The Dark Order is here!
It’s a huge birthday bash for Negative One, Brodie Lee Junior! The cake is there, the candles are lit, and fans cheer on, “Happy Birthday!” John Silver says tonight is a very special night and fans cheer in agreement. Firstly, the Dark Order is going to get a new recruit in “a handsome cowboy,” Hangman Page! But second of all, it’s someone’s birthday~! Just looking t this cake is making #JohnnyHungy! But let’s all sing a Happy Birthday to Brodie Junior! A one, a two, a skiddily diddily doo! Happy Birthday to You~! But then Luther and Serpentico crash the party! They don’t care about birthdays! Luther tells “Punky Brewster,” if he wants to come out on AEW Dark and talk smack on him and how he looks stupid with the ball on his head…! Fans chant “You Look Stupid!” Well first, Luther’s face is perfectly symmetrical! And second, Negative One has all these halfwits in masks and with their jagged teeth, THEY look stupid! Chaos Project does not like kids, and does not like them! They’re going to RUIN Brodie’s birthday! The Dark Order fires back with fists! But Jack Evans and Angelico hurry out to reinforce their tag partners! Here comes Hangman! Hangman LEAPS off the stage and onto everyone! The Dark Order cheers, but is Hangman really joining up with them?

Angelico drags Silver up, bumps him off buckles, then tags Serpentico in. Serpentico throws hands on Silver, snapmares and KICKS him! Fans rally as Serpentico fish hooks Silver into a chinlock. Silver endures, the ref reprimands the hooks but Silver fights up to throw body shots. Serpentico throws haymakers back and then has Silver in a corner. Hangman rallies on Chaos Project and TH2 with forearms and BOOTS! SPINEBUSTER for Evans!
Fans fire up with Hangman as he runs at Angelico to corner clothesline! Then one for Serpentico, one for Evans, then back to Serpentico. Serpentico SUPERKICKS, but he leaps into an OVERHEAD SUPLEX! Cover, but TH2 breaks it! Now a brawl breaks out again! The Dark Order throws TH2 out, Silver whips Reynolds in at Serpentico but Serpentico tosses him out! Silver runs in, but Serpentico puts him on the apron. Colt Cabana runs in but Serpentico avoids the Flying Apple. Cabana goes up, Hangman ROLLING ELBOWS Serpentico into Cabana’s FLYING ELBOW! Cabana sees Angelico getting in, and suckers him into Hangman’s FALL AWAY SLAM!
Hangman kips up and PLANCHAS but Evans moves! Evans is on the apron, but Hangman avoids his spinning kick! Silver is on the apron now and CANNONBALLS into Evans, to then EuroUpper Angelico against railing! Silver runs at Chaos Project but they dodge, only for Reynolds to FLY in! Direct hit, and the Dark Order set things up for Hangman, SUPER MOONSAULT! Fans are thunderous as Hangman drags Serpentico up and into the ring. Hangman tags Cabana in, Cabana scoop slams Serpentico, and then the Good, the Bad and the Hungy combine in a HUGE backpack SENTON! Cover, TWO!! Serpentico survives but Cabana keeps his focus.
Tag to Reynolds, Cabana goes up and the Beaver Boys hoist Serpentico up. Luther gets in and shoves Cabana down! Serpentico shoves Reynolds into Silver, roll through, SUPERKICK and basement DDT! Evans springboards in with the 450 SPLASH! Cover but Hangman breaks it in time! Evans throws Hangman out, then slingshots after him, into a POWEBOMB onto Angelico in the crowd! Luther drags Cabana up the ramp and to the stage! Oh no, the cake is unguarded! Wait, Negative One runs over and SMACKS Luther with the kendo stick! Luther glares at him, but then Cabana FLAPJACKS Luther onto the cake!
Back in the ring, Reynolds whips Serpentico into the corner, Silver ENZIGURIS, then they unleash the Beaver Boy Blitz! Forearm, enziguri, STUNNER, and Hangman adds the BUCK SHOT to the GERMAN! Bridging and jackknife, Hangman and the Dark Order win!
Winners: Hangman Page & The Dark Order, by pinfall
Luther is furious in the frosting as the Good, the Bad, the Hungy and the BOOM BOOM take the win! And to add on, Negative One says Serpentico tried to ruin the birthday. But that’s not how it works. KENDO STICK SMACK! “My birthday was three days ago, you idiots!” And he throws papers at Chaos Project! But Silver grabs a mic to address business. Hangman is so good and amazing! But also, he’s really handsome and has nice hair. Now, it’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Will Hangman #JoinDarkOrder? Silver is even on bended knee! Hangman’s answer is…? “I can’t.”
Wait what? No, stop the confetti! He said no! He said no! The Dark Order didn’t hear that until it’s pointed out by Hangman. As fun as all this has been, he tried saying this before but he was put in a tough spot. Hangman’s done the faction thing before, and it didn’t really work out for him. He’s sorry, but he has to decline. The Dark Order doesn’t understand, and now the good mood has been deflated. Will the Dark Order figure out how to get Hangman to change his mind? Or will they have to move on from this rejection and find someone else?
Backstage interview with Chris Jericho and MJF!
Ahead of the Inner Circle Tag Team Challenge, Alex Marvez wants their thoughts. Please stop, your breath is worse than a rat orgy inside a running microwave. But MJF wants to be honest with Jericho. The last thing he wants to see is this match breaking up the Inner Circle. Isn’t Jericho a little worried about that? Jericho is NOT worried. Tonight will be something that brings the group together and stronger than ever before. It is a promise, a pact, a gentlemen’s agreement of sexy hooligans to decide which combination moves forward to go after the AEW World Tag Team Championships!
No matter what happens, they have a deal that they will move on as a unit. Santana & Ortiz VS Sammy & Hager VS Jericho & MJF! And guess who wins tonight, Marvez! Jericho? Exactly, you stupid idiot! MJF agrees with Jericho, this will make the Inner Circle stronger. They are Christopher and Maxwell, they are better than you and you know it, because they are the next AEW World Tag Team Champions! But will that be the case when this is their first outing as a tag team?
AEW returns to Tony Schiavone in the ring!
“It was one week ago in this ring that Darby Allin retained the TNT Championship in a sensational win over Brian Cage of Team Taz!” We also saw Sting show up to help Darby out against Team Taz, too! Sting wants to say something, perhaps congratulate Darby, so here is… STIIIIING~! The snow, the crow, and the icon! And now, the TNT Champion, Darby Allin! The Relentless Face of TNT makes his way out with belt in hand. He joins Schiavone and Sting in the ring and fans cheer. Schiavone hands the mic to Sting and Sting says, “First of all, I want to say that there’s something that reminds me about me in you, and I kinda like it.” Darby is a great wrestler, and Sting wants to be the first to publicly congratulate him as being our TNT Champion.
Second, Sting wants everyone to understand that he wasn’t here to interrupt last week. He just wanted to keep things fair as Darby defended his title. But from somewhere, Taz is on the mic and he’s telling Sting to shut up! Team Taz is on the titantron and Taz says “fair fight, my ass!” Sting had a baseball bat, he storms out during the TNT title match, and he attacks Ricky Starks! Darby, during that match, had his leather belt and tried to hogtie Cage’s legs like he’s some piece of cattle! They fight dirty! They fight street style! Team Taz are “gentlemen.” Taz grew up in the streets, do your homework! These men are street fighters!
Starks speaks and says if we’re talking about street fighters, here’s the thing! Sting and Darby couldn’t see them in the streets! The deal is, Team Taz should take this to the streets! If Darby and Sting want to get nasty, they want to get hardcore, then the ball’s in their court! What you got?! Darby looks to Sting and Sting says something to Darby. Darby takes the mic and says if Team Taz wants to take this to the streets, “be careful what you wish for, because it just might happen.” Will Taz and team regret trying to intimidate these two fearless fighters?
The Elite is having a meeting, but the Young Bucks aren’t part of it?
Alex Marvez tells Matt & Nick Jackson about it, which is weird because this is Kenny Omega’s place. First that eBay collector guy and now this? Well fine, Marvez, come with them to the meeting. The Bucks walks in through the backdoor and Michael Nakazawa is being the greeter? Nakazawa escorts the Bucks into the dining room then into the den. What in the world? Omega has an oil painting of himself and Don Callis as muscular men in denim jeans, and only denim jeans. Omega is one thing but Callis is nowhere NEAR that ripped. Yikes.
But Callis enters first, and says that is a gift for Omega’s birthday. But his birthday’s in October. Well it’s never too early or too late to shop for the God of Pro-Wrestling! Have they not gotten anything for him yet? What kind of friends are you? Just kidding. Oh right, just like how last week, he punked them out on national television with that bait ‘n’ switch! Callis says that it was a choice from production, he meant to tell them but he apologizes for that. Where is Omega? Well Omega is unavailable for today’s meeting. At his own house? Omega is very busy. Too busy to talk to his friends?
Well what number do they have in their phones? Callis had Omega change numbers a couple weeks ago, there are a lot of fans, marks, and “old friends” coming out of the woodwork, blowing up the phone. They didn’t get the memo? Well they don’t need it, they can always come by, he and Omega are always happy to see them. But it’s good that they’re all here so we can clear the air. These three are the ones who love Omega the most, after all. Callis is family, and the Bucks are… old friends. So let’s chat. Marvez, why are you here? Nakazawa, please escort Marvez to the dungeon. What? Not a real dungeon, just the training room Omega uses. And take the cameraman. Not the camera, though, Callis won’t let him shoot any more of Omega’s house. Off to the dungeon with them.
And now they have privacy! The Bucks are good, right? How long have they known Omega? 12 years. Wow, 12 years, a tremendous investment. They need to recognize that. But everyone’s very busy, no time to spend like they used to, so Callis has something he is sure they’ll like. Is he writing them a check? Callis says this will compensate them for their investment in the friendship. They’re just trying to keep contact with the “old crew” to a minimum. Wow, see, this would be a good amount, except the Bucks made that much just last week. Oh, right, the merch! Well here, Callis will add in some. Is this a bribe? No…!
THE AUDACITY to think you can buyout a 12 year FRIENDSHIP…! Callis wasn’t on those 14 hour bus rides in Tokyo! He wasn’t there for the missed birthdays and anniversaries! Where was “Uncle Creepy” Callis? Callis says he was always there. Sorry it’s gone this way, but if you want to talk facts, the Bucks were great friends to Omega, but now they just hold him back! Oh really?! Yes, the hanger-on from the old neighborhood types. Omega is too nice but Callis isn’t.
Y’know, speaking of where this money is coming from, the Bucks used to work at that company Callis is VP of. And so they know these checks are no good. They rip up the checks and Callis accuses them of being bloodsuckers! Oh THEY are the bloodsuckers?! Callis is manipulating Omega! They’re backing Callis up and scaring him a bit, and the camera gets shut off. What is going to happen to The Elite with Callis hanging around?
Cody Rhodes w/ Arn Anderson VS “Pretty” Peter Avalon!
Does the American Nightmare match up with the requirements for the Pageant Provocation? Perhaps, but will Avalon consider giving Cody a pass? Will Avalon’s young win streak be ended his first night back on Dynamite?
The bell rings and Avalon rushes at Cody, but into a dragon sleeper! CROSS RHODES!! Cody would cover, but JADE CARGILL walks out on stage! She is keeping her distance, but Cody isn’t so sure. Avalon runs in and LOW BLOWS Cody during the distraction! Jade likes that and decides to leave now. Avalon kicks at Cody’s legs, stalks Cody around the ring and chop blocks him down! Avalon trips Cody up, stomps him down, and then drags Cody up to throw haymakers! Avalon CHOPS Cody, then CHPOS him again! Cody gets made and CHOPS back! Cody shows haymaker but Avalon protects his face. So Cody drops for the Rhodes Uppercut!

Cody gets Avalon’s leg but Avalon clubs him. Avalon suplexes and covers, ONE! Avalon stomps Cody then clubs him more. Cody shoves Avalon and double clotheslines collide!

Avalon looms over Cody, drags him up, and scoops him for a slam! Avalon rains down rights, then scrapes his soles off Cody’s face! Avalon sits Cody up to KICK him, then drops more knees! AEW returns to single picture as Avalon climbs. Avalon MOONSAULTS but FLOPS as Cody moves! Fans fire up and Cody throws forearms. Avalon headlocks, Cody powers out and tries to hurdle but his leg can’t get him up! Cody and Avalon collide, then Avalon throws Cody out hard! Avalon runs and DIVES, and Cody ends up in the crowd!
Avalon drags Cody back into the ring, drags him up by his weight belt, and blows a kiss. Avalon runs, into a CUTTER! Cody fires up and fans fire up with him as he whips Avalon, then follows to rally with forearms and lariats! Cody whips, Avalon reverses but Cody goes up and over to SPINNING POWERSLAM! Cody slaps himself to get back in this, and off comes the weight belt! Free souvenir! Avalon staggers, Cody trips him up and steps through, FIGURE FOUR! Avalon endures, turns things over and puts the pressure onto Cody! Cody turns it back over and Avalon feels the pain, but then Avalon SLAPS Cody! That was a mistake and Cody shows slap, but Avalon taps out just to avoid it!
Winner: Cody Rhodes, by submission
Cody holds on to make Avalon pay for it, but lets him go soon enough. Cargill’s presence almost cost Cody, but the Prince of Pro-Wrestling managed to fight through the pain. Will Cody have to be more careful from now on?
FTR speaks.
Tully Blanchard knows the rankings just came out. They are NUMBER ONE and that is where they need to be. But now, they need the belts. Those are the bragging rights! But then in barges Jurassic Express! Jungle Boy says he’s sick of this. If FTR is the best- Cash Wheeler says they ARE the best. JB gets heated, but he says the FTR might be the best. Being in there taught JB something about himself. It showed him that he could beat either one of them. FTR laughs at that and Dax Harwood says he shouldn’t be fooled by the “salt ‘n’ pepper.” Dax isn’t some fly-by-night wrassler JB plays with in the ring. Dax will fight him next week, 1v1. He doesn’t need Cash and Tully to win, either.
Oh is that so? Let Dax finish. Then let them all be ringside, but Luchasaurus will make sure no one gets involved. JB and Dax shake on it, but will this really be a gentlemen’s agreement with Tully lurking?
Jon Moxley VS ???
The Maniac is back in action tonight, determined to fight his way back to the AEW World Championship and his revenge on Kenny Omega! Will Moxley show that there’s no stopping him, only delaying the inevitable?
AEW returns and Moxley’s opponent turns out to be the Freak Beast Wrecking Ball, Nick Comoroto! A big opponent for his first match back, but Moxley doesn’t back down from a fight! The bell rings, Comoroto shoves but Moxley headbutts him! Moxley fires off forearms and stomps Comoroto in the corner! Then CHOPS him, and CHOPS him again! And again! Moxley whips corner to corner, Comoroto reverses but Moxley dodges in the corner to clothesline! Moxley keeps moving, but leaps into Comoroto’s arms and a POWERSLAM! Comoroto drags Moxley up to elbow him to a corner, then stomps him in return! Comoroto digs his knee in but lets up at 4.
Comoroto whips Moxley corner to corner, then hits a big back elbow! Comoroto scoops Moxley for a BACKBREAKER! Moxley sits up but Comoroto drags him up for another BACKBREAKER, and makes it a bend across his knee! Moxley endures, pries the fingers and bends them back! Comoroto lets go to clutch his hand, and Moxley BITES Comoroto’s forehead! Comoroto knees low, scoops Moxley but Moxley slips out to throw forearms! Comoroto throws them back but Moxley knees then runs, but into an USHIGOROSHI! Cover, TWO! Fans fire up as Moxley goes to a corner. Comoroto runs corner to corner, but only gets buckles!
Moxley and Comoroto are both down but fans rally up! Moxley is up first, and KICKS away on Comoroto’s chest! Again and again, then he reels Comoroto in for a suplex. Comoroto is too big, he shoves Moxley away but Moxley gets around to waistlock, shove and GERMAN SUPLEX! Fans fire up as Moxley runs, but Comoroto withstands the lariat! Comoroto fireman’s carries but Moxley slips around to SLEEPER HOLD! Comoroto falls, he is OUT! Moxley wins!
Winner: Jon Moxley, by pinfall
The big man gave Moxley a big fight, but Moxley wouldn’t have it any other way! Moxley gets the mic and points to the fans before saying, “Now, anything can happen on Wednesdays on AEW Dynamite. And things are getting crazy~ around here, I can’t keep track of everything.” Moxley can’t tell who is in Bullet Club, The Elite, who’s from Impact or whatever, but that doesn’t matter. Omega thought he would bring his frat brothers to AEW and they’d watch his back. “Kenny, all’s you did was make it more fun. All you did was make it more interesting. More bodies, bigger brawls, more blood, more violence. More necks to break, more limbs to snap, I love this!”
The bigger the mountain, the sweeter it is at the top! Moxley will climb back up because you can bring the whole city of Nashville to Jacksonville, you can bring up whoever from Mexico or Japan, it remains the same. “All roads in professional wrestling lead through ME!!” Has Moxley just declared war not only on The Cleaner, but all the promotions willing to play ball with AEW?
Backstage interview with Eddie Kingston and The Fam.
For the first time ever, next week on Dynamite, Kingston will face Lance Archer 1v1 in the ring. How does he prepare for someone like Archer, or anyone he’s never faced before? Kingston doesn’t prepare, he just fights. And Kingston has been having a really hard time lately. PAC beat Kingston but Kingston is moving on to Archer. Kingston has to move on. But then Archer comes in, and Jake the Snake barely keeps him back! Archer says Pac beat Kingston, but Archer will end him! Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, a very simple concept. Kingston says he can go on with his poetry, but Archer says all Kingston ever does is shout. If Kingston wants to shut Archer up, do it in the ring! Kingston says it’s 1v1! Then he tells Jake to keep his boy under control.
Jake says Kingston’s one to talk, with his little baby chicken shit family. If Kingston wants to do something, do it face to face without his little butt kissers ringside! Deal! A true 1v1 match is coming, will the Mad King be able to stand after facing the Murderhawk Monster?
AEW returns as Kenny Omega arrives.
Alex Marvez is there waiting and asks Omega about his thoughts on what we saw at the beach. Omega wasn’t at the beach, so no comment. Well, AEW Media was with The Young Bucks and Don Callis at Omega’s house. They were at his house? Is nothing sacred? Get out of his way! Omega finds Callis in the locker room and shows off his new outfit. Whoa, what happened to Callis? Oh, the glasses? No, what’s under the glasses. Callis says Omega shouldn’t get upset, Callis had a “little accident” earlier. It’s not as bad as it looks. Who did that? No, it’s not about- Ow, don’t touch. Callis says this is not what he wants for Omega, Omega can’t lose focus right now.
Omega keeps asking but Callis says it’s fine. Nick & Matt- Uh oh. Omega can’t believe the Bucks did this. Marvez asks if Callis is saying the Bucks did that to him. What is he doing in here? Go away! Is there no privacy here? Omega still wants answers on what happened! We know that the camera went off, but did the Bucks really assault Callis?
Six Man Tag: Matt Sydal & Top Flight VS #HardyParty!
One of the best high flyers ever teams up with the coldest tag team in the game for an incredible combination! But manager “Big Money” Matt teams with his guys in Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy! Will Hardy and Private Party make their partnership worth their one-sided deal?
The trios sort out and Dante Martin starts against Quen. They circle, and Dante offers a handshake. Hardy doesn’t want Quen to take it but Quen says it’s fine, and they shake hands. Quen and Dante circle, tie up, and Quen arm-drags Dante but Dante arm-drags back. Quen blocks the hip toss to knee low and cartwheel, but Dante slips free to run and roll off the back, then dropkick Quen down! Darius gets in as Kassidy does and dropkicks him down! Hardy rushes in but into DOUBLE DROPKICKS! Fans fire up with Top Flight as Dante tags Sydal in. They focus on Quen with double CHOPS, and then a whip. Sydal and Top Flight pull off a TRIPLE HURDLE, then a pass to a WINDMILL KICK!
Dante gets a boost from Darius, they rebound off ropes and Dante flips Darius onto Sydal! Darius flips back but he’s not legal, Sydal has to cover. So Sydal adds a STANDING MARIPOSA! Cover, TWO! Quen hurries away and Hardy tells him to get serious here. Quen takes off his jacket and throws it at Sydal! Quen then fires off on Sydal, and tags in Kassidy. Kassidy sucker punches Top Flight then mugs Sydal with Quen! Private Party double forearm, kick and run, but Top Flight gets in and slides with Sydal to TRIPLE ROLLING TAKEDOWN, into a TRIPLE CRAB! Quen clubs away on Sydal, then stomps him down! Quen brings Sydal up, bumps him off buckles, then tags in Kassidy. Private Party mugs Sydal as AEW goes picture in picture.
Hardy sneaks in a shot before Kassidy CHOPS Sydal, but Sydal CHOPS back Kassidy kicks low, pushes Sydal down and stomps him in the corner! Tag to Hardy, Kassidy digs his boots in, then Hardy does the same. The ref counts, Hardy lets off at 4, then RAMS into Sydal! And again! And again! Hardy brings Sydal up, scoops him, and LAWN DARTS him on the buckles! Cover, TWO! Hardy keeps on Sydal and ROCKS him with a right! Hardy whips, and catches Sydal to a sleeper! Sydal flails, reaches, but Hardy keeps him from the corner. Sydal fights up with body shots and breaks free with a jawbreaker! Hardy still grabs Sydal to drag him back to the corner.
Tag to Quen, Hardy Party mugs Sydal, and Quen bumps Sydal off buckles. Quen stomps Sydal then drags him up in a facelock. Sydal fights his way towards his corner but Quen pushes him back the other way. Tag to Kassidy and Private Party mugs Sydal more. Kassidy drags Sydal up and rams elbows into him! Tag to Quen, Kassidy CHOPS Sydal, then is the step stool for Quen to launch into a splash! Quen is the step now, Kassidy runs in, PARTY in Motion! Hardy tags in and clotheslines Sydal down! Cover, Hardy Party wins!
Winners: Hardy Party, by pinfall
Quen and Kassidy are buying into Big Money Matt’s “by any means necessary” policy! After all, they are #1 contenders to the Impact World Tag Team Championships. Darius and Sydal get in their face about it, though, and Hardy gives the nod. Private Party beats down Darius and Sydal! They hammer away on Sydal and drive knees into Darius, and then feed Darius to a TWIST OF FATE! Sydal gets a TWIST OF FATE, too! Will this new edge be what makes Private Party into champions?
MJF and Wardlow check with The Inner Circle.
MJF tells the cameraman to keep his distance before he and Wardlow walk in. “Oh, the bearer of bad news~!” Ortiz takes a guess: MJF wants the rest of them to be ringside when he and Jericho go after the tag titles, right? No, no, but MJF does get the hostility. Take it from him, if it were up to him, he isn’t so sure this match would be happening. Surely they all feel the same way. But, Chris is the leader, and as such, what he says goes. Sammy Guevara says if he had things his way, a lot of this wouldn’t be happening.
Hager and the others keep Sammy back but MJF says they’ve been doing this for months. MJF loves Hager, Santana and Ortiz, and even Sammy. They’re family, and they have to be family in order to succeed. Now, MJF respects Sammy because Sammy isn’t afraid to speak his mind. But can Sammy just understand that MJF isn’t some sociopath. MJF wants what’s best for the group, and so do they. So let’s all just go out there, have this match, and settle it. Everyone else fist bumps with MJF, but not Sammy. They’re not there yet. That’s fine. MJF says he’ll see them all out there, but is Sammy onto something?
Leyla Hirsch VS Penelope Ford w/ Kip Sabian, Miro & “Charles” Taylor!
#LEGIT is back in action, and up against the Superbad Bride-to-be! Freshly Squeezed, Orange Cassidy, can only watch from the crowd as his best friend is forced to be the BUTLER to the Best Man and the Superbad super couple. The suffering of “Charles” aside, will Ford at least be in a good mood with a win?
The bell rings, Ford and Hirsch circle, tie up, and go around. They break, and Hirsch smirks as she and Ford circle again. They tie up, Hirsch gets a waistlock but Ford switches. Miro tells “Charles” to get in the ring so we can all get an update. Miro tells “Charles” that he could be mean, but he’s not because he’s a nice guy. But Miro needs Charles to let go of the past so he can reach a bright future. Stand up straight. So Charles needs to look at Cassidy and tell him that MIRO is his best friend now! Chuck doesn’t want to but Miro tells him he has to. Cassidy stands up and Chuck takes the mic. Or will the issues with Kenny Omega allow Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, Alex Reynolds and John Silver to cash in big on both the AEW AND Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions?
Plus, some news for AEW Beach Break!
With AEW Revolution only a month away, there will be a Tag Team Battle Royal to name the Young Bucks’ challengers! Which duo will be the last ones standing to take on Matt & Nick Jackson? In this style of Triple Threat Tag, only two teams are active but anyone can tag off one of the opponents. They sort out and MJF starts with Sammy. Say it ain’t so! MJF said this would be all in good sportsmanship but that was the exact opposite! And AEW has to wrap up for the night, what will be the fallout of this frantic finish!?
My Thoughts:
What a great episode! We got a great start with the birthday celebration for Brodie Jr. and the 8 Man Tag. Hangman’s rejection being a surprise to the Dark Order was great, with the prepared celebration now being for nothing. This will be an interesting twist to their story, especially with that huge 8 Man announced for next week. Also, Negative One Brodie got to have some more fun, getting on the case of the Dark Order henchmen and smacking Serpentico with a kendo stick. We got a lot of good set up for next week, the go-home to Beach Break. Dax VS JB with everyone ringside and Kingston VS Archer with no one ringside will both be good steps in progressing story, and both could probably go either way.
Cody VS Avalon going from squash to an actually strong match was a great twist, and all while plugging the story of Jade and Shaq VS the Nightmare Family. I have a feeling that Cody’s response to Shaq will set up something for AEW Revolution as Beach Break is too soon and anything else would be just too long to wait for. Sting and Darby didn’t get much of a segment since Team Taz interrupts, but I like the idea that Sting’s first bit of action back will likely be a Street Fight/No Holds Barred situation, which perhaps helps with the fact that he hasn’t wrestled in years and being loose and freeform with it will actually hide that he’s rusty.
Hardy Party VS Top Flight & Sydal was a really good match, with a lot of great character work from Quen and Kassidy. They did become Impact Tag Team Championship contenders on the newest episode of Impact, but now they’re turning from the fun loving Faces into the dastardly Heels Hardy wants them to be. This could get them over the hump here in AEW, but who knows how it’ll turn out on Impact. They won’t win the titles, though, Gallows & Anderson are just too good, and there’s a lot for them to still do in the overall Omega story, where being the tag champions might help give a bit more weight to what happens.
Moxley VS Comoroto was very good, especially for Comoroto’s first showing on Dynamite. The story with Omega and the rest of Bullet Club/Elite was great stuff, especially Callis’ part with the Bucks. It really seems to work with how, between AEW and Impact, this new Cleaner Omega is getting a big ego and is basically going Hollywood without going to Hollywood. The 8 Man Tag next week is going to be really good just on character points as the Bucks and Good Brothers have been friends just as long, if not longer, than with Omega, but are taking sides on this issue. Then the beat down on who I’m pretty sure was fake Penta works to get Moxley into the story, and the Beach Break main event is going to be great stuff.
Ford VS Hirsch was good but mostly used as the vehicle to Miro’s story with Chuck Taylor and Best Friends. Chuck was being forced to cheat on their behalf, and obviously didn’t mean what he said about him and Miro being friends. This just furthers the idea that Trent will return at Beach Break where he and Cassidy ruin the Superbad wedding and then Chuck is free of the butler duties so he can get revenge on Miro, too. I really like the news of the AEW Women’s Championship Eliminator Tournament to not just parallel the men’s tournament from late 2020, but also to finally get AEW’s Women’s Division going. Plus, it strengthens the bond with Stardom as many of the women who went between the two promotions are already reacting on social media and will surely be part of the tournament.
Then the main event, the Triple Threat Tag, for not actually being that long of a match, was a spectacular match. The build up all night was really good, and MJF sure did make it seem like Jericho was to blame for the whole thing. Probably hints at MJF trying to usurp the role as leader in the Inner Circle from him. Commentary did a great job pointing out that MJF was letting everyone else wrestle for the first part of the match, and then he ended up not having much of a choice in the second half. It really did feel like any one of the teams could’ve taken this, but in the end it was still Y2MJF winning because of MJF’s craftiness. I’m wondering if participate in Beach Break’s tag team battle royal since MJF has history of winning the Dynamite Diamond Ring battle royals.
My Score: 9.4/10

The Conglomeration speaks.
Roderick Strong shouts, “ORANGE!” Cassidy says, “What?” Roddy says thanks for the new shirt with himself on it, it’s great. Kyle O’Reilly says he loves this teamwork, this camaraderie, and hey, they’re in Portland for Playoff Palooza! Conglomeration, Collision, this is a good night to defend the trios titles for the first time ever! But then FTR steps in, and #BigStoke says Cash & Dax have something that’s actually important to say to Cope & Cage. Second, everyone backstage knows The Conglomeration is about to lose to the Don Callis Family, FTR’s close personal friends. See you later, losers.
FTR make their entrance, and the Veterans Memorial Coliseum isn’t exactly happy about it. Stokely leads the way into the ring and they get the mics. Cash starts off by saying, “Big Cope, we saw the challenge you laid out, very interesting. Very interesting indeed. So I know you probably think you’re gonna pull one over on us, that you’re gonna trick us into accepting this, but all you really had to do was bring something, anything to the table to entice us. And I gotta say, you saying that if you lose again to FTR, that you will no longer team? That sounds pretty enticing to me. So I’m not gonna drag this out. Challenge accepted!”
The fans cheer that, and Dax says of course Cope would say he deserves the rematch. But why? Because of some success they had 25 YEARS ago? Dax will lay a little cold, hard truth on Cope & Christian. Nobody wants them here! The fans boo that, but Dax says FTR doesn’t want them here! The locker room doesn’t want them here! As dumb as these fans are, they’re smart enough to know that they don’t want C&C here! No one associated with AEW wants C&C here! And now, give Dax a moment. Cope didn’t have to play his little mind games like challenging their man hoods. All they had to do was put their careers on the line.
The fans boo more, but Dax says the New York Street Fight sounds great to them, but let’s do it one better! If they’re gonna have this match with all this riding on the line… Dax wants there to be no more questions! No more debate! New York Street Fight, I QUIT STYLE! Dax wants C&C’s wives, daughters, dogs, and God Almighty to hear the one thing that is embarrassing to every man: Five letters, two words, “I QUIT!” And then after that, C&C, you can go on about your way, this here is done. Continue on with your nostalgia run while FTR goes on as the greatest tag team to EVER do this! Now the ball is in your court, Cope. #TopGuysOut.
The fans boo, but FTR saw the tag careers and raised them their dignity! Will Cope & Cage call that bet as we all go Double or Nothing? But as FTR takes their exit, The Conglomeration makes their entrance! FTR gets in their face, so The Conglomeration SHOVES them down! Will Cassidy, Roddy & Kyle show FTR what a real team looks like? Or will the Don Callis Family add more gold to the treasury?

AEW shares footage from after Dynamite.
The Death Riders are still carrying a semi-conscious Ospreay, as we saw them do after the medical/referee stoppage against Mark Davis. They place Ospreay in a chair, and Moxley takes a seat across from him. Yuta splashes water on Ospreay to wake him up, and Marina puts a towel around him. She wraps it around, gives it some strong tugs, and then a neck massage? Moxley says she’s good, huh? Then he asks Ospreay, “What is it you’re trying to accomplish?” Breaking Moxley’s neck? Breaking his own neck? When Ospreay goes to the ring, when he gets up in the morning, where is Ospreay trying to go? Who is Ospreay trying to be? What is it Ospreay is chasing?
Moxley doesn’t think Ospreay even knows the answers to those questions anymore. It was almost seven years ago that Moxley saw Ospreay for the first time. The power Ospreay wields and the ability Ospreay has… Mind, flesh, blood, muscle, bone. It will all break eventually. You try to run through a brick wall as much as you want, the wall doesn’t go anywhere. But if you step back and realize there is a door, you can walk right through it and become whoever you want on the other side. This, the mind, can be trained, honed properly, so that it will not break. You take dominion over your mind, and you can become a weapon like pro-wrestling has never seen.
But this thing between them has to come to a head one way or another. So they can settle up. Moxley puts a steel chair between them. Ospreay can be just like everyone else. Or, he can become everything he was meant to be. Moxley kisses the ground as he lies down, and he says it is Ospreay’s choice. Ospreay picks up the chair, looks it over, and looks as the Death Riders step back. Ospreay has the cameraman leave, but why? Does Ospreay go through with the easy route of taking Moxley out? Or does he accept The Maniac’s offer and see how far down the rabbit hole he can go?
10 Man Tag: The Young Bucks & The Rascalz VS Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, David Finlay & Clark Connors!
Well, Moxley and Marina are here, so Ospreay didn’t crush Moxley with the chair. The Maniac joins commentary as his solders, as well as their associates in The Dogs, are about to wage war with two teams that stand in their way of glory. But will the Death Riders & Dogs run roughshod through Matt, Nick, Dez, Zach & Myron? Or are we about to have the most lit Superkick Party ever?
The teams sort out and Dez starts against Yuta. The fans rally as the two circle, talk some trash, but then The Dogs attack! The fans boo but they and the Death Riders all beat up on Bucks & Rascalz! Garcia goes after Nick while Finlay TOSSES Matt. Claudio traps Dez, Yuta sends Finlay in for an UPPERCUT! Yuta ELBOWS, Garcia LARIATS, Connors RAMS, and Claudio UPPERCUTS! The Cycle of Violence is five strong, but Nick goes up to CROSSOBDY! But Yuta & Claudio catch him, and then pop him up for the BACKBREAKER! Now the Cycle o Violence starts up on Nick! UPPERCUT, UPPERCUT, RAM, ELBOW, and LARIAT misses!
Matt drags Claudio out, Zach has Finlay, and Myron has Connors. The Rascalz RAM The Dogs into the barriers, but Claudio SHOVES Matt! But then Matt dodges to send Claudio into barriers! Now the Cycle of Violence is turned around on Garcia as Dez UPPERCUTS, Zach DROPKICKS, and Zach pops Myron up so he can go out and in, CODE BREAKER! Zach goes up to DOUBLE STOMP! Moxley admits, he likes The Rascalz, they’re creative. Myron & Zach fire off kicks on Claudio, then The Bucks DOUBLE SUPERKICK! Then Dez gets a boost for a DOUBLE STOMP! The fans rally up as The Bucks then WERCK Claudio with a dropkick!
Matt skins the cat, Nick FLIES, and down go The Death Riders! The fans cheer The Bucks & Rascalz as they keep after the Dogs & Death Riders. Zach puts Claudio in, springboards, but Claudio blocks the Code Breaker! Claudio steps through, SHARPSHOOTER! Myron sunset flips but Garcia turns that around for a DRAGON TAMER! The Dogs intercept The Bucks, TOSS them out, but The Bucks RAM and slingshot to sunset flip! Now The Bucks have The Dogs in SHARPSHOOTERS! The fans cheer these dueling submissions! Speaking of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Lexy is now with Megan Bayne & Lena Kross and brings up the challenge thrown out by Shidalander. What is their response? Lena asks, “Why? The fans are thunderous, but Kaun storms in! The ref stops Kaun, and that lets Liona drag Ricochet to safety!
Lashley CLOBBERS Liona and THROWS him into railing! Shelton does the same to Kaun! But Ricochet LOW BLOWS Jericho!! The fans boo but Ricochet pushes Jericho down, and hits the “RICOSAULT!” Cover, Demand wins!!
Winners: The Demand, by pinfall
MVP is as upset as anyone, The Demand used misdirection to steal another victory! But is Ricochet right? Is Jericho just the guy who gets beat up by The Demand every week he shows up? Or can Jericho turn things around before it gets any worse?
My Thoughts:
A very good episode for Collision, and I almost thought Playoff Palooza was gonna be delayed because of, well, playoffs. But anyway, great opening promo, much better than their usual “cold opens.” It certainly teased something for FTR VS Conglomeration, but there’s still FTR VS C&C to settle. And it fits the nature of “Double or Nothing” to raise the stakes on the title match. The Street Fight nature was already No Disqualification, and an I Quit match was already No Disqualification, so putting them together is both logical and not. But I suppose having New York themed items handy to beat each other with until someone verbally gives up is still a great combination. I would think C&C wins, though, so that they don’t have to break up.
As for Conglomeration VS Don Callis Family on the Don Callis Family’s fourth trios title match, great stuff, though maybe a little clunky at parts. Great win for Conglomeration, but who knows who they get for Double or Nothing. Great promo from Moxley and Ospreay, and Ospreay not crushing Moxley was clearly the right move for building some intrigue. Ospreay might not join Moxley & The Death Riders, but being trained by them would make for some good story. Feels like AEW is taking inspiration from DC Comics given their partnership, this is very much Slade Wilson training Dick Grayson to go from Robin into Nightwing.
Great little promo of Harley & Mina confronting Shida with Kris in the room. Shida is doing great playing this passive aggressive Face, especially with how enthusiastic she is for Kris. Great showing for B3CCA against Kris, but Kris was of course still winning. We’re definitely getting a tag match of #Shidalander VS Mina & Harley, and that can be when Shida turns on Kris. Rush VS Adam Priest was way better than it needed to be, but that’s good for Priest. Though, now it makes me wonder what Rush is even doing. What is LFI as a whole even doing? That group has felt either neglected or just cursed ever since they started in AEW, Tony Khan needs someone to help book this stuff.
Great tag match from Windsor & Persephone VS Thekla & Skye, but duh, of course Julia Hart would affect that ending. I’m still thinking we see a Triple Threat of the three women’s championships, but maybe we see Skye or Julia go after Perse’s title just so Perse can successfully defend the CMLL Women’s title on an AEW PPV. I’d rather have the Triple Threat to really make things interesting. Great National title match and another great showing for CLØN, but I figured Jack Perry would win. Between his reign just starting and Clon kinda being on standby until Hologram returns, this was an obvious outcome.
Good promos from Takeshita and Okada to call each other out, but they’re already pretty high in heat. The only thing that could add more is a brawl. Very good promo from The Opps for them to accept Bowens, but like, shouldn’t this have been aired during Dynamite? Joe was still in his gear! And very good main event Six Man Tag, though there was that moment when Lashley stumbled that was worrying, almost thought he hurt his leg. In the end, Demand of course wins by bending the rules like always. To me, this story is already the flipside of the usual “Jericho Vortex.” When Jericho was a Heel, he was always getting the better of his Face rival, and the Face would ultimately win in the end. With Jericho as a Face, he really is going to be losing again and again until we reach the blowoff/
My Score: 8.8/10

MJF is here!
Portland cheers but Maxwell Jacob Friedman is in no mood! He immediately shouts for them to cut his music as he storms his way into the ring. The fans boo but MJF says, “You wanna boo me? No, no, no, see I’m not like your paper champion, Darby Allin. When I come out here, you show me the respect I’ve earned!” The fans continue to boo but MJF says last week will be forever be known as the Seattle Screw Job! Three days prior to his match with Darby Allin for MJF’s AEW World Championship, MJF wrestled in an all-out war with Kenny Omega and came out victorious. MJF did not come out without being banged up, bruised, and battered.
Three days later, he is informed he is wrestling Darby that day, and then gets hit in the nuts! That SKANK, Aubrey Edwards, does a fast count! MJF’s shoulders were up! So no, Darby ain’t the world champion, Darby is a dirty little cheater! The fans boo the hypocrisy but he asks if they actually believe Darby can beat MJF at 100%. “YES!” Do this disrespectful little s*its actually believe Darby can beat MJF when he’s prepared? “YES!” Then they must have short term memory loss, so here’s a history lesson: MJF is the most complete pro-wrestler in the history of this sport! MJF is the man who has beaten every top name pro-wrestling has to offer!
MJF is the man who made sure Hangman Adam Page can never be AEW World Champion ever again! And MJF is the man who kicked out of the One Winged Angel like it was nothing! The fans boo but MJF says he is the BEST professional wrestler in the world! Darby Allin, MJF doesn’t give a damn about the main event with the Psycho Killer! If Darby has an ounce of dignity in that fragile body, he will give MJF that title back, RIGHT NOW! The fans boo, and instead of Darby, MJF gets Kevin Knight! The fans cheer The Jet as he walks down the ramp and into the ring. Knight gets a mic to tell MJF, “Different city, same old Max coming out here and whining like a little b*tch.”
The fans chant that at MJF, and Knight says Portland is tired of MJF talking. The Jet just landed, the air’s gonna switch up as it’s about to get real. It’s getting real, because The Jet is 2 Fly. Before MJF gets to hating, he has to be honest: Doesn’t The Jet look clean with the TNT title around his waist? The fans cheer that! Knight says when you’re a real champion, a fighting champion, you’re willing to put the title on the line at any time. Now, MJF, don’t you remember when Knight had you pinned for what seemed like an eternity? If anyone got cheated and screwed, it’s Knight, cuz he should be Jet2Belts right now!
The fans cheer again, but MJF raises an eyebrow. MJF says okay, so, first of all, what an elegant speaker Knight is. Almost Aristotle! Let’s go over the points: Knight is The Jet, The Jet is 2 Fly, The Jet is TNT Champion, The Jet had almost beat MJF, The Jet thinks it is socially acceptable to be friends with Speedball Mike Bailey, and The Jet should be AEW World Champion. Did we get all that right? Okay, cool. Well, obviously, Knight’s memory isn’t that great, but MJF’s memory is, because he’s always the smartest person in the room… MJF beat Knight with a Heatseeker for an easy W. So no, Knight, you should not be world champion.
If anyone should be world champion, it is MJF and MJF alone! But MJF gives Knight credit, nice hardware. Give it up for the TNT Champion! The fans cheer, and MJF says what a cute little title that is, huh? It fits Knight like a glove, because he is a TNT Champion type: a workhorse, good hand, average Joe. Y’know, someone with a ceiling. Someone who will never be AEW World Champion. Someone who should know better than to step into MJF’s ring and breathe MJF’s air. Someone who damn sure should know better than to allow MJF’s AEW World Championship to come out of their average little mouth.
The two stare down but Knight says keep running your mouth, and Jet will slap that big nose off your face and send you packing! MJF is doing a lot of fibbing, talking about Jet not being AEW World Championship material. Anyone can look at Jet and see he is a gold mine! The fans cheer that! Knight says MJF wants to talk about the lineage of this workhorse title, well, some of the best wrestlers have held this title. So no coincidence that someone like MJF has not held it before. The fans like that zinger! Someone like MJF has always had everything handed to him, so let’s keep the train going. Let’s keep it going as The Jet hands MJF an ass whooping! The fans cheer that!
MJF says okay, okay, no, no, shut up! Let’s get this straight, Kevin: You wanna wrestle MJF? What does MJF get out of that? He’s already proven he’s better than Knight. Though, Knight did talk about the TNT title, and MJF’s kinda sold on the belt. Matter of fact, what really makes MJF want it is he can tell how proud Knight is of that title. In fact, MJF would love to turn that pride into depression. So here’s the thing, Jet. You wanna wrestle MJF? Put that TNT title on the line and you’ve got yourself a match! The fans like the sound of that! Knight says hell yeah! Let’s do it! Cuz The Jet is always ready, and being in Rip City tonight, Knight will rip MJF a new one here and now!
The fans fire up and MJF shouts for a ref! Portland is getting hot as Knight and MJF are ready to open the show with a fight! But will MJF make himself the Scumbag Face of TNT? Or will The Jet be #2Fly2StopNow?
AEW TNT Championship: Kevin Knight VS MJF!
But then MJF bails out with a smile on his face. “You’re gonna dance with The Devil next week, kid!” The fans boo, seems there won’t be a match after all. Will Knight make MJF regret postponing his ass kicking?
Backstage interview with The Demand.
Renee Paquette is with Ricochet, Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun and welcomes them for being here, along with… Chris Jericho! Ricochet rolls his eyes as Y2J surprises them with his presence. It was announced for this week’s Collision, a Six Man Tag match of The Demand VS Jericho and partners of his choosing, but has he found said partners? Ricochet laughs, because what are we talking about? Of course Jericho does not know who his partners are gonna be? Liona points out Jericho’s burned every bridge, and Ricochet adds that no one is gonna team with Jericho now that his new gimmick is getting his ass beat The Demand every week he shows up.
Jericho says Ricochet is about to receive a Cease & Desist. What? Why? Jericho’s new moniker, way too long, he got it copywritten. W-What? Ricochet is the one who says it. Yes, it is a great idea, bald, but Jericho can easily set Ricochet and everyone up with a brand new shirt, available on AEW Shop! Yes, it says “Jericho: The Guy Who Gets His Ass Beat by The Demand Every Week That He Shows Up.” Ricochet is upset already. Mock him all you want, Jericho, but on Collision, Ricochet & GOA will steal Jericho’s dignity. There is no one in the locker room that wants to team with Jericho! And even if there were, the result would still be the same: Demand UP!
So this ends the same way as it did at Dynasty: Ricochet pinning Jericho via the “Ricosault.” Jericho says what Ricochet is forgetting is that Jericho doesn’t need to find guys who like him. He just has to find guys who hates Ricochet, bald prick. Jericho storms off, Ricochet asks about that last part, but Liona says it’s okay, let Jericho try to find anyone, it won’t matter. But will the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla have plenty of choices when it comes to those who want to beat down The Demand?
Brody King VS Lio Rush!
Well, now tonight’s action kicks off as The King of Death crosses paths with The Problem Child. Lio’s new persona even gave Pac the creeps, but will it have the same effect on Brody? Or will this be Lio’s Final Hour?
The bell rings and Lio is talking to himself, just like before, but then Brody YANKS Lio from the corner! The fans rally for Brody but Lio looks up at Brody, his expression going back and forth between a confused grown and a wild grin. Lio circles Brody while the fans bark, but even Brody seems unsure what to think of Lio as Lio offers the handshake. Brody accepts, but he isn’t letting go! The fans cheer as Lio struggles, but then Lio BITES Brody’s hand! Brody lets go, Lio runs, redirects, dodges, and repeat! Lio CROSSBODIES, but into Brody’s arms! Brody SLAMS Lio and Lio scrambles to the corner! The fans bark while Brody stares Lio down.
Brody runs up, Lio dodges, but Brody denies the stunner. Brody shoves Lio to another corner, then runs in for a SPLASH! And LARIAT! Brody snapmares but Lio bails out. Brody pursues, Lio CHOPS, but Brody just frowns. Brody CHOPS and Lio is stinging already! Brody CHOPS Lio and Lio flops against railing! Brody brings as chair around, makes Lio take a seat, and then barks as he gets space. The fans join in, and Brody runs up, but Lio dodges! The splash hits railing! Lio goes up onto the desk, creeps Nigel out a bit, then CROSSBODIES, but Brody catches him again! Brody pops Lio around but Lio slips free to POST Brody!
Lio RAMS Brody into the railing and the fans fire up! Brody slumps down while Dynamite goes picture in picture.
The ref checks Brody, and though he clutches an arm, he is okay to continue. So Lio clamps on and CLAWS Brody’s eyes! The ref reprimands but Lio stops at 4. Brody goes to railing while Lio goes to the ring, and Lio is already doing his own ring count. The ref says hold on, and starts the official count. Lio paces as he waits on Brody, then DROPKICKS Brody off the apron! Lio builds speed, DIVES, but Brody catches him again! APRON CHOKE SLAM! Lio slumps down now while Brody shakes out the bad arm. Brody drags Lio up, CHOPS him, then stalks him around the way. Brody CHOPS Lio, keeps him from escaping into the crowd, then CHOPS again!
Lio staggers around the way but Brody pursues. Brody brings Lio up to whip, but Lio stops short of hitting railing. Brody runs up, but Lio dodges, sending him into the railing! Lio then whips Brody, but Brody reverses, and Lio hits railing after all! Brody storms up on Lio, drags him up, and puts him in the ring. Brody shakes out the bad arm while Lio goes to a corner. Brody runs corner to corner but Lio dodges again! Brody hits buckles, Lio BITES a leg! The ref reprimands but Lio stops, so he can SPIN KICK! Brody is down but so is Lio! Lio still has a wild smile on his face as he sits back up. Dynamite returns to single picture as Lio fires forearms!
Brody grabs Lio by both hands, whips him, but Lio rebounds into RUSH- NO! No Rush Hour stunner, Brody back suplexes! The fans fire up as Brody keeps moving, and he LARIATS Lio inside-out! Both men are down again as Brody still works on the bad arm. The fans rally as Brody storms after Lio, but Lio bails out to the apron. Brody drags Lio up, but Lio HOTSHOTS the bad arm! Lio brings Brody in, HOTSHOT STUNNER! Brody sputters and flops to the apron while Lio says something is getting stronger. Lio fireman’s carries?! Brody CLUBS Lio, then reels him in! Canadian Rack, but Lio CLAWS the eyes again!
Lio is free, and he HANDSPRING KICKS Brody down! The fans rally while Lio runs around like a gremlin! Then he DIVES! Down goes Brody and the fans fire up again! Lio climbs a corner, goes to the very top, and he SUPER DUPER CROSSBODIES! Down goes Brody after all, and he again clutches the arm. Lio grins another wild grin while the fans cheer. Lio leaves Brody behind to go back to the ring. Brody rises, but Lio climbs! The fans fire up again as Lio sees Brody slide into the ring! FROG SPLASH onto Brody’s back! Cover, ONE!! Brody toughs it out, but Lio starts to foam at the mouth! Lio warns the ref, then goes to a corner.
Lio climbs while Brody stands, and Brody runs up! Lio leaps over, rolls through, then dodges a lariat. Lio waistlocks but Brody wrenches free and whips Lio, for the BOSS MAN SLAM! The fans fire up for Brody as Lio goes to a corner. Brody barks, the fans are with him, CANNONBALL! Direct hit and Brody gets Lio up, for the GONZO BOMB!! Cover, Brody wins!
Winner: Brody King, by pinfall
Lio’s strange new nature certainly took some getting used to, but Brody still powered through to victory. Seven singles wins in a row and Brody grabs a mic. “Tonight, in the main event, I’ll be keeping a close eye on that world title match.” The fans cheer that! Brody tells Ciampa that if he comes out on top, congratulations. But Darby Allin… Brody is so proud of Darby. The fans cheer, but Brody says, “Not proud enough to not bring the violence.” Brody has put both men on notice! Will the King of Death battle a Psycho Killer or a Relentless One when the time comes?
Backstage interview with Tommaso Ciampa.
Speaking of the Psycho Killer, Renee Paquette is there to ask him about tonight’s main event match for THE AEW World Championship. Darby Allin’s first defense, Ciampa’s first challenge, how is it going to go? Ciampa says he’s been told his entire career what he is not. Not big enough, not 6’4″, not 250 pounds, not able to pass the “airport test,” not charismatic enough, not main event material. But he will tell you what he is: A husband, a father, a son, a brother, with an insane work ethic. Tonight isn’t about villains and heroes, but about passion, about proving that glass ceilings are imaginary.
Tonight is about professional wrestling, for the grandest sport in this business, THE AEW World Championship. So if you’re asking Ciampa if he’s ready… Ciampa stands up to say, “You have never seen a man more prepared for his moment than I am tonight. Now go ask Darby Allin: Do you want this more than I need it?” Ciampa heads out, will nothing stop him from getting what he needs?
Adam Copeland speaks.
The Rated R Superstar is backstage as he tells FTR, “You said that Christian and I will never get another tag team title shot. Now, I might be biased, but I think we deserve another one. So I came up with a plan. Cuz if nothing else, I’m a fair man. I came up with an idea that I don’t even think you can refuse. Because you guys talk about being the best tag team of all time, FTR: The Greatest Team Team of All Time, right? Hmm. Debatable. But you’re one of the best ever, that’s nondebatable, otherwise you don’t do this (points to small scar) to my face. So here’s the idea: At Double or Nothing, Christian and I challenge you for the AEW Tag Team Championships in a New York Street Fight!
“Now, I know your little brains are struggling with, ‘What exactly is in it for for us?’ Well, here we go. You wanna prove you’re the best ever? If you beat us at Double or Nothing, we retire as a team. Hmm. Whaddya think? I know what my answer would be. And if you’re actually the best tag team of all time, I know what your answer would be! Unless deep down inside, deep down, you know we’re better. Only one way to prove it. Now, like I said, I know what I’d do, but I’m a man. Ball’s in your court, boys.” Cope heads out, what will Dax & Cash say to him raising the stakes?
Mina Shirakawa VS Hikaru Shida w/ Kris Statlander!
The Fighting Gravure Idol suspects of The Shining Samurai of being very two-faced, and not just in this passive aggressive way she works with Kris Statlander as a team. Mina suspects Shida even had something to do with what happened to Toni Storm! But will Mina expose Shida’s true self? Or will Shida simple strike down #MinaNow?

Shida sits on Mina for a cover, TWO! Shida keeps on Mina by bringing her up and around. Mina fires shots but Shida just KNEES low! Mina drops down, but Shida brings her back around to put her in a corner. Shida fires up and rains down fists! Shida goes right to TEN, then fires up again!
Shida snapmares Mina, KICKS her in the back, then pushes her to a cover, TWO! Mina toughs it out but Shida stays focused. Shida CLUBS away on Mina, Mina fires body shots, but Shida whips Mina to ropes. Shida scoops for a BACKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Mina toughs it out but Shida stays right on her with a CAMEL CLUTCH! Mina endures being bent back, and she fights her way over to the ropes! Shida grabs the hand reaching out to make this a STRAITJACKET STRETCH! Mina still fights, and kicks her way to the ROPEBREAK! Shida lets go quickly, then brings Mina up as Dynamite returns to single picture.
Mina fires forearms on Shida, but Shida HEADBUTTS in return! The fans rally as Shida whips, but Mina tilt-o-whirls to RANA! The fans fire up as Mina then SHOTGUNS Shida! Shida stumbles to a corner, the fans rally with Mina, and she runs corner to corner for an ELBOW! Mina whips, Shida reverses, but Mina grabs ropes. Mina BOOTS Shida, then steps outside. Mina blocks a kick to DRAPING DRAGON SCREW! Shida is stuck in the ropes but Mina sweeps the leg! Mina then aims to slingshot and TORNILLO! Cover, TWO! Shida survives and Kris applauds with the fans. Mina drags Shida around to SMASH the knee off the mat again and again!
Mina drags Shida up, brings her around, and has the leg again! SHIN BREAKER! Shida hobbles and falls while the fans rally up again. Mina has the legs, steps through, but Shida CLUBS away on Mina’s own legs! Mina hits back, lets the hold go, and Shida bails out. Shida clutches the knee but Mina pursues. Shida hobbles to her feet, only for Mina to DROPKICK the legs out! Mina then SMA- NO, Shida RANAS Mina into the steps! Even Kris is a bit worried about that one. Shida fireman’s carries Mina, then hurries up the steps to go to the apron. From there, Shida tucks Mina in, APRON BASTARD DRIVER! Shida grits her teeth as she kicks Mina into the ring.
Shida slaps her leg into working, then goes up the corner. The fans rally as Shida aims, METEORA on Mina! Cover, TWO!! Mina survives and the fans fire up! Shida just keeps on target, TAMASHII!! Cover, TWO?!? Mina survives again and the fans are loving it! Shida is frustrated but Kris rallies with the fans. Shida suplexes, Mina slips free, ROLLING ELBOW! Both women fall and the fans are fired up again! Mina and Shida stir while the fans cheer on “A E DUB! A E DUB!” Mina fires forearms, Shida eggs her on, so Mina ROCKS her! The fans lose their minds but Callis is no longer protesting the count, he’s telling the ref to either call it or let Davis get Ospreay in the ring! Doc Sampson is called in to check Ospreay, this might be worse than Dynasty. Ospreay begs Doc to let him continue, but Callis says he heard some kind of cracking sound! Ospreay drags himself up with one good arm as Davis is chomping at the bit. Doc says they can’t, and they CALL IT! Callis loves it, because Davis wins!!

The announcement is made, Doc Sampson and the ref do not feel Ospreay can continue, despite what his heart and mind are saying. Davis wins on that technicality, but then he drags Ospreay up in a SLEEPER!! The fans boo as Davis DUMPS Ospreay into the ring, the ref and Doc reprimand, but Callis says finish him! Wait, Marina Shafir shows up? And then so does Jon Moxley! What is this about? Davis stares Moxley down, but the rest of the Death Riders are here! Claudio, Yuta & Garcia circle the ring, and the fans are going nuts! They tell Davis & Callis they messed up, but Dunkzilla stands down. So, did The Death Riders just save Ospreay?
Wait, what’re they doing dragging Ospreay out of the ring? Are they really saving Ospreay or kidnapping him?
Backstage interview with Alex Windsor.
Dynamite returns as Renee Paquette is with the Iron Will NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, and says it has been a difficult week after losing to Thekla. Jamie Hayter is not medically cleared after her own loss to Thekla back at Dynasty, but surely the Brawling Birds are far from done with The Toxic Spider. Windsor says no we are bloody not! They’ve tried to squash this bug, but that didn’t work. So now, Windsor will rip off each of Thekla’s stubby little legs! Triangle of Madness, count yourselves lucky that Jamie is NOT here to help her stomp you all out into a puddle of piss! But then in steps the CMLL Women’s World Champion, Persephone!
The Goddess of the Underworld tells Windsor that she is sorry about Jamie. But she was here and thinking she could kick some annoying little asses. And who more annoying than the Triangle of Madness! Perse may not be a Brawling Bird, but if Windsor will have a Goddess in her corner, she’s more than happy to help. Well, that was easy. Windsor says the Triangle can pick any two, and they can meet Windsor & Perse on Collision! Now, how do you say, “We’re gonna beat the piss outta you!” in Spanish? Perse translates: Vamos a paliza muerte! What she said! Are the CMLL & NJPW Strong Women’s Champions about to crush Thekla and her Sisters of Sin?
Samoa Joe VS Cody Chhun!
After World’s End, not only did the Samoan Submission Machine lose the title, he lost time to injury. Hook’s been holding it down for The Opps, but will the real boss man remind everyone who’s in charge?
The bell rings and the fans are all fired up for Joe. The two tie up, Joe wrenches and wristlocks, but Cody rolls and slips under. Cody wrenches to wristlock, but Joe squats, spins, and fireman’s carries for the takeover. Joe has the armlock but Cody fights up. Joe wrenches, wristlocks, then HEADBUTTS the hand again and again! Cody endures, ROCKS Joe, but Joe just shrugs that off. Cody is a bit taken aback, but he swings again! Joe keeps up the guard, then he ELBOWS Cody down! The fans fire up for Joe as he waits on Cody. Cody stands, into a JAB! JAB! JAB! Joe fires off shots in the corner, then RIDGE HANDS Cody down!
The fans fire up for Joe again as he drags Cody back up. Joe puts Cody up top, tucks him in, but then Cody CLAWS the eyes! Joe storms over to Cody, THROWS him hard into the corner, then puts him up top! Tuck and lift, MUSCLE BUSTER!! Cover, Joe wins!
Winner: Samoa Joe, by pinfall
No ring rust found on Joe, he is truly back at 100%! And as Joe goes up the ramp, Hook is there to be the first to celebrate. They fist bump and hug it out, will The Opps get right back on top now that Joe’s back?
Backstage interview with Chris Jericho.
Renee checks in on Jericho and asks if he’s found partners for the Six Man Tag for Collision. In fact, he did. He was just talking to them. The HURT SYNDICATE walks out of Jericho’s locker room! Shelton Benjamin says hello to Renee, always a pleasure. Bobby Lashley nods, and Montel Vontavious Porter says this isn’t personal, it’s just business. Jericho smiles as MVP heads out, and adds one last “Bald.” Will Jericho, Lashley & Shelton make sure to not just hurt people, but hurt The Demand?
Tony Schiavone is in the ring.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please stand up and welcome the NEW AEW Champion of the World, Darby Allin!” The fans indeed stand and cheer as The Relentless One makes his way to the ring, holding up #PrettyPlatinum! Darby joins Schiavone in the ring, then takes the mic. Darby sets the belt down and kneels beside it while fans chant, “You Deserve It!” Darby takes a moment before he stands again. Darby paces as the emotions are running high. “This took everything. Y’know where I had my first match? Right here in Portland.” The fans cheer for that! Darby didn’t think of what he was gonna say tonight, because this can all end in a matter of minutes when Ciampa comes out here.
The fans boo that idea but Darby says that’s just the thing! It is just a 15 minute ride. Darby sees what this championship does to people. It can grow their egos and make them into something that they’re not. But this isn’t for him. This is for his parents that he helped retire. This is for his beautiful fiancé that he met back on the school bus. This is for the sherpas that helped him on Mount Everest. And this is for all the fans! Because when this 15 minute ride is over, he wants to look in the mirror and still know who he’s looking at. But MJF storms out here shouting, “No, no, no, no, no!” The fans boo as the Scumbag has to ruin things.
MJF says, “You Deserve It?! These people wanna chant ‘You Deserve It?!’ You don’t deserve s*it!!” The fans boo more but MJF tells “pipsqueak” Darby to give him back the belt, right now! Darby says no. The fans cheer, so MJF demands a rematch! Darby again says no. Darby tells MJF that he’s not giving MJF anything until MJF puts something on the line. Because unlike MJF, everyone else in the back deserves their shot, and that is what Darby promises to do every single week! Darby will put his body on the line until it gives out! And it all starts tonight with Ciampa, right now! So MJF, get your ass outta here!
And speaking of Ciampa, his music starts as he steps out on stage! MJF gets in Ciampa’s face as Ciampa walks down the ramp, but Ciampa just gives him a kiss on the cheek. His shadow knows his story, but will that story’s next chapter include THE AEW World Championship? The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see if Darby survives his first!
AEW World Championship: Darby Allin VS Tommaso Ciampa!
The bell rings and the fans fire up as the fists start flying! Ciampa SHOVES Darby to a corner, CHOPS, ROCKS, and CHOPS again! Ciampa whips corner to corner, then runs up to BOOT Darby! Ciampa runs corner to corner, but Darby follows to SHOTGUN him down! Darby goes up, up, and- NO, Ciampa bails out! Ciampa says time out, but no such luck! Darby just follows him to the next corner, goes back up, and SUPER COFFIN SPLASHES! Wild and risky as always, but Darby roars as he stands back up! The fans are with Darby as he drags Ciampa up and into the ring. But then Ciampa has Darby in ropes!
Darby slips free, trips Ciampa up, but then Ciampa BOOTS Darby away, into the desk! Darby falls in a heap but Ciampa is right on him. Ciampa whips Darby hard into barriers! The fans rally while Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Ciampa drags Darby up, hears the fans cheering Darby on, and decides to suplex and SLAM Darby on railing! Ciampa lines up a shot, and he KNEES Darby down! Ciampa revels in the cheers and jeers, then goes back to Darby. Ciampa drags Darby up and into the ring, pushes him around, then stomps the hand! Ciampa SLAMS that hand off the mat, then drags him back up. Darby fires body shots with the good hand, but Ciampa TOSSES Darby back out! Darby hurries to the apron but Ciampa BLASTS him down! Ciampa applauds himself and pats himself on the back, then goes out to stomp away on Darby.
Dynamite returns to single picture as Ciampa CHOKES Darby, but the ref counts. Ciampa stops at 4, but he shows the ring frame off to the fans! Then CATAPULT GUILLOTINE into the frame! Darby writhes and clutches his head! The fans are torn as Ciampa stalks Darby around the way. Ciampa THROWS Darby into railing, then refreshes the ring count. Darby slumps against railing while Ciampa runs in! But Darby dodges! Ciampa gets jammed up by the railing, and Darby goes up the corner! Darby takes the top off the corner post to then stand on said post, and SUPER DUPER CROSSBODY down through a table!!
The fans go nuts as Darby and Ciampa are down in the timekeeper’s area! Darby rises up already, but he flops right onto the commentary desk. Darby then slumps off the desk to hobble into the ring. The fans cheer “A E DUB!” for making this match happen. The ring count starts on Ciampa, but even Darby struggles to sit up. Ciampa hobbles his way over at 5 of 10, but he is busted open! Darby runs and DIVES! Direct hit into the desk! The fans go nuts as both men are down again! Darby snarls and rises, he rains fists down on Ciampa’s bloodied forehead, but Ciampa kicks from below. Darby hobbles, “This is Awesome!”
Darby puts Ciampa in, goes up, but Ciampa grabs the ref so he can then trip Darby up! The fans boo and the ref reprimands, but Ciampa sprinkles blood on the camera from shaking out the stars. Ciampa stomps away on Darby but the ref counts. Ciampa stops, Darby checks that bloody wound, but Ciampa keeps his eyes on Darby. Darby crawls over to a corner, Ciampa clamps on, and dragon sleeper, but Darby uses the corner to go up and over! Ciampa grabs at the corner, but Darby still hits SCORPION DEATH DROP! The buckle pad goes flying while both men fall down! The fans rally again as both men stir.
Darby sits up first, looks to the corner, and he climbs up again! Ciampa rolls away, the crimson mask growing. Darby pursues, but Ciampa wants mercy? Darby just has a sinister smile as he goes up that near corner. But Ciampa trips Darby up! Ciampa hobbles his way into the ring, then out the other side. The fans rally for Darby but Ciampa says he’s just as crazy! Ciampa sits Darby up to CHOP! Darby wobbles but Ciampa CHOPS him again! Then Ciampa climbs up, brings Darby up in a fireman’s carry, and tucks him in! SUPER PSYCHO DRILLER to the FLOOR!!! The fans are going nuts while Ciampa writhes from hitting his own tailbone!
The ref is freaking out, too, asking what Ciampa was thinking! The ref checks Darby while he’s down and out, and Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Ciampa still writhes, the ref has to check his bloody forehead and his back now. Ciampa grits his teeth and pounds the floor mats in pain, but somehow he is still able to sit up. Ciampa refuses to let this stop him, though, and he crawls over to Darby. Ciampa drags Darby up, the ragdoll he is right now, and puts him in the ring. Ciampa then drags Darby to a cover, ROPEBREAK!! Darby has life enough to survive by a literal foot! Ciampa is too sore to even be upset, and he slowly sits back up. Ciampa drags Darby around, CHOPS him, then sits him up for another CHOP! And another CHOP! Darby CHOPS back! And CHOPS again!
The CHOPS go back and forth, faster and harder, then Darby gets the edge! Darby runs, ducks ‘n’ dodges, but Ciampa CLOBBERS him with a flying forearm! A bit double-edged given his own head wound, and both men are down again. A standing count starts, rises past 5 of 10, and Dynamite returns to single picture. Ciampa and Darby slowly rise again as the fans rally up. Darby and Ciampa spot each other, and they stand up for m ore forearms! The fans fire up as the shots are simultaneous! Ciampa gets the edge, he ROCKS and CHOPS Darby on repeat, and in the corner! CHOP, CHOP, CHOP, and Ciampa roars!
Portland fires up as Ciampa pushes Darby, runs up, but Darby dodges! Ciampa stops short of the bare buckle, then he catches Darby’s shotgun! CATAPULT, but Darby goes up the ropes to then IMPLODER STOMP! The fans cheer as Darby turns things back around on Ciampa! Both men sit up again, and Darby fires a forearm! They stand, Darby fires more forearms, then he runs, runs, but Ciampa BACKDROPS! Darby does a full flip before landing on his face! Then Ciampa KNEES Darby down! Darby sits up like a Deadman, but Ciampa lifts him up! Darby slips free of the powerbomb to fire fast hands and RAM low!
Darby runs, hops on, CODE RED! Cover, TWO!! Ciampa survives again and the fans fire up! Forget crimson mask, Ciampa has basically painted his face with his own blood! The fans rally, “This is Awesome!” as Darby drags himself back to a corner. Darby climbs, climbs, and COFFIN DROPS but into a REAR NAKED CHOKE!! Ciampa squeezes tight, the body scissors on, but Darby pops through to cover! TWO, and both men hurry to their feet! Darby runs up, but Ciampa dodges, sending Darby into that bare buckle!! Ciampa then takes his kneepad down, PSYCHO KNEE!!! Cover, TWO?!?! Darby survives and Ciampa is shocked!

Darby bridges back with the hold, it’s almost a Figure Four because of it! Darby gets back to his feet so he can put on more pressure, and CIAMPA TAPS! Darby wins!!
Winner: Darby Allin, by submission (still AEW World Champion)
Portland gives a standing ovation to the instant classic, this truly bloody war, that was Darby’s first title defense! Darby wins out, and looks exhausted already as he sits up slowly, title belt in hand. Darby then offers a handshake to Ciampa, and Ciampa accepts. The fans cheer as they both bow deeply to show respect. Ciampa helps put the belt on Darby’s shoulder and pats him on the other. Ciampa’s first try at the world title failed, but will he be back before you know it? Wait, here comes Brody King! He did say he’d face whoever won tonight, and he helps Darby stand up.
Brody has a mic to tell Darby, “I was serious when I said that I’m proud of you. We have spent countless nights talking about moments just like this. I just talked to Tony Khan, and with your permission, next week, Darby Allin, Brody King, for the AEW World Title!” The fans like the sound of that! Darby and Brody shake on it, so the match is set! But if this is how beat up Darby is after just his first defense, will he stand a chance in his second? Or will the King of Death make himself King of the World?
My Thoughts:
A great Dynamite as we start the Darby Allin Era, but MJF also had a logical response to all of it. MJF will of course deflect that he was caught off guard only because he ignored all messages from AEW, and then he demands to get a rematch over how he lost. Kevin Knight confronting MJF was good stuff, good promo from Knight in that, and them giving us Knight VS MJF for the TNT title next week is really good stuff, can’t wait to see how that goes. I wonder, with Darby telling MJF to put up something, does MJF cheat the TNT title off Knight to then put it up against the world title? Will Double or Nothing truly be about a double champion while the other has nothing?
Darby VS Ciampa was wild for a TV main event, especially with Ciampa getting busted open and almost busting his ass quite literally with that Air Raid Crash from the top. Great win for Darby as just his first defense, and Brody King makes a great second defense just on the history between them. Ospreay VS Davis was also a great match, and I’m rather surprised by the referee/medical stoppage. The Death Riders coming out to save and then abduct Ospreay was also surprising, I have no idea where this is going. Will The Death Riders try and toughen Ospreay up? Brainwash him? Or reason with him that together, they can take down Don Callis Family?
Good promo from Windsor and Persephone, but a shame to hear about Jamie Hayter being hurt again, because we could’ve gotten a great Six Woman Tag of Perse & Birds VS Triangle of Madness. The tag match will still be good, and I wouldn’t mind seeing a Triple Threat of Thekla VS Windsor VS Perse, perhaps even with each title on the line somehow. Maybe something where the one taking the loss loses the title, the odd woman out retaining her title? That’d be the kind of convoluted yet fun match stipulation AEW would make. Though with that, it might only be Thekla getting the NJPW title so she can torment NJPW/Stardom again through this loophole.
Really good stuff with Shida VS Mina, with just enough of the Heel Shida antics with the kendo stick to further tease her eventual turn. Kris being the Face partner, she of course stopped Mina from using the kendo stick, and then that costs Mina, all good stuff. Samoa Joe of course wins his return match, and I was hoping more of The Opps here, but maybe Collision is where Joe & Hook decide if Bowens is Opps material. Great promos with Jericho and The Demand, as well as with The Hurt Syndicate. Jericho & Hurt Syndicate likely win because Hurt Syndicate is still on their return push, and we can definitely split off into Jericho VS Ricochet 2 and Hurt Syndicate VS GOA.
Very good promo from Cope to raise the stakes on the title rematch. But c’mon, a team breakup/retirement match has to give away that C&C win. Then FTR VS C&C Round 3 can be for like All In London and that will be just an awesome match for what AEW is making into their WrestleMania.
My Score: 8.9/10
