WWE Week In Review: November 26 – December 2, 2018
NXT UK
Episode 11
NXT UK Championship: For weeks, Jordan Devlin has been running his mouth about NXT UK, and backing up his words, pulling out an impressive win over Ligero last week. Devlin’s words caught the attention of Johnny Saint, who gave the Irish Ace a chance to put his money where his mouth was and face Pete Dunne for the NXT UK Championship.
The match was amazing! Dunne seemed have underestimated his opponent, only to find himself dangerously close to losing his coveted championship more than once. Devlin, for his part, proved that the victory over Ligero was not only NOT a fluke, but that he was a worthy contender for the NXT UK championship. Unfortunately, for the Irish Ace, Dunne would pick up the submission victory, but Devlin definitely made a statement about his place on NXT UK.
NXT UK Women’s Division: The NXT Women’s Tournament will be decided in Episode 12, but there are other ladies in the division who are looking to make their marks. Xia Brookside and Millie McKenzie, who both made splashes in the tournament, took on Killer Kelly and Charlie Morgan.
The match was surprisingly great. Brookside and McKenzie proved to be a great team and had better teamwork than Morgan and Kelly, who proved to be a formidable force in their own rights, but Brookside and McKenzie would pull out the win with some sneaky teamwork.
Eddie Dennis vs Ashton Smith: Eddie Dennis has been on a tear since his debut, lashing out at anyone in his way in his bitterness over everyone getting to live their dreams but him. Ashton Smith didn’t seem impressed by Dennis’ rage and took him on.
The match was really good. Smith proved a harder nut to crack than Dennis’ previous victims, but Dennis would be the victor, hitting his Next Stop Driver and getting the pin on Smith. Is there anyone who can stop the Headmaster from Hell?
Saxon Huxley vs Joseph Conners: Saxon Huxley and Joseph Conners were a pretty devastating tag team, until Huxley’s confidence got the better of him and it ended up costing them a match against Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews. Enraged, Conners turned on his partner and laid him out and now Huxley wanted revenge.
The match was brutal but pretty good. Huxley and Conners tore each other apart, but it was Conners that would pull out the victory and leave Huxley in a heap in the ring. Time will tell how Huxley will deal with this defeat, but he could decide that his quest for vengeance isn’t over.
Episode 12
NXT UK Women’s Championship: It’s all come down to this. Who will be the first NXT UK Women’s champion? Toni Storm or Rhea Ripley.
The match was amazing! Storm has trouble selling herself as the underdog, but that wasn’t a problem in this match since Ripley was a good head taller than Storm.
However, if Ripley thought Storm was going to be a pushover, she was sorely disabused of that when Storm took everything Ripley could dish out and give it right back. However, it was Ripley who would eventually emerge the victor, but it would take Storm’s back going out and a vicious Riptide to do it.
Ripley was congratulated by Johnny Saint and Triple H and the fans, while the devastated Storm limped to the back. Rhea Ripley might have weathered the storm this time, but Toni Storm will be looking for redemption and God help Rhea Ripley then.
Joe Coffey vs Sid Scala: The Last Kings of Scotland have been destroying everyone in their bid to make NXT UK their kingdom. Sid Scala has been looking to prove himself more than a plucky loser and was granted that chance if he could get medically cleared in time. Unfortunately, Scala was not cleared in time, but he announced to Coffey, who had been so confident of victory that he’d sent his brother and Wolfgang to the back, that he’d found a more than suitable replacement: Tyler Bate!
Bate wasted no time in racing to the ring to get his hands on Coffey. Realizing the threat, Mark Coffey and Wolfgang raced to back Joe up.
The match was brutal. Coffey brutalized Bate, but Bate kept battling back. When the interference got to be too much, Trent Seven came out, but it still left a three on two advantage to the Scots. Bate would get a DQ win after Mark Coffey and Wolfgang rushed the ring rather than see Joe pinned, but the resulting brawl brought out an interesting ally for Moustache Mountain: Pete Dunne! The NXT Champion rushed out and helped Moustache Mountain send the Last Kings of Scotland running. Looks like the king has returned to protect his kingdom.
El Ligero vs Don Maloney: The Leeds Luchador was looking to regain some momentum after his loss to Jordan Devlin last week and took on the other Birmingham Bruiser, Don Maloney.
The match was definitely a clash of styles, with Ligero’s high-flying clashing with Maloney’s ground and pound style. However, Ligero would weather Maloney and put the Birmingham Bruiser away with a thunderous Tornado DDT.
Amir Jordan and Kenny Williams vs Zach Gibson and James Drake: Amir Jordan and Kenny Williams had a few technical glitches in their first tag team outing, losing to Huxley and Conners, but this week, they hoped to have those ironed out and come out the winners.
Unfortunately, Gibson and Drake, aka, the Grizzled Young Veterans, were the wrong tag team for that. They were an established team and proved too tough for Jordan and Williams, though Jordan and Williams certainly tried. Better luck next time, guys.

Chris King: The Wyatt Sicks’ Wasted Potential By WWE
Chris King takes a look at the WWE and their wasted potential of Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Sicks faction.
Chris King takes a look at the WWE and their wasted potential of Uncle Howdy and the Wyatt Sicks faction.
It’s that time of the year again, folks; it’s unfortunate and downright awful that so many WWE superstars got released today. I’m not going to list all of them, but I am going to talk about one of my favorite factions,
The Wyatt Sicks. Nikki Cross, Joe Gacy, Erik Rowan, and Bo Dallas (Uncle Howdy) were something special. After Bo’s brother Bray Wyatt’s tragic passing, WWE felt like there was a hole that needed to be filled. Wyatt was one of the most creative and brilliant characters, and Bo would be taking over his brother’s concept and bringing it to life. In 2024, at the end of an incredible documentary highlighting Wyatt’s career and struggles, Bo appeared on the screen portrayed as Uncle Howdy. The last time Uncle Howdy was seen on-screen was at the 2023 Royal Rumble, where Wyatt defeated LA Knight in a Pitch Black Match. Howdy jumped off a structure onto Knight.
This post-credit scene sparked so much speculation and excitement that Wyatt’s brother would carry on his legacy and possibly debut the faction that was Wyatt’s concept. On the June 17th episode of Monday Night Raw, The Wyatt Sicks made their dramatic debut ,destroying the backstage area as well as “murdering” Chad Gable. It was such an iconic arrival for Howdy as he made his menacing walk from the back into the audience who were chanting “Holy Shit.” The Sicks and American Made (Chad Gable and The Creed Brothers) battled for months, with The Sicks being victorious. On the September 9th episode of Raw, The Sicks defeated them, with Howdy getting the win with Sister Abigail.
The following year, The Sicks would move over to Friday Night SmackDown, and it seemed like WWE had a plan in place. They would win the tag team championships from The Street Profits and start to look dominant. Now, what should have happened next is Howdy should have won the United States title. The Sicks could have held all the gold over on the blue brand, but it never happened. The Sicks entered into a never-ending feud with The MFT’s (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, JC Mateo, and Talla Tonga.) It started off exciting, and the WWE Universe was red-hot for their interactions.
After months of repetitive matches and The MFT’s stealing their lantern, the feud grew tiresome and boring. Even Tama asked Solo why they are still holding onto the lantern, as it was destroying them as a whole. Finally on the SmackDown before Mania, Tama
gave the lantern back to Howdy against Solo’s wishes. Please explain to me why both factions fought almost every single week instead of just having one final blowoff match at WrestleMania.
It should have been either a massive street fight or a falls count anywhere match on the grandest stage of them all. Instead, it turned into a meaningless week-after-week extravaganza that benefited no one. The MFTs won the rivalry, and The Sicks don’t even work for WWE anymore. This was the same criminalized creative process that Wyatt dealt with during his first run in the company.
We’ll never know how much of a dangerous force The Wyatt Sicks could have been in the WWE. For all their careers’ sake, I hope they stay far away from the company for as long as possible. Every superstar that was cut deserves better!

Chris King: Bloodline Saga: Is This the Right Call For WWE?
Chris King questions the WWE’s logic in setting up Jacob Fatu as the next challenger for World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns
Chris King questions the WWE’s logic in setting up Jacob Fatu as the next challenger for World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns is once again World Heavyweight Champion after his dominant win over CM Punk at WrestleMania 42. On the following night on Monday Night Raw, The OG Bloodline came back together as a well-oiled machine as The Usos stood side by side with Roman. With the WWE Universe asking who would be the first to challenge “The Tribal Chief,” Jacob Fatu shocked the world by answering the call.
Fatu is running hot after his impressive win over Drew McIntyre and feels like he is ready to become the new world champion. This bloodline segment ended Raw, and it picked right back up on SmackDown with even Solo Sikoa and the MFTs involved. This is now two shows that have been centered around The Bloodline saga, and it’s made me question whether or not WWE should be retelling this story.
The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Solo Sikoa) ran WWE for over four years as Reigns’ henchmen, doing his dirty work to retain his title. Even though Roman has declared he doesn’t want Jey and Jimmy to serve him, it sure seems like WWE are spinning their wheels. Fatu could add a whole new chapter into the story, even if he’s not able to beat Roman at Backlash. “The Samoan Werewolf” could be forced to do the same thing as Jey did all those years ago and fall in line.
In my opinion, I feel like Fatu should be challenging for the Undisputed WWE Championship because that’s a title I feel like he should win. I understand standing up to your blood and trying to prove you’re the best, but I don’t think this is the right move. It feels like 2022 all over again, as The Bloodline is the central focus on both shows. If Fatu doesn’t win, what happens to all his momentum he’s been building over the last two years?
Why did WWE make this the best choice for storyline purposes? Why couldn’t creative have come up with a different challenger for Roman? There are so many other superstars that could challenge The Tribal Chief, such as Rusev, Bron Breakker, Gunther, or even a returning Sheamus.
I just can’t help but question WWE’s logic here, and it kind of reminds me of all the times The Shield reunited. Could WWE be pushing the same storyline too many times here? Could the WWE Universe get tired of this rinse and repeat cycle of The Bloodline Saga?
Are we about to see all the weekly episodes solely focused on The Bloodline again? Will it be cinema… Yes. Is there still money in The Bloodline… Yes. Was it the right call? That’s to be determined!
