. The two tie up, Austin headlocks but Uno powers out to headlock back. Austin powers out, Uno ducks ‘n’ dodges then whips, but Austin ducks ‘n’ dodges back. Austin trips Uno and then swaggers. Austin brings Uno up, headlocks but Uno powers up and out. Austin RAMS Uno, but Uno rebounds to RAM Austin! Austin rebounds to RAM, Uno rebounds to RAM again! Uno then redirects to run Austin over! Things speed up, Austin shouts “Watch this!” but Uno catches him for an atomic drop! Uno calls to his guys, and then he bumps Austin off their boots!

Tag to Silver, and Silver tags Reynolds. They get Austin up and the fans rally for “JOHNNY HUNGY!” But Juice & Colten run in to attack! They save Austin, then the gang mugs the Dark Order. They whip the Dark Order to corners, then say Guns Up. The Bang Bang Gang all run in, but the Dark Order all dodges! Austin, Colten & Juice get buckles, and then the Dark Order climbs up to rain down fists! Fans count all the way to TEN, so it’s more like thirty! Then Dark Order sends the gang all into each other! Austin staggers about, Uno & Reynolds reset! Silver gets moving, to hop up so they can all flex!

The fans cheer but Juice gets in to doggy pee on them! Reynolds gets mad, chases Juice around the outside, and then back inside! Juice says he’s too smart for Reynolds, only for Reynolds to TOSS him out! Austin CLOBBERS Reynolds, tags Colten, and Colten stomps Reynolds in the corner. The fans boo, the ref counts, but Colten says shut up! Colten mocks the Dark Order claw, then he drags Reynolds up. Colten snap suplexes, covers, TWO! Colten is annoyed but he drags Reynolds up. The fans rally for “Sexy Alex!” but Colten DECKS him! Colten says HE is sexy, swivels his hips, and Juice sucker punches Reynolds while the ref isn’t looking!

Colten calls to his corner, and he tags in Juice. Colten stomps Reynolds, Austin gets fans to join in a chant of “Guns Up! Guns Up!” Colten scoops Reynolds to SLAM him, Juice sets up to SENTON! Cover, Uno breaks it! Uno mocks Juice with swiveling hips then backs away. Juice shows off his swivel, but Reynolds rolls him up! TWO, and Juice CLOBBERS Reynolds! Juice drags Reynolds to a cover, TWO! Juice clamps on with a chinlock and he grinds Reynolds down. The fans rally up, Reynolds fights to his feet, and Reynolds pries the hold open to arm-drag Juice away! But Reynolds is still in enemy territory!

Juice runs up, Reynolds BOOTS him! Then Reynolds ELBOWS Colten, ELBOWS Austin, but Juice LEG LARIATS! Cover, TWO! Juice is furious already but he stays between Reynolds and The Dark Order. Juice sucker punches Silver, gets Reynolds up then whips, but Reynolds reverses to wrench and STRAITJACKET NECKBREAKER! Reynolds crawls, Juice anchors a foot! Juice can’t hold Reynolds so he hurries to his corner, hot tags to Austin and Uno! Uno rallies on Austin and Colten! Uno ELBOWS Colten in one corner, runs corner to corner to ELBOW Austin! Uno comes back to LARIAT Colten! Uno UPPERCTS Austin!

Uno SPLASHES Colten, UPPERCUTS Austin, then UPPERCUTS Colten! Austin dodges Uno this time, regroups with his brother, but Silver tags in! Silver climbs up to DOUBLE CROSSBODY! The fans fire up as both Gunns flounder! Juice runs in but Silver trips him! Juice ends up on ropes, Silver runs in again, and so do Uno & Reynolds! BOOT DOUBLE DROPKICK COMBO! The fans fire up and Silver drags Austin up, for a GERMAN SUPLEX! Cover, TWO! Austin survives but Silver hurries to tag Uno. Uno tags Reynolds and they set Austin up again! The fans fire up, Silver gets moving, but Juice trips Silver!

Juice drags Silver out to the floor then gets on the apron. Uno runs in but Juice DUMPS him out! Reynolds runs up to LARIAT Juice back down! The fans fire up but Austin rolls Reynolds, TWO! POP-UP KNEE from Reynolds! Reynolds LARIATS in the corner, whips corner to corner, but Austin goes up and over! Colten slips in, 3:10 TO YUMA!! Cover, Bang Bang Gang wins!

Winners: Bang Bang Gang, by pinfall (denies The Dark Order a title opportunity)

The Bullet Club Gold’s gold is safe for another day! But with Christian Cage & The Patriarchy tailing them from the AEW side, will the Bang Bang Gang still have to face Death Before Dishonor?

The Infantry checks back in.

Bravo says, “Just like the ROH bell rings to signify the beginning and the end of a match, in 1776, the Liberty Bell was ringing. Do you know what it signified to all of Philadelphia, brother?” Capt. Dean asks what did it signify? Bravo says it signified the signing of The Declaration of Independence! “Officially saying all men were created equal.” Dean says that is for sure. And just like a bell ringing at the beginning and end of a match, there are a couple more great matches tonight. Any singles matches? Yes, Wheeler Yuta VS Lee Moriarty in an ROH Pure Championship Proving Ground match.

And what about tag matches? Well, yeah. What’s the huff ‘n’ puff about then? Well, there’s Metalik y Komander. Yeah, those guys are cool, Bravo loves ’em. But they’re against The Kingdom. Oh, those guys… Bravo doesn’t like them. Neither does Dean. Bravo would love to punch those guys. And he reveals he’s wearing armored gauntlets! Where’d he get those? He found them. Do you think John Adams ever knocked someone’s teeth out with these? Bravo would love to do that to The Kingdom! Dean says let’s get back to the action.

CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE!

For those who haven’t heard, it was just last Friday that Kyle Fletcher visited Arena Mexico to take on CMLL’s Atlantis Jr. in a match for the ROH World Television Championship. And perhaps shockingly, Fletcher LOST that title to Atlantis Jr! But Fletcher told Atlantis that next time, they’ll do it on Fletcher’s turf, AKA in an ROH ring. When and where will we see these two go another round?

Backstage interview with Athena & Billie Starkz.

Lexy Nair is with her bestie and fellow Minion, and the ROH Women’s World Champion asks them if they feel this. Do they feel all of this? This is what safety is! Their own locker room, their own security, and even a new standout Minion In Training, a former ROH TV Champion guy! Tony Deppen thanks Athena but she shouts at him, Don’t talk! Billie says yeah, learn the rules, bud. Athena says this is how they should be treated: as royalty! This… is interrupted by Red Velvet & Queen Aminata walking in. And they agree, this really is nice. They came with great news! They spoke with The Board of Directors, and it is now official!

At Death Before Dishonor, it will be Billie Starkz VS Red Velvet for the ROH Women’s Television Championship! Billie says fine, take your shot. And Aminata addresses “Ms. Athena,” that while this is going to hurt, it will still be Athena VS Aminata for THE ROH Women’s World Championship! What? Do they see this? Aminata is so dumb! Athena is not medically cleared, and they still think they’re getting a match! Athena’s group laughs it up, but then Aminata & Velvet mockingly laugh back. Didn’t Lexy get the email from management? Go ahead, read it, let them know. Oh, does bestie have something to day?

Athena pulls Lexy in close, and Lexy nervously laughs. Lexy says at first, it looked like a scam email, but upon reading it… Yes, it was Tony Khan saying it is official. Aminata & Velvet say bye, get well soon. But Athena isn’t cleared…! Athena shouts for Tony Khan and then storms off on her crutches! Is The Fallen Goddess being cheated? Or is this Tony Khan calling her bluff?

The Infantry checks back in.

Bravo wants Dean to look and see, they’re in DC! How’d they get here? But fun fact: the nation’s capital moved from Philadelphia to Washington DC way back in the day. Dean said that was 1800. Yes, and that is also Bravo’s favorite tequila brand. Crazy, huh? But DC is not only the home to the nation’s capital, but to the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, the White House, go-go music, mambo sauce, Nike boots, New Balance, and on and on. It’s America’s Honor Club. Guess they run that, too. And fans know that, because they’re watching Honor Club right now! Fans can go back and rewatch countless hours of Infantry kicking ass the American way!

But enough of them, go watch more of ROH action! See you in a second.

ROH World Tag Team Championships Proving Ground: The Kingdom VS Metalik & Komander w/ Alex Abrahantes!

Well just as The Infantry hyped up earlier tonight, we’re going to see Matt Taven & Mike Bennett taking on two great luchadores who are chasing after gold. But there’s also some history here via Taven’s time in Mexico. Taven was once the Welterweight Champion, who could handle heavyweights but could not keep up with the Cruiserweights! Will that get him in trouble again tonight? Or can Taven & Bennett hold it together for ten minutes?

The Code of Honor is upheld, the teams sort out, and Taven starts against the AAA World Cruiserweight Champion. They circle, Taven mouths off to fans but Komander applauds the fans. The two tie up, Taven shoves Komandor away but avoids the dropkick! Taven stomps Komander, and says that’s for the idiot fans! Then Taven CHOPS Komander, taunts the fans again, then whips. Komander handsprings over the dropdown but Taven kicks low. Taven whips Komander to a corner hard, then SPLASHES! Taven whips again, but Komander dodges the splash! Komander clotheslines, UPPERCUTS, ROLLING ELBOWS, then ENZIGIRIS!

The fans fire up with Komander and he goes corner to corner. Taven puts Komander on the apron, but Komander RAMS back into him. Komander springboards to FLYING RANA! The fans fire up again and Kmoander runs up. Wheelbarrow, but Taven RAMS Komander right into the corner! Taven CHOPS, but Komander fires back! Komander hits Bennett, too, but Taven knees low! Tag to Bennett, and Taven sends Komander into the BIG forearm! Bennett hauls Komander up, Taven back suplexes, but Komander lands out! Komander dodges the double lariat to hot tag Metalik! And Metalik springboards to DOUBLE CROSSBODY!

The fans fire up as Metalik fires off kick after kick on The Kingdom. Metalik runs, The Kingdom sets up, but Metalik KICKS their back drop away! Metalik then dodges Bennett, only for Bennett to kick low. Bennett says to slow down, then he whips Metalik to a corner. Bennett runs in but Metalik BOOTS him away, then SLING-DOGS! The fans fire up, Bennett goes up and around the ropes to MISSILE DROPKICK! Cover, Taven breaks it! Komander CLUBS Taven, whips, but Taven reverses to TOSS Komander. Komander lands safe on the apron and Taven runs up, only for Komander to DUMP him out!

Bennett runs up but Komander TOSSES him! The fans fire up as Komander holds the way open, Metalik DIVES! Down goes both Taven & Bennett, and then Metalik sets The Kingdom up for Komander’s TOP ROPE TORNILLO! The fans are all fired up and Komander salutes! The luchadores get Bennett up and into the ring. Metalik goes up a corner, but Taven lurks! Metalik leaps, Bennett moves! Taven is in, POP-UP BOSTON BAYONET! Bennett then basement dropkicks! The fans rally but Bennett brings Metalik over. Tag to Taven, they stomp away, throw some knees, and then Taven CHOPS!

Taven fires hands, tags Bennett, and Bennett digs his boots in! The ref counts, Bennett drags Metalik up and DECKS him! Bennett drags Metalik back up, tags Taven in, but Metalik fights back! Metalik goes up and leaps, but no Code Breaker! Bennett CATAPULTS Metalik into Taven’s GAMANGIRI! Metalik falls back onto Bennett’s knees, and Taven adds an ELBOW DROP! Cover, TWO!! Metalik survives and we hit the five minute mark! Bennett tags in, he and Taven double whip. Bennett runs in to ROCK Metalik, Taven runs up but Metalik TOSSES him out! Metalik goes up but Bennett ROCKS him!

Metalik and Bennett brawl, forearms and CHOPS back and forth! Bennett ROCKS Metalik again, climbs up, but Metalik fights the superplex! Metalik fires body shots, then goes up and over to FLYING SUNSET BOMB! The fans fire up while both men are down! Both men crawl for their corners, hot tags to Taven and Komander! Komander slingshots in but Taven kicks low. Taven whips, Metalik slides under, and Bennett gets in. Taven pops Komander up but he MISSILE DROPKICKS Bennett! Taven is mad but Komander drop toeholds him onto ropes! Komander YANKS Taven back, Tiger Feint and somersault, but Taven turns wheelbarrow into gut wrench!

But then Komander turns gut wrench into TORNADO DDT! Komander kips up and the fans fire up! Komander scrapes Bennett off the apron then goes up the corner. Komander takes aim and tightrope walks, CIELITO LINDO!! Cover, BENNETT BREAKS IT! Bennett hauls Komander up and in, but Komander TOSSES him out! Hot tag to Metalik! The King of Ropes CLUBS Taven, he and Komander double whip. Double HIP TOSS, then the assisted MOONSAULT! Cover, TWO!! Taven survives, and Bennett drags Komander out! Bennett RAMS Komander hard into railing! Metalik whips Taven but Taven reverses.

Metalik ducks ‘n’ dodges to SUPERKICK! Metalik keeps moving, but Bennett catches him! ROCKSTAR SUPERNOVA!! Cover, Kingdom wins!

Winners: The Kingdom, by pinfall (denies Metalik & Komander a title opportunity)

Taven overcomes cruiserweights with the help of his heavyweight tag partner! But then they add insult to injury by mugging Metalik! Bennett goes out to RAM Komander back into railing! The fans boo but Bennett tells them to shove it! Taven scrapes Metalik out of the ring, and the self-professed best team in the industry certainly has the worst attitude. But will nothing stop them from dominating ROH as in days of old?

A new team is on the scene!

“This is Mason Madden. This is Mansoor.” Mason is the Mahogany Hunk, the Height of Fashion, and “Mother.” Mansoor is the Sultan of Suave, the Iron Chic, and The Man Who Makes You Soar. Yes, ROH, you can shine, with the MXM Collection.

The Infantry checks in again.

They’ve made it. They arrived at Mount Rushmore! That is a sixty foot sculpture of American presidential greatness right there. The top one percent, and very impressive. There’s Washington, Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and of course, “Uncle” Abe Lincoln. He did that! Emancipation! Bravo likes this, glad they’re here, but it feels like it is missing something, right? A little something something. Oh, hey, check it! They add themselves to it! Rushmore? If they were really up there, Bravo would rush less! But just like those great men, there are a lot of great men and women competing on Friday, July 26th, Death Before Dishonor in Arlington, Texas!

Make sure you tune into that! It’ll be free on Honor Club, but you can get tickets right now at ROHTIX.com, the ESports Stadium! Whatever you need! And thank you for joining this Independence Day edition of ROH, time to go watch Independence Day with Will Smith. See you right back here, next week on ROH, and the week after that, and the week after that. And hopefully at some point, big championship straps. Now, how to send them home? Like this. Have no fear, The Infantry is here! Copy that! But stay tuned for the main event! Time to go climb the mountain!

ROH Pure Championship Proving Ground: Wheeler Yuta VS Lee Moriarty!

The Decoder has finally returned to ROH after getting back in action with the Blackpool Combat Club in AEW. But will he be ready to get right back into the swing of things in the Pure Division? Or will #TAIGASTYLE sink his Fang right into the champ?

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and we’re on the clock. Pure Rules are still part of this, so each man is only allowed three ropebreaks, and no closed fists to the face. The two circle, tie up, and go around. Lee wrenches, hammerlocks, but Yuta trips Lee to a toehold. Lee fights around, the fans duel, and Lee reels Yuta in for a headlock. Lee hits the takeover, Yuta headscissors but Lee kips free. Roles reverse as Yuta headlocks for the takeover and Lee headscissors. Yuta kips free, Lee headlocks again, but Yuta brings Lee to his knees and rolls up and over Lee to get free! Yuta then basement dropkicks Lee and the fans cheer!

Yuta keeps close to Lee, covers, ONE! Yuta stays on Lee with a cravat and the fans duel more. Lee endures, fights up, and he tries to bring Yuta down. Yuta stays up, Lee tries a swim move. Yuta holds on tight, but Lee powers Yuta to ropes and snapmares. But Yuta holds on! Lee tries again, but Yuta still holds on! Lee tries a third time, swim moves free, but Yuta KNEES Lee to DDT! Cover, TWO! Lee stays in this but Yuta stalks him to ropes. Yuta brings Lee around to CHOP! The fans “WOO~!” but Lee pushes Yuta. Yuta stomps Lee to a corner, then CHOPS again! Lee headlocks, Yuta powers out but Lee handsprings over.

Lee taunts Yuta, dodges him, then BOOTS him down! And basement dropkicks in return! Fans are torn as Lee stalks Yuta. Lee stomps Yuta, but Yuta gets up to CHOP! Lee UPPERCUTS Yuta down! Lee covers, TWO! Lee stays after Yuta with a hammerlock, and he traps that arm. Lee pulls on the other, the fans rally as Yuta fights, but Lee pushes the elbow! Lee mockingly claps with Yuta’s hand, then bends the fingers! Yuta endures as Lee pulls and twists and then uses the arm to recline! Yuta suffers, ends up in a cover, TWO!! Lee is annoyed, but he stomps Yuta down. The fans rally, and Yuta RAMS into Lee!

Lee Mongolian Chops Yuta down, then he clamps on with a straitjacket stretch! Lee taunts Yuta, and we’re already four minutes in. Yuta fights up, the fans rally again, and Yuta powers free, only for Lee to put him right back in! Yuta fights up again and the fans rally. Yuta bridges, then spins the jacket onto Lee! But Lee spins it right back onto Yuta! Lee HEADBUTTS Yuta again and again and again! Yuta sputters, but Lee pulls him back! Yuta rolls through and pops free, to then HAMMER ‘N’ ANVIL ELBOW away on Lee! The fans fire up and Lee scrambles to the ROPEBREAK! That’s his first, and we’re at five minutes!

Yuta runs up but Lee ELBOWS him away! And then UPPERCUTS him down! Lee pushes to a cover, TWO! Yuta gets out of that but Lee waits on him. Time is also on Lee’s side, but the fans are on Yuta’s. Lee waistlocks, but Yuta switches. Lee arm-drags free, Yuta rewinds then dodges Lee! Yuta hurries and DIVES! Direct hit and Lee tumbles to the ramp! The fans fire up and Yuta hurries after Lee. Time is ticking away but Yuta puts Lee in. Yuta runs up, gets around, and GERMAN SUPLEXES! Bridging cover, TWO! Yuta huffs ‘n’ puffs, seeing the clock is already under four minutes remaining! Yuta hurries to wrench, but Lee fights the lift!

Lee wrenches and bends fingers, but then Yuta returns the favor! Lee CLUBS free, but Yuta ROCKS Lee! Lee BOOTS back, runs up, tilt-o-whirl, LA MYSTICA! Into the BORDER CITY STRETCH!! Yuta flails, reaches out, and there’s three minutes left! Yuta fights his way over to a ROPEBREAK! That is Yuta’s first, and the fans rally up while both men are down. Lee scuffs Yuta with kicks and Yuta goes to the apron. Yuta shakes his head and rises up. Lee storms up and HIP- NO, Yuta arm-drags to counter, then reels Lee into the SEAT- NO, Lee slips free to the BORDER CITY STRETCH!! But Yuta makes it a cradle, TWO!!

Lee gets up, Yuta steps over, but then Lee steps over! They RAM heads, then they both DECK each other with forearms! The fans fire up as we hit the two minute warning! Lee stirs, the fans rally up again, and Yuta huffs ‘n’ puffs as he rises up. Lee shakes out the stars, runs in to LA MYSTIC- NO! Yuta blocks, has a gut wrench, HANGING CLOVERLEAF! Lee slips down to victory roll! TWO and Yuta has it! TWO, and Lee has a wristlock clutch! TWO but Lee just reels Yuta in for a EURO CLUTCH! TWO!!! Yuta escapes and we’re at the final minute! Lee sunset flips, Yuta stays standing and powers through to a sunset flip! TWO and Lee has it! TWO!

Yuta has it, TWO! Lee has it back, TWO! Yuta! ONE! LEE! ONE! YUTA! ONE! They go back and forth, ONE, ONE, ONE again and again! The fans fire up as they just keep going back and forth, ONE! ONE! ONE! THIRTY SECONDS LEFT!! Yuta has Lee down again, TWO!! Both men stand and throw hands at TWENTY seconds! The fans fire up as neither man backs down! The final TEN seconds!! The fans are counting down as the forearms keep going! TIME IS UP!!

Time Limit Draw; Lee Moriarty earns a title opportunity

Yuta wanted to cross Lee off the list, but now he and Lee will have to go one more round! Yuta holds up the Pure Championship belt now, but Lee has Shane Taylor & Anthony Ogogo backing him up. The Decoder says discretion is the better part of valor, because he’ll definitely see #TAIGASTYLE again. Will Yuta take Death Before Dishonor? Or will Lee just take that belt for his own?

My Thoughts:

A very good ROH this week, mostly because it was shorter at 47 minutes, but also because it was a nice, patriotic lesson of American history with The Infantry. There was apparently a match of Diamante VS Vanessa Kraven advertised for tonight but they apparently swapped that out for the Unified World Trios Championship Proving Ground. Maybe Diamante VS Kraven will be on next week’s episode. And we got a good promo segment to give us the ROH Women’s World and ROH Women’s TV Championship matches we knew were happening. Athena is of course upset that she’ll have to wrestle “hurt,” but pretty sure that means her “injury” is fished out as fake.

Great Proving Ground matches for the show. Dark Order looked really good but even with Juice tagging in for White, Bang Bang Gang still came out on top. Obviously, Patriarchy will get the title shot, just not sure if it’ll be on Death Before Dishonor. It should be, it’d get eyes on ROH and maybe even get some people to sign up for Honor Club. The Kingdom VS Komander & Metalik was great, came close to the time limit, but I figured The Kingdom was gonna win. As great as Komander & Metalik are, it feels like ROH is still slowly building up other teams. Also, what a great surprise that the former Maximum Male Models are coming to ROH, they’ll be a lot of fun in this tag division.

And of course, a great Pure Championship style Proving Grounds. In just those ten minutes, Yuta and Lee reminded everyone why they’re some of the best young wrestlers out there and they were even holding back. A proper Pure Championship match between these two is going to be great, might even be a show stealer, and I could see Lee winning that belt. Yuta had it the whole time he was out hurt, I feel like he can easily move on to something else while Lee freshens up the Pure Division.

My Score: 8.7/10
