Mama Wheeler is proudest of all that her baby boy and his best friend defended home turf and the tag titles! Dax gets some mics, and he says, “We gonna get in a little bit of trouble tonight, but we’re in the Carolinas, we do things a little bit different here!” Fans cheer that! Dax says that 10 years ago, he and Cash started a legacy. They talked about being THE BEST team in the world, and in every promotion they’ve been through, they have been world tag team champions. Whether it’s the States, Japan, Mexico, doesn’t matter, THEY were champions ten times over!
To complete the legacy and be known as the greatest, they had Best 2 Out of 3 Falls match for 58 minutes, that was incredible. The Briscoes Trilogy, that was incredible. Beating those two big bastards just now, yeah, even that was incredible. But there is one thing FTR has gotta do! There’s one thing left for them to do! Cash has his mic now and he calls out the YOUNG BUCKS! Fans love that! Cash knows they have unfinished business, so how’s about finishing it at Wembley Stadium? Fans REALLY love that! AEW looks closer at CM Punk VS Ricky Starks.
Punk himself said, he is the Best in the World until he finds someone who can fill his boots, and until someone can actually pin him in a match. Absolute says, “I don’t care if you like it. I did what was necessary.” Punk stopped being a nice guy, he has a belt that has his name, blood and symbol on it. But if Starks wants a shot, then it has to be with the right referee for the job. The Dragon returns, will he help us all get to the bottom of this?
Backstage interview with Bullet Club Gold.
Tony Schiavone is with Juice Robinson and… Cardboard Cutout Jay White? Metalik is making his Collision debut against Jay White, but what’s going on here? Juice says “When you’re hot, you’re hot, and when you’re not, you’re not! And right now, the Bang Bang Gang is hotter than Hell!” But then something smacks “Cardblade” Jay White down! The REAL Jay White is here, and he tells Metalik that that is gonna be what happens to him tonight. And Schiavone, there’s not much else to say with that dumb look on your face. But White knows two guys who’d love to teach you something about commentary. No, they’re not the Ass Boys, these are the Top Gunns!

Backstage interview with Toni Storm.
Tony Schiavone is with the former AEW Women’s World Championship, and she does her best to hold it together hearing that word. She can handle that she is here, “feeling as naked as the day I was born.” But she is a professional. She won’t freak out like people think she will. But she wants to ask us this: “Am I just not a star anymore? Am I just not talented like I was? Have I lost it?” No, not at all! Then what is it, Tony? Is she not enough for you or something? C’mon, look at her! Look at the state of her! Hair in curlers, robe and bikini on…? Uh… Toni asks if this is really what is right for her? “NO, IT’S NOT!! I’m the illustrious Toni Storm, dammit!”
She is well-known, respect and admired all over the WORLD for everything she has done! This is NOT right!! This interview is over. So now, you can SHUT UP! Toni storms off, will she snap on whoever is put against her next?
Samoa Joe VS Serpentico!
The King of Wrestling Television, the ROH World TV Champion, may or may not be avoiding The Peacock, Dalton Castle, but he’s most biding his time until a #1 contender is named through ROH’s contender eliminator tournament. Will #SNAKEMAN jump the line with a massive upset tonight? Or will his Collision debut be a short one?
The bell rings and fans rally up. Serpentico runs in, and Joe FLAPJACKS him down! And then hauls him up, COQUINA CLUTCH!! Serpentico taps, Joe wins!!
Winner: Samoa Joe, by submission
Well, who would’ve thought it’d be THAT short? Joe set a Collision record, maybe even an AEW record! Joe gets a mic, and he says, “Greenville, my name is Samoa Joe, your One True King of Television! And it seems your benevolent king has a problem. In fact, he’s got a few. First one being, soon, at a sold out Wembley arena, we go All In!” Fans like that “problem.” Joe says “Your King has nobody to dance with.” Fans don’t like that. Joe says that leads into the second problem. He enjoys a very exclusive luxury in his career. While a certain “Real” World Champ was traveling around the world, telling all you simple folk he was the Best in the World, Joe knew in his heart Punk was never better than Joe a day in his life!
“But recently, I lost that luxury at the Owen Hart Invitational. And y’know what? It’s not the fact that I lost it, it’s how I lost it! Cuz you see, me and this so called Real World Champion have battled for over three hours in this ring! Our legacies were built on the blood, sweat and tears of each other, and the pain that we put each other through!” Fans cheer that! Joe says DAMMIT, a roll-up is not good enough for their legacy! Fans also cheer that! So Joe is here to call the “champ” out, and as a courtesy, he asks Punk to give him what he wants, to give the FANS what they want, and to give their legacy what they deserve.
And that is that, with the eyes of the world upon them, they give everything that they have! But know this, “Champ,” his courtesy only extends for this week. If Punk makes him wait, you best believe Joe will “convince” his ass! Joe wants a match with Punk, “Real” World Championship or not! Will the King of Wrestling Television get what he wants?
Andrade El Idolo speaks.
“I am always tranquilo. But when someone steals or insults something I love, everybody knows what can happen. I fight for everything, for everyone, for AEW. You take something of mine, I will pursue you until it’s returned to me.” Andrade holds up the mask he took back from the House of Black. Will no one dare offend El Idolo again?
Tony Schiavone has a sit-down interview with The Acclaimed.
He is with Max Caster & Anthony Bowens, and he says it is always great to be talking about and talking with one of the best tag teams in the world. But he does note they have Billy Gunn’s boots. The last time we saw The Acclaimed was when Billy unlaced those boots and put them in the middle of the ring, signaling the end of his in-ring career. Have they spoken with him since then? Bowens says they have over the last weekend. They tried to give these boots back to him, but he is pretty firm in his decision that he is officially retired. Schiavone sees they’re choked up about it. Did Billy give any reasons as to why he did that?
Bowens says Billy kept saying it was his fault that The Acclaimed lost the World Tag Team Championships. And then Billy feels guilty, having been pinned by the House of Black twice for the World Trios Championships. Billy feels he has lost a step in these high pressure scenarios, and Bowens disagrees. But it is what it is at this point. Schiavone notes Billy was still a big part of their success, so where does The Acclaimed go from here? Caster says he wants to respect Billy’s decision. If Billy is done, then okay, he’s done. But Billy has given them so much, such as the World Tag Team Championships.
In Caster’s opinion, The Acclaimed with Billy is still the best trio in AEW. They had some unfinished business, they promised they’d bring home the gold, and while Billy thinks he’s failed them, maybe they failed Billy. And Billy, if you’re watching this, Bowens hopes that you understand how much you’ve meant to Max and Bowens. They were two people trying to find themselves on this roster, and they were trying to prove they were elite. And Billy was the one who believed in them. And because of Billy, they got to be champions. So they will miss you, go out there with your boots for you, and just hope you know how much they and everyone else love you.
One last time, please… Throw up the scissors and scissor Bowens, Daddy Ass. Caster & Bowens are set to return to 2v2 action next week, will Billy still be home when they do?
AEW World Trios Championships Open House Rules: The House of Black VS Action Andretti, Darius Martin & Lee Johnson!
Speaking of Malakai Black, Brody King & Buddy Matthews, they are already back in action, and again defending these Trios titles under their rules! No ropebreaks, a 20 count on the outside, and disqualifications ARE enforced! Will there be no hope for the Sight to See, the Air Wolf and Big Shotty? Or can three young stars shine where others have fallen?
The introductions are made, the belts are raised, and we hear the Dealer’s Choice stipulation from the challengers. It will be… JULIA HART IS BANNED FROM RINGSIDE! Fans boo, they like Julia! But the Lady of the House has no choices, this is per their rules. The trios sort out, Brody starts against Darius, and the two tie up. And then Brody just THROWS Darius aside! Fans hoot and bark for Brody as he and Darius circle. They tie up again, and Brody TOSSES Darius away again! Darius shakes it off, he and Brody circle again, then he gets around to headlock. Brody staggers, but he runs right back in to run Darius over! Fans rally, things speed up, and Darius ducks ‘n’ dodges and sunset flips! Malakai then shoves Action to pop him up, but Action spins to RANA! Fans fire up, Action builds speed and he slides, but Malakai catches him! Malakai sends Action into railing, and then BOOTS him down! Fans fire up again and Malakai puts Action in the ring. Malakai goes up to the apron, wipes his feet on the apron, and then gets in to whip Action. Action goes up and over but Malakai ELBOWS him! Action shoves Malakai, blocks a boot, but Malakai KNEES him! LEG SWEEP!
Malakai drags Action over, tags Buddy, and Buddy goes up to DOUBLE STOMP Action’s arm! Fans rally and Buddy drags Action up to wrench and suplex, to hang Action out to dry! Action sputters, Buddy BOOTS Darius for good measure! Then he BLASTS Action to the desk! Fans fire up as Collision goes picture in picture.
Action writhes, Buddy taunts Lee, and then Brody goes after Action to ROCK and CHOP! Action flops against railing but Brody SLAMS him down! Darius runs in but Brody KNEES him, and then THROWS him into railing! Brody drags Action up, puts him in for Buddy, and Buddy covers. TWO, and Buddy drags Action up into a Cobra Twist! Malakai drags Action up but Action fires forearms! Collision returns to single picture, Malakai ROCKS Action, but Action fights back! Malakai kicks Action low, back suplexes, but Action lands out of it! Hot tag to Big Shotty! Lee ROCKS Malakai, goes up top and CROSSBODIES! Direct hit, and then Lee dodges Buddy to SHOTGUN Brody! Buddy blocks a boot but not the ENZIGURI! ELBOW for Malakai! QUEBRADA DOUBLE DDT COMBO!!

Winners: The House of Black, by pinfall (still AEW World Trios Champions)
Julia Hart was missed, but not needed to defend the titles. Will a trio ever figure out the formula for- Wait, BREAKING NEWS from Tony Khan to Ian Riccaboni and Nigel McGuiness on commentary! Next week on Collision, regardless of what happens with the “Real” World Championship, CM Punk joins forces with FTR once again to take on the House of Black for these titles!! Will CMFTR truly be The Best TRIO in the World?
Backstage interview with “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs.
Schiavone says he has wanted to talk with Hobbs about a few things as it relates to- Wait, QT Marshall interrupts. He says there are some things they need to talk about. One: It’s “Powerhouse” Hobbs. Two: Get out, this is family business. Harley Cameron says “Buh-bye.” Schiavone leaves and Hobbs asks what they want. QT says he promised he’d make this right, so he has some gifts. First gift: the finest Cuban links money can buy. Harley presents the very expensive chain necklace, and QT says he knows a guy. Second gift: non-material because it is an opportunity.
Picture this: Chicago, All Out, the United Center, where it all started. And Hobbs gets the biggest victory of his career! Just like QT is handing Hobbs this chain, QT is also handing Hobbs the biggest moment on a proverbial silver platter. How does that sound? Hobbs says he doesn’t want QT’s help, and damn sure doesn’t need it. But thanks for the gold. Hobbs heads out, what opportunity did QT even get him? TNT title? International title? World title? Guess we’ll see when AEW goes All Out.
Backstage interview with Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and… a little girl?
Schiavone is with Captain Charisma, the Right Hand of Destruction, and who is this special guest? Yes, this is Christian’s very own daughter. And now, people might wonder why he brought his daughter to Collision, and the answer is simple: to prove a point. That as TNT Champion, as the Face of TNT, Christian realizes he is a role model for children all over the world, not just his own. But what’s really annoying Christian lately is that a guy like Darby Allin, “who seems to be mentoring an 18 year old snot nosed punk kid that has no business being in AEW, let alone stepping foot inside my ring…”
Daughter Charisma stops Christian to ask if she could have the belt. Did she win it? No, she did not. No one touches this title but him. Go find your mom. Daughter Charisma heads out to find Mrs. Charisma, and Christian tells security that they’re not credentialed, remove them from the arena. His own family? He’s despicable! NO, he is the TNT Champion now and forever! Do you understand? Christian storms off, Luchasaurus following. If this is how Christian treats his family, how horribly will Christian and Luchasaurus treat Darby Allin?
Jay White w/ Bullet Club Gold VS Metalik!
The Switchblade is back and ready to fight up the ranks in singles competition. But at the same time, King Switch is up against the King of the Ropes! Will Metalik be the only golden one shining tonight? Or will Bullet Club Gold’s fearless leader cut him down like cardboard?
Oh, wait, the Gunns were serious about doing commentary! Nigel loves it but Ian is upset! Especially with the Ass Boys telling Ian to shut up. The bell rings and Austin wants White to take his shirt off. He does, and Colten says White is so ripped! White offers the shirt to fans, but he ends up throwing it to commentary. BREAKING NEWS for Dynamite!
Hikaru Shida just won the AEW Women’s World Championship off Toni Storm last Wednesday, and Anna Jay is coming off a win on Rampage, and now they will do battle over the title!
Anna Jay speaks.
The Star of the Show says Shida was her first taste of AEW. The first time she ever stepped into a ring was against Shida. But that was when Anna was a rookie Shida was taking advantage of. The second time around, Shida was champion and Anna came so close to winning, and even Shida knows it. And yet, Shida still took advantage of an inexperienced opponent. But unlucky for Shida, Anna is a rookie no more. She got a big win off Skye Blue, and now she has a lot on her plate. Anna will make it through the JAS intervention, and then she will beat Shida to become the NEW AEW Women’s World Champion! Will Anna truly become THE Star of the Show?
The “REAL” AEW World Championship, Special Guest Referee Ricky Steamboat: CM Punk VS Ricky Starks!
Injury or not, the fact remains that no one beat The Best in the World to become AEW World Champion. So as far as CM Punk is concerned, he IS the AEW World Champion. Furthermore, Punk does not appreciate that Starks absolutely cheated two matches in a row to beat Punk. A living legend returns to the ring solely to call this down the middle, but will Starks find a way around Steamboat? Or will Punk continue to be the “Real” World Champion?
The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see if this Collision is Absolute!

The Dragon keeps Starks from cheating Punk out of his “real” world championship, and then raises Punk’s hand in victory. Steamboat gives Punk the belt, and Punk bows in respect. Punk dares him to, chair in hand! Starks runs so Punk chases him, and CHUCKS that chair! Starks avoids getting hit, and runs off into the night! Has Starks become the Absolute worst in AEW? How will Punk be able to focus on next week’s Trios Championship match after his respected mentor got hurt on his watch?
My Thoughts:
A great Collision, probably one of the best in its short history, and what a surprise that it threw in the Trios titles on top of the other titles. Unless you consider this was up against WWE SummerSlam. But that aside, still great matches, even Joe’s insanely fast squash win. Joe has momentum in regards to his ROH story but also going towards All In now that he’s called out Punk. Joe VS Punk at All In is going to be awesome stuff, the Wembley crowd is gonna eat that up. Punk VS Starks in tonight’s main event was also awesome stuff, especially with how their character work was getting the fans all worked up and even more into this, as well as some references to Steamboat’s career.
And the finish played out about how I figured: Steamboat would see Starks cheat, stop the cheat, and then it’d be up to Steamboat to count the cover. Punk wins, Starks gets major Heel heat going after Steamboat, this could be a big moment in Starks’ newest Heel run that sends him towards other titles. FTR has a great tag match with Bill & Brian, especially with Greenville 100% behind FTR. Great win for FTR, and really good promo from FTR to call out the Bucks for All In, and wow, it’s almost like AEW remembered they gotta give us the matches for All In before All In gets here.
Great Trios title match for it being outta nowhere, and just as I was wondering where Big Shotty Lee Johnson has been, he gets to be part of this match. The stipulation they chose was redundant, though, because Best Friends banned Julia Hart from ringside in the very first Open House Rules title match. But whatever, the challengers were of course losing. But next week, CMFTR just getting a Trios title shot is wild, that match is going to be great, and I just hope something creative is given to us for the stipulation. FTR VS Bucks at All In could go either way but we all know it’ll be awesome.
Really good stuff from Bullet Club Gold tonight, from their really goofy promo backstage with Schiavone to the Gunns being rowdy on commentary during White VS Metalik. White gets a good win off Metalik, and now with the Gunns on the team, White can shift to being the world title guy, Juice can be midcard title guy, Gunns can be tag title guys, and then Juice & Gunns can be trios guys. Golden Bullet Club Gold may not be very likely given all the other great names in title stories, but hey, it’s about them at least trying for it, not actually accomplishing it. And speaking of gold, I would hope QT’s opportunity for Hobbs is for a title, or else Hobbs is going to finally crush QT once and for all. With Best Friends down in that Triple Threat feud, Hobbs VS Cassidy for International title makes sense to me.
And speaking of titles, great promo from Christian Cage and I guess his real-life daughter to call out Darby. Great gag of Christian being so two-faced to even his own family while insulting Darby Allin & Nick Wayne. If we don’t get Darby & Nick/Sting VS Fox & Swerve, we definitely need Darby & Nick/Sting VS Christian & Luchasaurus, then we get Darby VS Christian for the TNT title at All Out rather than All In, because it just feels like the build needs more room to breathe before having the blowoff. Really good promo from Toni Storm to show how she’s dealing with not being a champion, and decent promo from Anna Jay as she’s about to challenge Shida. Shida will still be champion, but Anna is gonna be more focused on the JAS stuff anyway.
Great TBS Championship match from Kris VS Mercedes, and of course Kris retains. And therefore, of course Mercedes beats her down after. Nice swerve on Diamante showing up. She’s being Face in ROH against Athena, but she’s still Heel in AEW because she wants a Face’s title. But now this was a good save from Willow that wasn’t redundant. Willow & Kris VS Mercedes & Diamante is happening, though not sure to what end, unless we get a Fatal 4 Way for All In/All Out. Which I guess is fine, because if they aren’t going to do more matches/stories in the division, then having more women per matches/stories is the next best thing.
My Score: 8.9/10

The Death Riders speak.
Specifically, Wheeler Yuta tells Jay White that he had no business interfering with the main event match on Dynamite! But now, he is a marked man! White is Yuta’s target, because nobody, and he means NOBODY- Moxley has Yuta calm down, and he brings up FTR. Moxley has always had respect men who are a defining tag team in their generation. In Moxley’s generation. Taking old school to the next level, like their generation does. They are representative of an artform that is tag team competition. Two of the toughest SOBs East of the Mississippi. But FTR crossed a line interfering in Moxley’s business.
FTR paid a price, but as far as Moxley’s concerned, that was the end of it. Then what’d FTR do? They created a whole new mess! And they didn’t come alone, they brought a “friend,” if that’s what we’re calling it. What do we know about “Cope,” Adam Copeland? A legend, an innovator, perennial champion, and he has the gold to prove it. Reigns, belts, trophies, whatever you want. Spent nearly a decade on the shelf with a broken neck, almost extinct. But he defied the laws of nature to come to a new, more unforgiving world, in the most unforgiving sport in the world. Cope came up the hard way. Been through everything, seen everything.
But he’s always been a frontrunner. This new world, this AEW of the future… In Moxley’s world, survival comes at a cost, so Cope will have to become something new. If Rated FTR wants to keep going down this road, Moxley won’t stop them. But he promises them that they will find nothing good down this road. Hell on Earth, if you will. Moxley leads The Death Riders away, but will the New Year be the end for their enemies?
Jeff Jarrett VS Aaron Solo!

AEW mourns the loss of Sweet Daddy Siki, 1933 – 2024.
AEW shares footage from after Worlds End.
Last Saturday, technically last year in 2024, Jon Moxley escaped with the AEW World Championship, but he was more upset about how “they” were all “talk and talk” about who they are and what they’ll do. But when bullets start flying, when things get real, that’s not who they are at all. Who they are when their feet are put to the fire is very, very different. Marina Shafir took a bullet tonight, because she is a woman of integrity and iron will. She is someone who stands with Moxley and he accepts nothing left! What would you take a bullet for? Moxley grabbed AEW by the strap and dragged it to safety through a pandemic!
Moxley has taken bullet after bullet after bullet for AEW! And if he has to, he will burn it down, sink it, and destroy the AEW World Championship before he lets anyone get their greedy, soulless, criminals fingers on it ever again! Moxley knows what Adam Copeland is about. The Death Riders are not rebels, they rebel against authority. No one has authority over them. Moxley is king. Tonight, Copeland was just the loudest guy in the room.
Rated FTR responds.
Dax & Cash stand with the Rated R Superstar while he paces, and Dax says if the Death Riders want a fight, they’ll get the damndest fight of their lives! Cash says tonight is Fight for the Fallen, and this is for North Carolina! This is for the people who never keep fighting, so FTR will never keep fighting. Copeland says Death Riders have tried to take out his friends, they’ve taken out Darby Allin! Well, it’s 2025 now! First Dynamite of the New Year, first one streaming on MAX, so let’s get going! At Worlds End, Edge saw something he never saw in Moxley’s eyes before: FEAR. And it is the fear that Edge is SICKER than Moxley. This’ll be fun!
Orange Cassidy VS Hangman Page!
Freshly Squeezed wanted Team AEW to stick together against the Death Riders, but that didn’t happen. Why did it NOT happen? Because the Blackhat Cowboy only cared that he would become champion. Jay White speaks.
“We are not starting 2025 off the way I had planned. No, I had planned, after Worlds End, by January 1st, to be THE AEW World Champion. And that planned worked almost perfectly. Bladerunner, one, two, and then Wheeler Yuta throws himself on top of the referee. Not just costing me any moment. Costing me the moment! He cost me MY moment! And that makes me feel… Words don’t do it justice. So Wheeler, I promise you, I will show you over and over again exactly how I feel. But don’t worry, because I still have a path to Moxley at Maximum Carnage! And next week, in the Casino Gauntlet, I will walk along that path to you, Moxley!
“But first, tonight, I face two former AEW champions, and I BEAT two former AEW champions. It’s nothing personal, fellas. Roderick Strong, Swerve Strickland, you’ll simply be the catalyst collateral on my way to the gold. It doesn’t matter who’s the Messiah, it doesn’t matter whose house this is, you will breath with the Switchblade!” White makes his intentions known, but will he be number one with a bullet going into the Casino Gauntlet?

Ricochet stalks Swerve again, but he takes a seat in the chair. Ricochet stares Swerve down, HEADBUTTS him again and again, and fans tell Ricochet off. Ricochet brings Swerve around, makes him take a seat, and Ricochet says this is what Swerve gets for embarrassing him. Ricochet loads up, SPIRIT GUN!! Swerve is down, the fans boo, but The One & Only grins. Kyle & Cole hurry out here, they run Ricochet off, but Ricochet is laughing like a maniac!
Ricochet makes sure he leaves with the scissors, but his shirt is covered in the evidence of his crime! Has Ricochet ended Swerve’s comeback before its even begun? Or will Ricochet regret giving the most dangerous man in AEW a reason to come after him?
Backstage interview with Team Triple J.
Alex Marvez is with Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh and says he hasn’t been able to get a word with Jeff Jarrett. Have any of them spoken with Jarrett before tonight? Of course they have, he’s their friend. But he hasn’t answered their calls or texts. Oh, but Jarrett walks in, and he says he’s been here all day. A lot is going on, and this is a big night. Do any of them know where Karen went? Sonjay asks Marvez to give them the room. Marvez nods and exits. Sonjay says yes, tonight’s a big night, so they need to ask. Is Jarrett sure about his announcement? Lethal says before he answers, just know that whatever he decides, they support him 100%.
But even so, they want to make sure that Jarrett is sure. No regrets, right? Jarrett says they all go way back. Oh, Karen walks in now. Mrs. Jarrett says she needed a minute. She knows this business is what brought them together, but is also what almost broke Jeff at times. Karen knows this is what’s in his heart, which his what makes this so hard. But whatever he wants, she wants. They are unbreakable. Jeff nods and hugs Karen. Karen gives Jeff his boots, and Jeff takes his leave. Is this what we think it is?
Mariah May speaks.
“I was told not to say any more ‘bad things’ about this Women’s Division. Okay. I think the Women’s Division is great! Happy? Good. Now let’s talk about why. I had more matches last year than any other woman. In fact, nobody else in that locker room even cracked the top ten. They were all either faking injuries, failing auditions, or they can’t even remember who they are. Meanwhile, I was doing my job better than any other woman alive. I left a trail of broken hearts, bodies and minds, and I made it look so easy, you didn’t even realize how good it was. I don’t have epics, I AM the epic. And now it’s time for the greatest women’s division to prove themselves to me.
“I am the Woman From Hell, and I am still standing on your necks. And you want a chance to even breathe again? You’re gonna have to work for it. You can’t touch me. But I’d love to see you try.” The Glamour has thrown down the challenge, who steps up to prove her wrong?
Jeff Jarrett heads to the ring!
Waiting in the ring is his signature red guitar, and he has his boots draped on his shoulders. The Last Outlaw steps into the ring, grabs a mic, and he says he might as well get started with a Slappy New Year, Asheville! Now, to business. Over the last few days, Jarrett’s been trying to figure out, put words together, but a ton of emotions have come over him. At the top of his list: gratitude. There are so many things he has to be thankful for in his career. The fans cheer on “DOUBLE J! DOUBLE J!” Jarrett says it is sad for him to start thinking about things coming to an end. But when he started thinking about that, it made him think of how everything began.
For the Jarrett Family, it started in 1946, Downtown Nashville, Grandma Jarrett took a second job selling tickets. That decision changed the family’s life forever. Grandma parleyed that decision into multiple high-risk, high-reward decisions, and she became the CFO of the Tennessee Territory! Then Jarrett’s dad got into the business, promoting shows in high school, wrestled, and became the most popular wrestler, and that afforded him the opportunity to buy the promotion. After a series of even more high-risk and high-reward, he promoted for 40 years. That brings us to 1986, when Jarrett got into the industry.
Jarrett made HIS first high-risk, high-reward decision. Against his family’s wishes, and specifically his mom’s, Jarrett was playing college basketball as a Freshman, but dropped out of school to start his in-ring career. The fans cheer that! Jarrett says he could go on and on about high-risk, high-reward, but he’ll just talk about one more. In 2002, Jarrett bet on himself by launching his own promotion. And in his professional opinion, that promotion has produced some of the greatest pro-wrestlers of all time. The fans cheer that! But that brings Jarrett to here tonight. Jarrett holds up the boots and fans are a bit worried.
The fans chant “NO! NO! NO!” but Jarrett says as a TWELVE TIME World Champion, a TWO-TIME Hall of Famer, he had to ask himself, “Should the Last Outlaw just ride off into the sunset?” The fans say “NO!” Jarrett hears that and says his answer is “HELL NO!” The fans fire up as Jarrett says the thought that goes through his mind is that when you take the biggest risk of your life, you’ve got the biggest reward! So Jarrett is here to announce that he has signed his very LAST pro-wrestling talent contract with AEW! Because the Last Outlaw wants one more ride! And not just any ride. Jarrett wants A E W GOLD!
And we’re not talking Trios or Tag, but about the biggest risk of his career! Hell yeah, he could fall flat on his face. Hell, there’s that Casino Gauntlet, put his name in the hat! Because Jarrett vows that from tonight, January 1st, 2025, The Last Outlaw’s New Year’s Resolution is to be A E W WORLD CHAMPION! Double J is swinging for the fences, will he hit that homerun? Or will he go down swinging?
Hook speaks.
“Christian Cage. I hope you’re not looking forward to this New Year. See, just cuz I beat your ass in a luxury box a couple weeks ago, and since I choked out your ‘son,’ Nick Wayne, in the middle of New York City, doesn’t mean my job is finished. So why don’t you go ask Nick what it’s like to be locked in the Redrum. Cuz I’m gonna finish what that chowderhead started, and choke your ass out.” The Cold-Hearted Handsome devil has spoken, and he’ll get his fight in two weeks! Will it truly be Maximum Carnage when Hook gets his hands on Christian Cage?
2v1 Handicap: “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs VS Jon Cruz & Rob Killjoy!
He may not have won the AEW International Championship at Worlds End, but it’s a New Year and the Book of Hobbs can write another chapter. Will that chapter start with the mauling of two mortal men at the same time?
The bell rings, Hobbs CLOBBERS Cruz, and Killjoy is worried. Killjoy CHOPS, but it does nothing! Killjoy swings but Hobbs catches the haymaker! Hobbs then short arm LARIATS Killjoy inside-out! Hobbs runs up to SPLASH Cruz, “MEAT!” Then SPLASH for Killjoy! “MEAT!” Another SPLASH for Cruz, then Hobbs whips Cruz hard into Killjoy! Cruz staggers forward, Hobbs hits a SNAP POWERSLAM! Killjoy staggers, Hobbs whips and SPINEBUSTERS! Killjoy sputters, Cruz crawls, and the straps come down! The fans fire up for Hobbs as he looms over Cruz. SPINEBUSTER onto Killjoy! Stack and double cover, Hobbs wins!
Winner: “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs, by pinfall
Jay White may be entering the gauntlet #1, but Hobbs is looking to get in on that. Will no one stop the Powerhouse from having his golden ticket to the AEW World Championship?
Backstage interview with “Big Bill” Morrissey & Bryan Keith.
Alex Marvez is with The Redwood and The Bad Apple, and he asks where Chris Jericho is tonight. Bill tells North Carolina that this place is great! W-Well, it’s good. Keith says it’s aight. Well said, Keith! It’s aight. But The Nueve… isn’t coming. Oh, but look! The hometown heroes! The camera pans over and it’s #RatedFTR! Bill & Keith walk over, and Bill says he isn’t sure who should be more ashamed: These three being proud of Asheville, or Asheville being proud of Rated FTR. As the Learning Tree always says, “Home is where you find yourself.” And well, they find themselves in a situation where the hOmEtOwN hErOeS~ need to be taken down a branch or two.
Keith says, “Yeah! Rated R Dumbass!’ What? Is that the best he has? Did Jericho feed Keith that in an earpiece or something? No? Well, Copeland doesn’t see a Bad Apple, just a tumbleweed. As for Bill, well, his FACE is stupid! How about this? Asheville, Saturday Night Collision, Rated FTR VS The Learning Tree! See you, kids. Bye, guys~! Edge leads Cash & Dax to gorilla, will they tear down one arrogant trio before going after another?
AEW shares more footage from after Worlds End.
A bloodied and battered MJF crawls backstage but laughs while sarcastically applauding. “Congratulations on your big win, Adam Cole. Oh, wait, that’s right, you lost! It took a whole entire army just to beat me up! Typical. Well, finally, FINALLY, the chapter of Better Than You Baybay in my career, finally, 2024 comes to a close! Mercifully! It’s time for the next chapter, my friends. Now, it’s time for retribution. See, something was taken from me. Something that I did not lose fair and square. MY TRIPLE B! MY CHAMPIONSHIP! Is now being paraded around in a briefcase? By a man who walks around claiming he’s the king of these lands.
“Well, Dictator Jon, I got a question for ya, bud. What’s a king to a god? Because ain’t nobody, and I mean ain’t nobody, on the LEVEL of the DEVIL! And nobody knows that better than you, ‘ey, Jonny Boy?” MJF laughs more, and he says he has no problems with Moxley. Moxley can burn AEW to ashes, MJF just wants the championship. And he doesn’t give a damn who has it, but MJF will get it! Come Hell or high water! Because 2025, the Devil gets his due, part 2. The Wolf of Wrestling is ready to bring out his inner demons again, but will he regret riding that highway to Hell?
BREAKING NEWS for Collision!
For one, Collision is back on live this Saturday, and for another, it’ll also be simulcast on MAX! And while we know Rated FTR VS Learning Tree will happen, we’re also getting Private Party defending the AEW World Tag Team Championships against Lio Rush & Action Andretti! Will The Bad Child & Sight to See make the most of their title “SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS!” this Saturday? Plus, Mark Briscoe made the challenge to Daniel Garcia during the Worlds End Zero Hour, and now he’ll get his match! Garcia VS Briscoe for the TNT Championship, who will be the Face of TNT?

Jay White comes through with an assist so that the numbers were even! The Death Riders lose at their own numbers game, but will they make sure White regrets coming after them? As for Rated FTR, will they do this all again against The Learning Tree in Charlotte, North Carolina? Will this all lead Adam Copeland, Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler back to title opportunities in 2025?
My Thoughts:
A great episode for AEW, especially as the return of Fight for the Fallen, the first Dynamite of 2025, and the first Dynamite to be livestreamed on MAX. With AEW Revolution not until March, Maximum Carnage is quickly being built as a big episode to make up for no PPV. And I think AEW is taking off January for a PPV because WrestleKingdom & WrestleDynasty this weekend kinda has them covered. Quite a few names are going to Japan for those events, and win, lose or draw, they’ll have a great time. That said, Mercedes Mone had a good promo, but it was literally just her putting herself over, not even a little bit of a response from Mina Shirakawa.
Mone is doing great Heel work, but with that needs to be comeuppance, so I’m hoping Mina takes the NJPW Strong Women’s title this weekend, sending Mone back to AEW in a bad mood. Then if they really want to, Kamille could return and go after Mone for the TBS Championship, or even just as payback for whatever sneak attack that was weeks ago. Mariah May’s promo was also really good, and we can only hope it is Athena coming after her. Athena can, and perhaps should, win the International Women’s Cup to then get her shot at any title she wants. While I thought Athena was going to drop the ROH Women’s title to Billie Starkz, making it Mariah VS Athena, Champion VS Champion, would be really good stuff, and really help push that ROH cable deal along.
Very good match from Jamie and Julia, though Julia seemed to be working off that ring rust just a bit. However, incredibly clever finish with the arrow as the decoy for the classic black mist. Clearly we’ll get a rematch of this, perhaps part of Maximum Carnage, and it should really be a House Rules match so that Jamie can in part choose a stipulation. Then per the standard formula, Jamie wins so that we get the tiebreaker in something even crazier, like a Street Fight. Hook had a very good promo to call out Christian Cage, they’ll have a great match, and I would think Hook wins, just to make us think Christian won’t cash in…
Jeff Jarrett had a great couple of promos, and when he first announced this announcement at Worlds End, I could just tell Double J was gonna double down and go for the world title instead of retiring. Jarrett and Team Triple J feuding with The Death Riders could actually be some good stuff. MJF had a very good promo to move on from Adam Cole, and I guess per his “relapse” into Heel behavior, he’s of course “relapsing” back to his AEW Devil gimmick. MJF getting in on the Casino Gauntlet might actually be some great stuff. Hobbs crushes that Handicap match, he should have a great showing in the gauntlet, too.
Great promos from Jay White, Swerve Strickland and Roderick Strong, awesome Triple Threat, but I should’ve figured Ricochet would go after Swerve. I just didn’t think he’d go full psycho like that. Though, that might actually work out for the better as his apparent “Andrew Tate” gimmick wasn’t working. White having the first spot is certainly some good stuff, but hard to say if he wins the gauntlet. Especially when he went after Yuta tonight to screw Death Riders in the main event. I just hope the Gunns are near healthy again so they can help White against Death Riders. Then Rated FTR had a good promo with Bill & Keith, they’ll have a great Six Man Tag on Collision.
Great opening match from Hangman VS Cassidy, and a solid win for Hangman. Obviously the big stuff was him beating up on Cassidy after, and even hitting Christopher Daniels. Hangman is again burning bridges between him and friends, but that’s consistent with his character. Daniels stepping down from being an EVP with Kenny Omega returning could mean Daniels tries to settle things with Hangman in the ring, only to give Hangman another solid win. And speaking of Kenny, Okada calling Kenny out in his promo was some good stuff. While Kenny has WrestleDynasty as the first test of his in-ring shape, he and Okada could certainly have something going towards Revolution in March.
Great stuff with The Acclaimed VS Hurt Syndicate. Though, with what MVP was saying on commentary, I hope TK hasn’t dropped the recruitment storyline on all fronts. Hurt Syndicate not wanting Caster anymore does make sense given his attitude, but they also rejected Ricochet so what was the point of MVP handing out cards? That said, Bowens ditching Caster was a bit of a surprise. If this is how Acclaimed ends, it’s a bit of a whimper rather than a bang. I suppose a promo on Collision can help steer things towards a proper implosion, and then we can build towards Caster VS Bowens, maybe even get multiple rounds of it with Billy Gunn stuck in the middle, just something more befitting of a true homegrown AEW team falling apart.
My Score: 8.9/10
