Darby Allin VS Brian Cage w/ Prince Nana!

As already said, this is about The Relentless One dealing with the pawns of Swerve Strickland before the tag team grudge match in Wembley Stadium! Or perhaps in The Machine’s case, the rook! Will Darby make it through this Rampage to go All In?

The bell rings and both men rush in! Darby SHOTGUNS Cage into buckles, then hurries to PLANCHA! Down goes Cage, and Darby rains down fists! Cage throws Darby back into the ring, but Darby just builds speed to DIVE! But he bounces off Cage’s body! Cage stalks Darby, drags him up, and RAMS him into railing! Fans fire up and Cage asks, “Who betta than Cage?” Cage then suplexes Darby, holds him up, and storms up the steps to the apron! Cage DUMPS Darby into the ring, and soaks up the heat. Nana talks trash, but Darby drags himself to the apron. Cage drags Darby up to deadlift SUPERPLEX!

Darby flounders away and Cage flexes on him. Fans boo but Cage stalks Darby to the corner. Cage digs his knee in, the ref counts, and Cage lets off at 4. Cage drags Darby up, whips him corner to corner hard and Darby bounces off buckles to fall in a heap! Cage stomps away on Darby, then drags him up. Cage CHOPS Darby, and Darby staggers away to the other corner. Cage TOSSES Darby across the way, and Darby hits buckles again! Cage flexes and Nana talks trash but fans boo. Cage storms up on Darby, but Darby BITES Cage’s hand! Cage DECKS Darby and Darby falls out of the ring!

Cage goes out to fetch Darby, drags him up, and RAMS him into the apron! Darby staggers away, Cage soaks up the heat, and he drags Darby up to ROCK him with haymaker after haymaker! Cage then runs in, but Darby sends him into the steps! Darby hurries to refresh the count, then he stomps Cage’s hand on the steps! Darby hops on with a SLEEPER, throws crossface forearms, but Cage RAMS him into railing! Darby holds on, throws more forearms, but Cage runs all the way to CRASH through the timekeeper’s table!! Fans fire up as both men are down! Cage stands first, and he drags Darby from the wreckage.

Cage SMACKS Darby off the apron, then digs his boot in at the railing! Nana says Darby is a stupid idiot, but the ring count climbs. Cage drags Darby up and hits an APRON BACK SUPLEX! Darby writhes his way into the ring and Cage asks, “Who betta than Cage?” Cage storms in, taunts him to crawl to a corner, and mockingly asks where is Sting and his baseball bat now. Cage then CLUBS Darby down, then stands on Darby’s neck! The ref counts, Cage taunts him, as does Nana, but Cage still lets off at 4. Nana just keeps yapping as Rampage goes picture in picture.

Cage stands Darby up just to DECK him! Then he drags Darby up to clinch and OVERHEAD Belly2Belly! Cage then ties Darby’s legs up, for a REVERSE TEXAS CLOVERLEAF! Darby endures, reaches out, but Cage drags him back! Darby still fights forward, to the ROPEBREAK! Cage lets go and Darby crawls as best he can to a corner. Cage stands Darby up, pulls the bad leg around ropes, but Darby CLUBS him! Cage RAMS Darby, RAMS him again, and then wrenches to whip corner to corner. Darby hits buckles hard and falls in a heap again! Cage paces around, then goes up the corner to flex and soak up the heat.

Rampage returns to single picture and Cage starts up a Terminator clap. Cage runs in corner to corner, into BOOTS! Darby then goes up, brings Cage in, and hits a TORNADO SCORPION DEATH DROP! Cover, TWO!! But Darby’s right up the corner, DIVING DOUBLE STOMPS! Cage sputters, Darby hops on, THROWBACK STUNNER! Then Darby keeps moving, but Cage has him for a POWERBOMB! And then a deadlift SITOUT POWERBOMB!! Cover, TWO!! Darby survives and Nana is furious! Cage seethes but Darby crawls to ropes. Cage taunts the fans and Darby, then goes out to the apron to drag Darby up.

Darby has taken off his own belt? And he uses it to trip Cage up! Cage hits the apron, Darby goes up the corner! APRON COFFIN DROP!! Direct hit and Cage sputters to the floor! Fans fire up as both men are down! The ring count starts, both men are down at 5 of 10. Darby crawls his way over and slides in at 7, but Cage is in at 8! Darby runs up to hop on, CODE RED!! Cage CHOPS Darby, climbs up after him, and then fireman’s carries again! But Darby fights it, CLAWS Cage’s eyes, and then hits a SUPER CRUCIFIX DRIVER!! TWO?!?! And Cage has Darby up again, F5- CRADLE COUNTER!! DARBY WINS!!

Winner: Darby Allin, by pinfall

Fans are thunderous as Darby not only survives, he not only wins, but he ends Brian Cage’s incredible win streak in 2023! But wait! LUCHASAURUS is here!? And he drags Darby right up for a SLAM DUNK!! Christian Cage watches backstage as his Right Hand of Destruction stands over the TNT Championship’s #1 contender. Captain Charisma told Darby to clear out his distractions, and then takes advantage of them, where will the hypocrisy end?

Backstage interview with Britt Baker.

Renee Paquette is with The Doctor and notes that the AEW Women’s World Championship Tournament is underway, the four opening round winners going on to All In to compete for the title. And Britt will face The Bunny, so how does she feel about that? Britt says she once considered Bunny a friend, and still respects Bunny, and has seen Bunny work her tail off every single week rehabbing to get back in the ring. Unfortunately, Britt has to be the Big Bad Bully and rain on the comeback parade. There is no way anyone is getting in Britt’s way of the historical event that is All In at Wembley Stadium.

And Renee, just imagine the spectacle it will be when Britt holds the AEW Women’s World Championship high and 80 THOUSAND fans say along with her… “Dr. Britt Baker, DMD!” Britt is ready for Wembley, but is she overlooking The Bunny?

AEW International Championship: Orange Cassidy VS Johnny TV w/ Team QTV!

Freshly Squeezed had a rough go of it last week on Rampage when he and Best Friends failed to stop the Blackpool Combat Club in the Parking Lot Brawl. But will this week be even worse when taking on the Star of QTV? Or can Cassidy cancel the Johnny International Show?

Harley Cameron makes her way out first, and says, “Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. HIT MY SPOTLIGHT!” The music starts and Harley sings for Johnny’s entrance. The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see if Cassidy adds to his record-setting reign!

The bell rings and fans rally for Cassidy as he circles with Johnny. Johnny moves around a lot but Cassidy just stays put. Then he puts his hands in his pockets! Johnny sweeps around but Cassidy dodges, ducks, and dodges again to no-hands arm-drag! And then he hurdles! Monkey flip! Kip up! Fans fire up while Johnny bails out and throws a fit. QTV calms Johnny down then they huddle up to talk strategy. The ring count is climbing, QTV breaks, and Cassidy watches them all flank the ring. Harley gets on the apron to distract the ref but Cassidy keeps his eyes on the others. QT, Solo and Johnny step in but then Cassidy just turns the ref around!

Fans cheer as the ref catches QT & Solo red handed! The ref tells QT, Solo AND Harley that they are EJECTED! Fans fire up as things are now truly 1v1! QT, Solo & Harley all leave and fans sing “Hey hey hey, goodbye~!” But wait! WHEELER YUTA appears!? Cassidy is distracted, and Johnny hits a FLYING CHUCK! Direct hit and Johnny covers, TWO!! Cassidy survives, bails out, but the ref gets in Yuta’s face! The ref tells Yuta he is EJECTED! Yuta says okay, sorry, he’ll go. But Johnny hurries up on Cassidy to ROCK him with a right hand! The ref reprimands, Johnny drags Cassidy up to APRON BACK SUPLEX!

Cassidy flops, Johnny drags him up, and Rampage goes picture in picture as Johnny SMACKS Cassidy off the apron! Johnny brings Cassidy up, puts him back in the ring, and then slides in to clamp on with a chinlock. Cassidy endures, fans rally, and Cassidy fights up to his feet. Cassidy throws elbows, but Johnny turns him around for a NECKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Wait, Yuta joins commentary? Cassidy sits up and Johnny KNEES him back down! Johnny CHOKES Cassidy at the ropes, the ref counts, and Johnny lets off, to then CHOKE him on other ropes! The ref counts again but Johnny lets off.

Johnny grabs the legs, and he puts Cassidy back in the ropes, to GUILLOTINE! Cassidy sputters, Johnny kicks him out of the ring, and then Johnny slides out to pace around Cassidy, Johnny mule kicks Cassidy down! Johnny then drags Cassidy up, puts him back in the ring, and he grounds ‘n’ pounds! Cover, ONE, but Johnny shifts around to throw more forearms! ARMBAR! Cassidy flails around, ROPEBREAK, Johnny lets go, and Rampage goes to break.

Rampage returns and Cassidy fights out of a corner with forearms! Johnny ROCKS Cassidy, Cassidy ROCKS Johnny, but Johnny BODY BLOWS! Cassidy goes to the corner, Johnny whips him corner to corner, but Cassidy goes up and out. Johnny runs in but Cassidy bumps him off buckles! And then more buckles! And back the other way, but Johnny sweeps the legs! And he KNEES Cassidy! Cassidy hangs on with feet in the ropes! Johnny goes out to line up a shot, but Cassidy sits up! The kick hits the frame! Cassidy then DIVES to take out Johnny! Fans fire up, Cassidy puts Johnny in and goes up the corner! CROSSBODY!

Fans fire up as Cassidy keeps moving! Tilt-o-whirl, but Johnny blocks the DDT! Johnny wrenches and KICKS low, then hits MOONLIGHT DRIVE!! Cover, TWO!! Cassidy survives but Johnny drags Cassidy up! Straitjacket NECKBREAKER! Cover, TWO!! Cassidy survives an almost inverted Moonlight Drive, but Johnny drags him to a corner, to KNEE him back down! Cassidy is in the drop zone, Johnny goes up, STARSHIP PAIN FLOPS as Cassidy moves! Cassidy drags himself to the apron and fans fire up with him! Cassidy climbs, but Johnny goes up to clinch Cassidy! Cassidy shoves him away!

Johnny lands on his feet, but Cassidy hits DEEP IMPACT! Cassidy keeps moving, tilt-o-whirl DDT! Cassidy kips up, hobbles, throws off the elbow pad, and fans fire up for the ORANGE PUNCH!! Johnny rebounds, into BEACH BREAK!! Cover, Cassidy wins!!

Winner: Orange Cassidy, by pinfall (still AEW International Champion)

19-0 in 2023, 28-0 as champion! Yuta stands up off commentary and wants a “closer look.” Freshly Squeezed is a fighting champion, but does The Decoder want his shot at that title? Cassidy gets a mic to tell Yuta, “Hey! Hey! What’s taking you so long? I know you can walk faster than that. Get to this ring so I can punch your face in!” Yuta says okay then. Yuta picks up the pace, but wait! Here comes Moxley & Claudio! The BCC was lying in wait! They already took out Trent & Chuck, is Cassidy the last piece of Best Friends they need to remove? Cassidy is ready for a fight, but then The BCC just regroups at the ramp.

Yuta has a mic to tell Cassidy, “You know just as well as I do that the BCC could get in that ring right now and make sure you leave Columbus in an ambulance! But I’ll be honest, I think that’s a little bit beneath us at this point. I think that’s a little bit beneath the Blackpool Combat Club, and most importantly, what would that accomplish, right? You’re the guy who doesn’t care about anything. And I don’t just wanna hurt you physically, I wanna hurt you deep down inside, emotionally. I wanna hurt you mentally, I wanna take… the only thing that you actually care about. So next week in Nashville, put that International Championship on the line, and I’ll walk out with it.”

Fans boo but the challenge has been issued. Will The Decoder break Cassidy’s golden record in Music City?

AEW takes a closer look at the ROH World Tag Team Championships.

Ian Riccaboni says that for almost 21 years now, “the ROH World Tag Team Championships have had the amazing distinction of being interchangeable at the top of the card with the ROH World Championship. And it started out from day one. Christopher Daniels & Donovan Morgan, The Prophecy, won the championships in September of 2002. From there, it was a tag team renaissance with teams like Kevin Steen & El Generico, The American Wolves, The Kings of Wrestling, the record-setting Briscoe Brothers. 13 reigns, and the most days as champions of any teams. OGK, reDRagon, The Young Bucks, the Motor City Machine Guns, and even The Hardys.

“And the inclusion of the Hardys is super important because it showed that ROH had become a destination for tag team wrestling in the professional wrestling world.” Some of the most gruesome matches have also been for these titles. Just last year, FTR VS Briscoes, Double Dog Collar Tag Team Match, Final Battle. That is in Ian’s opinion, THE greatest match in ROH history. But it is interesting that some of the greatest singles wrestlers in ROH history have opted to challenge for the tag titles. AJ Styles, CM Punk, Bryan Danielson. In many cases, the sums of the parts are greater than the whole, but nothing beats the “well-oiled machine” teams like Lucha Brothers, FTR, Aussie Open, and of course, The Briscoes.

Aussie Open VS The Outrunners!

Speaking of the ROH World Tag Team Champions, Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis are ready to show us all they aren’t just one of those “well-oiled machines,” but that they are the best tag team in the world today! Will the Aussie Arrow & Dunkzilla do just that here? Or will Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd show they’re the future of tag team wrestling by channeling the past?

The teams sort out and Davis starts against Turbo. Fans rally up and Turbo does a very Macho Man spin, but Davis BOOTS him down! Then Kyle flies in to GAMANGIRI Truth! Aussie Open double whip Turbo, DOUBLE ELBOW him down, then PENALTY KICK and SENTON! Truth runs in but Aussie Open give him a DOUBLE FLAPJACK! Davis clotheslines Truth out, Kyle does the same to Turbo! Then Aussie Open goes out after them, fans join in on “AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!” “OI OI OI!” They pick up one Outrunner each, run around the way, and meet with a SPINEBUSTER SANDWICH!

Fans fire up as the United Empire throws the crowns up. Davis puts Turbo in, drags him up, and CHOPS him! Turbo sputters, Davis bumps him off buckles, and CHOPS again! Tag to Kyle, and he feeds Turbo to a fireman’s carry! Truth saves Turbo, runs in, but into a HIDDEN GAP SUPERKICK! A shot at Bishamon? But then Davis fireman’s carries Truth, Kyle takes aim, sign Truth up for the AUSSIE DENTAL PLAN! Then Davis scoops Truth again, Kyle goes up, FLYING LAWN DART CUTTER! Tag back to Davis and Turbo staggers up. The elbow pads come off, for the CROSS BOMBER! And then COREALIS!! Cover, Aussie Open wins!

Winners: Aussie Open, by pinfall

The Outrunners could NOT outrun what was coming, nor could they survive it! Aussie Open gets the mics and Davis says, “Hey, hey, hey, hey, Maxwell! Maxwell & Lil’ Adam! You guys wanna run around for five weeks, holding hands, doing double clotheslines, and think that you have what it takes to call yourselves a professional wrestling tag team?” Fans chant for “DOUBLE CLOTHESLINES!” Kyle says, “Max, Adam, the only reason these people care about you is because they are waiting for the inevitable MJF backstab. So you want to challenge us to a match for these in the UK? Which compared to Australia, is practically a third-world country.”

But they want a shot in the Zero Hour before competing in the main event of THE BIGGEST professional wrestling show in history? Davis says tell ’em! Kyle says, “WE ACCEPT! And we will walk out still the ROH World Tag Team Champions, because we’re Aussie Open, and we RUN! THE! WORLD! AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!” “OI OI OI!” And so it is official! MJF & Cole get their shot at becoming champions together, but will they fall short against the well-oiled machine?

Jeff Jarrett speaks.

“AEW, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre video game is coming to Dynamite this week. That’s right, ol’ Double J and AEW Business Development, with my man, Slick Nick Sobits, and of course alongside the Top Dog himself, Tony Khan, what a whopper of a sponsorship deal we have this week. The first-ever Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch Championship! And y’know, rumor has it, that everyone’s favorite anti-hero, Leatherface, just might be in the house. It’s gonna be none other than The Last Outlaw himself, Jeff Jarrett, taking on Mr. Extreme, Jeff Hardy! You bring your crew, I’m bringing my crew. The rules to a deathmatch are there are no rules!

“Jeff Hardy, the Last Outlaw is gonna leave you with one final word: I’m taking you out.” It is the battle of Jeffs at Fight for the Fallen, who will survive this horror movie wrestling mash-up?

BREAKING NEWS for Dynamite: Fight For the Fallen 2023!

On top of Jeff Jarrett VS Jeff Hardy in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Match, the International Championship is officially on the line as Cassidy defends against Yuta! Will the BCC build up its gold treasury? Plus, MJF & Adam Cole will further discuss their plans for All In now that they also have the ROH World Tag Team Championship match in the All In Zero Hour! Will they be able to hold it together with so many forces trying to pull them apart?

Mark Henry welcomes us back to the show.

Tonight, Saraya and Skye Blue battle to determine who moves on to All In’s AEW Women’s World Championship Fatal 4 Way. It’s TIME for the main event!

AEW Women’s World Championship Qualifier: Saraya w/ The Outcasts VS Skye Blue!

But of course Toni Storm & Ruby Soho are here with the Rogue Knight. They’ve had beef with Chicago Skye before, but now there’s a golden prize waiting on the other side! Will Saraya help Storm stack the deck in the Outcasts’ favor? Or will Skye defy the odds and make it to Wembley Stadium?

The bell rings and fans rally up for Skye as she circles with Saraya. Saraya tells the fans to shut up, and then she ties up with Skye. Skye powers Saraya to ropes but Saraya slips between them for a defense. Skye lets off and Saraya cools off. The two reset and circle again. They tie up, go around, and Skye powers Saraya to a corner. Saraya shouts and the ref counts, and Skye lets off cleanly again. Saraya says, “What’s your problem?” and she pie faces Skye! Skye scowls, dodges Saraya’s haymaker and backslides! TWO, but Skye cradles! TWO! Skye sunset flips, TWO! Saraya sits on it, TWO! Skye has the sunset again, TWO!

Saraya runs in, but Skye ELBOWS her! Skye goes up, leaps, and CROSSBODIES again! Cover, TWO! Saraya bails out and the Outcasts are there. Skye storms to the apron, runs in, and PENALTY KICKS Storm! And then MULE KICKS Ruby! Fans fire up with Skye and she CANNONBALLS but FLOPS as Storm saves Saraya!

Fans boo, Saraya stomps away on Skye, and the ref reprimands the Outcasts as Rampage goes to picture in picture. Saraya argues with the ref, and she hauls Skye up to RAM her into railing! Saraya leaves Skye behind, argues with the ref, and that allows Storm & Soho to stomp away on Skye! They scurry away and Saraya goes back out to drag Skye up. Saraya RAMS Skye back into the railing, and then brings her around to POST her! Skye flops against the apron but Saraya stalks her. Saraya stomps Skye, slides back into the ring, and she again distracts the ref so Soho & Storm can stomp Skye some more!

Storm stands on Skye a few extra seconds before scurrying away again. Saraya goes out to fetch Skye, and she drags her up into a chinlock. Skye fights with body shots, ROCKS Saraya with forearms, but Saraya BOOTS her down! Fans rally but Saraya HEADBUTTS Skye down, too! Saraya soaks up the heat, puts Skye in the ropes, and goes out to fire off KNEE after KNEE after KNEE! Sararya howls as Skye flops back into the ring, then Saraya covers. TWO, and Saraya is annoyed. Saraya stalks Skye, mocks her, and has her in a corner to dig her boot in. The ref counts, Saraya stomps away until 4.

Saraya soaks up more heat, digs her boot in again, but Skye fights up! Skye throws Saraya down! Saraya bails out, staggers around, and Skye runs in, but into an apron skirt trap! Saraya fires off forearms, then goes back into the ring. Saraya again distracts the ref and Storm digs her foot into Skye’s face! Skye BITES Storm’s toes! That’s what happens when she doesn’t wear shoes out here! Soho SLAPS Skye, then checks Storm’s foot. Skye sputters, Saraya drags her back up, and Rampage returns to single picture. Saraya brings Skye into the ring, whips her to a corner, and then she runs in to SHINING WIZARD!

Saraya snapmares Skye, then SHINING WIZARDS again! Cover, TWO! Skye is hanging tough and Saraya is frustrated. Saraya clamps onto Skye with a chinlock, then traps an arm. Saraya has more of a head vice on Skye now, but Skye endures! Fans rally, Skye gets her arms free and throws body shots, only for Saraya to throw her down! Saraya insults Skye as a stupid girl, and then brings her up to whip her to ropes. Skye tilt-o-whirls to RANA! Fans fire up and Skye runs in, to SHINING WIZARD against ropes! Skye snapmares, Saraya blocks the kick, but Skye comes around with the BASEMENT ENZIGURI! Cover, TWO!

Fans fire up as Skye runs, to hop on and CODE BLUE!!

But Soho and Storm each distract! Fans boo but Skye swings on Soho! Only to get the SPRAY PAINT! Skye flails blindly, Saraya hits GOOD KNIGHT! Cover, Saraya wins!

Winner: Saraya, by pinfall (advances to the title match)

The Outcasts now have two of the four spots in the title match! And bigger than that, Saraya is heading home! The Outcasts stomp away on Skye and fans boo, Storm venting all her frustrations through her fists! Saraya applauds while the fans boo, and no one shows up to stop them. Will nothing stop The Outcasts from taking the title when they have 50-50 odds?

My Thoughts:

A really good Rampage, with great story development towards not just All-In but the weekly TV. I was really surprised neither Darby VS Cage or the International Championship match were in the first half of the night, but we’ve been seeing AEW sorta kinda technically prioritize the women’s division by making their one match a show into the main event. However, I feel like they could’ve made an exception this time as I figured Saraya was of course going to win and of course do it by cheating. Saraya is gonna be the hometown, well, Heel, I suppose, and she and Storm will certainly work together the entire match. Britt had a good promo to hype up her match with Bunny, and I would think Britt wins that. We might even get a tag match on the go-home Dynamite.

Speaking of Darby, great opener from him and Cage. Great win for Darby, and Luchasaurus attacking was unexpected. But what was that soap opera soft lighting filter as Christian Cage as he was watching that? It was so weird. I mean, it looked nice but still. And also, the tag team match being upgraded to a TAG TEAM CASKET MATCH is awesome, but that almost has to mean Darby & Sting win, right? Though it would be great stuff if Swerve & Fox won, putting Darby & Sting in the coffin(s), and then we get an epic return from them in time for Full Gear and an even wilder rematch.

Great International Championship match, Johnny is so smooth in the ring, but nice little detail of Yuta showing up. Cassidy beating Johnny was expected, but I like that it has lined up that Cassidy’s 20th match this year is Yuta. And then it being the 29th defense, I feel like Cassidy wins that to then have like Jon Moxley be his 30th defense for All In or All Out. Make it All Out, as All In is already pretty stacked. Speaking of, Aussie Open of course win here tonight, and of course they accept the tag title challenge for the Zero Hour. Great ROH World Tag Team Championship history vignette, too, and with The Kingdom getting in on the story, they surely cost Cole & MJF.

And uh, what an odd match in the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch,” Jeff Jarrett VS Jeff Hardy. I mean, it’s not like AEW hasn’t done odd brand integrations before. Or WWE for that matter. And a Deathmatch of Jarrett and Hardy is still an awesome idea. Jarrett even said to go ahead and bring everyone, so Hardy Party and Triple J are basically having a blowoff through this match, with only the Jeffs able to end it with a pinfall or submission. For being based on a slasher movie, this might actually be a lot of fun.

My Score: 8.6/10

Adam Copeland VS “Big Bill” Morrissey!

Athens, Georgia is fired up to see the Rated R Superstar, but of course Jericho joins commentary, Bryan Keith by his side. Will The Learning Tree make Cope RESPECT Chris Jericho? Or is a Redwood about to fall?

The bell rings, the two tie up, and Cope manages to push Bill back step by step! The fans rally, but Bill powers Cope all the way to a corner! Cope bounces off buckles, bails out of the ring, and Bill soaks up the heat. Cope shakes off hitting buckles but Bill storms out after him. Bill runs up, but Cope drop toeholds him into steel steps! Jericho coaches Bill up, but Cope drags Bill to the apron! Cope fires forearms, then runs, but Bill dodges! Bill CLUBS away on Cope in the ropes! The fans boo but Jericho says that’s what Cope deserves! Bill then hops down, so he can BOOT Cope! Cope tumbles to the floor, Bill soaks up more heat, and the ring count begins. Bill drags Code up, to SNAKE EYES off the desk! Jericho is okay with it when it’s Cope taking the desk to the face. The fans duel, Bill SMACKS Cope off the apron, then he SMACKS Cope off steel steps! Bill refreshes the count, taunts the fans, and he stands Cope up to scoop, SNAKE EYES to the steps!

Cope falls back, Jericho and Keith applaud, and Jericho even high-fives Keith and Bill. Bill refreshes the ring count, then he drags Cope up. Bill puts Cope against railing, and puts some stank on the CHOP! The fans are torn, Bill mocks Cope’s pain, then Bill scuffs Cope. Cope stands Bill up, to CHOP him down again! Bill refreshes the count yet again, and he gets the fans to boo him louder. Cope rolls into the ring, but Bill puts him on the apron! Bill CLUBS Cope, taunts him with the rock ‘n’ roll hands, then CLUBS Cope again! Cope slumps down, Bill stands him up! Bill hits SNAKE EYES off the barriers!

Hangman Page speaks.

“I have worked so hard in my wrestling career to protect my family from the kind of prying eyes, the kind of intrusions that even a small amount of fame can bring. And in one night, all of that work was undone. And it nearly tore my family apart. And though it didn’t tear my family apart, it broke me. Because for the first time, I was ashamed! I was ashamed to come here every week, I was ashamed to stand in front of the world, and I was ashamed to look my wife and my son in the eyes after what I allowed to happen to them! And I knew after awhile, that I had to make a decision. I could either remain the husk of a man that I was…

“Or I could do something about it. So I found Swerve Strickland. And I made sure that he did not hold the AEW World Championship. And I severed the ties to the last hope that he had that he could build a family and a home like I had! And in September, I all but spilled his brains in front of the world. Christopher Daniels, I know, I understand what you are trying to say to me. And I humored you, maybe for too long, because of who you were. When I met you 14 years ago, I was just a kid, and you were the first wrestler I’d met that had ever done anything, who told me that I could, too.

“So I humored you for awhile. But I listened for too long. And last Saturday, you crossed a line when you laid hands on me. And for that, you will pay the price. Saturday on Collision in Cincinnati, Maximum Carnage, Christopher Daniels, I will see you… in a TEXAS DEATH MATCH. And I need you to understand this going into Cincinnati. I have decided who I will be. And I will wake up every morning and I will make that same decision over and over again, because I would rather injure and maim, I would rather tear every life on this Earth apart, than be the man that I was last year.

“CD, you have made your bed.  And next Saturday, I lay you down in it… forever.” The Cowboy has called his shot, but will The Fallen Angel make sure to strike first?

Christopher Daniels speaks.

“Hangman Page, what you don’t seem to understand is I was never approaching you as an AEW official. Even when I was still an EVP, I was trying to be a friend to you. I’ve known you for more than 15 years, and I saw you go through the worst year and a half of your life. I saw all of your friends desert you. I saw the fans turn their backs on you. And I wanted to be a friend to you. But every time I reached out, you responded with violence. And I don’t even care about getting punched, I’ve been knocked on my ass more than 1000 times in my life, Adam! But when we stood face to face, you called me an old man and asked me what I’ve done in professional wrestling?

“That hurt. Apparently, it’s time for a history lesson, Adam. I’ll tell you what I’ve done. I’ve won championships, I’ve main evented PPVs, I’ve wrestled all around the world. And if a professional wrestling company mattered in the last THIRTY-TWO YEARS, I wrestled there! I helped build two professional wrestling companies from the ground up. I was AEW before AEW was even real. So maybe 2024 wasn’t my best in-ring year of my career. But it’s 2025 now, and I’m not an EVP anymore. I’m just a man who’s sick and tired of being disrespected!

“Maximum Carnage Collision, Adam Page, you want Texas Death? I already shown I’m willing to shed MY blood, I’ll shed yours, as well. Maybe I’ll add beating your ass to my list of accomplishments.” The Fallen Angel is ready, will he make sure Texas Death is the end of #CowboyS*it?

He continued that momentum into 2025 in the Tokyo Dome, we heard everything good Ospreay had to say about Brody and Buddy, and Brody just got a big win. How is he feeling? My Thoughts:

A great Collision that did an excellent job of blending stories while telling those stories in the ring. Mariah VS Harley was great stuff, and Harley is getting to look stronger and stronger each week. While AEW has “a lot of belts,” or “too many belts” depending on your opinion, only two of those belts are women’s titles. Harley Cameron should be a contender for a Women’s International Championship, perhaps even crowning her at Grand Slam: Australia next month. But of course Mariah won, she needs to be strong going towards that same event, and the Women’s Casino Gauntlet will be great stuff to determine her next challenger.

Great TNT Championship match from Garcia VS Shibata to reach back and make good on that promo when Garcia won the title. The C2 is partly why they waited on this, but Garcia VS Shibata made for just the right thing to fill out this episode. Garcia of course retained, but it was a good move to have it be by jackknife bridge. Meanwhile, with Mark Briscoe & Private Party facing The Hurt Syndicate next week, we should definitely see things move towards Garcia & Private Party VS Hurt Syndicate, and then all those titles can be on the line. I can’t be sure how any of those matches go, but if it’s Lashley going for the TNT title, it’s very likely Lashley wins.

Brody King of course gets a squash match victory, but he was brought here mostly so Cope could talk with him in the same nature as Ospreay talking with Buddy Matthews. This is AEW telling us Malakai Black really IS leaving without saying it outright. If only TK had figured out he should book Buddy, Brody and Malakai for singles title stories like he has other factions. Basically, House of Black could’ve been doing what The Don Callis Family has been doing with Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher. In fact, The House could’ve been feuding with The Don Callis Family, too, with those singles titles being the goal.

Good cold open promos that weren’t redundant this time, and then we got a great match of Cope VS Bill. Cope cheating to win was a bit of a surprise, but I suppose Cope was sending a message to The Death Riders. Great brawl for Rated FTR with Learning Tree, and I like how they used to that to change things up for the main event just a touch. Pac VS Komander was great stuff, too, and I like The Outrunners going after the Death Riders to save Komander. Komander & Outrunners could make a great trio that takes Pac, Claudio & Yuta on for the trios titles, even if it’s a losing effort.

Hobbs had a very good promo, but it didn’t necessarily change anything from his post-match promo on Wednesday. Great main event for Dax VS Jericho, but of course Jericho cheated. I feel like the cheat spot they wanted messed up, though. Jericho shoves ref, Dax dives, but I feel like the belt should’ve been there for Dax to “land on.” That aside, things of course turn back into a brawl, and while Rated FTR and Outrunners were on the same side, it made some sense that Death Riders would beat up Learning Tree members because everyone is an enemy to The Death Riders. I figured Moxley would get the better of Cope, and then great save moment for Hobbs.

Hobbs looks unstoppable as he takes out the Heels and scares Moxley off, but then that signals the go-home math of Moxley winning at Maximum Carnage. News is going around that Darby Allin was written off the way he was so he could climb Mount Everest like he’s always wanted. We can only hope and pray Darby doesn’t get hurt or worse on that mountain so that he can come back closer to Revolution and go after Moxley again. Honestly, Christian Cage trying to cash in on Wednesday should be a thing, too. It can even be a way to protect Hobbs in the loss, and give us a roundabout reunion of Team Taz as Hobbs and Hook go after The Patriarchy.

My Score: 8.8/10

Will Ospreay VS Buddy Matthews!

The Aerial Assassin may not be Continental Champion after Worlds End, but you best believe he is going to shrug that off and keep on fighting. Will Ospreay make 2025 the Year of the Bruv? Or will the Aussie Juggernaut show that even in the New Year, the House Always Wins?

The bell rings and the fans fire up already. Ospreay gets Clarksville even more fired up as he and Buddy circle. They tie up, Buddy wrenches an arm to a wristlock, but Ospreay rolls and wrenches back. Buddy spins, headlocks, but Ospreay powers up and out. Buddy runs Ospreay over, but Ospreay kips up! The fans fire up, then Ospreay kicks low. Ospreay headlocks, Buddy powers up and out, and they RAM shoulders. Buddy comes back to CLOBBER Ospreay! The fans fire up, Buddy runs but Ospreay drops down. Ospreay ROCKS Buddy, CHOPS him, then runs, but Buddy slingshots up and over! Ospreay slides out, Buddy DROPKICKS him!

Buddy builds speed, Ospreay is back in, and he runs past Buddy to then come back and RANA! Buddy tumbles out, Ospreay PLANCHAS! Down goes Buddy and the fans fire up! Ospreay grins as the fans chant “BRUV! BRUV! BRUV!” Ospreay puts Buddy in the ring, springboards, but Buddy avoids the flying forearm! Buddy clamps on the chinlock, Ospreay endures, and the fans rally again.

Ospreay fights up, fires body shots, but Buddy CLUBS him on the neck. Buddy back suplexes, Ospreay lands out! Ospreay ducks ‘n’ dodges but then so does Buddy! DOUBLE CROSSBODIES collide! The fans fire up while both men are down! The ref checks, Ospreay and Buddy are both okay to continue, so a standing count starts. Both men are still down at 5 of 10, but they rise up at 7. They find each other, and Ospreay fires forearms! Ospreay whips, Buddy reverses but Ospreay handsprings! NEURALIZER KICK! Buddy goes to a corner, the fans fire up, and Ospreay runs in, only to be put on the apron!

Buddy goes up, but Ospreay tucks him in! CHEEKY- NO, Buddy avoids the superkick! Buddy then KNEES Ospreay in the back, and gives him a LUMBAR CHECK! A shoutout to an old rival, and Ospreay bails out of the ring. Buddy FLIES! Down goes Ospreay, and Buddy just barely clears the desk! The fans fire up and Buddy puts Ospreay in the ring. Buddy goes up, “This is Awesome!” as he METEORAS! Cover, TWO!!

Buddy is frustrated as Ospreay finds a way to survive, but Clarksville still loves it. Buddy goes out after Ospreay on the apron, then brings Ospreay up. Buddy half nelsons, but Ospreay fights with elbows! Buddy BOOTS Ospreay! Ospreay BOOTS Buddy! Then Ospreay blocks a boot, only to get a KNEE! Ospreay SUPERKICKS back! Ospreay goes up the corner, for an APRON OSC- NO! Buddy stops that to TOSS Ospreay at the desk!! Ospreay clutches his jaw while Buddy grins, and Buddy storms over to bring Ospreay up. Buddy CHOPS Ospreay, then he barks on behalf of Brody King. The fans join in and Buddy gets space.

Buddy runs back up, and he BOOTS Ospreay against railing! The fans fire up and Buddy leaves Ospreay to refresh the ring count. Buddy runs back in, but Ospreay SUPERKICKS! Ospreay goes up the barriers, OSCUTTER to the floor! The fans fire up for “A E DUB! A E DUB!” as Ospreay crawls. Ospreay leaves Buddy behind now, safe in the ring. The count climbs to 7, but Buddy staggers his way over. Ospreay goes out to the other side of the ring, and as Buddy crawls in at 9, Ospreay goes COAST2COAST! Ospreay fires up with the fans, and he hits an OSCUTTER! Cover, TWO!! Buddy survives and the fans fire up again!

Ospreay powers up the arm! Ospreay aims as Buddy sit sup, but Buddy ducks the Hidden Blade! POP-UP KNEE! HIDDEN BLADE ANYWAY!! Cover, TWO!! Buddy survives again and the fans hope they “FIGHT FOREVER!” But this is the first match of the show, it has to end somehow! Ospreay hauls Buddy up, underhooks the arms, but Buddy is a ragdoll! Torture rack and REVERSE GO TO SLEEP!! CURB STOMP!! Cover, TWO?!? Buddy gave shoutouts to The Second City Saint AND the Visionary, but it wasn’t enough to stop Ospreay! Buddy hauls Ospreay up, short arm- NO, Ospreay slips through the lariat! He hoists Buddy up, tucks him in, STYLES CLASH!! Cover, TWO!!! Ospreay aims as Buddy flounders. Buddy grins as he dares Ospreay to do it! BONE HIDDEN BLADE!! Cover, Ospreay wins!

Winner: Will Ospreay, by pinfall

The Juggernaut pushed the limits, but the Assassin still found the way to win! Ospreay does applaud Buddy, then he grabs a mic. Ospreay says, “Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, whatever you identify as, give it up for Buddy Murphy Matthews.” The fans do cheer, and Ospreay continues with, “Listen. I’ve admired you from afar. I wrestled your best mate, and I can tell you this, my friend. I wrestled you and I wrestled Brody King. Both of you guys don’t need to be following no leader at all, you can definitely do it all by yourself.” The fans cheer that, too.

Ospreay says today, Buddy showed he can go with one of the best, and while Ospreay sees tag gold in the House’s future, he also knows Buddy can have singles gold if he works hard enough. So believe Ospreay, this isn’t the last time they meet. If Buddy ever needs a man in his corner, then Ospreay is his guy. Ospreay offers a hand, and Buddy shakes it! The fans cheer and Ospreay heads out, will what he said have Buddy thinking of his own fortune?

AEW shares highlights from WrestleDynasty.

Don Callis says, “Oh my God, has there ever been two better days in Japan than the ones we just had? Takeshita is the best wrestler in the world!” Brody King says, “AEW and NJPW, these dogs will fight again.” Mercedes Mone says she told us she was going to be Three Belts Mone, but look! She has an extra one! So now, call her FOUR Belts Mone! And Claudio Castagnoli says that, though he lost, the difference between him and everybody else is that he is still here!

And of course, the NEW IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks say that they’ve been working from home for a long time, who knows when they will be back. Maybe soon. They might even bring these tag titles with them to Dynamite on MAX. Maybe. As for Kenny Omega, he says people have been wondering if he’s back. After his brutal match with Gabe Kidd, yeah, he’s back. In fact, we will hear from Omega in person later tonight, what will he have to say to his company?

Private Party is here!

Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy are here, bringing both the AEW World Tag Team Championships and some special VIP guests. Cheesecake lets the ladies beyond the velvet rope, and they drink up while Brother Zay gets the mic. “Ey yo, Tennessee, what’s good?” The fans cheer, and Zay says no no, not like that. Tennessee, what’s good?! The fans get louder and Zay likes it. But last Saturday on Collision, ya bois made history! They were in the first-ever tag team title match to be featured on both MAX and TNT! The fans cheer that, and Zay says they walked into Charlotte, North Carolina the AEW Tag Team Champions, and they left still your tag team champions!

And y’know what? Zay says it’s time to celebrate! Tennessee, you wanna celebrate, right? The fans cheer, so Zay says how ’bout this? Let’s celebrate- WAIT! The Hurt Syndicate is here? The fans cheer as Montel Vontavious Porter leads Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley out here, and Zay tells Cheesecake that it’s alright. MVP says what a party! The Syndicate wants to party, too. They like having a good time. They’re not all business. And the velvet rope and the VIP room, MVP invented this! Zay says that’s true, that’s true. Quen gives the Syndicate glasses, and MVP says how about they all raise a toast to Private Party?

The fans cheer, and MVP asks for a shot. Zay says go ahead. MVP picks up a glass, and he proposes a toast to these young and incredibly talented athletes, who successfully defended the AEW World Tag Team Championships! Zay loves that! And Bobby adds, “Here’s to the Hurt Syndicate… taking those tag team titles.” Okay, now there’s a problem. Lashley DUMPS the shot into the ice bucket, then he heads to the ring, ready for his match tonight. Will The All Mighty strike fear into the hearts of all the champions of AEW? Or can the Sussex County Chicken #ManUp and bring down the Rocky Mountain Machine?

MVP joins commentary to explain that this match is happening because Briscoe “interfered” with Hurt Syndicate business, which is to say Briscoe saved Daniel Garcia from them. The bell rings and the fans rally as the two circle. Briscoe and Lashley tie up, and Lashley powers Briscoe to a corner. The ref counts, Lashley lets off slowly, and the fans cheer for #DemBoys. Lashley pats Briscoe on the head, then opens ropes for Briscoe to step out. Briscoe shoves Lashley and tells him he’s playing with the wrong one. Lashley and Briscoe reset, circle, but then Briscoe dodges Lashley and CHOPS! The fans “WOO~” while Lashley scowls.

Briscoe ROCKS and CHOPS, then runs, but into a clinch! FLATLINER! Lashley brings Briscoe up for another FLATLINER! Lashley then snap suplexes Briscoe! Briscoe goes to a corner, Lashley runs up and RAMS him! Then Lashley turns Briscoe for a NECKBREAKER! Lashley drags Briscoe up, gut wrenches, and he hits the AK47! Cover, TWO! Briscoe climbs, leaps, but into Lashley’s arms! OVERHEAD BELLY2BELLY! Briscoe tumbles out of the ring, but Lashley goes out the side and runs in, to CLOBBER Briscoe! MVP is having fun, “Like a Mack truck with no brakes, Bobby Lashley coming through!” Lashley hauls Briscoe up and throws him OVERHEAD again! Briscoe writhes, Lashley grins, MVP mockingly says Briscoe looks hurt, and Dynamite goes picture in picture.

Lashley high-fives MVP and Shelton, then goes back to Briscoe. Lashley drags Briscoe up to then RAM him into the railing! The fans fire up and Lashley grins as he brings Briscoe around, to RAM him back into railing! The ref reprimands, Lashley leaves Briscoe to the ring count, but Briscoe is in at 5 of 10. Lashley stomps away on Briscoe at the ropes! The ref counts, Lashley steps off, but then Lashley CHOKES Briscoe! Lashley fires crossface forearms, but he stops as the ref counts to 4.

Lashley drags Briscoe up, RAMS him in the corner again and again, then brings him around to TOSS out of the ring! Briscoe sputters, Lashley argues with the ref, but Shelton steps a little closer to Briscoe. Shelton takes off his winter coat, but Briscoe is up already! Lashley throat chops Briscoe! The ref reprimands but Lashley RAMS into Briscoe the corner! Then Lashley whips Briscoe corner to corner hard, and Briscoe bounces off buckles. Briscoe slumps down, Lashley says one more time, and he whips Briscoe hard the other way! Briscoe slumps down again, Dynamite returns to single picture. and Lashley whips a third time! Briscoe goes up and up to FLYING FOREARM! Briscoe CHOPS, forearms, and repeat! The fans fire up as Briscoe fires more strikes, then whips. Lashley reverses but Briscoe goes up, only to get caught! Lashley puts Briscoe on the apron, and throat chops again!

The ref reprimands but Lashley runs to ELBOW Briscoe down! Briscoe hits the floor hard and MVP asks if they know a good chiropractor. Lashley soaks up the cheers and jeers again, then goes outside, but where’s Briscoe? Lashley looks under the ring, and Briscoe JAMS Lashley with a chair! MVP protests but the ref didn’t see it so he can’t call it! Briscoe then sets the chair up in the ring, runs and FLIES! Down goes Lashley and fans fire up while MVP is freaking out! MVP demands to know, where’s the disqualification? Briscoe high-fives fans, then brings Lashley up, but Lashley fireman’s carries!

Lashley aims for a corner, but Briscoe CLAWS Lashley’s eyes! Then he BITES Lashley’s face! Then Briscoe POSTS Lashley, and he climbs the corner! SUPER MARIPOSA! The fans are thunderous but MVP says this is a travesty! Briscoe puts Lashley in, gets moving, and he SLIDING LARIATS! Briscoe calls his shot and climbs a corner! FROGGY-BOW! Cover, ONE?!?! Lashley is angry, MVP says this is what cheaters get! Briscoe gets the fans fire dup more, then runs up, but Lashley ELBOWS him away! Briscoe just fires up more! But Lashley BOOTS him away! Briscoe comes back again, but Lashley dodges!

Lashley runs and he SPEARS Briscoe down! But that’s not all, MILE HIGH SPINEBUSTER! And then HURT LOCK!! Briscoe flails, but he’s stuck! Briscoe is OUT, Lashley wins!

Winner: Bobby Lashley, by submission

But Lashley holds on until MVP & Shelton join him in the ring! They get him to drop Briscoe, and now The Hurt Syndicate adds on! They all punch and stomp, but here comes Private Party! The fans fire up as Quen & Zay storm the ring! They’re friends with Daniel Garcia and with Mark Briscoe, so they won’t let this stand! MVP says that’s fine, he respects that. The Syndicate stands down, but will they put Private Party through a world of hurt once those tag titles are on the line?

Men’s Casino Gauntlet!

The AEW World Championship will be on the line next week when Jon Moxley returns home to Cincinnati, Ohio, and it will be against the man who wins tonight’s big gamble! The Switchblade won the right to start this match, but will he be able to run the Casino Gauntlet? Or is first truly the worst?

Joining Jay White out here is… HANGMAN PAGE! A fitting way to start given the grudge between these two. The bell rings and the fans fire up for this already. Hangman and White stare down but the third man could join any time. White and Hangman talk trash, but Hangman points out how White took the fall at Worlds End. White counters with how Hangman didn’t win, though. They poke at each other, then shove! Then White CHOPS! The fans “WOO~,” Hangman CHOPS back, but so does White! Hangman CHOPS again, White staggers, but comes back to CHOP! They fire hands, then Hangman tells the ref to shut up.

White CHOPS back! And CHOPS again! But Hangman headlocks, only for White to power up and out. Hangman CLOBBERS White, covers, ONE! Hangman stays on White with a CHOP, then he fireman’s carries. White fights free, CHOPS again, then whips. Hangman reverses to scoop, but White drags Hangman into a cradle! TWO, and White TOSSES Hangman out! Hangman ROCKS White, slingshots, but into the BLADE- NO, Hangman fights free to a DEAD- NO, White fights free to CHOP! Hangman ROLLING ELBOWS! Hangman runs up but White turns things around and hoists Hangman up top!

White hurries up to the very top, SUPER DUPER PLEX! Both men are down and the fans fire up! Wait, we get a countdown, and the third man is… WHEELER YUTA! The Decoder is a Death Rider, so he must be here just so he can hand Moxley an easy win next week. Yuta also takes his time entering from the crowd, watching White writhe. Yuta then slides in and runs up, but into a BLADERUNNER!! Cover, Hangman breaks it! Hangman stomps White, stomps him some more, then stalks him while fans rally. White CHOPS back, CHOPS again, then whisp. Hangman reverses but White ducks ‘n’ dodges, only for Hangman to scoop! FALL AWAY SLAM!

The fans fire up while Hangman aims from a corner. Hangman runs corner to corner to LARIAT! The fans rally, Hangman whips corner to corner, then hits another LARIAT! Hangman whips yet again, but White dodges Hangman, and he CHOPS! White runs up, is put on the apron, but he blocks a shot! Winner: “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs, by pinfall (NEW #1 Contender to the AEW World Championship)

The Powerhouse puts an end to the gauntlet, and Renee Paquette steps in for an interview. The fans chant “MEAT! MEAT! MEAT!” as Renee says huge congratulations are in order. It is now official for next week, January 15th, Maximum Carnage, Moxley VS Hobbs for the AEW World Championship! Hobbs has been through so much just to make it to this point, what does it mean to him to have this world title match? Hobbs says, “Let’s shoot for a second. Let it be told that Jon Moxley is the one that brought me to AEW. But next week, I plan on shocking the world. But not only that, I plan on making Jon Moxley my B*TCH!”

The fans fire up for that, and next week will be a massive rematch from the night Hobbs went out with injury. Will the Book of Hobbs finally have a chapter about the world title? Or will The Maniac refuse to lose in his hometown?

Jeff Jarrett returns to the ring.

Ian Riccaboni meets The Last Outlaw there to say that we were hoping for a more “storybook ending” in the Casino Gauntlet. Tennessee is a state the Jarrett Family helped put on the pro-wrestling map, so how is he feeling? The fans cheer Double J, and Jarrett says it is 2025, and the Last Outlaw just has to ask himself one question: “Do I still have what it takes to climb that mountain?” The fans sure feel so! But wait! MJF makes his way out here! The fans are a bit torn as Maxwell Jacob Friedman joins Jarrett and Ian in the ring, and MJF tells Ian, “You Bible thumping p*ick, get outta my ring.”

Ian exits, and MJF tells “Jeffrey” that they’ve yet to officially meet. “You are looking at the longest-reigning and greatest AEW World Champion of all time. My name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, M J F.” And MJF wants Triple B back, but the title scene is just a lot of hard work. “Dictator Jon” has the belt, Hobbs is the #1 contender due to Jarrett’s failure, because he got beat up by Wheeler Yuta…? Wow. Then there’s Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, Hangman Page, a regular Dr. Seuss nightmare of names. But none of these men are worthy of holding the Triple B. But MJF can think of one man who just might be.

“A man who has beaten some of the biggest icons in the history of this sport. A man who has given his blood, sweat and tears to this game for 35+ years. A 12-time world champion, a two-time Hall of Famer, Tennessee’s own Double J, Jeff Jarrett!” Fans cheer the surprising amount of respect MJF is showing for Jarrett. MJF says, “Not that I knew any of that personally, I had to google all that because I’m not a dinosaur. But hey, kudos, because my dad told me he was a big fan of yours when he was a little kid, so good job.” MJF knows Jarrett wants to be world champion here, but based on what he said last week about this being his last wrestling contract… Clock’s ticking.

But MJF did some digging, and apparently Jarrett’s not been completely honest with the people. MJF imagines that is more out of sheer embarrassment. Because it turns out the contract Jarrett signed with AEW is only… for one more year. Oh, was MJF not supposed to say that? And the reason that is embarrassing is because that is not what Jarrett wanted. He doesn’t wanna retire yet. He had to sign that contract, because that is all pro-wrestling thinks Jarrett has left to give. The fans boo but MJF says hey, no, guys, he’s just telling the truth. He’s a facts man. He’s not here to piss off Double J. He’s here to help!

Because as MJF sees it, Jarrett only has one year to prove that he’s still got it. The fans chant, “You Still Got It!” MJF says one year to make sure Jarrett can listen to those chants for years to come! To prove himself! To make it back to the top of the mountain. MJF says he can help Jarrett become champion of the world one more time. He can. Because without MJF’s help, Jarrett probably can’t even win another match. MJF laughs, but he says hey, hey, all he is asking is one tiny little favor. When MJF helps Jarrett procure the Triple B, then MJF is first in line for the next shot. Okay, Tennessee, MJF knows you ain’t bright, but he’s still talking!

The fans boo but MJF Fargo Struts his way back to Jarrett. MJF asks J E Double F, J A Double R E Double T~… Wanna make a deal with lil’ ol’ MJF? The fans boo, don’t make a deal with the AEW Devil! MJF says shut up, who even asked them?! Jarrett takes the mic, and he tells Max, MJF was AEW World Champion. And just like MJF said, MJF was the longest-reigning champion in this company’s history, and that is impressive. But MJF’s still too damn young to understand that you learn more from your failures than you do your successes. Just because MJF was on top before doesn’t mean he’ll get there again

In fact, does MJF know what kids like him around here? “One hit wonders.” The fans echo that, and Jarrett tells Max, Jarrett knows the road he has to go down. He’s been at the bottom, and is comfortable there. This business, and this life, has put him there many times. But Jarrett knows that all gives him the opportunity to crawl, to scratch, to fight his way back to the top of the mountain. Max, you know it and Jarrett knows it. MJF could’ve entered tonight’s Casino Gauntlet, but what does he choose? To come out here later, to scheme and connive. That is what MJF does. Jarrett has been on top 12 times, and is looking for number 13 in 2025.

And like that old expression goes, “What a difference a year can make.” Jarrett sure as hell will make the most of 2025. So it comes down to this: Jarrett doesn’t need MJF! And as far as what MJF’s trying to sell him, Jarrett ain’t buying, “You entitled p*ick!” The fans fire up as Double J turns down MJF, but will the Wolf of Wrestling make him regret it?

Adam Copeland is here!

Clarksville fires up for the Rated R Superstar, and “Cope” makes his way to the ring. Cope gets the mic to call out Jon Moxley! “You and your Death Riders, right? While I was gone, you took out Bryan Danielson, possibly for good. As we just saw (on a replay), you threw Darby Allin down a flight of stairs, we haven’t seen him since. But man, the sin you can’t repent in my world is you tried to go after FTR. Now, I don’t know if you know this, but we’re very close friends, so massive mistake.” The fans applaud that. Cope continues by saying Moxley has named guys like Hangman, Jay White, Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin “don’t have what it takes to endure the grind.”

The fans boo and Cope says yeah, he also disagrees with Mox. But Cope wants them to know that no one, and he means no one, has fought through what COPE has fought through, just to be standing here in this ring! The fans cheer that! Cope says he will DIE on that hill, because he is a different animal entirely! “You’re looking at a man who broke his neck in a match with Eddie Guerrero!” You wanna know what Cope did? HE GOT UP! He wrestled another 20 minutes, and he WON that match! The fans cheer that, too! Cope says you are looking at a man who fought Malakai Black in a barbed wire steel cage match, broke his leg, and what’d he do?

HE GOT UP! Cope wrestled another 10 minutes, and he WON that match! So please, Moxley, as much as we know you’re one of the toughest bastards to ever step in this ring, please “enlighten” Cope what Moxley can do to him that hasn’t been done before?! But wait, here come the Death Riders! Jon Moxley himself makes his way out from the back, leading Yuta and Claudio. Cope is wary, because where could Marina and Pac be? The Maniac, the Swiss Cyborg and The Decoder seem to be the only ones making their way out here, but wait! FTR attacks them in the crowd! The fans fire up as Cash & Dax take care of Claudio & Yuta!

Cope storms out of the ring and goes after Moxley! He SMACKS Mox off the steel steps, then puts him in the ring! But Moxley stomps away on Cope now! Trash goes flying in the crowd, Cash sends Yuta into barriers! Moxley knees low, runs, but Cope BOOTS him down! The fans fire up for Cope and FTR keeps the Death Riders at bay! But now Marina Shafir is here! She slides the briefcase to Moxley while she goes after Cope, but Cope grabs her by the hair! But despite his rage, Cope has morals, so he lets her go. But PAC ATTACKS! The fans boo as The Bastard gets Cope down! Claudio & Yuta send FTR into barriers!

Moxley is back up, Pac sits Cope up for him, and Moxley clamps on the BULLY CHOKE! Cope is turning red already! The fans boo but The Death Riders all surround Cope as he fades out! FTR keep fighting but Claudio keeps them out of the ring. Marina gives Moxley a plastic bag!! But wait! Hobbs makes his way back out here! Hobbs may not be a friend of Cope’s but he wants to get at Moxley early! The straps come down as Hobbs storms up, and The Death Riders retreat! Not even all five of them want to mess with Hobbs! Will Powerhouse Hobbs be unstoppable at Maximum Carnage?

Mariah May speaks.

“The first-ever Women’s Casino Gauntlet for my AEW Women’s World Championship. Ladies, let’s make history… by dancing for me like the marionettes you are before I cut your strings and burn you alive.” But then Harley Cameron shouts, “YES! EXCELLENT!” Harley, c’mon, they’re rolling. Harley rolls in on her swivel chair and says, “I KNOW~!” She was just so moved! And while Mariah has so much on her plate, but why not give the people an “appetizer?” This Saturday Night Collision- Mariah stops Harley there and says she is NOT getting a world title shot. Harley says that’s fine, non-title, Mariah, Harley, and #HotGirlGraps!

Harley says c’mon, they’re both attractive. Sometimes. Mariah says that’s actually not a bad idea. Hot Girl Graps. And then Mariah will rip Harley’s head off. Oh, yes, then she will… Harley trails off and Mariah asks her what was that. Harley says Mariah will feel the… Just say it. FEEL THE WRATH!! Harley rolls away, Mariah composes herself, but will Mariah feel the wrath of Harley Cameron? Or will Harley understand why Mariah is the Woman From Hell?

BREAKING NEWS for Collision!

AEW is in Athens, Georgia when The Rated R Superstar takes on Big Bill 1v1, and the same for Dax Harwood with Chris Jericho! #RatedFTR already won in the Six Man Tag, will they tear down The Learning Tree one Branch at a time?

Backstage interview with Toni Storm.

AEW returns and Renee is with Toni, and says that was an unfortunate loss out there, and many were surprised she didn’t win. Toni is not surprised, though. She gave it her best, but clearly she’s “just not ready.” But it was an honor to be out there with those two, Kris really deserves this. The Casino Gauntlet is going to be amazing, but Toni just doesn’t feel ready for the big time. She’ll keep working hard, but it seems it can’t be #ToniTime all the time. Toni apologizes then heads out. Will the “new kid” find a way to regain some confidence in herself?

And now…

With the same theme he used for his epic return to NJPW on Sunday, The Best Bout Machine emerges from the shadows and into the spotlight! Clarksville is all fired up for Omega rising like a phoenix! Omega goes to the ring, grabs a mic, and the fans cheer “KENNY! KENNY!” “Welcome Back! Welcome Back!” Omega takes a moment to soak it all in, then says, “This isn’t making it any more easy, guys. But thank you. It was a little over a year ago I checked myself into a hospital, and I was given the bad news. I had something called diverticulitis.” The fans boo diverticulitis, and Omega nods.

Omega explains that diverticulitis took two feet of his intestines from him, and says that if he hadn’t checked himself in when he did, the doctor let him know that Kenny would’ve died. So for the past year, it has been a roller coaster ride. The fans cheer Omega on, and chant, “Never Give Up!” Omega says upon a successful surgery, he had two questions. One: How long was recovery going to be? Two: When could Omega get back in the ring? The fans cheer that! Omega’s doctor told him that Omega would be lucky to return to a normal way of life, let alone to the ring, let alone to the Kenny Omega he used to be.

Omega says being a pro-wrestler and doing what pro-wrestlers do, he of course pushed through, maybe pushed a little too hard. He ended up being in the hospital four more times, four weeks at a time, and he had to really ask himself: Is this really worth it? Can he even do it? The fans chant “YES! YES! YES!” Omega says he can’t lie, there was a moment when he felt like giving up was the safest option. The fans boo that idea, but Omega says once he considered that option, he realized… “What purpose do I even have? What purpose do I even have on this planet if I don’t have you people with me?”

The fans cheer again, and Omega says he tested his theory. He found his purpose in Tokyo, just like he found it here tonight! And that is, if he’s not in the ring in front of the people, giving them everything he has every single week he has, then he’s not living! If he’s not showing the world that Kenny Omega CAN be the best, CAN be the Wrestling God, then he is NOT living! So even though he can’t be the same Omega, even though he can’t do the things he used to, this NEW Omega, the one that isn’t concerned about money, isn’t concerned about power, isn’t concerned about revenge, THIS Kenny Omega can still prove-

Wait, is that Don Callis? Guess he’s also back from Japan… The fans boo as Callis goes to the ring, mic in hand, but Omega is wary of the Don Callis Family ambushing him. Callis says, “Well look who’s back from the dead!” Callis barely finishes that sentence before Omega rushes him at the ramp! Omega fires hands on Callis, and NOW the Family rushes out! Brian Cage & Lance Archer mug Omega, twist his legs, and then send him into railing! Cage then puts Omega back in the ring, and both Murder Machines get in, only for Omega to fire hands in return! The fans fire up but this is still 2v1! And then 3v1 as Kyle Fletcher joins in!

The fans boo but Kyle DECKS Omega! The Callis Family drags Omega up again, and then Cage throws a BODY SHOT!! Omega crumples to the mat, and Cage hauls Omega up! Cage reels Omega in, but WILL OSPREAY hurries out here! And he has a chair! Ospreay JAMS Archer, SMACKS him down, then slides into the ring! Kyle & Cage go running! The fans fire up as the Aerial Assassin saves The Cleaner, but wait! He takes aim! Omega sees Ospreay first, and Ospreay drops the chair. The fans lose their minds as after fighting tooth ‘n’ nail over a year ago, these two are oddly on the same side: against Don Callis!

As such, Ospreay and Omega nod, and they stand down. Will Omega and Ospreay put their differences aside long enough to tear down The Don Callis Family? But BREAKING NEWS for Maximum Carnage: Omega will face Brian Cage 1v1 for his first match back in AEW! Will the 2025 version of Kenny Omega still be better than the rest?

My Thoughts:

An awesome Dynamite here as one part go-home to Maximum Carnage, one part turning-the-corner from the New Year stuff, including WrestleDynasty. Ospreay VS Buddy was awesome as an opener, and partly just an excuse to keep Ospreay out of the third Men’s Casino Gauntlet since he’s undefeated in those. At the same time, it is an interesting move that he’d try and get Buddy to think about what Buddy can do on his own. And given the constant “Is he gone or isn’t he?” nature of the Malakai Black speculation, it feels like another badly done work-shoot from AEW all because Tony Khan can’t figure out that, uh, duh, he could just book the House for various singles titles.

It was even pointed out by AEW themselves that Buddy Matthews won that Fatal 4 Way at Full Gear in November, did diddly squat all December because he wasn’t in the Continental Classic, and now he’s back. I said it when the C2 field was announced and I’ll say it here: Why wasn’t Buddy in the tournament? As for the present, the House of Black doesn’t even need to break up, they just need to be booked for singles titles. Buddy could challenge Okada for the Continental Championship, or he could challenge Takeshita for the International Championship, and even if he doesn’t win, he’ll give those guys one hell of a match, and we all want to see it.

I don’t include the TNT Championship in that right now because clearly there is more building between Hurt Syndicate and the various other champions. Great promo from Syndicate and Private Party for them to set up a possible tag title scenario. Private Party’s friendship with Garcia should also inspire Hurt Syndicate actually recruiting another wrestler to give us a Six Man Tag, then we split off into the various title matches. I’ll only lightly touch on TK fumbling that recruitment story where MVP handed out the cards to only a few people, yet decided none of them were good enough to join up because TK ended up having other story ideas first.

Very good promo from Mariah May and Harley Cameron to set up their non-title match, which should really just be advertised as Title Eliminator since duh, if Harley were to miraculously beat Mariah, she’d basically be in line for a title match. But at the same time, we know Mariah is winning so why try and kayfabe Harley’s hopes? Plus, we finally get a Women’s Casino Gauntlet and the winner of that goes to Grand Slam: Australia with Mariah. Awesome Triple Threat as the main event match, and a great choice for Toni to not win. Kris will make a great leadoff wrestler like Jay White was in the Men’s Casino Gauntlet. Toni’s promo after was really good, too, maybe she’s taking the long route back to the title, perhaps being the challenger for Revolution.

And speaking of the Men’s Casino Gauntlet, it was great for White to lead, but I figured he wasn’t winning. Ricochet with the swerve entrance was hilarious. And very clever idea for Yuta to get in this match, perhaps teasing a Finger Poke of Doom type scenario. I’m surprised he went after Jarrett that hard so as to take him completely out of the running. Why not do that to White to paint White as the biggest threat to Moxley while also hyping up a 1v1 match between them? Hobbs winning is great, this is essentially a rematch from their IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match, and a good way to make it up to Hobbs for him getting hurt back then. However, there’s a very good chance The Death Riders work to screw Hobbs over so Moxley wins in his hometown.

MJF and Jarrett have a great promo to follow that up, and now we have our countdown for Jarrett. Jarrett VS MJF is obviously what’s happening next, that’ll be great stuff, and it can be used to help either guy get to the title. Omega had a great segment to close, great promo and then great brawl with the Callis Family. A little surprising that’s the feud we’re going with for Omega, but it does make sense when Callis is just that much of a scumbag. Omega and Ospreay being unlikely allies is good stuff, Omega VS Cage next week will be great, and I’m sure this will be a pretty good story going to Grand Slam: Australia and even to Revolution.

My Score: 9/10
