But waiting on the other side of that epic clash will be another challenge! HPW has opened the door to both the men and women of its roster in an innovative take on the battle royal! Thirty-three of the best wrestlers in the world will enter the Hyrule Coliseum, but only one leaves as a true Hyrule Warrior! HPW Clash of Fates starts NOW!
HPW Trios Championships: Forged By Violence VS Desert Flowers!
September brought the Fall, but Aveil, Bularia and Riju still bloomed and won the Trios Contenders Tournament as hometown heroes! But will Iron Knuckle and the Dark Nuts trample all over their hopes and dreams now that they’re inside the coliseum?
The Desert Flowers wear new, brightly colored ring gear while the champions have merely shined up the armor they wear as part of their entrance. The introductions are made, the belts are raised, and history is also on the line as we begin!
The teams sort out and we begin with Iron Knuckle and Bularia. Fans rally up already as the two circle. They tie up, are in a deadlock for a few seconds, but Knuckle manages to use leverage to push Bularia to a corner. The referee counts but Bularia goes up the corner to get leverage back. She pushes off and they swing around, and Bularia pushes Knuckle to the corner now! The ref counts again, Bularia lets off, and she motions for Knuckle to come out. Knuckle circles with Bularia again and calls for a test of strength. Bularia approaches and they knuckle lock, but Knuckle kicks Bularia low! Knuckle uses that knuckle lock to wrangle Bularia into a high keylock and to the mat.
Bularia’s shoulders are down, ONE as she bridges! Bularia handsprings back and arm-drags Knuckle away, Knuckle gets up but narrowly avoids a roundhouse kick! The two stand off and the fans cheer. Knuckle backs away to his corner and tags in Red Nut. Bularia also backs away, and tags in Aveil. Aveil and Red Nut circle as fans rally up again. They tie up, Aveil gets around to a waistlock but Red Nut sprawls to block any lift. Red Nut pries the hold apart, standing switches, and TOSSES Aveil to an open corner! Red Nut runs in, Aveil rolls under, Red Nut hits buckles and Aveil handspring backs to back elbow Red Nut. Aveil snapmares and rolls with Red Nut then runs and rebounds to BASEMENT METEORA! Cover, TWO!
Aveil keeps moving but Red Nut avoids the basement dropkick. Red Nut drops an elbow but Aveil dodges that. She runs, ducks and dodges Red Nut’s clotheslines to roll up onto his shoulders and sunset flip over. Cover, ONE, Aveil dodges Red Nut again, tilt-o-whirls and headscissors Red Nut onto ropes! Aveil runs, but Red Nut intercepts the tiger feint kick with a big body tackle! Red Nut drags Aveil over and tags in Blue Nut. They stomp a double mudhole into Aveil but stop when the ref counts 4. Blue Nut drags Aveil up and wraps her up in a bearhug. Aveil endures the squeeze, even as Blue Nut thrashes her around. Aveil pushes Blue Nut’s face, throws in elbows, but Blue Nut squeezes tighter.
Fans rally as Aveil endures more. Aveil digs her elbow into Blue Nut’s shoulder, throws forearm shots on Blue Nut’s head, then bell claps the ears! Blue Nut lets go, Aveil staggers to the Desert Flower corner, hot tag to Riju! Riju climbs up fast and leaps to missile dropkick Blue Nut! Fans fire up as Riju watches Blue Nut stagger but stay up. Aveil sunset flips, Blue Nut rolls through but she avoids his basement boot to roll him up, with a bridge! TWO and Blue Nut sunset flips, TWO, and Aveil DOUBLE STOMPS him down! Cover, TWO!!
Aveil traps Blue Nut’s arms and clamps on a chinlock. Blue Nut endures, pries at the hold, Red Nut gets in but the ref keeps him back. This distracts the ref from seeing Knuckle get in and stomp Aveil from behind! Fans boo as Knuckle bails out and gets away with it. Blue Nut gets up, fireman’s carries Aveil, and runs to hit a CORNER DEATH VALLEY DRIVER! Knuckle tags in, Red Nut gets in with him, and the Darknuts drag Aveil up. Knuckle runs to ropes as the Darknuts lift Aveil, but Bularia holds the ropes down! Knuckle tumbles out to the floor, Riju attacks the Darknuts and saves Aveil from the double spine buster.
Aveil and Riju fire off forearms and kicks, then whip the Darknuts. The Darknuts reverse, Bularia tags in off Aveil before Aveil and Riju crossbody! The Darknuts both catch Aveil and Riju, they both throw Aveil and Riju up and over but Aveil and Riju both land on their feet. Aveil and Riju shove the Darknuts into Bularia’s springboard double missile dropkick! Riju and Aveil throw Red Nut out and Bularia covers Blue Nut, TWO! The Desert Flowers regroup at their corner, Bularia tags Riju in and Bularia drags Blue Nut up. Riju hops up while Bularia double chicken wings Blue Nut. Bularia lifts but Blue Nut resists. Blue Nut standing switches and shoves Bularia at the corner but Riju leaps over, into Blue Nut’s arms! This time, Blue Nut hits the FALL AWAY SLAM!
Bularia goes after Blue Nut but the ref reprimands. Iron Knuckle drags Aveil off the apron and whips her into railing! Red Nut gets in and clobbers Bularia from behind. Blue Nut goes after Riju while Red Nut throws Bularia out. The Darknuts stomp Riju in the FBV corner while the ref counts and they stop at 4 again. Knuckle regroups with the Darknuts, tags in, and they bring Riju up. Knuckle gets in Riju’s face and shouts, “Now, you must die!” Knuckle runs, the Darknuts both lift Riju, DOUBLE SPINE BUSTER BACKSTABBER!! Or as they now call it, HAMMER AND ANVIL!! Knuckle covers while the Darknuts keep the other Desert Flowers out, Forged By Violence wins!
Winners: Forged By Violence, by pinfall (still HPW Trios Champions)
The Desert Flowers brought the fight to the champions but could not conquer the iron will of the Iron Knuckle and Darknuts! But wait, what’s this? Entering on stage is Tingle! And Skull Kid, with a polished and shiny skull mask. They look very confident as they stand there with hands on their hips. FBV has no idea what’s going on as Tingle gets a mic to speak. “Congratulations, Forged By Violence. You are still Hyrule Pro-Wrestling Trios Champions. BUT!” Tingle holds up a finger to the sky. Skull Kid echoes the “BUT!” and copies the pose. Tingle continues to say that they are going to change all of that!
FBV laughs and points out that there’s only two of them. You can’t challenge for Trios Championships as only a duo. Yes, Tingle and Skull Kid know. That’s why they have… GROOSE! The Skyloft Stud joins Tingle and Skull Kid on stage and the fans are definitely surprised. Tingle smoothly hands the mic over to Groose. “Iron Knuckle. Red Nut. Blue Nut. You guys are big, but are you studs? You guys are strong, but are you studs? You guys are mean, but are you studs?!” Groose doesn’t think so. “Tingle! Skull Kid! Groose! We’re studs! And we officially challenge you for those HPW Trios Championships! We are… The Studly Guys!” Groose, Skull Kid and Tingle line up single file by height, and all strike the same double gun pose.
But then someone back suplexes Groose! Skull Kid and Tingle turn around, to get a BOOT and a LARIAT, respectively but not respectfully! Who are these guys?! One in armor, not unlike what Iron Knuckle and the Darknuts wear, a beastly minotaur, and a bulky Lizalfos also wearing armor. The knockoff Knuckle picks up the mic from the ground and glares at FBV. “Knuckle…! Long time no see. You thought you left me behind in obscurity, didn’t you? Joining HPW like you did.” But he’s here now! And he’s brought some old friends! The champions may be Forged By Violence, but they will still break! “For we are officially… The DOOM BRINGERS!” Three new names and another new trio joins HPW, but who are they? And what are they to Iron Knuckle?
HPW Men’s Division Championship No Champion’s Advantage Match: Ghirahim VS Igos du Ikana!
Why is that the name of this match? Because the name of this title keeps changing! At first, it was the HPW Death Mountain Championship in honor of a Hyrule natural landmark. The Living Blade thinks he should reign as the HPW Exquisite Champion, but now the Ruler of Ruin wants to revive the belt of TCW! With disqualifications and count-outs no longer protected, will we finally see a true champion emerge?
Ghirahim enters first, wearing a black variation of his usual attire. He holds up his title as he walks down the ramp so that everyone gets “a good look at THE REAL Men’s Division title!” Igos enters, still wearing the same outfit, and the Ikana Royal Family as his posse. Stal-Kid holds up the TCW Championship as the group heads down the way. Captain Keeta holds the ropes for Igos as he enters, and Stal-Kid hops up onto the corner to hold the TCW belt even higher. Ghirahim protests that the Ikana Royal Family was the problem last time, he wants them to leave ringside so this is truly fair. Captain Keeta again joins commentary, despite Ghirahim’s protests, but Stal-Kid and the knights, Sir Hurr and Sir Durr, return to the back.
The ring announcer gives proper explanation to the crowd about this match, and gives proper introductions for the two tentative champions. Both belts are raised, and a true clash of fates begins!
Ghirahim still shouts at Captain Keeta on commentary and Keeta asks the others what they did to upset him. Rusl explains it’s Keeta he’s upset with, and Keeta is confused as to why. Osphala then moves aside, and officials begin an award ceremony. Nicolas Foolyere, Humback Hook Halibut and Starfish McMaguro are all present as an HPW banner is presented and a very special trophy is put in the ring. Wait, is that the mysterious pedestal from the Lost Woods? The one Tingle found? How did HPW get it from there to here? Well, whatever they did, the King of Hyrule has a mic to speak.
“Congratulations, Link of Kakariko! You are the first ever winner of the Hyrule Warriors match! Please, accept this as your prize.” Link is a little confused as Foolyere motions to the pedestal. Link goes to pick it up but Foolyere stops him and tells him to grab the sword. Link grabs, well, the grip of the hilt, and pulls. There’s a little resistance, and some glowing light coming out of the pedestal, but Link pulls the sword from the stone! Everyone, including HPW management and Link, marvel as the sword Link now holds in his hands! And then they cheer as he raises it high overhead! But that’s not all! On behalf of HPW, Humback proudly announces the December event will happen on NEW YEAR’S EVE, 12/31! “And it shall be known as… HYRULEMANIA!” And the logo appears on the titantron!
Fans are fired up to hear this news, and they cheer even more as Link points the sword at the screen! Link is aiming to end the year with the Triforce Championship back in his possession after what will surely be an epic rematch! Will Link redeem himself against Ganondorf before the final stroke of midnight?
My Thoughts:
That was an epic! So much writing but I enjoyed coming up with every single word of it! I really hope I lived up to a real Royal Rumble article, and even just living up to what I’ve been setting up. I feel like the trios match might be the weakest, but the number of paragraphs probably doesn’t translate to the action in them. It was also tricky to bring in the men’s championship match, I kinda put that on myself rather late in the game. But of course, the Hyrule Warrior match being based on the Royal Rumble match, that was tricky because another ratio that’s hard to translate is the amount of time passed witht he amount of text. That thing is massive, I know. But now, we have a goal for the end of the year! Only so much time left to put things together for an event of that magnitude, and with just November’s event to set things up via “in-ring action.” Some of that is already in the works, hope you all keep following along!

Hockey Talk- Winter (Classic) Is Coming [121724]
Hockey Talk looks at Alex Ovechkin’s recovery and when he might be back. Plus, the Winter Classic fast approaches. Is Chicago ready?
In this week’s edition of Hockey Talk, the guys discuss Alex Ovechkin’s pending return and whether this might mean the Caps could get better than they have already been. The Winter Classic will be coming to us from Wrigley Feild on New Year’s Eve, with Patrick’s St. Louis Blues tangling with the Chicago Blackhawks. The guys take a look at this game and discuss how things have changed since Wrigley last hosted the Winter Classic in 2009. The NHL will be selecting its Quarter Century teams over the next month or so and the fellas discuss who will be shoo ins and also speculate as to some possible deep cuts for some well-known teams.
Today’s hosts are Dave Ungar (@AttitudeAgg) and Patrick O’Dowd (@WrestlngRealist).

Bandwagon Nerds
Bandwagon Nerds #267: I’ve Had 16 Holes Already!
The Nerds convene for an extended trip to the Trailer Park and discuss big casting decisions affecting the MCU and Star Wars!
With no show to review (for the time being), the guys take an extended trip to the Trailer Park to look at the latest trailers including a rare, authorized, documentary about the legendary Led Zeppelin, plus Looney Tunes The Day the Earth Blew Up, Novocaine, Going Dutch, and Season 5 of Harley Quinn. News Around the Nerdosphere has lots of casting news including Chris Evans and Haley Atwell returning to the MCU and an interesting casting choice for The Mandalorian & Grogu leads to an in-depth conversation about Star Wars and whether the brand has been damaged beyond repair. WB-Discovery makes more curious choices, Sony finally throws in the towel on their ill-fated Spier-Verse, and the Golden Globes make some very head scratching nominations.
