Winner: El Ligero, by pinfall

The luchador is victorious! And best of all, he and Andrews shake hands again, showing they still respect each other. Will this lead the Light of Leeds to a title opportunity?

Backstage interview with Oney Lorcan.

With the NXT Tag Division being stacked as ever, does Lorcan feel he and Burch are worthy of being #1 contenders? Of course, he and Burch have shown everyone- Oh, speaking of Burch, he walks in having just gotten off the phone with Johnny Saint. Saint just told him that the One Two Combination is getting a shot at the NXT UK Tag Team Championships when the brands collide in Phoenix! Them against the Grizzled Young Veterans, they’ll slap the taste out of their mouths. Phoenix means the Grizzled Young Veterans’ first defense will be their last. Will the One Two get the one-two-three and shock both tag divisions?

Backstage interview with Pete Dunne.

What does the Bruiserweight make of Walter’s arrival in NXT UK? Dunne was impressed, and knows Walter will come for the title. But when that happens, Walter will learn why Dunne has been the champion for over 600 days. It’s because Dunne fears no one. Will that still be true when the Austrian Anomaly gets through with Mark Coffey tonight?

Xia Brookside VS Candy Floss!

The second-generation superstar returns and is ready to fly, but will she get a serious fight from her sugary sweet opponent?

The bell rings and the two young stars circle. They shake hands and show respect before they tie up. Xia gets a headlock and takedown but Candy headscissor counters. Xia moves around and headstands to pop out. She helps Candy up and the two go again. Candy gets the takedown to a cover, ONE and Xia rolls Candy, ONE! Candy wrings Xia but Xia rolsl through to a jawbreaker! Xia runs, facebuster! Fans fire up with Xia as she builds speed and tilt-o-whirl headscissors Candy! Candy gets to a corner, Xia runs in for Broken Wing knees! Xia puts Candy up to the top rope, arm-drag slam for the Brooksy Bomb! Bridging clutch cover, Xia wins!

Winner: Xia Brookside, by pinfall

It’s Xia’s first win on NXT UK! Fans cheer the young superstar on, especially as she shows respect and sportsmanship to Candy Floss. But Rhea Ripley attacks! She shoves Xia aside to scoop slam Candy! Xia fires forearms but Rhea tosses her with a flapjack! Rhea goes back to Candy to throw her out hard! Fans boo and jeer as Rhea kicks Xia around, then puts on the hanging cloverleaf! Rhea swings Xia around, but here comes Toni Storm!

The NXT UK Women’s Champion throws hands with the Mosh Pit Kid! And rocks her with a headbutt! Xia gets up but Rhea uses her as a shield for Toni’s second headbutt! Rhea then scoops Toni into the Riptide! The former champion will get her rematch in Phoenix, but she’s sent a major message to the entire division in Blackpool! Will Rhea rip that title away from Toni? Or will the Lightning from Down Under strike twice?

Jordan Devlin speaks.

“This is the Irish Ace, Jordan Devlin, and I have been running roughshod over the entire NXT UK roster for the past few months.” And with NXT UK going to Phoenix, the Ace wants to represent and make a statement. He chooses a guy who came over to UK, had some matches, then left “with his tail between his legs.” Devlin calls out Noam Dar! The Scottish Supernova is going to find out personally why you #NeverBetAgainstTheAce.

Mike Hitchman VS Joseph Conners!

The Wild Boar of Wales never backs down from a fight, but will he think twice after facing the Righteous Killer?

The bell rings and Conners ties up with Boar. They go around and Conners clubs away on Boar at the ropes. Conners stomps Boar down, backs off at 4, but comes back for more. The referee backs Conners down but Conners whips Boar. Boar reverses and runs Conners over! Boar goes after Conners in the corner with punches! But Conners slips out and trips Boar up. Boar fights back but walks into an atomic facebuster! Cover, TWO! Conners brings Boar around for a neck wrench but fans rally up again. Conners taunts Boar as he tells him, “You are not taking it away!” Boar hits back but Conners stomps him down! Conners keeps raining ax handles down as fans boo and jeer. Conners runs but BOar blocks the kick! Boar dodges and dodges to then chop block a leg out. Conners is on the ropes, Boar back sentons him off! Boar throws Conners with an exploder! Conners rolls out but Boar gets on the apron, Boar frog splash!

Boar puts Conners in and stalks from the corner. Fans rally up as Boar runs corner to corner, but misses to get buckles! Conners slingshot DDT’s! Cover, TWO!! Wild Boar lives but Conners has a wild eyed look. Conners taunts Boar that he’s just a “pussy cat”! Conners vows to take over NXT UK, but Boar pop-up powerbombs him down! Fans fire up for Boar and he runs corner to corner again, but into a boot. Conners goes up but Boar headbutts him! Boar climbs to join Conners but Conners clubs him back. Conners sunset flip powerbombs him once, then sunset flip buckle bombs Boar in the opposite corner! And Conners isn’t done there, he drags Boar out to say, Don’t Look Down! Cover, Conners wins!

Winner: Joseph Conners, by pinfall

Conners gets through with one “shiny new toy”, but his personal crusade is far from over! Who else will he target on his way to the top?

Gallus warms up backstage.

Joe Coffey is ready to take out Ashton Smith, and he knows Mark will take care of Walter tonight. Wolfgang will get his shot at Pete Dunne next week, too, and soon, they’ll truly make NXT UK their Kingdom! And that is simply Gallus.

Backstage interviwe with Jinny.

The Fashionista tells Radzi he needs to improve his wardrobe to make up for his hideous face. Her “advice” aside, Radzi asks Jinny about her string of wins and how the Division looks to her. Well of course she won, she’s a queen. But her own amazing talent aside, there are plenty of talented superstars around. Jinny congratulates Toni Storm. Toni’s only 23 but is one of the best women wrestlers in the world. However, she also gets in Jinny’s way every single time. But regardless of Toni VS Rhea in Phoenix, everyone knows it’s only a matter of time before NXT UK’s true queen is crowned. The Fashionista will have her own crossover match with Mia Yim! Will Jinny defeat the Head Baddie in Charge to secure her title shot in the UK?

Ashton Smith VS Joe Coffey!

Manchester’s Prestige has a big opportunity against the Iron King tonight, but will he make good on it in Blackpool? Or will Coffey be too gallus for the young gun?

The bell rings and Joe speeds things up right away. He and Ashton go around the ring as fans cheer “Woop!” for Ashton. They tie up, Ashton gets a headlock, and he holds on as Coffey tries to power out. Coffey gets free but Ashton dodges to get the headlock back on. Coffey powers out again, goes parallel and pounces Ashton out! Ashton is reeling from that truly gallus tackle, but Coffey doesn’t give him time to rest. Coffey punches then SPEARS Ashton into barriers! Coffey wants everyone to see that this is still his kingdom! He drags Ashton up and into the ring, then rains down left hands. Coffey rams a knee into Ashton’s back then puts on a nerve hold! Coffey makes it half straitjacket but Ashton endures. Fans rally up as Coffey makes it a full straitjacket.

Ashton stands up and gets an arm free, but Coffey wrenches back and rams his knee in again. Coffey grinds Ashton back down and makes the hold a cobra clutch now. Ashton claws at Coffey’s hold but Coffey shouts in his ear, “STILL my kingdom!” Coffey thrashes Ashton about but Ashton fights his way up. Fans rally as Ashton powers the hold off, but Coffey reels him out. Ashton runs but into a bearhug! Coffey rams Ashton into buckles, then more buckles, then throws him down. Coffey clubs Ashton down, then shoves him for a forearm on the rebound. Fans boo and jeer as Coffey keeps trash talking. Ashton hits back but Coffey knocks him down. Coffey brings Ashton back up in the bearhug and Ashton endures the squeeze again.

Fans rally and Ashton feeds off it to throw hands on Coffey! Coffey reels Ashton in but Ashton elbows him away. Ashton runs but into an overhead suplex! Coffey aim from the corner, he runs corner to corner and barrels into Ashton! He gives European Uppercut after uppercut, then whips Ashton for a pop-up EuroUpper! Coffey drags Ashton up as dead weight, “This is STILL my kingdom!” Fans boo as Coffey aims, but Ashton hits back! Ashton bobs ‘n’ weaves with Coffey to throws hands on the bad eye! Coffey still powers Ashton to a corner then whips, but Ashton flapjack knees Coffey down! Ashton fires up, SUPERKICK! Ashton stalks Coffey, runs in, hop up but into a German Suplex! All the Best for the Bells!! Cover, Coffey wins!

Winner: Joe Coffey, by pinfall

The Iron King came close to falling but he still wins it out! Will he get a second chance at the WWE United Kingdom Championship to finally take the throne?

Walter VS Mark Coffey!

Brother Joe was successful, but what about brother Mark? The younger Coffey boy takes on the Austrian Anomaly, will he be able to stop Walter from reaching the WWE UK Championship? Or is there no stopping the Ring General from taking over?

Fans sing for Walter as the bell rings. Walter and Coffey tie up and Coffey gets behind to start clubbing away. Coffey CHOPS Walter, but it only angers Walter. Walter swings but Coffey avoids the chop and gives back forearms. But Walter still CHOPS Coffey on the return! Walter puts Coffey on the ropes for a clubbing crossface, and another! Coffey tumbles to the floor, and Walter goes after him. Coffey powers Walter into the apron and the barriers, then clubs him around. Fans cheer Walter on as Coffey puts him in the ring for stomps. Walter gets up but Coffey keeps on him with body shots. Coffey throws EuroUppers and more stomps, but Walter resists the arm stretch. Coffey still manages it with the help of kicks into Walter’s back. Fans rally up for Walter as Coffey stomps away.

Walter powers up and starts turning the hold around onto Coffey! Walter stretches Coffey’s arm snow but Coffey gets a ropebreak. Coffey gets a cheap elbow in, then a EuroUpper in the corner. Coffey whips but Walter holds ropes. Fans cheer Walter but Coffey clubs away on him with forearms. Coffey whips but Walter reverses. The two collide, but Walter does not budge! Coffey is in shock as Walter eggs him on. Coffey throws more clotheslines but Walter barely moves! Walter even takes them head on! Coffey runs but Walter clubs him away, then throws him with a German Suplex! Fans fire up while Walter aims from across the way. Walter runs corner to corner for a boot! Coffey drops as Walter fires up.

Walter puts Coffey on the top rope sideways for a CHOP! Walter then climbs to stand on Coffey for a corner backbreaker stretch! The ref counts but Walter lets up at 4, and Coffey tumbles to the floor. Walter pursues and drags Coffey up. Walter CHOPS Coffey again, then back suplexes Cofffey onto the apron! Coffey rolls in and Walter pursues again. Walter drags Coffey up for more clubbing crossfaces! Walter wraps Coffey in a sleeper but Coffey keeps it off for dear life. Coffey gets a shoulder beaker, and a stiff forearm! He even hits a stiff double ax handle, and a EuroUpper. Coffey clotheslines, dodges Walter, then PELES! Cover, TWO! Walter and Coffey both grit their teeth and catch their breath.

Fans rally as Coffey scoops but Walter slips out to CHOP Coffey on the back! Walter has the sleeper but Coffey backs him down for elbows! Walter DROPKICKS Coffey! Then, Walter Bomb! Cover, Walter wins!

Winner: Walter, by pinfall

Only his second match on NXT UK and it was a tough one, but the Ring General toughs it out and is victorious! Fans sing for Walter again, will everyone be singing all the way to Walter taking the title?

My Thoughts:

A really great episode here before NXT UK goes to Phoenix. Andrews VS Ligero was incredible just for an opening match, and it doesn’t even need a reason to happen. I can’t be sure but I feel like the colors in their gear alluded to Dragonball Z, Ligero as Piccolo and Andrews as Goku. But maybe that’s just me. Anyway, it’s pretty big for Ligero to win. NXT UK midcard title when? Also, I like Jordan Devlin calling out Noam Dar, those two can have a great match and even a great program for NXT UK. Again, NXT UK midcard title please? Joseph Conners moves up in the midcard after having a pretty good match with Wild Boar, but I can’t be sure who his real opponent in this story of his ends up being.

Xia VS Candy Floss was good, though I sensed just a moment or so of being rusty. Naturally Xia wins, they’ve been hyping her up as a standout midcard superstar. Rhea did great to show up outta nowhere and beat them both down, that’s what a ruthless Heel like her should do. Toni showing up was a good spot, too, as that’s what a top Face should do. Good idea to have Xia be a human shield, and Rhea stands tall going into NXT UK Phoenix. But because of that, and because of Jinny’s promo, it’s still gonna be #ToniTime, and then Toni VS Jinny will happen for the next UK TakeOver. Jinny VS Mia Yim is also going to be great, but for the same reasons, Jinny wins. As for Rhea, she and Xia can have a female David VS Goliath story for UK TakeOver.

Both Coffey brothers had good showings tonight. Ashton looked strong against Joe but obviously Joe wins to stay strong in the upper-midcard, just outside of title contention. Mark did great as Walter’s second match on NXT UK, which is great for both of them. Walter looks more legitimate to fans unfamiliar with him, and Mark looks great for fans who do know Walter. But again, Walter looks strong because he is going to be the next contender to the title. Dunne’s promo on that was good, and Dunne VS Walter is going to be incredible. However, I expected Gallus to come back out to fight Walter all at once, to then bring out Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner. Perhaps that’ll happen later, regardless if Walter is champion.

My Score: 8.5/10

Slammiversary Fallout! Where do things go on the way to Victory Road?

Published

on

Well now we start the fall out of Slammiversary. Josh Alexander in his bad bitch summer, X-Speedball legacy, ABC got the t-a-g and Jordynne is still in charge of the Knockouts division. Like I said at the end of Slammiversary, all of the champions being Babyfaces is stupid. They need to drop a couple titles fairly quickly, because I don’t care what some people say, Nic Nemeth ain’t gonna bring any eyes to the brand. He’s about as hot as day old Hamburger Helper over a camping sterno.

We’ll probably open with the luke warm champion, so tune in like 10 minutes late for anything of substance to be happen.

https://x.com/i/status/1816629254349533588

Ratings:

  • Steve Maclin vs Cody Deaner: Maclin wins via KIA – *
  • AJ Francis w/Rich Swann & Josh Bishop vs Sami Callihan: AJ wins via Down Payment – **
  • Hammer Your ASH (ASH by Elegance & Alexander Hammerstone) vs JuggerYoung (Jordynne Grace & Eric Young): Hammer Your ASH wins via Torture Rack – ** 1/2
  • The System (Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers & JDC) w/Alisha Edwards vs Matt Hardy & The ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey): Broken Alphabet wins via Twist & Splash – ***

Results:

Nemeth gives the ole “I’ll be a fighting champion…blah blah” promo and drops the “any company” line that we’ve already understood what that means. Campaign Singh cuts him off…and I never thought I’d be happy for Campaign Singh to walk out and say anything…ever. And…Mustafa’s promo is worse than Dolph’s. He’s gone from parody to caricature even saying “it was the biggest screw job Montreal ever saw”. Like some of these lines are cheap heat, but most are just brain dead comments that wouldn’t get a reaction out of anyone (and the crowd was silent for that comment). Mustafa gets caught in an Archer “phrasing” moment about getting screwed hard, but this is painful. Promos written by 14 year olds everyone…

This ends with Ali challenging Nemeth for the World Title. While I’m not against walk up challenges, I watch Japanese wrestling, I don’t really get the point aside from doing it just to do it.

ABC and Matt Hardy have a small promo, and I’m still not really a fan of Unbroken Matt Version 6.0. The floating between Broken voice and his normal voice sounds amateurish.

OH LOOK, finally a match 20 minutes into the show. And it’s my son Steve Maclin! OH CHRIST he’s facing Deaner. This has been 25 minutes of talking followed by the worst god damn attempt at a gimmick. Deaner’s little “Papa Santino told me I can wipe my ass only if the crowd agrees”. This gimmick should die in a fire.

Steve Maclin vs Cody Deaner

Deaner started off quick because Maclin was in disbelief that Deaner was actually gonna fight him. Maclin dodges a Crossbody, Busaiku Knee, and just starts beating on Deaner for fun. And this is fun, maybe Maclin can make sure Deaner gets stretchered out and written off forever. How do you call for an ambulance in French? Maclin with the old Back Breaker into a stretch. Deaner tries to nerd rage up, breaks the Back Breaker Stretch, his punch combo, into a Manhattan Drop and Bulldog. Deaner hits the Crossbody, but Maclin kicks out. This is entirely too competitive.

Deaner goes for the Deaner DDT, blocked, Olympic Slam into Splashing Deaner into the corner, Caught in the Crosshairs, K-I-A, thanks for coming you damn dweeb. Stay in Canada and don’t travel Deaner, please.

https://x.com/i/status/1816633784537874761

AJ Francis w/Rich Swann & Josh Bishop vs Sami Callihan

As the bell sounds, Sami knocks Rich off the apron, Low Bridges AJ, does the Beats of the Bodhran on AJ and then AJ eats the offense and strategizes with his crew. Bishop and Rich swarm the ring, Sami allows himself to get distracted so AJ slides in and starts beating on Sami. AJ throats Sami across the middle rope and Rich makes his presence felt, AJ distracts the referee and Rich gets in a lot of cheap shots. Bishop throws Sami back in the ring, and AJ keeps up the pressure. Lots of 5 count chokes and leverage moves. After the commercial break ends, Sami dodges a Tennessee Whiskey Knee, gets in a few shots before Rich trips Sami as he’s setting up a Dive, and then AJ takes advantage of the position and hits the goofball knee strike.

AJ calls for his Chokeslam, Sami tries to break it with Axe Handles, then claws the eyes. Sami goes for a Scoop Slam, gets him part way up and then falls over. AJ Chokeslam again, but he bites his hand and starts fighting back. Launches himself at AJ, sends him bouncing off the ropes and uses the momentum to hit that Scoop Slam that was teased earlier. Sami goes for a Western Lariat but eats a Big Boot. AJ does a little Hulk Hogan pose to signal a Leg Drop, but Sami dodges and then connects on a Sliding Lariat. Thumbs Up, Thumbs….interference. Rich distracts the ref, Bishop lays out Sami, AJ connects with the Down Payment.

Hammer Your ASH (ASH by Elegance & Alexander Hammerstone) vs JuggerYoung (Jordynne Grace & Eric Young)

ASH and Jordynne exchange slaps and then Jordynne starts to out muscle ASH. Spinebuster from Jordynne, Juggernaut Driver attempt, but ASH fights off, rope run, Sattelite DDT into both tagging out. EY does the Flair corner flop, slides back in between Hammer’s legs, and connects on a Neckbreaker. EY is the quicker of the two, but Hammer finally gets his hands on him and a Release Belly to Belly into a full mount raining of fists, then a near fall. Hammer smashes EY in a corner, Arm Wringer into an Irish Whip across, but EY moves and Hammer tags out to ASH. ASH levels Jordynne, peppers EY with a few shots and pulls him back to their corner and starts some tandem offense with Hammerman. Hammer Guerilla Presses ASH and throws her into EY for a near fall. Hammer looks to aim for either a Powerbomb or Nightmare Pendulum, but EY drops it into a Small Package, pinfall kick out, they both run, Double Lariat spot. The Knockouts get tagged in.

Jordynne is in control early, World’s Strongest Slam into a Vader Bomb. Juggernaut Driver attempt, but ASH fights it off and tags out to Hammer. Jordynne and EY do some schoolyard stuff with the old Push while Jordynne is down to trip Hammer. All four get in, ASH gets leveled, EY gets leveled, Hammer and Jordynne have a brief face off, but Hammer throws Jordynne to the apron and ASH connects with a Meteora from the apron. Death Valley Driver from Young on Hammer, ASH stares in shock, EY tells her to get, ASH runs away. EY goes up for his Macho Elbow, and ASH causes him to fall to Hammer’s feet, Torture Rack, and EY submits.

Josh Alexander comes out, with new heel music. And it’s not that bad, definitely better than some other people’s new music. Josh yells at the crowd a bit, says he can’t wait til he’s back in a real Canadian town, like his home of Toronto. Then he drops the mic in lieu of an explanation. The crowd chants him off with the “Nah Nah Nah Nah, Hey Hey Hey”.

https://x.com/i/status/1816647373654724937

The System (Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers & JDC) w/Alisha Edwards vs Matt Hardy & The ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey)

JDC and Hardy start, but JDC quickly tags out to Myers and that doesn’t go well. Hardy grabs a hold of Myers, a few Delete chops, drags him to his corner and they all get in a few shots punctuated with Hardy getting tagged back in and an Elbow into Myers’ extended and worked on left arm. Myers stays isolated, back into the corner, Boot to the gut, Ace tags in and wallops Myers. Ace connects on Double Kicks, into Russian Leg Sweep and his half of Click Click Boom, for a 2 count. Myers finally gets free with a Jaw Breaker and tags out to Eddie. But The System gets no momentum, Ace stifles Eddie’s offense and starts a few quick tags with him and Bey for tandem offense. Moose finally comes down the ramp as Eddie kicked out of yet another pinfall attempt because The System has had nothing going for them. Eddie finally gets some offense since Moose was a big enough distraction.

Eddie thinks they have a spot, so he tags back in JDC, but The ABC stop him cold, tag in Matt Hardy, and Matt walks down JDC, but JDC Low Bridges. Matt is on the outside, so all of The System surrounds Hardy, then Joe Hendry’s music hits! That stops the heel beatdown, and we follow Hendry’s entire entrance. So that proves Hendry is bigger than the 8 other people in this frame. Not really sure if that’s optics you want to push along. Ace and JDC try to remind people there’s wrestling going on, but JDC thumbs the eye to get a little something going. Vertical Suplex for a near fall, tag out for Eddie and Eddie lights up Ace with some of those NOAH Chops. Ace retreats to the ropes and Alisha chokes him with the ropes while the ref is distracted.

Myers gets tagged in, Ace tries to use the crowd energy, Myers stops it at first but then Ace slips a Scoop Slam and tags out to Bey. Hot tag, strike rush, Double Stomp, educated feet, Leap Frog to the corner but Lish climbs on the apron and yells at Bey which stops his rhythm. Myers kicks his feet out and causes Bey to crash. Eddie tags in for a few shots, then to JDC and Slingshot Knees, Wringer Snapmare, Bow and Arrow Submission, and JDC is just doing solid wrestling work right now. Uppercut between the Shoulder Blades as Bey tries to get out, tag to Myers and Bey is still eating offense. Eddie tags in, Bey tries the Sunset Flip, but Eddie tags out before going over, so Myers folds up Bey for a near fall and then tags out to JDC who connects on a Standing Suplex, slams Bey’s face into the corner, Eddie tags in, and Bey finally fights up to his feet, Eddie just flatten Bey’s comeback, tries a Tiger Driver but eats an Enzuigiri for a simultaneous tag. JDC and Hardy come in, JDC tries to exit halfway in, but Hardy is wrecking shop. He disposes of Eddie, Myers slides in but eats a tandem Neckbreaker/DDT from Hardy. Face team does the Delete Corner Face Smashes. Poetry in Motion into a Side Effect into Corkscrew Swanton for only 2 since Myers breaks it up! Everyone throwing hands, referee is distracted, Moose comes in to Spear Hardy, but Hardy dodges and throws him into JDC (I get the call back), Hendry then lays out Moose with the big Lariat. Twist of Fate from Hardy, Splash from Bey, Broken Alphabet wins!

Overall Score: 4/10

Ugh, cliche promos, too damn much talking, a competitive squash match with an imbecile as our first “match”, into an overbooked and slow heel match, finally a decent tag match (with the right team going over), into another overbooked match with a “tease” for the mystery backup being more obvious than Jericho’s WWF debut.

Aside from the afore mentioned tag match, The Rascalz promo and The System Promo; this was hard to watch. A lot of cornball promos, Rosemary licks her conspiracy board, storylines got zero traction. Whoopity Doo, Ryan Nemeth got a match next week and we get an undead wedding.

While this was a bad episode, it was bad by at least new standards. We’re not back in the TNA Dark Days again, but this was…a useless show.
