Mission accomplished, so far.
“Our goal, our main objective, is to give you fans the best tag team division in the world!” The Young Bucks look back on the three months of AEW Dynamite, and feel that goal was reached. Tag team wrestling has main evented the majority of those 11 weeks, and now, it is time to prove they are still the best tag team in the business. It hurts that it took them this long to get back. Losing the AAA World Tag Titles, losing in the AEW World Tag Team Tournament, and losing to Santana & Ortiz at Full Gear. It has been a rough road lately, and they’ve been far from the best. But Matt and Nick Jackson scratched, clawed and crawled, and the Texas Street Fight put them back on top! They now have a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships, and the Bucks and SCU meet once again.
Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky are some of the Jacksons’ best friends, will be guests at their Christmas party, but will be their toughest opponents yet. “Friends or not, Wednesday, it’s our time to win those belts.” Matt and Nick are tired of lying about being the best. They’re going to show us they’re the best. And hopefully it won’t be awkward at the dinner table when the Jacksons are the ones with the belts out for the whole family to see. Merry Christmas.
Tony Schiavone and Dasha Gonzalez are in Garland!
They’re just as excited as anyone for the coming tag team title match tomorrow night! What a road back for the Young Bucks. They’re back up but will they be on top at the end of the Dynamite 2019 finale? And SoCal Uncensored doesn’t take it easy, they take on Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy to see if they can keep up the momentum. But first, “EXCUSE ME!!” The one and only Vickie Guerrero joins commentary!
SoCal Uncensored VS Private Party!
Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky finally get some private time with Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy after only meeting in Triple Threat Tags. Will SCU be all warmed up for Wednesday? Or will Private Party check off another surprising upset?

Vickie is a bit sad her favorites didn’t win, but she was impressed by all of them. Better luck next time, but who will be AEW World Tag Team Champions when Private Party comes back around?
Lexy Nair is back in the Control Center.
The Women’s Division is fiercely intense. Big Swole made a big impact as she beat #3 ranked Emi Sakura! None were more shocked than Emi herself. Will this mean Swole swoops into the top five before the New Year?
Then we got a heated message from Mrs. American Nightmare herself, Brandi Rhodes.
“Go on, mock me. Post about me. But what does AEW actually look like without me? A kids’ gymnastics meet?” Take the Women’s Champion, Riho, for example. Has Riho somehow gotten so small that we can’t see her anymore? We haven’t seen her around to do anything, much less defend that title. Perhaps Riho is just hiding. And then the favorite doctor, Britt Baker. Take a shot every time she mentions her boyfriend, and you’ll be down for the count quicker than Leva Bates. Not to be a hypocrite, Brandi does reference Cody often, but they’ve been married 7 years. Baker is just a groupie!
Kris Statlander still has a place in the Nightmare Collective, and Brandi isn’t the only one willing to greet her with open arms. Brandi, Awesome Kong, newest recruit, Melanie Cruise, “the family is almost complete.” They’re just waiting for the alien to come home. But who is this new face? “No, not yet.” We do not get to see the other newest recruit’s face. Will Statlander accept the offer? Who is this mysterious man? And who else will find themselves confronted by the Collective?
The new rankings are in!
Emi Sakura’s loss drops her from #3 to #5, and despite being suspended, Nyla Rose stays in the top 5 at #4. Hikaru Shida is also moving down, she goes from 1st to 3rd. That’s because Kris Statlander is 2nd after getting another big win. But back at #1, it’s Britt Baker! The Dentist and the Alien will go 1v1 on Wednesday to determine THE #1 contender and challenger for Riho’s AEW Women’s World Championship! Who moves on to close out the year with a shot at gold?
Britt Baker VS Machiko!
Speaking of those contenders, the doctor is in a match with AEW’s newest woman, who hails from Texas! Will Britt keep strong going into her contender’s match or be shocked by American Shojo?
The bell rings and Machiko circles with Britt. Britt wants to shake hands, and Machiko takes it, to kick low! She whips but Britt dodges and comes back, discus FOREARM on the run! Machiko pulls hair but Britt turns it around. The ref backs her off the ropes but Machiko kicks Britt low. Machiko fires forearms in the corner then whips into the same corner. Britt dodges to elbow her back! Britt runs in for a big knee, then runs to redirect and SLINGBLADE! Britt drags Machiko up, fisherman swinging neckbreaker! Cover, TWO!! Machiko survives but Britt just fires up. Fans fire up with her, and Britt aims at Machiko. Machiko stands to get a SUPERKICK! Britt spins Machiko around, armlock to Russian Leg Sweep! Then roll over, Rings of Saturn, LOCKJAW!! Machiko taps, Britt wins!
Winner: Britt Baker, by submission
Britt Baker DMD keeps on winning, and is ready to win again this Wednesday! But will she when she’s against the Galaxy’s Greatest Alien?
Kris Statlander VS Bea Priestley!
The other half of Wednesday’s #1 contender’s match steps into the ring! Can the Galaxy’s Greatest Alien keep pace with Britt after facing Britt’s greatest rival?
The bell rings and fans rally up already. Bea and Kris circle and tie up, and Kris powers Bea to ropes. The ref backs Kris off and Bea takes advantage to put her on the ropes. Now the ref backs Bea off, and Bea gives mocking pats on the shoulder before a big sucker punch! Bea whips, Kris breaks free, and then Kris spins Bea around for a dip. Kris boops Bea! But before Bea can hit back, Kris drops her! And drops a handspring leg drop! Bea avoids the cannonball senton to crucifix, TWO! Kris kicks a leg out, runs and dropkicks Bea down! Fans fire up with Kris while Bea bails out to the apron. Kris follows and moonwalk moonsaults, to land on her feet as Bea moves! Bea KNEES Kris down, then gives her a back suplex onto the apron!

Bea slips out, tucks Kris in, but Kris handstands and kicks back! Fans fire up as Kris uses Matrix handsprings to dodge, ROUNDHOUSE rocks Bea! Kris runs in to rock Bea with a back elbow, then runs side-to-side for a BIG knee! Kris brings Bea out, suplex to Gourd Buster! Cover, TWO!! Bea lives and Kris can’t believe it, but Vickie credits referee Aubrey Edwards.
Kris drags Bea up, scoop but Bea slips out and waistlocks. Kris elbows back but Bea grabs hair again. GERMAN SUPLEX! With a bridge, and then she continues through to a shoulder-and-leg capture. Kris elbows the suplex away but Bea runs, into a DISCUS LARIAT! Fans fire up again as Kris gets up. Kris runs to clothesline Bea out! Kris builds speed and DIVES! Direct hit with the tope suicida and Garland is thunderous! But wait, the Nightmare Collective appears in the front row? They’re apparently big fans of Kris because they have signs to show off. The recruiting continues as Kris builds speed again. Bea gets in but Kris stops herself, only to get caught with an ax kick through the ropes! Bea keeps Kris there, triangle jump STOMPS! Cover, TWO!! Kris still lives but Bea brings her back up. Shoulder and leg, Fisherman Back Suplex! Bridging cover, TWO!!
Both women are down but fans rally back up. Kris stirs but Bea is up first. Bea vows to end it and she brings Kris to the top rope. Kris fights out of the Electric Chair to get a rolling cradle! They roll and roll and roll and roll and roll, and roll, cover, TWO!! Bea went around the galaxy and survives, but her roundhouse misses. She dodges Kris’s heel kick but Kris dodges the knee. Bea dodges a clothesline and waistlocks to a SAIDO! Fans fire up again and Bea runs, but into a fireman’s carry! Kris with the GUT BUSTER DROP! And then, a SCISSOR KICK! Cover, TWO!?! Bea survives and the Nightmare Collective grows a bit concerned for their favorite alien. Kris drags Bea up, she scoops but Bea slips out, only for Kris to PELE! Scoop again, tucks her in, BIG BANG DRIVER! Cover, Kris wins!!
Winner: Kris Statlander, by pinfall
Undefeated and on her way to a contender’s match, this is surely why Brandi Rhodes wants the Galaxy’s Greatest Alien as part of her “family.” But will Kris accept the invitation? Or will she simply worry about herself on the way to the Women’s World Title?
Kris Statlander speaks.
“Did you hear the news, puny humans? Did you hear?” She is going to be our leader! She beat Hikaru Shida, she beat Bea Priestley, and Nyla Rose is nowhere on the radar. That means Britt Baker is next. The Galaxy’s Greatest has a rocket strapped to her back, and the gravitational pull is going to pull the title around her waist. Kris is ready for Britt, and she will #BeYourLeader.
Six Man Tag: Best Friends & Orange Cassidy VS PAC & The Hybrid2!
Trent and Chuckie T have been palling around with #FreshlySqueezed as the honorary third Best Friend. But the Bastard is in an even worse mood than usual as he waits for AEW administrators to do right by him. Will Pac prove he is worthy of opportunities when he, Angelico and Jack Evans win?

My Thoughts:
A really good episode for Dark to lead into the year-end Dynamite. We got great matches, aside from perhaps Baker VS Machiko. I don’t know what it was that kept this match so short, but it just wasn’t as good, either. It doesn’t really help Britt come in that strong to Dynamite’s #1 contender’s match. But as I said, Kris VS Bea was a great match, and Kris is on a roll. With the Nightmare Collective story and even a well written promo added on top, I feel like Kris is winning against Britt one way or another. I’m thinking Kris won’t join the Collective, giving us a big story for the Women’s Division going into 2020.
The tag matches tonight were also great. I didn’t expect SCU VS Private Party to open but it was a great match. Vickie was pretty fun on commentary all night, and starting with her playing up her “cougar” side with Private Party’s leopard print. Naturally SCU wins to go strong into their tag title match with the Young Bucks, that match could go either way, even with the Bucks having a vignette to open this episode. And either way, we will all love it. The Six Man was a great match, too, and fans really do love Orange Cassidy. But in the end, Pac and TH2 win mostly for Pac’s sake. Pac needs to look strong going into a potential rematch with Kenny Omega, and just in general so that he isn’t falling behind. While Omega and Hangman are seemingly building towards something, that doesn’t mean Pac can’t get his rematch, but I would like if the two stories were distinct rather than blended.
My Score: 8.3/10
