As good as his US title run was you new Cena would be back in the WWE title picture soon enough. There was a lot of anticipation going into this match as Cena and Styles stole the show at SummerSlam the year before. People were surprised to see Cena put Styles over clean and were curious if he would do the same here. There was also the intrigue if Cena would tie Ric Flair’s record.

This was a match that even by the end of the year people were still calling the match of the year. By this point both men knew each other very well. Cena countered the Phenomenal forearm with an AA before rolling through and hitting another AA for his 16^th World title.

His matches with Styles showed almost a change in Cena. He pulled out more than he had before, and it wasn’t a case of one AA Cena wins as it would have been a few years prior. The loss didn’t hurt Styles and it was a great moment for Cena. I t adds intrigue if Cena challenges for the title again because if he will have the most world title reigns of anyone in WWE.
