Nakazawa protests, but the ref didn’t see the hammer so he can’t factor it in! With this win, and the damage done to Nick’s foot, is this series all but done? Or can The Elite fight through the pain to come back three-in-a-row?
Wait, Omega gets on the mic! Omega has the music stop, and says, “There’s going to be enough talking in this show as there is, so what I’m about to say, it’s not for you guys.” It’s not for the people at home or the fans here. This is for Death Triangle and he wants to make sure they hear it. Anyone who knows sports, a 3-1 deficit is pretty bad. Every single match that Death Triangle won was when they used a hammer. Cute. But how about the next match, Death Triangle’s match point, how about we make the hammer legal? Omega can’t lie, he isn’t one to lay down hammers, so let’s not just make the hammer legal, let’s make all weapons legal!
The Elite is sick of playing by Death Triangle’s rules, so let’s make it so there are no rules at all! Omega wants match five to be NO DISQUALIFICATIONS!!! But he won’t just make the decision himself. He wants everyone to have a say. What do the fans want? They are fired up! Well then, back to regularly scheduled programming, as Omega was not formatted to say this. But for now, he bids you adieu. Good-bye, mwah! And good! Night! BANG!! Omega has raised the stakes as we go into the Holiday Bash, will match five be the end of it all? Or will it be just the beginning of a truly extreme comeback story?
Backstage interview with MJF.
Alex Marvez is with the AEW World Champion to get his thoughts on tonight’s massive main event. MJF VS Ricky Starks, for both the Dynamite Diamond Ring, and the “biggest prize in all of professional wrestling, the AEW World title.” MJF applauds Starks for finally cutting his first great “oratory expedition!” MJF knows everyone is rooting for Starks. They all see the great potential in Starks. Do you know what they’re calling last week, Marvez? “A star-making performance!” Isn’t that cute? But do you know what? The first time MJF ever appeared on Dynamite, he was already a star! And after that, he just hit homerun after homerun, and is batting a thousand!
MJF is just curious, though. How many at-bats did Ricky have before he hit the homer? Oops. Well, then Starks got the people claiming Starks made himself a star, when that couldn’t be further from the truth, “Richard.” MJF is the one who made himself a star! Because at 26 years old, he is the most talked about name in this business! He is a star maker, so you’re welcome for the rub, “Rick.” MJF figured Starks would talk about his rough upbringing. “Oh~, I had it so hard~! I grew up poor, I had to leave and move into the dumpster fire known as Texas! I grew up with a bobblehead that was so much bigger than my body! I had to live out of my car and eat out of dumpsters with raccoons! WAH~!
“I don’t care! None of that matters! The only thing in his lifetime that matters is are you or aren’t you the AEW World Heavyweight Champion? And of course, the smooth brained simpletons at watching home love you, Ricky. It’s because they relate to you. Because much like you, their lives suck! But instead of fixing it, all they do is whine and moan and complain. ‘Why me? Why me?’ It’s because you all suck!!” And then there’s MJF. Starks says MJF had it easy. Guess what? He was right! He grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth! He was born rich, handsome, funny, witty, pretty, and better than you and every single putrid person on this planet and MJF isn’t apologizing for it!
And then, Starks wants to talk about taking pressure off MJF’s plate. Granted, it took Starks a minute to get to his point, he was meandering and mumbling for about seven minutes, and every time he got lost, he’d just go, “GiMmE a BwEaK~!” How about you give MJF a break! Pressure? MJF is under none. He is already “the guy.” He already has the Dynamite Diamond Ring AND AEW World Championship. Everyone hates his guts, everyone wants to see his downfall, and no one is rooting for him, so he has no one to let down. But Starks, ooh… Ricky Starks, MJF does not envy you even a little bit!
Everyone around the world wants to see Starks win the big one! Starks’ mom, family, friends, fans, GOD wants Starks to win the big one in his adopted home state of Texas! But can Starks do it?! Or will he let everyone down? Now that is pressure. And tonight, we see what happens when pressure is applied to The Pebble. Will he become the diamond everyone claims him to be? Or will he simply turn into dust? MJF looks to test The Absolute, but will he end up absolutely devastated?
The Acclaimed is here!
Fans fire up as the AEW World Tag Team Champions and Billy Gunn head to the ring! And of course, Max Caster has a rap on deck! “Acclaimed in the house, if you need a reminder, we brought the belts back like Brittney Griner! All the fans agree on us. Other teams getting booed like they’re Elon Musk! The world champs, who can stop it?” Wait, Satnam Singh just CLOBBERS Billy on stage! Jay Lethal & Sonjay Dutt blindside Caster & Bowens! Fans boo as Sonjay kicks Caster around while Satnam drags Billy down the ramp with a headlock. Jeff Jarrett struts out, guitar held high, and he goes to the ring.
Satnam sends Billy into steel steps, Lethal sends Bowens over the timekeeper’s table! Satnam puts Caster in the ring but Caster DECKS Sonjay! Lethal DECKS Caster, then stomps him down! Fans boo as Team Double Jay all gather to mug Caster! Jarrett has his guitar, for a SMASH HIT!! Caster goes down and Jarrett gets the mic. “Yo! Yo, yo, Acclaimed!” Fans cuss Jarrett out, but Jarrett asks if they have The Acclaimed’s attention now! “Hey, you little bitch! Why don’t you scissor this, Slap Nuts?” Jarrett drops the title belts onto Caster, and laughs as he and his team raise their hands in victory. Will Jay & Double J take those titles from Caster & Bowens?
Backstage interview with the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Tony Schiavone is with Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia, Jake Hager, Angelo Parker and Sammy Guevara. He notes that Jericho is the now former ROH World Champion, after tapping out to Claudio Castagnoli’s Giant Swing. Jericho says Schiavone must love that, huh? Schiavone says he’s just stating facts. Well then let Jericho state some facts! “The Giant Swing is barbaric!” Parker says it is inhumane! Jericho says that move should be BANNED! And Jericho will take his frustrations out on some jobber in a tune-up match as he prepares for a rematch with Claudio to regain the ROH World Championship! He is still the OCHO!
Claudio as champion is just as much a flash in the pan as Joe Exotic or Ricky Starks. Schiavone does have to point out that Daniel Garcia lost his ROH Pure Championship to Wheeler Yuta. Garcia says when it comes to- Jericho stops Garcia there to say it himself: Garcia should’ve never lost that title. Garcia is better than that, but it’s okay. Garcia just needs a little bit of advice and mentorship and experience. From now on, Garcia can shadow his elder, Sammy Guevara, and do whatever Sammy says. Sammy says, “That’s right, little buddy! And you can start that this Friday on Rampage. Because while this stuff with the JAS and the BCC is over, it’s not for me and Jon Moxley!”
Sammy keeps Garcia close with a shoulder hug as he promises Moxley that he will kick Moxley’s ass! Moxley punched Sammy in his face so Sammy will knock Moxley out! Sammy’s wife, Tay Melo, kicks Ruby Soho’s ass tonight! Big matches coming up, and Hager shouts, “I LIKE THIS HAT!” Will things truly, truly be over between the Jericho Appreciation Society and Blackpool Combat Club after these next rematches?
Brian Cage w/ Prince Nana VS “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry!
From fighting Luchasaurus in a steel cage to facing The Machine called Cage! Will Jungle Boy Jack make it through to the holidays next week? Or will one third of the NEW ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions get payback from the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royal?

Cage whips, JB ducks ‘n’ dodges but his shoulder tackle bounces off Cage! Cage taunts the fans, runs, but JB drops then hurdles. Cage catches JB to a fireman’s carry, but JB pops up to RANA Cage to a corner! JB runs in but is put on the apron. JB GAMANGIRIS, goes up top, and JB FLYING RANAS! Cage stagger sup into a DROPKICK! But JB shakes out the arms, runs corner to corner, but Cage picks JB up! Cage RAMS JB into the corner, then CHOPS! Cage drags JB up to whip him corner to corner, then he runs in. JB slips out, ducks the punches but Cage blocks the kick to ROCK and KICK JB! Cage climbs up the corner, and he deadlifts JB into the SUPERPLEX! Fans boo but Nana and Cage soak up the heat. Cage flexes, he drags JB up, and Cage scoops JB to use him for bicep curls. Cage TOSSES JB overhead, then asks, “Who betta than Cage?” Fans boo but Cage just struts around as AEW goes picture in picture.

Cage is annoyed, he looms over JB in the corner, and he taunts the fans. JB CHOPS Cage! And CHOPS! And CHOPS! Cage JUMP KNEES JB back down!
Cage CHOKES JB against buckles! The ref counts, Cage lets off, and then he whips JB corner to corner hard! JB bounces off buckles and writhes, but Cage soaks up the heat. Cage even does push-ups to show off! Cage drags JB up from the apron and bends him against the rope to CLUB him in the chest! And again and again! Cage drags JB up to TOSS him back into the ring! Cage then clamps on with a chinlock and he leans on the hold. JB endures, fights up, throws body shots, but Cage knees him away! AEW returns to single picture, he mockingly applauds, and then runs in, into a BOOT from JB!
JB goes to another corner, Cage runs in but JB dodges! Cage hits buckles, JB ELBOWS Cage away, then CHOPS! And CHOPS! And ROCKS Cage with a forearm! JB whips, Cage reverses, but JB FLYING FOREARMS in return! Cage staggers around and JB runs in again to FLYING FOREARM! Cage stays up but JB roars! Fans fire up and JB runs, but Cage sidesteps, only to take the COMEBACKER! But Cage is still on his feet! Cage deadlifts JB, but JB SATELLITE DDTs Cage down! Nana is freaking out but the fans fire up! JB and Cage stir, they go to opposite corners, and JB runs in at Cage!
Cage dodges, UPPERCUTS, GAMANGIRIS, then GERMAN SUPLEXES! JB flounders, Cage hauls him up into a full nelson, and SWINGS JB into a SLAM! Cover, TWO!!! JB survives and Nana is furious! Cage drags JB back up, reels him in, and slashes his throat. Cage suplexes, but JB turns Drill Claw into a victory roll! TWO!! SUPERKICK from JB staggers Cage! JB runs, but Cage DISCUS LARIATS! And then a fireman’s carry, to the F- DESTROYER?!! JB pulls that one outta nowhere!! Cover, TWO!!! But into the SNARE TRAP!! Nana distracts the ref! Cage is tapping but the ref doesn’t see it! Fans freak out, but JB lets off to swipe at Nana!
Nana shouts at JB, Cage fireman’s carries JB, but JB slips off! JB waistlocks but Cage switches! Cage ripcords but JB ducks, the LARIRAT hits Nana! O’Conner Roll! JB WINS!!
Winner: “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, by pinfall
Fans sing for Jungle Life, and Jack gets the mic! “Hold on a minute! At Full Gear, I beat Luchasaurus. Right now, I beat Brian Cage! Well I want the biggest bitch of them all! So Big Bill, get your punk ass out here!!” Fans fire up and here comes Stokely Hathaway instead. Stokely tells JB that every time he sees JB’s face, “it pisses me off. It pisses me off to the highest level of pisstivity! And if you keep messing around, tonight you’re gonna see two things. One: The bottom of Big Bill’s boot. And number two: the back of my hand. Because you a little ho.” JB storms out of the ring and up to Stokely, but Lee Moriarty runs out to brawl with JB!
Fans fire up as JB gets the edge on #TAIGASTYLE, but here comes Morrissey! He CLUBS JB, CLUBS him more, and now The Firm mugs JB! Stokely says this is the kind of beating he likes: no background music! RIP Newjack. But The Firm drags JB up and whips him into the steel steps! JB writhes and Stokely tells him to stay down. Fans boo but Morrissey drags JB back up. Morrissey puts JB in the ring, Moriarty takes aim from a corner, and he forearm smashes in the corner! Morrissey runs to SPLASH! Choke grip, and SKYSCRAPER CHOKE SLAM!! Fans boo but wait! Here comes HOOK!! The fans go nuts for the FTW Champion!!
Hook storms to the ring, he knows Moriarty wants him so here he is! But then Morrissey & Moriarty retreat at Stokely’s orders. The Firm will do this on The Firm’s time, but Hook helps JB to his feet! Fans fire up as JB and Hook stand tall! Will we see a new dream team form in order to tear down Taiga Style and the towering Big Bill?
The Blackpool Combat Club speak.
Jon Moxley says, “If you’re a little confused about what’s going on with us, well I’ll keep it real simple. Last week, I said we were gonna make a statement. At Final Battle, my man Wheeler here elbowed Daniel Garcia’s face into oblivion! Claudio here swung a grown man around by his ankles like a child until he wanted to puke and pass out and soil himself, and he begged for mercy. I choked Takeshita unconscious. Like a big sack of potatoes, he fell to the mat, he did. That’s a small statement of what we can do, of what we will do.”
Claudio says that in 2023, they’re putting everyone on notice! Dynamite, Rampage, Dark, Elevation, wherever you want to pick a fight! You think you’re good, you will know the BCC is better! Yuta adds that if there’s one thing Moxley and Claudio have taught him over the past year, it’s that if you wanna win, if you wanna achieve greatness, if you want a title, then you gotta fight like you’re already dead! And Yuta is locked into that mindset. If you wanna come get some, you know where to find them.
Moxley says, “Oh, and one last worm to stomp out from those JAS boys. Sammy Guevara, you are a gutsy kid. So gutsy, in fact, I think you will show up this Friday night on Rampage. And I promise, I will stomp your face into a bloody mess and leave you for dead. That’s what we do. And Hangman Page, I always say, you know where to find me. Bring your little Dark Order buddies, too. Y’know, if you want.” The Maniac, the Swiss Superman & The Decoder are calling out everyone! Will it take everyone to stop the BCC from taking over AEW?
Swerve Strickland speaks.
“It’s funny. The more you give the loved ones, the less they give you back. I’ve given you everything, Keith. From my efforts, from my in-ring skills, to my partnership to my friendship, and you threw it all in my face. Next week in San Antonio, we will have our meeting face-to-face. But you’re not a friend, you’re not a partner, we’re not family. I have no friends, I have no family in this industry. I have affiliates. See you soon.” Swerve ditched Keith Lee at Final Battle, but he didn’t get what he wanted. Will he get what he wants for the holidays? Or just what he deserves?
Six Man Tag: The House of Black VS QT Marshall, Cole Karter & Aaron Solo w/ The Factory!
Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews made statements of their own when they returned, and then again after the All-Atlantic Championship’s Lumberjack match. Will they continue to demolish everyone in their path back to the top? Or will The Factory avenge that ambush from almost a month ago?
The trios sort out but Comoroto, who isn’t even in the match officially, steps up. But then Julia Hart steps up in return? AEW doesn’t do coed competition, but Comoroto still throws his lollipop stick at her. So Julia SPITS MIST IN RETURN!! Comoroto goes down, and then Brody & Buddy CLOBBER Karter & Solo! QT is stunned, Brody and Buddy go out to keep after Solo and Karter, and Brody even DECKS Big Shotty Lee Johnson! QT isn’t sure what to do as Buddy RAMS Karter into the apron! And then Buddy RAMPS Karter into railing! Brody BOOTS Solo down! Buddy ROCKS Karter, Brody makes Solo take a seat in the corner of the railing.
Fans bark it up while Buddy smacks Karter off the timekeeper’s table. Brody runs in to CROSSBODY Solo into the railing! Johnson tries to help Karter but Buddy gets him for MURPHY’S LAW onto Karter! QT is looking around in a panic as the bell rings, and he’s all alone with Malakai! But then Buddy and Brody flank QT, and Malakai stands up. QT says what the hell, and he rushes up to Malakai, into the BLACK MASS!! Cover, the House of Black wins!
Winners: The House of Black, by pinfall
Statement: made! They vowed to “punish” those who think they are safe. Will all of AEW be sentenced to this kind of brutal punishment?
AEW takes a closer look at Hayter VS Shida.
The Regina di Wave Champion tells Jamie Hayter, “You are a good wrestler. But you are not the one who is a history-maker.” But Hayter tells Shida, “Congratulations. You won the opportunity of a lifetime to wrestle me for this belt, next week on Dynamite. You’re gonna understand that I’m not fun to be in the ring with. It’s all go.” #HayterHitsHard! Shida says she will teach Hayter the real Joshi Strong Style, and will take that AEW Women’s World Champion! Will we see a new era of #TwoBeltsShida? Or will she hate Hayter after their showdown of champions?
Backstage interview with Britt Baker.
Renee Paquette is with The Doctor and Rebel as she brings up the title match. And Britt has Renee stop right there. “Let’s stop acting like Shida beating Jamie is ever gonna be a thing. It’s not a thing, it won’t be a thing ever, so stop trying to make it a thing, got it? In fact, the only thing that Shida is famous for around here is breaking my nose. I defeated Shida for the AEW Women’s World Championship, and Jamie-” Skye Blue walks in and gets Britt’s attention. Okay, how can Britt help her? Britt says the audacity it takes to walk into her interview time is sky high!
Skye says she couldn’t help but hear Britt talking from a mile away. She’s pretty sure the entire AEW roster can hear Britt when she talks. Now, Skye will give Britt credit, she is good at talking. But let’s see if Britt can wrestle as well as she runs that mouth. Skye isn’t doing anything this Friday, and she’s pretty sure Britt isn’t either. So let’s prove it on Rampage! Britt can’t believe that’s Skye Blue. But yes, she will be the Face of the Women’s Division by kicking Skye’s ass! Will the Dentist put her money where her mouth is this Friday?
Chris Jericho VS Action Andretti!
The Wizard is no longer Le Champion, but he swears that he is still #THEOCHO! But then will this match help Jericho get the momentum to become The Nueve? Or will this tune-up be more than what Jericho expected for Winter is Coming?
The bell rings and fans chant “YOU TAPPED OUT!” at Jericho. Jericho flips the fans off but that doesn’t stop them. Jericho and Action circle, and Jericho gets in Action’s face. Jericho SLAPS Action, then taunts him. Jericho SLAPS Action again, then he soaks up the heat. Fans boo but Action SLAPS Jericho back! Jericho ROCKS Action, fires off forearms, then has him in a corner! Jericho stomps away on Action, the ref counts and Jericho stops at 4. Jericho soaks up more heat then goes back to Action. Jericho CHOPS Action, whips him corner to corner, and then clotheslines! And again! And then he digs his fingers into Action’s face!
Fans chant, “Let’s Go, Jobber!” while the ref counts. Jericho backs off, but he storms back up to ROCK Action in the face! Action counter punches to CHOP! And CHOP! And CHOP! Jericho’s cocky grin is now a shocked scowl! Fans are thunderous for Action Andretti as AEW goes picture in picture!
Jericho stares at Action as he crawls to ropes. Fans are still rallying for Action as he drags himself up the ropes, and Jericho storms up after him. Jericho stands Action up, stares him right in the eye, and ROCKS him with forearm after forearm! Jericho fires off more and more, the ref gets the gloves because Action’s got a bloody nose. Jericho drags Action up to throw him out, and then goes out the side. Jericho storms over to Action, stands him up, and RAMS him into steel steps! Action writhes on the floor but Jericho paces. Action clutches an arm and works on the shoulder, but Jericho drags him up and puts him in the ring.

Backstage interview with Ricky Starks.
“I woke up this morning smelling the Lonestar air, knowing exactly that I am the man. Me, Ricky Starks. Tonight, I finally get my shot at the AEW World Championship against ol’ Maxi Pad. And I think it’s pretty fitting that it happens in my backyard. I feel just as prepared as I did the first day that I stepped foot into AEW. And there’s been a long road for me since I’ve been here, and I can acknowledge that. When I had my neck broken and I thought this was the end of it, I sat at home and I made sure that I would stand right here to be the guy to tell you at home, ‘Hey, I’m doing it tonight! I’m winning the AEW Championship, because I have no other options!
“I have grinded! I have paid my dues for the last 11 YEARS, and guess what? All that comes to a head tonight. Max, you wanna talk about a star-making performance? Guess what, last week was nothing new to me! I’ve been doing that in my sleep. I’ve been letting people know who I am since day one. You have to find validation in your stupid ass ratings, and ‘Oh, I’m such a draw!’ Nobody gives a damn, pal. But what they do care about is seeing me, Ricky Starks, stomp your little ass tonight.”
Starks knows he has a lot riding on the line, and he has a lot of people looking up to him. MJF may think of that as a joke, only because he has no one supporting him, no one who actually want to be behind him! But Starks does! Make fun all you want, but Starks is a reflection of what MJF wants to be! From the top of Starks’ head to the bottom of his feet, he IS the man! And after tonight, he proves to MJF and everyone else why Starks is the “coldest MF’er you have ever seen!” Why he is “the most stylish MF’er you have ever seen!” And why he is ABSOLUTELY the AEW World Champion! Ricky Starks, A to Z, remember the name! Because no one else will forget this match.
FTR speaks.
Dax Harwood knows a lot of people are calling FTR VS The Briscoes “the greatest trilogy of all time.” He isn’t so sure, but Saturday night was definitely the hardest match of their careers. As they stood in that ring and got the adulation from the fans, the thousands in attendance, it seems a couple more people wanted their attention, and that’s The Ass Boys, Austin & Colten Gunn. Dax won’t call them “Ass Boys” anymore, they’re just Austin & Colten. Those are their names, and not just stage names. Those are their real names. And they wanna take the shine away from FTR, from Dax & Cash, well that ain’t gonna happen.
Cash Wheeler says Austin & Colten want to “kill” FTR’s legacy. They have done just about everything they can, like costing FTR matches and jumping them after the most grueling match in their careers, the Double Dog Collar match. That was maybe the most vicious match Cash will ever be in for his entire life. But now the Gunns are desperate for attention from someone because they have daddy issues. They want FTR’s attention? Well now they have it, because FTR will kick the Ass Boys’ asses.
Dax said Austin & Colten have tried for months to get FTR’s attention with nothing to offer in return. FTR is building a legacy. But if building that legacy has to go through the Gunn Sons, then okay! They have FTR’s attention now. Will Austin & Colten regret writing checks their asses can’t cash?
Jericho is throwing a fit backstage!
He kicks things, throws things, hits things with a chair, and then throws those things he just hit! The Ocho shouts and yells all the way to his locker room, but will he ever get over losing to “a jobber?”
Tonight’s main eventers prepare backstage.
Ricky Starks works with a resistance band while MJF lounges while getting a shoulder rub. Will this difference in preparedness reflect how the main event goes?

Ruby snarls as she stalks Tay. STO! Cover, TWO! Ruby drags Tay into a drop zone and then climbs up the corner. Fans fire up as Ruby is up top, for the SUPER SEN- NO, Ruby bails out as Tay moves. Tay CHOPS again! Ruby snarls and CHOPS! And CHOPS! And puts some stank on the- NO, SAYANAGI from Tay! Tay reels Ruby in, Gotch lift, PILEDRIVER!! Cover, TWO?!?! Fans are fired up and Tay is shocked again! Tay drags Ruby up, Gory Especials, but Ruby blocks the knee to KNEE back! Tay staggers and clutches her nose! Ruby brings Tay around, DESTINATION UNKNOWN!! Cover, Ruby wins!
Winner: Ruby Soho, by pinfall
But here comes Anna Jay! The Star of the Show storms into the ring to CLOBBER Ruby! Anna rains down fists on Ruby, and then she helps her bestie back up. Anna hooks Ruby up for a GORY BOMB! Ruby clutches her repaired nose and Tay says that is what she gets! Fans boo but TayJay soak up the heat. Will the JAS redeem themselves by any means necessary?
Alex Marvez is waiting backstage.
He waits on a medical update for Hangman Adam Page after hitting a ring post head first last week. The Dark Order is also here and Evil Uno is trying to sort out the whole Preston Vance betrayal thing. But Hangman says if they want a medical update, that if he still has migraines in the mornings and gets dizzy in the shower. Or do they wanna know when he’ll be cleared to face Jon Moxley? Because at this point, Hangman doesn’t know, it probably isn’t any time soon. Is that what everyone wants to know? Marvez says yes, given that Moxley called Hangman and The Dark Order out, daring them to show up on Rampage.
Uno says Hangman shouldn’t do it, but Hangman says he has a status update. This is the one he gave in October, when Hangman was “face down on the mat, snoring for 60 seconds.” They rolled him over, put him in an ambulance, and he came to along the way to the hospital. He started getting them right after awhile. The date was October 18th. Where was he? Cincinnati. Who was he wrestling? The AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley. And they said that Hangman had 100 missed calls and texts on his phone, so they asked if he wanted to see them. He had to unlock the phone, but the screen light was so bright to him.
The medics saw a picture of Hangman’s son and said he’s so cute. What’s his name? Hangman couldn’t remember. Those green eyes looked back up at Hangman, and he didn’t know. For an entire hour, Hangman didn’t know. Hangman went through hell. If Moxley wants to fight Hangman on Friday, then he will fight! He knows where the ring is. But if Moxley wants to send Hangman back to hell, Hangman’s taking Moxley with him. The Cowboy is fired up, will he get his payback on The Maniac?
Dustin Rhodes and the Best Friends speak.
The Natural tells Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, Chuck Taylor & Danhausen, “We’re in Texas, boys. Do you know what that means? That’s home for me. Kip Sabian, Trent Seven, Butcher, Blade. This Friday night on AEW Rampage, I’m with The Best Friends and… this spooky boy over here. We’re gonna flatten you! This is MY backyard, and I’ll be damned if we’re gonna lay down for you, cuz we’re gonna flatten you.” Trent says hands in, and everyone puts their hands in. They tell Kip and crew they’ll see them on Friday. Will this all-star team be able to put away Sabian’s Superbad squad?
BREAKING NEWS on the World Trios Best of 7 series!
It is official! Match 5 will be NO DISQUALIFICATIONS! Now the hammer, and just about anything else both teams want to use, will be legal! Plus, Tony Khan has planned ahead. Should match 6 be needed, it will be under Falls Count Anywhere! And, as unlikely as it may be, should the seventh and final match be needed, it will be as a LADDER MATCH! Can The Elite get the comeback on track to then take on Escalara de la Muerte?

My Thoughts:
A great night for AEW with this year’s Winter is Coming. For one, just an awesome Trios match to continue the Best of 7 series. Great little hero bit from Nick coming back out after hurting his ankle (all kayfabe of course), but I was surprised that moment didn’t help The Elite win. And I like Omega blurring the lines since we all know he is an EVP. He didn’t just say next time was No Disqualification, he left that to THE boss, Tony Khan, as well as the public opinion. And being told all the stipulations to come, if it wasn’t clear we were going all the way to match number seven, it is now. However, The Elite winning No DQ and Falls Count Anywhere is a bit heavy handed. But the seventh and last match being a ladder match really could let things go either way, that will be an awesome match to finish this off with.
That said, next up is of course The House of Black. They decimated The Factory before the match, then poor QT had no chance during the match. The House of Black are also going to have a match with Eddie Kingston & Ortiz at some point given the promo we got from Kingston & Ortiz, can’t wait to see what comes of that. Then the House of Black will simply be considered #1 contenders by the “rankings,” and they’ll go right after the winner of that ladder match as soon as the end of that match. The Elite will have a great match with The House of Black, and I wouldn’t ever say The Elite are transitional champions given this Best of 7, but I am saying there’s a chance The Elite puts the House of Black over.
Good segment from The Acclaimed and Team Double Jay. While Team Double Jay using “sports entertainment” tactics to jump to being challengers, obviously we’re going to see these teams face off anyway. Kinda exposes the bad handling of their own ranking system, but AEW isn’t going to bring in Jeff Jarrett just to have him level grind on Dark and Elevation. And while FTR had a great promo to call out Austin & Colten, I again bring up how they didn’t really do the best with building the Gunns into facing FTR. But I guess a grudge match is fine compared to a title match we knew the Gunns weren’t winning anyway.
Great match from Brian Cage and Jack Perry, and I do like that JB is self aware about becoming a giantslayer. He called out Morrissey, got Morrissey and Moriarty, but I love that Hook came out. Now, Morrissey accepting Stokely’s orders to back off from Hook when Morrissey is as big as three Hooks is really too pro-wrestling convention. Morrissey should’ve wanted after Hook and Stokely struggling to stop him and then security and referees had to stop this. But I sensed Hook and JB teaming up so I’m happy it’s happening. But between the two, Moriarty is the one taking the loss in that tag match, and then we get Jungle Boy VS Big Bill 1v1 later.
Good promo from the Blackpool Combat Club to call out anyone and everyone, and for Moxley to again call out Hangman. Great promo from Hangman to share his experience of going through that concussion. And you can bet, win or lose against Sammy Guevara, Moxley and Hangman are going to brawl, and the Dark Order will be dragged into things to go up against the BCC by default. Good promo from the JAS, and I actually like that Jericho is forcing Garcia into a Young Boy role with Sammy Guevara as his senpai. This will get us back on track to what we should’ve got with Garcia’s internal conflict of pro-wrestler VS sports entertainer. And maybe this time, he lands on pro-wrestler.
Jericho putting over Action Andretti was awesome stuff, especially making that match so great. Jericho’s tantrum backstage was also awesome, and I hope they do something big with Action Andretti in 2023 after this. Good promo from Dustin and Best Friends to set up taking on Sabian, Seven, Butcher & Blade. That 8 Man could go either way, but we all know it sets up Cassidy VS Sabian for the All-Atlantic Championship. Good promo from Hayter and Shida to hype up their title match, good promo from Britt and Skye to set up a match for Rampage. And a very good match from Ruby and Tay. Ruby of course wins to help build her return, but I should’ve figured Anna Jay would attack. Not sure who Ruby gets as a partner, but I bet there’s another tag match from this.
And of course, great promos from both MJF and Starks to hype up the main event, and that main event was awesome stuff. That match in itself felt PPV worthy, but at the same time, I just knew somewhere in this match, MJF would use a low blow kick. MJF retains all his prizes, as I also expected, but it makes so much sense for Bryan to step up now. Bryan probably has to go through MJF’s usual rigmarole of challenges, especially since MJF went on about not defending the title unless on PPV, or in this case, big time episodes. MJF will insist on waiting until after Holiday Bash and New Year’s Smash, and then Revolution isn’t until March, so there might be eight different things MJF makes Bryan do if he wants to be the next challenger.
My Score: 8.9/10

PLAY BY PLAY
Tony Schiavone is in the ring.
He welcomes out the TNT Champion, Adam Cole! The fans in Albuquerque fire up as Cole makes his way to the ring. They join in on the “BOOM!” and “ADAM COLE, BAYBAY!” Cole then joins commentary, and Schiavone brings out the guests for this contract signing. First of all, alongside Stokely Hathaway, it is FTR! The fans boo as #BigStoke and his #TopGuys walk to the ring. They sarcastically pat Schiavone on the back and he asks for some decorum. Now to FTR’s opponents! First of all, Daniel Garcia! The fans cheer as Red Death makes his way out here, Daddy Magic by his side. They join everyone in the ring, and Garcia shakes Schiavone’s hand.
Schiavone notes Menard here with Garcia. Garcia’s partner for Sunday is one of the most decorated ROH wrestlers ever, THE Nigel McGuinness! The fans cheer as Nigel makes his way out, throws up deuces, and he joins the rest in the ring. Schiavone has the contract for the sanctioned tag team match. Stokely takes the contract while Cash Wheeler takes the mic. “Out of the kindness of our hearts, we asked you two out here, face to face, to give you one more chance to reconsider!” Cash hushes the fans, and he says no matter how much Garcia has hurt FTR, how much Garcia has stabbed them in the back, FTR still see Garcia as a son.
Is Garcia throwing all of that away for nobodies like Daddy Magic? And Nigel, you get paid to talk now, but it’ll pay to shut your mouth and listen! He doesn’t understand how much trouble he’s talked his way into! Cash tells the fans HE is talking! Nigel hides behind commentary and makes jokes, claim he’s retired, then physically interject himself into FTR’s business?! This Sunday, there is no desk to hide behind! There is no magic trick to save his ass! It is Nigel, a shell of his former self, against the greatest tag team of all time! Is Nigel sure he wants this? FTR finishes signing their part, and then they pass the contract back to Schiavone.
Schiavone hands the contract to Garcia, and Garcia also gets the mic. Garcia says he was having trouble hearing Cash there. The fans cheer Garcia, and Garcia says he does still care for FTR. That is not something that just goes away. But he has to look at them now and see they are selfish, narcissistic sociopaths! They say Garcia turned on them, but no, they turned on him. FTR turned their backs on everyone who has ever cared about them! They have crossed too many lines to count, and now Garcia stands up for himself. But not just for himself, but for Schiavone, for Daddy Magic, for Adam Copeland and his family, and for everybody here that has had enough of FTR!
The fans cheer and Garcia says FTR is right about one thing: They are the greatest tag team that wrestling has ever seen. But this Sunday, it won’t be a wrestling match. It’ll be a fight! Garcia is coming to fight! Nigel, Garcia knows you’re worried, you have that little voice of doubt. But the thing is, no matter what FTR says, no matter how Nigel feels, Garcia sees Nigel walking those halls. Garcia sees that look in his eyes. It was the look Nigel had when he was wrestling Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson, and being one of the GREATEST ROH Champions of all time! The fans cheer and Dax wants everyone to calm down.
Garcia says no matter what FTR says or how Nigel feels, Garcia and the fans all know, you still got it! The fans cheer that, “You Still Got It!” Garcia tells Nigel that if he’s not getting the Nigel we all know, then don’t bother signing the contract. Garcia signs his part, and Nigel speaks. Whether he still has it or not, we find out at Double or Nothing. But before Nigel signs, he needs FTR’s word, whatever that’s worth these days, that after Sunday, win, lose or draw… FTR does NOT touch Schiavone or Nigel ever again! You do not even TALK to them ever again! In fact, don’t even LOOK their way ever again! Because if they do, Nigel promises them, it’ll be Top Guys Out for good!
The fans cheer, FTR seems to accept that, and Nigel holds the contract. But Dax still has to talk… The fans boo, and Dax says hey, hold on. Before they all wrap this up, he wants to tell Nigel to look him in the eyes. Dax has to know. He has to know this is what Nigel wants. This isn’t 2009, when it was all about Nigel. It is 2025 and Nigel has a beautiful family he has to think about. Dax knows the business has beat Nigel up through the years. But if Nigel wants FTR to finish the job, then sign the contract. But if Nigel signs it, it is his blood on his own hands. If Nigel signs, what happens at Double or Nothing is not on FTR.
Or, Nigel can turn around, leave the ring, walk back to commentary “where you belong,” and they can just forget about all this. They’ll put it behind them. And then maybe, all of them can even be friends again. Dax pats Nigel on the cheek, and Nigel grabs the mic. “I’m only gonna ask you this once: Don’t put your hands on me again.” Dax laughs that off and says hold on! Why so serious? This is just business! Cuz if this were personal… Dax would’ve already splattered Nigel’s nose across his face. But this is business, and Sunday, FTR will be businessmen. Dax just hopes so can Nigel. Dax touches Nigel’s shoulder, Nigel grabs that arm!
Nigel puts Dax in a corner, Cash SHOVES Garcia into Menard! Stoke bails, Schiavone isn’t far behind, and Cash storms up on Nigel. Nigel HEADBUTTS Cash, and Garcia fires hands! Dax kicks Nigel, but Nigel WRINGS Dax’s arm! Garcia has Cash’s legs, Nigel has Dax’s arm! DRAGON TAMER and SHANKLY GATES!! FTR is tapping out! Menard dares Stoke to try something! Security rushes out, FTR is set free, and they retreat with Stoke while fans want to “LET THEM FIGHT! LET THEM FIGHT!” Nigel gets the mic back, and the pen, and he says if they want to look in his eyes, come Sunday, he’ll look into their souls!
“At Double or Nothing, THIS… ENDS!” Nigel signs and it is official! Will nothing stop Nigel & Garcia from making FTR tap out again?
Toni Storm speaks.
“So many women have died when they are young, only for their bodies to be buried much later. But you, Mina Shirakawa, have only ever made me feel very much alive. I have appreciated you, I have admired you, and by gawd, have I envied you. But now, you’re here to stay. The safari is over. And it’s much more difficult to survive the squared jungle when this pussy is on the prowl. I’ve always had a premonition that this journey would end in tragedy. So if there’s anyone can stop this belt from shining in my reflection at All In, then there is nobody more talented than you.
“I just have one request: Sunday, give me your damndest in the desert! Make me fight for my fate in Phoenix! Let’s drag out tits through the dirt, and let’s make every cactus cream in celebration! And then, decades from now, when we’re in the wrestler retirement home, giving Brutus Beefcake a lap dance, I will turn to you and say, ‘Dammit! You lusty, busty bastard! We lived!'” The Timeless One has come to terms with what could be, but what will happen when she and the Fighting Gravure Idol go Double or Nothing?

Mistico keeps moving, springboard and CROSSBODY!
Rugido clamps on, but Mistico dodges, the CHOP hits Rugido! Mistico then RANAS Magnus, and he dodges Volador y Rugido! Mistico comes back to RANA Rugido away, then he dodges Voladro to RANA again! The fans fire up as Mistico again rallies his team. Templario builds speed and he FOSBURY FLOPS! Down go Volador y Rugido! Templario sets them up, Magnus runs in at Mistico, but Mistico dodges and SUPERKICKS! Magnus wobbles, Mistico runs, and Mistico uses Magnus to get up and FLY! Down goes everyone else, and then Mascara CROSSBODIES Magnus! Magnus gets up to wrench and kick, then underhooks.
Mascara fights the lift, dodges the lariat, then pops up to POISON-RANA! Mascara drags Magnus to the drop zone, goes up top, and SHOOTING STARS! Cover, Mascara’s team wins!
Winners: Mistico, Templario y Mascara Dorada, by pinfall
The CMLL Trios Champions and their amigo in the CMLL Middleweight Champion take down the Mexican National Tag Team and the living legend that leads them! Will these stars shine even brighter once AEW visits Arena Mexico in June?
AEW hears from Anna Jay, Harley Cameron, Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford.
The Queenslayer says, “Penelope, Megan, we are not finished with you.” The Wild Aussie says, “We’ve still got plenty of fruit left on these vines!” They will have a tag team match with them. The Megasus says when weaklings keep trying, some call it perseverance. Megan just calls it delusion. She has beat them both, but was that not enough? Anna says she doesn’t care who, one of them is getting choked out! Harley says she’s got some grapes of WRATH coming! The Superbad Girl says if they want a match so bad on Sunday, then don’t worry about her. Megan tells them to pray God shows them mercy, because Megan never will. That is, unless they #BowDown!
And so it is official! The Double or Nothing Buy-In will see Harley & Anna VS Megan & Ford! Who will win big this Sunday to perhaps even head for golden opportunities for the Summer?
Kris Statlander speaks.
“Willow. Who do you think I hang out with? What do you think I do? What’d I ever do to you? Besides spear you off the stage, drop you headfirst onto thumbtacks, and choke you with a chain… You may have a point. But, here’s mine. I’m sorry. I’ve made mistakes, but I am a very dangerous person. So be careful who you push, because they might just push back.” The Galaxy’s Greatest gave a friendly warning, but it was still a warning. Will this #BornAgainKristen find herself ruining her testament over an old grudge?
“Speedball” Mike Bailey & Komander w/ Alex Abrahantes VS La Faccion Ingobernable!
Part two of the double main event is here, and it has even more high-flying, hard hitting lucha libre! Bailey is still getting his shot at Kazuchika Okada and the Continental Championship, but will he and the Commander of the Skies survive this Collision? Or will Rush y Dralistico make sure Bailey is in no shape to face the Rainmaker?
Rush makes his entrance, but where is Dralistico? Dralistico attacks from behind! The fans boo as Dralistico knocks Komander and Bailey down! The bell rings and Dralistico stomps away on Bailey. Dralistico then goes out to ROCK Komander, letting Rush go after Bailey with a whip into railing! Bailey falls but Rush stands him up to THROW into more railing! Dralistico does the same to Komander, then SMACKS him off the desk! Dralistico CHOPS Komander, Rush HEADBUTTS away on Bailey, and Rush says HE is number one! Dralistico BOOTS Komander down! Rush SMACKS Bailey off the desk, then grabs that can of iDrinq!
Rush SMASHES the can in Bailey’s face! The ref reprimands, Rush y Dralistico revel in the cheers and jeers, and they mug Bailey. They put Bailey in the ring, then THROW Komander into railing. The fans rally for Speedball, but Dralistico stomps him down, Dralistico drags Bailey up by his hair, puts him against the ropes, and Rush holds Bailey up so Dralistico can CHOP! Bailey might as well have been shot! Rush CHOPS, whips, but Bailey grabs ropes! Bailey BOOTS Rush, BOOTS Dralistico, then Komander tags in! DOUBLE MISSILE DROPKICK! LFI bails out, the fans fire up, and Komander coordinates with Bailey.
Komander and Bailey both build speed, and they both DIVE onto LFI! Then they trade, and they DIVE the other way! The fans fire up as the two slide back in, go again, and DIVE! But LFI say “Nope!” and let both men crash ‘n’ burn! The fans fire up while Collision goes picture in picture.
Bailey writhes, Rush stalks him, and Dralistico stands on the barriers to soak up cheers and jeers. Rush throws body shots on Bailey, HEABUTTS him, then leaves him behind to taunt fans. Meanwhile, Dralistico POSTS Komander! Dralistico puts Komander in a GROUND COBRA TWIST, Rush RAMS Bailey into the steel steps, and then Dralistico puts Komander in the ring. Dralistico hoists Komander up top, then HAMMERS away on him! Dralistico pulls at the mask, the ref reprimands, and Komander fights back. Dralistico traps Komander’s arm to CLAW at the mask! Komander still fights, so Dralistico puts him in the Tree of Woe, for a KICK!
Komander flops to the mat and Dralistico argues with the ref. Dralistico drags Komander from the corner to then tie up the legs and pull on an arm! Komander endures, Dralistico STOMPS the knees, and Dralistico soaks up heat. Dralistico bumps Komander off buckles, sits him down, then runs side to side for a SUPERKICK! Dralistico lounges on the ropes and says tranquilo! Dralistico tags Rush, LFI mugs Komander, and Rush even SPITS at Bailey! The ref keeps Bailey back while Collision returns to single picture. LFI mug Komander more, and Rush CHOPS! Komander sputters, Rush whips him corner to corner, then whips Dralistico.
Komander goes up and over Dralistico, rolls, ducks ‘n’ dodges, then he RANAS Dralistico hard! Rush runs up, Komander dodges and springboards to DROPKICK! The fans fire up, hot tag to Dralistico, and he waits on Komander. Komander crawls, hot tag to Bailey! Bailey BOOTS Dralistico, BOOTS Rush, then he fires LIGHTNING KICKS on Dralistico! The fans fire up and Bailey ENZIGIRIS! Dralistico runs up, Bailey mule kicks, AX KICKS, and BUZZSAWS! Then STANDING SHOOTING STAR! Cover, TWO! Bailey glares at Rush, the fans rally up, and Bailey sits Dralistico up again. PENALTY KICK! STANDING-
NO, Dralistico moves, Bailey lands out, and Dralistico DREAMCAST KICKS! Both men crawl, hot tag to Rush! Rush storms up on Bailey, eggs him on, and drags him up. Bailey ROCKS Rush, but Rush brushes that off. Rush ROCKS Bailey and eggs Bailey on. Bailey and Rush fire forearm after forearm, and then they CHOP back and forth! The fans fire up, Rush eggs Bailey on again, then he blocks Bailey’s kick! Rush trips Bailey, Bailey avoids the stomps! Bailey runs, ducks ‘n’ dodges, but Rush CHOPS! And CHOPS! Bailey runs, Rush dodges, ROLLING ELBOW! Bailey falls into a corner and the fans fire up!
Rush stomps away on Bailey, then runs corner to corner. Rush runs back in, feints the horns to BOOT Bailey! Rush says, “Tranquilo!” The fans are torn but Rush tags Dralistico. Rush sets Bailey up, Bailey shoves Rush away and Komander GAMANGIRIS! Rush flops out, Dralistico springboards in, but Bailey dodges! Bailey SUPERKICKS! Dralistico tumbles out, Komander is on the far corner! TRIANGLE JUMP MOONSAULT from Bailey, tightrope walk and ESCALARA from Komander! The fans are thunderous as Komander takes down LFI! Komander and Bayiley high-five, then they get Dralistico in the ring.
Komander puts Rush in the drop zone, and now both Komander and Bailey climb! They aim at LFI, DOUBLE SHOOTING STARS!! Cover, TWO?!? LFI survives and the fans can’t believe it! Abrahantes coaches his guys, “This is Awesome!” Bailey kicks Rush out, tags Komander in, and they focus on Dralistico! Komander springboards to FLYING DESTROYER!! Cover, RUSH BREAKS IT! Rush stands Komander up just to HEABUTT him back down! Bailey runs up, Rush sidesteps and SNAP GERMANS! Bailey flounders into a SLIDING KNEE! Rush fires up, the fans are torn, but he coordinates with Dralistico.
The fans duel as Rush goes out to get Bailey. Dralistico brings Komander up in a corner, and he underhooks, SUPER FACEBUSTER! Cover, TWO!?! Komander survives and the fans fire up! Rush runs up on Bailey but is sent into steel steps! Dralistico is shocked, but Komander gives him a POISON-RANA! Hot tag to Bailey! Bailey hurries to spin and TIME ADVENTURE! Komander adds the CIELITO LINDO!! Cover, Bailey’s team wins!
Winners: “Speedball” Mike Bailey & Komander, by pinfall
A high-speed combo wins it for- WAIT! The coin drops, and here comes Okada! The Continental Champion walks down the ramp, eyes on Bailey in the ring. Champion and challenger are face to face, and Bailey gives a respectful bow before offering a handshake. Okada reaches out, only to flip Bailey off! The fans are torn, but Bailey KICKS that finger and HEEL KICKS Okada! Okada tumbles out, Bailey builds speed, and Bailey FLIES! Down goes Okada and Bailey stands up with the belt! Will Speedball be too fast to be touched by the rain? Or will no one stop Okada’s reign of terror?
My Thoughts:
A very good Collision considering it is the go-home to Double or Nothing. But that said, it felt like a lot of last-minute promos were shoved onto this. Dustin & Sammy didn’t say anything more than what was said last night on Dynamite, and at least the one from Harley, Anna, Megan & Penelope established their match for The Buy-In. Toni’s was very good, as they always are, but it doesn’t add much from last night as the math already said Toni was winning. Very good promo for the tag team match contract signing, though, with a great brawl as part of it. Nigel & Garcia might win, but I mostly expect Adam Copeland to make his return as part of it.
Very good match from Mercedes VS Isis but it makes sense it wasn’t very long given we knew Mone would win. It was mostly a vehicle for one last confrontation of Hayter and Mone before the PPV. It still feels very likely that Mone wins so that she can face Toni and maybe they go title VS title at All In. Great stuff with the Don Callis Family throughout the night, all members getting wins tonight to stay strong. Great match of Paragon VS GYV, great win for Paragon, and instead of just cutting to the chase of Cole VS someone for the TNT Championship, they’re given us a Six Man Tag. That’s fine, because I expect whoever wins for Don Callis Family is the guy that faces Cole for the TNT Championship either at Fyter Fest or the first-ever “Summer Blockbuster.”
Maybe Excalibur misspoke but I know he called the lucha libre trios match a “main event.” Either way, great CMLL Six Man Tag, and naturally the Faces won that. It was just for a lot of fun, I would’ve thought maybe they could put this on the Buy-In, but it at least makes for good marketing on the road to Grand Slam: Mexico. And great tag match main event from Bailey & Komander VS LFI. Not sure what happened to them doing Titans of the Air, Komander & Hologram as a duo, but that’s typical AEW. Bailey’s team of course won so that he has momentum, and then Okada shows up so that Bailey can also stand tall over him. All that math adds up to Okada retaining at Double or Nothing, but it’ll be a great match for Bailey, too.
My Score: 8.8/10

Tony Schiavone is in the ring!
He brings up the Owen Hart Cup Finals, and the two men fighting for their chance at the AEW World Championship at All In. He introduces first, Hangman Adam Page! The fans fire up for the Blackhat Cowboy as he goes to the ring, and we notice the extra security already on hand. Schiavone then welcomes out the Aerial Assassin, Will Ospreay! Albuquerque fires up again as Ospreay sports his new baseball jersey style merchandise. Schiavone says both men know what is at stake. One goes on to All In: Texas to fight for the world title, upon winning the Owen Cup. Schiavone then turns things over to Ospreay and Hangman.
Ospreay thanks Schiavone and wants everyone to hear him out. He understands why there is security, but he won’t get physical. Will Hangman get physical? No? Good. Then he excuses the security and assures them, he’ll make sure they get paid for their time. Ospreay thanks them as they exit, and Ospreay says he just wants it to be him and Hangman. The fans cheer Ospreay for the gesture, and Ospreay tells Hangman that he has one very important question: “Do you still drink?” The fans boo but Ospreay says c’mon, not in a bad way! He just means, Hangman loves a good beer. And to be honest, Ospreay owes him an apology.
Ospreay says that when they got jumped the other day, Ospreay did take a swing on Hangman. But to be fair, Hangman gave him a headbutt. But like Ospreay’s dad says, when he gets hit in the face, it is a drastic improvement. But Ospreay does have some beers for them. The ring crew brings those over, and Ospreay hands Hangman one. Ospreay wants cheers, but Hangman stares him down. The fans are torn, Ospreay takes a swig, and says it’s fine. Ospreay puts his aside, and says while they need to get things off their chest, there is something else Ospreay wants to do.
Ospreay wishes to petition to Tony Khan and the AEW Board of Directors that Ospreay VS Hangman on Sunday are the main event. The fans like that idea! Ospreay says surely some still think he’s crazy. Why would Ospreay wanna follow one of the most destructive and brutal matches AEW has in Anarchy in the Arena? Why would Ospreay wanna follow three hours of amazing professional wrestling? Ospreay says to those people, “You do not know what is at stake!” The fans cheer, and Ospreay says not only is this about winning the beautiful Owen Hart Memorial trophy, not only is this about going to All In: Texas on Saturday, July 12th…
But the winner of this match is the person with the responsibility of bringing back that beautiful gold belt! The fans cheer that! Ospreay says he really wants this. He wants this so badly! He feels the moment he stepped here, he has done everything the right way. He leaves his home country on a Tuesday, arrives here, makes seven to 15 HOUR flights every single week! He barely sleeps on Tuesday, he is constantly jetlagged, doesn’t really know where he is, but he puts on his “crime fighting pants,” and he says ring the bell, bruv! The fans cheer that! Ospreay says he wants to wear the title with pride! To show it around the world!
And most importantly, he wants to bring it home. Ospreay brings up August 24th, Forbidden Door in London, the O2, an arena just 30 minutes from his home. There are people that have supported Ospreay from the ballrooms and the halls. He has been a young, immature man who has grown up right in front of them, and he wants to wear that title in front of them while he thanks them for their support! The fans also cheer that. But the other thing is, every Tuesday when he flies to the US is that he leaves his six-year-old son at home, and he wants nothing more than to walk into that building so his son can see him as WORLD CHAMPION!
The fans cheer more, and Ospreay understands how much Hanger wants it. But Ospreay wants it just that little bit more. The fans cheer Ospreay on, but then the “COWBOY SH*T!” rises. Hangman tells Ospreay, “That is the difference between you and I. And that will be the difference between you and I on Sunday. Will, you want this, you want it bad. And I know that feeling, because I have lived it. And I know that you understand that in ALL of professional wrestling, there is no prize grander, there is no greater honor, than to be the All Elite Wrestling World Champion, I know you know that!
“But Will… For you, this could be a professional accomplishment. Granted, it is the biggest professional accomplishment either you or I could ever dream of having! But it is that: A professional accomplishment. For me, this is personal. I don’t want this opportunity, I need it.” The fans cheer that, too! Hangman says he has WASTED two years of his life, filled with nothing but grief, sorrow, and hate! In those two years, Hangman has not won a single tournament or a single championship. The one thing that Hangman did win brought him nothing but the same. The worst of it wasn’t even here. It was when he was at home.
It was last Christmas morning, when Hangman’s son sat on the floor… playing with his new toys, he looked up to see his dad staring out the window, looking for someone he knew would never come back! How many times in two years did his son look at Hangman and feel disappointment?! Hangman NEEDS this!! When Hangman goes home, he needs his wife to look at him and not feel pity! She needs to see the man she fell in love with all those years ago! For Hangman’s kids to look up to him, to know they have the father they deserve! And for all these people who supported him when he deserved it the least to know that he can be the kind of man that THEY can believe in!
And Hangman needs this for himself. Because Hangman needs to know that there can be some kind of light at the end of this two year tunnel through Hell… Hangman needs it, because he needs to know Ospreay was wrong when Ospreay said that for Hangman, this was too little, too late. Ospreay scowls a bit as the fans get fired up. Ospreay tells Hangman, “So what’re you planning on doing about it? You’re gonna wrap a chair over my skull? You gonna beat me so bad that I have to retire, like you did Christopher Daniels? I’m not going down that path. Cuz I’ve been there, and it took a lot for me to come back.”
As silly as this might sound, Ospreay says he is showing up, and he is doing his best. And sometimes, his best hasn’t been good enough. He’ll admit that he’s lost. Lost bad. But he’s never lost because he dragged the ref around to get an advantage. He’s never whined to his boss about not getting his way. If Ospreay has lost, he has lost leaving it all in this ring! And if he’s lost, he at least won the fans’ respect! The fans cheer that, and Ospreay says more importantly… He won their trust! Hangman asks if that’s enough! Is that enough for Moxley and the Death Riders? Ospreay doesn’t know!! He doesn’t know what it takes!
Ospreay wrestled Moxley twice, and he lost both times! He doesn’t know how to do it, but Hangman does! So then show Ospreay! Show THAT man on Sunday! That fire, that animal! Because of Ospreay can beat that Hangman, then Ospreay knows he can beat Moxley! The fans fire up more, and Ospreay says Hangman used to be a pure-hearted man, and he can also be a bad man! He is a Cowboy! The one we’re meant to look towards when times are hard! But he hasn’t been doing that! He’s been staring out of the window! Hangman’s been looking for Swerve! His attention hasn’t been on being The Guy, but on someone else.
And Ospreay gets it, when someone crosses the threshold from business to personal, you gotta handle it. We could give Hangman a month, two months, three, but an entire YEAR?! An entire year has changed Hangman! The kids don’t look up to him! The men, the boys backstage, they lost respect for him. And the women have screamed in terror when Hangman wanted to kill Swerve! Ospreay is not that guy. Ospreay is just the guy that’ll show up and do his best. But before writing Ospreay off, Ospreay’s best has beaten MJF, Bryan Danielson, Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, anyone else you can name!
Wanna know what? Because Ospreay is the best in the EFFIN’ WORLD!! The fans are really fired up now! Ospreay tells Hangman, he knows that when the bell rings, anything can happen. If it is Hangman, Ospreay will be happy for him. And if Hangman thinks he has no friends, then it’ll take more than one person off of Moxley. Ospreay says if Hangman needs a friend, someone watching his back, Ospreay will have his back. Ospreay hopes the same goes back from Hangman. If Ospreay wins, hopefully Hangman will have his back. Ospreay then offers the toast again. So what Ospreay is saying, Cowboy, “Meet me in the desert! I’m calling you out for a shootout, bruv!”
Ospreay chugs his bear, HHH spits some of it, and then tosses his bottle. Hangman chugs his beer down to the very last drop, and the duel is set! Which one of these gunslingers hits the mark to then take aim at The Maniac in Texas?
Jon Moxley walks into the building.
Marina Shafir follows the Maniac AEW World Champion, and he seethes all the way. “Tensions are rising in AEW. The spoils will go to those that embrace the anarchy.” Moxley goes from pavilion to bleachers as he makes his entrance. Anarchy in the Arena is no longer the main event, but will this appetizer make up for that?
Six Man Tag: Jon Moxley & The Young Bucks VS Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe & “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs!
The trios sort out, Joe starts against Moxley and they go right to throwing hands! The fans fire up as Joe gets the edge, “JOE! JOE! Matt ROCKS Swerve in the back, then puts him in the ropes. Nick goes up, DRAPING SWANTON BOMB! Matt covers, Hobbs breaks it! The fans cheer and Hobbs coaches Swerve. Matt paces while Dynamite goes back to picture in picture.

There is a ring count on Swerve and Matt while the fans rally up. Swerve and Matt crawl, Swerve puts Matt in at 8. The fans cheer as Swerve drags Matt over. Tag to Hobbs and then Swerve climbs. Hobbs brings down his straps, but Moxley is in! Moxley kicks Hobbs, underhooks, but Hobbs werernches out to then hit a SPINEBUSTER! Then SPINEBUSTER for Matt! Nick springboards in, but SPINEBUSTER onto Matt!! Hobbs handles town bidness three times over, then he tags Swerve back in! Swerve is up, but Moxley SHOVES Hobbs into him! Then CUTTER for Hobbs! Joe LARIATS Moxley up and out!
The Bucks DOUBLE SUPERKICK Joe!! The Bucks hurry after Swerve, DOUBLE SUPERPLEX!! Then the E V P- NO, Swerve ducks and knees hit together! COQUINA CLUTCH for Nick! O’Conner Roll for Matt!! Swerve & Opps win!!
Winners: Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe & “Powerhouse” Hobbs, by pinfall
But Moxley and Matt attack! The fans boo as now Yuta & Claudio join in, too! The Death Riders and Bucks mug Swerve & Opps, and Marina even mugs Nana! BUT SHIBATA IS BACK! The Wrestler fires off fast hands on everybody! Shibata whips and BOOTS Yuta in the corner! Shibata fires more forearms, but Claudio is back! Shibata ROCKS Claudio first! Shibata fires forearms in the corner, he is getting payback for that chair gut buster! But Marina LOW BLOWS Shibata!! The fans boo but HERE COMES WILLOW! The Babe with the Power has been a Problem solver, and she SPEARS Marina!
The fans fire up, because here comes KENNY OMEGA! The Cleaner is a missing piece to the puzzle, but he gives Yuta a SNAP DRAGON! SNAP DRAGON for Claudio! He blocks Matt’s superkick, Matt begs for mercy, but he gets a SNAP DRAGON instead! Matt is on the ropes, Omega takes aim, and everyone joins in with the BANG!! V-TRIGGER on the ropes!! But Omega isn’t done, he drags Matt up. Swerve says hold on a moment. Swerve brings out a TABLE!! The fans fire up and Omega likes that idea. Joe helps set the table up, Omega brings Matt to the apron, and the fans are thunderous! Omega Electric Chair Lifts, but Claudio saves Matt!
The fans boo but The Bucks & Death Riders retreat! Joe shouts, “OH NO NO NO NO NO! A sane man would realize I’ve got all your asses this weekend and I can wait ’til then. But y’know what? I’m not a sane man, and we don’t give a s*it! We’re coming after you tonight in Albuquerque, whether you like it or not!!” Joe has put The Bucks & Death Riders on notice, will this fight go all the way into Collision and the rest of the week?
Backstage interview with The Hurt Syndicate.
Alicia Atout is with Montel Vontavious Porter, Shelton Benjamin, Bobby Lashley, and their other lawyer on this very exciting evening. MJF is set to finally put pen to paper and join the team. How excited are they for this new chapter? MVP says yes, this is a momentous occasion. They are adding a fourth man. But regarding the excitement, you’d need to ask Max about that. “Oh, you can ask him, baby!” MJF steps in, wearing a brand new suit that is covered in gold leaf. Mark Sterling is also here, and MVP likes the suit. MVP says they’ll get some food, let his lawyer handle the legalese, and they’ll see MJF later.
MJF says absolutely. He fist bumps the Hurt Syndicate on the way out, and tells Alicia to scoot. MJF then tells Sterling that he did it! And a pleasure doing business with MVP’s lawyer, too. Sterling presents MJF with a pen, but Dynamite goes to break. Will it all be to MJF’s liking? Or will there be some fine print that bites him in the ass?
The Hurt Syndicate heads to the ring.
Mark Sterling already has a table set up as MVP & The AEW World Tag Team Champions enter, and MVP grabs a mic. “Attention AEW viewing audience. This is an official announcement from the Hurt Syndicate. Tonight’s a very special night. As you know, you’ve been following this drama as it has unfolded. We finally got the All Mighty to change his position, and tonight we officially induct our fourth member into the Hurt Syndicate.” The fans boo a bit, and MVP says hold on, they shouldn’t boo that. But he gets why they’re booing. Maxwell Jacob Friedman is better than all of them, and they know it.
So without further ado, the newest member of the Hurt Syndicate… Maxwell Jacob Friedman! M J F! The Scumbag makes his entrance, he has them cut his music, and he says he’d boo, too, if he was born and raised in Albuquerque. “Gentlemen, I gotta tell you, this reminds me of when I was a young little lad. My mother sat me down, and she said, ‘Son, the most important moment of your life is the day you marry the love of your life.’ And now that I’m older and wiser, I gotta say, clearly, that dumb b*tch never joined the Hurt Syndicate!” The fans boo, but MJF says, “Excuse me, I’m talking. Thanks, though, I appreciate the input.”
MVP also tells the fans to show respect to MJF. The only thing that sucks here is Albuquerque! They paid money to be here, so shut up and show respect to the young genius! MJF thanks Montel for that, and says he loves him. It is such a shame that such a great moment has to happen here, in a state nobody remembers exists. They don’t even have good sports teams here! Nobody cares about Albuquerque! Anyway, they’ve had their fun. Smart Mark, explain the legalese. Sterling assures that the contract benefits both parties. MJF will sign first, then MVP, Shelton & Lashley will sign to make MJF an official member of the Hurt Syndicate, LLC.
MJF tells the fans no one asked them, so please quiet down. MVP suggests booing their bosses when they go back to the jobs they hate. MJF finishes his part, then MVP signs his. Shelton signs, MVP tells more fans to shut up, and Lashley is last, much like he was with giving his thumbs up. Lashley hesitates, though. Now that it is really real, he might have second thoughts. Lashley double checks, MJF says he trusts “Bob.” MVP tells one fan in particular to shut up, men are conducting business! Lashley & Shelton check with their lawyer, MJF asks what’s the problem. Lashley goes back to the contract, and he works up the effort to sign his name.
The fans boo, but there’s nothing to it! MJF says this is the greatest moment of his life! He is now the newest member of- Wait, the Sons of Texas head out here? The fans cheer Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara, aka the ROH World Tag Team Champions, aka the #1 contenders to the AEW World Tag Team Champions! Dustin has a mic but MJF says cut the music! And he tells them to look at him! Dustin & Sammy must be as dumb as these fans are ugly! He wants the White trash honkies to realize they have no right to interrupt this! Dustin tells MJF to shut up, “You stupid SOB!” All MJF does week in and week out is talk! MJF barely wrestles! He has no work ethic, grit, or even…
Well, Dustin will say this. Dustin hates MJF’s guts. He needs MJF to know that. MVP, you and Dustin do go way back. And Dustin has the utmost respect for MVP. He does. But it is in MVP’s best interest as businessmen to watch out for that snake in the grass. MJF says no, that’s not a thing. Dustin say she and Sammy are “day one guys!” Six years ago, Double or Nothing, they did something special! They changed the wrestling landscape! It was an unforgettable night. Fast-forward to now, this Sunday in Phoenix. They have an opportunity that they earned. They want more gold! They’re UNDEFEATED as ROH World Tag Team Champions!
The Sons of Texas have earned their AEW World Tag Team Championship match. Bobby, Shelton, Dustin wants you to look at him when he talks to you. Word is, they like to hurt people. Well, jump on Dustin and see if you can hurt him! He dares you! MVP says please, Dustin, be careful what you wish for. Dustin says there is nothing they can do to him and Sammy, bigger men have tried! And they may not know this, but Dustin & Sammy have both gone to Hell, looked the Devil in his eyes, and kicked his teeth in to claw their way out! They are day one, working around the clock, no off days! Do not think this will be a walk in the park, because it is not!
The fans cheer as Dustin says they fight with heart, honor, fire, passion, soul, and their work ethic is untouchable. One more thing: If Dustin were a betting man, he would bet on day one guys. See you at Double or Nothing. Mic drop from The Natural, and both he and the Spanish God are ready! But will they be able to topple The All Mighty & The Standard of Excellence? Or will Lashley & Shelton just have to hurt people?
Backstage interview with Kazuchika Okada.
Renee Paquette is with the Rainmaker and says last week, “Speedball” Mike Bailey called him out because he is eyeing the Continental Championship. Does he have an official response? “Yeah.” Then what is it…? “I’m the Continental Champion, I say what goes. Speedball, you do not call me out. I call you out! Double or Nothing, you find out why I’m then Continental Champion and you’re not.” Then it is official! But Renee notes that Speedball has yet to be pinned since arriving in AEW. Is Okada at all concerned? Okada says there is a first time for everything, trust him. Okada leaves, but comes back to tell Speedball, “Trust me.” Oh, okay…
The Rainmaker doesn’t hit his signature insult, but will he hit his signature move and be the first to beat Bailey? Or will Speedball be the NEW Continental Champion?
Ricochet VS Anthony Bowens w/ Billy Gunn!
The One & Only picked on Zach Gowen, then beat him in a match, only to beat him down after. Mark Briscoe made the save and then the challenge, so now Ricochet has a STRETCHER MATCH waiting for him on Sunday! Will Ricochet be too worried about that to focus on the 5 Tool Player? Or will Ricochet use the Pride of Pro-Wrestling as a tune-up?
The bell rings, the fans rally, and the two circle. They feel things out, but Ricochet says hold on. He taunts Daddy Ass, but Bowens stops Ricochet from doing the crotch chop! Bowens then fires hands on Ricochet, ROCKS him, and CHPOS him in the corner! The fans cheer Bowens and he whips corner to corner. Ricochet reverses, Bowens goes up and rolls. Ricochet runs up, Bowens hurdles then headlocks. Ricochet powers out, Bowens hurdles, then Bowens FLOAT OVER DDTS! Ricochet flounders to ropes, Bowens LARIATS him up and out! The fans fire up with Bowens again, and Ricochet gets in Billy’s face.
Billy steps and Ricochet flinches! Bowens is there to SLAP Ricochet on his bald head! Bowens whips Ricochet into railing, then he SCISSOR FINGERS~ with Billy! Bowens leaves Ricochet behind, Billy pushes Ricochet in, but the ref reprimands. Bowens runs up, Ricochet dodges, and then Ricochet comes back. Bowens puts Ricochet on the apron, GAMANGIRIS, then he brings Ricochet up. Ricochet fights the suplex, then he drags Bowens to the apron. Bowens BODY SHOTS, fireman’s carries, but Ricochet grabs at the ref! The ref shakes free but Ricochet slips down. Ricochet POSTS Bowens, then SWEEPS the legs!
The fans boo but Ricochet is all fired up, and Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Ricochet taunts the fans, returns to the ring, and Billy helps Bowens. Ricochet CLOBBERS Bowens as he gets in the ring! Ricochet CHOKES Bowens on ropes, lets off, and he soaks up heat. Ricochet storms up and CHOPS! Bowens kicks Ricochet, CHOPS him, and then goes to a corner. Bowens runs up, Ricochet dodges and fires hands! Ricochet CHOPS, then he drags Bowens around. Ricochet taunts the scissor fingers and digs them into Bowens’ eyes! The ref reprimands, Ricochet stops, and he stands Bowens up to throw knees. Ricochet snapmares Bowens, runs, and then KOKESHI HEADBUTTS! Ricochet taunts the fans while Bowens writhes.
Ricochet goes back to Bowens but Bowens throws hands! Bowens rises, ROCKS Ricochet, then runs, but into a DROPKICK! Ricochet taunts Billy, argues with him, then covers Bowens. TWO, but Ricochet stalks Bowens to a corner. Ricochet CHOKES Bowens on the ropes again, stops as the ref counts, and then taunts the fans again. Ricochet goes back to Bowens but Bowens KICKS from below! Bowens kicks again, but Ricochet blocks to YANK Bowens from the corner. Ricochet then headlocks and rains down fists! The ref reprimands, Ricochet stops, and Billy is frustrated on Bowens’ behalf.
Ricochet taunts Bowens, CLUBS him down, then stalks him again. Ricochet looms over Bowens and CLUBS him down again as Dynamite returns to single picture. Ricochet drags Bowens up, puts one out, but Bowens fights the lift! Ricochet CLUBS Bowens, UPPERCUTS him, and CHOPS him! The fans boo but Ricochet runs, only for Bowens to blow past! Ricochet ducks, Bowens dodges, and Bowens mule kicks! Bowens front KICKS, then runs, FAMOUSER! The fans fire up and Bowens has Ricochet for a torture rack! Swing and SLAM! Cover, TWO! Ricochet survives and Bowens is frustrated but the fans rally behind Bowens.
Bowens waits on Ricochet, clinches, but Ricochet fights the Arrival with elbows! Ricochet spins but Bowens ROCKS him first! Ricochet hits back, Bowens ROCKS him again! The hand fly, Ricochet spins but into a BOOT! Bowens runs, but into a TIGER WALL KICK! SOBAT! FRONT KICK! But Bowens fires off the Rock, Paper, Scissors, SUPERKICK!! Cover, TWO!! Ricochet survives and Bowens grows frustrated. The fans rally, Bowens stalks Ricochet and waistlocks, but Ricochet slips out of the back suplex! V-TRIGGER! HEEL KICK! Ricochet goes to the corner, locks ‘n’ loads, and SPIRIT- NO, Bowens ducks it! Clinch and ARRIVAL!!
The fans fire up and Bowens signals the scissors! The fans join in, Bowens makes it a fist, MOLLY WHOP!! But Ricochet is sent out of the ring! Billy wants to fetch Ricochet for Bowens but the ref won’t let him! Ricochet crawls, Bowens brings him up, but RICOCHET HAS THE SCISSORS!! HE JABS BOWENS IN THE FORHEAD!!! The fans boo and Ricochet reloads! SPIRIT GUN!!! Cover, Ricochet wins!!
Winner: Ricochet, by pinfall
Just as Ricochet stole Swerve’s coat, and just as he stole Zach Gowen’s prosthetic leg, Ricochet steals this win and he steals the title of “Scissor King” from Bowens! But wait! Mark Briscoe is here with a stretcher! The fans cheer as Mark sneaks up, and he gets Ricochet’s attention! Ricochet freaks out as Mark says this is where he’s going on Sunday! Mark RAMS Ricochet with the stretcher, fires hands, and then scoops him onto the stretcher! Mark positions it at ringside, goes up top, but Ricochet scrambles away! Mark hops down and he tells Ricochet there’s no running away at Double or Nothing! Will Ricochet #ManUp or shut up against the Sussex County Chicken?
BREAKING NEWS for Thursday Night Collision!
While it is official for Double or Nothing, Speedball has business to handle before facing Okada! Bailey teams up with Komander against La Faccion Ingobernable! Will Bailey & Komander wrangle these bulls? Or will they just get the horns? And before she battles Jamie Hayter for the Women’s Owen Hart Cup, Mercedes Mone must defend her AEW TBS Championship against CMLL’s Reyna Isis! Will The CEO lose her belt before going for the trophy? Or can #ThreeBeltsMone build momentum for Double or Nothing?
Stokely Hathaway & FTR speak.
#BigStoke says, “Look what we have here. A contract in my email for your tag match at Double or Nothing, live on PPV this Sunday. And here’s the thing. We could sign this through a dopey Acrobat, but when you look to my left, when you look to my right, you see two men. You see two men who respect and honor the tradition of professional wrestling. You see the greatest tag team alive today, F T R! So we’re gonna do something special. Because Nigel McGuiness, Daniel Garcia, they want to look you in the eyes before they sign this contract. They wanna make sure that this is something that you really want to do.
“And you can even bring along your buddy, Daddy Magic.” Stokely does the fake cough trick as he calls Matt Menard “Dick ass.” Dax gives Stokely a cough drop and Stoke says we will all have the privilege and honor of seeing Nigel sign the last contract he will ever sign in his wrestling career, tomorrow night on Collision, live on TBS. #TopGuysOut. Will Nigel & Garcia be ready for anything FTR might try to pull this close to Double or Nothing?
Renee Paquette is in the ring.
The fans cheer and she says that tonight, we’ve already heard from the Men’s Owen Hart Cup Finalists. Now it is time to hear from the ladies. Renee has chairs set up and reminds us that these two women want to beat the ever loving crap outta each other, so she’ll do her best to keep things in order. That said, please welcome out the Hardest Hitting Hayter there is, the former AEW Women’s World Champion, Jamie Hayter! The fans cheer as Jamie makes her way out to the ring. Hayter takes her seat on Renee’s left, and now we welcome out The CEO, Mercedes Mone. The fans aren’t as excited as Mone struts her way out in her 1990s pop art bodysuit.
Mone takes her seat to Renee’s right, the fans duel, and Renee wants to start with Jamie. Jamie has accomplished something in AEW that Mone has not yet, and that is to hold THE AEW Women’s World Championship. Now, Jamie was sidelined with an awful back injury, but she has fought her heart out just to be back here. But this match makes it seem like Jamie is the underdog. How does it feel to Jamie? Jamie says if she’s the underdog, then so be it. Jamie just hates when people look past her, not realizing how that is a surefire way to get yourself hurt. It doesn’t matter if Jamie is on top of the mountain or deep on rock bottom, she will crawl her way back every single time.
Jamie will fight again and again and again, because that’s just who she is! She’s not some obnoxious C E O~! She doesn’t have people running around doing her dirty work. And she doesn’t walk around here like she’s the best thing since sliced bread! The fans cheer that, and Jamie says yeah, she’s rough around the edges. She doesn’t have it like Mone has it. Jamie will admit to it. But she’s still a fighter. Every single person sat out here tonight, everybody watching at home, helped mold Jamie into just that! This means more to Jamie than it does Mone, and they both know it! It really, really does.
Jamie says this isn’t even about a title anymore. Not to Jamie! It is more than that. This is about not being forgotten. The fans cheer, and Jamie tells Mone that when the bell rings, the confetti falls, and the cup is lifted, if it ain’t Jamie doing it, then what the hell does that even mean for her? Is she just not good enough? Should she even come back? What’s her fight? What’s her why? Will anyone even care? Mone’s guess is as good as hers, but as always, Jamie’s back is against the wall. But what she does is she laces up her boots and she hits bloody hard! That just who Jamie Hayter is! The fans cheer that!
Renee turns to Mone and says Jamie is bringing a new level of intensity even in Mone. Is Mone worried Jamie will be the first woman to beat her in singles competition since joining AEW? The fans cheer that idea! Mone says, “Worried? Renee. Me, worried? Do you not know who the Hell you’re talking to? Jamie Hayter, you think you have me all figured out, but you don’t. Because I am more than just a champion. I’m a revolution. I am the Beyonce of Women’s Wrestling! And I’m not looking past you, I’m looking straight through you like the glass doll that you are.” The fans boo but Mone says she always gets what she wants.
And her destiny is our reality. And the reality is, she will be headed to All in: Texas to become THE AEW Women’s World Champion! The fans are torn, but Mone says Jamie wants to throw shade at her success. Mone is the greatest TBS Champion ever! 360 days and counting, 25-0 in singles competition! She didn’t get there by luck, but by hard work and dedication. So Jamie, at Double or Nothing, Mone will show you why she’s the CEO. It is more than just about winning, but about leaving her legacy. Jamie, Mone wants you to bring your best, to be the best, to be the fighter that you say you are.
Because Double or Nothing will not be where Jamie’s story begins, but where her chapter in Mone’s story ends! Mone laughs, the fans boo, but Jamie has a rebuttal. She wants to ask everyone here tonight, “Have you noticed something a little bit different about Mercedes? She’s looking a little bit lighter, if you will. Something’s missing, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.” Jamie looks Mone up and down, and then says she figured it out! Mone lost the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship! Jamie remembers because she watched Resurgence. That was Mone’s destiny, and Mone’s destiny is to now lose everything!
Mone SHOVES Jamie down! Mone rains down fists on Jamie, Renee bails out, and Mone shoves the chairs aside. Mone is pissed as she makes Jamie look at the belts she still has. But then Hayter grabs an arm, and gives Mone HAYTERADE!! But then Timeless Toni Storm is here! The fans cheer as THE AEW Women’s World Champion is here already, wanting to see her potential challengers before the big night. But at the same time, she’s going to watch her next challenger in person while on commentary! The Fighting Gravure Idol and the Princess of the Black Throne are in the main event, will it all be about #MinaNow?
Mina Shirakawa VS Julia Hart!
Dynamite returns as Toni continues to revel in the cheers before sitting down at commentary. With that, Mina makes her entrance, followed by Julia’s. The bell rings and the fans rally as Mina and Julia circle. The two tie up, are in a deadlock, and then Julia headlocks. Mina powers up and out, drops down, then goes to hip toss, but Julia blocks! Julia gets a leg up, FLIPS, but Mina swings! Julia dodges, wrenches, and YANKS on the arm! Julia goes to a corner, knuckle locks, and climbs. The fans duel as Julia tightrope walks, and she goes OLD SCHOOL! Down goes Mina, Julia runs, but Mina ducks the blindside lariat!
Mina shimmies and shakes, the fans cheer, and Mina blocks a kick to CLUB the leg! Mina CHPOS, and then says it is her turn! Mina goes up, up, and shakes before she goes OLD SCHOOL with a knee drop! Mina shakes more and the fans cheer more. Toni promises that she is not here to make innuendo, just dry sexual comments on occasion. Mina runs in, Julia dodges then comes back, but Mina dodges in return. Mina ROCKS Julia, goes up and FLYING CHUCKS! Mina runs, DROPKICKS the legs out, and brings Julia around. Mina steps through, Julia kicks and kicks, then runs! Mina slides to trip Julia up!
Mina waves to Toni, says she’ll be champion, and Toni asks, “Really? Be careful now.” Julia is there to ROCK Mina! Toni says she told her so. Julia RAMS Mina into the apron, CHOPS her, then pushes her into the ring. Toni is nonplussed, this is going as her “script” says it would. Julia storms in after Mina while Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Julia steps on Mina, TWO, but Julia drops down to DRIBBLE Mina off the mat! Cover, TWO! Mina is tougher than that but Julia drags her around. Julia whips Mina to a corner, runs in and LARIATS! Then she stomps a mudhole into Mina! Julia digs her boot in, the ref counts, and Julia steps off at 4. Julia drags Mina up, brings her around, but Mina CHOPS! Julia CHOPS, then reels Mina in. Julia snap suplexes, covers, TWO! Julia is annoyed but she drags Mina into a chinlock. Mina endures, reaches out, then fights up. Mina fires body shots, but Julia KNEES low. Julia whips, ELBOWS Mina down, then paces.
Luther fans Toni given the New Mexico heat. Julia clamps onto Mina with the motorcycle stretch but Mina endures again. Mina fights to turn things around, only for Julia to wrap her in a straitjacket stretch! Mina endures, pushes back to a cover, TWO! Julia clamps onto Mina with a SLEEPER! Mina fights around, Julia shifts to become a backpack, but Mina fights up. Mina JAWBREAKERS free! Julia wobbles, but she ROCKS Mina in the back! Dynamite returns to single picture as Julia stands mina up. Mina fires forearms, Julia fires back, and the fans rally. Julia runs, but into a SOBAT! Mina runs to SLIDING KNEE!
The fans fire up and Mina waits on Julia. Julia stands, into a ROLLING ELBOW! Julia is back up, but Mina LARIATS! Mina grins, runs corner to corner, but she has to block a boot! DRAGON SCREW! Julia writhes, Mina storms up and has the leg. Mina steps through, but Julia BOOTS her away! Julia goes to a corner, Mina runs in, but Julia goes up! And she reels Mina into the TARANTULA!! The fans cheer, the ref counts, and Julia lets Mina go. Julia steps in, but into an URAKEN! The fans fire up and Mina goes to the apron. Mina climbs, brings Julia in, and FLYING SLINGBLADES! Cover, TWO!!
The fans fire up as Julia survives and Mina grows frustrated. Mina drags Julia up, dragon sleepers, “This is Awesome!” as Julia fights through! STO! Julia then drags Mina to the drop zone and stomps her! Julia goes up, up, and HART SAULTS! Mina moves, Julia lands on her feet, and her leg jams! Mina DROPKICKS the leg out! Mina SMASHES the knee, then has the legs for the FIGURE- NO, Julia cradles! TWO, and Mina hurries to her feet! ROLLING ELBOW, and then URAKEN!! Julia falls, the fans fire up, and Mina drags Julia into the dragon sleeper! GLAMOROUS DRIVER- NO, Julia slips out, rolls Mina up, TWO!!
Mina has Julia’s arm! Chicken wing, roll, ghost pin! MINA WINS!!
Winner: Mina Shirakawa, by pinfall
Toni is impressed as Mina snatches another one! Mina taunts Toni, Toni tells commentary that she is not worried, but then Julia BLINDSIDES Mina! The fans boo as Julia throws hands! Mina shoves Julia, trips her up, and has the legs! FIGURE FOUR!! The fans “WOO~” while Julia suffers, but SKYE BLUE is here! Skye BOOTS Mina down, then rains down fists! The fans boo but Toni storms into the ring! Storm drags Skye off Mina, then GERMAN SUPLEXES! Skye flops out, but Julia storms up! SLAP from Toni, URAKEN from Mina! The dark clouds have rolled away, and now Mina grabs the belt off the apron.
Mina brings the belt to Toni, but promises to take it from her on Sunday. They tug-o-war, Mina SHOVES Toni! Toni comes back, but Mina blocks the kick for a DRAGON SCREW! Mina puts Toni in a corner, ties up those legs around the post, HANGING FIGURE FOUR!! The ref reprimands, Luther calls for reinforcements, and the fans are going nuts! Mina lets go when she’s satisfied, and now Toni might be in trouble. Will it only get worse for Toni when it’s time to go Double or Nothing?
Backstage interview with The Young Bucks.
Renee gets a word from them as they’re on their way out. Nick says they don’t have time, they have a flight to catch. Matt says hold on, they can say this. Remember how earlier tonight, Joe and his crew promised to get their hands on The Bucks? Well, it is the end of the night, nothing happened, so that makes Joe a liar. See you at the PPV. The Bucks head for the exit, but Joe is there! He SMASHES them with a trash can! Hobbs joins in, the luggage is also a weapon, and things go to the backstage area! But the Death Riders are there! They brawl 5v2, but Willow joins in! Marina goes after Willow, Swerve shows up, and so do Shibata and Omega!
Swerve has a chain, Omega has a trash can, and now THIS is an appetizer! They brawl out onto the stage, using the tron and the railing as part of this! Marina is sent into railing! Omega CHUCKS a trash can into Moxley! Swerve CHOKES Nick and puts him in the ring! The fans rally as things go down the ramp, Dynamite’s theme song plays in the spirit of Anarchy in the Arena! Omega has Swerve’s chain and uses it to CHOKE Nick! Joe BOOTS Moxley against barriers! Omega CLUBS Nick, but Nick HOTSHOTS Omega! Things have turned around from earlier tonight as The Bucks drag Swerve to the table! Gabe CHOKES Omega, puts him on the outside, and now Omega is put on the other table! The Bucks climb the corners, Yuta makes Nana watch!
STEREO MACHO ELBOW AND FROG SPLASH, DOWN THROUGH THE TABLES!! Albuquerque loses their minds, and the evil alliance of Death Riders and Elite stands tall! How much more chaotic will things get when it’s Anarchy in the Arena?
My Thoughts:
A great episode, even for being a go-home that was light on matches. But at the same time, it had more promos and build. Awesome face-to-face promo from Ospreay and Hangman, and even with the passion and bringing up the past, these guys stayed Faces and are keeping it at “may the best man win.” As such, that really keeps things up in the air. Either guy would make a great challenger for Moxley, especially if the story is that Hangman and Ospreay will work together to make sure it is a fair fight. Also a great promo segment from Hayter and Mone with how they brought some fire to that moment. Mone losing her cool over Hayter bringing up her loss was good stuff, but Hayter standing tall makes me think Mone wins now.
Great segue from Mone and Hayter to Toni watching Mina VS Julia. Great match for the main event, but naturally Mina wins to have momentum. Skye Blue showing up and Toni getting involved was also good stuff, but I’m a bit surprised Mina and Toni took it that far. Mina standing tall over Toni on top of her match momentum, clearly Toni retains at Double or Nothing. Then it will be Toni VS Mone, and I would think Mone retains her title against Reyna Isis tomorrow night. And since we’re not going double or nothing on titles, maybe we go all in, with Mone putting up her TBS Championship against Toni’s Women’s World Championship, with the winner becoming the first dual AEW Women’s Champion.
Good promo from Stokely & FTR to set up their contract signing on Collision, and that will be a good segment for the go-home. Pretty fun stuff with MJF and the Hurt Syndicate, but I feel like MVP adlibs his responses a little too much. He didn’t need to keep shouting down the fans unless someone was actually saying something offensive. I appreciated Lashley playing up like he was going to go back on the deal, but also they kept teasing how there might be someone other than MJF joining. Dustin & Sammy showing up was logical, but I feel like Dustin only had most of his promo put together. But as I’ve said before, I don’t see Sons of Texas winning this one. I wonder if MJF has a part to play, too…
Ricochet VS Bowens was a very good match but I’m a little surprised, and maybe disappointed, Bowens’ return push was sacrificed to Ricochet getting momentum going into Double or Nothing. But I suppose the “Scissor King” crown was good enough a reason to have a match. I would’ve waited until after Double or Nothing so that Ricochet and Bowens could have an actual feud going through the summer. Mark going after Ricochet was good stuff, but he kinda gave away the big spot he wants to do: Froggy-Bow to a stretcher. The math on this match is fairly even, but it’d make sense if Ricochet won to stay hot towards a title opportunity of his own.
Speaking of, good promo from Okada to set up Okada VS Bailey. I wonder if he chose to swerve us on saying “b*tch” or he was told to pull back a bit. It feels more like an Okada thing to make that move himself. Bailey & Komander surely find a way to win against LFI tomorrow, but I can’t be sure about Bailey VS Okada. I still think a great idea is to violate the Continental Rules by The Bucks ending up ringside. Given how tonight ended, I can see the Faces and Heels not wanting to wait to get Anarchy in the Arena started, so The Bucks either brawl their way ringside or are chased ringside, Bailey wins, but Okada retains as it is a disqualification and Champion’s Advantage is a thing.
But of course, great stuff with the Anarchy in the Arena field. Awesome Six Man Tag to open, great win for the Faces, but then the Heels stand tall to close the night, so the math is a wash. The stuff tonight was a great teaser, so that Anarchy match is going to be wild. It could go either way, really, but the result should also lend itself towards the next phase in the story. I don’t know if Darby Allin will be back in time for Sunday, because helping the Faces win AITA would be a great way to return, and it means one more ally for Team AEW to fight against the Death Riders.
My Score: 8.8/10
