Andrew’s TNA Xplosion Results & Match Ratings: 3.29.2024
Welp, will this one suck? Probably, but lets find out!
Well now, these have been more useless than the first 30 or so episodes of NJPW Strong. Might I just give up on covering this waste of 45 minutes? Probably. But I’m willing to give it a few more weeks and see if it goes back to the old formula that was actually entertaining.
Let’s sit back and get ready to tolerate 2 abbreviated throwback matches, a useless Top 5 Dirt Sheet Topics and a match that will probably make me start drinking (at least its noon where I am).
Hopefully I’m just doomsaying and its tolerable, but they haven’t given me a lot of faith for this show lately.
Ratings:
Ava Everett vs Tasha Steelz: Steelz wins via Okurrr – *
Results:
TNA+Thowback Moment: RVD vs Rhino, 12/10/2019, Impact!
They’re doing this since the match is an “Old School Rules” match, and I guess they are trying to set expectations for the Rhino vs Mustafa Ali match. But all you have to do is describe the match in the pre-match commentary on iMPACT!. This is insanely unnecessary.
Don West, You’ve Got to be Kidding Me! Trending Topics of the week:
5. Essential Match 2004 on TNA+
4. Leon Slater returns to TNA
3. Jordynne Grace retains title over Tasha Steelz
2. Kaz & EY in Full Metal Mayhem at Rebellion
1. Jake Something wins Number 1 Contender for Rebellion against Mustafa Ali
Around the Ring with Gia Miller is interviewing Dani Luna. Gia asks about her about a bunch of her tattoos. Then they go into Dani’s coffee preferences. Iced Americano or shots of espresso over ice.
ICYMI: Steve Maclin vs Chris Sabin, iMPACT! 3.28.2024
I suppose this is a small upgrade over yet another “From the Vaults”, but its still clip show garbage. I still think the Digital Media Championship needs to have a very relevant presence on Xplosion to give Xplosion a point.
Ava Everett vs Tasha Steelz
Everett is known as the Y2QT, and giving her an entrance and a little personality is nice. I’m guessing we’ll see more of her moving forward since she didn’t get the jobber “already in the ring” start.
Tasha takes the start very lightly and Ava turns around a Headlock into a Dropkick which sends Tasha to powder and scowl. Tasha is taking her sweet time to get back in the ring, also takes advantage of Ava being a face and allowing her to get back in the ring cleanly. Back Elbow to the eye from Tasha quickly stops any momentum Ava was trying to start. A few Chops from both, Ava with a Full Nelson, Tasha tries to counter and it looks slow and sloppy, then Ava tries to grab her and it also looks terrible. Tasha lands a few elbows and kicks out of frustration; not sure if she’s frustrated the last section looked like trash or why, but its the most believable part of the match so far.
Ava throws some of the worst body shots I’ve ever seen and Tasha grounds her and holds her in a Front Facelock. More terrible body shots as Ava tries to fight out but 3 Amigos start from Tasha, but Ava counters the third. Ava’s strikes are the worst I’ve seen in a long time…Holy Crap who let this woman debut? Everything is slow, lanky and awkward with not aggression. Thank God Steelz with via Okurrr.
Someone teach Ava how to throw strikes and not look like a complete dweeb. She’s like AEW women’s division level of awful.
Overall Score: 2/10
The main event was a steaming pile of shit and I hate to say it was Ava’s fault. When you make Tasha Steelz look like the technical master of the match, just retire. ICYMI is a better pivot than yet another vault match; but I hate the WCW Worldwide vibe. Also the fact the Top 5 is always 2 weeks behind by the time this comes out is just stupid. But I’ve complained about the misuse of the Top 5 ad nauseum, so from now on just assume I hate everything about it unless they change it.
Give us 2 undercard matches, 1 Digital Media Championship adjacent match and 1 other whatever match. The fact that we only got 1 new match and it was terrible really means that Gia’s interviews are the only thing worth watching on this program anymore.
FIGURE IT OUT. It’s really not hard. No one needs Dirt Sheet rundowns and clip shows, this isn’t 2001, everyone has access to all of this information in the blink of an eye. There’s good reasons that the G4 concept didn’t work on a relaunch, aside from no Diane Mizota; YouTube does anything and everything clip or review based programming did…but better and faster.

The fans oblige as Hartley fetches Callum. Callum fires forearms but Hartley ROCKS him in return. Hartley then BOWLS Callum into the chairs! STRIKE! The fans fire up for that one! Hartley nods, then heads over to fetch Callum. Hartley has more fans clear out as they move through the crowd. The fans cheer as Hartley CLUBS Callum, then takes aim! Hartley BOWLS Callum again! Callum slides with a chair for the second STRIKE!
The fans cheer and Hartley bows in thanks. Hartley then makes his way over to fetch Callum again. The ref wants this back in the ring already but Hartley makes Callum take a seat. Hartley CHOPS Callum, then heads back to the ring as the count starts. No, wait, Hartley turns around, and he runs up on Callum! CROSSBODY gutter ball as Callum dodges! Hartley hits chairs instead! Callum hobbles his way to railings to rest against them. Hartley crawls, and manages to take a seat, but Callum runs up to DROPKICK him right back down! The fans rally as the count climbs, and Callum is back in at 10 of 20. Hartley sits up at 11!
The fans rally harder as Hartley struggles to rise! Hartley stands at 15, and he hurries on shaky legs! Hartley returns to ringside at 18! Hartley rolls in at 19.5! Callum is beside himself, but he wants Hartley to wait. Both men sit up into a kneeling position. Callum then fires a forearm! Hartley DECKS Callum in return! Callum sits up again, and fires another forearm. Hartley DECKS Callum again! Now Callum stands and he dares Hartley to do the same. Both men stand, and the forearms keep going back and forth! The fans rally up as the shots go faster and faster! Callum fires a flurry, then runs, but into a fireman’s carry!
Callum flails and throws elbows, but Hartley puts him on the top rope. Hartley ROCKS Callum, and Callum clings to ropes to stay up. Hartley climbs, brings Callum up, but Callum fires body shots! Callum ROCKS Hartley, then hops down to GAMANGIRI! Callum then gets under Hartley, and manages a RUNNING POWERBOMB!! Cover, TWO! Hartley survives but Callum PENALTY KICKS! Cover, TWO! The fans fire up as Callum aims from a corner! Callum runs again, KNEE STRIKE! Cover, TWO!! Hartley survives again and the fans fire up! Callum grows frustrated but he then mockingly cheers Harltey on again.
Callum reels Hartley in, underhooks, but Hartley might be too big for the lift. Callum KNEES Hartley down! “Callum number one, b*tch!” Callum vows to end this, and he reels Hartley back in. But Hartley fireman’s carries! DEATH VALLEY BOMB! Cover, TWO!! Callum survives and the fans fire up again! Hartley pounds the mat, the fans rally behind him, and he torture racks Callum! BURNING- NO, Callum lands out! Callum BOOTS, HEEL KICKS, but Hartley DISCUS LARIATS! Both men are down and the fans fire up again! Callum sputters while Hartley again rallies the fans. Hartley drags Callum up, but Callum HEADBUTTS!
Both men wobble, Callum rebounds, but Hartley ELBOWS him down! Hartley hurries to cover, TWO!! Callum survives but Hartley hauls him right up! PILEDRIVER!! Cover, TWO!!! Callum survives and the fans fire up again! Hartley shouts, “IKU ZO! <Here we go!>” Hartley drags Callum up, but Zane Jay slides a chair into the ring! Hartley picks it up, hands it to the ref, and the ref puts it outside, but Callum LOW BLOWS Hartley!! Then EXCALIBUR!! Cover, Callum wins!
Winner: Callum Newman, by pinfall (advances to the next round)
The Prince needed help this time, but he still slayed another giant! Will Callum soon claim the Cup and the crown?
2026 New Japan Cup Second Round: Jake Lee VS Hirooki Goto!
Similar to Callum Newman, the Silent Jester defeated the Headhunter, but now runs into the other half of Bishamon! Will this Smart Bastard have a plan for taking down the Fierce Warrior? Or will the Goto Revolution rise again?
The bell rings and the fans rally for “GO-TO-O! GO-TO-O!” Jake conducts the fans like a choir, and there are “JA-KU! JA-KU!” fans here. Jake calls for silence as the two circle, and then they tie up. They’re in a deadlock but the fans rally again. Goto puts Jake on the ropes, but Red Shoes calls the break. Goto obliges and the fans applaud. Jake brushes that off and the two reset. They circle again, tie up again, and are in another deadlock. Jake powers Goto to the ropes, Red Shoes calls another break, and Jake lets off slowly. The fans applaud that, and Jake mocks the zanmai “HAI~!” Goto runs up, but Jake blocks the kick!
Jake kicks Goto, whips Goto to ropes, but Goto ducks ‘n’ dodges to then RUN Jake over! The fans cheer while Jake sputters. Goto stomps Jake around, then drags him up. Goto snapmares Jake into the chinlock, digging his knee into Jake’s back. Jake endures but Goto ELBOWS him in the head! Goto stomps Jake around, then brings him up. Goto CLUBS Jake on the neck, then follows him to the ropes. Goto CLUBS Jake again, then CHOPS! Goto whips, Jake reverses and KNEES low! Jake then hoists Goto up, to crotch him on the ropes! Jake mocks Goto’s pain as Goto slumps to the apron. The fans rally as Jake goes to the outside.
Jake aims from the apron as Goto stands, and runs up to PENALTY- NO, Goto blocks the kick! Goto trips Jake and he lands hard on the apron! Goto kicks Jake, then brings him around to whip, only for Jake to reverse! Goto hits railing, but he comes back! Only for Jake to get around, lift, and SLAM Goto on the apron! Jake rolls into the ring and leaves Goto to the count. Goto stirs at 3 of 20, sits up at 7, and Hashi coaches him up. Goto manages to stand at 13, but Jake is already bringing out his black medical glove. Goto rolls in at 17, but Jake stomps him! Jake cocky covers but Red Shoes refuses to count.
Jake argues with Red Shoes, and he changes feet. No, still no good. Jake properly covers Goto, Red Shoes counts, TWO! Jake drags Goto up to CLUB him, then he puts Goto on the ropes. Jake fishhooks Goto for the Bad Vibrations! Jake stops as Red Shoes reprimands, then throws the glove away. Jake stalks Goto, kicks him around, and taunts him while the fans rally. Goto frowns while Jake laughs, and Goto CHOPS! And CHOPS! And CHOPS! Jake kicks low, then whips Goto to the corner. Goto reverses, then runs in, but Jake dodges! Goto hits buckles, then Jake scoops him, to put him in the Tree of Woe!

Jake ROCKS Goto, CLUBS Goto, then brings him up, only for Goto to HEADBUTT!
Jake drops to his knees while the fans fire up. Goto HEADBUTTS Jake again and again and again! The fans cheer as Goto tops it off with one more HEADBUTT! But Jake goes crazy! We’ve seen Jake bring this out against Yota Tsuji and Yoshi-Hashi, and now this wild joker runs up on Goto! Goto takes a swing but Jake ducks ‘n’ dodges, but Goto spins him around, URA GTR! Goto runs, but into a BOOT! Goto RIDGE HANDS! Jake ROUNDHOUSES! Jake hurries to FACELOCK GUILLOTINE! Goto flails, but he’s dropped to a knee! The fans rally harder and harder but Goto is fading! Goto drags Jake up, fireman’s carries again, G T W! Cover, TWO!! Jake survives and the fans fire up again! Goto catches his breath before he stands up again. Goto roars and the fans are with him! Goto powers up as Jake sits up, but Jake SPITS at Goto! Goto BUZZSAWS Jake down! Then he drags Jake up, dragon sleeper, G T R!! Cover, Goto wins!
Winner: Hirooki Goto, by pinfall (advances to the next round)
The Jester was defiant to the end, but his run in the New Japan Cup ends here! What will it take for Jake Lee to conquer NJPW?
As for Goto, the fans cheer him on as he gets the mic. “Everyone, thank you for coming tonight! I will definitely win this year’s New Japan Cup, and then win THE IWGP Heavyweight Championship, the belt I have never held before, and then come back here!” The fans cheer that! Goto continues by saying listen up! Follow him as he brings the Goto Revolution to another victory! The fans cheer Goto’s straightforward message, but will he truly stand on the mountaintop he has fought so long to reach?
My Thoughts:
Another very good night for New Japan Cup, though maybe not as fiery as the previous nights. Good stuff in the tune-ups again, good to see Takagi & Drilla back in action as WarDragons again. Very good match from Callum VS Hartley, and Callum is doing really well selling those chair bowling spots. Hartley did get cheated, so that protects him in the loss while building the Heel heat on Callum. Great match from Goto VS Jake, and I’m actually a little surprised this is where Jake loses. His wild joker mode is 1-2, having only worked on Hashi, but Goto is a tried and true choice so it makes sense. And Goto pointing out that, despite having the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship before, he still needs the classic IWGP Heavyweight title is great stuff.
My Score: 8.9/10

Andrew’s TNA iMPACT! Results & Match Ratings: 3.12.2026
There hasn’t been a bad episode since the AMC debut…did I just jinx it?
So last few weeks have been passable but nothing crazy, also, nothing terrible. But one has to think that we’ll be seeing something shift. With two weeks until Sacrifice, we’re bound to get either an awful show or a show with some real momentum.
Ricky Sosa makes his Impact debut, Maclin apologizes and Moose vs Cedric in a Street Fight. So there’s potential for something exciting to happen.
Let’s see if we get crap or something to continue the good momentum.

Results:
The Hardyz vs Sinner & Saint
I cannot say enough how much I can’t stand these two jabroni, generic white boy losers. The bald one gets worked over with basic Hardyz stuff, Collar & Elbow tie ups, Arm Wringers, a Poetry in Motion…the doofus squad is getting rocked until the one pulls the other idiot down from a Razor’s Edge that Matt attempts.
Jeff tweaks his knee or something during the scrum, Matt tries to set him up with a Side Effect and depositing the one. Jeff gets crotched cause he’s slow. Doofus Duo get a near fall but this is a set up for Jeff to finally win with his new submission. He calls it Spinal Destination. It’s like a Cobra Clutch Backbreaker…or something. Looks neat but weird. Reminds me of when Okada tried to use the Deep in Debt or the Money Clip…and it just looked wrong.
Jeff also hits a Swanton after the fact for…reasons? This match was useless. Unless Jeff’s knee plays into The Hardyz losing against The System, this was a useless match with a nothing finish.

Indi Hartwell vs Kelsey Heather
I love women with two first names…(this comment is sarcasm)
Indi literally tosses Kelsey on her face, rolls through an Arm Wringer and making the Jobber look…very jobby. Indi shrugs her off, blocks a takedown, Shoulder Blocks her into tomorrow and takes a deliberate pace. Kelsey gets in a cheapshot, tries a gymastic Triplle Handspring Back Elbow but Indi moves. Body Scissors, Split Legged Bulldog, Dropkick, Kelsey gets a few spots to show her stuff. She flaunts her advantage too long, misses the Moonsault, and Indi kills her.
Indi hits the Spinebuster, does a little Batista afterwards and the Hurts Don’t It for the win.
It was a job match, but honestly, Kelsey looked pretty good. She’s athletic, attractive, I just wish all jobbers weren’t cocky.
Trey Miguel, Rich Swann & BDE vs Order 4 w/Tasha Steelz & Agent Zero:
Ali shows off his new look, new theme, new swagger. Still not better than Rich Swann’s newer theme.
Order 4 attacks right after their entrance, as the bell rings. Great Hands Double Choke Bomb Trey into the apron, Mustafa takes out Rich, they focus BDE, shoot him into the ring and go to work. BDE tries to fight out of the heel corner, but the numbers stop him, Ali tags in Skyler, Double Shoulder Block, Chops, Knee Lift, and a near fall. Skyler rocks BDE with combination Chops and Punches. BDE tries a flash Small Package, but Skyler kicks out, BDE charges and a Release Belly to Belly sends BDE flying. Hotch comes in, Skyler feeds him in, BDE fights back, Hotch gets flipped, Ali with the blind tag. Skyler halts BDE’s offense and sets up the stereo Rolling Neckbreakers from Hotch and Ali. Beautiful spot.
Long commercial break returns with Rich Swann spinning Ali around and a Tilt-a-Whirl Headscissor spiking Ali into the mat. Great Hands make a save, Trey and Rich take them out, Rich jumps back up, Frog Splash on Ali and…1-2…kick out!
Tasha starts jumping on the apron, Jada Stone comes out to even the score. Signature Spam spot in the ring. BDE hits his Oscutter, Hotch with the Tilt-a-Whirl Backbreaker, Trey with his Sliding Knees DDT, but Ali with the Dive to rock Trey, Swanny with the Back Kick into Ali’s face, Skyler Spears Swan on the apron. Throws Trey in, Skyler wants Slingshot Spear but Trey side steps it, Shellshocked into Lightning Spiral for the win.
Maclin comes out to make his apology and he’s clean shaven and enjoying being a douchebag. He thanks Daria, says she’s the best. Says he’s sorry Tom is such a weak bitch and felt offended. It’s a very Jersey apology.
Maclin also frames Santana as pathetic using his addiction and father as a crutch for sympathy. Drops truth bombs about literally watching people die as a Marine, his father is dead too, but unlike Mike, he doesn’t have the privilege to even remember what his voice sounds like. As I said earlier, a very Jersey apology. “I’m sorry you’re weak and pathetic, my life sucks too but I suck it up and deal with it. Grow a pair.” – that’s effectively what he had to say to everyone, and it was great.
AJ Francis vs Elijah
Kaz is back on commentary, and after getting verbally ran down, Tom is still bothered. So Kaz instigated is amusing.
Elijah drops AJ, bounces his face off the apron a few times. Elijah with the Drive-By Hip Attack and points at Kaz. Prayer Walk spot is cut off by AJ, Fireman’s carry, Elijah slips down, Pop-Up Forearm from AJ to finally get some momentum. AJ starts stretching Elijah in between the ropes, drops him in the corner and Tennessee Whiskey connects as AJ controls the match now.
AJ wants a Powerbomb, Elijah fights back, Alabama Slam, peppers in Forearms in the corner. AJ tries to whip Elijah out but up and over into a Knee Lift, dropping AJ on his ass. Elijah goes up, AJ crotches him, Superplex attempt, but Elijah fights off and goes back to the Prayer Walk with Elijah into a Canadian Destroyer! Okay, that was a neat wrinkle. AJ powders to the commentary table, Elijah cuts him off, takes a drink and throws the bottle at Kaz. So Kaz Stun Guns Elijah while the ref is distracted and AJ hits the Down Payment for the victory.
Hometown Man makes the save.
Ricky Sosa vs Brad Attitude
Brad takes a cheap shot, but Ricky spin cycles him, quick cradle, for two, into a nice Dropkick, Armbreaker to the Bang Bang beat, into a chop. Ricky tries for a Springboard but Brad cuts him off in the corner causing him to crash down, eat some Forearms and a Slingshot Senton for a near fall. Charging Euro Uppers, into a Rewind Bicycle Kick, nice Moonsault.
After blocking the first Blue Thunder Bomb attempt, Brad goes for a Slingshot, but gets caught, curled for strength show off and Blue Thunder Bang!

Atlanta Street Fight: Cedric Alexander vs Moose
Moose comes out hot, big Pump Kick, Uranage, Senton, and he’s just overpowering Cedric early. Cedric powders and starts finding spots to land Uppercuts. Moose gets in a Kick that rocks Cedric, Moose wants a Suplex but Cedric blocks, then Cedric tries the suplex but Moose blocks, Pump Kick and Chop rock Cedric. Moose tries again, but Cedric manages to power through and hit the counter suplex. Cedric goes to grab a chair, accidently grabs two, so while Cedric is posturing, Moose stands up, chair duel, into Moose getting the best of things with chairshots.
We come back from commercial to Cedric beating Moose with cookie sheets, setting up a chair in the corner…and whipping Moose into it! Moose puts the brakes on, turns things around, perches Cedric, GO TO HELL! Only a two count, but both powder and look for weapons. Moose charges Cedric, he moves and Moose crashes into the steps. Cookie Sheets must’ve been on sale at the Dollar Store, because that’s like three in a row. Cedric grabs a chair, talks a lot but Lish gets in the way. Cedric gives her a look and puts the chair down, but starts poking her. Lish slaps the dreadlocks off Cedric’s head, Apron Bomb from Moose!
Low Blow from Cedric, Powerbomb from the apron to the trash can. Cedric doing the typical illogical thing of wandering around for more chairs, even though there’s chairs in the ring. He shows the table…the crowd pops, but then he grabs another chair. Solid heel work. Took too long though…Moose gets up to cut off Cedric on the buckles Superplex into the chair pile. Everyone is in pain.
Moose makes a weak cover, and only a two count. Cedric counters the Spear with a Spanish Fly. Cedric bounces off the ropes for something, but Moose cuts him off with the Spear mid-air! Cedric powders so Moose grabs a table so the crowd is happy. Moose sets up the table in the ring, Cedric crawls in, they play the put the brakes on game, but Cedric throws Moose into the chair from after the commercial brake. Cedric hits the Brainbuster and Moose kicks out at one! Cedric hits him, Moose hulks up with the Moose trucker pull. Headbutts Cedric, Lights Out through the table! Moose wins!
Overall Score: 6.75/10
Okay, I didn’t know where they were going with Rosemary last week, but if she’s on this whole Redemption tour where we’ll see some nice callbacks, I’m all here for it. Swinger, Bravo and of course the Bunny Allie. Hell Dango taking Sinner & Saint to Mexico COULD maybe give them a manager or something to make me stop hating them. Goldylocks being back I don’t care too much for though. Bring back Lauren and then I’ll be giddy. Maclin’s Jersey apology was great, Ricky Sosa looked awesome and not many lowlights. The worst part of the show is honestly just the fact that Arianna and Stacks have no chemistry on screen. I find it kinda funny…I find it kinda sad, since they’re together for real…and they don’t work.
Daria and Santino trying to out pettiness one another is fantastic as well. Matches weren’t bad tonight. Generally enjoyable. Not a ton of impactful things happened, but it was fun, kept moving and not much slowed down the juice.
