The Penultimate show before Bound for Glory! We get a little conversation between Christian and Josh Alexander. The last competitor for the X Division match will be decided and a Chris Bey vs Chris Sabin battle!

Also not to forget we have the 20 person Battle Royale for the Call Your Shot Gauntlet. Winner will earn the 20th spot, runner up gets saddled with the 1st spot.

What’s gonna happen with Swinger’s Palace since Las Vegas puts them out of commission? Does Heath have anything else to say? Who is Deonna’s poison pick for Mickie next week?

Before that though, let’s listen to some IInspirational IInformation!

Ratings:

  • El Phantasmo vs Willie Mack vs Rohit Raju: ELP wins via Styles Clash – ** ½
  • Savannah Evans w/Tasha Steelz vs Lady Frost: Savannah wins via Full Nelson Bomb – Extended Squash
  • VSK w/The Learning Tree vs Rich Swann w/Willie Mack: Rich wins via Phoenix Splash – * ½
  • Chris Bey w/ELP & Hikuleo vs Chris Sabin w/David Finlay & Juice Robinson: Sabin wins via Cradle Shock – *** ¾
  • 20 Person Battle Royale: Massive Cassidy wins eliminating Chris Sabin last – **

Results:

El Phantasmo vs Willie Mack vs Rohit Raju

ELP wipes himself out early, and Willie imposes the fact that he’s the bigger competitor. This very quickly becomes more of a spot fest, but Rohit does a great job in grounding the ridiculousness while only hitting a few high impact moves.

Avalanche Tower moves, Double Frakensteiners, the usual work we’ve seen in wrestling lately. It’s not X Division it’s more just AEW style spot fest. Willie Mack does manage to catch ELP with the Sunner, but Hikuleo and Chris Bey distract the referee. Willie wipes them out, Rohit ALMOST takes advantage, but ELP keeps kicking out. As it looks like Rohit is setting up the Mumbai Drive By, ELP hits his…questionably low punch, follows that up with a Styles Clash, and wins making a statement.

Savannah Evans w/Tasha Steelz vs Lady Frost

Savannah dominated this match by a country mile. Lady Frost did a good job hanging in and trying to fight from underneath, so aside from a brief flurry in the corner, Savannah committed a murder.

Savannah did so well, that Deonna came out to choose Savannah as Mickie’s poison match next week. See people from Jersey have an eye for talent. Bias confirmed. Oh – Savannah agreed of course.

VSK w/The Learning Tree vs Rich Swann w/Willie Mack

The pairing here is interesting since we know the issues that The Learning Tree has with Rich and Willie…but VSK is still only the star student of the school. He dominates the early going even adding some flair to something simple like a Scoop Slam. But Rich starts fighting back, lights up VSK, drops him and then ends things with a Phoenix Splash.

The match was never really close, but VSK did have a solid first minute or so. Could play into a later storyline if they hold on to both guys. This potential matchup has some legs.

Chris Bey w/ELP & Hikuleo vs Chris Sabin w/David Finlay & Juice Robinson

We get some really solid high flying chain wrestling with interlocked arm drags. Sabin leading Bey through the Japanese Junior style of telling a story through exciting spots aside from spots for spots sake; is reminiscent of the classic X Division style and differentiates itself nicely from the opening match.

After the opening transitions, the seconds on the outside start coming toward each other, the referee gets ahead of things and kicks all four men out. On the way to getting the action restarted, Bey takes advantage of Sabin trying to combo through the ropes and now we see a lot of Bey’s moveset.

Once Sabin starts taking some control back he…CHAOS THEORY FISHERMAN SUPLEX HOLD! Not only did Sabin lead that off with a soccer kick to Bey’s face when he was getting fancy mid handstand, he then pulls off one of my favorite moves in wrestling history with a Fisherman twist! This was such an evenly matched throwdown. Sabin stopped Bey’s offense, Bey stopped Sabin and kicked him back. Bey rolls forward for a Rolling Cutter or something, but Sabin counters it with a Gamengiri.

So after getting rocked by being kicked in the face, Bey falls to Cradle Shock and we get a finish to a damn good match.

20 Person Battle Royale

So this is for placement in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet. Winner gets the 20th spot, Runner Up gets the first.

I mean this was a complete cluster. I’m just glad they knew how they were ordering the matches so they had Chris Sabin getting pummeled in the corner and playing the “just had a match but wants a chance at the 20th spot”. Swinger got scared out of the ring by Undead Kimber and Undead Brandi Lauren. Myers got saved once by his Learning Tree, but then got Pump Kicked by Rachael Ellering to get eliminated.

Speeding through, the final 5 are Sabin, Ace, Massive Cassidy, Moose and Fulton. Fulton got eliminated when he got Double Big Booted by Moose and Massive. Ace tried to make deals and plans with the two Impact Skyscrapers, but they acted like they were going along with it until they just grabbed Ace and chucked him.

Sabin manages to get Moose out, but Moose helps Cassidy fight off one of Sabin’s attempts to tip him over. Then the Massive on flings Sabin over the top rope.

It was kind of messy and the fact that Morrissey wears light colored jeans in the wrong matches is annoying. The man done looks like he pissed his ass. He needs to learn the beauty of dark color jeans because big dude don’t got Drip…he just drips.

We end the show with a Summit talk between Christian and Josh. It’s pretty much stock but they are painting Christian in more of a cheeky…I guess he’s the heel position. But Josh has been seen as a little immature in how he composes himself before this huge title fight. Not bad, I just don’t love the set up.

Overall Score: 7/10

Good show, really good shoe. The IInspiration snippet already gives us a taste of the comedy styling they’ll be implementing in IIMPACT (yes the second I is on purpose for effect). The huge video package for Minoru Suzuki is awesome, especially since now they know better than to cut off an entrance and will probably even work that into the writing. Heath asking for a tag match at Bound for Glory against VBD either with or without Rhino is his corner shows a lot of character, which is great since he’s been off TV for a year. And getting the final X Division Championship participant and fleshing out the Call Your Shot first and last is cool. Makes you wonder if Suzuki will debut during the Gauntlet.

So there we go, a great match between Bey and Sabin, a match that I know many will like more than I did because I hate Indy Spotfests and solid set up for the storylines. Can’t ask for much more.
