AJ’s MLW Fightland Results & (Unbiased) Review 10/7/21
After going to the show live, AJ decided to cover MLW Fightland’s big Vice episode instead of spoiling anything ahead of time! Check it out for Major League Wrestling action!
What better way to get Thursday Night started than your double dose of Balaz Reviews? Now, I’ll be doing MLW for this one for a few reasons. One, we have basically a new season and era that will come to play on Fightland tonight with the Fatal Four Way and the Champion vs Champion match at the 2300 Arena. Second, I was there so I might… slightly… entirely have a bias tonight and three.
If you enjoy this, I’m perfectly fine with doing Alpha Fusion for the foreseeable future. So with that, sit back. Relax and welcome to FIGHTLAND!!!

Review:
Tajiri vs Aramis vs Arez vs Myron Reed-
Arez starts the action quickly and everyone goes for pins on each other to get a feeling out until Aramis and Arez are the only ones in the ring and show off their Luchador Prowess with headscissors and flurries of offense until Myron comes to the ring apron and takes it to the two, Leg Drops all around, including a Slingshot version but Tajiri comes back in and knocks them all down after Reed goes for more speed offense, standing tall.
Aramis steps up and takes it to the ECW Original so he stands tall and we are getting some frequent flier miles with flurries of Dives and Hilos until Aramis dives onto all. Aramis tries to go for another flip from the apron but Myron comes back and lands a cutter onto everyone. Everyone after goes and scrambles for an advantage. Even after held onto for kicks and everything, including a Tarantula, Arez and Aramis are the ones remaining, showcasing their talent. Myron comes back and Cutter to get the most of it and it’s looking like he will retain. Cutters for all. After all that, Tajiri returns to fight and the Extreme Original stares down the Middleweight Champion.
Tajiri tries to go for a maneuver from the Fireman’s Carry but Reed reverses into a Stunner, holding onto the neck and attempts another Cutter but, gets thrown into the direction of the ref and the ref cowers in the corner as Tajiri readies the Poison Mist and spits it in Reed’s eye, hits him with a Buzzsaw Kick and the Japanese Buzzsaw wins in the 2300 Arena once again and is the new MLW World Middleweight Champion.
Alicia Atout with other journalists and media along with some guy name Dave too in there that they have a “Halftime Show” called MLW Embedded where they ask possible free agent stuff and WWE selling. They then talk about Osperay debuting in MLW for Fall (Hmmm… Maybe see it with my own eyes). It felt weird hearing AEW, WWE and NJPW in a conversation with none of them involved but, I’m just tapping into that cynic in me by going full Balaz.
Alexander Hammerstone vs Jacob Fatu-
Fatu charges Hammer but Alexander grabs him and takes him to the corners, shoulder tackling Jacob until Fatu gets back on it and chips Hammerstone down in the corners next. Fatu goes to whip Hammer into the ropes but gets caught in two Belly to Belly Suplexes. Fatu gets back up shortly after, in anger, and attacks Hammer harder, bringing Hammerstone to a knee and hitting a swinging Uranage to take Hammer to the outside. Fatu moves with him to the outside and lands a moonsault from the railing to the floor, taking Hammer down and going to the apron and the two have a small exchange before Hammerstone is driven with a Piledriver.
Fatu brings Hammer back into the ring and looks in firm control as the tries to toss Hammerstone into the ropes again but Hammer falls but Fatu isn’t going to quit and throws Hammer into the corner with a chair as Jacob Fatu hits a VanTerminator and gets a nearfall. Hammerstone gets an opening and hits Claymore kicks, Bicycle Kicks and gets some Suplexes off until landing a Sit Out Powerbomb for a nearfall of his own.
Fatu gets the advantage again and drops Hammerstone with an Alley-Uce and Moonsault but Alex rolls out of the ring to avoid a loss. As Fatu tosses Hammerstone back into the ring, Alexander comes back and takes Jacob down, hitting a piscato to knock the big boy down, tossing him in the ring and hitting the Missile Dropkicks Fatu and they are back to even.
The two begin to trade blows, punches, paint brushes, elbows, headbutts that Hammerstone forgot that you never headbutt a Samoan and with Josef coming in to trip up Hammer, Fatu knocking him to the outside and Samael hits the Spike into Hammer’s chest. Fatu gets a table and sets it up to the ring, laying the Contra Flag on Hammerstone and hits a BME to Hammer to get another nearfall. Hammerstone then begins to Hulk up and take it to Fatu. Even though Fatu gets up from the flurry, kipping up, Hammerstone grabs him for a heavy slam and then flexes to hit a TKO and Alexander Hammerstone stand up, on one ankle, to become the Undisputed Champion of MLW.

Final Thoughts:
Seeing this both from a live perspective and watching it on TV and a lot of things looked different. A lot of the moments in the Middleweight match looked very slow and idle at times but, the nostalgia was amazing for Tajiri but that match looked sloppy at times. If I watched it just on TV it would have been two and three-quarters but it was most likely the bias. Hammerstone and Fatu, I feel deserves the four I gave, not because I’m a Hammer Fan but it looked great. It was a lot like old school wrestling with some newer flair with the ECW Homage that happened in the match. Now, half way through the match, we are unclear of when or how but, Hammerstone did hurt his ankle so who knows the extent of the injury. All we know is this is a new era of MLW and I am all for it… might go from NWA to MLW… who knows.

Andrew’s JCW Lunacy Results & Match Ratings: Ep. # 81
Russo booking is refreshing in 2026? Go figure, it just took 30 years to tip the scales in his favor, bro.
Matt Cross is back and still after Caleb Konley, Father Bronson had a pretty impressive debut and EC3 declares he’s here to save JCW from Russo booking.
It was a fun episode with some decent wrestling, and apparently we’ve got Big Vito’s nephew heading in. There’s also the matter of Big Al needing answers from Dani Mo, but let’s find out what the clowns got for us this week!
We're off to a hot start on Lunacy.

Beekeeper Mike vs The Green Phantom
Moshpit Mike, is now a Beekeeper. He’s the man of 1000 Gimmicks. Green Phantom isn’t Matt Cross? It was just another Matt Cross cosplay moment?
Mike hits the Schoolboy, but Phantom kicks out, and works over Mike in the corner, Chops, Splash, an Iconoclasm he calls the Phantasm. But it’s not the finish, a few stomps, an elbow, then Phantom poses, but Mike pulls bees out of his pocket and hits Phantom with pocket bees! Mike wins via Roll-up!
Phantom is a solid comedy gimmick so far since he did a few things. We might get a real match eventually…but doubtful.
In a backstage interview, Kerry wants a piece of EC3, but Jeeves says he’s not worth it so he can face him. Kerry isn’t upset with having to go through Jeeves to get to EC3.
Kerry Morton vs Jeeves w/EC3
Kerry isn’t taking this seriously, but Jeeves ducks the tie up, and grabs a Headlock, but Kerry gets out of it, pulls the hair, kicks him a few times, Vertical Suplex and a few Garvin-esque stomps. EC3 being on commentary is actually…wonderful. This reminds me of when he was on TNA commentary during a Norv Fernum match.
Jeeves is getting worked over, and then a Belly to Back Suplex for a cocky cover. Kerry postures to EC3, then just dumps Jeeves off the rope run. Kerry flips off EC3, insinuates he’s skull fucking Jeeves, and then goes to the top. Fans are throwing garbage at Kerry and he’s egging it on, but Kerry just hops off the rope and kicks Jeeves. Classic heel heat.
Jeeves fires up with some Hockey punches, throws him into the corner, Stinger Splash! Jeeves tries another but Kerry hits the Lariat and then kicks the back of Kerry’s knee. Kerry shoves Jeeves into the corner, fakes the 10 Count Punches, but doesn’t give the crowd anything, just lifts the shirt and Chips Jeeves skin on skin. But Jeeves fires again, back to back Lariats, Tornado DDT! Jeeves gets a 2 count! I am loving EC3 on commentary. Jeeves goes for the One Percenter, but Kerry pushes off, hits the Kiss It Goodbye and cocky cover, but 1-2-3.
This was a fun cocky douchebag squash match and EC3 is telling the fans to throw more trash at Kerry, they stare down. Kerry shoves EC3 but Jeeves is back up, Jeeves kicks Kerry in the balls, and EC3 Finger Pokes Kerry to make him fall over like a bitch.
Forty Winks vs Luigi Primo
They tie up, standing switch from Forty but he falls asleep mid Hammerlock. Luigi Pizza Slaps him, and then flings him into the corner and hits a hip attack. But Forty passes out again and then sleepily kicks him off and takes Luigi’s pizza and hits him with it. Starts a Road Dogg style punch combination but falls asleep before the end. Luigi tries to win with a soft style cover, but Forty wakes up in time. Pizza Slice and another two count! Pizza Punch sends Forty into the ropes, Luigi goes to grab him, Forty Winks hits the Backslide and falls asleep but Luigi can’t kick out! Forty Winks wins via Narcoleptic Backslide!
Stupid as shit, but funny.

JCW Tag Team Championship: 2 Tuff Tony & Willie Mack (c) vs Choppa City
Atiba and Tony start, Tony ducks the first tie up and then needs some of his rum. Atiba blocks the swig. Now it’s a test of strength, Tony wins and sends rum into Atiba’s mouth, Atiba tags out, Bruce is in but Tony blocks a Hip Toss, gives Bruce the booze but gets pulled out before he can take his own drink. Double Chops from Choppa City, Willie flies to help out Tony. Tony is still sober, but they Double Back Elbow Bruce, Willie is…trading chops with Bruce even though he’s not really legal, but I guess the referee forgot. Willie hits the Purple Nurple, tags Tony back in, Double Back Drop and Tony is getting his own Chops in on Bruce. Atiba tries to help but gets clocked, however its enough to turn the momentum.
Atiba gets tagged in and a few tandem Chop spots has Choppa City in control. Quick tags are helping Choppa stay in charge but Tony ducks the Chops and hits the Double Clothesline. The Chocolate Juggalo cleans house, Lariats, Sitout Powerbomb, but the near fall is broken up. Choppas turn it around, Tony saves Willie and Tony sends Bruce into Atiba on the ropes, crotching Atiba. Tony hits a Superplex into a Scoop Slam and then Tony hits the Lionsault! Meteorite connects on Atiba! Bruce and Tony brawl out, Willie hits the Frog Splash on Atiba and the champs retain!
For those who don’t know, the Meteorite is when Tony pours the Bacardi on his fist, lights it on fire and punches the guy. Atiba, has an afro so the meteorite set his hair on fire for a moment. Shock value stuff. Choppa City attack the champs after the fact, leave them laying and steal the titles and the rum.
Vince Russo calls out Shane Mercer and Matt Cross. He tells Mercer he’ll raise his salary by 50% and Cross can get a 1 year contract, as long as they work for him. No more attacking Caleb Konley or helping Kerry Morten. He’s calling their tag team, “Future Endeavors”, so they’ll act as the demolition team. They agree, so the power dynamic shifts a little.
Blast from the Past Match: Nigerian Nightmares vs Necro Butcher and Pondo
Nic Nemeth vs Caleb Konley
Titled the “Final Fall”, since their 2 out of 3 falls match was ruined because of interference. So this is the 3rd and decisive fall from the 2 out of 3 falls match since it was 1-1.
As soon as the bell rings, Nic hits the Dropkick, Rude Awakening and Shot to the Heart elbow! Near fall, but nice flash opening. Caleb tries to slow things down with a Headlock, but Nic gets out of it, Caleb tries to kick Nic in the dick, but he catches the foot. Irish Whip, rope run and Back Body Drop from Nic. Caleb tries to retreat and beg off but pulls Nic into the turnbuckles with the jebait. Caleb lands a few strikes, starts choking Nic against the ropes and then taunts to the fans. So Nic tries to fire back, but Caleb chucks him out. Nic regains his breath and dodges Caleb’s Plancha and then starts Chopping and bouncing Caleb’s head off the guardrail outside. Heading back in, Caleb manages to sweep the legs on the apron and send Nic crashing to the floor.
Now Caleb is dog walking Nic around the ring. Rolls him in and he’s being a little too cocky. Nic fires back with punches, but Caleb Whips Nic into the corner chest first, then hits a Senton for a near fall. After a little arguing, Caleb goes to the heel Headlock spot. Nic is wearing down, but the crowd is helping him refire, but Caleb pulls the hair and throws Nic down. Caleb is showboating, tries the Senton again, and Nic gets his knee up. Caleb’s bullshit is costing him the match. Spike DDT from Nemeth, and we get another near fall!
Danger Z-no, Caleb holds the ropes, a little counter play and a Back Fist levels Nic, but only a two count. Caleb goes for the Burning Hammer but Nic fights it off, Backslide, but Caleb rolls off, FameASSer is countered into a Sitout Powerbomb for two! Atomic Drop but Nic bounces out into a FameASSer for another two count. Sweet Chin, no, but they catch each other with Superkicks. Nic climbs the buckles, looking for something, but Caleb hits the Forward Roll Uppercut, Superplex attempted but Nic blocks, Nic fights off with a Headbutt, Caleb crashes, Elbow from the Sky! But Caleb turns it into a Crucifix cover and steals the 3 count!
Caleb flips off Nic, but Russo shakes Nic’s hand and then flips off the crowd.
Overall Score: 6.25/10
Well we did get one decent match as the main event, but most of the appeal here is the Hardcore TV/Shock TV Russo style of wrestling. It works with the Juggalos and it’s honestly refreshing given how formulaic and sanitized most of the wrestling products are nowadays. Some shows are complete dogwater, but it’s like watching a bad B movie, the ridiculousness and camp of it all, makes it so bad that it’s good.
EC3 really shines when he’s allowed to say whatever sophomoric and unhinged crap comes to his mind. There’s a stark contrast between the current TNA version of EC3 and what we get in JCW. Phantom is dumb, but its still working well enough for me. Luigi however, I feel like that’s gonna get old fast. The dude flips a pizza during the match, he’s never gonna be taken seriously, and one note comedy has a shelf life, but as a fan of Jeff Hardy’s Itchweed persona, I can dig on some narcolepsy. Choppa City didn’t impress me, but they actually made the tag division a little interesting, so that’s a bonus. Then there’s Kerry Morton, he’s…he might be my favorite in JCW. He’s so cocky yet bafoonishly immature and naive that when he gets his comeuppance it actually still resonates like it should.
To cap things off, Russo basically paying his problems to work for him is genius and Caleb stealing a win in a solid match helps to make him look like a credible threat while also maintaining his whimpy shitbag heel persona. So it was a fun show, a little lacking in the JCW star power (Dani, Big Al, J-Rod, CoKane, Facade), but definitely was an easy watch.
