“They call me ‘The Right Hand Man,’ Main Event Jey Uso. You know this.” Last week, brother Jimmy disrespected The Head of the Table, Roman Reigns. So this week, they have no choice but to handle family business! That said, Jey brings to the WWE Universe the Head of the Table, the Tribal Chief, the man who will handle Cesaro this Sunday at #WrestleManiaBacklash, Jey’s cousin and WWE Universal Champion, Roman…! Reigns! Roman does indeed make his entrance, with Paul Heyman following behind and carrying the title for him. Heyman hands the belt over so Roman can hold it up as pyro goes off.
Roman hands the belt back to Heyman and they continue down the ramp while recap of last week plays. Roman raises the title for the second round of pyro, then is handed the mic from Heyman. He says to Jey, “So clearly, we’ve got some problems. One of them being your brother. And we’ll get to him here in a minute, but I’m gonna address Cesaro first. I like him. Like a lot of the boys in the back, I respect Cesaro. I do, he’s a top tier talent. Hell, we could say he’s one of the best wrestlers in the whole world.” Heyman agrees with “one of.” But Paul, Roman is so much more than just a wrestler, right?
Heyman agrees there, too. He lists off how Roman is Tribal Chief, Head of the Table, the End All Be All, and of course WWE Universal Heavyweight Champion. But with everything Roman does, no way could Cesaro fulfill all that. Does WWE really want Cesaro in Roman’s place? Do you think SmackDown wants that? Does Fox want that? NO! Just look at the facts. How many world title matches has Cesaro even had? ZERO. And rightfully so! But how many has Roman had? Heyman’s people are good with numbers, and that number is 39! Wow! But moving on, let’s just talk about Jimmy Uso. “It was simple! He got to see how it works.”
But Jimmy comes out to interrupt! And his new shirt reads “NOBODY’S BITCH,” to emphasize what he said to last week. Jimmy has a mic and says he’s here, so let’s talk. Jimmy hears the chief jaw-jacking, running his mouth, while his brother standing there like, a, BITCH! Like the shirt, Uce? Jey must be feeling it. Jimmy has one for Jey if he’s ready. Matter fact, now’s the time! Jimmy isn’t sure if “our boy” Roman is gonna make it past Cesaro! Jey says that’s their cousin! Head of the Table! Show respect to family, Uce! Jimmy IS all about family, Uce! Roman asks Jimmy about that. If he’s about family, then he’s about Roman because what he’s done for the family.
No, that’s not it. Roman may be family, but he isn’t the entire family! Roman wants to backtrack a bit. Jimmy doesn’t think Roman can beat Cesaro? That’s how he feels? Jimmy doesn’t want to make this a thing, but if Roman’s asking… No, he doesn’t. But Jimmy can, right? He can do what Roman does, but better? No, but the Usos together can. Check it! What if the Usos won the tag titles but then Roman loses his Universal title? Wouldn’t that make the Usos the Heads of the Table? Technically, they’d be chiefs! That’s not how it works! That is not their part! Roman is Roman and the Usos are the Usos! Roman is chief and CHAMPION! He puts food on the table and carries this company, a responsibility Jimmy could never handle!
Hold on. Does Jimmy think he can? He really thinks that? He thinks he can do what Roman does? Be the man around here? Then do it! Represent like Roman represents. Put the title on the line against Cesaro tonight! Show the world that he’s the man! Roman will let the whole world see Jimmy can defend against Cesaro. Hell, just show you can beat him, Uce! Can you? Jimmy grins and calls out Cesaro! Cesaro is surely listening, but Jimmy is ready to lock it down! What you say, Uce? Was that good enough, Roman? Jimmy is still smiling, but here comes the Swiss Superman! Cesaro has a nice suit and a mic, but he says challenge accepted!
And Roman, look at Cesaro. Cesaro will beat Jimmy tonight, then Roman on Sunday! Cesaro is ready, despite what Roman says. Jimmy is ready, despite what Roman says. But can Jimmy hang after all the time off? Or will he get into the swing of things thanks to the #1 contender?
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler w/ Reginald VS Natalya & Tamina!
These two teams met at WrestleMania 37 after the Queen of Harts and Daughter of Superfly got through Tag Team Turmoil. They were close but still so far away. Will they finally get these belts off the Irresistible Force & Queen of Spades this close to #WrestleManiaBacklash?
The introductions are made, the belts are raised, and we revisit WrestleMania before the PPV all about revisiting WrestleMania!
The teams sort out, and once again blood battles blood as Tamina and Nia stare down. They circle, Reggie already distracts and Nia attacks! Nia CLUBS Tamina over and over, then looms over her at the ropes.? Nia drags Tamina up to toss her into the corner! Tag to Shayna, they mug Tamina but Tamina fights back! Tamina shoves Nia out, fires off on Shayna, then backs her down to the other corner! BIG uppercut, tag to Natty, then a HEADBUTT and basement dropkick! Cover, TWO! Natty drags Shayna back over, tags Tamina back in, and feeds Shayna to Tamina’s LARIAT! “That’s what you get!” Tamina tags Natty back in, they coordinate, catapult SAMOAN DROP!
Reggie gets on the apron again but the ref tells him to stop! The ref EJECTS Reggie, but he’s still missing Natty cover Shayna! Nia is upset, Tamina attacks her on the ramp! They brawl, Nia fireman’s carries, SAMOAN DROP into barriers! Shayna kicks Natty down, KNEES her in the face, cover, TWO!! The second generation superstars are in a tough spot as SmackDown goes to break!
SmackDown returns and Shayna whips Natty to feed Nia’s scoop SLAM! Nia then runs to drop an elbow! Cover, TWO! Tamina is still down on the outside, Nia dribbles Natty on the mat! Nia shoves Natty to the corner, runs in and HIP ATTACKS! Shayna tags, she drags Natty to a cover, TWO! Natty survives but Shayna wrenches the arm and stands on Natty’s head. The ref reprimands, Shayna locks the arm and STOMPS it! Shayna mocks Natty to go get a tag, then tags in Nia. Shayna feeds Natty to Nia again, then runs, KNEE TO SIDEWALK SLAM! Nia sees Tamina and sends Shayna to get her while Nia covers Natty! But Tamina scoops and SLAMS Shayna onto Nia!
Tamina goes back to the corner and calls to Natty. Natty crawls, hot tags for Tamina and Shayna! Shayna dodges but returns to a scoop! Shayna slips out to Kirafuda! Tamina gets free, runs and FLYING HEADBUTTS! Shayna gets to a corner, Tamina fires up and run sin. Shayna dodges, but Tamina elbows back. Tamina boots but Shayna catches it to twist the foot! Tamina uses power to kick and STOMP Shayna down! Cover, TWO! Tamina drops knees on Shayna, then goes to the corner. Tamina climbs up, but Shayna gets up to KICK her first! Tag to Nia, and Nia hurries to climb up after Tamina! Tamina fights off the superplex and clubs Nia back! Nia throws headbutts and sends Nia down!
Nia staggers, Shayna swipes but Natty trips her up! The Queen of Harts sends the Queen of Spades into barriers with a GERMAN SUPLEX! Nia hits Natty, headbutts Tamina, and drags Natty into a fireman’s carry! SAMOAN DROP! BUT SUPERFLY OUTTA NOWHERE!! Cover, Tamina & Natty win!!

History has been made! Tamina has been 24/7 Champion, but she’s finally got a “major” title under her belt! Kayla Braxton interviews them and congratulates them. Natty says tonight was for anyone who has had a dream but felt like it passed them by. It is NEVER too late to keep fighting for your dreams! Natty is so proud of Tamina, and Tamina is thankful to Natty and the WWE Universe! Tamina is thankful to their families! This is why they do this!
Kayla Braxton intercepts Paul Heyman.
He was headed for Roman’s private suite but she wants a quick word. If Jimmy & Jey did team up and become tag team champions while Roman lost his Universal- Oh stop with the hypotheticals! Here’s the real question! “Mr. Heyman, can Jimmy Uso beat Cesaro tonight?” Heyman doesn’t know, but he does know that Roman can and will defeat Cesaro on Sunday. Thank you for your questions. Heyman goes into Roman’s room and we’ll just have to wait and see on all of that.
Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez are in the ring.
Azeez stands on a podium, colored green and white for Nigeria, as Apollo has a mic and a box in his hand. “Tonight, all of you get to witness a very, very special presentation.” Very triumphant music plays and Apollo says that ever since he became WWE Intercontinental Champion, “the swarm of gnats” attempting to take the title has grown. But time after time after time, his commander has swatted them like the nuisances they are. With the help of Azeez, Apollo has restored glory to this title, and brought honor to Nigeria! There is no end in sight to Apollo’s reign of prosperity! As a matter of fact, Apollo might be Intercontinental Champion for LIFE!
And so, for those acts of bravery and loyalty, Apollo presents Azeez with the most distinguished medal, the Nigerian Medal of Honor! Azeez bows and Apollo puts the medal around his neck. Big E talks from the titantron! “Apollo~! Apollo~! You ain’t gotten rid of me yet!” And what sham is this? This is worse than when Macklemore won best rap album of the year. Apollo better not get comfortable with the title. Because Apollo still has to feel the power~! But wait, Sami Zayn heads out now! Is this not typical Big E behavior? Having to mock and joke? Sami always respects and loves an awards ceremony, though. This isn’t the Sami Awards but-
Apollo tells Sami to shut up. How dare he come out here and disrespect both Apollo and Azeez! Sami says the truth is, there is a bone to pick. Apollo is holding Sami’s Intercontinental Championship. Azeez picks up the podium and TOSSES it out of the ring! Sami wants Azeez to calm down and tells Apollo that if he were a man of honor, he’d give Sami a match so that he can reestablish his status as Champion of the People! But not now, of course. Wait, here comes Kevin Owens! Sami wants everyone to just take a breath, but then he urns into the ring to avoid Kevin! Kevin gives chase, he ends up brawling with Apollo and Azeez!
Apollo fires off haymaker after haymaker, but Big E is here! Big E goes after Azeez, but Azeez throws him out! Big E stays on the apron, Azeez grabs him, but Big E ducks the Nigerian Nail to dump Azeez out! Big E goes after Apollo, Kevin SUPERKICKS him down! And SUPERKICKS Apollo! Sami hits Kevin and now fires off haymakers! Sami goes corner to corner, into a STUNNER! Big E scoops Kevin for the BIG ENDING! Apollo swings, only for Big E to scoop him! Azeez saves Apollo again! Big E says that title is his, but Apollo says it will never be Big E’s again! What will Apollo do to finally exterminate the challengers that are bugging him?
Rey Mysterio w/ Dominik Mysterio VS Dolph Ziggler w/ Robert Roode!
There was a last minute swap between father and son last week, and it paid off! The Show-Off certainly wants redemption, but will the King of Lucha Libre show him up?
SmackDown returns as the SmackDown Tag Team Champions make their entrance. The bell rings and Ziggler circles with Rey. They tie up, Ziggler puts Rey in a corner, but lets off as the ref counts. Ziggler smirks as he and Rey reset. They tie up again, Rey waistlocks but Ziggler gets ropes. The ref counts, Rey lets off and they go again. Ziggler waistlocks, brings Rey around, pulls at the mask but the ref reprimands and counts. Ziggler headlocks, grinds Rey down, but Rey fights up. Rey throws body shots, powers out but Ziggler runs him over! Ziggler swivels hips and fires up as he looms over Rey at the ropes. The ref has Ziggler back away and Rey gets up.
Rey and Ziggler circle, tie up again, and Ziggler headlocks again. Ziggler drags Rey down but Rey gets up. Rey throws body shots, powers out, and things speed up, only for Ziggler to run Rey over! Ziggler talks trash while he puts a headlock back on. Roode talks trash to Dom while Ziggler makes Rey look at him. Ziggler puts Rey on the ropes and grinds his forearms in. “You don’t have what it takes anymore!” Ziggler whips Rey, drops and waistlocks but Rey uses that to send Ziggler out! Rey WRECKS Ziggler with a dropkick, then builds speed to SLIDING TOPE! Both men are down on the outside as SmackDown goes to break!
SmackDown returns again and Ziggler has Rey in a corner. Ziggler throws haymakers, talks more trash, then throws more hands. Rey counter punches! Rey whips, Ziggler reverses but Rey ducks and springboards, only to FLOP off the crossbody! Ziggler grins and Roode says to stay on him! Ziggler stalks Rey to ropes, the ref warns Roode, but Ziggler sits Rey up. Ziggler digs his fingers into the eyeholes of the mask and Rey’s eyes themselves! The ref counts, Ziggler lets off, and he drags Rey up to INVERTED POWERSLAM! Cover, TWO! Ziggler stays on Rey with a chicken wing and chinlock! Rey endures the holds as Ziggler pushes up for leverage.
The fans rally on their ThunderDome screens as Rey fights up. Rey elbows free, throws body shots and even clubs Ziggler’s leg! Rey runs but into a BIG back elbow! Ziggler hobbles over to cover, TWO! Roode is frustrated on Ziggler’s behalf, but Ziggler puts Rey in a grounded Bow ‘n’ Arrow stretch! Rey endures, reaches and gets the ropebreak! Ziggler holds until 4, then stalks Rey to a corner. Ziggler whips Rey corner to corner hard, then runs in, to get a BOOT! Rey uppercuts, headscissors, but Ziggler blocks to bring Rey off the corner! Rey swings to make that a DDT! Both men are down but their tag partners coach them up as fans fire up!
Ziggler and Rey sit up, Ziggler goes to a corner but dodges Rey as he runs in! Rey goes to the apron, shoulders back in, DECKS Ziggler then climbs up! Ziggler hits Rey first! Ziggler climbs, stands on the very top, but Rey fights back with body shots! Rey headbutts Ziggler away, then adjusts to FLYING SEATED SENTON! Rey whips Ziggler, Ziggler sunset flips but Rey rolls through to BUZZSAW! Cover, TWO!! Ziggler survives and Roode panics. Rey dropkicks Ziggler onto ropes and dials it up! 619 misses and Ziggler returns with a FAMOUSER! Cover, TWO!! Ziggler is beside himself as Rey survives but he aims from a corner. Rey dodges the superkick to put Ziggler back on ropes!!
Dial it up, SUPERKICK!!! Ziggler got Rey outta nowhere but he has to crawl to a cover! He gets it, ROPEBREAK!! Ziggler is shocked but Rey’s resilience is part of what made him a legend! Ziggler gets Rey up, scoops and SLAMS him, then vows this is over! Ziggler drags Rey back up, scoops and Rey makes it a cradle!! REY WINS!!

That’s twice the Mysterios have gotten Ziggler! Roode runs in but Dom is there to BLAST him first! Dom and Rey are ready, but will they keep this momentum rolling all the way through Backlash to make history as father and son?

His first Universal Championship opportunity is Sunday, but he must get through Jimmy Uso tonight. What’s his plan of attack for both those matches? It means the world to Cesaro that he has a Universal Championship match. He grew up dreaming of a moment like this, watching WWE in Switzerland. People thought he was crazy to want to go to the US, enter the WWE and become champion. But he always told himself, “I think I can.” When someone doubted him, mocked him, said he can’t, he said, “I think I can.” Cesaro isn’t like Roman Reigns. He wasn’t bred for this business, asking people acknowledge him. He earns it.
And he’s not taking Jimmy lightly. But does Jimmy want to be known as Jimmy Uso, or as Roman’s Cousin? Cesaro doesn’t think he can, he KNOWS he can beat Roman Reigns and earn our acknowledgement as WWE Universal Champion! Will that start with avoiding lockdown tonight?

Kayla congratulates Rey on the win, and Rey says they’re so close to grabbing the titles, he can almost feel it. He and Dom are going to make history together! But here comes Ziggler & Roode. Ziggler told the kid doesn’t belong, so he should just beat it. Daddy got lucky, but on Sunday, the Dawgs take him out for good! So if “Baby Dom” were smart, he wouldn’t even get out of his crib. They can call Dom all the names they want, but on Sunday, he’ll be #BabyChamp! Aw, how cute. The Dawgs say THEY’RE the champs, but will that all change in the most historic way?
Bianca Belair heads to the ring!
The EST SmackDown Women’s Champion is here ahead of her title match at Backlash, and we’ll hear her final thoughts before her match with Bayley, after the break!
SmackDown returns and Michael Cole has joined Bianca in the ring. He can’t believe it’s been four weeks already that she won this title off Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 37. And this Sunday at Backlash is her first title defense against a woman who held the belt for 380 days, the Role Model, Bayley. Bianca wants Cole to remember that she’s the B E S T. When you shine like she shines, you get a whole lotta hate! People have doubted her all her life, but speaking of, where is Bayley? Yes, that is an obvious question after last week.
A recap package reminds us that Bayley talked up then talked down to all the past champions, and even Bianca as the current. Bianca responded, they brawled, and Bayley had the last laugh quite literally. And now in the present, Bayley is here to laugh at Bianca more! Does Bayley like Bianca’s hair? She wants to show Bayley her braid. Where is she, anyway? Far, far away, okay? Via satellite thanks to the technology of 2021! Bianca must be a big idiot if she thinks they’ll be in the same ring after that vicious attack! The next time they’re in the ring together is when they battle at Backlash, and Bayley takes back her title.
Oh, Bayley, you’re so funny. Bayley talks a big game and will do whatever it takes to win, but when Bianca gets her hands on her, it will be the roughEST, the toughEST and the quickEST victory yet! Bayley laughs more, but Bianca says she didn’t want to have to stoop to Bayley’s level. But Bayley keeps coming at her so time to hurt Bayley’s feelings. Bianca says the real reason Bayley is so mad is that she was busy getting thrown down the ramp by the Bellas while Bianca was in the main event and won the title! Bayley isn’t laughing anymore. When Bayley sees Bianca waving her ponytail, shining to get attention, it’s like a look into Bayley’s past.
Bayley wants Bianca to know that from experience, the fairy tale doesn’t end well. Bayley makes sure it ends for good on Sunday. The longEST reigning champion and the newEST champion are going to get serious, but who comes out of Backlash with the belt?
Shinsuke Nakamura VS King Corbin!
The King of Strong Style may have suffered the pinfall at the hands of the Wolf King, but he is not conquered in the least! Will Nakamura show Corbin how different 1v1 is from 5v5?
SmackDown returns as Corbin makes his entrance. The bell rings, Nakamura and Corbin circle. They tie up, Corbin powers Nakamura to a corner but Nakamura powers back. Corbin knees low and hard, then brings Nakamura up to suplex. Nakamura knees free, Corbin ducks a roundhouse but not the HEEL KICK! Nakamura gives Corbin some BAD VIBRATIONS! Corbin staggers, Nakamura runs in but Corbin dodges! Nakamura boots Corbin, hops up, but Corbin DECKS him! Corbin stomps Nakamura, puts him on the ropes and chokes him! The ref counts, Corbin lets off to argue, but then Corbin gets Nakamura up. Nakamura fires body shots, runs but into a kitchen sink!
Corbin gets Nakamura’s arms and throws down elbows! Ghost pin, TWO! Corbin argues the count but the ref says it was fair. Corbin looms over Nakamura with a grin, then drags him up to a facelock. Corbin whips, Nakamura ducks and dodges to DYNAMIC DROPKICK! Both men are down but the ThunderDome rallies up. Nakamura fires off a strike fest, ducks Corbin’s counter and fires off kicks! Corbin blocks one but not the ENZIGURI! Nakamura gets Corbin up, whips him but Corbin reverses. Corbin runs in, but Nakamura dodges. Corbin slides out, slides in, swings but into a takedown! ARMBAR!! Corbin fights to get up but ends up in a triangle hold!
Corbin powers up to dead lift Nakamura but Nakamura throws hands! Nakamura drags Corbin down but Corbin makes it a cover, Corbin wins!!

And then Corbin throws Nakamura out so he can celebrate! Corbin demands his crown back, and he puts it on, only to turn around into a ROUNDHOUSE!! And a KINSHASA!! Nakamura has knocked Corbin’s crown off his head! And then steps on him to go to the crown itself! Nakamura wants the crown for his own! He pretends it’s very heavy, but he still gets it on his head! Will Nakamura truly become the King of WWE soon enough?

But then Apollo and Azeez barge in! What kind of leaders are they?! Did they not see what happened to Apollo and Azeez? “How can you allow those idiots to interrupt my sacred Nigerian ceremony?!” He demands consequences! What is Pearce going to do about it? Well the plan was to figure out who faces Apollo next week for the Intercontinental Championship. What?! They’re going to be rewarded?! That is outrageous! Sonya tells Apollo to be careful, or else Pearce might end up making Apollo face them all at once like he did Roman. Just saying. Pearce says that’s a great idea! It will be a Fatal 4 Way for the championship next week!
Apollo says Pearce is out of his mind! But he and Azeez leave, and Pearce tells Sonya not to undermine him in front of the superstars. The tension in the management aside, will Apollo survive when Big E, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn all come for the title at once?
SmackDown returns and Nakamura models the crown.
He seems to like how he looks with it on, even if it was made for Corbin. Will Corbin come back to get that one? Or use that money he brags about to buy a better one?
Aleister Black shares Chapter 3 from Tales of the Dark Father.

Because I was chosen. I saw greatness and I chose it, while you chose the archetype.” But it’s easier to take a seat and watch life happen rather than fight through it. Aleister could help us, teach us The Lesson, but he won’t. “Because you’re not a participant. You’re a spectator.” Will SmackDown have no choice but to watch what Aleister has in store for us next?

What’s going through his mind just moments before his first match in over a year? Well this isn’t his idea. He thought his first match back would be alongside Jey, and they’d do what they do. Because as far as Jimmy is concerned, the Usos are the hottest tag team the WWE Universe has ever seen! But now, he’s not so sure. Roman Reigns is playing around. Jimmy was home as he saw Jey do all the work for Roman. Roman says he doesn’t need Jey to have success. Well Jey doesn’t need Roman, either! Jimmy knows Jey doesn’t think that but Jimmy does. Jimmy knows the brothers will be fine, so long as Roman stays out of it.
But what’s better than WWE tag team champions and Roman being Universal Champion? Roman wants to see what Jimmy can do to Cesaro. Well let’s get it! Jimmy makes his entrance first, can Jimmy break through to both Jey and Roman and make them see things his way? Or will he just be a pawn in Roman’s game with another of his challengers?

SmackDown returns and the bell rings. Jimmy and Cesaro tie right up, go around, and Jimmy wrenches to a wristlock. Cesaro rolls, handsprings, breaks free and dropkicks Jimmy down! Cesaro welcomes Jimmy back but Jimmy keeps his cool. They tie up, Jimmy headlocks but Cesaro changes it to his headlock. Jimmy powers out but Cesaro runs him over. Things speed up, Jimmy leaps but into a POWERSLAM! Cover, TWO! Jimmy gets to a corner but Cesaro waits on him. Jimmy rushes into a waistlock, Cesaro whips him to a corner, but Jimmy goes up and over. The leg bothers him, that’s why he was out for so long.
But Jimmy was suckering Cesaro in! Mule kick, whip and SAMOAN DROP! Jimmy grins as he covers, TWO! Jimmy clubs away on Cesaro, then wraps on a chinlock. Cesaro whips Jimmy corner to corner, runs in but Jimmy dodges and POSTS Cesaro! Cesaro staggers, Jimmy clotheslines him out of the ring! Jimmy builds speed to DIVE! Direct hit for the first time in over a year! Jimmy clutches his leg and this time it might be a bit more real. Both men are down at the ramp while SmackDown goes to break!
SmackDown returns once more and Cesaro fires body shots on Jimmy in a corner, then throws in EuroUppers! The ref backs Cesaro off but he runs to DISCUS! Cover, TWO!! Jimmy is still in this but Cesaro reels him in. Jimmy back drops, Cesaro lands on his feet, springboard into a SUPERKICK! Cover, TWO!! Cesaro survives and gets to a corner. Jimmy runs in, HIP ATTACK! Cover, TWO! Jimmy keeps his focus and goes to a corner. Cesaro is down as Jimmy climbs up, but Cesaro gets up to EuroUpper! Cesaro climbs to join Jimmy, brings him up, and SUPERPLEXES! Both men are down, fans fire up, but Cesaro crawls to a cover, TWO!!
Cesaro shakes out the cobwebs while checking the count. Jimmy survives, drags himself over to ropes, but Cesaro stalks over. Cesaro goes out after Jimmy, aims from the apron, and leaps to CANNONBALL! Fans fire up with Cesaro, but he isn’t done there! He runs in and EuroUppers Jimmy into barriers! Jimmy wobbles, Cesaro puts him in the ring, and ROMAN ATTACKS!
Winner: Cesaro, by disqualification
Roman POSTS Cesaro, then throws him over the announce desk! “I TOLD YOU! I RUN THIS BITCH!” Jimmy is upset, Roman just had to make this about him. Jimmy had Cesaro but then Roman and Jey get in the ring. Jimmy goes to leave, Roman says this isn’t about Jimmy. No one cares if Jimmy wins! Jimmy says he was gonna win. Roman says no one cares about the little matches. This is about the big money matches!! That is how they keep the family on top, and how Roman keeps them on top! UNDERSTAND THAT!
So it’s about Roman? Not this time! Cesaro gets after Jey with EuroUppers! Jimmy and Roman still argue, but then Roman runs in to CLOBBER Cesaro! Roman asks what Jimmy is doing outside. Get inside and help! But Cesaro EuroUppers Roman! And again! And kicks low, to reel him in! Jey attacks and saves Roman! Jey rains down rights on Cesaro, then tells Jimmy to get in here so they can end this! But Cesaro EuroUppers away on Jey! And BOOTS Jimmy! Roman retreats but Cesaro gets Jey back up! “This is gonna be you this Sunday!” Gotch, hold NEUTRALIZER!! Cesaro dares Roman to do something for his family, but Roman stays put on the ramp!
Cesaro drags Jey up and reels him back in. Another Gotch hold, another NEUTRALIZER!! Does Jey not matter to Roman? Cesaro says this will be Roman’s fate at Backlash! Will Cesaro prove he’s worthy by earning the top spot?
My Thoughts:
SmackDown avoids Go-Home Syndrome because this was a pretty great night! There were recap packages that kinda had to be mentioned, but it was actually because they were worked into segments much more organically than just starting the night with one or throwing over to a “Progressive Match Flow” to fill between segments. Bianca’s segment having that was good, and it was a good segment even without the recap, as Bianca throws Bayley’s segment with the Bellas in her face, but also for Bayley saying she had the same experience as a ponytail Babyface. Their match is going to be awesome and could be a show stealer just on the in-ring, but I would think Bianca wins.
It is so great that Natalya & Tamina won the Women’s Tag Titles tonight. Nia & Shayna had a strong run but the last few months have been the downhill part, so it was good to get these titles onto a new team now. Tamina & Natty can carry the titles through into the Summer, and maybe all the way to SummerSlam, whenever and wherever that will be. Nia & Shayna can still stick together since the RawDown Women’s Tag Division still needs teams, but this can also free them up for a story about “Who goes after the Raw Women’s Championship first?” The dysfunction element that helped Shayna & Nia work before as characters can come back and keep them going a little longer.
On the SmackDown Tag Team Championship scene, I’m a little surprised we didn’t get Rey VS Roode as the flipside to Dom VS Dolph, but I suppose since we were “meant” to get Rey VS Dolph, we were still going to get that. Ziggler losing again might mean history isn’t made at Backlash, which is a shame, but maybe WWE decides to surprise us and make Backlash noteworthy again. Apollo giving Azeez a kayfabe medal seemed like a nice touch, it allows both of them to have something to boast about. I also like that the Intercontinental Championship match is happening next week, in a Fatal 4 as expected.
As I said before, this can help keep everyone fairly strong, even if Apollo retains, and maybe, just maybe, it gets Sami and Kevin on the same side again. As much as Jimmy wants to reunite with Jey and go for the tag titles, Sami and Kevin joining up could really get the SmackDown Tag Division going because it is surely something all the Sami and Kevin fans have wanted to see for some time. Nakamura VS Corbin, King VS King, is a very natural move, though obviously this first match was just an appetizer. I don’t know if this will spark a 2021 King of the Ring tournament, but with Nakamura snatching Corbin’s literal crown, at least make it a Ladder Match, winner takes the crown.
We got great stuff out of the ever expanding Universal Championship/Roman Reigns story. I feel like Jimmy already having a Jimmy Uso “Nobody’s Bitch” shirt is a sign he isn’t going to convince Jey of anything, but it’s a good detail. Jimmy calling out Cesaro in an indirect move for the Head of the Table is a great detail. I find it intriguing that he’s trying to get the others to be reasonable, and is of course finding resistance from Roman. Cesaro VS Jimmy was a great main event, a great return for Jimmy, and the ending segment was great for Cesaro because he took the fight to the Bloodline again, and looked like he actually got Roman to be wary.
With Cesaro standing tall, the math says Roman wins on Sunday, and there’s a good chance he does with Jey still being loyal. I think it’d be creative to have Jimmy try and stop Jey, and that distraction in itself is how Cesaro loses. Cesaro has been working so hard for so long, it would be a shame if he loses, but Roman’s story is still that strong. As for Jimmy, they could bring this full circle by having Roman VS Jimmy like Jey did at Hell in a Cell, and that could be the moment of truth for Jey. Jey saving Jimmy from Roman like he couldn’t do in October would definitely get a pop from fans, live or otherwise, and that’d help the Usos skyrocket right back into the tag title scene.

One of the men to main event the original Worlds Collide in 1994 is honored to call this event for the English commentary. 30 years ago, the world was introduced to Rey Mysterio and a whole generation of lucha libre, and now it happens again!

Rey Mysterio heads to the ring!
This may not be San Diego, but Los Angeles fires up for the King of Lucha and WWE Hall of Famer. He was even awarded with the Legend Impact Award by the National Hispanic Media Council just last night, and Rey is now here to bring his career full circle. Rey has the mic, and he admires the logos together. He says how incredible it is to see these two together. Rey asks how LA is doing, and the fans cheer. They chant “LUCHA! LUCHA!” and Rey says that 31 years ago, here in LA, it was the first-ever Worlds Collide. That was 1994! Yeah, a long time ago. And that was Rey’s first time jumping to the WWE.
The fans chant, “You Deserve It!” Rey thanks them for that, and says he thought that then, lucha libre would only be seen in Mexico. But he is blessed and proud to see the evolution and to be part of it! And now, WWE and AAA are going to only grow lucha libre! The fans cheer for “MEXICO! MEXICO!” and Rey says the entire world will now see and know the one thing he fell in love with as a kid: true lucha libre! The fans cheer that! How high and how far can WWE y AAA go now that they’re together?

Rey Mysterio’s amigos in the Latino World Order are here, but there unfortunately a last-minute substitution. Joaquin Wilde got knocked for a loop on WWE Speed, so he is out of action for tonight as precaution. But the Golden Lynx is ready to help the LWO make this a Lucha House Party! Will it be a fiesta for all after this huge opening match?

The fans cheer as the six men have a stare down before they sort out. Octagon starts against Cruz and they step up. They get fire dup, shake hands, and then circle. They tie up, Cruz waistlocks, but Octagon wrenches and wristlocks to then hammerlock. Cruz works on his escape, sits down, rolls, btu Octagon rolls with him. Cruz reaches back, then hits a flying-mare! They go again with knuckle locks, Cruz gets Octagon down then jumps up, but Octagon uses that to fling himself up! He balances on Cruz’s shoulders, sunset flips, TWO! Cruz headlocks, Octagon powers up and out, but Cruz RUNS him over! The fans fire up with Cruz as things speed up.
Octagon avoids a leg drop, Cruz avoids a penalty kick, but Octagon jackknife bridges! TWO as Cruz bridges up, spins things around, and then they both try to arm-drag! Octagon switches angles to arm-drag, but then Cruz arm-drags back! Sweep and cover, ONE! Octagon sweeps and covers, ONE! They both spring up and the fans cheer! Octagon and Cruz decide to back up, tags to Iguana and Lince! The fans fire up as these two very different animals meet, and the fans love “IGUANA! IGUANA!” They circle, tie up, and Lince waistlocks. Iguana switches, Lince whips and WRINGS the arm! Lince rolls to arm-drag, then kips up!
The fans cheer and Lince offers a handshake. Iguana stands, is a little confused by the hand, but Lince kicks low. Lince headlocks, Iguana powers up and out, hurdles, but Lince CHOPS! The fans cheer while Iguana is stuck playing dead. Lince drags him up, whips him, but Iguana rolls off Lince’s back! Tilt-o-whirl arm-drag! The fans cheer, Iguana smiles and points to Aerostar. Iguana instead goes to his stuffed animal, La Yesca! Iguana puppets Yesca, Lince takes a swing, but Yesca “bites” Lince’s hand! Iguana ARABIAN PRESS ARM-DRAGS! Then hurdles, rolls back, and he has Yesca in his mouth to hit another ARABIAN PRESS ARM-DRAG!
Lince comes back, tilt-o-whirls to arm-drag, then sweep! Cover, ONE! Sweep, Yesca covers, ONE! Iguana rolls and sits cross-legged! Lince pets Iguana, then scolds Yesca. The fans cheer “IGUANA! IGUANA!” The two back off, and they tag Aerostar and Dragon Lee! The fans rally up as these two meet after all this time. They shake hands, tie up, and Lee headlocks. Aero powers up and out, Lee RUNS him over, then things speed up. Lee hurdles, facelocks, Aero wrenches but Lee wrenches back. Aero dodges a boot to CHOP! Aero then ducks ‘n’ dodges to RANA! But Lee handsprings through! They tie up again, Lee snapmares but Aero handsprings through!
Aero drop toeholds Lee onto the ropes, runs and FLIPS up and over! The fans fire up as Aero then ROCKS Lee, but Lee bumps and ROCKS Aero back! Lee goes up, Aero GAMANGIRIS first! Aero goes up, up, and TORNILLO! Cover, TWO! Lee stays in this and the fans fire up again! Aero runs up, Lee pops him up to SUPERKICK! Aero staggers around, Lee builds speed, but Aero DUMPS Lee out! Aero’s team come sin, they dodge Cruz y Lince to DOUBLE RANA them out! The fans fire up as the trio builds speed! Iguana y Octagon DOUBLE FLY! Then Aero DIVES! Down goes LWO and the fans fire up!
“This is Awesome!” as Aero puts Lee in the ring. Aero goes up, up, and salutes for a DIVING SPLASH, but onto knees! Cover, TWO! Lee drags Aero over, tags Cruz, and they bring Aero around to whip. Cruz ELBOWS Aero down, then tags Lince before the LIONSAULT! Lince runs to PLANKING SPLASH! Cover, TWO! Lince has Aero’s arm but Aero fires forearms! Aero swings, but Lince CLAWS his back to then BACKSTABBER! Cover, TWO! Aero is tougher than that, but Lince tags Lee. They stomp Aero, then Lee hits a back suplex. Aero lands out, Lee BOOTS the lariat to JUMP KNEE! Lee runs, into a DROPKICK! Both men are down and the fans fire up!
Aero and Lee crawl, hot tags to Cruz and Iguana! Iguana dodges to fire hands but Cruz gives them back! Iguana CHOPS, Cruz is stinging, but Cruz CHOPS back! Cruz whips, Iguana reverses, but Cruz goes up and out! Cruz goes up, leaps, Iguana gets under! Iguana kicks and runs, but Cruz dropkicks the legs out! Cruz hits the LA MAGISTROL, with extra rolls! The go around and around and the fans fire up! Cover, TWO!! Iguana survives but both he and Cruz are dizzy. Cruz grabs Iguana first, reels him in, suplexes, but Iguana slips out to then jump on! Lince stops Yesca, but Iguana goes up, up, and lets Lince hold Yesca to FLYING RANA Cruz! Lince stomps Yesca! And drops an ELBOW! And a STANDING SPANISH FLY!! The fans boo Lince for that, but Iguana runs to tilt-o-whirl and DEJA VU RANA! The fans fire up and Iguana use Yesca to LASH the LWO! The fans cheer, but now the LWO corner Iguana. Now it’s hot potato with Yesca! Then TRIPLE SUPERKICKS for Iguana! Aero y Octagon get in, but Lince gives them double STUNNERS! They put Iguana up top, GAMANGIRI, and Tree of Woe! WOE STOMPS! Lee then FLIES to take out Octagon! Lince SHOOTING STAR onto Iguana! Cover, Aero SPLASHES it apart!
Lince TOSSES Aero, the fans rally up again, and Cruz tags Lince. Iguana tags Octagon and he GAMANGIRIS Lince! Octagon goes up, but so does Lince! Octagon SHOVES Lince, Lince lands out and GAMANGIRIS back! Lince then goes up, up, and SUPER DUPER RANAS!! Aero runs springboards, somersaults, and CUTTERS! Lee SUPERKICKS Aerostar! Score one for AAA! The first match of Worlds Collide 2025 sure sets a high bar! But then Dirty Dom has to ruin the mood by talking. Dom says Octagon happens to be a big Rey Mysterio fan. But Rey is a deadbeat while Dom is champion! Dom tells everyone that their hero is TRASH! Octagon gets in Dom’s face, Dom tells him off that he is the champion, and the best Mysterio! But then Dom shoves Octagon, so Octagon crags Dom into the ring! The fire up as it is a brawl! Refs rush in to stop this but fans chant, “LET THEM FIGHT! LET THEM FIGHT!” Dom and Octagon get loose and Dom TACKLES Octagon!
Iguana & Aero star get Octagon away from Dom, Dom says he’ll see Octagon at MITB! WHAT!? A last minute fifth match is added to MITB! Dom says he’ll make sure he even puts his title on the line! See you tonight! Is Dom serious? Is he really going to put his Intercontinental Championship on the line when he’s the one who started this fight? Will he come to regret it?

Just look at them! They are ready for war! All these AAA guys will learn who owns Lucha Libre. Angel says tonight is about legacy, and about establishing it. Santos says since Chuey is asking such interesting questoins, he will explain. The WWE patch means something. With lucha libre and WWE, it can be represented only by Legado. And Santos is the commander of Legado! So his familia is going to prove THEY own lucha libre. FAMILIA! LEGADO!

The Dark Angel is going to be very busy in the City of Angels today. She has been waiting on this tag match alongside her amiga against two of AAA’s best and meanest stars. But then win, lose or draw, Vaquer is going to move on from here to be in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match! But if anyone can do it, will it be La Primera? Or is this what you’d call a trap game?
The teams sort out and Vaquer starts against Dalys. They circle, tie up, and Dalys shoves Vaquer! Vaquer runs up, rolls and bridges, ONE! The two stand up, Dalys SOBATS, then gut rwenches to a gory especial and backslide! TWO, Vaquer bridges up to sunset flip over, TWO! Vaquer wrenches, snapmares, and she smiles as she headscissors! The fans fire up as Vaquer turns over, but Dalys deadlifts Vaquer! The fans boo but Dalys THROWS Vaquer into the corner! Dalys kicks her, tags Chika, and then feed to the wheelbarrow, WHEELBARROW BULLDOG! Cover, TWO! Chika drags Vaquer up, whips, but Vaquer reverses.

Chuey is now with the captain of Team American Made, and he brings up the unsavory things Gable has said about luchadores and Mexico. Now he goes into the lion’s den here in LA, going against THE AAA Mega Champion, El Hijo Del Vikingo. How is Gable feeling about his chances? gable says, “Lion’s den? Are you kidding? This is like a second home to me!” Gable admits the luchadores might not like him, but surely the people still love him! They’ve seen the journey he went on to conquer the “dark arts” of lucha. They have embraced him and that he embodies the spirit of lucha libre! Not only Gable, but also the greatst luchador ever, El Grande Americano!

Pagano kicks and whips Angel, Angel reverses, but Pagano Tiger Feints and dodges! UPPERCUT, roll and a return with the LARIAT! he fans fire up as Pagano builds speed, but Santos saves Berto while Angel holds the ropes open! Pagano crashes ‘n’ burns! The fans boo but Legado stand tall to soak up that heat. Angel KICKS Pagano, puts him in the ring and covers, TWO! Pagano shows that toughness and the fans chant, “SI SE PUEDES!” Angel whips Pagano to then ELBOW him down! Tag to Santos and Santos tags Berto. They drag Pagano to the apron, Angel runs and Legado TRIPLE KICK! The fans boo while Legado soak it up again.
Berto pushes Pagano in and covers, TWO! Berto scoops Pagano to SLAM him, then rolls back to MOONSAULT! Cover, TWO! Berto argues the count but the ref defends it was fair. Berto drags Pagano over, puts him on ropes, and CHOKES him! The ref counts, Berto stops at 4, but that lets Angel y Santos mug Pagano on the ropes! The fans boo more but Berto then BLASTS Psycho Clown y Wagner III! Berto tags Santos, they drag Pagano and stomp him down. Santos drags Pagano up, snapmares, and the fans rally. Santos has the double wristlock but Pagano fires body shots! Pagano ROCKS Santos, ELBOWS him, then runs, BLOCKBUSTER!
The fans rally while both men are down! Pagano crawls, but Santos drags him back! Pagano turns over, and he KICKS from below! Hot tags to Berto and Psycho Clown! Psycho rallies with BIG forearms! Then he dodges Berto to POP-UP POWERSLAM! Angel runs in, Psycho pops him up to hit buckles! LARIAT and then Psycho puts Angel up top! Psycho CLUBS Angel into the Tree of Woe! Psycho Clown runs corner to corner and DROPKICKS! He also BLASTS Santos, and hits CODE RED on Berto! Cover, TWO! The fans rally with Psycho Clown as he and Berto crawl. Hot tags to Santos and Wanger! And the CHOPS fly!
The fans fire up, Santos mule kicks and whips, but Wagner ducks ‘n’ dodges to LARIAT! Berto runs up, Wagner dodges to CHOP, HEADBUTT, and DRAGON SCREW! Angel is up but Wagner blocks a kick! DRAGON SCREW! The fans fire up as Wagner and team get in! Pagano builds speed to DIVE! Down goes Angel! Then Psycho y Wagner FLY! Down go Santos and Berto! The fans fire up while all six men are down! “This is Awesome!” as Wagner and team regroup in the ring. Santos and Los Garza regroup on the other side, and the trios stare down. The fans rally up, and now IT’S A BRAWL! Konnan says he loves this!
The Garzas take out Pagano and Psycho clown, but Wagner SUPERKICKS Santos! STEP-UP KNEE, and the deadlift for the FALCON ARROW! Cover, Angel breaks it! The fans boo but Santos tags Berto. Los Garza hoist Wagner up top, then Berto CHOPS! Tag to Angel, and Los Garza goes up top. Santos sneaks a tag, and Wagner is thrown from M T Y!! But Pagano y Psycho BLAST Los Garza! APRON PSYCHO DRIVER!! Angel fights off Pagano to ARIHARA MOONSAULT Psycho Clown! But Pagano goes up, up, and SUPER CROSSBODIES Angel! Those four are down outside, Wanger BOOTS Santos!
Wagner goes out and he lines up a shot! Wagner runs in, goes up the steps, CANNONBALL! The fans fire up and Wagner puts Santos in. Cover, Angel breaks it! Psycho SUPERKICKS Angel, reels him in, and then SIT-OUT POWERBOMBS! But Berto runs in and FLYING CHUCK! But Pagano is up top, he FLYING CODE BREAKERS! Angel runs at Pagano to HEADBUTT!! Both men fall out of the ring, Santos sees Berto and calls to him. Berto runs up and he TACKLES Psycho & Pagano through barriers! The fans fire up while all four are down on the outside again! But that means it is just Santos and Wagner III!
Santos grins, but he doesn’t see it coming! BUSAIKU KNEE!! Cover, TWO!!! Santos survives, but Wagner isn’t done! Wagner puts Santos in the drop zone and shouts, “VIVA LA RAZA!” The fans cheer that, and for “EDDIE! EDDIE!” Wagner goes up top, but Santos GAMANGIRIS! Santos goes up, Wagner fires forearms in return! They brawl, Santos hits a flurry, but Wagner brings Santos up top! Santos SUPER DUPER RANAS!! Cover, TWO!!! Wanger survives and Santos is furious! The fans fire up with Fenix and he runs up to kick low. Fenix runs and RANAS, but Je’Von handsprings through! The fans fire up and the two talk a bit of smack. But then Ethan SHOVES Fenix into Je’Von! Ethan stomps away on Fenix, stomps away on Je’Von, and soaks up heat. But Laredo shoves Ethan, ducks ‘n’ dodges to RANA! Fenix is up, he BOOTS Laredo then goes up to FLYING RANA! Fenix swings on Ethan, Ethan dodges, and Ethan RANAS?! Ethan grins and takes a mocking bow. But Je’Von comes back to BOUNCY~ RANA! Then DROPKICK! Ethan tumbles out, the fans fire up, and Je’Von aims. But Fenix CHOPS first!
Fenix whips, Je’Von reverses, but Fenix goes Tiger Feint and rewind, HEEL KICK! The fans fire up as Je’Von tumbles away! Fenix says #ANIMO and he goes up the corner! The fans fire up but Laredo ROCKS Fenix first! Ethan grabs Laredo, Laredo kicks him away, and then Laredo goes up to ARIHARA MOONSAULT onto Ethan and Je’Von! The fans fire up as Laredo CLUBS Ethan, but Fenix aims now! Fenix builds speed to TORNILLO! The fans are thunderous with Fenix, he puts Ethan in, and Fenix steps in for the TORNADO DDT! Cover, TWO! The fans rally up, Fenix puts Ethan up top, but Je’Von ROUNDHOUSES Fenix! The fans want tables but Je’Von climbs up after Ethan. Je’Von points to a table and the fans fire up! Je’Von puts Laredo in the Tree of Woe, runs, but has to dodge Ethan first! BOUNCY~ SNAP GERMAN! The fans fire up as Je’Von shakes the ropes! Je’Von builds speed and he FLIES! Down goes Ethan onto the Spanish desk!! The fans go nuts and luckily Spanish commentary is safe. Je’Von goes up, up, and he wants to go RVD with it! COAST 2 COAST!! But Fenix whips Je’Von, only for the RED DOT ENZIGIRI to hit! Then a springboard, FLYING CUTTER!! cover, ETHAN DRAGS JE’VON AWAY!! The fans boo but Ethan saves his reign! Je’Von is pissed, he rains down fists on Ethan, but Ethan SNAPS the ropes into him!
The fans boo as Ethan THROWS Je’Von into Laredo! Ethan flops into the ring, drags Fenix up, and he talks trash on Fenix. But Fenix whips and DROPKICKS! Ethan is stuck on the ropes, Fenix goes up, ADIOS AMIGOS! But Laredo is back! Fenix dodges to ENZIGIRI! Laredo falls, Fenix goes up, and he FLYING ARM-DRAGSÂ into the DOUBLE STOMPS! The fans fire up with Fenix, but Je’Von is back! Fenix slips around, ripcord and ROUNDHOUSE! KICK! KICK! ENZIGIRI!! Je’Von wobbles, Fenix shouts, “VIVA MEXICO!” Fireman’s carry, FIRE THUNDER DRIVER!! WWE may lead the little series here 3-1, but this is the one that matters most. It was just last Saturday that Vikingo took this title off of Alberto Del Rio, adding to the stakes of this title. Gable has been on a quest to understand the “dark arts” of lucha libre, has sacrificed to become stronger and stronger, and now not only wants to win his first singles title, but to take over an entire country’s tradition! The Visionary is just one of the six men in this year’s Money in the Bank Ladder match, and he of course has Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker & “Big” Bronson Reed with him. The fans sing along, “WHOA~ OH~ OHH~!” and Rollins revels in it as he stands in the ring in his all indigo suit with gold necklace. The fans also bark for Bron, and others get an “O T C!” chant and a “C M PUNK!” chant going. Rollins is handed the mic by The Wise Man to say, “Bakersfield… I am a Visionary. I am a Revolutionary. I am… SETH! FREAKIN’! ROLLINS!” The fans do cheer, and Rollins vows that tomorrow night, HE TAKES EVERYTHING!
Rollins points to the briefcases up above and the fans are torn. Rollins says when he wins the MITB contract, he will have ABSOLUTE POWER, and he will have TOTAL CONTROL over this entire industry! Rollins paces while the fans chant for “O T C! O T C!” Rollins says yeah, no, he can’t hear you. That guy is off on the Island of Irrelevancy where Rollins put him after WrestleMania! But that total control Rollins will have doesn’t just mean Raw. It will include SmackDown, as well! So they are here to deliver a message! Anyone who stands in their way will suffer the same fate as anyone who has already stood in their way.
“Sami Zayn stood in our way. He’s in the dirt. CM Punk stood in our way. POOF! Gone! Roman Reigns stood in our way, and he is Missing In Action. Roman Reigns is not coming to save you. Roman Reigns doesn’t care about you! Roman Reigns has never cared about you! But y’know who has?! You know who has?! SETH FREAKIN’ ROLLINS!” The fans are again torn, but Rollins says he will drag all of you, kicking and screaming if he has to, into the future because that is what Rollins does. Not just for himself, not just for his group, but for the entire industry! And there is NOBODY who can stop him!
Wait! Here comes Solo Sikoa and his “family.” The fans actually cheer as Solo, JC Mateo & Jacob Fatu head to the ring. Rollins and his faction stand their ground as Solo grabs a mic and leads the way for his rogues into the ring. The fans cheer on “FATU! FATU!” and Solo says, “You said that, uh, if anybody gets in your way, that you’re gonna lay ’em out?” Rollins says, “That’s right.” And that there is nobody here to stop him? That’s also right. Well, uh, Solo’s team is standing here right now. Oh, is that so? Solo says by the looks of it, Rollins has his own little “Bloodline” going on. Which one is Bron supposed to be? The Right Hand Man, Jey Uso? “YEET!”
Then does that make Bronson the “Honorary Uce?” After everything they’ve been through… Bronson was on Solo’s side for WarGames! And now, he no calls, then shows up and teams up with this guy? But Rollins even has The Wise Man. Speaking of, long time no see, Heyman. Rollins tells Solo to choose his next words very carefully. Solo laughs that off, and says let’s cut to the chase. All we know is, tomorrow night, Solo climbs the ladder, grabs the contract, and then all that power and control Rollins talked about will all be Solo’s. Rollins laughs that off and says he sees. This is Solo’s turf, he is pushing back.
Is Solo threatened because Bron Breakker is the future of this industry and Solo is not? Is he threatened that Bronson Reed could squash Solo like a bug at the snap of Rollins’ fingers? Well, Solo should be worried. But he should really be worried about the fact that Solo’s own family would rather stab him in the back than have his back. Rollins looks at The Samoan Werewolf, and says, “What’s up, Jacob? You look like you wanna say something. C’mon, take the mic from Solo. You gonna let Solo talk for you?” Solo tells Rollins to shut up. Rollins says Fatu is the werewolf, but there could be a new nickname for him, like “Solo’s B*tch.”
The fans fire up and Rollins says hey, in all seriousness, it took a lot of guts for Solo to come out here and talk to him. Solo is threatened by Rollins, while Rollins is threatened by one Fatu in here, and it ain’t Solo. Rollins smiles, the fans cheer Fatu on, but Solo takes off his jacket. Piper storms her way over, and SMACK! Kendo stick! Zelina uses Chelsea’s tricks against her, SMACK and SMACK for Piper! Piper grabs the stick to HEADBUTT Zelina! Piper snarls and storms up to bring Zelina around. Piper scoops, but Zelina slips free!
Zelina has the stick again! SMACK! Zelina then adds a CODE BREAKER! Cover, TWO! Piper is tougher than that but she bails out of the ring. The fans rally for Zelina and call for tables. After that, they handle tomorrow. YEET? YEET! Jey heads out, but will he and Cody handle business? Or will they get handled instead?

You said third time’s the charm?” “YEAH!” “Whatcha think, third time’s the charm?” “YEAH!” Knight ain’t satisfied with that. He looks at five guys running out here, like Penta. We like Penta, right? He’ll do everything under the sun to try and reach up and grab that case. “YEAH!”
There’s Andrade. They like him a bit, right? Another guy who’s gonna do every possible thing he can to get up there. Well, everyone’s gonna do everything they can, but those guys take it to another level. But those guys, we respect them a little bit, but then we get to the “Goons.” Then we get to… El Grande Americano Chad Gable. The fans are torn and Knight asks him which is it? Do we like him or not? The fans are still conflicted, but Knight says dummy number two is Solo Sikoa. Everyone hates him! Knight feels the same! And Solo, they’ve done this a million times, and Knight can drop him on his head one more time to climb up the ladder and take the briefcase.
But then there’s dummy number three. Knight thinks about a men he hasn’t really had interactions with, a man who has gotten crewed up and that is Seth Rollins. The fans are torn again, but Knight says Rollins has been here, done that, had the case and cashed in. He wants to #BurnItDown! But Rollins has to understand that there is nothing hotter than a night in LA with LA Knight, YEAH! And what that means Rollins won’t be burning anything done, ROLLINS gets burned down by this man, YEAH! Before that, we have tonight, Aleister Black. Aleister had a shot, and Knight understands. This is a big deal! MITB is a big deal!
MITB can make or break careers, so Knight gets why Aleister’s feelings got hurt when Knight “stole” the win. But it was a Triple Threat, Knight had to do what he had to do and got the job done. If that hurt Aleister’s feeling, sorry. But now he’s set himself up to get those feelings hurt one more time, YEAH! And you know that coming into California, Bakersfield, Aleister will be home on Saturday watching whose game this is, with everybody saying L! A! KNIGHT! YEAH!! But then Aleister makes his entrance. Will the Mega Star still shine? Or is he about to #FadeToBlack? We find out, after the break.

The fans cheer as they go around and around and make a full lap! And then they keep going! They finally stay in a corner, the ref counts, and Knight slowly lets off. Aleister shoves, Knight shoves, and Aleister hits a headlock takeover. Aleister grinds Knight down but Knight fights up. The fans rally, Knight stands up and fires body shots. Knight powers up and out, then he CLOBBERS Aleister! The fans rally, Knight stomps Aleister, and then stalks him. Knight brings Aleister up, snap suplexes, then covers, ONE!! The tournament begins with four Fatal 4 Way matches in the men’s and women’s divisions, and the winners advance.” Aldis says from there, it is a co-branded single elimination tournament with the semifinals and finals. Those finals take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for Night of Champions. And the stakes could not be higher!
The King and Queen of the Rings get title matches on their respective brands for the biggest show of the summer, SummerSlam! Aldis & Pearce wish everyone luck, and may the best man and woman win. With so many spots open, who gets in, and who makes it to the Night of Champions?

Byron Saxton is with The Storm, and knows that while she would’ve loved to been in MITB, how good does it feel to know she is in the Queen of Ring? Jade says it feels great. She understands she won’t have the chance to climb the ladder and grab the briefcase, but she’ll keep climbing the ranks. She is The Storm, she is in that tournament, and when the dust settles, she will be Queen of the Ring. Then at SummerSlam, she won’t ask for a belt, she’ll take it. On a different note, we saw Bianca Belair refuse to forgive Naomi, but where do things stand between Biansa and Jade? Well, Charlotte Flair walks in and tells Jade as a reminder: Salt and sugar look the same.
That is to say, choose your friends wisely, or don’t have any at all. And as for QOTR, Jade will need a prayer to win. There is only ONE Queen in the WWE. But then Tiffany Stratton walks by and tells them both good luck with that. The WWE Women’s Champion heads to gorilla, what will she have to say the night before a new Miss MITB is crowned?

He is a bit disappointed he didn’t qualify for MITB, but the WWE found a “suitable replacement” for him in the greatest luchador of all time, El Grande Americano! As for Gable, he will put himself in the history books when he beats Vikingo and win the most prestigious title in all of lucha libre! But then in walks Andrade. El Idolo says in Espanol that Gable wants to beat Vikingo. Gable says, “Si.”
Andrade points out something about Vikingo and Gable keeps saying, “Si,” but Andrade asks, “Si to what?” But then in steps Penta! Penta and Andrade both talk in Espanol that Gable is crazy. Gable says enough! It’s not funny to use Espanol on him! And it won’t be funny when El Grande Americano puts them both through ladders tomorrow! The Creeds agree, but then Aldis steps in. Aldis has everyone stand down. There’s enough going on tonight, so settle this in the ring, tonight. Andrade y Penta are up for that. Will the luchadores put Julius & Brutus in their place? Or will the SmackDown before MITB be American Made?

Last year, I didn’t just become the youngest Miss MITB. I became the It Girl of WWE, which is why I can see it now. Every single lady in that match is gonna try and pull a Tiffy and pull someone off a ladder, and then reach for the stars. I mean, we can all agree that every single lady in that match is championship material, right?” The fans do cheer that. Tiff says it doesn’t matter, because whoever wins MITB, their world will revolve around Tiff.
“So, ladies, you can win the match, you can trend for one night, but I fear no one can outdo the doer. Because, Bakersfield, what time is it?” “TIFFY TIME!” But then RHEA RIPLEY makes her way out here and the fans fire up for Mami! Rhea joins Tiff in the ring, grabs herself a mic, and the fans cheer on “MAMI! MAMI!” Rhea smiles and says, “Y’know, Tiffy, I’ve never actually been a part of the MITB ladder match before, because the fact is, I never had to.” The fans cheer that. Rhea says she doesn’t know what it feels like to win the contract like Tiff does, but Rhea knows what it feels like to be a champion. And Rhea misses that feeling.
But wait! Here comes La Primera, Stephanie Vaquer! The fans fire up as another of the Miss MITB contenders makes her entrance, followed by Alexa Bliss! And with that signals tonight’s Six Woman Tag! Giulia swings, Vaquer ducks and whips, then blows past to slip around and arm-drag! Giulia is up, Vaquer wheelbarrows and sunsets, but Giulia rebounds off ropes to sunset back! ONE, Vaquer has it! ONE and Giulia has it back! They go back and forth, then break!

Solo is confident that he’ll win MITB, so long as he has JC and Fatu. JC asks if Solo really trusts Fatu after tonight. Solo says yeah, it’s okay! So long as Fatu follows Solo’s lead, it will all be okay. But will Fatu really follow Solo? Solo tells JC, “My man, you worry too much.” Solo brought Fatu in, Fatu loves Solo, and the thing about Fatu is… He’s not all that smart, y’know? All that man does is think about himself. He is all gas, no brains. Solo laughs at his own joke, and says they just gotta handle business. They leave, but Fatu was around the corner! The Samoan Werewolf heard all of that. Is Solo the one with no brains? Will he also be the one with no contract?

Bo Dallas’ video interrupts Sign of the Night time so he can say, “Grief is not linear. It is not healed by time. It is a festering wound that is continually being ripped open by an echo of a presence that is no more. You don’t forget. You can only accept that which cannot be changed.” The video fuses images of Bo and Bray, and Bo says that he has watched the SmackDown Tag Division. “The loyalty. The trust. The brotherhood. But is that bond unbreakable? From our loss, we have become a family. A ship unshaken by the storm. And yet again, they wanted to forget about us. Like we were never even here. Ignoring the sacrifices.

And from DIY to MCMG to Fraxiom to the Street Profits, and even GM Aldis, everyone is worried. Gargano says that’s not good. Ciampa says as “the two guys who built this division,” which makes everyone groan, Ciampa says there is no reason for DIY to take the fall! So come clean! Who provoked the Wyatts? Gargano immediately accuses Angelo Dawkins! Montez Ford says hey, look, they’re obviously all afraid. Fraxiom, you’re not fine! Motor City, bring the guns! And DIY, you can’t do this yourselves! But let’s forget about the tag titles for just one second. They have a bigger problem on their hands and that is Wyatt Sick6.
Dawkins says they didn’t get where they are by being scared. If the Wyatts want the smoke, they can get it. Unless y’all forgot that the Profits are the real Bogeymen around here. Ooga booga! The Profits head out, Frazer says there’s no forgetting about the tag titles. But admittedly, the Wyatts do mean business. But they cost Fraxiom, so if Frazer sees Uncle Howdy…! Axiom has Frazer calm down. But yes, Frazer is right. Fraxiom is undefeated, so they will teach the Wyatts what’s what! DIY loves that idea! Go get ’em! MCMG says of course DIY second someone else handling this. MCMG says DIY will get what’s coming to them.
But for now, MCMG will put that on the backburner to get after the Wyatts. Let’s not forget who the veterans are around here, and that’s MCMG. They set the standard, so they’ll bring the fight to the Wyatts. Gargano says another brilliant idea! DIY says they can do that. Aldis, make it so those three teams fight the Wyatts. Aldis says yes, thank you for the input. DIY heads out, and Aldis certainly has a mess to sort out. Who will survive the Wyatts coming for it all? And will the tag titles go along with that?

El Idolo and the Man with No Fear know that whether or not El Grande Americano is really Chad Gable under that mask, Chad Gable definitely doesn’t stand a chance against El Hijo Del Vikingo. But can Andrade y Penta build momentum going into the ladder match together? Or will Julius & Brutus do Chad’s- Er, El Grande’s dirty work for him?

The fans chant for Punk, but Rollins sets Andrade up for Bron’s SPEAR!! Bronson scoops Penta to SLAM him, then SENTON him! CURB STOMP for Andrade!! CURB STOMP for Penta!! The fans boo as Rollins has his behemoths drag Penta to a drop zone!
Rollins TOSSES Andrade, Bronson goes up, TSUNAMI!! The producers and refs can’t get in the ring with Bron barking at them, and whatever fines Rollins faces don’t matter with how close he is to having all the power in WWE! Can no one stop the Visionary from taking over the future of the industry?

Rollins’ crew is still in the ring. Heyman now has the mic to say, “Yea, though we walk through the sold-out hellhole of Bakers b*tches, we fear not the future! Because ladies and gentlemen, like it or not, we ARE the future!” The fans boo but Heyman says he doesn’t understand why they would! Seth Rollins told you even before WrestleMania what this industry was becoming. He told you all what would happen at Mania, and it happened! Rollins told you all they would get Roman Reigns out of the way, and they did! Rollins told you all they would put CM Punk out of Heyman’s misery, and they did!
Don’t they get that whatever Rollins tells them becomes true? Don’t they understand that Rollins is the vanguard of the future of this industry? That this group is the vanguard of the destiny of the WWE!? The fans still boo, and Heyman says they can sit there and boo all they want. “Tomorrow night, Seth Freakin’ Rollins becomes, once again, Mr. Money in the Bank!” The fans boo even more, but Heyman says then, once Rollins does that, at his leisure, at his discretion, when he damn well feels like it, it will be who, what, where, and when! We all know the why! The why is to solidify the POWER that comes with the title!
“And Seth Freakin’ Rollins will then propel this entire industry into a future that is a vision all of his own!” As for Heyman, the greatest honor of his professional and personal life is when he gets to stand here, in this ring, and says, “Ladies and gentlemen, the REIGNING! DEFENDING! UNDI-” Wait! Cody Rhodes makes his way out here! The fans fire up and sing along with the American Nightmare’s song, and he still gets the “WHOA~ OH~!” and pyro. Cody high-fives fans as he goes down the ramp and to the ring. Rollins has Bron & Bronson calm down, even as Cody steps inside. Cody looks at the four, then stares Rollins down.
But now we’re joined by Jey Uso! The fans fire up as Jey makes his way out from the concourse and down through the stands! Jey even gets a little girl to join in on the YEET! Rollins has his faction follow him away again, letting Cody and the World Heavyweight Champion have the ring. Cody & Jey will have one last face-to-face with John Cena & Logan Paul, but can they keep it civil? Or will it pop off 24 hours before MITB? We find out, after the break.

Cody & Jey revel in the cheers, and Cody has the mic to say, “So, Bakersfield… Whaddya wanna talk about? Talk about MITB?” “YEET!” “Talk about the Intuit Dome?” “YEET!” “Talk about Main Event Jey Uso!” “YEET!” “Talk about our opponents, John Cena…” The fans boo that name. “And his tag team partner, Logan Paul…!” The fans definitely boo that name. Cody says okay, well, what’d they say last week? Cena was rather aggressive, saying Cody tries too hard. The fans already duel, “Let’s Go, Cena!” “CENA SUCKS!” Cody says Cena called Cody desperate, which was bold coming from Cena. Cena danced his way onto a livestream all, “How do you do, fellow kids?”
We saw Cena kick some man in a nuts, then begging for forgiveness online. Seeing Cena in the ring with Logan in 2025, that was like if Michael PS Hayes was in the ring with the Hardy Boys. Let’s talk about desperate! Desperate is WrestleMania 41, throwing away 20 YEARS of good will so that he could have a record-setting title reign. Tomorrow isn’t about the World Heavyweight Championship, it isn’t about the Undisputed WWE Championship, it is a showdown. What would Jey call that? Jey calls that a YEET DOWN! One time for the one time: Four letters, one word! UH UH, YEET!! But wait! Here comes John Cena!
The fans erupt with “JOHN CENA SUCKS~! JOHN CENA SUCKS~!” as Cena makes his entrance in his Lakers inspired merch for Los Angeles. Cena steps into the ring, has them cut his music, and he looks at the crowd as they duel, “Let’s Go, Cena!” “CENA SUCKS!” Cena of course makes the announcer give him the proper introduction: The Greatest of All Time, the Never-Seen Seventeen, gracing Bakersfield with his presence one last time, he is the Last Real Champion, JOOOOOHN~! CENAAA~! And then LOGAN PAUL slides in! ONE LUCKY PUNCH on Jey!! Then he tries it on Cody, but Cody grabs him for a dragon sleeper!
But Cena BELT SHOTS Cody before he can hit Cross Rhodes! The fans boo but Cena drags Jey up for an ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT!! Cena lets Logan get Cody with the PAULVERIZER! Cena then sets Cody up in the drop zone for Logan as he climbs. Logan hits the FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH! Cena now sets Jey up and Logan goes back up, FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH!! The fans boo as Cena kicks Cody & Jey out of the ring, and then gets himself a mic. Logan picks up the World Heavyweight Championship while Cena says, “Take a good look. NO ONE is coming to save you. I’ve been telling you this for a half of a year! YOUR DREAM of what the WWE is… will be RUINED!
“THIS is your future! I take this home! He takes that to the top!” They raise their belts up, and Cena says he is the Last Real Champion while Logan is the Moment Maker, the One of One, the Inevitable Future Face of the WWE! “Bakersfield, humble yourselves for the humblest! The future World Heavyweight Champion, Logan Paul!” The fans boo as they both hold up the belts again, then set them down. The fans chant “Logan Sucks! Logan Sucks!” Cena and Logan go outside to grab Cody and Jey and put them back in the ring! ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT for Cody! Logan lines up a shot, ONE LUCKY PUNCH for Jey!!
The fans boo, chant “We Want Truth!” but Cena says, “You Can’t Handle the Truth!!” Cena says if you want their truth, their truth is right here, staring them in the face! And there is not a damn thing the fans or anyone that fights for the fans can do about it! “You hypocrites chant for Truth. You are all pathetic LIARS!” The fans still chant “We Want Truth!” but Cena says, “This is why you’re losers. Take a good look, because it’s my last time here in Bakersfield. And remember these words: Winners write the history books! Ladies and gentlemen, your future champion, and the Last Real Champion!”
The two raise the belts up again as the fans boo, but is this really going to be the future of the WWE? Or can someone, anyone, stop it all from happening?
My Thoughts:
A great SmackDown as the go-home to both MITB and Worlds Collide. Though, the most Legado could do for their Six Man Tag was have a promo that didn’t really add much, and Santos kinda repeated himself a bit. There’s also the Six Man Tag of Aerostar, Octagon Jr. & Mr. Iguana VS Dragon Lee, Cruz Del Toro and apparently now Lince Dorado to sub in for Joaquin Wilde. One Six Man Tag surely goes to WWE and the other to AAA, I’m just not sure which one. We did get a bit more Gable VS Vikingo with Vikingo help Penta & Andrade in the main event, but I don’t know how that math works. As wild as it would be, I really don’t think Gable should win the AAA Mega Champion.
Especially if El Grande Americano has the potential to win MITB. While we all know Gable and Grande are one in the same, Grande didn’t show up tonight, so he was safe from the go-home math that happened tonight. Seth Rollins and his faction of course ran roughshod over SmackDown tonight, but I liked the opening promo of Rollins’ faction being confronted by Solo’s. Great bit bringing Jimmy Uso out, but it’s kinda funny Fatu and JC each fell for the “He bumped into me!” misunderstanding. Great win for Jimmy from this, and Solo’s promo later definitely puts the final nail in the coffin for him, Fatu is going to screw Solo over at MITB.
Aleister and LA Knight each had good promos before their match, which was a little rough in the middle but still really good. Rollins of course ruins that match to weaken Knight, but what a great stare down of Aleister and Rollins. As it stands, that won’t be a feud, unless the WWE Draft still happens and moves Aleister (and Zelina) over to Raw. And back to that main event match, of course Rollins and his crew blew that great match up, too. All this math is adding up to Rollins losing, because chances are, CM Punk does show up to screw him over. And so, if it isn’t Grande, I feel like Knight benefits from that since he was the first to take a stomp from Rollins.
Great stuff in the Women’s MITB build, with Tiffany’s promo calling out all six contenders cuing up the six contenders making their entrances for the Six Woman Tag. Awesome match, and great win for the Faces with Naomi (and Giulia more quietly) leaving Roxie alone. Good promo from Zelina with Giulia, and great Bakersfield Brawl. I like that Giulia suckered Zelina in with the assist, because it really is as I said: Better to challenge a champion with no obvious allies than the one with sidekicks. Plus, Chelsea Green can finally move up to the top title with someone else challenging Zelina for the Women’s US Championship. Chelsea and Tiffany interacting while Tiff worries about Miss MITB will be some really fun stuff.
Giulia going right for Zelina takes her out of the running, the Faces did that tonight with their win, and even without the math, Naomi is perhaps the perfect choice for Miss MITB. She has her beef with Tiffany, but also with Jade and Bianca, meaning one or both won’t let Naomi get a clean cash-in. Good promo from Jade and Charlotte to help add to the hype of the King & Queen of the Ring news. Four Fatal 4 Ways makes things happen much faster, but it adds up to the same: eight people from each brand fighting to be in the semifinals and so on, can’t wait to see who else gets in.
Great promo from Bo Dallas, and great response from the teams of SmackDown. DIY play the perfect Heels in this letting the Faces handle the spooky, scary tweeners the Wyatts are, and we will definitely get great stuff out of the different tag matches. And of course, great final faceoff from Cody, Jey, Cena & Logan. In fact, it was very clever for Cena to take all that attention so Logan could get the drop on Jey & Cody. Cena had a very good promo, and he very cleverly touched upon the #WeWantTruth campaign with it. But this obviously has to mean Cena & Logan lose, helping set up Cena VS Cody the rematch for SummerSlam, even with the big Atlanta weekend coming up.
