So we’ve got a little bit of an X Division grudge match between Chris Bey and Ace Austin, along with some other clarity on title matches. What is Scott D’Amore’s big announcement?

There’s a lot of Knockout’s title picture matches tonight! Singles action to further the tag match at Sacrifice and Susan tries to help soften up ODB for Deonna. We’re gonna get a Brother Brother contract Brother signing and some of the Rohit fallout with Beer Guns should come to a head.

Here’s to hoping Rohit can get back on track, since his ascent up the card was one of the recent highlights of Impact Wrestling. But until then…it looks like Decay wants to play on Saturday.

Ratings:

  • Tasha Steelz w/Kiera Hogan vs Jazz w/Jordynne Grace: Jazz wins via STF – ** ¾
  • Beer Guns vs Rohit Raju & Shera: Chris Sabin wins via Cradle Shock – ***
  • Trey Miguel vs Sam Beale: Trey wins via Hourglass – N/A
  • Ace Austin w/Madman Fulton vs Chris Bey: Bey wins via Art of Finesse – ****
  • ODB vs Susan: ODB wins via BAM – N/A

Results:

Tasha Steelz w/Kiera Hogan vs Jazz w/Jordynne Grace

Tasha tried to talk a little smack in an almost respectful way. Putting her over while being a mouthy brat. Jazz controlled the early pace, but Tasha proved she knows how to wrestle. Some great back and forth, arm drags, strikes and a fairly even exchange. The match was starting to heat up, but Kiera hopped on the apron, Jordynne flung her down and honestly that took away from the match a little. The finishing sequence seemed awkward at best, but Tasha losing to submission gives nice momentum to the challengers for Sacrifice.

Beer Guns vs Rohit Raju & Shera

Rohit and Sabin start the match off, after provoking Shera to show a level of emotion we haven’t seen him ever really convey. Rohit showed a lot of counter wrestling, misdirection and great ways to stay ahead of Sabin a little bit before the commercial hit.

Shera comes in strong, puts the boots to Storm and we do see some even wrestling, but Storm and Sabin’s tag team prowess starts to shine through slowly. A few blind tags, great tandem maneuvers and suddenly Shera is wiped out on the outside, Rohit tries to fight back, but after a Back Stabber & Cradle Shock, Beer Guns wins the match!

Trey Miguel vs Sam Beale

Squashy squash. Sami Callihan is using Sam Beale to get under Trey’s skin and force some “passion” into him. Sam got in one strike and then got whooped.

Ace Austin w/Madman Fulton vs Chris Bey

Ace and Chris start off pretty even, but Ace’s strikes are fantastic. Knee strikes and spin kicks give Ace a nice advantage. Chris stays resilient, but after a big Fosbury Flop, it looks all but over. Amusingly, since Madman was the difference maker last week, Ace had him take a seat, literally, and just watch.

When he gets back inside, Ace looks to finish things, but they start fighting on the top rope. Ace starts reeling, he’s seated on the actual rope, Bey gets him into a Fireman’s Carry, but Ace fights out and falls to the outside off the apron, shortly followed by a dazed Bey.

As we get back from commercial, both men are in the ring but sluggish and we get some attempts at haymakers, or finishes. Bey hits the VerteBEYker, but Ace actually kicks out. Bey starts trying to find an answer for Ace, especially involving a gorgeous Code Red, and Ace powders to Madman. Madman shields Ace, then Ace gives him the iggy and Ace uses Fulton as a jumping point to kick Bey in the face.

It looks like Ace is about to win because of Madman, but TJP comes to the top of the ramp with a chair of his own to take a seat. This causes Ace to get distracted, Fulton goes to run him off, and Bey hits a Cutter out of nowhere, followed by Art of Finesse. So Bey beats the number one contender, with a small assist to TJP.

ODB vs Susan

We get to hear Susan’s theme, and it’s kinda cool. She then tries to scold ODB, but ODB hits her with the old Motorboat and then a few slaps to her chest to irritate our Impact Karen.

We come back from commercial and Susan’s shirt is open a bit, so part of ODB’s gimmick really has been to take off some amount of Susan’s cloths to annoy her. So Susan got a small glimmer of hope and then poured out the ODB flask. I love how D’lo said that’s alcohol abuse.

ODB got pissed, hits BAM, and Susan is out.

So this was just a set up match as Deonna and Kimber come out to jump ODB. Jazz and Jordynne come out to make the save. After that, we see Fire & Flava come out to make statements. Tandem moves, Okurr and Face the Music. At the end the champions stand tall and it was a nice set up/beatdown segment.

The big announcement falls in line with the Christian Cage signing that all IWC fans saw coming. Sacrifice will be Title vs Title, winner take all. And the winner, will face Kenny Omega at Rebellion Title vs Title.

Big for Impact, but not surprising.

Overall Score: 6.25/10

This was definitely an odd episode. There was actually great in-ring work in two matches, the visual of the heel champions lording over the fallen challengers was great and the contract signing between the Good Brothers and FinJuice was entertaining. But boy, did that “big announcement” take the wind out of the show.

Many of us have seen the Kenny Omega trying to impersonate Ultimo Dragon angle on the horizon, I was just ever hopeful that they would pivot away from it. Because this screams that the “SPOILERS” of Rich Swann winning at Sacrifice get a little more credibility. Because it makes sense for Swann to get the rematch since Omega talked smack, and beat him in his own house. Thus setting up Swann to fail, and maybe Moose to chase; which works alright I suppose, I just wish they’d pull the trigger on Moose already. I was one of his biggest critics when he first joined Impact and during that weird Grand Championship era (though I still lowkey like the concept), but he’s finally started putting pieces together.

Maybe this is the last building block, where he goes from delusional, but a legit threat; to a motivated flag bearer to beat respect for the brand into people.

I swear though, if at any point Kenny Omega starts referring to himself as Kenny Ultimo or better yet, for the Final Fantasy reference, Kenny Ultima…I…just…no…God…Yevon…no.
