AEW TNT Championship: Christian Cage w/ The Patriarchy VS Dustin Rhodes!

Captain Charisma has his “sons,” Nick Wayne and Killswitch/Luchasaurus by his side, ready to defend against the son of the American Dream. Will Christian continue to be a winning role model? Or will we have a Natural as the Face of TNT?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see who is truly the living legend here!

The bell rings and Dustin storms up, but Christian uses ropes as defense. Fans boo and Dustin backs off, but Christian steps out of the corner. Dustin and Christian circle, tie up, and go around. Fans chant “Christian Sucks!” as he and Dustin go along ropes. The ref counts, Dustin lets off slowly and Christian again uses ropes as defense. The two reset, the fans rally up and Dustin again circles with Christian. They tie up, Dustin powers Christian back, but Christian turns things around. They go along ropes again, end up in a corner, and the ref counts again. Dustin lets off and he stares Christian down.

Christian adjusts his turtleneck as things reset again. Christian and Dustin feel things out, the fans rally up, and then Christian kicks low! Fans boo but Christian ROCKS Dustin with uppercuts, then stomps away! The ref counts as Christian punches away at the ropes. Christian lets off to whip, but Dustin whips Christian away and SNAP POWERSLAMS! Cover, TWO! Christian bails out, fans boo, but Christian trips Dustin to pull him into the corner! But Dustin YANKS Christian into the post first! Dustin goes out to throw Christian into railing, then CHOPS him! Dustin brings Christian over to SMACK off the desk!

Fans fire up as Dustin CLAWS Christian’s back, throws hands, and then follows him along the way. The ref has Luchasaurus stay back, and Dustin whips Christian into steel steps! Christian takes a tumble, Dustin goes up the steps to LEAPING LARIAT! Fans fire up and Dustin puts Christian in the ring. Dustin stands Christian up and climbs in the corner, and he rains down fists! Fans count along, Dustin goes al the way to nine before he takes a deep breath, and says “SUCK IT!” before TEN! Dustin then brings Christian around, but Christian throws body shots. Christian goes up the corner but Dustin UPPERCUTS!

Dustin climbs up from the outside, and he aims for the floor! Christian throws body shots, then HOTSHOTS Dustin off the crossbar! Dustin falls to the floor, Christian climbs back up, and he SUPER CROSSBODIES! Down goes Dustin and the fans fire up! Christian crawls his way back to ringside while Dynamite goes picture in picture.

The ref checks Dustin but he’s somehow okay to continue. Christian leaves Dustin to the count, and Nick wants the count to go faster. The ref keeps the count fair, but Dustin is still down past 5 of 10. Dustin rises at 7, hobbles his way over at 8, and slides in at 9, only for Christian to stomp away on him! Christian stands on Dustin, lets off as the ref counts, and Christian taunts those taunting him. Christian storms back up on Dustin to CLUB him, and Dustin goes to ropes. Christian CLUBS him again, but Dustin hits back! Christian kicks low and CLUBS Dustin down! Christian then turns Dustin for a NECKBREAKER! Cover, TWO!

The fans fire up, Dustin gest space, but Christian gets loose to BOOT back! Christian runs up, but Dustin UPPERCUTS the Spear away! Then he hops on, CODE RED! Cover, TWO!! Christian hurries outside, and he grabs the title belt! Christian storms in, the ref tells him no. The belt is confiscated, Christian still storms up on Dustin, but Dustin catches him to a cradle! The ref is too busy handing the belt over, and Nick Wayne tips the cradle in Christian’s favor! Fans boo but now the ref sees the cover! TWO!!! Dustin survives and Nick is furious! Christian SLAPS Dustin around and talks trash on him!

Christian drags Dustin up, puts him in a corner and fires hands! Dustin fires back! Fans fire up as Dustin ROCKS Christian again and again! Dustin backs Christian down to another corner, ROCKS him again, then BULL- NO, Christian powers out this time! And ELBOWS him! Christian goes up, Dustin trips him up! Christian’s back in position and the fans are thunderous! Dustin scares Nick off, the ref reprimands Nick, and that allows for SHATTERED DREAMS!! Fans fire up as Dustin gets away with it, and he hoists Christian up top! Dustin climbs after Christian, to SUPERPLEX!!

But that’s not all, as Dustin dragon sleepers! CROSS RHODES!!! Dustin covers, TWO?!?! Christian survives and fans can’t believe it! Nick then trips up Dustin! Dustin storms out after Nick, but Luchasaurus is there! Luchasaurus choke grips, but Dustin kicks him low! Christian distracts the ref so that Nick can hit SUPER WAYNE’S WORLD, but get caught! Dustin gives Nick a DESTROYER to the floor!! Dustin hurries back in, Christian is working on a buckle pad but the ref tells him to stop. Dustin runs in, Christian dodges and sends Dustin into the post! Christian hurries to aim from the other corner, and Dustin staggers around.

Dustin turns, into the SPEAR!! Christian then drags Dustin up, chicken wings and turns him around, KILLSWITCH!! Cover, TWO?!?! Dustin shocks everyone, most of all Christian! Those were Christian’s best shots, what is it going to take now?! Christian shouts at Dustin, but Dustin flips Christian off! Christian chicken wings and turns again, KILLSWITCH AGAIN!! Cover, Christian wins!

Winner: Christian Cage, by pinfall (still AEW TNT Champion)

Dustin was defiant to the end, but it wasn’t enough to tear down Captain Charisma! What will it take for Dustin to hold singles gold in AEW? As for Christian, with his “family” always watching his back, what will it take for someone to take that title away from him?

Backstage interview with Swerve Strickland.

Renee Paquette is with The Realest, and says two weeks ago, he made it known he has his sights set on the AEW World Championship. So then we can only assume that he will have his eyes on tonight’s main event, Samoa Joe VS Hook. Swerve chuckles and says he has his eyes everywhere. He’d be foolish not to pay attention to the main event. So whether it is Joe or Hook that comes out as champion, it doesn’t matter. Swerve’s been laser focused on that world title. He was preoccupied with the Continental Classic, and no he didn’t win, but out of everyone that came out of it, who are we talking about the most?

Swerve is on everyone’s mind, and that makes him the most dangerous man coming after the most coveted prize in the industry. Renee notes another man who wants that prize is Hangman Page. Swerve chuckles again. Like he said, he’s got eyes everywhere. Hangman is an impeccable wrestler, he was an impeccable champion. Swerve watched Hangman defeat Kenny Omega, Bryan Danielson, and even Jon Moxley in as Texas Deathmatch. Even recently, Hangman ran through Roderick Strong, JD Drake and Claudio Castagnoli. Hell, if God opened up the clouds above and everyone was challenged to face him, Swerve feels Hangman has a chance.

But he still couldn’t beat Swerve. Swerve has won twice now, has no reason to do it again, and has no one left to prove it to. Whose house? Swerve’s House. But who will Swerve be stepping to at the end of the night?

Backstage interview with Chris Jericho.

Renee is now with The Ocho to talk about Battle of the Belts 9, and how the AEW World Tag Team Championships slipped past him and Sammy Guevara. Sammy is understandably not here after his wild drop from the truss, but what can Jericho say about where Le Sex Gods go from here? Jericho wouldn’t say those titles slipped past them. They were ripped away by the Don Callis Family! “Takeshita, Hobbs, YOU caused us to lose to Big Bill & Ricky Starks! YOU caused Sammy Guevara to be injured so he’s not here tonight! YOU took what was rightfully ours! And Takeshita, you hit me with a kendo stick to cause me to get powerbombed through a table!”

So what is Jericho gonna do now for revenge? Barbed wire baseball bat? Pane of glass? Pizza cutter? Jericho doesn’t know, but he does know this. Jericho beat Takeshita in Tokyo, but that match doesn’t mean as much anymore. Now Jericho will SEEK & DESTROY Takeshita’s ass! Matt Sydal hurries over to say Jericho is losing it. Losing it over this loss? That’s not the Jericho that Sydal knows. To get over this loss, Jericho has to get back in that ring and beat someone who beat him in the past, like Sydal. Oh, Sydal wants a match? Well, Jericho does respect Sydal. Some would even say he was born to do this.

Maybe Sydal’s right, Jericho does need a match. A match on Rampage, right here in North Charleston, South Carolina! But Jericho must warn Sydal: he has a lot of pent up aggression, so be careful what you wish for. See you on Friday. Jericho takes his leave, but will accepting this challenge be more like falling into a trap?

Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta w/ Chuck Taylor VS Penta El Zero Miedo & Komander w/ Rey Fenix & Alex Abrahantes!

Best Friends are returning to full power now that the Kentucky Gentleman is once again ringside with them, but the same can be said now that the Immortal Firebird is back with his amigos! Will Freshly Squeezed & #JustTrent get a big win to celebrate? Or will Penta Y Komander show they both have #CeroMiedo?

The teams sort out and Cassidy starts against Penta. They circle, the fans rally up, and the fans duel, “CERO! MIEDO!” “FRESHLY SQUEEZED!” Penta tells Cassidy to listen: CERO! MIEDO! Then he pie faces Cassidy! Cassidy takes his sunglasses off, hands them to the ref, and puts his hands up. But Penta stops him, to say CERO! MIEDO! Another pie face and Cassidy is annoyed. Trent reaches out, Cassidy cools off, and he puts his hands up again. Penta wrenches an arm to KICK a leg! Uno! KICK! Dos! But Cassidy avoids tres to arm-drag! Penta arm-drags! Cassidy arm-drags again, then avoids Penta!

Trent storms up on Komander, brings him up again, and then CLUBS him down! Trent refreshes the ring count, drags Komander up, and whips him hard into railing again! Trent keeps cool, tags in Cassidy, and they get Komander up. They double suplex high and hard! Cassidy covers, TWO! Cassidy drags Komander over, to then SPLASH! Cover, TWO! Cassidy puts his hands up, to put them in his pockets! Cassidy fires “devastating” kicks on Komander, then turns them into stomps! Cassidy then “runs” to basement dropkick! Cover, TWO! Cassidy drags Komander up, Komander throws body shots, but Cassidy ROCKS him! Tag to Trent, and Trent BLASTS Penta! Trent & Cassidy double whip, Komander goes up and over and to a corner while Dynamite returns to single picture!

Cassidy runs in, but into a BOOT! Trent ROCKS Komander, hoists him up top, then CLUBS him on the back! Trent puts Komander in the Tree of Woe, Cassidy runs in, but Komander sits up to avoid the basement dropkick! Komander gets free, dodges Trent then tilt-o-whirls to RANA Trent up and out! Fans fire up as Komander drags himself back up. Cassidy hurries in to stop Komander but Komander kicks and kicks and KICKS Cassidy away! Hot tag to Penta! Fans fire up as Penta ducks ‘n’ dodges to SLINGBLADE! And SLINGBLADE again! Trent returns, Penta blocks the kick to hand it to Cassidy, then SUPERKICKS Trent!

Penta dodges Cassidy, half nelson and pump handle! Komander builds speed to FLY out onto Trent! Then MADE IN JAPAN!! Cover, TWO!! Cassidy survives and the fans fire up! Penta is frustrated but he hears the fans chant “CERO! MIEDO!” and “LUCHA! LUCHA!” Komander tags in, Penta reels Cassidy in, “CERO! MIEDO!” But Trent trips Komander! Cassidy wrenches out, dodges Penta, and tilt-o-whirls to DDT! Hot tag to Trent and Trent hurries after Komander. Trent pie faces Komander around, then fires forearms! The ref counts as they’re in the ropes, but Trent keeps firing off! The ref has to back Trent down!

Trent cools off, but Komander SLAPS! Trent kicks low, reels Komander in, and then POEWR- NO, Komander slips free! Trent whips, Komander reverses and MOUSE TRAP! TWO!! Trent gets up, but Komander wrangles Trent again, ghost pin!! TWO!! Trent CHOPS Komander, Penta sneaks a tag, and Trent runs up, into the GAMANGIRI! Komander sets up and Penta uses him as a step, for a DESTROYER on Trent! Komander goes up, Penta steadies the ropes for him, and Komander tightrope walk SPRINGBOARD SPLASHES!! Cover, CASSIDY BREAKS IT! Fans fire up again! Chuck coaches Best Friends, Fenix & Alex coach los luchadores.

Cassidy throws Penta out, ducks Komander’s roundhouse but not Komander’s HEEL KICK! Komander then hurries to another corner and fans fire up as he climbs! Komander PHOENIX- NO, he has to bail out as Trent moves! And then Trent BUSAIKU KNEES! Trent fires up, but Penta SUPERKICKS him first! Penta says CERO! MIEDO! Penta runs, but Cassidy moves Trent aside! Cassidy catches Penta to a BEACH BREAK! Off comes the elbow pad, for the ORANGE PUNCH!! Trent hurries to Alabama Lift, and tucks in for the CRUNCHY!! Cover, Best Friends win!

Winners: Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta, by pinfall

In their first time being 2v2 together, Cassidy & Trent make it work! And then Chuck gets in the ring so they can- be interrupted by The Undisputed Kingdom’s Roderick Strong, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett… NOT what the people wanted. But with The Undisputed Kingdom coming for all the gold they can get, we already know why they’re here. They flank the ring, eyes on the AEW International Championship. Best Friends still stand their ground, but Roddy gets a mic to tell Cassidy, “I know you’ve heard me say it to the fans. I know you’ve heard me say it to other people. But I came out here to say it to your face. So take off your glasses and look me in the eyes.”

Fans boo but Roddy tells “ORAAANGE! Take your glasses off now!” Cassidy shoves Roddy instead! Roddy says they could end him right here and now, but they aren’t going to. That’s because Cassidy has been “a fighting champion, willing to take on anyone at any time, but yet tonight, you decide to wrestle in a tag match and not defend the AEW International title. But why? Is it all becoming too much? Are you afraid you have nothing left in the tank to keep it? Or is it because it belongs to me? And I’m coming for it, and you can’t face it.” Roddy says that title DOES belong to him, he IS coming for it, and he is here to make Cassidy face it!

Fans tell Roddy to STFU but he tells THEM to shut up! He’s telling Cassidy something! Cassidy says okay, okay, okay. Roddy’s got it, let’s do it here and now! Fans fire up, Roddy throws his shirt off, but then says no, not now. Fans boo but Roddy tells Cassidy that Cassidy will have to wait until March 3rd, live on PPV at Revolution! Because Roddy wants Cassidy these next six weeks to live with that fact, to accept it, and to wake up every day knowing- Fans call Roddy an A-hole! Roddy tells them to shut up! Roddy wants Cassidy to know every day until then, he is just keeping that title warm for Roddy.

The Undisputed Kingdom takes their leave, but will they be adding one more title to the collection soon enough? Or will Cassidy make Roddy’s challenge into just whatever?

Backstage interview with Hangman Page.

Renee is with the Cowboy now for his scheduled interview. And she notes Hangman recently said having a title around his waist has not always been his main focus, but here in 2024, he has made that the exact thing he’s honed in on. What is the reason for this change? Hangman says if you think back on the past five years, “you will not find another soul on this planet who cared more about the AEW World Championship than I have. Who treated it with reverence. Who needed it.” But what Hangman has realized about himself is that he wanted to win the title.

But in 2024, not only does he want to win it, not only does he need to win it, he will hold it, make it his, put his name back on it, and he will keep it there for as long as he can. Renee brings up how Swerve also wants the title, and how he had some choice words for Hangman, namely that Hangman just can’t beat him. Hangman says Swerve sure thinks about him a lot. Hangman doesn’t really think about Swerve at all. But if Swerve said Hangman can’t beat him, then Hangman will tell Swerve that it doesn’t matter. Because Swerve isn’t World Champion, Samoa Joe is.

Hangman will be watching the main event tonight, and if Hook somehow wins, then maybe it’ll be Hook. God be with Hook if it is. The Cowboy has made his mission known, will he be able to bring down whoever holds that title in the near future?

AEW welcomes Mark Briscoe & the Briscoe Family!

The Sussex County Chicken is here, on the anniversary of the day we tragically lost Mark’s brother, Jay Briscoe. Papa, Mama and the whole Briscoe bunch is ringside as Mark grabs a mic. Mark tells South Carolina, “What’s good, babay~? I come to you tonight representing the baddest tag team in the history of this planet, Dem Boys, the Briscoe Brothers.” The fans chant for “DEM BOYS! DEM BOYS!” Mark nods and says, “Tragically, one year ago tonight, my partner, my brother, he passed on, man. Car accident. Moved to the next level of existence.

“Y’know, they say generations come, generations go. Man, my nieces were in the truck with him. And tragically, they told my oldest niece they were injured severely, told my oldest niece, ‘You’ll never walk again.’ However…!” Fans cheer as Jay’s daughter walks out here with her brother and sister! Mark says God is on His Throne, and DEM BOYS are here, dammit! They won’t stop cuz they can’t stop! They ain’t going nowhere! Mark thanks every one of the fans, the Briscoes love you all, God Bless! Mark and the family hug it out, and fans cheer them on. We miss you, Jay Briscoe, and we will never forget you.

Renee has a sit-down interview with The Young Bucks.

She says it is good to have Nick & Matt Jackson back in AEW, and notes they requested this time to speak. Nick says yes, and apologizes for cutting her off. Please show more respect to them by addressing them by their full, God-given names of Nicholas and Matthew Jackson. They are Executive Vice Presidents, and it is time they take those jobs more seriously. Oh, well, okay then, let us talk about this job and being more serious. We’ve seen the temper tantrums and public meltdowns of the past, and rumors- Rumors? Matt sees she wants to go there, and hopes she doesn’t actually believe any of those rumors now. The things people say and write about them.

Matt says none of that is true. But let’s just say hypothetically some of it was. Let him ask her this: What would she do to preserve and protect her life’s work? To protect her child? Renee & Moxley have a lovely daughter, by the way. But Matt knows what he would do, right? So please, consider that when coming at them with “rumors,” okay? But again, we’re talking hypothetic. In fact, think about what you’d be willing to lose. Would she be willing to lose her relationship with friends and coworkers? How about her reputation or legacy? If she knew all that she’d lose in hindsight, would she still do what she does?

If it meant there would be a “healthy, sustainable, thriving wrestling company called AEW,” he knows his answer: HELL YEAH. He’d do it all again! And speaking of this company, Renee got paid, didn’t she? You’re welcome. Well, okay, then switching gears to keep things on track, let’s talk Sting & Darby Allin, the moment last week, Daily’s Place and The Bucks’ return. Walk us through those moments. Well, the Bucks started AEW before Renee got here so she doesn’t know, but their mission was, “Change the World.” And they did! They were disruptors, rebels, spitting in the face of tradition! It was out with the old and in with the new!

For awhile, AEW was doing that, they were changing the world. But somewhere along the way, AEW lost their way. The culture shifted, toxicity crept in, and the perception was just different. Matt knows why: they started to lean on yesterday’s “self-serving, superficial, cancerous superstars.” And Renee brought up Sting, this isn’t about Sting. Sting is none of those things. He is great! A role model employee, so awesome. He’s in the conversation for Greatest Of All Time, Matt is even envious of how people talk about Sting. Matt can only hope the people will talk about The Bucks like that one day.

However… It’s about what Sting represents. Sting is the last of a dying breed, and the image of Sting isn’t in line with what The Bucks want to do with AEW. So unfortunately for Sting, The Bucks will have to say goodbye to Sting and everybody like him. Matt says The Bucks would never ask anyone to do something they weren’t willing to do themselves, and Nick agrees. So is this the official challenge to Sting for Sting’s final match? Nick gets his phone out, and he shows Matt something. As EVPs, they will pull some strings. This is done, they’ve got a meeting. The Bucks leave, are they really going to throw their authority around just to tear down The Icon?

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships: The Mogul Embassy w/ Prince Nana VS Bullet Club Gold!

Just as The Undisputed Kingdom wants all the gold for themselves, the same goes for Swerve Strickland’s Mogul Embassy and Jay White’s Bang Bang Gang! Will Brian Cage, Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona continue their dominance as a trio? Or will Austin & Colten help them all Breathe with the Switchblade?

Austin throws body shots, but Kaun CHOPS Austin down! Austin sputters as he sits up, and Kaun cocky covers. TWO, and Dynamite returns to single picture. Kaun BLASTS White, swings on Colten, then drags Austin back up.

Kaun whips but Austin uses that to BLAST Cage & Liona! Austin then goes up and over Kaun to hot tag Colten! The fans fire up as Colten rallies on The Embassy with LARIAT after LARIAT! Liona runs up, Colten dodges and DROPKICKS him out! Fans fire up with Colten as he SPLASHES Cage! Colten then runs to juke and NECKBREAKER! Kaun is up, Colten spins him around to a FULL NELSON SLAM! Winners: Bullet Club Gold, by pinfall (NEW ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions)

And now there is GOLD in Bullet Club Gold! Bowens made the save, is he on to something about #BangBangScissorGang? Max Caster & Daddy Ass appear, too, offering the scissors. BCG don’t respond, but Austin does look over that way. Are we on the verge of seeing AEW’s first super group?

Adam Cole & Wardlow speak.

The Undisputed Kingdom’s leader says, “Y’know what’s horrifying? It’s that Wardlow has not even scratched the surface on what he’s capable of. But now with the Undisputed Kingdom, Wardlow will be unbeatable. This man will go down as the most DOMINANT AEW professional wrestler of all time, I promise you that. And just wait and see until Wardlow continues to run over opponent after opponent after opponent until there’s nothing left but the AEW World Championship, which will be the property of The Undisputed Kingdom. Ain’t that right, big man?” Wardlow smiles, and says, “BOOM!” When and where will the War Dog’s warpath reach the top of AEW?

“Timeless” Toni Storm is here!

And the AEW Women’s World Champion, accompanied by butler, Luther, and super fan, Mariah May, makes her way to ringside. She is prepared to once again join commentary so that she may keep a close eye on this next match.

Deonna Purrazzo VS Anna Jay!

The Virtuosa has battled Storm in the past, and hopes this match will jog Storm’s foggy memory. Will the leading lady realize what is in store? Or will the Queenslayer remind everyone why she is the Star of the Show?

The bell rings and the fans rally as the two circle. Anna and Deonna tie up, go around, and Deonna wrenches to a wristlock. Anna wrenches, Deonna rolls and rolls and gets free. Fans cheer while Deonna kicks some dirt at Anna. Anna shrugs that off, waistlocks, but Deonna switches. Anna bucks the O’Conner, dodges Deonna, but Deonna goes under. Deonna baits Anna into a stepover and roll-up, TWO! Anna hurries to step over, La Magistrol, TWO! Deonna hurries to her feet, wrenches Anna to UPPERCUT the arm, and then UPPERCUTS it again! Deonna wrangles Anna by that arm, isolates it, and STOMPS it! Cover, TWO!

Anna scrambles to ropes and Deonna gives her space. But then Deonna storms up and Anna BOOTS her away! Anna slips out as Deonna runs back in, and Anna ROCKS Deonna to put her in the ropes. Anna stands on Deonna at the ropes, CHOKES Her, and the ref counts. Anna lets off at 4, then drags Deonna up to SMACK her off the mat! Anna soaks up the cheers and jeers, then SMACKS Deonna off the mat again. Anna brings Deonna up to bump her off buckles, but Deonna fires a forearm! Anna stomps Deonna, bumps her off more buckles, then digs her boot in. The ref counts, Anna lets off at 4, and she brings Deonna up. Deonna ROCKS Anna but Anna ROCKS Deonna! The fans rally, Deonna catches Anna’s arm to the FUJIWARA! VENUS DE MILO! Anna verbally quits, Deonna wins!

Winner: Deonna Purrazzo, by submission

Toni admits that is an impressive armbar. She pets Ian’s head like a cat, is she planning on being the Bond villain to Deonna’s hero?

Renee joins Deonna in the ring to congratulate her, and says Deonna has no problem earning her shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship. So this is two impressive wins within just four days. Toni said she wanted to meet with Deonna, but seeing as she’s right there, does Deonna have anything to say to her? Of course. Deonna tells Toni, “I don’t know what’s gotten into you. We’ve known each other for a long time. Hell, we used to be like sisters!” Toni pretends to have no idea what Deonna means. But Deonna says that since coming to AEW, it is clear to her that Toni has changed. But so has Deonna.

Deonna says Toni might’ve been friends with Deonna Purrazzo, but she has never met THE GREATEST Women’s Technical Wrestler in the World, The Virtuosa! Fans cheer, and Toni storms off commentary to get a mic of her own. “Technical? You want technical?!” Toni has Luther hoist her up and walk around with her. “Technically speaking, you are an artificially tanned hag! My past is none of your concern. I oughta march into that ring and sock you right in that box!” Uh, what? Toni says we have to go to commercials, though, so stick around! Chin up, tits out, and watch for the shoe~! MARIAH THROWS TONI’S SHOE FOR HER!

Deonna avoids the slipper, then throws it back! Toni takes off another shoe, Mariah throws it and it hits Deonna! Deonna throws that back, but Mariah runs for it. Luther carries Toni away, “How DARE~ she?!” Toni says Deonna is toast, but will she be the one written out of the title picture?

Private Party VS Top Flight!

Marq Quen is ready to get back in action alongside Isiah Kassidy, and they wanted to return in big fashion. They did so by calling out Darius & Dante Martin and getting this match made! Two young and hungry teams are about to clash, who comes out of it one step closer to the AEW World Tag Team Champions?

The teams sort out and Darius starts against Zay. The fans rally up for Private Party as Zay and Darius tie up. Darius headlocks, Zay powers up and brings Darius to his knees. Zay pops out the back, headlocks in return, but then Darius spins Zay to a facelock. Zay wrenches out, drop toeholds, then facelocks in return. Darius wrenches out to hammerlock, but Zay moves around, Darius trips him, hooks an arm and flips him to a cover, ONE as Zay goes Matrix! Zay gets moving, fans fire up, but Darius arm-drags! Zay staggers up, runs again, but he turns Darius’ arm-drag into his own! Zay then trips Darius, Darius kicks Zay away, and both men kip up!

The fans fire up as the two jaw at each other, but then they shake hands. But Zay uses that to reel Darius in for a headlock! Darius powers up and out, Zay holds ropes and ELBOWS back! Tag to Quen, and fans fire up as Zay goes after Darius. Darius powers out of the neckbreaker and tags in Dante! Fans fire up as all four men now stare down. Dante headlocks, Quen powers out, but Dante whips him, only for Quen to avoid the arm-drag.

Quen shakes his recovered shoulder, then shoots after Dante’s repaired foot! Dante jumps over, goes for that arm, wrenches, but Quen rolls through. Quen trips Dante, Dante kicks him away, but Quen still wants the leg! Dante uses that to reel Quen in, headlock, and then go for the arm. Dante arm-drags hard and has the armlock! Fans cheer, Quen endure sand rolls to trip and toehold! Dante moves around, they go around and around, Dante kicks Quen off the ankle lock! Fans cheer this surprisingly technical exchange, and then Quen runs in. Dante dodges mule kicks, then whips. Quen ducks ‘n’ dodges, goes up and tags Zay to RANA GAMANGIRI COMBO!

Zay springboards to SQUEALING CROSSBODY! Dante goes down, Quen runs up on Darius but Darius ROCKS him first! Zay runs to springboard STUNNER Darius down! Fans fire up as Private Party stands tall, and Zay says, “We back, baby! We back!” Fans chant “Shots! Shots! Shots!” as Dynamite goes picture in picture.

Zay storms up on Dante but Dante throws body shots. Dante and Zay go fist for first, Zay ROCKS Dante and bumps him off buckles. Tag to Quen, Private Party double whips to then DOUBLE ATOMIC DROP, and they SPLIT the wishbone! Then DOUBLE BASEMENT DROPKICK! Quen drags Dante back up, brings him over, and stomps a mudhole into Dante. “Shots! Shots!” then tag to Zay. Zay drags Dante up, then sets him up for Quen. Quen runs in but Dante tosses him up and out! Quen hits the floor, Dante dodges Zay and Zay hits buckles. Dante goes up and around then GAMANGIRIS!

Dante WRECKS Quen for good measure, then goes up top! Zay tries to trip him up, but Dante just leaps up and over, hot tag to Darius! Darius rallies on Zay, BOOTS Quen, then ELBOWS Zay! Darius UPPERCUTS again and again, Quen storms in but Darius CHOPS him! ENZIGURI for Zay! Darius runs up, Quen dodges but then Darius BOOTS! Darius reels Quen in, and he gets Private Party for a DOUBLE TORNADO DDT! High stack on Zay, TWO!! Zay survives and Darius is annoyed but he drags Zay up. Darius CHOPS Zay, tags Dante, then wrenches Zay for an atomic drop and UPPERCUT! Cover, TWO!

Dante clamps onto Zay for a top wristlock. Zay endures, but Dante CLUBS him! Tag to Darius as Dynamite returns to single picture. Zay run sin, but Dante BOOTS him! Dante goes up, but gets some GIN & JUICE!!! But Darius is back to waistlock Quen! Quen switches, O’Conner, with ropes!! Private Party wins!!

Winners: Private Party, by pinfall

Darius can’t believe it, but Quen might’ve just snatched that one away! Action Andretti hurries out here to point out the controversy, but there’s nothing that can be done about it now. Private Party says peace and they bounce, but will they be getting their “SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS!” at tag titles soon enough?

Darby Allin & Sting have a message.

The Relentless One says since Sting’s arrival in AEW, they have accomplished so much together. 26-0 as tag partners, and Sting even said Darby is the best tag partner he’s ever had. For Darby, “the most important part of a story is not the beginning, it’s not the middle, it’s the end. And this story’s gonna end with me and Sting as AEW World Tag Team Champions.” It’s showtime, but will the Relentless Icons really be bringing the gold into Revolution?

AEW World Championship: Samoa Joe VS Hook!

In many ways, this match between the True King of Wrestling Television and the Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil has been a long time coming, and it is so fitting that it is for the biggest title in AEW. There will be NO commercial breaks during this match, but will we see someone be broken before this is all over?

The introductions are made, #PrettyPlatinum is raised, and we see just what it takes to be on top of the world!

The bell rings and fans sing “Joe is gonna kill~ you!” But Hook runs up to fire off on Joe! Joe shoves Hook away, Hook comes right back and fires off more fists! Joe TOSSES Hook out, but Hook is right up to throw more shots! Joe CHOPS Hook, whips him, but Hook jumps up onto the railing to FLYING FOREARM! Fans fire up as Hook fires off more shots, but Joe throws Hook back into the ring. Joe storms in, Hook fires more shots, then runs, only for Joe to ELBOW him down! Fans fire up for “JOE! JOE! JOE!” as he paces around. Joe waits on Hook to get up, then JABS! JABS! And body shots! Joe fires off a flurry, then CHOPS Hook down!

Joe storms around, then CHOPS Hook again! Joe whips Hook corner to corner, back body blocks and PELES! Hook drops to his knees and Joe asks, “You understand yet?” Hook shakes out the cobwebs but Joe stands him up. Joe snapmares Hook to CHOP him on the back! Hook writhes but Joe sits him up again, to PENALTY KICK! Joe lines up a shot, and ELBOW DROPS! Cover, TWO! Hook is still in this and Joe is annoyed. Joe drags Hook up, but Hook clinches! Joe CLUBS Hook, KNEES him low, then brings Hook around. But Hook CHOPS! Hook TACKLES Joe, then runs side to side to SLIDING LARIAT!

Joe bails out, Hook goes to the apron and FLYING FOREARMS again! Both men are down on the outside, the fans rally up, and Hook hauls Joe up. hook brings Joe closer to the desk, but Joe fights the clinch again! Joe clinches Hook now, to URENAGE Hook on the desk!! The desk falls apart and the fans lose their minds!! Joe marches away from Hook, a smirk on his face. The ref checks Hook, and he’s somehow still in this. Joe shrugs and asks, “Do you understand yet? Huh, Hooky?” Hook flips Joe off!! Joe drags Hook up, to APRON POWERBOMB!! Hook flops down and Joe leaves him behind while the ref wants Doc Sampson to step in!

Sampson checks Hook while fans tell Hook he messed up, and even Taz has to step away, being more father than commentator right now. Joe steps into the ring, leaving this to the ring count now. Hook is still moving, but the count reaches 5 of 10. Hook pushes himself up, Sampson asks him what he wants to do, and Hook clearly wants to still fight. The count is 7 of 10, Hook hobbles and slides in at 9! But Joe whips him to a corner! Hook rebounds into the SNAP POWERSLAM! Cover, TWO!! Hook is still in this and Joe is frustrated. Joe drags Hook back up, fireman’s carries, and he DEATH VALLEY DRIVERS!! Cover, TWO?!?!

Hook is showing heart and toughness beyond his years but Joe is more amused than anything. The fans rally as hard as they can, Joe bumps Hook off buckles, and then he hoists Hook up top. Joe CHOPS Hook, tucks him in, and carries Hook out for the MUSCLE BUSTER!! Cover, ONE?!??!? Since when does anyone survive the Muscle Buster?!? Hook has new life as he dodges Joe, to LARIAT! And LARIAT! And LARIAT again!! Hook fires off shots on Joe in the corner! Joe shoves Hook away, but Hook clinches! T-BONE SUPLEX!! The fans are electric as Hook rises again! Hook stalks Joe, and clamps on REDRUM!!!

No, Joe pries the hold open and arm-drags free! COQUINA CLUTCH!!! Joe has Hook caught in the body scissors, too! Hook claws at the grip but Joe’s arms at so big! Hook is fading, the ref lifts the arm! It drops once! It drops twice! It drops AGAIN, Hook is OUT! Joe wins!!

Winner: Samoa Joe, by submission (still AEW World Champion)

That glare from Joe shows Hook surprised even him with how much he put into this fight. And even as Joe takes his leave, Hook sits up again. Hook tells Joe that this ain’t done! “Is that all you got?!” Joe runs up to kick low! Joe tucks Hook in again, MUSCLE BUSTER!!! Fans boo and the ref reprimands! But wait, is Hook sitting up again? Doc Sampson hurries in but Hook still shouts at Joe! Even Taz can’t believe his son is this nuts! But as Joe storms his way back to the ring, HANGMAN rushes out there! Joe bails out before The Cowboy slides in, and Hangman tells Joe to try that on him! And then we see Swerve watching from the crowd!

Joe snarls at the two men chasing after him. Are the walls closing on on the AEW World Champion? Will Joe have to deal with #CowboyShid or Swerve’s House next? Hangman and Swerve then stare each other down, and Swerve reminds Hangman, 2-0. Will Swerve have to make it three in order to get past Hangman and head for the title? As for Hangman, he goes back to Hook to help him stand up. The fans cheer, Hook gives a thumbs up, and heads out with his FTW Championship. Will tonight’s match serve as proof that Hook will be world champion one day?

My Thoughts:

A great Dynamite here, especially the title matches. TNT Championship to open was a great match, with Dustin getting a great showing, but of course Christian retains thanks to his henchmen. Though, I never thought about it before, but there’s a bit of a logic gap in the whole “handing belt over” distraction spot. Why doesn’t the timekeeper or whoever that’s being handed the belt say something to the ref? Couldn’t Justin Roberts tell Aubrey that something was going on? But oh well, most pro-wrestling tropes need to stay in order for Heels to survive.

Great tag match from Cassidy & Trent VS Penta & Komander, great win for Cassidy & Trent, and of course this match was just so The Undisputed Kingdom could show up and Roddy could tell Cassidy they’re having their title match. And of course, being the Heel, Roddy’s gonna wait until Revolution so that he can be ready. And if anything, Cassidy’s gonna add a couple more defenses to his reign before then, meaning he’ll be all banged up before every having to face Roddy.

Great Six Man Tag title match, and while I anticipated Bowens showing up to help Bang Bang Gang, I didn’t think BCG would actually win. Great move for the story, because now the two trios championship teams logically could join together so that they’ll be the biggest and completely golden faction under the AEW/ROH roof. Or Jay White could be greedy and say it’s winners take all. Either way, this should make for some interesting stuff. Really good match from Deonna and Anna Jay, Toni being great on commentary again. Naturally, Deonna won, but good promo between her and Toni to keep in mind that this is the title match for Revolution.

Really good promo from The Young Bucks, and I really like them making their new personas the mean Heel authority figure. They’re arrogant about being EVPs, passive aggressively threatening Renee’s job, and are taking a totalitarian approach to how they’re pushing their booking agenda, ready to crush anyone that doesn’t fit it. Basically, the very few good things about Heel Vince in WWE. Darby has a good response in that he doesn’t even really acknowledge The Bucks, he is calling out Starks & Bill. I could see the EVP Bucks making Darby & Sting VS Starks & Bill for the titles sometime before Revolution, so that Darby & Sting VS Bucks at Revolution can be for the tag titles.

That way, with help of kayfabe, we get to what really should’ve happened all along rather than the Bucks dropping the title opportunity to Jericho & Omega. Nothing on Omega, that debacle is on Jericho. Who really didn’t need to have a promo tonight, and didn’t need to set up a match with Sydal. And the way Sydal got Jericho to take this match was weirdly two-faced. Sydal talking like he’s encouraging Jericho but it feels more like Sydal thinks he can catch Jericho off balance and get a win for himself. Jericho should’ve been written off alongside Sammy, then come back closer to Revolution, or even after Revolution. But no, Jericho still needs to feud with Don Callis Family, can this be where Paul Wight makes a triumphant return to go after Hobbs?

Awesome moment with bringing Mark Briscoe out, as well as Jay’s daughters who made it through the car crash. Great video for him, too, and I hope we still get something like another Reach for the Sky ladder match to honor him. Just no wild spots like what injured Dante. Awesome tag match from Private Party and Top Flight, but is Quen cheating to keep that pin partly why they ditched Private Party VS Hardy Boyz? Cuz they’re all gonna end up Heels together anyway? Kinda lame move to me, Tony Khan, but whatever. And just an awesome main event from Joe VS Hook, though I feel like Hook getting new life to kick out of anything at one was too much. Near falls are fine, but him to suddenly reach a new gear was a lot, even for someone as popular as him.

But it did help Joe unleash his savagery in giving Hook another Muscle Buster. Hangman storming out there was good, and Swerve watching was also good. They both had great promos tonight, they’re definitely having that third match even though Swerve did win 2-0, but something about that in itself feels like Tony should’ve let Hangman get one. If it was 1-1, then the #1 contendership going to the tiebreaker makes sense. That is a trope they should keep in tact so that logic can survive.

My Score: 8.9/10

Mark Briscoe speaks.

“It’s the New Year, but the only thing I’m bringing new is the fact that I’m cranking it up, baby! The violence! The intensity! All that! Tonight, Daniel Garcia, I’m coming for that TNT title! Danny G, you’re my boi, but I must whoop dat ass tonight, cuz I need that TNT title! Let’s go, baby! ARF ARF AAAH!”

Daniel Garcia speaks.

“Tonight, we make history. The first ever simulcast, TNT, MAX, Mark Briscoe, Daniel Garcia. Mark, I like you, but everybody in Charlotte, North Carolina wants to see a fight tonight, and I do, too. Let’s get it!”

The Learning Tree speaks.

Big Bill starts by telling Rated FTR that tonight, you get taken to school. They won’t give you a rating, they’re giving you a grade. Bryan Keith says they’re gonna flunk, dumbass! Chris Jericho says, “See you soon, guys.” Then his smile slowly sours to a frown.

Dax Harwood says that for the first time ever, Collision is on both MAX and TNT. And three days after an absolute war on Dynamite, Rated FTR makes their Collision debut. And it is against Jericho & The Learning Tree. Cash Wheeler says more like The Ugly Trees. Or maybe they fell out of an ugly tree, hit every ugly branch, then got run over by an ugly bus driven by an ugly bus driver, full of ugly kids. Well, that said, #TopGuysOut. But will things get ugly here on the first Saturday night of 2025?

The Death Riders speak.

Specifically, Wheeler Yuta tells Jay White that he had no business interfering with the main event match on Dynamite! But now, he is a marked man! White is Yuta’s target, because nobody, and he means NOBODY- Moxley has Yuta calm down, and he brings up FTR. Moxley has always had respect men who are a defining tag team in their generation. In Moxley’s generation. Taking old school to the next level, like their generation does. They are representative of an artform that is tag team competition. Two of the toughest SOBs East of the Mississippi. But FTR crossed a line interfering in Moxley’s business.

FTR paid a price, but as far as Moxley’s concerned, that was the end of it. Then what’d FTR do? They created a whole new mess! And they didn’t come alone, they brought a “friend,” if that’s what we’re calling it. What do we know about “Cope,” Adam Copeland? A legend, an innovator, perennial champion, and he has the gold to prove it. Reigns, belts, trophies, whatever you want. Spent nearly a decade on the shelf with a broken neck, almost extinct. But he defied the laws of nature to come to a new, more unforgiving world, in the most unforgiving sport in the world. Cope came up the hard way. Been through everything, seen everything.

But he’s always been a frontrunner. This new world, this AEW of the future… In Moxley’s world, survival comes at a cost, so Cope will have to become something new. If Rated FTR wants to keep going down this road, Moxley won’t stop them. But he promises them that they will find nothing good down this road. Hell on Earth, if you will. Moxley leads The Death Riders away, but will the New Year be the end for their enemies?

Jeff Jarrett VS Aaron Solo!

The Last Outlaw declared on Wednesday that his last wrestling contract is right here in AEW, and he wants to be AEW World Champion before the ride’s over! Double J got the better of QT Marshall, will he do the same to QT’s sidekick? Or will Solo remind us all that he’s Extra Talented?

Solo goes after Jarrett before the bell! The fans boo, the ref reprimands, but Solo keeps after Jarrett as the bell rings. Solo ROCKS Jarrett, whips him, then ELBOWS him down! Solo soaks up the heat while he mocks the Fargo Strut. Solo CLUBS Jarrett, ROCKS him again, but the fans rally for Double J. Solo laughs, whips Jarrett again, but Jarrett reverses and CLOBBERS Solo! And CLOBBERS him again! Solo blocks a kick but not the ENZIGIRI! Jarrett then runs to STRADDLE ATTACK! The fans fire up as we get the real Fargo Strut! Solo runs up, Jarrett dodges, and then Jarrett BACKDROPS him! Solo writhes but Jarrett brings him up.

Jarrett whips, Solo reverses, but Jarrett reverses back to KNEE low, and THE STROKE! But that’s not all, THE STROKE ENCORE! Cover, Jarrett wins!

Winner: Jeff Jarrett, by pinfall

The Last Outlaw puts this one to bed fast, he is all tuned up and ready to go for next week’s Casino Gauntlet! Will Jarrett earn himself that golden ticket to Maximum Carnage in Cincinnati? Will Moxley make Jarrett regret sticking around another year?

AEW World Tag Team Championships: Private Party VS Lio Rush & Action Andretti!

Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy brokered the #1 contenders match between both sides of Top Flight Airlines, and little did anyone know that The Bad Child & Sight to See would resort to new lows just to win. But now it is time for their “SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS!” at these titles, will Lio & Action make sure they’re the Men of the Hour? Or will there be no end to this party?

Lio drags Zay up, brings him over to bump off buckles, and he tags Action. They mug Zay, stomp a mudhole in, but they stop as the ref counts 4. Action drags Zay to a cocky cover, TWO! Action scuffs Zay, taunts him, then stands him up. Zay CHOPS back and fires off hands, and Collision goes to break!

Collision returns and Action has Zay down again. Action may have also knocked Quen back down, he isn’t on the apron. Lio steps in so that he and Action can double whip Zay to the corner. Action runs up, but Zay TOSSES Action out! Lio runs up but Zay pops him up for a SPINEBUSTER! The fans fire up while Zay crawls, and Quen returns to the apron! Zay crawls, Lio grabs at feet, but Zay kicks free! Hot tag to Quen! The fans fire up as Quen rallies on Action! Forearm, forearm, BOOT, ROUNDHOUSE! The fans boo but Quen is going up top! SUPER SWANTON! Down go Lio & Action! The fans fire up while Quen puts Lio in. Tag to Zay and he kicks Lio! TWIST OF FATE! Quen goes up, SHOOTING STAR PRESS! Cover, but Action 450 SPLASHES onto it all! Top Flight admits, that was good. Action drags Lio to their corner and then tags himself in. Action & Lio go after Zay but Zay fires off shots! But Action blocks his kick!

Zay still fights, and he manages a STUNNER on Lio! But action fireman’s carries! Zay fights with elbows, then goes to the apron. Zay GAMANGIRIS, sunset flips, but Action stays up! Lio grabs Action’s hand! DANTE BREAKS THAT UP! Zay rolls Action, PRIVATE PARTY WINS!!

Backstage interview with “Cope,” Adam Copeland.

Lexy Nair is with the Rated R Superstar and says Rated FTR takes on The Learning Tree, Chris Jericho and his group. But she wants to take us back to Worlds End, seeing him and FTR target The Death Riders. Why? Cope says it is real simple: You attack his friends, now they have a problem. Moxley and his Death Riders, they threw Darby Allin down a flight of stairs in the Hammerstein Ballroom, we haven’t seen Darby in the week since, no telling when he will be back. The Death Riders also attacked FTR, very dear friends of Cope’s. Therefore, we have a problem. And there’s also the fact that Jon Moxley is the AEW World Champion.

And while Cope was gone, he heard Moxley say that no one here wants to be AEW World Champion. Well, Cope wasn’t here, but he’s an ELEVEN-TIME World Champion! And it’s time to make that a dirty dozen! Cope won’t hide that title in a bag or a briefcase, hide it in a pouch, he will wear it around his waist proudly, like a world champion should! So Moxley, it is- Wait, Chris Jericho walks over. The ROH World Champion hears Cope talking about Moxley, but don’t forget what he has in front of him tonight, here on Collision. Because while Cope was gone, Jericho became a world champion for a NINTH time!

Jericho is El Nueve, the King of New York, and The Learning Tree! Cope has Jericho stop there. Jericho doesn’t need to be all fired up, because Cope gets it. Cope respects Jericho. Hell, Cope kinda likes Jericho. They have a long history. In fact, this is the fourth decade that they’ll compete against each other in, and it’s been about 15 years since they faced off. Jericho says wow, four decades, 15 years. He doesn’t remember any of that. Seems their “relationship” meant more to Cope than it did to Jericho. Because all Jericho remembers was Cope getting hurt all the time. Okay, Cope will take that “liking” thing back.

Because now Cope can only remember that Jericho’s an A-hole, and still is. See you out there. Cope heads out, and Jericho says as far as he’s concerned. Cope’s a Dope! Sick burn. Jericho leaves, having complimented himself, but will Cope add insult to injury when Rated FTR chops down The Learning Tree?

Toni Storm VS Deonna Purrazzo w/ Taya Valkyrie!

The Rockstar didn’t quite get The Virtuosa’s insult when Deonna mocked Toni’s apparent memory loss. However, Deonna also vowed to make this a night no one will forget. Will Deonna make sure to end “rookie” Toni’s time before it even begins? Or will no Vendetta take down the former AEW Women’s World Champion?

The bell rings and Toni offers a handshake. Deonna accepts it, the fans cheer, and the two circle. They feel things out, knuckle lock, and go shoulder to shoulder in a Test of Strength. Toni rains down fists, the fans fire up, and Toni brings Deonna up to FISHERMAN SUPLEX! Bridging cover, TWO! Not quite perfect, but Toni hooks up the legs! DEATHLOCK STF! Deonna endures, reaches out, ROPEBREAK! Toni lets go, Deonna goes to a corner, and the fans fire up for the rock ‘n’ roll! HIP ATTACK! And then STORM- NO, Deonna trips Toni to jackknife, TWO! Toni reels Deonna back in but Taya gets on the apron! Toni storms up on Taya, Taya avoids the shot, and Deonna GERMAN SUPLEXES!

Deonna BOOTS Toni down, covers, TWO!! Toni survives but Deonna goes for an arm! FUJIWARA ARMBAR! Toni endures, fights around, reaches out, ROPEBREAK! Toni survives by a foot and Taya scowls. Deonna lets go in frustration, then reels Toni. But Toni wrenches out and fires forearms! The fans rally up, Deonna fires back! The forearms go faster and faster, meaner and meaner! Toni gets the edge but Deonna shoves her! Toni HEADBUTTS! Deonna BOOTS! Toni kicks and DDTS! Cover, TWO! Deonna survives but Toni has her up and in! Deonna RAMS Toni into a corner! And RAMS her again!

Deonna lets off to run up, but Toni ELBOWS her away! Taya storms up but Toni DEKCS her for it! But Deonna rolls Toni! TWO!! Toni escapes, Deonna wrenches, but Toni wrenches back! Cradle, TONI WINS!!

Winner: Toni Storm, by pinfall

Toni hurries away before Taya can get at her! The Vendetta got bested by the “rookie,” and even Toni is surprised! Will this win streak of hers bring Toni back to the top of AEW?

AEW shares footage from after Dynamite.

Alex Marvez was on standby as Christopher Daniels argued with Hangman Page given how Dynamite went down. Daniels says he keeps telling Hangman he is on Hangman’s side! All this anger is useless! Hangman could be world champion, and Daniels believes in him! Oh, Daniels bElIeVeS~ in him? What’s that even supposed to do for Hangman? It doesn’t mean s*it to Hangman! Y’know what Hangman needs? Daniels should’ve been at Worlds End, where was he? And what was Daniels supposed to do for Hangman? That was a Fatal 4 Way! Hangman says Daniels could’ve done something! Anything! But he got NOTHING.

In fact, what has Daniels given anyone? What has he given AEW? What has he given wrestling? When Hangman looks at Daniels, he sees an old man clinging on to a sport that left him behind a long time ago. Understand? And if Daniels hasn’t already lost his mind to old age, he would’ve hung it up five years ago when he still had an ounce of dignity! Hangman then SLAPS Daniels! The Fallen Angel seethes, but Hangman says, “That’s what I thought.” Daniels shouts at Hangman and TACKLES him! Daniels fires fists, HEADBUTTS away on Hangman, and even busts himself open with those! But he shouted at Hangman that he isn’t done!

Daniels fires off kicks and stomps, and he has Hangman reeling! Daniels says he is the Fallen Angel, and Hangman better respect him or go to Hell! Daniels storms off, and Hangman says if that’s how Daniels wants it, then he’ll get it. Is the Blackhat Cowboy about to go to war with one of the all-time greats?

AEW shares more footage from after Dynamite.

AEW Media caught up with Anthony Bowens to ask him about losing to Hurt Syndicate. Bowens says don’t ask him, ask Max Caster. Caster hobbles along and the reporter asks him what happened. Caster says what we witnessed was The Best Wrestler Alive in action, but a 2v1 attack by the Hurt Syndicate, a cowardly move by a couple of cowards. Caster said it before and will say it again, they don’t want The Syndicate here. Caster may have lost that battle but- Bowens returns to shout at Caster, “Are you kidding me?!” The Best Wrestler Alive BS got him exactly what he deserved out there!

And Caster has been annoying the hell out of Bowens, pissing him off, for MONTHS! By the way, that’s why Billy doesn’t even show up because he doesn’t wanna deal with Caster. Caster says F Billy! Then keep listening to Billy. Bowens storms off, is The Acclaimed going to fall apart before the year’s even begun?

FTR talks with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express.

Dax & Cash are honored to be standing in front of tag team greatness! The greatest tag team of all time, and for once, he doesn’t mean FTR. Well, don’t think they forgot about FTR dropping Ricky Morton on his head. Dax promises Ricky, that was a dark place in their lives. They apologize for that spike piledriver and almost breaking Ricky’s neck. From the bottom of Dax’s heart, he wants them to forgive him and Cash. Nah, just another day at the office. But then in step The Outrunners! Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum look at the 80s legends, and Turbo says Memphis, Tennessee, Colt Convention Center, 1982, Rock ‘n’ Roll Express still owe them a dance!

FTR has The Outrunners calm down, and Ricky’s pretty sure these guys weren’t even born in 1982. Aw c’mon, they were just really young then. Yeah, Youngest Men Alive! And they’re here to collect! Well, Ricky isn’t sure what to say, but how about, “We’re sorry.” FTR says just bury the hatchet, guys. The 80s were a long time ago. Turbo tells Ricky & Robbie, “You son of a b*tch!” They all shake hands, and FTR says #TopGuysOut!

AEW mourns the loss of Sweet Daddy Siki, 1933 – 2024.

AEW shares footage from after Worlds End.

Last Saturday, technically last year in 2024, Jon Moxley escaped with the AEW World Championship, but he was more upset about how “they” were all “talk and talk” about who they are and what they’ll do. But when bullets start flying, when things get real, that’s not who they are at all. Who they are when their feet are put to the fire is very, very different. Marina Shafir took a bullet tonight, because she is a woman of integrity and iron will. She is someone who stands with Moxley and he accepts nothing left! What would you take a bullet for? Moxley grabbed AEW by the strap and dragged it to safety through a pandemic!

Moxley has taken bullet after bullet after bullet for AEW! And if he has to, he will burn it down, sink it, and destroy the AEW World Championship before he lets anyone get their greedy, soulless, criminals fingers on it ever again! Moxley knows what Adam Copeland is about. The Death Riders are not rebels, they rebel against authority. No one has authority over them. Moxley is king. Tonight, Copeland was just the loudest guy in the room.

Rated FTR responds.

Dax & Cash stand with the Rated R Superstar while he paces, and Dax says if the Death Riders want a fight, they’ll get the damndest fight of their lives! Cash says tonight is Fight for the Fallen, and this is for North Carolina! This is for the people who never keep fighting, so FTR will never keep fighting. Copeland says Death Riders have tried to take out his friends, they’ve taken out Darby Allin! Well, it’s 2025 now! First Dynamite of the New Year, first one streaming on MAX, so let’s get going! At Worlds End, Edge saw something he never saw in Moxley’s eyes before: FEAR. And it is the fear that Edge is SICKER than Moxley. This’ll be fun!

Bladerunner, one, two, and then Wheeler Yuta throws himself on top of the referee. Not just costing me any moment. Costing me the moment! He cost me MY moment! And that makes me feel… Words don’t do it justice. So Wheeler, I promise you, I will show you over and over again exactly how I feel. But don’t worry, because I still have a path to Moxley at Maximum Carnage! And next week, in the Casino Gauntlet, I will walk along that path to you, Moxley!

“But first, tonight, I face two former AEW champions, and I BEAT two former AEW champions. It’s nothing personal, fellas. Roderick Strong, Swerve Strickland, you’ll simply be the catalyst collateral on my way to the gold. It doesn’t matter who’s the Messiah, it doesn’t matter whose house this is, you will breath with the Switchblade!” White makes his intentions known, but will he be number one with a bullet going into the Casino Gauntlet?

Backstage interview with Team Triple J.

Alex Marvez is with Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt & Satnam Singh and says he hasn’t been able to get a word with Jeff Jarrett. Have any of them spoken with Jarrett before tonight? Of course they have, he’s their friend. But he hasn’t answered their calls or texts. Oh, but Jarrett walks in, and he says he’s been here all day. A lot is going on, and this is a big night. Do any of them know where Karen went? Sonjay asks Marvez to give them the room. Marvez nods and exits. Sonjay says yes, tonight’s a big night, so they need to ask. Is Jarrett sure about his announcement? Lethal says before he answers, just know that whatever he decides, they support him 100%.

But even so, they want to make sure that Jarrett is sure. No regrets, right? Jarrett says they all go way back. Oh, Karen walks in now. Mrs. Jarrett says she needed a minute. She knows this business is what brought them together, but is also what almost broke Jeff at times. Karen knows this is what’s in his heart, which his what makes this so hard. But whatever he wants, she wants. They are unbreakable. Jeff nods and hugs Karen. Karen gives Jeff his boots, and Jeff takes his leave. Is this what we think it is?

Mariah May speaks.

“I was told not to say any more ‘bad things’ about this Women’s Division. Okay. I think the Women’s Division is great! Happy? Good. Now let’s talk about why. I had more matches last year than any other woman. In fact, nobody else in that locker room even cracked the top ten. They were all either faking injuries, failing auditions, or they can’t even remember who they are. Meanwhile, I was doing my job better than any other woman alive. I left a trail of broken hearts, bodies and minds, and I made it look so easy, you didn’t even realize how good it was. I don’t have epics, I AM the epic. And now it’s time for the greatest women’s division to prove themselves to me.

“I am the Woman From Hell, and I am still standing on your necks. And you want a chance to even breathe again? You’re gonna have to work for it. You can’t touch me. But I’d love to see you try.” The Glamour has thrown down the challenge, who steps up to prove her wrong?

Jeff Jarrett heads to the ring!

Waiting in the ring is his signature red guitar, and he has his boots draped on his shoulders. The Last Outlaw steps into the ring, grabs a mic, and he says he might as well get started with a Slappy New Year, Asheville! Now, to business. Over the last few days, Jarrett’s been trying to figure out, put words together, but a ton of emotions have come over him. At the top of his list: gratitude. There are so many things he has to be thankful for in his career. The fans cheer on “DOUBLE J! DOUBLE J!” Jarrett says it is sad for him to start thinking about things coming to an end. But when he started thinking about that, it made him think of how everything began.

For the Jarrett Family, it started in 1946, Downtown Nashville, Grandma Jarrett took a second job selling tickets. That decision changed the family’s life forever. Grandma parleyed that decision into multiple high-risk, high-reward decisions, and she became the CFO of the Tennessee Territory! Then Jarrett’s dad got into the business, promoting shows in high school, wrestled, and became the most popular wrestler, and that afforded him the opportunity to buy the promotion. After a series of even more high-risk and high-reward, he promoted for 40 years. That brings us to 1986, when Jarrett got into the industry.

Jarrett made HIS first high-risk, high-reward decision. Against his family’s wishes, and specifically his mom’s, Jarrett was playing college basketball as a Freshman, but dropped out of school to start his in-ring career. The fans cheer that! Jarrett says he could go on and on about high-risk, high-reward, but he’ll just talk about one more. In 2002, Jarrett bet on himself by launching his own promotion. And in his professional opinion, that promotion has produced some of the greatest pro-wrestlers of all time. The fans cheer that! But that brings Jarrett to here tonight. Jarrett holds up the boots and fans are a bit worried.

The fans chant “NO! NO! NO!” but Jarrett says as a TWELVE TIME World Champion, a TWO-TIME Hall of Famer, he had to ask himself, “Should the Last Outlaw just ride off into the sunset?” The fans say “NO!” Jarrett hears that and says his answer is “HELL NO!” The fans fire up as Jarrett says the thought that goes through his mind is that when you take the biggest risk of your life, you’ve got the biggest reward! So Jarrett is here to announce that he has signed his very LAST pro-wrestling talent contract with AEW! Because the Last Outlaw wants one more ride! And not just any ride. Jarrett wants A E W GOLD!

And we’re not talking Trios or Tag, but about the biggest risk of his career! Hell yeah, he could fall flat on his face. Hell, there’s that Casino Gauntlet, put his name in the hat! Because Jarrett vows that from tonight, January 1st, 2025, The Last Outlaw’s New Year’s Resolution is to be A E W WORLD CHAMPION! Double J is swinging for the fences, will he hit that homerun? Or will he go down swinging?

Hook speaks.

“Christian Cage. I hope you’re not looking forward to this New Year. See, just cuz I beat your ass in a luxury box a couple weeks ago, and since I choked out your ‘son,’ Nick Wayne, in the middle of New York City, doesn’t mean my job is finished. So why don’t you go ask Nick what it’s like to be locked in the Redrum. Cuz I’m gonna finish what that chowderhead started, and choke your ass out.” The Cold-Hearted Handsome devil has spoken, and he’ll get his fight in two weeks! Will it truly be Maximum Carnage when Hook gets his hands on Christian Cage?

2v1 Handicap: “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs VS Jon Cruz & Rob Killjoy!

He may not have won the AEW International Championship at Worlds End, but it’s a New Year and the Book of Hobbs can write another chapter. Will that chapter start with the mauling of two mortal men at the same time?

The bell rings, Hobbs CLOBBERS Cruz, and Killjoy is worried. Killjoy CHOPS, but it does nothing! Killjoy swings but Hobbs catches the haymaker! Hobbs then short arm LARIATS Killjoy inside-out! Hobbs runs up to SPLASH Cruz, “MEAT!” Then SPLASH for Killjoy! “MEAT!” Another SPLASH for Cruz, then Hobbs whips Cruz hard into Killjoy! Cruz staggers forward, Hobbs hits a SNAP POWERSLAM! Killjoy staggers, Hobbs whips and SPINEBUSTERS! Killjoy sputters, Cruz crawls, and the straps come down! The fans fire up for Hobbs as he looms over Cruz. SPINEBUSTER onto Killjoy! Stack and double cover, Hobbs wins!

Winner: “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs, by pinfall

Jay White may be entering the gauntlet #1, but Hobbs is looking to get in on that. Will no one stop the Powerhouse from having his golden ticket to the AEW World Championship?

Backstage interview with “Big Bill” Morrissey & Bryan Keith.

Alex Marvez is with The Redwood and The Bad Apple, and he asks where Chris Jericho is tonight. Bill tells North Carolina that this place is great! W-Well, it’s good. Keith says it’s aight. Well said, Keith! It’s aight. But The Nueve… isn’t coming. Oh, but look! The hometown heroes! The camera pans over and it’s #RatedFTR! Bill & Keith walk over, and Bill says he isn’t sure who should be more ashamed: These three being proud of Asheville, or Asheville being proud of Rated FTR. As the Learning Tree always says, “Home is where you find yourself.” And well, they find themselves in a situation where the hOmEtOwN hErOeS~ need to be taken down a branch or two.

Keith says, “Yeah! Rated R Dumbass!’ What? Is that the best he has? Did Jericho feed Keith that in an earpiece or something? No? Well, Copeland doesn’t see a Bad Apple, just a tumbleweed. As for Bill, well, his FACE is stupid! How about this? Asheville, Saturday Night Collision, Rated FTR VS The Learning Tree! See you, kids. Bye, guys~! Edge leads Cash & Dax to gorilla, will they tear down one arrogant trio before going after another?

AEW shares more footage from after Worlds End.

A bloodied and battered MJF crawls backstage but laughs while sarcastically applauding. “Congratulations on your big win, Adam Cole. Oh, wait, that’s right, you lost! It took a whole entire army just to beat me up! Typical. Well, finally, FINALLY, the chapter of Better Than You Baybay in my career, finally, 2024 comes to a close! Mercifully! It’s time for the next chapter, my friends. Now, it’s time for retribution. See, something was taken from me. Something that I did not lose fair and square. MY TRIPLE B! MY CHAMPIONSHIP! Is now being paraded around in a briefcase? By a man who walks around claiming he’s the king of these lands.

“Well, Dictator Jon, I got a question for ya, bud. What’s a king to a god? Because ain’t nobody, and I mean ain’t nobody, on the LEVEL of the DEVIL! And nobody knows that better than you, ‘ey, Jonny Boy?” MJF laughs more, and he says he has no problems with Moxley. Moxley can burn AEW to ashes, MJF just wants the championship. And he doesn’t give a damn who has it, but MJF will get it! Come Hell or high water! Because 2025, the Devil gets his due, part 2. The Wolf of Wrestling is ready to bring out his inner demons again, but will he regret riding that highway to Hell?

Jay White comes through with an assist so that the numbers were even! The Death Riders lose at their own numbers game, but will they make sure White regrets coming after them? As for Rated FTR, will they do this all again against The Learning Tree in Charlotte, North Carolina? Will this all lead Adam Copeland, Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler back to title opportunities in 2025?

My Thoughts:

A great episode for AEW, especially as the return of Fight for the Fallen, the first Dynamite of 2025, and the first Dynamite to be livestreamed on MAX. With AEW Revolution not until March, Maximum Carnage is quickly being built as a big episode to make up for no PPV. And I think AEW is taking off January for a PPV because WrestleKingdom & WrestleDynasty this weekend kinda has them covered. Quite a few names are going to Japan for those events, and win, lose or draw, they’ll have a great time. That said, Mercedes Mone had a good promo, but it was literally just her putting herself over, not even a little bit of a response from Mina Shirakawa.

Mone is doing great Heel work, but with that needs to be comeuppance, so I’m hoping Mina takes the NJPW Strong Women’s title this weekend, sending Mone back to AEW in a bad mood. Then if they really want to, Kamille could return and go after Mone for the TBS Championship, or even just as payback for whatever sneak attack that was weeks ago. Mariah May’s promo was also really good, and we can only hope it is Athena coming after her. Athena can, and perhaps should, win the International Women’s Cup to then get her shot at any title she wants. While I thought Athena was going to drop the ROH Women’s title to Billie Starkz, making it Mariah VS Athena, Champion VS Champion, would be really good stuff, and really help push that ROH cable deal along.

Very good match from Jamie and Julia, though Julia seemed to be working off that ring rust just a bit. However, incredibly clever finish with the arrow as the decoy for the classic black mist. Clearly we’ll get a rematch of this, perhaps part of Maximum Carnage, and it should really be a House Rules match so that Jamie can in part choose a stipulation. Then per the standard formula, Jamie wins so that we get the tiebreaker in something even crazier, like a Street Fight. Hook had a very good promo to call out Christian Cage, they’ll have a great match, and I would think Hook wins, just to make us think Christian won’t cash in…

Jeff Jarrett had a great couple of promos, and when he first announced this announcement at Worlds End, I could just tell Double J was gonna double down and go for the world title instead of retiring. Jarrett and Team Triple J feuding with The Death Riders could actually be some good stuff. MJF had a very good promo to move on from Adam Cole, and I guess per his “relapse” into Heel behavior, he’s of course “relapsing” back to his AEW Devil gimmick. MJF getting in on the Casino Gauntlet might actually be some great stuff. Hobbs crushes that Handicap match, he should have a great showing in the gauntlet, too.

Great promos from Jay White, Swerve Strickland and Roderick Strong, awesome Triple Threat, but I should’ve figured Ricochet would go after Swerve. I just didn’t think he’d go full psycho like that. Though, that might actually work out for the better as his apparent “Andrew Tate” gimmick wasn’t working. White having the first spot is certainly some good stuff, but hard to say if he wins the gauntlet. Especially when he went after Yuta tonight to screw Death Riders in the main event. I just hope the Gunns are near healthy again so they can help White against Death Riders. Then Rated FTR had a good promo with Bill & Keith, they’ll have a great Six Man Tag on Collision.

Great opening match from Hangman VS Cassidy, and a solid win for Hangman. Obviously the big stuff was him beating up on Cassidy after, and even hitting Christopher Daniels. Hangman is again burning bridges between him and friends, but that’s consistent with his character. Daniels stepping down from being an EVP with Kenny Omega returning could mean Daniels tries to settle things with Hangman in the ring, only to give Hangman another solid win. And speaking of Kenny, Okada calling Kenny out in his promo was some good stuff. While Kenny has WrestleDynasty as the first test of his in-ring shape, he and Okada could certainly have something going towards Revolution in March.

Great stuff with The Acclaimed VS Hurt Syndicate. Though, with what MVP was saying on commentary, I hope TK hasn’t dropped the recruitment storyline on all fronts. Hurt Syndicate not wanting Caster anymore does make sense given his attitude, but they also rejected Ricochet so what was the point of MVP handing out cards? That said, Bowens ditching Caster was a bit of a surprise. If this is how Acclaimed ends, it’s a bit of a whimper rather than a bang. I suppose a promo on Collision can help steer things towards a proper implosion, and then we can build towards Caster VS Bowens, maybe even get multiple rounds of it with Billy Gunn stuck in the middle, just something more befitting of a true homegrown AEW team falling apart.

My Score: 8.9/10
