Mitchell’s Raw Talk Report! (11/30/20)
Raw Talk is back, fella!
The One and Only Raw Talk has #FlexAppeal!
That’s because Ricochet, Dana Brooke and even Sheamus are here to share their feelings from Monday Night Raw!
#CharTruth welcome us back to the show!
Charly Caruso and R-Truth are happy to be back as the “duo you know, the duo you love.” Truth feels great, and is already colored like Christmas with red and green. He’s giving off the “impressionation” of Christmas. Happy Holla-days. And he also matches the WWE 24/7 Championship. Charly says for the season, make the title look like a reef with tinsel. Tinsel? It’s “metalistic.” Like in the mouth? No, not forks and spoons, those are utensils. No, he meant the thing in his throats. No those are tonsils. Oh okay. But onto titles.
Speaking of titles, we saw The Miz try to stir things up with Sheamus and McIntyre over the world title. McIntyre gets hit with a Phenomenal Forearm from Styles to set up a cash-in attempt ahead of their TLC title match, as we also saw take form tonight. But things fell apart with Miz and Styles, things didn’t go their way, and the cash-in was thwarted. Miz wants to be world champion, but he’d end up facing Styles instead. Miz will buddy up with anyone that will get him what he wants. “What a tangled web we weave.”
Another weaving of webs… Mustafa Ali as Retribution’s leader tried to get- Oh wait, Charly is out of order. We’re talking about The Fiend, and how Randy Orton figured out Alexa Bliss is now the center of the manipulation. Fiend shows up when Alexa is threatened, and Orton gives her over to him. Fiend needs Alexa to have a lot of his power, but Orton is playing with fire. Yes, that is true. Not literally. Truth doesn’t play with fire, doesn’t mess with The Fiend’s stuff. But moving on, or rather back to the topic of McIntyre, Miz and so on, the first guest is here!
Sheamus joins Raw Talk!
The Fella has his hat and jacket back, keeping himself warm. He got thrown over the wall, but managed to make his way to his “favorite show of the week.” Truth and Sheamus secret handshake, they were practicing. They each passed the other’s test. Charly says tonight’s been busy. Sheamus was on MizTV, how did it feel? Well, Sheamus isn’t sure if there’s a show low enough to compare. What show was that that got cancelled? Maury? No, Maury would be better. Truth says they cancelled Bonanza. That was a great show. But before Sheamus’ time. Before Truth’s time, too. Isn’t he 65?
But anyway, Sheamus got hit in the head, he’s still here. Again, first time teaming with McIntyre, what an honor. Miz and Morrison tried to stir things up. Charly wants to get to that, how they were saying Sheamus was teaming with McIntyre for less than genuine reasons. Sheamus says he and McIntyre have been mates for eons. McIntyre’s family was so close to him, and vice-versa. There’s no jealousy. McIntyre is the guy, everyone wants to be close to him, it’s everyone else who is jealous of their 20+ year friendship. Their first time meeting was Irish Whip Wrestling, a talent exchange with BCW. They hit it off right away in their first match. They then drank a lot of Guinness together and the rest is history. Scots and Irish and all that. Truth remembers but he forgets what he remembers.
Charly talks to that origin story, that it’s wild to think they’re here 20 years later in the WWE. Yeah, they both wanted to be in the WWE, that was their goal. They’d record matches, watch tape, pushed each other, got tryouts in ’06 and ’07. They’ve been driven to be part of the top company, the cream of the crop. Truth gets that. People say something is wrong with Truth, but he just has intensity! They wanted it, they got it, they’ve got it going on! Sheamus asks if Truth wants to have the mic. No, Truth is just putting commentary to what’s in Sheamus’ mind. Truth is right, though. This is where they wanted to be, here they are, and in the main event together.
Will tonight be a Guinness night? Of course it is! Tuesdays are their weekend! Well they earned it here tonight. Everyone was getting in on that match, and Sheamus’ side won. Yeah a full-on melee. McIntyre persevered and is still champion. McIntyre will stay that way for a long time. Let’s get more guests on this show. Until then, Sheamus says thanks and good night! Sheamus is “outie 500” and in comes another winner from tonight!
Dana Brooke joins Raw Talk!
The Flex Appeal is happy to be back again and Charly says they talked before in catering but that was before her match. How did it feel? It was the best! We saw what Reckoning did to Dana, so Dana sent a message back! Exactly, that’s what Charly was getting at earlier. Dana got to slap Mustafa Ali! Well Dana couldn’t find Reckoning so she needed to show them all she’ snot messing around.
So what are Dana’s opinions about Retribution? Well Reckoning’s tough, but this was unfinished business. Reckoning ruined Dana’s Survivor Series opportunity, so she ruined Reckoning’s Monday. Charly says Truth keeps instigating things. Truth makes sure not to say anything when someone is around. They’re good, though. But if you ask for something, you might get it.
Charly brings up Survivor Series. It’s gone now, she and Mandy Rose missed out for different reasons, but is Dana still shaken about not being able to compete? Yes, she is still upset by that. Dana has worked so hard for any opportunity, she wants to show us what she’s capable of, and what Reckoning did was not necessary. Dana is showing she’ snot someone to mess with. Dana’s gotten sharper, crisper. and now she’s on to bigger and better. She wants the women’s tag team titles! But is Dana worried that she is now a target? “Haters are my motivators!” Truth agrees. If you don’t have haters, you ain’t doing something. Truth and Charly like that. Quote of the night!
Dana says Nia and Shayna had it out for her and Mandy, and then they injured Mandy. Mandy is recovering, she is still positive, and she will be back soon enough. Dana settled a score, she and Mandy have their eyes on the prize. #SexyMuscleFriends, aka the Blonde Bombshells, the Buff Blondes, bring on the names! Asuka’s is the best, though. Truth wants to be a Sexy Muscle Friend? No, he’s fine with what he has. But he asks if catering had good potato salad. She’s a muscle friend, she doesn’t have potato salad. But she had a cookie. It was her birthday! Dana is keeping her girlish figure. She could just have a slice. You don’t slice potato salad, Truth. Well happy birthday, Dana! Go on and celebrate!
But someone else who had to deal with Retribution tonight, it’s the One and Only!
Ricochet joins Raw Talk!
Charly says Retribution is a pain in the ass for a lot of people. Ricochet agrees. Truth asks how many superheroes Ricochet knows. “Personally, none.” Seriously? Well, they’re fictional. Dude, you’re disappointing the kids. Well back to business, Retribution being a thorn in his side and Dana’s, among many. Retribution tried to recruit him and he wants nothing to do with it. Ricochet says they’re all going about things the wrong way. Ali wants change but they’re not doing anything good to create change, it’s just chaos. Chaos won’t create change, as we’ve seen in the history of WWE. Well said.
So then with that match, Ricochet won- no, wait, he lost to Slapjack. Sorry for getting that mixed up. So how does it feel like losing to those he doesn’t really like? Well it’s even more than that. It was how they did it. Ali talking about it taking many to make change, but Ali sees that Ricochet is making change in his own way. Ricochet was going to win so Ali had to change that. So Ricochet feels he’s creating change? Yes. And Ali sees that, feels upset about that, “he’s in his feelings.” So what is Ricochet changing? It’s that Ricochet shows wins and losses don’t matter, you need to put your all on the line. Even in front of a digital audience, you give that audience the best showing you can. Having “friends” helps, but Ali and Cedric Alexander were friends and look what happened?
Ricochet knows Ali is upset, and everyone in Retribution feels underappreciated and misused. There were times when Ricochet felt that way. Everyone feels that way at some point. But lashing out will only make more chaos and pain. You have to put your head down, push forward and be better. Charly says Ricochet takes pride in sticking to his convictions. Ricochet understands the feelings of wanting to “stick it to the man” or whatever Ali is really up to. But that won’t get anything done. There’s more than one way to skin a cat. Though no one really skins cats. It’s just a saying. Charly says Truth is all over the place. Ricochet says that’s okay. Does Truth have a friendship with the Fiend? Or is it just no beef?
But Ricochet keeps focus on saying Ali is upset, Alexander is upset. Ricochet sticks to his beliefs and his message. If he goes back on those, what does anything he say mean anymore? “Be your own cheerleader. Roll by yourself.” A one man island, even. If that’s what Ricochet has to do to get his message out to the people, then okay. Charly is sure there are many who feel the same way towards Retribution, it can’t be hard to find allies if he really has to. Yes, but Ricochet will just focus on himself and Ali for now. Charly thanks Ricochet for his time, and hopes Ricochet isn’t alone for much longer. And with that, #CharTruth is signing off!
My Thoughts:
A pretty good Raw Talk that went very fast. This was definitely live, Charly didn’t realize the order of things until the footage was playing. Sheamus had a good segment to build upon what we got for Raw, but there wasn’t much else to it. Dana had a good segment, as did Ricochet. I hope with Charly bringing up that Ricochet could find allies in those who also dislike Retribution, it goes with what I was thinking after Raw that Ricochet, Dana and someone else could team up to take them on at some point.

Chairshot News Report: TNA Impact Results, AEW Speculation For Ricochet & Shane McMahon, Vince McMahon, More!
Your Wrestling News for July 5, 2024, including TNA Impact, Ricochet, Shane McMahon, his daddy Vince, and more!
Your Wrestling News for July 5, 2024, including TNA Impact, Ricochet, Shane McMahon, his daddy Vince, and more!
Welcome to your daily dose of pro wrestling news–and analysis you can trust! We take all wrestling news with a grain of salt here at The Chairshot, and we hope to steer you in the right direction.
Results: TNA Impact (July 4, 2024)
Here are your results from Thursday night’s edition of TNA Impact (originally taped on June 28 at the 2300 Arena in Philly):
- Trey Miguel vs. Leon Slater ends in a no-contest after WWE NXT star Charlie Dempsey attacks everyone.
- Dani Luna battled Jody Threat to a time limit draw in the 10-Minute Challenge. They were granted the customary “5 more minutes” but were attacked by Alisha Edwards & Masha Slamovich. During the match it was revealed that Nic Nemeth had been attacked backstage.
- Frankie Kazarian defeated Mike Santana by countout to advance to the TNA World Championship Match at Slammiversary.
- Matt Hardy & Reby Hardy beat Eddie Edwards & Alisha Edwards.
- Joe Hendry pinned Jake Something to advance to the TNA World Championship Match at Slammiversary.
No surprise that Joe Hendry advanced to the world title match, but Santana-Kazarian could have gone either way. A promo video to end the show implied that Kazarian was the one who took out Nic Nemeth backstage, seemingly creating a story for them within the Slammiversary title match. No shocker that The Hardys won the tag team match, but a great surprise with Charlie Dempsey getting involved in the opener. That TNA/NXT collaboration continues to be a lot of fun.

Ricochet Expected To Sign With AEW
Many outlets are reporting that Ricochet’s expected landing spot remains AEW, with additional reports surfacing that his agent has been working out the details on his behalf.
Personally, I’d rather see him back in WWE. Even after an initial push in AEW, he will be a novelty act much like PAC, so I don’t see the difference. But if he’s going to AEW, here’s hoping that agent does a great job and secures quite the bag for ol’ Ric.
Vince Russo Suggests Shane McMahon As A Front Man For Vince McMahon to Purchase AEW
”We saw this with WCW, it happened before. It (purchasing AEW) could be under the guise of Shane, that’s what I’m saying. Shane is as clean as whistle. Vince could be behind it without anybody knowing it, bro.”
Those are the words of Vince Russo, who on the surface seems to be spouting nonsense. Time will tell if there is something to it all, but I wouldn’t place any wagers on this one. Shane McMahon to AEW would be an entertaining shocker, but that–like many things in AEW–would quickly wear off.
Shawn Michaels Discusses NXT Releases, Referencing Drew Gulak
During the NXT Heatwave media call, Shawn Michaels was asked about the release of Gable Steveson, but also lumped Drew Gulak in his response about main roster viability:
“From my understanding, nothing on anyone’s part other than contracts being up. Certainly, in the place of Drew Gulak. From a company standpoint, there not being anything from a main roster standpoint that they were going to be using him in. In NXT, over the last year and a half to two years, we’ve been trying to get into the process of keeping it fluid. It’s all about getting to the main roster when everything is said and done. In two or three years, if that doesn’t happen, we bring other people in or see if we’re ready to move on.”
If anything, it’s a stark reminder that NXT still exists to, above all else, populate the main roster. It’s quite the delicate balance between booking your own television show and preparing for the future, one that HBK has arguably done better than Triple H himself.
Other Odds & Ends:
- According to reports, the mini-stroke referenced by Britt Baker (DMD) on AEW Dynamite is legitimate. If so, both she and Adam Cole have been through a ton over the past 24 months.
- Mason Madden (Mace) and Mansoor, now known as the MxM Collection, showed up in ROH when featured in a vignette on this week’s broadcast. They might not have made it in WWE, but it’s good to see them getting work, and a second chance to make this gimmick their own. YEAH!
- Cody Rhodes continues to be the ultimate good dude, this time helping a fan who won tickets to Money In The Bank actually attend the event. The fan who won the tickets is in a wheelchair, and there were no more accessible seats left. That was, of course, until Cody got involved. Now the fan can be there and enjoy the show as intended when he won the contest. Cody wins again!

Did your picks win points?
The AEW Continental Classic is underway, with almost everyone competing. Check in here if you haven’t seen the winners and losers of week 1!
Here are your Gold League standings!
- Jon Moxley: 1-0, 3 points
- Swerve Strickland: 1-0, 3 points
- Jay White: 1-0, 3 points
- Rush: 0-1, 0 points
- Mark Briscoe: 0-1, 0 points.
- Jay Lethal: 0-1, 0 points
Here are your Blue League standings!
- Brody King: 1-0, 3 points
- Claudio Castagnoli: 1-0, 3 points
- Daniel Garcia: 0-1, 0 points
- Eddie Kingston: 0-1, 0 points
- Bryan Danielson: Yet to Compete
- Andrade El Idolo: Yet to Compete
My Thoughts:
Nothing too crazy, nothing too wild, this tournament only just got started. The only disappointing point is that they could not get Bryan “cleared to compete” Saturday night. Not sure how much of that is shoot given the bad eye, but this was kinda the problem of wanting him in the tournament over tons of other choices. Bryan wants to face Okada for WrestleKingdom 18, how is Bryan supposed to do that at his best if he’s also gonna be in a round robin, doing five top level matches in about as many weeks? And it takes away from Andrade being able to do something. Also a little surprised we didn’t even hear from Andrade on Saturday.
Now as we heard on Saturday, round two’s matches are set. Gold League will see Mark Briscoe VS Rush, White VS Swerve, and of course, Moxley VS Lethal. Nice variety there, a couple 0-1 guys facing off, as well as two 1-0 guys, and then 1-0 VS 0-1. No offense to Lethal, but he feels like an 0-2 going up against Moxley. Hard to call the other ones but that’s the fun of it. Meanwhile, Blue League sees Brody VS Claudio in a showdown to be 2-0, then Bryan and Andrade finally jump in, Bryan against Eddie and Andrade against Garcia. Sadly, feels like Eddie and Garcia are going 0-2, no way Tony Khan is booking Bryan and Andrade to lose their first shots.
In fact, that could be half the reason they did wait on those two, that’s almost too good for just a first round opener. But I still would’ve done it, same as NJPW does stuff like that for round robins, which this is all modeled after anyway.
