The Stone Pitbull and Mad Mikey are OUT of the running, but their battle is now about pride! Will Ishii still be the bottom of the block? Or will he take one last bite outta someone in the seventh round?

The bell rings and the two storm up and start chest bumping. Then they start throwing forearms! Fans rally up and Mikey knees low. Mikey tosses Ishii out, stomps and clubs him, Ishii stands up and Mikey throws a forearm. Ishii eggs Mikey on and Mikey eggs Ishii on. The forearms start flying again, and then Mikey CHOPS! Mikey whips, Ishii reverses and Mikey hits railing! But then he comes back to LARIAT Ishii down! Fans cheer, the ref wants this back in the ring, so Mikey puts Ishii in. Mikey rains down forearms, then drops a knee! Cover, ONE! Mikey keeps on Ishii with a neck wrench, but he also hooks Ishii’s face!

The ref reprimands, Mikey lets off, but then he BITES Ishii on the forehead! The ref counts, Mikey lets off and he brings Ishii up. Ishii throws a forearm, a CHOP, but then Mikey knees low. Mikey CLUBS Ishii against ropes, and CLUBS him again, but Ishii CHOPS back! Mikey CHOPS and Ishii drops to his knees! Mikey eggs Ishii on and brings him up, but Ishii blocks the suplex! Ishii tries to suplex but Mikey blocks! They fight for control, and Mikey throws another forearm! But Ishii suplexes after all! Fans fire up while both men are down. Ishii slaps Mikey around so Mikey stands right up! Mikey CHOPS Ishii! And forearms! And whips corner to corner! Ishii comes back to run Mikey over! Fans fire up as Ishii snarls and catches his breath. Ishii sits Mikey up to KICK him in the back! Mikey gets in Ishii’s face, and the forearms start flying again! Fans rally up as they go back and forth, and then Ishii gets the edge! But then Mikey SLAPS Ishii and makes him sit down!

Fans fire up as Mikey, some blood on his forehead, grins and storms over to Ishii. Mikey drags Ishii up, whips him to a corner, then runs, but into a boot! Mikey still swings but Ishii dodges the clothesline! Ishii runs back in, but into an elbow! Mikey runs in, Ishii gets around, ducks an elbow, but Mikey DDTS! Ishii gets spiked, and Mikey pushes him to a cover, TWO!! We hit five minutes and Mikey drags Ishii up. Mikey suplexes, and holds him up! Fans rally as Mikey holds Ishii up for TEN before the SLAM! Cover, TWO! Ishii is still in this but Mikey keeps his cool. Mikey drags Ishii up, fireman’s carries, but Ishii fights free!

Ishii ducks the elbow this time, and the lariat, but Mikey fights the back suplex! Mikey CLUBS Ishii, runs, but into a SAIDO! Fans rally up while both men are down! Ishii sits up first, he storms back to Mikey but Mikey throws a forearm! And another! But Ishii grits his teeth! Mikey throws a flurry but Ishii ROCKS him with just one! Mikey brings Ishii up, SUPER DUPER PLEX!! Mikey flounders to the cover, TWO!! Ishii is still in this and fans fire up again! Mikey looms over Ishii as fans rally and duel. Mikey runs, but Ishii dodges the sliding lariat! Mikey SWATS one lariat, but the DISCUS SOUTHPAW connects! Mikey ends up in a corner, Ishii runs in, but Mikey ELBOWS him away! Mikey goes up, TORNADO DDT! But Ishii rises?! Ishii runs in, into another fireman’s carry! DEATH VALLEY BOMB again, and then SLIDING LARIAT! Cover, TWO!! Ishii survives the double impact and fans are thunderous! Mikey grits his teeth and “throws the grenade.”

Both men are down again! Fans rally up and Ishii goes to the ropes. Ishii stands, runs in, SLIDING LARIAT! Cover, TWO!! But Ishii fires right up! Ishii suplexes, but Mikey fights free and wrenches! The bell rings and fans rally up as the two circle. They tie up, Tama headlocks, and Henare powers out. Tama ducks the haymaker to arm-drag, and arm-drag again! Fans cheer as Tama has the armlock. Henare fights up but Tama wrenches. Henare whips, Tama reverses and back drops! And OFF COMES THE VEST! Time to get serious already! Fans fire up and Tama stalks Henare. Tama CLUBS Henare, and CLUBS him again. Henare snarls and Tama throws forearms. Henare fireman’s carries! Tama fights free, dragon sleepers, but Henare snapmares free! Tama gets around and shoves Henare to a corner.

Tama runs in, but into an ELBOW! And then Henare goes up, FLYING CHUCK! Fans fire up and Henare snarls as he catches his breath. Henare storms up on Tama and brings him up to snapmare, and KICK in the back, then SENTON on the front! Tama writhes, but Henare goes to untie a buckle pad? Henare brings the top of the blue corner pad down, then he ROCKS Tama with a body shot! Henare drags Tama up, HEADBUTTS him to the corner, and then scoops to wedge Tama into the corner! The ref reprimands but Henare starts throwing KNEE after KNEE into Tama’s ribs! The ref gets Henare to back off, only for Henare to run in and KNEE Tama down!

Fans fire up for the intensity and Henare covers. TWO, and Henare keeps his cool. Henare KNEES Tama in the side, and again, and again! Fans rally up, Henare looms over Tama, and then he drags Tama around, GROUND COBRA TWIST! Tama endures, reaches out, and fans rally up. Tama fights around, crawls forward with his free arm, and gets the ROPEBREAK! Fans cheer and Henare lets go reluctantly. Henare eggs Tama on but Tama throws body shots! Henare nods, and then he CLUBS Tama down! Tama throws more shots, but Henare DECKS Tama! We pass five minutes as Tama fires more shots!

Tama fires forearms but Henare ELBOWS Tama! Henare runs, but into a DROPKICK! Fans fire up as both men are down! Henare crawls to ropes and fans rally up. Tama runs in to ELBOW Henare! And then he ELBOWS Henare again! Tama whips Henare back in to ELBOW again! Tama fires off fast hands in the corner but the ref counts. Tama whips, but Henare reverses! Tama comes back to LARIAT Henare down! Fans rally up with Tama and he watches Henare go to another corner. Tama runs in to STINGER SPLASH! Tama then clinches, to EXPLODER! Fans fire up and Tama covers, TWO!

Henare is still in this but Tama stays focused. Tama sits Henare up to CLUB away on Henare’s chest! Tama storms up on Henare, drags him back up, and Tama fires forearms! Henare just scowls at him! Tama fires another forearm, Henare gives it back, and now they go back and forth! Fans fire up as they brawl, and Tatma gets the edge with fast hands! But Henare ELBOW JABS! Tama ENZIGURIS! Tama runs in to scoop, fireman’s carry, S R C! Fans fire up and Tama staggers up. Tama goes to the red corner, climbs up top, but Henare SHINING WIZARDS Tama off the corner! Tama falls to the floor!

Henare shakes out the stars and grits his teeth while fans rally up. Henare goes out, drags Tama up, and he puts Tama in. Tama rises, and Henare KICKS him in the chest! Fans rally, Tama sits up again, and Henare KICKS him back down! Henare growls, fans rally up more, and Tama stands. Henare spins to WHEEL KICK! And then PENALTY KICK! Cover, TWO! Tama is still in this so Henare brings his kneepads down. Henare runs in, but into a BOOT! Tama runs in, into a BERSERKER BOMB! Cover, TWO!! Henare is furious but the fans fire up as we pass 10 minutes. Henare aims from the corner and he waits on Tama!

Tama rises, Henare runs in, but Tama turns Rampage into a SATELLITE DDT! Cover, TWO!! Henare survives but Tama hurries to dragon sleeper, and TONGAN TWIST! Tama then goes to a corner! Tama climbs up, takes aim, and SUPREME FLOW!! Cover, TWO!! Henare survives but Tama pounds the mat. Fans clap along, Henare rises, and Tama runs in, but Henare denies the Gun Stun to pop-up SAMOAN DROP! Fans fire up and Henare roars! And then, ULTIMA NELSON!! Tama flails, reaches out, but Henare pushes on the hold! Tama is still holding on as the fans rally up even harder! Tama powers up, spins out of the nelson, and GUN STUNS!!! But both men are down! Tama has to crawl to the cover, TWO!!! Henare survives but Tama is too tired to be upset! Tama and Henare stir, Tama takes aim again, but Henare stops the Gun Stun to spin and HEADBUTT!

Tama comes back to GUN- NO!! Henare blocks again, and full nelson! But Tama switches, goes for his own full nelson, but Henare powers out! Tama GUN- URENAGE!! Henare aims from the corner runs in, RAMPAGE!! But he won’t end it there! Henare drags Tama up, STREETS OF- NO, Tama slips free to SUPERMAN PUNCH!! Down goes Henare!! Tama drags Henare up, underhooks, DIVE SHACK DRIVER!! Cover, Tama wins!!

The Mad King and the Rebel both hold their fate in their hands! It’s the classic “win and you’re in,” but then who suffers bitter defeat right at the goal line?

Eddie holds up his NJPW Strong Openweight Championship, Finlay holds up his NEVER Openweight Championship, and perhaps this G1 match has more at stake than the quarterfinals. The titles are put aside and fans rally up for Eddie even before the bell. The bell rings and the two circle. They approach, tie up, and Finlay pushes Eddie back. Eddie digs in his heels, and he starts pushing Finlay back. Finlay digs in his heels, he pushes Eddie back and has him on ropes, but then Eddie turns that around. The two break quickly and fans applaud. The two reset, circle again, and tie back up.

They’re in a deadlock as they fight for leverage, but Finlay puts Eddie on ropes. Red Shoes calls for the break, Finlay lets off slowly, and then CHOPS! Eddie TACKLES Finlay and fires off fists! Fans fire up but Gedo protests. Finlay gets away but Eddie pursues! Eddie CHOPS Finlay and fans “WOO~!” Eddie whips Finlay into railing! Finlay crawls on his knees and Eddie pursues as fans fire up more. Eddie CHOPS and Finlay sits down. Red Shoes has Eddie stop and tells him to get in the ring. Eddie asks why. Eddie then whips Finlay into more railing, and Finlay falls in front of Japanese commentary.

Red Shoes reprimands, Eddie says okay, he’ll get Finlay in the ring. Finlay is crawling into No Man’s Land so Eddie pursues. Eddie drags Finlay up, Finlay tries to ram Eddie but Eddie smothers that. Eddie then brings Finlay around to suplex, but Finlay fights it! Finlay snap suplexes Eddie to the floor! Finlay goes into the ring, he wants the ring count! Red Shoes starts the count, Eddie grits his teeth and sits up at 7 of 20. Eddie slides in at 9 and fans cheer, but Finlay stomps away at the ropes! Finlay drags Eddie up, throws him out, then goes out after him! Finlay RAMS Eddie into railing, and CLUBS away on him!

Finlay CLAWS at Eddie’s face against railing! Finlay lets off as Red Shoes reprimands, and Finlay POSTS Eddie! Finlay Too Sweets with Gedo then slides into the ring. The ring count returns, Eddie grits his teeth and shakes out the stars. He sits up at 7, stands at 11 and slides in, but Finlay stomps away on him again! Finlay fires a forearm but Eddie CHOPS! And CHOPS! And CHOPS! Finlay staggers to a corner, Eddie brings him up to whip corner to corner. Finlay reverses and Eddie hits buckles hard! Finlay drags Eddie up to HIP DROP him down! Eddie writhes, and Finlay drops an elbow on Eddie’s back!

We pass five minutes as Finlay drags Eddie up to UPPERCUT! Finlay then scoops Eddie for a BACKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Eddie hangs tough but Finlay doesn’t fret. Fans rally but Finlay drags Eddie into a CAMEL CLUTCH! Eddie endures, fans rally, and Gedo shouts at Eddie to just give up already! Eddie refuses, and he powers his way to the ROPEBREAK! Finlay pulls on the hold, but lets off as Red Shoes counts 4. Eddie sputters, Finlay brings him up and around. Eddie CHOPS back! And CHOPS again! And then clinches, but Finlay fights it to a DDT! Finlay sits Eddie up, runs, but Eddie dodges the blindsider to LARIAT!

Fans fire up as Eddie grits his teeth. Finlay crawls to a corner, Eddie runs in and clotheslines! Fans fire up and Eddie fires off the MACHINE GUN CHOPS! And he reloads, but Finlay drops already! So Eddie just stands Finlay up and gives more MACHINE GUN CHOPS! Eddie then brings Finlay up. Finlay fights the clinch again, but Eddie still hits an EXPLODER! Fans fire up and Eddie roars! Eddie stretches out his back, storms up to Finlay, and SAIDO, but Finlay CROSSBODIES! Cover, TWO! Finlay swings, but Eddie ducks to SAIDO! Cover, TWO!! Finlay survives, crawls to the ropes, and Eddie storms up.

Eddie reels Finlay in but Finlay fights the half nelson to half nelson, and IRISH CURSE BACKBREAKER! Fans fire up and Eddie crawls to a corner. Finlay runs in to UPPERCUT! And LARIAT! And IRISH CURSE BACKBREAKER again!! Cover, TWO!! Eddie survives but Finlay keeps his cool. We pass 10 minutes, Finlay runs and BLINDSIDERS!! Cover, TWO!! Fans fire up as Eddie isn’t done yet! But Finlay brings down his kneepad and slashes his throat! Finlay stands Eddie up, but Eddie CHOPS him! Eddie goes to a corner, BOOTS Finlay, ELBOWS him, then goes up the corner. But Finlay SHOVES Eddie down to the floor!

Finlay goes out, drags Eddie up to a fireman’s carry, and POSTS him! Eddie falls in a heap and fans rally up. Finlay says Eddie’s got nothing, and Red Shoes checks on him. Finlay slides into the ring and wants the ring count. Red Shoes starts the count, Eddie is still dazed and down at 10 of 20. Eddie slowly sits up at 15, and realizes where he is! He stands at 18, and jumps in at 19! Gedo is furious but Finlay drags Eddie up. Finlay runs, but Eddie gest around! HALF ‘N’ HALF! Then URAKEN!! Cover, TWO!! Finlay survives but Eddie fires up! Fans fire up but Eddie then drops back down, his body all banged up!

Eddie forces himself back up, and he brings the straps down! Finlay sputters, Gedo freaks out, and Eddie storms over to Finlay. Eddie stands Finlay up, scoops, but Finlay fights! Eddie fights the suplex to CHOP! And URAKEN!! And then the scoop, but Finlay fights it! They fight for control, each wanting to suplex! Finlay throws body shots, but then Eddie URAKENS again!! That’s the trilogy! And then NORTHERN LIGHTS BOMB!! But Eddie can’t cover! Fans are thunderous as Eddie crawls over to Finlay, manages the cover, ROPEBREAK!!! Finlay survives by a literal foot and Eddie can’t believe it!

Fans fire up with Eddie as he vows to end this. Eddie drags Finlay up but Finlay suplexes!! INTO OBLIVION!! But now Finlay can’t make the cover!! Gedo shouts at Finlay, and we pass 15 minutes! Both men crawl to each other, and they start throwing forearms! Eddie HEADBUTTS, but Finlay HEADBUTTS in return! Eddie SLAPS, Finlay SLAPS, it turns into a SLAP fight! Fans fire up but Finlay gets the edge! Eddie SLAPS right back! And URA- NO, Finlay blocks! ROLLING ELBOW! And ROLLING ELBOW! Finlay ducks another Uraken to ROLLING ELBOW! Finlay runs to SPEAR!! Cover, TWO!!!

Fans are thunderous as Eddie survives, but Finlay vows to end this! INTO OBLIVION!!!! Cover, Finlay wins!!

G1 Climax 33, C Block: Shingo Takagi VS EVIL w/ Dick Togo!

The Rampaging Dragon and the King of Darkness have a lot of beef between them, and this will be just another chapter in their ongoing story. If Takagi wins, he moves on, plain and simple! But if Evil can manage even just a draw, Darkness Falls on the quarterfinals! Who will move on towards the Climax?

But of course Evil attacks before the bell! Fans boo and Red Shoes reprimands, but Evil just CHOKES Takagi with his House of Torture T-shirt! Evil lets off, the bell rings, and Evil covers, TWO! Evil is annoyed with Red Shoes already, and the fans rally up for “TA-KA-GI!” Evil kicks Takagi around, but Takagi gets up to elbow, knee and headlock! Evil pulls hair! Evil headlocks but Takagi powers out. Evil RAMS Takagi, Takagi rebounds to run Evil over! Fans fire up but Evil goes to a corner. Takagi runs in but blocks a boot to clothesline! Fans fire up with Takagi and he fires off forearm after forearm, then JAB after JAB, and then a CHOP!

Fans fire up, Dick protests but Takagi CLUBS Evil down! Takagi has Evil on the ropes, then KNEES him low! Red Shoes reprimands but Takagi knees low again! Takagi whips to KNEE Evil, runs, but Dick is there! Takagi stops and tells Dick to bug off, but Evil throws Takagi out! Evil brings Takagi around, but Takagi fights. Evil still shoves Takagi, but Takagi braces himself! Abe-san is saved! Fans cheer, and Takagi storms after Evil. Evil knocks Takagi off the apron! Takagi catches himself again, but then Evil goes out to RAM Takagi into the timekeeper! Abe-san suffers after all! Fans boo but Evil grabs the mic to talk trash on Takagi.

Evil then goes after Takagi with clippers! Takagi fights Evil off, but Evil kicks low! Evil gives Dick the clippers back and then Evil POSTS Takagi! Evil slides into the ring but fans rally for Takagi. Takagi rises, there’s no ring count since Abe-san is still composing himself, and Takagi slides in. Evil kicks and throws Takagi back out! Dick is there for a cheap shot! Dick puts Takagi in, fans boo, but Red Shoes doesn’t count after all the harassment. Fans cheer and Evil is furious! Evil tells Red Shoes to do his job already! Evil goes back to Takagi, kicks him around, then stands Takagi up to CHOP! Takagi shakes his head and grits his teeth!

Evil CHOPS again! Takagi headbutts the buckle pad! Fans fire up and Takagi eggs Evil on. Evil puts some stank on his feint to then claw Takagi’s eyes! Red Shoes reprimands, Evil runs, into an ELBOW! JAB! YUKON feint to a DDT! Fans fire up as both men are down and we pass five minutes. Takagi rises, he aims from a corner, and he runs in to r un Evil over! Then he scoop SLAMS, and SENTONS! Takagi wags his finger, and he brings Evil up for a BIG suplex! Cover, TWO! Takagi looks around, and he says IT’S- NO, Evil CLOBBERS Takagi from behind! Fans boo as Evil denies Takagi his time!

Evil stands on Takagi’s head, tells him off, then drags him up. Takagi kicks, Evil blocks, and Evil hands it to Red Shoes! But Takagi blocks Evil’s kick! Takagi brushes Red Shoes aside, and Gory Especials to NOSHIGAMI! Fans fire up, and Takagi sits Evil up, to SLIDING LARIAT! And now IT’S TIME! Fans fire up with Takagi but he spots Yujiro Takahashi and Sho making their way out. The House of Torture is always around, but fans tell them to go home. Takagi stomps Evil while warning the House boys. Takagi drags Evil up but Evil fights the lift! Takagi CLUBS Evil and Evil goes to the corner!

Takagi runs in, Evil BOOTS him away! Dick is untying the buckle pad behind Evil’s back! Takagi runs in, and TADA! Evil takes the buckle pad away and Takagi hits buckles! Takagi falls and fans boo but Evil grins. Fans rally up behind Takagi but Evil runs in to clothesline him against buckles! And then FISHERMAN BUSTER! Cover, TWO! Evil is frustrated but the fans continue to rally. Evil TOSSES Takagi, distracts Red Shoes, and the House boys stomp away on Takagi! Fans boo, Yujiro puts Takagi in for Evil, and Evil steps through for the SHARPSHOOTER! Takagi endures, and Red Shoes tells the House boys to back off!

Takagi endures, fights his way forward, and reaches out to the ROPEBREAK! Evil holds until Red Shoes counts 4. Fans boo but Evil drags Takagi back up. We pass 10 minutes as Evil fireman’s carries, and DARKNESS FALLS! Cover, TWO!! Takagi is still in this but Evil keeps his cool. Evil slashes his throat, vowing to end this. Evil drags Takagi up, spins Takagi around, but Takagi fights the STO! Takagi gets around, Evil fights the half nelson, and Yujiro distracts Red Shoes! Dick gets in, but Takagi BOOTS him away! Takagi then lifts Evil, and he uses Dick in stealing MAGIC KILLER!! Fans fire up as the plan backfires!

Takagi then throws Dick into Yujiro and they both fall out of the ring! Sho gets up but Takagi BLASTS him down! Fans are thunderous as Takagi then aims from a corner. Evil rises, Takagi runs in, PUMPING BOMBER!! Fans fire up more as Takagi drags Evil back up, pump handles, but Evil slips free! Takagi elbows, wrenches, ducks Evil’s lariat, to pump handle and MADE IN JAPAN!! Cover, TWO!! Evil survives and Takagi is surprised! Fans rally, Takagi refocuses and he shouts “OI! OI! OI!” Fans echo the “OI! OI! OI!” and Takagi drags Evil up. Takagi pump handles, but Evil fights and pulls hair!

Red Shoes reprimands, but Takagi LARIATS Evil! Evil stays up, but Takagi brings him around for boxing elbows! Fans fire up with every shot, and then Takagi swings, but Evil ducks! Evil shoves Takagi into bare buckles! But Takagi comes back, only for Evil to catch him! EVERYTHING- NO, Takagi fights the STO to the LAST OF THE DRAGONS!!! But Yujiro drags Red Shoes out! Dick counts the pin, and Yujiro rings the bell! They trick Takagi into thinking he won, which technically he did! But now Takagi grabs Dick, only for Sho & Yujiro to attack! Takagi fights back on the House boys, and he HEADBUTTS away on Sho!

Takagi drags Sho up but Dick uses the SPOILER CHOKER!! Takagi fades, but here comes LIJ!! Yota Tsuji & Bushi rush in! But Sho and Yujiro knock them off the apron! And send them into railing! Takagi is down and out and Dick finally lets him go. Dick then sets Takagi up for Yujiro, PIMP CANE SHOT! Sho has a chair, he gives Takagi a HEADSHOT!! The chair is busted and Sho drags Takagi up! SHOCK ARROW!! We hit 15 minutes and Dick shoves Red Shoes back into the ring! But here comes HIROMU!! Hiromu drags Red Shoes back out to deny Evil! Fans are thunderous as the Timebomb laughs at Evil!

Sho gets in, Hiromu SUPERKICKS him! Yujiro runs back in, PIMP CANE SHOT! Bushi gives Yujiro the MIST! Dick DECKS Bushi, and then intercepts Tsuji! Dick whips Tsuji into bare buckles! Dick stomps away on Takagi, he and Evil double whip! Takagi holds the ropes, then comes back, DOUBLE PUMPING BOMBER!! Tsuji goes up!? Bushi holds Sho and Yujiro in place for a GENE-SAULT!! Takagi runs in at Evil, PUMPING BOMBER!!! Fans are thunderous and Takagi calls for Red Shoes! Bushi helps Red Shoes in and Takagi hauls Evil up! LAST- NO, Evil slips free to EVERY- NO, Takagi shoves, ELBOWS! JABS! YUKON-

Evil blocks, SWATs, and LARIATS! But they both run in, DOUBLE LARIATS! JAB! HEADBUTT!! Takagi fires up and we hit the three minute warning! Takagi drags Evil up but he’s dead weight! Takagi powers up to stand Evil up, but Evil shoves Red Shoes! LOW BLOW!!! Evil then reels Takagi in, EVERYTHING IS EVIL!!!! Cover, EVIL WINS!!

Winner: Evil, by pinfall (gains 2 points; Takagi earns 0)

The worst case scenario just happened! Evil cheats his way into the quarterfinals! How will Takagi and Los Ingobernables de Japon ever live this down?

After Evil and the House boys have regrouped, Evil gets the mic to say, “OI, Shingo Takagi! Too bad for you!” Now it’s time for that haircut!! Fans boo as Dick brings the clippers out and hands them back to Evil! But then LIJ rushes back in to fight them off! LIJ gets Takagi out of there, but the real damage has already been done. Evil tells off the LIJ “bastards,” and promises Takagi that whenever they face off again, he’s getting shaved bald! LIJ leaves and Evil tells the fans that this was the expected result. And he says that Takagi just learned why Evil’s “Mr. G1!”

Now Evil calls out Sanada! Evil wants the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion to know he’s going to learn his place after facing his former Heavyweight Tag Team Championship partner! Fans boo as the House boys light it up, but will Darkness Fall on all the G1 now?

My Thoughts:

Another great night for the NJPW and G1 Climax, but I guess the C Block is gonna be the Heel block now. Really good match from Ishii and Mikey that didn’t really affect anything, but good win for Ishii. Tama has a great match with Henare and gets a great win, but he doesn’t win out here with so many others ahead of him. Awesome match from Eddie VS Finlay that was a close one, but Finlay making it through here makes sense. Eddie still has the NJPW Strong Openweight title, he can focus on NJPW Strong tapings, and also go back to AEW/ROH for a stretch.

Evil VS Takagi was a highly overbooked but still pretty fun main event. Evil winning out is bunk but at this rate, there weren’t going to be that many Heels in the quarterfinals. Fans love Sanada and Hikuleo, they love Okada and Ospreay, and they’ll love the various options in D Block like Naito, Tanahashi, ZSJ and Cobb. So there need to be people fans will boo and hate on no matter what, and that is why both Finlay and Evil advance. Bullet Club in all its forms is firmly Heel, Finlay and Evil will get the heat as they take on (and surely cheat) all the others.
