The Johnny Gargano Way wins out, despite almost being crushed! Will the Wednesday Knight in not so shiny armor make his 18th TakeOver his best?

Dakota Kai VS Jessi Kamea!

#CobraKai is going to take on the Evil Genius for the NXT Women’s Championship, but first she’s going to tune up and stay sharp. Will the #1 contender keep from getting ahead of herself to go into TakeOver strong?

GTK FTW and Dakota is rolling into TakeOver! Will she kick Io Shirai off her throne and take the title for the very first time? Dakota gets a mic and says “Hey, Io! You must be out of your mind!” Everything Shirai said about Dakota just proves Dakota right. Dakota is afraid of Shirai? Don’t make her laugh. Shirai is so focused on Dakota’s past while Dakota is focused on the future! TakeOver will see her take the title from Shirai. Backstage interview with Tegan Nox.

Obviously, Tegan saw as we all did, the poorly veiled threat Candice issued Tegan last week during her little “storytime” with Doggo Gargano. Tegan’s response? “Did it take me by surprise and hurt me a little? Yeah.” Tegan and Candice had been friends for years, it meant the world to Tegan. But Tegan could also easily call Candice on what she’s done these last few months. But that’s the thing about friendships. There are ups, downs and differences, and those can be fixed. Since Tegan’s the one being accused of “causing rifts,” Tegan will fix this. And it’ll be like old times: over a glass of wine. Tegan didn’t realize she was so annoying to Candice, but she’s ready to talk it out. Will words heal the apparent wounds in this friendship? Or will they have no effect on #TheJohnnyGarganoWay of thinking?

Finn Balor speaks.

“Velveteen Dream. Our first Experience was interrupted.” The attack by a still unknown assailant kept The Prince out of action when these two were meant to battle for #1 contender status. “I’ve earned my place in this business. But you? You keep getting chance after chance after chance. And in my book, you’ve failed.” Balor can’t deny Dream’s talent, but there’s no way Dream gets in his way of becoming the next NXT North American Champion. Tonight, the Experience everyone’s been waiting for finally happens. But the outcome will be the same as always: #FinnOver.

Six Man Tag: El Legado del Fantasma VS Isaiah “Swerve” Scott & Breezango!

The NXT Cruiserweight Champion and his cohorts have tried to humble and even break Tyler Breeze and Fandango as part of their mission of remaking Lucha Libre in their image. But Santos Escobar has also been ducking challengers for his championship, and now he’s in Swerve’s House. Will there be no avoiding what’s coming for the Leader of Leaders?

The teams don’t sort out, they just brawl with the bell! Swerve has Escobar while Breezango takes care of Mendoza and Wilde! The ref tries to restore order but Swerve and Escobar tumble out while Breeze stomps Wilde and Mendoza turns things around on Fandango. Escobar throws Swerve into railing while Wilde turns things around on Breeze. Breeze and Wilde spill out of the ring now, so Mendoza and Fandango are legal by default. Breeze rocks Wilde, Mendoza whips Fandango corner to corner, but Fandango comes back to clobber Mendoza! Fandango stalks Mendoza around the ring as Mendoza flounders. Mendoza gets to a corner and Fandango CHOPS him!

Fandango throws hands, whips Mendoza corner to corner, but Mendoza slips out and hotshots Fandango back! Mendoza hammerlocks the bad arm to ram it into buckles! Tag to Wilde, Wilde climbs up and leaps but into Fandango’s body shot! Fandango throws Wilde down by his hair then brings him around for a suplex. Fandango hangs Wilde out to dry and tags in Breeze. Prince Pretty and the Lord of the Dance DOUBLE BOOT Wilde down! Cover, ONE, but Breeze drags Wilde back up. Tag to Fandango, they mug Wilde and Fandango brings Wilde around. Wilde powers out of the back suplex to throw Fandango out!

Mendoza creeps around the corner but Swerve sees that! Swerve gets in to baseball slide Mendoza down! But Wilde comes around, only for Swerve to send him into barriers! Escobar runs but into a kick! DOUBLE SUPERKICKS for Wilde and Mendoza! Swerve and Breezango stand tall and NXT goes to break!

NXT returns and Fandango fires off hands on Wilde in a corner! Fandango CHOPS and CHOPS and CHOPS, then whips corner to corner. Wilde reverses, Fandango BOOTS him down! Fandango hurries up top as the crowd rallies. Escobar distracts, Wilde pushes Fandango down, and Fandango hotshots before hitting the apron and then floor! The bad arm is in bad shape again but Wilde goes out to put him back in the ring. Wilde stomps the bad arm from hand to shoulder then tags in Escobar. El Hijo del Fantasma tags in Mendoza, and the trio works together, double hip toss rebound splash! Mendoza basement LIONSAULTS! Cover, TWO!!

Fandango reaches for his corner but Mendoza fish hooks the face and kicks him back! Mendoza kicks the bad arm and has Fandango in the open corner. Mendoza hooks the arm with a leg to drop a knee on that elbow! Mendoza digs it in and taunts Breeze and Swerve at the same time. He also mocks the hip swivel before he stomps Fandango more. Mendoza wrenches the arm, digs a forearm in the shoulder and neck, but Fandango endures. The crowd rallies up as Fandango fights up. Fandango stands, but Mendoza wrenches and PELES the arm! Mendoza has Fandango in the corner again, wraps the arm on the ropes and pulls! The ref counts, Mendoza lets go and Fandango CHOPS! But Mendoza kicks the arm again!

Tag to Wilde, Wilde and Mendoza sucker punch Swerve and Breeze! Mendoza whips Wilde in but Fandango tosses him out! Mendoza runs in but Fandango POSTS him! Fandango hot tags Swerve! Swerve brings Escobar out, throws him and somersault COMPLETE SHOTS! Mendoza runs in but is sent back out. Swerve sweeps the legs and mule kicks him down!

Wilde grabs Swerve’s feet but Swerve stomps his hands. Swerve slingshots out to the apron and BOOTS Wilde down! Swerve hurries to a corner and the top rope. He aims at Escobar and leaps, into a KNEE!! Both men are down but Breeze returns to his corner. Mendoza runs in but gets an enziguri for it! Escobar waistlocks Swerve, Swerve pries at the hold, but Wilde springboards in! Swerve swings Escobar into the missile dropkick! But that dropkick also sends Swerve stumbling into Breeze and knocks him down! Swerve staggers back up, Escobar fireman’s carries, but Swerve slips out and shoves. Escobar goes up but not over, JML DRIVER!! But wait, Swerve isn’t legal?! That collision counts as a tag?!

DOUBLE DROPKICK SANDWICH! Mendoza and Wilde take Swerve out with the GAMANGIRI LEG SWEEP COMBO!! But Breeze slips in to rally on them both! Haymaker after haymaker, and then Breeze clotheslines Wilde out! And Mendoza, too! Escobar hotshots Breeze down, then drags the sputtering Prince Pretty into the fireman’s carry, PHANTOM DRIVER!! El Legado wins!!

Winners: El Legado del Fantasma, by pinfall

A technicality helps Escobar survive, because Swerve had him dead to rights! Can Escobar continue to dodge Swerve’s shot? Or is Swerve only closing in on the target that is the NXT Cruiserweight Championship?

Pat McAfee arrives at Full Sail!

“Well, well, well. Look who’s here!” McAfee has back-up in former NFL Super Bowl winner, A.J. Hawk, and former Indianapolis Colts teammate, Darius Butler. Will Hawk and Butler be enough to keep the kicker safe?

NXT has a huge announcement for TakeOver: XXX!

A match so big it has to be on the preshow! It will be an NXT Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders TRIPLE THREAT! El Legado del Fantasma puts up Wilde and Mendoza to face the One Two of Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch, and Breezango! Will Prince Pretty & the Lord of the Dance get payback while also punching their ticket to a title match? Or will the BritAm Bruisers bust things up and take that right for their own?

The Undisputed Era heads to the ring!

We saw McAfee has his boys, so Adam Cole brings his! Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong dare Pat to show up already. Pat and his guys do, coming in through the back door. The crowd is torn between applauding and booing as Pat gets a mic. “Well hello, Undisputed Era. Last week, Adam, you said, ‘Please! Please come see me face to face!'” Come back to the arena Pat got kicked out of! And here he is, along with “28 years of NFL experience” by his side, because Pat knows Cole better than Cole knows Cole. Pat knows Cole doesn’t go anywhere without “the Three Stooges,” that Cole would be nothing without them, and that he could not handle a 1v1 with someone like Pat.

Cole talks to the UE and has them back off. Is Pat ready to start now? Pat has his guys back down, too, but is still wary of Cole. Cole backs off and says, “The floor is all yours.” Pat gets in and asks if Cole remembers what happened two weeks ago. Probably not, given what happened, but Pat will remind him. HBK was checking for vitals on Cole’s “soulless body, right over yonder, next to stupid Tom Phillips.” Last week, Cole goes on this rant about how Cole was being held back and that Pat took advantage. “Blah blah blah, I outsmarted you in your own house.” Pat outsmarted Cole in Cole’s own industry.

Then Cole went on another rant about how Pat isn’t special compared to the longest reigning NXT Champion, who has wrestled all over the globe. From five people at a time in armories, bingo halls and high school gyms, to arenas in Japan and everywhere else, and made it to NXT as the biggest star in the brand. What did Cole call himself? The King of NXT? He had all the people fooled. “400 and something days, you were undefeated.” Took Pat a minute and change to knock his ass out. One swing from this foot, and it was done. Cole says Pat’s not special? How was that not special? Pat’s never been in the ring before and made Cole look amateur!

Pat has made a million dollars in seven different professions. “And you,” Cole, along with Strong, “stupid you” O’Reilly and “mustache stooge” Fish, and the wrestling community watching at home, better hope he doesn’t stick with pro-wrestling, because this would be number 8! And Saturday, it’ll end the same way it did two weeks ago. Cole will be left unconscious after throwing a temper tantrum, after losing his mind and losing his cool, because he and Pat are different levels. Pat only has two weeks to twin for a match. HHH talks trash on ESPN, saying if Pat wants to act tough, HHH can make him famous. Two weeks is all Pat will need to beat Cole! And then Cole will have to explain to the entire wrestling fandom how he lost to an outside!

Pat explains how: Cole is great in this world, but Pat is next level. Pat is above Cole as a human, as an athlete, and it will end with one swing of Pat’s foot, meeting Cole’s face and sending it to the moon! The only sound “any of these idiots in here” will hear, is “BOOM!” Pat throws the mic down and Cole nods. Cole’s turn to talk. But security gets in to keep him back! Pat talks smack from the other side of that line and Cole backs off. Cole then shoves one guard into another, DECKS the third and throws the fourth into the first! BOOT for the second, SUPERKICK for the third! And Pat realizes he’s in trouble. Cole steps closer but Pat’s boys step up. So Cole’s boys step up.

Cole says if Pat wants to go, he and his boys can get in and get mangled! We won’t have to wait until Saturday! No? That’s what the UE thought. Cole steps closer and tells him that this Saturday, “I’m gonna make you my b*tch.” Cole backs away, and the UE takes their leave. Pat talked a big game, but game day is coming. Will Cole rough the kicker so bad Pat decides to stick with podcasting?

Aliyah shrieks before she takes the FACEBUSTER! Cover, Mercedes breaks it!

Shotzi ENZIGURIS Mercedes down! Rhea shouts at Stone to shut up, and then tags in Shotzi. Pump handle and RIPTIDE, before Shotzi climbs up top. Mercedes trips Shotzi up! Rhea ROCKS Mercedes with that right then hip tosses her inside! Mercedes staggers up but dodges Rhea to POST her! Rhea ends up on the apron, Mercedes runs at her but the boot misses! Rhea has Mercedes off the apron, for a POWERBOMB to the outside!! Where were the Plexiglas boards!? Stone freaks out and goes to check on Mercedes while Shotzi adjusts. SUPER SENTON!! Cover, Shotzi and Rhea win!!

Winners: Shotzi Blackheart & Rhea Ripley, by pinfall

The heavy metal rebels just rocked the Robert Stone Brand to the core! Will this finally end the obsession and allow Rhea and Shotzi to move on?

NXT previews the coming NXT Championship match, Keith Lee VS Karrion Kross.

The return of the Great American Bash was the culmination of all the Limitless One’s hard work and perseverance in his career. It was Winner Take All as the then North American Champion challenged Adam Cole BAYBAY! Needless to say, it was one for the ages and made history by crowning Keith Lee as the first-ever dual NXT and North American Champion, ending Adam Cole’s incredible reign. But a champion with that big of a target on his back obviously had the attention of the doomsday duo.

Kross says that “Each day, a man attempts to climb the mountain. But only when he reaches the top can he see, he’s been climbing a volcano.” The volcano is waiting to erupt. Mr. Lee, this is your volcano. Kross came to NXT, warning us all of the end. Tommaso Ciampa tried to cancel that end at TakeOver: In Your House, but he got much more than he bargained for. The sand in the hourglass began to pour, but Keith smashed that hourglass. That only added to Kross’ aggression. As did Dominik Dijakovic saying Kross is not on Keith’s level. Kross took out Keith’s rival with viciousness rarely seen in NXT, and then made Keith watch as Dijakovic’s face turned purple in the Krossjacket.

Kross gave Keith a choice: the easy way or the hard way. William Regal refused to let it be that way, so Kross brutalized even more NXT superstars. This forced Regal’s hand, and he allowed Keith to hand Kross a contract. The contract was signed, but Scarlett Bordeaux added her own special touch in a flash paper fireball trap!! Keith’s eyes were nearly burned away but he’s still cleared to compete! “I will whoop that ass.” The collision course is coming. The clock keeps ticking. TakeOver: XXX is the time and place, but who survives to reign supreme?

NXT North American Championship Second Chance Qualifier: Finn Balor VS Velveteen Dream!

Who will be the fifth and final man in the TakeOver: XXX ladder match? Who is truly the Prince of NXT? Both these questions will be answered with one match as we finally have our #fOreVERExperience!

They circle more, approach and tie up. Balor headlocks to the takeover and denies the headscissor counter. Balor throws Dream’s sunglasses away and hits a second takeover, but Dream gets the headscissors this time. Balor fights that off and then throws the do-rag away! Dream fights back up, Balor holds the headlock but Dream rolls him to a cover! ONE, Balor stays on but Dream powers up and out. Dream comes back to taunt Balor, but Balor gets up, only for Dream to ROCK him! Dream drags Balor into the suplex but Balor knees back! Balor knees more, cravats, snapmares and KICKS! Cover, TWO! Balor keeps on Dream with a thrashing chinlock but Dream flails and fights up. They go around, Balor wrangles Dream down and grinds on the hold. Dream endures, fights up and throws body shots. Dream ROCKS Balor, runs, but Balor elbows Dream down! Cover, TWO! Balor drags Dream into the chinlock, grinds him down again, and NXT returns to single picture.

Dream fights up to jawbreaker free! Balor staggers back, brings Dream around and CHOPS him! And CHOPS him! And whips, but Dream reverses. Balor ducks the heel kick, comes back but into Dream’s Thesz Press! Dream rains down fast hands then shouts, “Wolfpac in the house!” Dream howls as his gear makes sense now. Dream stalks Balor and clamps onto the shoulders! He bumps Balor right into buckles then CHOPS him to the other corner. Dream bumps Balor off more buckles, Too Sweets and SLAPS him! Balor sputters but Dream CLUBS him on the back. Dream goes for another buckle bump but Balor blocks to throw body shots back!

Balor sweeps the leg with a kick! Then another kick! Dream flips upside down but Balor keeps kicking! Balor drags Dream to the center to drop an elbow on the knee! Balor cranks the leg in a toehold and keeps Dream from using a leg to counter. Dream’s shoulders are down, TWO as Dream clubs Balor. Dream throws more shots then uses his leg again. Balor just uses that leg against the first for a modified deathlock! Dream powers up, avoids Balor adding a crossface to this, and drags himself towards ropes for the ROPEBREAK! Balor lets go quick but he comes back to go after the legs again! Balor puts the leg on the ropes to dig his knee in and then drop down on it! Balor stomps, the ref reprimands and Balor backs off.

Dream crawls, Balor gets the leg again and pulls Dream from the ropes. Balor trips Dream up again to drop back down on the leg for another toehold. Dream pulls at Balor’s arm to turn this but Balor clasps hands. Dream uses his longer legs to break that grip and then stomp away on Balor! Dream lets go of the arm as he works out his legs. Dream slaps Balor on the back of the head, but Balor gets up. Dream DECKS Balor but Balor gets up. The crowd rallies, Dream CLUBS Balor but Balor throws forearms. Dream DECKS Balor again!

Dream looms over Balor at the ropes but Balor gets to a corner. Dream climbs up to rain down rights, then swivels his hips right at Balor’s head. Dream keeps punching, “Where’s my count?” Dream makes sure he gets 10 before he lets off. Dream leaps but the leg lariat gets buckles! Balor CHOPS and CHOPS and sweeps the other leg! Balor stomps away on Dream but the ref backs him off. Dream flounders up, Balor comes back but Dream elbows him hard! Dream leaps and ax handles! Balor staggers back up, Dream brings him for a hotshot bulldog! Does Tony Nese know Dream knows his move? Balor snaps back and Dream tumbles to the ladders.

Dream sees the title hanging just overhead, but Cameron Grimes comes out, boasting already that the belt belongs to him. The ref tells Grimes to stay back, this match is still going. Grimes continues to talk as Dream gets back in the ring. Will the Technical Savage shut up while NXT goes to break?

NXT returns once more and Dream apologizes to the ref about something, while Grimes sits on top of a ladder and holds the North American Championship! Seems Grimes didn’t shut up at all, and Dream whips Balor corner to corner HARD! Dream hurries over, tells Grimes to watch as he KICKS Balor in the ribs! Grimes isn’t impressed, he’s too busy looking at the belt. Dream brings Balor up and scoops him and hits a backbreaker! Grimes is still not impressed, even as Dreams swivels at him. Dream throws a BIG uppercut on Balor then flexes. Dream brings Balor up, whips him to ropes but Balor reverses. Dream sunset flips, Balor rolls through to basement dropkick! Grimes laughs again as both men go to opposite corners.

Balor runs in but into a haymaker! Dream hops up but Balor trips him up! Balor drags Dream backwards into the Tree of Woe, stomps away on the legs and hips until Dream falls out! Grimes laughs more but Balor is on Dream with CHOPS! Balor whips corner to corner, runs and CHOPS! And then back the other way, Dream tumbles over and out! Grimes decides to start climbing down as Dream crawls over to his ladder. Balor goes out and stomps away on Dream right at the ladder. Balor then climbs up to get at Grimes, but Dream yanks Balor down! Dream gives Balor an apron snake eyes! Grimes feels relieved as he gets to sit on the ladder alone again.

Dream puts Balor in the ring, Too Sweets and brings Balor in, but Balor turns the DreamDT into the dragon sleeper. Dream slips around to trip and jackknife roll to the fireman’s carry! But no Dream Valley Driver, either, as Balor hits that elbow drop DDT! Balor grits his teeth as he takes aim from the corner. Dream stands up, and gets the SHOTGUN DROPKICK! Dream bounces off buckles, Balor glares at Grimes as he climbs up the corner. Grimes decides to climb down again, but Dream hops up to join Balor! SUPERPLEX!! Both men are down and Grimes sits on the ladder again. But wait, here comes Gargano! Gargano pushes the ladder over and Grimes FLIES into the ring, crashing into the ref!!

Grimes flounders back to his feet while Balor and Dream get up. They both glare at Grimes, Balor trips up and STOMPS Grimes down! Grimes flounders back up into Dream’s FAMOUSER! Balor SLING BLADES Dream! Balor takes aim again, but runs into a SUPERKICK! Grimes is out of the ring, Balor and Dream are down in the ring, and now Gargano picks up the belt as if it’s already his. But wait! Here comes Bronson Reed! Auszilla won’t let Gargano think he can just grin his way into TakeOver! Reed chases Gargano into the ring, Gargano wants Reed to take it easy, but he backs into Damian Priest! Gargano reaches up to check, and yes, it’s the Archer of Infamy.

Gargano tries to reason with both big men, but before he can use the belt as a weapon, Priest ROCKS him and Reed tosses him! Reed turns around to see Priest holding the belt. Priest tosses it to Reed so Priest can ROUNDHOUSE him! Reed stays up, Priest runs, Dream SUPERKICKS Priest first! Reed clotheslines Priest and himself out of the ring!! Dream holds the belt but Balor clotheslines him out! And then Balor FLIES out onto Reed and Priest! Balor tempts fate by walking under the ladder, and gets CLOBBERED by Timothy Thatcher!! The Professor of Pain already sent Balor a message, but here’s another one! Thatcher drags Balor up and throws him into the ring for Dream’s DREAM VALLEY DRIVER!!

Dream flounders to a corner, the ref finally revives and Dream drops the PURPLE RAIN MAKER!! Cover, Dream wins!!

Winner: The Velveteen Dream, by pinfall (advances to TakeOver: XXX)

We have our fifth man, brother! But before Dream can properly celebrate, Gargano SUPERKICKS him down! Gargano walks over to the North American Championship and picks it up. Gargano gives it a kiss, holds it up, but Grimes SUPERKICKS him down! But Priest gets Grimes for the SOUTH OF HEAVEN CHOKE SLAM! Reed CLOBBERS Priest! Reed blocks Dream’s boot for the DEATH VALLEY DRIVER! Reed holds up the title last tonight, but will he be the one to hold it in the end?

My Thoughts:

This was a pretty wild go-home, especially for NXT. We got right to the action with the first “second chance” qualifier, Gargano VS Holland was a great match but that was a scary powerslam botch! I thought Gargano was going to be done because of that, but I suppose he was able to take it like any driver move. Holland looked great even though Gargano goes over, but it makes for great stuff in the #TJGW story. Gargano getting involved in that wildly “overbooked” ending segment of the main event match also proves he was okay, and it is great to know he’ll be in the ladder match. Balor VS Dream was a great match, even with the other participants getting involved.

I should’ve figured Thatcher would attack Balor tonight to keep him out of the ladder match as opposed to getting involved in the ladder match and screw him out then. I don’t know if this sets up a TakeOver match this last minute, but that story can definitely be a major part of the build to the next one. However, I do feel like the #1 contender Triple Threat to the NXT Tag Team Championships is last minute just to counter Saturday Night Dynamite trying to counter program TakeOver. The overlap definitely complicates things for me, expect AEW Dynamite coverage to come after TakeOver coverage. That Triple Threat is partially set up by tonight’s Six Man, which was a really great match. I do have to credit the creativity of that technicality that cost Swerve and helped El Legado. I hope that, with help from 205 Live, Escobar VS Swerve is set up for either a big time NXT or the next TakeOver.

The NXT Championship preview was another great video package, the NXT team always does great with those. I loved the face-to-face of Cole and Pat. Pat talked a lot of great trash in his promo, Cole used actions to speak for him instead, and I actually am interested in seeing that match now. Dakota Kai gets a good enough win, but the big surprise is Raquel Gonzalez returning. It seems Dakota was just tricking everyone into thinking she ditched the Daughter of the Desperado and now she has her insurance policy back in her corner for TakeOver. I still feel like Io Shirai finds a way to overcome the odds because she’s that great. Candice and Tegan are slowly getting their rivalry on track and that can definitely help build towards the next TakeOver.

Rhea and Shotzi had a great match with The Robert Stone Brand, and WOW Rhea bombing Mercedes to the floor! Did not see that coming, it really added a lot to that finish and to this feud. I really hope Payback’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship challengers are also decided by a Triple Brand something or other, I feel like Rhea and Shotzi already have this chemistry and matching theme that works for a team. For one, Rhea has already faced Sasha Banks via Survivor Series’ Women’s 5v5v5, and then she can check off Bayley as another of the NXT Four Horsewomen. Plus, if Rhea and Shotzi were to somehow win, Rhea becomes a unique Women’s Triple Crown winner by having been NXT UK, NXT USA and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. But that probably won’t happen as Vince McMahon only barely allows NXT to be the third brand.

My Score: 9.1/10

Andrew’s TNA iMPACT! Results & Match Ratings: 9.12.2024

Go Home for Victory Road! See if anything more comes from NXT’s Wendy Choo and her interest in Jordynne Grace.

Published

on

Well TNA sends out an email after the show if you’re on the mailing list, and they stole my questions idea from last week. But when it comes down to things, questions aren’t super necessary since tomorrow if Victory Road: The Rematch Clause – the unofficial next movie in Tim Allen’s family fun comedy of The Santa Clause.

I will say though, Wendy Choo is at least a potential interesting wrinkle and Josh Alexander has been making some quality tweets. If Josh loses at Rematch Road, the hilarity that should ensue, is definitely something I look forward to. Josh likes to call Hendry a meme, and if he loses Hendry should use the “It can’t hurt you its not real” meme template. Like “Meme Hendry Can’t Hurt You, He’s Not a Real Wrestler”, next panel is the pinfall, “OH SHIT”.

So let’s see what they do in the Go Home.

Ratings:

  • Hammerstone vs Steve Maclin: Maclin wins via School Boy – ** 1/2
  • Heather Reckless vs Gisele Shaw: Reckless wins via REKT – **
  • Tornado Match: The ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) vs First Cla$$ (KC Navarro & AJ Francis): ABC wins via 1-2-SWEET – ** 3/4
  • ASH by Elegance w/Personal Concierge vs Xia Brookside: ASH wins via Roll-Up – **
  • The Hardyz vs The System (Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards) w/Alisha Edwards: The Hardyz win via Swanton Bomb – ** 1/2

Results:

Hammerstone vs Steve Maclin

Now this isn’t fair, making me choose between these two.

Both start off exchanging a few strikes, nothing fancy, but it should be noted that Maclin’s left shoulder has the KT tape all over. So that’s definitely a solid excuse if Maclin eats the loss here and Hammer needs some momentum after he’s rather lame first few months. Maclin had the advantage until Hammer go a bit pissed, runs Maclin over and pulls off a shortarm Chokeslam, then keeps wrist control on the bad arm and runs him across the ropes with Knee Lifts for fun. Scoop Slam into a few pinfall attempts, but obviously not a finish, so Hammer locks in an Abdominal Stretch. Hammer transitions the Stretch into a Pump Handle Overhead Suplex.

Hammerstone goes for the Rack, but Maclin just starts throwing fists, boots, whatever he can to keep some distance before a Backbreaker gives Maclin the chance to lay into him in the corner, Tree of Woe, CAUGHT IN THE CROSSHAIRS, for 2. KIA attempt, but Hammer counters with a Powerslam. They spill outside, Maclin hits the SCUD even with the banged up shoulder, chucks Hammer back in, heads to the top for the JarHeadButt, but Hammer cuts him off, goes up and AVALANCHE OVERHEAD BELLY TO BELLY! Both are down and selling, Maclin tries Busaiku, but misses, Carbon Footprint from Hammer! NIGHTMARE – NOPE! Maclin slips it, School Boy…and MACLIN WINS!?

Post-Match, Hammer attacks Maclin, Racks him so EY comes down for the save. Jake follows after but just stands next to Hammer and they seem to have come to an unspoken alliance. Hammer & Something versus Young & Maclin could become a thing for Victory Road. I would dub them, Hammer Daddies versus Maniac Marines.

Heather Reckless vs Gisele Shaw

Gisele grabs a Headlock early which is easy since Heather is 4 foot 9…literally. It’s like watching Polly Pocket wrestle. I feel like Heather should tag with Octagoncito. The size discrepancy is the story early, Heather tries a few quick roll ups, but no real offense and Gisele just runs her post to post and off the ropes dropping her with the Flying Uppercut. I feel like I can hear someone’s parents saying “You’re twice her size, put her down, its not fair”.

Heather pulls off the Tilt-a-Whirl DDT to finally get a chance to catch her breath, which then of course turns into a strike exchange. ASH by Elegance and the Personal Concierge walk down the ramp and just watch the match so far. But Gisele charges, Drop Toe Hold bounces her face off the buckles, middle rope Moonsault, Heather goes for another move in the corner but Gisele grabs her and stops her momentum, Heather uses the ropes to bounce her torso off it and do a Rebound Canadian Destroyer. Heather looks for more offense but Gisele grabs her SHock&AWe, but only two. Gisele goes to the top, but the Concierge distracts the ref, ASH rocks Gisele on the top rope and Heather hits her Springboard Spanish Fly she calls REKT.

Kind of a nothing match, but I’m guessing this leads to ASH versus Gisele tomorrow. Especially with the news of Gisele leaving the company. So I doubt she’s sticking around for many more events.

To no one’s surprise, sexy Kung Lao is Xia Li. She’s looks pretty badass, so I’m really hoping TNA has ideas for her. Aside from being attractive, she’s legit and looks good wrestling with the right opponents. Maybe she can fight Xia Brookside in her first match, loser loses the Xia name.

Cardona comes out with SDL, says some dumb shit, talks about being told he’s got a tag match tomorrow against PCO and Rhino. So he choose SDL as his partner, PCO comes out, SDL Low Blows Cardona, PCO Chokeslams him and they stand triumphant…but this is a dumb storyline.

Speaking of storylines I don’t care about, there’s a promo package with Spitfire. Let’s not get it twisted, I really like Dani…I think Jody is useless. The team also has no personality, they had Lars Frederickson as a manager to try and connect them with their punk/ska/mod squad visuals…but they have no real personality. They like sortuv punk music and they’re kinda high energy, but who are they aside from Dani just being stacked. Which isn’t a personality…just something I enjoy.

Tornado Match: The ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) vs First Cla$$ (KC Navarro & AJ Francis)

ABC takes advantage early using Navarro as a weapon against AJ, a few nice dives, kicking a fan sign into AJ’s face while he’s down on the outside and then they slowly start to double team KC. Tandem Arm Drag happens before Ace decides to try and go ensure AJ stays out, but as they brawl, AJ’s size finally evens the score and First Cla$$ start taking over. AJ rocks Ace, Bey tries to fly out to help but gets caught, eats a bear paw to the chest, gets dropped on stairs and the apron, and its just a general mauling.

They come back from Picture in Picture, and just more of the same, ABC is getting rocked in the corners, Tennessee Whiskey for everybody, KC picks off Bey, takes him to the outside and uses the post for a few nice redirection moves and drives Bey’s ribs into the post before connecting on a Double Stomp from the apron. Ace goes Spider Monkey on AJ, but of course gets whipped down and beat to hell. Tandem Powerbomb into Ace’s chest for back to back near falls. Bey flies across the sky, AJ ducks it but Bey connects the Lariat on KC. ABC double AJ, Spike Brainbuster tandem move from ABC but AJ throws Ace into the cover to break it up. ABC tries the Double Team Suplex on AJ, he fights it at first, Tandem Ripcord Knees first then they get the big man over for a near fall. KC tries a sneaky Small Package but only two. Art of Finesse but AJ catches him out of mid air, shrugs off Ace, turns Bey around for the Down Payment, but Bey turns it into a CUTTER! Ace hits the Fold! so 1-2-Sweet the hard way!

She definitely inherited her father’s sense of humour, and I’m not mad at it. The Sandman joke was pretty great and pinky swearing work perfect for this Disney Adult bubbleheaded princess thing she has going on.

ASH by Elegance w/Personal Concierge vs Xia Brookside

Okay…so now let’s see if I still find Xia charming and better at wrestling. Maybe something has changed to right the world.

First few spots are attempted Collar & Elbows but a lot of ASH talking smack. So character work before a shoving match, then Xia hits the Drop Toe Hold when ASH tries to charge and she starts taking control. Xia…literally blocks ASH’s slaps and makes her hit herself. That’s…brilliant. Dammit. Running Crossbody gives Xia the early pinfall attempt, Xia tries a Sunset Flip, ASH blocks, tries to drop down, but Xia moves and ASH complains about her butt.

Xia kicks her in the back, goes for the Rope Run PK, but Concierge trips Xia and ASH takes over. ASH throws Xia into the corner torso first and…slaps her butt. Repaying the butt pain. The spot was a little slow, but amusing. ASH throws Xia into the ropes, Sattelite into the Octopus from Xia. ASH fights through but Xia turns it into a Russian Leg Sweep and throws her into the corner. Back to Back Broken Wings, but Concierge appeals on the apron. Xia gets a little cocky, wiggles around, goes for a third, but misses and crashes into the corner. Heather Reckless runs down, pulls Xia into the post and ASH rolls up Xia for the win.

Spots were a bit slow, but from a character perspective this was fine. It solidifies Heather as ASH’s protege, Xia being the babyface to get screwed over, and when she was on the offensive she looked fine. The clunk came from her either telegraphing a spot she was on the receiving end of, or a slow to develop spot and odd sell.

The Hardyz vs The System (Brian Myers & Eddie Edwards) w/Alisha Edwards

Matt and Myers start off and the crowd chants happy birthday at Jeff, but nothing comes from the early tie up. Shoulder Tackle from Matt, Shoulder Breakers over and over, tags in Jeff for the Axe Handle across the weakened arm. Jeff with multiple Arm Wringers into the Arm DDT, and the crowd goes back to Happy Birthday. Jeff tags back in Matt, Matt goes to the middle rope, grabs the bad arm and Avalanche Arm Drag sends Myers flying. Eddie manages to get in the ring to distract Matt from continuing the offense, so Myers with the Tackle, drives Matt back to tag in Eddie.

Eddie’s offense doesn’t last very long as he gets Rocket Launched into the bottom rope, Jeff tags back in, Stomp on the apron, Dropkick to the small of the back, but Eddie with a burst of adrenaline and just rushes to tag out to Myers. Again, offense is short lived, they get stacked in the corner, Splash version of Poetry in Motion, Double Clotheslines send the System crashing outside. Jeff gets to the apron, and dives on the System members, to a nice crowd response. Jeff throws in Myers, Myers grabs the ref and Eddie snags Jeff’s foot. By the time he shakes off Eddie, Brian kicks the middle rope to do the Low Blow thing, and starts taking over while we head to picture in picture. The System stays in control with deliberate offense just dissecting Jeff. As we come out of PiP, Jeff starts firing back, Jawbreaker, and Matt tags in! Lariat, Back Elbow into the Delete Head Smashes into the buckles. Matt goes for the Lariat into Bulldog combo, Myers pushes him off but eats a Side Effect. Hardy throws off the shirt, Extreme Elbow, but only a 2! Big Twist of Fate chant, Matt tries it, Myers pushes off so Eddie hits him in the back. Matt tries to chase Eddie but he hides behind Lish, allowing Myers time for a Baseball Slide and to start taking over. Eddie gets the official tag to be the legal person beating on Matt on the outside. Matt gets thrown back in and The System make sure to distract the ref and take advantage of situations whenever Matt tries to mount a comeback. Quick tags in and out from both, just controlling Matt. Eddie is legal, tries to cut Matt off from Jeff with a positioned Headlock, and they push back Matt from a chance to tag. Myers tags in and the Headlock control continues.

Belly to Back Suplex from Myers, looks for the Roster Cut, but eats a right hand into a Neckbreaker! Simultaneous tags, Jeff uses Eddie’s face as a Speedbag. Eddie tries to push him off, but Jeff hits a Sling Blade, into the Low Dropkick and Low Leg Drop he always does. Myers breaks up a pinfall, Jeff takes him out with Whisper in the Wind. Twist of Fate for Eddie! Jeff looks for the Swanton, but Eddie grabs his foot. Eddie don’t want no Croutons. Myers comes back, knocks Matt off the apron, Hart Attack! But of course only a 2. System Overload attempt but the whole spot took too long. Matt was already in position before the cut off time happened. It was poorly executed, worse than a Pentagon waiting for his spot moment.

Of course the Hardyz win off that, Twist from Matt, Crouton from Jeff…would’ve been pretty good with a receptive crowd…if the lead in to the finish didn’t look so stupid.

Overall Score: 6/10

I always try to look at a Go Home like the only thing some people watch before a PLE. So from a setting up the card and potential stories for Bound for Glory, I think the show did its job. New pairing of Heather & ASH, Hardyz went over to look like they’re still a the top of their game, Joe looked like gold and framed the Josh match well, Hammer Daddies are definitely a Hulk Smash tandem I’m totally okay with. Choo’s involvement makes sense with the segments shown, also makes you wonder about the intentions of Arianna. But I will say her segment was good character work. Funny, clever enough, and gave us things to chew on. And of course The System still being the major heel faction was present. I still don’t love their presentation, but again, if someone didn’t watch last week, this cleared the air.

Let’s see where Rematch Cruise Lines takes us and how we start to build a Bound for Glory buzz. It is TNA’s biggest show, so this should have some surprises and buzz.

CMLL’s star is shining bright here in ROH! But will he and Team Mexico defeat Satoshi Kojima’s Team Internacional at the CMLL Anniversario?

Billie Starkz & Athena talk backstage.

Minion 400,237 & 3/4ths says she is the one who called this Emergency Minion Empowerment Meeting. There has been a lot going on in ROH these last few weeks, so Billie just wants to talk with “Boss” Athena about what they’ve got planned. Athena asks what Billie means. Oh, wait, she’s got it. “Lexy Nair, absolute perfection for MIT and everything that it represents. From her plan from Death Before Dishonor, to her helping me singlehandedly be rid of Aminata. And I’m just loving it!” Athena wants to promote Lexy more. New shirt? No, better! Change her minion number! She will be Minion Number 1 Bestie Lexy Nair.

Billie’s face says she’s not so sure so Athena rethinks it. That is too long, anyway. Um… Minion Number 1. That is it! It’s beautiful, sweet, put it on an LED jacket and light it up like the stars! Lexy deserves it, because she has done nothing but live by Athena’s word and everything she represents, and Athena couldn’t ask for a better Minion! Billie says NO! NO!! Is Athena kidding her?! Billie cools off and Athena addresses her as, “Minion?” Billie says she doesn’t understand. Lexy has gotten credit for everything BILLIE has done! Everything she has done for Athena, and everything she has done for the ROH Women’s World Championship. No touchy.

Billie says at the PPV, Lexy got the credit. Tonight, Lexy got the credit. But if you’d actually watched the footage…! Athena repeats, “Footage? Billie, are you snitching on Lexy right now?” Is Billie jealous of all the progress and success Lexy has had? That is not okay. No one likes being around someone who is “jelly,” Billie. But Athena gets it, she understands. Billie is envious of Lexy, and it is okay. But don’t let jealousy overshadow the happiness for Athena’s new Number 1 Minion, okay? And the next time Billie puts hands on Athena, or Her Precious title, just remember: Snitches get stitches.

And what Athena did before to Billie, she is willing to do ten times over. Athena leaves, but is now the time Billie gets out from under her thumb?

Queen Aminata VS Harley Cameron!

Speaking of Aminata, she put up quite the fight against AEW Women’s World Champion, Mariah May, just last night on Dynamite. Aminata still hasn’t had her crowning achievement, but could she be on the doorstep of an opportunity? Or will this Outcast from down under add to the bad mood?

The Code of Honor if upheld, the bell rings, and the fans rally up as the two circle. They tie up, and Harley knees low! Harley headlocks, hits the takeover, but Aminata headscissors. The fans cheer, and Aminata pushes up to twerk on Harley. Harley kips free, Aminata storms up to headlock. Harley brings Aminata down to a knee, then slips out the back to headlock in return. But then Aminata brings Harley down, pops out the back, and then steps over to twerk right on Harley! Aminata wrenches, Harley rolls, and Harley drop toeholds. Harley floats to a headlock, and she grinds Aminata. Aminata fights up, and snapmares free.

Aminata runs to PENALTY KICK! Cover, TWO! Harley stays in this and says, “My face!” Aminata drags Harley up but Harley fires a forearm! Harley whips, Aminata reverses, but Harley goes up and out. Aminata runs up, but Harley ROUDNHOUSES! And HOTSHOTS! Harley drags Aminata out, fires knee after knee, then SMACKS Aminata off the apron! Harley taunts the fans, then stalks after Aminata. Aminata hits first, but Hartley SMACKS Aminata off the apron, then CHOPS her! Aminata turns things around to CHOP back! Aminata shakes out her hands but fans want that “One More Time!” Aminata puts Harley in first, but Harley knees low!

Harley fires more knees, then clinches, to RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP! Cover, ONE!! Aminata frowns and the fans fire up. Harley tells the fans to shut up, and she brings Aminata up. Aminata fires body shots, Harley fires forearms. Harley shoves, runs, but Aminata ROCKS her! Aminata runs, but Harley LARIATS! Cover, ONE! Aminata stays in this but Harley mocks the fans. “This is your queen?!” The fans chant, “She’s Our Queen! She’s Our Queen!” as Harley drags Aminata up. Aminata fires body shots, but Harley fires forearms! Aminata rises, and she ROCKS Harley right back! The fans fire up, and Aminata wrenches Harley to a snap suplex!

Harley stands, but Aminata ROCKS her again! And then LARIATS! Harley gets up again, but Aminata reels her in! FISHERMAN SCREW! Cover, TWO! Harley survives but Aminata is amused. Harley crawls to a corner, the fans rally with Aminata as she claps. Aminata runs up, but Harley avoid the hip attack! Harley comes back, but Aminata goes up and over to ROCK Harley! Aminata sits Harley down, goes side to side, BOOT WASH! Aminata says she IS the one and only, and drags Harley to a cover, TWO! Aminata is annoyed but she paces around. Backstage interview with Harley Cameron.

Melissa Santos says Harley went to war with Aminata. How is she- Oh wait, Rachael Ellering steps in. And she mocks Harley by asking if this is ROH. Oh, it is? Well, golly, she’s Rachael, nice to meet you. Oh, tag’s out. And uh, looks like Harley had quite the hard match tonight. How’d it go? Did she win? Harley hesitates and Rachael asks if she won. NO! She didn’t win! Oh, no~! Well, Harley, you know what they say. Fall down five times, stand up six. That’s what they say~! Harley storms off, Rachael mockingly asks “Kid” to come back. Rachael then smiles as she tells Melissa, “Harley’s a good kiddo.”

Seems Harley can’t take her own medicine, but will she and the Queen of Strong Style settle this in the ring?

But will they all work together to bring down the big bad Bronson & Boulder?

Jacoby Watts speaks.

The false prophet is backstage with Nick Comoroto as he tells EJ Nduka, “You stuck your nose where it doesn’t belong: In Jacoby Watts’ business. How dare you! Well it sounds like you want a fight, my friend. And if it’s a fight you want, it’s what you can have. Whether it’s Jacoby Watts or Nick Comoroto, you can get your fight. And we have no fear, because we live by one simple rule: Praise be the He, and He, is Me.” Watts & Comoroto smile, but will their misplaced faith be their undoing against The Judge?

Sammy Guevara VS Ariya Daivari w/ The Premier Athletes!

The Spanish God and Team Texas already whooped The Premier Athletes at All Out last Saturday, but it seems they’re not going away any time soon. “Smart” Mark tells Bobby Cruise to cease and desist, he’ll handle the introductions. “Everybody knows that we are The Premier Athletes, and this is Ariya Daivari! As a matter of fact, boys, Ariya wants this match to be one-on-one, so you’ve got the night off.” They shake hands, and while Woods & Nese return to the back, Sterling continues with Daivari. Sterling says Daivari is the richest, most fit, and most successful athlete to ever enter the state of Texas!

And their opponent, who is from Texas, represents all of these fat losers! What, is he Jacked Jameson now? Daivari takes the mic to say, “For the past month that I have been here, there is nothing more I would like than to come out there and punch each and every single one of you Texas pieces of garbage in the face!” The fans boo but Daivari says he can’t do that, because he’d get arrested. So he’ll just beat up a Texas local and kick his ass in front of all these fans! The fans boo but does Daivari not realize who he’s facing?

Sammy Guevara makes his entrance, and not only is he NOT a fat loser, he’s one half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions! Will Sammy slap Daivari in the face for every one of the Texas fans here tonight?

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and the fans rally as the two circle. They tie up, Daivari headlocks, but Sammy powers up and out. Daivari runs Sammy over, but Sammy kips up so smooth! Sammy and Daivari circle, the fans rally more, but Daivari talks smack on the fans. Sammy lounges on the ropes, but then he and Daivari circle again. They tie up, Sammy waistlocks, but Daivari wrenches free. Daivari talks trash, cranks the wrist, but Sammy moves around. Daivari then POSTS Sammy, drags him into the ring, and he hugs with Sterling. The fans boo as Sterling raises Daivari’s hand. Daivari storms into the ring, whips Sammy into buckles hard, then brings him around. Daivari bumps Sammy off buckles again, and again!

The fans chant “Sterling Sucks!” but Daivari drags Sammy up. Daivari whips Sammy corner to corner hard and Sammy falls to the mat! Sterling & Daivari mockingly applaud, then Daivari drags Sammy back up. Daivari whips corner to corner again, but Sammy BOOTS back! Sammy runs up, but Daivari wrenches, hooks, and backslides, TWO! Sammy stands, blocks a shot and he ROCKS Daivari! And CHOPS! And ROCKS! Daivari drop toeholds to drop a BIG elbow! The fans boo but Daivari says shove it! Daivari stalks Sammy to ropes, then drags him up by his hair. The ref reprimands but Daivari puts Sammy in the ropes.

Winner: Sammy Guevara, by pinfall

The entire stable couldn’t stop the Spanish God! He and Dustin already have the ROH World Tag Team Championships, will Sammy look to go get even more gold for himself?

Backstage interview with Red Velvet.

Lexy Nair is with The Chef, and is clearly reluctant to talk to the ROH Women’s World Television Champion. Lexy asks how it feels to currently be in possession of Billie Starkz’s belt. Velvet says Lexy meant to call her the champion. No, she did not. There is more to being a champion than holding a shiny piece of metal. Velvet stops Lexy there, and says she is really starting to sound… bitter. But then again, not surprising. That has been the flavor around here for a long time, being around Athena and her… Minions. But Velvet is champ now, and she’s here to say “The Mean Girl Era” has ended.

In fact, it’s time Velvet sweetens things up. But in steps Diamante. Is that what this is about? Because she has been trying to wrap her head around why Velvet would idiotically stick her nose in Diamante’s business. This locker room does not need saving. It is the jungle out there! Dog eat dog! And Velvet’s running around here like “Captain Save-a-ho.” There’s a saying: No good deed goes unpunished. That is what is standing right in front of Velvet. Diamante is her punishment. Velvet says yeah, that’s all Diamante is doing: standing there. When’s Diamante gonna step up? Diamante says she’ll see.

Diamante leaves, Lexy turns her nose up at Velvet, and Velvet leaves. When and where will The Cuban Diamond go after Red Velvet’s gold?

Anthony Henry gets a cameraman.

The Saint of Augusta wants to talk in private. He knows everyone wants to know what’s going on with JD Drake, where he’s been, how he’s doing, when’s he coming back. JD will be back soon, rehabbing, doing his thing. And this whole thing with Henry’s “cousin,” Beef, he just pops up and- Oh, here he comes now. And why is he already so wet? He was stretching, doing box jumps, jumping jacks, push-ups, because they’re on the BIG stage, man! He’s gotta be readyyy~! Y-Yeah, that’s true. He’s doing good. Beef says they’re UNDEFEATED, man! They’re great! Doing great! Henry says yes, they are, technically.

Henry just wants Beef to chill. Chill? Yeah, chill. Hold on, he’s got a phone call. Oh, is that JD? Henry tries to have the call in private but Beef’s still asking, hopping around and stuff. Henry says he’s sure he’s told everyone by now, they’re just cousins through marriage. Yeah, the tattoo is a bit odd. But no, no, he has only a couple weeks left, then he’ll be back so they can start where they left off. They’re still Workhorsemen. Beef adds yeah, Workhorsemen 4 Life! Love you, JD! Henry hangs up and asks Beef what in the world he is doing. What? Beef, this whole hyper thing! Just look. Chill. Out. Because if not, when JD meets Beef in person, JD’s gonna slap Beef in the face!

Beef says he doesn’t want that. Then chill. Please. Henry leaves, Beef takes a breath and says okay, he will work on being chill. But he can’t chill, he’s BEEF! Beef can’t believe he’s here in ROH, alongside his cousin and soon, JD Drake. Let’s go! Will things not go smoothly when the Workhorsemen are reunited?

Lio Rush VS Rocky Romero!

The Bad Child could not quite take the AEW TNT Championship from Jack Perry, but he’s still looking strong in the running. Will a match with his former teacher help him refresh? Or will Azucar show Lio that he still has a lot to learn?

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and the fans rally up as the two circle. They feel things out, Lio waistlocks, but Rocky pries at the hold. The fans duel, Rocky slips around to waistlock, but Lio works on his escape. Lio slips under, headlocks, but Rocky powers up and out. Lio slides to a stop, avoids a sweep then headlocks again. Rocky powers up to throw Lio away, then he trips Lio! Cover, ONE! Lio bypasses Rocky, but Rocky turns hip toss into hip toss! Rocky runs to basement dropkick! Rocky gives some Latino Heat and the fans cheer. Lio goes to a corner, Rocky storms up, and he CHOPS!

The fans “WOO~” while Rocky follows Lio to another corner. But Lio turns things around to CHOP! “WOO~!” Lio bumps Rocky off buckles, CHOPS him again, but Rocky CHOPS back! The fans “WOO~” and Rocky gives some more Latino Heat. Rocky whips corner to corner, Lio reverses and then goes up and around. Rocky slips under the rana, whips, but Lio RANAS! Rocky bails out, Lio builds speed, but Rocky moves. Lio sighs and the fans boo.

Rocky catches his breath, and Lio holds the ropes open. Rocky asks if that’s for real, and Lio says yeah it’s for real. Rocky goes up to the apron, but he is still wary of Lio. He drops back and the fans boo. Rocky is too paranoid about Lio, but maybe because Lio would use Rocky’s Sneaky Style against him. Rocky slides in from another side of the ring, and the two step up. Rocky shoves Lio, Lio shoves back! Lio says lets go then. Rocky CHOPS, so Lio CHOPS! The fans rally up as the CHOPS keep going! Rocky blocks one, spins Lio, but Lio ducks the haymaker to ROCK and CHOP Rocky! Lio CHOPS Rocky into a corner then fires up!

The fans cheer, Lio brings Rocky up to ROCK then whip. Rocky reverses, Lio redirects, eggs Rocky on, then slides under. Lio UP KICKS, runs up, but Rocky drop toeholds him into the buckles! Rocky then brings Lio around to BACKBREAKER! The fans rally, Rocky brings Lio up again, and hits a SPIN OUT BACKBREAKER! Lio writhes, Rocky stalks him to ropes, and drags Lio up. Rocky TOSSES Lio out, goes out to fetch him, and RAMS Lio into the apron! Lio hobbles, the ring count starts, but Rocky brings Lio around to CHOP! The fans rally, Rocky puts Lio in at 7 of 20, and then covers, TWO!

Rocky stays cool while he stalks Lio. Lio pushes Rocky, kicks at a leg, but Rocky stomps Lio down. Rocky stalks Lio to a corner, the fans rally up, and Rocky brings Lio in. Snap suplex! Cover, TWO! Lio stays in this but Rocky sits him up to KNEE him in the back! And KNEE him again! Lio writhes, the fans rally, but Rocky looms over Lio. Rocky drags Lio to center, ties up the legs, and has the BOW ‘N’ ARROW! Lio endures, even as Rocky thrashes him around! Rocky then sets Lio down to pull on the rack! Rocky then shifts into a CAMEL CLUTCH! Lio endures being bent back more, but the fans rally up! Lio powers up to get his arms free!

The fans rally more as Lio rises, and he JAWBREAKERS! Rocky staggers, but he comes back to SOBAT! Rocky snapmares Lio to KICK him in the back! Cover, ONE! Rocky clamps on with a chinlock! Rocky thrashes Lio around, traps him with body scissors, and the fans duel again. Lio endures, fights up, and he fires body shots! The fans fire up as Lio ROCKS Rocky from below! Lio fires more hands, then puts Rocky in a corner to ROCK and CHOP! Lio whips corner to corner, runs up, but Rocky BOOTS him! Rocky storms up, whips, but Lio tilt-o-whirls through to DDT! The fans fire up while both men are down!

Lio grits his teeth and pounds the mat. The fans rally with Lio, and he rises up. Rocky also rises, and they go to corners. Lio runs corner to corner to LARIAT! Lio whips, Rocky reverses and LARIATS! One-ever! Two-ever! But Lio LARIATS back! Lio drags Rocky up, suplexes, FALCON ARROW! Cover, TWO! Rocky survives and Lio is beside himself, but the fans rally up! Lio refocuses, and he waits on Rocky. Rocky rises, Lio fires forearms and kicks. Lio runs, ROCKS Rocky, then eggs him on! So Rocky fires back! The fans fire up as Lio fires a flurry! Lio runs, blocks a kick, ducks the enzigiri, but not the HEEL KICK!

Lio goes to a corner, Rocky runs up, but Lio rolls him, kips up, spin and BASEMENT ENZIGIRI! Rocky staggers around, Lio runs to RUSH- NO, Rocky stops the stunner to spin, scoop, and POP-UP KNEE! Lio didn’t quite go to sleep, so Rocky serves some SLICED BREAD! Cover, TWO!! Lio survives and the fans fire up! Rocky roars, he brings Lio up, and he whips, into RUSH HOUR!! Rocky falls, Lio hurries up top! FINAL HOUR!! Cover, Lio wins!

Winner: Lio Rush, by pinfall

The Bad Child makes himself The Man of the Hour tonight as he gets one over on his former mentor! Will it finally be Lio’s time as he goes for gold in ROH and AEW?

My Thoughts:

I feel like ROH is entering a full on AEW Dark phase, just without being free on YouTube. It was two hours long again, so I suppose they do get some points for being consistent with that. But most of the matches were filler, which is why I skipped most. On the plus side, those matches were all still very competitive, and really allowed the newer, younger wrestlers to show their stuff. Especially in the case of Willie Mack VS Exodus Prime. Mack is back from a stint with JCW, Juggalo Championship Wrestling, so he also got to remind viewers what he can do.

Preston Vance also had a good promo before his match where he said he’s striking out on his own, to honor Brodie Lee and how Mr. Brodie chose him out of all the other potential Dark Order recruits. I really do hope Vance gets going again, it’s a shame that The dark Order fell by the wayside after Brodie’s passing. Anyway, very good match to start with Atlantis VS Avalon, and of course Atlantis won. Very good match of Aminata and Harley, good rebound win for Aminata after the loss to Mariah May. Good promo from Harley with Rachael where Rachael gave back that taunting from before. We definitely need that match already.

Great promo from Billie and Athena where Billie starts standing up for herself again, which keeps us on the road of Athena VS Billie rematch. Also good promo from Lexy, Velvet and Diamante. Lexy being all condescending to Velvet was great, because of Lexy being Athena’s ally. Diamante and Velvet are definitely setting up their own match, that’ll be great stuff. And great stuff with Infantry helping The Outrunners. Just as I was wondering where Dean & Bravo were, here they are, and all it’d take is Iron Savages recruiting a fourth big meaty man to team with them against Infantry & Outrunners for a great 8 Man Tag.

Very good stuff with Sammy taking on Daivari, but a little surprising he soloed The Premier Athletes, no appearances by Dustin Rhodes & The Von Erichs. Maybe there’s more interaction in the following weeks, but I still don’t see Premier Athletes taking any belts off Team Texas. At least, not without cheating super hard, and then getting the pin off one of the Von Erich boys. And good promo from Jacoby calling out Lee Johnson & EJ Nduka. Pretty sure we get a tag match of Jacoby & Comoroto VS #LeeJ, that I’m pretty sure Big Shotty & The Judge win. And great promo with Henry and Beef, Beef is hilarious. I really hope that Henry is wrong and that JD accepts Beef so they can be a trio.

Really good match from Lio and Rocky to be the main event, and a very good win for Lio here. I don’t know how long they’re going to give Atlantis with the TV Championship, but I’d love if Lio challenged him next, they could really bust out some speedy, high-flying action, and I feel like Lio is a name that’s good enough to take the title.

My Score: 8.7/10
