It was announced during Monday’s Raw that on October 28, 2018, WWE will be airing the first all women PPV in the company’s history and will feature the women’s rosters from all three of WWE’s Brands: RAW, SmackDown, and NXT. On top of that, it will also feature the finals of the Mae Young Classic. Triple H has also promised that legends like Trish Stratus and Lita will be there, though it’s not mentioned how they will be used.

As I’ve stated before, all women wrestling PPVs are hardly new. TNA has done several over the years, but WWE is certainly the biggest wrestling company I can think of that is doing an all women PPV.

As much fun as it would be to speculate on a possible card, with Evolution being three months away and the second biggest PPV on the WWE PPV calendar coming up, I won’t do that, but here’s how I think WWE should do it.

1. No male onscreen talent allowed. Yes, it’s petty, and no, I don’t care. If WWE is serious about doing an all women PPV, it needs to be ALL women. That means female commentators, backstage interviewers, ring announcers, the whole shebang. If I really felt like being petty, I would say that the boys couldn’t even be shown in the audience, just to show that the women don’t need their presence to validate this show.

2. Have some dream matches. After the women tore it down in their Royal Rumble match, there’s been talk about dream matches that could happen. Trish vs Sasha or Trish vs Charlotte were two I’ve heard a few times.

3. Have long matches. One of the biggest hurdles the Women’s Division has always faced is the lack of time given to them by Vince. The excuse has usually been that since there are so many more guys than girls that there just isn’t enough time for them to have a lot of matches or time for the matches they do get, which falls flat when mediocre low card matches get more time than the women. WWE doesn’t have that excuse with Evolution. There’s no reason why each title match shouldn’t go 15 minutes.

4. Introduce other titles. WWE introducing secondary and tag team titles for the women’s division was rumored to be what the big announcement was, but since the announcement of Evolution was such a big deal, the addition of new titles would’ve been lost in the shuffle. However, I do think that we will hear that announcement as we get closer to October.

5. Use every woman. This is another ‘WWE has no excuses’ situation. Triple H has said that 50 women will be involved, which means that there’s no excuse for women like Alicia Fox, Dana Brooke, Naomi, Sonya Deville, and Mandy Rose from being involved in some way.

6. Treat this like it’s going to be a regular part of the PPV calendar.  It would very easy for this to be treated as a one off. There are certainly a lot of male fans that are hoping that it is because the idea of WWE replacing a B-PPV with one for the women is just too much to bear. Never mind that WWE has twelve PPVs a year and 104 TV shows a year (52 for RAW, 52 for SmackDown) where the women get a very small amount of the TV time for their storylines, there has to be 12 PPVs where the male talent are showcased. If WWE is really serious about this PPV, it needs to be treated like this is going to become an annual thing instead of just a one-off.

Overall, I think most fans have high hopes for this PPV, I know I certainly do, and I hope WWE does this right and this doesn’t end up looking like a publicity stunt or  like they’re trying to placate the wrestling PC police after the uproar over the Greatest Royal Rumble. If WWE’s going to do this, let’s do it right.
