Zoey Stark talks with Io Shirai backstage.

Zoey Stark says the Men’s Dusty Cup is in full swing, and asks if Shirai remembers that Zoey made her debut in NXT in last year’s Women’s Dusty Cup. And that is right around the corner. Zoey has been rehabbing like crazy, but she won’t be able to make it back in time. So…? So Zoey thinks Shirai should find a new partner. What? Well, Shirai has done everything there is to do in NXT, so how awesome would it be to have her name on that trophy? Shirai doesn’t want a new partner. Hold on. Is that because she likes Stark? NO! Tiffany Stratton walks in to say, “OMG, what are you wearing? Did you find it off the clearance rack?”

But fashion aside, Tiffany figures Shirai will have plenty of time to find a partner after she loses to Tiffany tonight. Toodles! Shirai rants in Japanese, but says it’ll be okay, she’ll definitely show Tiffany what’s up. Will the spoiled rich girl learn not to anger the Evil Genius?

Cameron Grimes speaks.

Tony D’Angelo, last week, before I put that portrait over your head, I heard you talking about your boys. Rick the Stick? Well I got some boys of my own. Ben, Benji and a whole lot of Franks.” But they’re not talking about their boys, but about who is the better man, the tougher man. And there is no man tougher than Grimes. Tony D, you’ll be dropped off at Lil’ Italy as Grimes goes after Melo and the North American Championship to take it #ToTheMoon.

Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams arrive.

But not just them, OllieJayy was riding with them! Will they have VIP seats for when OllieJayy performs for NXT live?

MSK celebrates on stage, but they’re interrupted.

Legado Del Fantasma heads to the ring, but they simply move past MSK without a word. What will the Emperor of Lucha, Santos Escobar, have to say about his own near future? We find out, after the break.

NXT returns and Escobar has the mic. “Each and every week, ever since Bron Breakker has shown his hideous, ugly face in NXT, every single superstar says the same thing. At first, they go after the low hanging fruit. They mock him. Because of his father, because of his uncle, and of course, because of his family’s poor, poor math skills. And then when the jokes are done, everybody tells Bron just how special he is, and how he’s not only gonna be a huge star someday, some have the nerve to say he is a huge star now. Can you believe that?” Escobar refuses to do that, Bron. Escobar prides himself in being real, from the start, because that is a trait passed down to him by his father.

Bron and Escobar have similar upbringings. But that is why Bron’s family doesn’t impress Escobar, and why Bron himself doesn’t intimidate Escobar. Escobar doesn’t like Bron. Actually, he DESPISES Bron! He despises how fast Bron got here, how he’d been given all those opportunities, and most of all, he DESPISES hat Bron won the NXT title before Escobar! Bron’s been here only a handful of months, and he already makes Escobar sick! But here comes Bron! The NXT Champion gets in the ring with Escobar and Legado, gets himself a mic, and says let’s get to it then. Bron thinks Santos is a great superstar, but he’s insecure. He needs Mendoza, Wilde and Lopez.

Now yes, they have similar upbringings. But Bron’s family taught him to handle business head-on, while Escobar’s- Escobar won’t let Bron talk about his family! But Bron tells Escobar to callete! The champ’s speaking! If Escobar issues the challenge, then Bron will accept it. It’s that simple. Well Bron has a huge target on his back for someone who is always alone. But like Escobar said, things are done on his time. And trust him, when Escobar’s ready, Bron will know. Fans boo as Legado backs off, but then Wilde and Mendoza rush Bron! Bron CLOBBERS each of them, then dumps Mendoza out of the ring! Bron rips off his shirt, throws it at Escobar, but when will Escobar say it’s time?

Boa speaks.

“Once I become one with these powers, impeding doom awaits you. These powers are uncontrollable.” He tried to warn Solo Sikoa, “You don’t understand the fire you have ignited.” Solo fought Boa and got burned, but now nothing is holding these two back! Where will this fight end when these two can do anything and go anywhere?

No Disqualification Falls Count Anywhere Match: Boa VS Solo Sikoa!

NXT returns, and Sikoa makes his entrance, only to be blindsided by Boa! The Tian Sha paint is on, the vengeful spirit is in control! Boa uses a kendo stick to SMACK Sikoa into the ring, the bell sounds, and Boa keeps firing off! Fans rally up for Sikoa but Boa goes out to bring out chairs! Boa puts the chairs in the ring but Sikoa grabs one. Boa tosses a trash can in, gets in, but Sikoa hits a SAMOAN DROP! Fans fire up as both men crawl. Sikoa and Boa each get a chair, and they each wedge them into the corners. There’s one chair left, both men jump for it! They each get hands on it and fans rally up as they tug-o-war!

Boa gets the chair, JAMS Sikoa then SMACKS him down! Boa SMACKS Sikoa in the arm, then SMACKS him in the other arm! And again! Boa tosses that chair aside to get the trash can. Boa throws knees then reels Sikoa in, BUTTERFLY SUPLEX onto the can! Cover, TWO! Boa roars, goes back outside, and brings out a TABLE! Sikoa flops out of the ring as Boa sets up the table at ringside. Sikoa ROCKS Boa with an uppercut! They go towards the crowd and brawl into the back. Sikoa DECKS Boa into spare armchairs, then uses a chair to SMACK Boa down! Sikoa and Boa keep brawling and go further into the back.

Sikoa whips but Boa stops himself to then BOOT Sikoa into a table. Boa RAMS Sikoa into spare ladders, then KICKS him against them! Boa RAMS Sikoa back into the ladder, CLUBS him, then throws ladders! Sikoa avoids getting hit, but Boa RAMS him with one! Boa runs in, but Sikoa dodges and Boa hits garage door! Sikoa dribbles Boa off the garage door, gets the ladder and he RAMS it into him with a body check! Sikoa covers on the cement, TWO! Sikoa dribbles Boa off the garage door more, then gets space. Sikoa runs, but Boa dodges and Sikoa hits only garage door! Both men sputter but Boa drags himself over to Sikoa.

Boa dribbles Sikoa off the steel, then KICKS him against it. Boa throws Sikoa out through the door, then fires up, only for Sikoa to block the door! Boa decides to raise the garage door, but all that damage done to it makes that hard. Boa gets it open enough and Sikoa SPRAYS Boa with fire extinguisher! “Got yo’ ass!” Sikoa punches Boa and SMACKS him with a chair, and they return to ringside! Sikoa POSTS Boa, puts him in the ring, and gets that third chair to put in another corner. Sikoa gets Boa up, throws knees, then RAMS Boa into one of the chair corners! And then the second! And then the third! SUPERKICK!

Sikoa goes up and fans are fired up! But Boa hits ropes to trip Sikoa up! Sikoa falls out of the ring, Boa goes out to bring him towards the table. Boa smacks Sikoa off the announce desk, KICKS him, and KICKS him, but Sikoa SAMOAN DROPS Boa against the hood! Boa flops down, Sikoa rains down fists! Sikoa puts Boa on the table he set up, then goes to the ring. Sikoa climbs the corner, fans are going nuts as he FLYING SPLASHES through the table!! Cover in the wreckage, Sikoa wins!

Winner: Solo Sikoa, by pinfall

Sikoa threw caution to the wind and took the win in this brutal battle! Has Sikoa exorcised Boa and that evil spirit from his path?

Imperium speaks.

Marcel Barthel says, “Our name stands for dominance, our name stands for pride, and our name stands for success.” The same goes for Walter’s new name. “The name I’m known as all over the world, the name my parents gave me in honor of our family patriarch, my grandfather, the man who introduced me to this great sport. But now it’s time to leave the past behind and guide Imperium into the future, standing on my own two feet, with my own identity.” Barthel says this is the “dawn of a new time for Imperium.” They’re closing the door to the past to open one to a whole new future, a whole new age!

Fabian Aichner says “It’s going to be a future led by this man, a man who will spread pain and fear throughout the entire WWE.” He is now… GUNTHER. A rose by any other name would still have thorns, so will Walter’s transformation into Gunther simply mean he brings his devastating power into a new realm to conquer?

Duke Hudson VS Guru Raaj!

No more jiggery-pokery, the deck has been put away and Duke is playing for keeps! He demolished Guru Raaj’s match with Dante Chen last week, will Duke just demolish Raaj directly?

The bell rings, and Duke BOOTS Raaj right down! Duke rains down furious fists, turns them into clubbing forearms, then drags Raaj up to put in a corner. Duke throws body shots, forearms, haymakers, and stomps! “Dukie Sucks!” but Duke just whips Raaj into the corner to scoop and SIDEWALK SLAM! Duke shouts at the fans but they boo him. Duke drags Raaj up, reels him in, and gut wrenches to the crucifix, for THE RIVER! Cover, Duke wins!

Winner: Duke Hudson, by pinfall

But Duke can’t celebrate long as Dante Chen appears to call him out! “I’m going to give you the respect that you didn’t give me last week, by letting you know, here I come.” Dante gets in and brawls with Duke! The refs hurry in but Duke KNEES low! Fans want to “Let Them Fight!” and then Duke gets free to CHOP BLOCK! He went right for the leg of Dante’s that just healed! Has Duke made sure the Singaporean Warrior can’t raise the stakes?

Backstage interview with Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta.

Persia loves Duke’s aggressive side. And he looks good with short hair. Indi tells Persia to focus, but Persia says “Mrs. Lumis” is one to talk. But in all seriousness, they’re focused. This is a big match tonight, and Indi’s been training her butt off. These two are gonna be one step closer to winning the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships. Kay Lee Ray walks in, with her bat, saying, “Championships, championships, championships. We know that there’s more to being champion than just doing photoshoots. But what Mandy Rose represents is the complete opposite of that title around her waist.” Persia says to add Gigi & Jacy to that, too.

KLR says that tonight, they can all stake their claims to the titles. “Soon, Toxic Attraction are gonna realize that the next photoshoot they do might be without those titles.” Will the Scary Queen of Scots and the impressive duo behind her soon make Toxic Attraction face utter destruction?

Backstage interview with Legado Del Fantasma.

Wilde & Mendoza are still seething, and though McKenzie asks why Escobar didn’t take Bron on, Mendoza answers. “What the hell is going on?” He goes off in Spanish, and then Wilde says that Bron needs to find out what happens when you disrespect Legado! Escobar says the young champion has made a mistake. These two will get a piece of Bron, 2v1. Unless of course, Bron can find a friend. That’s unlikely since Bron is NXT Champion, and that is a very, very lonely job. So safe to say, Bron’s growing pains are just going to continue. Lopez remembers Bron said it himself, he’s first to arrive and last to leave.  Maybe Legado hangs around, too.

NXT hear from Malik Blade & Edris Enofe.

Malik can’t believe they’re in the semifinals! And Enofe says they could go all the way. If they do make it and win, they can ask out Mandy Rose. Whoa, what? But she won’t ever say yes. What? No one thought they’d make it even this far, and yet here they are. People thought they’d lose to Harland & Gacy, and then to Legado. But they’ve shocked the world and busted brackets. They can win the whole damn thing, and get those NXT Tag Team Championships! And asking out Mandy. Well, we’ll see. Enofe says Malik can ask out Mandy, while he asks out Gigi AND Jacy.

Malik has seen Enofe’s Instagram. He’s a bad influence. Some might say toxic. Enofe shows off the dancing pecs, but will they be able to impress against MSK?

Cora Jade finds Raquel Gonzalez working out.

So, has Raquel thought about it? Yes, and the answer is still no. What? Why? Raquel isn’t interested in the Women’s Dusty Cup, Cora. What does Cora have to do? Does she have to lift the same weight Raquel does? She can totally do that. Don’t go hurting yourself, kid. Cora tries but it doesn’t budge. Cora asks if this is about New Year’s Evil. No, it’s not. Raquel won the Dusty, knows what it takes, and as much as she hates Dakota, Dakota also knows what it takes and does whatever it takes to win. So can Cora! Okay, Cora jumped off the top of a cage, but that was one time.

The Dusty Cup is round after round. Raquel needs someone she can trust, someone who can get up after getting knocked down. And that just isn’t Cora. Cora says it is! No it isn’t. Yes it is! NO. IT’S NOT. Cora wants to prove it, but Raquel easily blocks her slap. Don’t push it. Raquel storms off, but will Cora get the hint?

Von Wagner gets in and attacks Bodhi! OLYMPIC SLAM! Robert Stone is there, too, admiring Von’s work as he gives Chase a DEATH VALLEY DRIVER! Stone then enters the ring, and he gives Von a suit to wear. The Robert Stone Brand has been resurrected, and it has incredible brawn to match Stone’s brains. Will these two take over NXT soon enough?

Grayson Waller speaks.

“LA Knight. You thought you had me dead to rights. Dexter Lumis doing your dirty work, but NAH NAH. You thought it was going to be the end of Grayson Waller, but my star is shining brighter than ever. Now, the Grayson Waller Effect is going global, baby!” He has the Bollywood Star by his side as his secret service, protecting NXT’s hottest commodity. And Knight is at a third grade reading level, so he needs to read the restraining order. Sound out those bigger words. It’d be a shame if he goes to jail. Knight might find a way around it, but Waller will be waiting for him. And Sanga, well, he’ll wanna meet Knight first.

Io Shirai VS Tiffany Stratton!

Whether or not the Evil Genius has warmed up to Zoey Stark, she can’t stand Daddy’s Spoiled Princess. Will Shirai simply add Tiffany to the long list of people she’s defeated here in NXT?

Malcolm Bivens speaks.

“Gunther? What an awful name, I can’t believe your parents named you that. It should’ve been ‘DUMBASS,’ in all caps. I don’t care what you call yourself or what your legacy may be, because everyone keeps talking about, ‘This is a new beginning for Imperium.’ No. This is the beginning of the end for Imperium, because the Creed Brothers are gonna win the Dusty Classic, and then they will become the new NXT Tag Team Champions. And then Roderick Strong, the leader of Diamond Mine, Gunther, he’s gonna chop you down like the big dumb Austrian tree you are.” And then, Ivy Nile will stretch Gunther from here to his mama’s house.

So next week, Gunther can bring his boys, Bivens will bring his, Six Man Tag big money. Julius Creed says Imperium thinks they’re tough, but compared to Diamond Mine, they’re just European pretty boys. Brutus agrees, and says that they’re world class athletes that will take them down whenever they want! Strong says no one out trains, outlasts, or outworks Roderick Strong and Diamond Mine. Enjoy last week’s win, because that is never gonna happen again. Diamond Mine forever!

Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams head to the ring.

Trick says, “Now as you know, Trick ‘n’ Melo always here to steal the show. But tonight, we’re here to introduce our girl to the WWE Universe!” Melo says y’all better put some respeck on the name! She is the FLIEST chick to ever set in the WWE, so make some noise for OllieJayy! Ollie thanks the boys, and says she IS NXT 2.0. She’s here to perform her track, “Make ‘Em Fall.” After Ollie finishes, Melo says Ollie don’t miss! That’s all it is, and that’s all it ever gon’ be!

Tony D’Angelo speaks.

He heard Grimes chirping earlier. That’ll stop when Tony busts Grimes’ face open in two seconds. Then after Grimes, Tony D has a date with destiny and the North American title at NXT Vengeance Day. Will the Made Man make himself #1 contender in tonight’s main event?

Tiffany Stratton complains to her dad.

Did he see what happened? That ref was so unfair! The incompetence level was so beyond, she couldn’t believe it! Hold on. She sees Wendy Choo sipping her drink. Tiffany shouldn’t feel too bad. Everyone loses to Io. Tiffany gets upset and slaps Wendy’s drink out of her hand! That was her free refill! Tiffany says there are so many freaks here. Wendy says she’s not a freak, she just likes being comfortable. But will Tiffany stop whining long enough to actually work and get better in the ring?

NXT North American Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Cameron Grimes VS Tony D’Angelo!

The Carolina Cash Money Caveman was once Million Dollar Champion, but “that damn” Ted DeBiase took back that golden legacy real quick. Now Grimes wants more gold so he can go #ToTheMoon! But Tony D, he sent the Bruiserweight to the hospital with a busted face from a crowbar. Will Tony break the bank and take the golden ticket to Vengeance Day? Or will Grimes be the one cashing in big like he did all last year?

The bell rings, the two circle, and Grimes shoots in for a leg. Tony stays up, gets to ropes, but then he pulls Grimes’ hair! Grimes wrenches a wristlock, Tony rolls and drags Grimes down to get the wristlock back. Grimes kips up, slips through to wrench and arm-drag Tony around! Grimes tells Tony to #KissMahGrits! Tony seethes, rushes Grimes but is sent out of the ring! Grimes then goes to the apron to PENALTY KICK Tony down! Melo and Trick watch from the perch but Grimes puts Tony in the ring. Grimes gets around to waistlock and CLUB Tony, then EuroUpper! Tony staggers into a KICK and a CHOP!

Grimes bumps Tony off buckles, whips him to ropes, but Tony throws Grimes down by his hair! Tony then sets up, clinches Grimes and hits an EXPLODER! Fans rally with Tony as he talks trash to Grimes and Melo. Tony stomps Grime sin a corner, digs his head into the mat, but the ref counts. Tony lets off at 4, stomps Grimes, then RAMS his shoulder in. Tony whips Grimes corner to corner hard, and Grimes tumbles up and out of the ring! Tony goes out, puts Grimes back in and pushes Grimes around. Tony whips Grimes to ropes, scoops and hits a BACKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Tony grows annoyed but fans rally as NXT goes picture in picture.

Tony stomps Grimes, talks more trash, and Grimes drags himself to ropes. Tony chokes Grimes on the ropes, the ref counts, and Tony lets off at 4. Tony reels Grimes in, throws body shots, and then cranks on the facelock. Grimes endures, fights up, but Tony whips him to ropes. Grimes ducks and dodges, to then CROSSBODY! Fans fire up behind Grimes as he runs, and Grimes rallies with forearms! Grimes goes corner to corner, but Tony dodges the boot! Grimes gets stuck in the ropes, Tony brings him out, GERMAN SUPLEX! The Bruiserweight glares at Tony as he gets his revenge, then shrugs. Tony gets in the ring in a huff, CAVE-IN!! Cover, Grimes wins!

Winner: Cameron Grimes, by pinfall (NEW #1 Contender to the NXT North American Champion)

Grimes is coming for the gold! He and Melo are gonna meet on Vengeance Day, but will it be the day Grimes finally gets that North American Championship?

NXT Media catches Bron Breakker on his way out.

What’re his thoughts on Escobar’s tag team challenge? Who will Bron ask to be his tag partner? Bron says Escobar is a number’s guy. As far as partners go, it doesn’t really matter. But wait, who is this pulling up? Legado is here, ready to jump him! NOW is the time Escobar wants to fight Bron! Bron’s ready, but stepping up to reinforce him is TOMMASO CIAMPA! Bron says the math checks out. See you later! Bron and Ciampa fist bump, will they break Wilde & Mendoza to leave Escobar without his pawns?

My Thoughts:

A great NXT, with a lot of great stuff set up for the return of NXT Vengeance Day. That main event, especially. Grimes wins in a great match with Tony D’Angelo, and Grimes is going to have an awesome match with Melo. However, I’m moderately confused with Pete Dunne showing up. If he is being called up to RawDown, why is he back? I suppose screwing Tony over is good enough, but perhaps they’re giving him one more match for a better sendoff than that crowbar to the face? Similarly, what about Ciampa? I like that he’s the one backing Bron up against Legado, but what about Xyon Quinn? Shouldn’t Xyon want payback on Legado for his own story? Or is that going to happen in next week’s tag match anyway?

We got awesome Men’s Dusty Cup matches tonight, especially MSK VS Jacket Time in the opener. That really could’ve been how they booked the semifinal or final match, and I think MSK’s in-ring action is finally winning the performance center crowd over. Enofe & Malik have a good promo to hype their match with MSK up, but it again seems like erryone in NXT 2.0 is thirsty. Grizzled Young Veterans VS Chase & Bodhi was good stuff, and Chase U got to look great in defeat. Diamond Mine is calling Imperium out, so I’m thinking Imperium wins the Six Man Tag to give Creed Brothers the math to win against GYV. Though that’s a bit of a shame for GYV.

Speaking of Imperium, their promo was very good, and it does give reason for Walter to change his name to Gunther, but I gotta agree with Biven’s line about it being a dumb name. But Walter-Gunther will certainly be on his way to a singles title past Vengeance Day, so the winner of Grimes VS Melo better watch out. Waller had a good promo to call out LA Knight and give us Saurav Gurjar’s new name. Sanga better be more careful on social media this time. But he’ll have a good match against Knight to give Knight the momentum going into whatever match he has with Waller. Duke dominating Raaj was great, as was his brawl with Dante. Their match is going to really good, too.

Boa VS Sikoa in the No DQ Falls Count Anywhere match was awesome stuff. They didn’t explore as much of the arena as they could have, and they really focused on the garage door. Maybe too much, since it was so hard for Boa to pull the chain and lift it after all the dents made. But that table spot was an awesome finish, and Sikoa himself could be waiting on the other side of the Vengeance Day North American Championship match. OllieJayy is here, she’s clearly going to be NXT 2.0’s answer to Poppy. Having her already have a kayfabe link to Melo & Hayes is a good start to getting fans to know her, but honestly, it doesn’t really matter to me if she shows up more or not. I was behind in watching and just used fast-forward through her song.

Tiffany Stratton of course loses to Shirai, but I’m curious to what she’ll get Daddy to do about her complaints. The interaction of Shirai and Stark was much more interesting, but I’m not sure Shirai will bother with the Women’s Dusty Cup, even if Stark was healthy. I didn’t think Cora’s new strategy to get Raquel on her side would be to slap her, and we’re going to get a match out of that. Pretty sure Cora will “impress” Raquel by getting up after every big shot she takes until the Chingona Bomb. Then they end up a Dusty Cup team, and who knows how that goes. The Six Woman Tag was good stuff, I still feel like Jacy was a bit awkward but she’s been improving.

KLR chasing Mandy off was great, as was Persia finishing it off. If the tag title story doesn’t go in their favor, I see Persia going after Indi and they feud. Persia could definitely be built as a singles wrestler since Vince loves big powerhouses. The next two weeks will definitely set up title matches for Vengeance Day, but who knows if Toxic Attraction drops any of the belts.

My Score: 8.7/10

Hangman Page is here!

The Cowboy is in Huntsville, Alabama, and using a crutch? It was concerning at the end of last week’s Dynamite that Hangman was clutching his ankle near the end of the Six Man Tag match. Hangman hops up the steel steps to step into the ring, and he gets the mic. “This probably doesn’t look like a promising start to the speech, huh, guys? I feel like I might say it too much but it’s important to me, so I will say it. When AEW started, it was a new endeavor for my friends, but for me, it was something different. It was a goal. It was an opportunity to rise to people’s expectations, to make the most of the world laid in front of me.

“And I’d like to think that I did that, and I’d like to think that winning the world championship in 2021…” The fans start to cheer, and Hangman says he likes to think that doing that was the biggest accomplishment of his career. That’s why it hurts so much to have that opportunity in front of him again, and have this happen. Fans don’t want it to be true but Hangman says, “When AEW decided that at Revolution, the world championship would be decided in a Three Way match, I said it was BS. And I meant it. And I suggested that maybe the championship should be decided in a singles match, but it looks like I had the wrong two competitors.”

Fans boo, hoping this isn’t true, but Hangman says he won’t apologize to Swerve or Joe. But he will tell us the truth, because he’s always honest with us, that this Sunday at Revolution, Hangman will not be able to compete. The fans are upset, but then “Whose house?” “SWERVE’S HOUSE!” Prince Nana leads the way and does his dance as Swerve Strickland makes his entrance. The Realest goes down the ramp, to the ring, and already has a mic of his own. Fans cheer and chant, then Swerve says, “These last six months, man, we’ve been to war. I tried to kill you, you tried to kill me, I might’ve crossed the line a couple times…

“But I didn’t really expect this to happen. I targeted you because of everything you accomplished here in AEW. And to say that I didn’t have the utmost respect of that would just be a flat out lie. But you suffered this unfortunate fate, and the funny thing about fate, you can’t escape it. And you can’t stop destiny. And my destiny awaits me this Sunday at Revolution as I go on to become the AEW World Champion.” But then here comes said champion, Samoa Joe! The fans chant for “JOE! JOE! JOE!” as he stands on stage in a suit, mic in hand and belt on his shoulder. “Destiny? You boys are out here talking about destiny?

“Now what do we have here? It seems two of the most bitter enemies ever out here are trying to hug it out, huh?” Joe says a lot of lies are being told so he will correct them with a few truths. First, week after week, these two have stared daggers at each other, thinking that the destiny of this championship was tearing the other man’s throat out. That was only because they both avoided making eye contact with Joe and realized who the real man around here is. Second, though Joe doesn’t quite understand this dynamic, whether or not Hangman is in the match. Or should we call him “Hop Along?”

Joe keeps hearing about how Hangman and Swerve are young, hungry contenders. But that’s ridiculous! They’re both battle tested, battle hardened warriors in that ring, and there’s nothing new about them. They’re hungry but accomplished. The fans cheer that. But what they both need to realize is that the only reason they’re hungry is because Joe is starving their asses! As long as Joe has the title, there won’t be no more meals come dinner time! So he will explain to them who Joe is, and who they should really be worried about! He is Samoa Joe, the AEW World Champion, and whether it is one or both of them, Joe will whoop both their asses.

Swerve tells Joe to hold on so he can explain just who the hell Swerve is! “I’m someone that went from unemployed to headlining PPVs! I’m someone that went from being a Cruiserweight to going after the world championship! But make no mistake about it, I am that same man that broke into a wrestling school and left an 18 year old laying in a bloody heap! I am that same man that trespassed in another man’s home and threatened his infant son! I’ll do whatever it takes to become world champion! I’m not only a career maker, I am a career changer! And after I take that championship from you, Joe, you’re not gonna what to do with yourself.

“Hell, you might wanna go back to commentary wearing a poncho again. Who knows.” Joe seethes as Swerve says he is on the verge of making history! And this Sunday at Revolution, Swerve WILL become AEW World Champion! Whose House? “SWERVE’S HOUSE!” Whose House?! “SWERVE’S HOUSE!” WHOSE HOUSE?! HANGMAN ATTACKS WITH THE CRUTCH!! He was faking all along!? Hangman shouts for Swerve to get up and Joe grins! Hangman CLOBBERS Swerve with the crutch now! Hangman says Swerve will NEVER have that championship! Hangman tells Joe the same, that Swerve won’t take the title, HANGMAN will!

Fans are torn but Joe understands now that it is still a Triple Threat. But did Hangman just switch it up and use that crutch to take Swerve out of the running? Or will Hangman regret swerving a man as dangerous as Swerve?

The Young Bucks arrive backstage.

Matthew Jackson is in a black suit, Nicholas is in pink. They’re ready to “clock in” for Dynamite, and they step inside the building. Renee Paquette is right there and she welcomes them to Huntsville. Tonight is Sting’s final Dynamite ahead of their match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Revolution. Last time she saw them, it seemed they were having an interesting business meeting with Ric Flair. Can they give any details about that? Well, it went great, and that is all Nick will say. Matt brings up Sting and asks if Renee has seen him yet. Not yet, just them.

Oh, okay, then since this is Sting’s final Dynamite appearance, The Bucks are just dying to see him and thank him for all his contributions to this company. And mostly, they want to… “conduct his exit interview.” Matt & Nick bring out the white baseball bats, the same ones they used to beat down Sting, Darby and Sting’s two sons just a few weeks ago. Matt says have a great night, let’s have a killer show. Cameraman, keep with them, so everyone can see what the Bucks are gonna do for Sting. The Bucks continue deeper backstage, will they make it so Sting doesn’t even make it to his retirement match?

Six Man Tag: Eddie Kingston & FTR VS Blackpool Combat Club!

Before all of their separate showdowns on Sunday, The Mad King teams with the Top Guys to take on Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli. Things have always been personal between Eddie and the American Dragon, and things have been getting more intense between Dax & Cash against the Maniac and the Swiss Superman. Just how wild will it get here, only days away from Revolution?

The trios sort out and Bryan starts against Eddie as a preview of their Continental Crown Championship match. The two feel things out as the fans rally up, and the two test the waters. The fans rally behind Eddie but Bryan is simply amused. Then Bryan tags out to Claudio! Well Eddie doesn’t like him much, either! Claudio RAMS Eddie, Eddie stays up and dares him to try again. Claudio runs, they RAM shoulders again, so now Eddie runs. Eddie RAMS Claudio, Claudio rebounds to RAM Eddie! Eddie rebounds but into an UPPERCUT! Eddie goes to a corner, Claudio runs in, but Eddie BOOTS him away!

Moxley drags Cash up, tags Claudio, and they mug Cash.

Claudio stomps away on Cash in the corner, soaks up the heat, and Dynamite returns to single picture. Tag to Bryan, he drags Cash to turn him over and hook up the legs. Cash reaches out but Bryan grabs the arms. Bryan tags Moxley before he hoists Cash up, up and away, but not into the Romero Special! He has Cash up in a partial surfboard, for Moxley to JAB! Cash flops over, Moxley covers, TWO! The fans rally but Moxley drags Cash around. Moxley steps through, Cash fights but Moxley still has the INDIAN DEATHLOCK! Cash endures but his shoulders are down for a cover! ONE, but Moxley puts more pressure on the legs!

Cash endures, throws hands, but Moxley digs his boot into the knee. Cash falls back, it’s a cover again, ONE! Dax storms in to STOMP Moxley! The fans fire up and Moxley is up in a huff. Moxley brings Cash up to whip him but Cash KICKS back! Cash leaps, but Moxley catches him! Moxley throws Cash to ropes but Cash BOOTS back! Claudio runs up but Cash HOTSHOTS him, then RANAS Moxley! But Bryan says he’s gonna kick Eddie’s head in! Bryan grabs the arms, for the DRAGON STOMPS! Then Bryan shifts into the TRIANGLE HOLD! No hands a la Zack Sabre Jr, but Eddie is OUT all the same! BCC wins!

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club, by submission

Bryan doesn’t let go until he’s done talking trash on Eddie. Bryan lets off to pose, but will he be posing with three championships after Revolution? Will Moxley & Claudio prove they are the top guys in the AEW Tag Division?

Backstage interview with Chris Jericho.

Renee Paquette is with The Ocho, or rather the Lionheart, as tonight, Jericho will face Atlantis Jr. of CMLL. There is a ton of history here between Jericho and the Atlantis lucha family, what is he expecting tonight? Jericho says 30 years ago, when he first started wrestling in Mexico, he got thrown into the deep end very quickly. Legendary booker, Paco Alonso wanted Jericho to become a big time player fast. So he put Jericho with legends like Negro Casas, Silver King, Texano, El Dandy, and Atlantis Sr. Atlantis was both a great opponent and a great partner, a mentor and a friend.

So when AEW started working with CMLL, Jericho requested this match with Atlantis Jr. so he could repay the favor. Jericho wants to teach Atlantis Jr. something about the wrestling business from this end. So tonight, Jericho will show Atlantis Jr. some things he’s never seen before, and have a lesson in violence! Tonight, Jericho shows what “Corazon de Leon” can do. And in Spanish, Jericho tells Atlantis Jr. that tonight, there won’t be any holding back. Will El Ocho prove he is numero uno?

Tony Schiavone is in the ring.

AEW returns from break and Schiavone says tonight, it is official. There are great wrestlers all around the world, and many are coming here to AEW. But none is bigger, better or more exciting. Here on Dynamite, welcome to AEW full time, Will Ospreay! The fans fire up as the Aerial Assassin, having moved on from NJPW, is truly All Elite! Ospreay goes to the ring, high-fiving fans, and he even hugs Schiavone. Schiavone says the dynamic Ospreay is All Elite, and it’s great to have him here! Ospreay says, “Oi oi, Huntsville, how’re you doing, you cheeky shanks?” The fans cheer and Ospreay says he just wanted to come out here to say thanks for the reception.

Ospreay reminds us that back in November, he asked them to give him some time to finish his obligations with NJPW. His obligations are done! So he took himself to Barbados for a little holiday, got pissed with the Misses, it was great! And then he flew over here, lost his bags, but it’s alright! They found ’em so it’s all good. He came here in his track suit, like Kermit the Frog on leg day, and most importantly, he is here in front of all the fans to say he is here for full-time work! He’s All Elite, bruv! The fans fire up for that one! Ospreay says hold on, some are forgetting that this isn’t his first rodeo. His first PPV, he beat Orange Cassidy.

And if that wasn’t good enough, he went to Canada to beat Kenny Omega in front of 13 THOUSAND of his own people. And if that still wasn’t good enough, he pinned the first-ever AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho, at Wembley Stadium, bruv! So make no mistake about it. The territory might be different, but he’s used to this. He’s been rolling with the Callis Family, everything’s going smoothly, he is ready to pick up where he left off. Speaking of, here comes Don Callis and his family, the Last Supper mural still including Will Ospreay & Kyle Fletcher while Konosuke Takeshita & Will Hobbs are here in person.

Callis shakes hands and hugs it out with Ospreay, as does Hobbs. Konosuke doesn’t, though, given the match that’s coming. Callis takes the mic from Schiavone to say, “Y’know, ladies and gentlemen, there’s nothing I like more than a Don Callis Family reunion!” Fans boo but Callis says when he thinks about the talent in this group, he thinks about Fletcher, Hobbs, Konosuke & Ospreay, an embarrassment of riches! And Callis loves Ospreay talking about all those things the two of them accomplished together. When Ospreay beat Kenny, Callis was right beside him. Ospreay asked how they were gonna top that, and then we got Ospreay VS Jericho!

And on the biggest night of Ospreay’s life, he beat Jericho! So how to top that? Well, by having a match of the year! The fans chant “You Suck!” at Callis but Callis says you top Ospreay VS Jericho by having a match of the DECADE! And in order to do that, you need the two best rope-to-rope wrestlers in the world! The Alpha, Konosuke Takeshita, and Will BAH GAWD Ospreay! And people ask Callis, how can you pit the family against each other? Well, it’d be like when Michal Jordan and Scotty Pippen would go hard against each other in practice, then come together to win championships!

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter which one wins at Revolution! The real winner after will be the Don Callis Family! Now, shake hands, guys, this will be historic! Konosuke and Ospreay stare down, and Ospreay offers first. Konosuke looks at Ospreay’s hand, then takes it. They shake, the fans boo, but Konosuke doesn’t let Ospreay go. Konosuke wants Ospreay to look him in the eye, then he pats Ospreay on the shoulder. But then Ospreay doesn’t let go! Ospreay won’t let Konosuke big brother him just because Ospreay just got back. The fans rally behind Ospreay, Callis joins in by trying, and failing, to make it a dueling chant.

Ospreay and Konosuke step back, and Ospreay smiles as he bows respect to Konosuke. Will the Don Callis Family really be okay after The Alpha and the Assassin fight it out?

Backstage interview with Eddie Kingston.

Renee is now with the Mad King, and notes the disrespect shown not only to him but this entire time leading up to the match with Bryan at Revolution, how concerned is Eddie to be facing this version of Bryan? Eddie starts but then The Bucks walk in asking if Eddie’s seen Sting. What? No, he hasn’t. The Bucks then realize they’re interrupting an interview. Sorry, take it from the top. No, this is life. Oh, oops, never mind. But then Nick says he has a bone to pick with Eddie anyway. All that crap Eddie was saying on Collision, next time it’ll be a fine! Matt has Nick cool down and apologizes for him.

But while Matt has Eddie, mind if he talks with him for a second? Eddie asks what these two are even doing, but Matt says hold on. Eddie is a champion, y’know. He should work on his presentation a little. He shows up to work with Timbs and sweats? Where’s his sports coat or something? Matt asks Nick if they need to implement a dress code backstage. But no, sorry, they’re still looking for Sting, so carry on. The Bucks go shouting for “Stinger” again, and Renee says she had a point about the Louis Vuitton Timbs. Seriously? Eddie doesn’t get what is going on with the EVPs, but will he be more than ready for Sunday?

Backstage interview with The Bang Bang Scissor Gang.

Renee is with Jay White, The Gunns, Max Caster & Anthony Bowens, and she notes the impressive win on Collision against Iron Savages. It seems they’re gelling as a group now. Oh, she saw that? White agrees, they are gelling. And to be honest, he was a little apprehensive at first, had their wires crossed a couple weeks ago on Dynamite. But after Collision, they’ve shown just how well they can work together, and White is all in on BBSG! They are damn near perfect! Aren’t they, Billy? Yeah, almost. But Max, what happened to your rap? You think anyone noticed? Uh, yeah, man, everyone noticed.

But Austin says he has an idea. Speaking of combos within the group, how about this? Austin Gunn & The Acclaimed for Collision! Bowens says that’s silly. But what about The Acclaimed & Austin? YES! Everyone loves it! Austin is confused, though, isn’t that just the same but said different? White moves on by saying EVERYONE loves The Acclaimed, BANG BANG! Bowens says he got it! They scissor finger, but will Austin, Max & Anthony make it a win just like the other half of the super group?

Willow is disappointed, but in Stokely, not Kris. Stokely wanted to go hardcore but this wasn’t the time, and now Kris suffers the loss. If The House Always Wins, will anyone ever get that title off Julia?

The Young Bucks are continuing their hunt of Sting.

Nicholas has the cameraman follow them to the door with Sting’s name on it. But Matthew wants Nicholas to hold on. Did Nick see the interview last week? Sting seemed a little… out of his mind with anger. So if there’s one thing for sure about Sting, it’s that nothing’s for sure. So just be mindful. Nick’s prepared! Let’s go! They step in, and the room is just a bunch of black baseball bats dangling from the ceiling. Oh, they’re playing mind games, huh? Nick smacks his bat off the chair, but where, oh where, could the Stinger Man be?

Chris Jericho VS Atlantis Jr. w/ Atlantis Sr!

The Ocho promised it’d be the Lionheart tonight, and he is ready to give us a blast from the past as he faces the future of CMLL. Will Jericho return the favor from Atlantis Sr. and teach Atlantis Jr. a thing or two about a thing or two? Or will the World Historic Light Heavyweight Champion show he already knows what it takes to succeed?

The bell rings and the two circle. The fans rally up, Atlantis offers a handshake, but Jericho SLAPS him! Jericho already said earlier there would be no going easy just because they’re friendly. So Atlantis SLAPS back! They throw hands faster and faster and then Jericho knees low! Jericho CHOPS and CHOPS then whips, but Atlantis reverses. Atlantis endures, and he has the ROPEBREAK! Jericho lets go quickly, then he CLUBS away on Atlantis. Jericho pulls at the mask!? There’s no holding back and then there’s just being disrespectful! The ref reprimands, Jericho stops and Atlantis throws hands!

Atlantis kicks Jericho away, the ref helps with the strings, and then Atlantis Senior CHOKES Jericho with the towel! The fans cheer as Atlantis teaches Jericho another lesson even now! Jericho bails out to argue with Atlantis Sr, but then Junior DIVES onto him! The fans fire up as Atlantis Jr. gets Jericho up and around to SMACK him off the apron! Atlantis gets the legs, to CATAPULT Jericho into the POST! The fans fire up as Atlantis rises, and he brings steel steps around! The ref reprimands but Atlantis brings Jericho around. Atlantis reels Jericho in, gets him up, but Jericho fights it! So Senior helps out, and Atlantis has Jericho up!

But Jericho RANAS and sends Atlantis into the steps! The fans are torn while Senior checks on Junior, and Dynamite goes picture in picture.

Jericho storms over, he drags Atlantis around to SMACK him off the steps! Jericho puts Atlantis in the ring, kicks him around, then soaks up the cheers and jeers. Jericho drags Atlantis up again, CHOPS him, and has him in the corner. Jericho CHOPS again, and CHOPS again! Jericho whips corner to corner, runs in and clotheslines! Jericho puts Atlantis up top, throws hands, then climbs up after him. Jericho brings Atlantis up to the very top, but Atlantis resists! Atlantis SUPER GOURD BUSTERS Jericho down! Atlantis adjusts to FROG SPLASH! Cover, TWO!! Jericho survives and Atlantis can’t believe it!

Atlantis and Jericho rise, and Jericho CHOPS first! Atlantis CHOPS back! Atlantis eggs Jericho on so Jericho CHOPS again! Atlantis CHOPS again! The CHOPS go back and forth, then Jericho gets the edge! But Atlantis CHOPS and CHOPS in return! Atlantis puts Jericho on the ropes, and puts some stank on the CHOP! Dynamite returns to single picture as the fans want “One More Time!” Atlantis gets the fans fired up, and winds up to CHOP again! Atlantis whips but Jericho runs him over! Jericho keeps moving, but Atlantis puts him on the apron! Jericho hurries up a corner, but Atlantis meets him there! SUPER ARM-DRAG!

Atlantis drags Jericho to a drop zone, goes up a corner, but Jericho rises! Jericho CHOPS Atlantis, then goes up after him. Jericho comes in from the side, SUPER BULLDOG!! That’s definitely old school for Jericho! He covers, TWO!! Atlantis survives and now Jericho grows frustrated.

Jericho drags Atlantis up to CHOP more. Jericho whips corner to corner, runs up but Atlantis goes up and over! Then he SNAP POWERSLAMS! Cover, TWO! Jericho stays in this but Senior coaches Junior up. Atlantis SUPERKICKS Jericho, runs, but Jericho BOOTS him! Atlantis falls to the apron, Jericho runs to the corner, triangle jump, but Atlantis ducks! Jericho goes right to the floor! Atlantis builds speed and he FLIES! Direct hit on Jericho at the ramp and the fans fire up again! Atlantis rises, he gets Jericho into the ring. “This is Awesome!” as Atlantis goes up the corner. Jericho is in the drop zone, but he rises up to trip Atlantis!

Atlantis is stuck on the corner, Jericho brings him up for haymakers! Jericho then makes sure Atlantis is positioned just right, CHOPS him, but Atlantis fires forearms! Jericho CHOPS again, climbs up to the very top, and he rains down fists! Fans count along, all the way to TEN! SUPER STEINER! Jericho fires up, takes aim, and Atlantis rises. JUDAS- NO, Atlantis ducks it! Then he scoops Jericho, into LA ATLANTITA! Jericho endures the backbreaker rack, and then the spin and swing, but Jericho lands out! Jericho trips Atlantis, WALLS OF JERICHO!! Atlantis endures, reaches out, crawls forward, and his dad coaches him on!

Atlantis reaches, he’s fingertips away! But Jericho drags him away!! Jericho sits deep! Senior throws in the towel!! Jericho wins!

Winner: Chris Jericho, by forfeit

The Lionheart wins, and perhaps the lesson here was knowing when to give up for the sake of your career. Jericho checks on Junior and helps him up. There is still respect between Jericho and the Atlantis familia, will Junior still be the future of CMLL?

BREAKING NEWS for Revolution!

After the big win here tonight, Jericho is now part of the All-Star 8 Man Scramble! He joins “Powerhouse” Hobbs, Lance Archer, Brian Cage, Hook, Wardlow, and two more opponents! Those last two spots will be filled in qualifying matches to be held this weekend! CMLL’s Magnus takes on Matt Sydal for Rampage while a Triple Threat on Collision sees Penta El Zero Miedo VS Dante Martin VS Bryan Keith! Who will join the huge match that grants the winner a future AEW World Championship opportunity?

BREAKING NEWS for Collision!

Just 24 hours before Revolution, we hear from Toni Storm and Deonna Purrazzo ahead of their AEW Women’s World Championship, and we get a star-studded 8 Man Tag! Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, Hook & Daniel Garcia take on Roderick Strong, Brian Cage, Christian Cage & Killswitch/Luchasaurus! Who will have major momentum going into the title matches going into Revolution?

The Young Bucks make their way to the ring.

Since they didn’t find Sting backstage anywhere, it seems only logical they come out here to finish the search. There are fans wearing Sting masks, so Nick gets in their face. Is one of them Sting playing the hold “Sting wearing a Sting mask” gag? No but DARBY is! Darby DECKS Nick and fires off on the Bucks! Darby puts Nick in the ring but Matt anchors him! Nick PENALTY KICKS from above! The fans rally for Darby but the Bucks mug him back! They put Darby in the ring, get their bats, and it’s just like the night Darby & Sting won the tag titles! Matt CHOKES Darby, Nick throws off his jacket, and The Bucks sit Darby up.

Fans boo but the Bucks want, and hit the E V P TRIGGER!! Darby goes down, Matt JAMS Darby with the bat! Nick stomps Darby, too! The fans boo but the Bucks just soak it up. Then Matt calls for someone? Ric Flair is here?! The Nature Boy smiles as he struts his way down the ramp, but has he really betrayed Sting? Matt & Nick mug Darby more while Ric takes his time getting to the ring. Ric takes one of the bats, but then he pokes Nick in the eye and JABS Matt! The Nature Boy tricked the Bucks and has them right where he wants ’em! Except Nick LOW BLOWS Ric! Fans boo as Ric falls in a heap!

The Bucks are upset that the Dirtiest Player in the Game actually pulled one over on them, and they dig their boots in! The fans boo, then they call for “STING! STING! STING!” The Bucks soak up the heat, just hoping Sting shows up. But then the music hits and the Bucks get on the defensive! They hurry up the ramp with their bats, but where is he? Sting is lowered in from the rafters!! The fans are thunderous as we flashback to the early days of Crow Sting, and the Bucks can’t believe what they’ve just seen! The Bucks run back up, but bats collide and the Bucks are disarmed! Sting JAMS Matt, JAMS Nick, then CRACKS them with bats!

The fans fire up as Darby goes up and SUPER COFFIN DROPS onto both Bucks!! Darby gets Nick in the ring, Sting storms right in after him! Sting gets Nick for the SCORPION DEATH DROP! Darby slides in and Ric stands back up. The fans howl into the night with these icons, but Matt says they’re gonna come up with a “real nice severance package” for Sting. Will Sting’s last match be his most agonizing defeat? Or will it be his most triumphant victory?

My Thoughts:

A great Dynamite, and I really like how this flowed with just four matches. Granted, this format might just be because this is the go-home with plenty of more to do on Rampage and Collision, but AEW/Tony Khan should still try to book it like this more often. Hangman tricking us with the ankle was clever stuff to sucker Swerve in, but Swerve also owned up to doing messed up stuff so… I guess there isn’t really a Face in the match at all? Just Joe, Hangman and Swerve all being mean and badass, though Hangman is much more Heel right now because he tricked us. Either way, this still keeps everyone strong regardless of who wins, but at this point, the fans are strongly behind Swerve so it’s either Swerve or Joe winning.

Good group promo from Bang Bang Scissor Gang, and I like that they poked a little fun at Caster’s flub. And it’s a fitting move to do the flipside of last week’s mash-up, and it just seems to be the story that Austin gets dunked on by everybody else. As I said for last Saturday, it’d be a shame if BBSG came together just to break up and feud when we’ve basically seen that, but at this point, they haven’t even bothered feuding with other champions yet. We got a really good International Championship match from Cassidy VS Nick with all the overbooking to plug the different title stories, and we might even get Roppongi Vice VS Taven & Bennett for the ROH Tag titles at some point.

Really good stuff from Ospreay and the Don Callis Family, and naturally, there is tension between Ospreay and Konosuke already. Callis is too sure of himself, this match is of course tearing Ospreay away from the faction, and I personally still hope Kyle Fletcher joins him because they’re United Empire brothers. Awesome opening Six Man Tag for Eddie & FTR VS BCC, but BCC winning makes sense. There’s still a very good chance Eddie beats Bryan 1v1 to retain the Triple Crown, which is why Bryan got the win on Eddie right here. FTR VS Mox & Claudio could still go either way, but I’m leaning towards FTR so they can challenge for the tag championships past Revolution.

Really good match from Kris VS Skye, but what in the world is Stokely thinking? He’s teamed with two Faces and he’s trying to Heel it up, and that cost Kris. This is gonna lead to Stokely getting slapped around instead of him breaking Kris and Willow up. But there isn’t much time anymore, so I guess we’re not getting a TBS Championship build for Revolution. Maybe for Big Business in Boston in a couple weeks? It would be fitting if someone faces Julia for the title, and regardless of who wins, out comes Mercedes Mone for the huge homecoming moment, and she immediately sets herself up for a TBS Championship match for Double or Nothing.

Really good promo from Jericho, though I wish I knew more Spanish so I could understand the rest of that last line. But great match from Jericho with Atlantis Jr, though I am a touch surprised Jericho won. But hey, Atlantis Jr. looked great, he’s still a champion in CMLL and is going on quite the run over there, we can only hope AEW and CMLL are able to keep this working relationship going. News came out that there’s some travel visa issues for many different big names, let’s hope it doesn’t force AEW and CMLL to delay whatever Forbidden Door type thing they were working on.

And it seems one thing that did have to be delayed is that Meat Madness match. It was said by Tony Khan himself that document issues, along with some injuries, limited their choices for the big match of big meaty men, so now the All-Star Scramble happens instead. That’ll still be awesome stuff, and if it’s about a future world title shot, you can bet Hobbs or Wardlow comes out on top with this. Wardlow especially given that heated promo he gave last week and how it’ll feed into the Undisputed Kingdom story. If Adam Cole is gonna force Wardlow to hand over the world title, then Wardlow needs to have the world title in the first place.

And really good stuff to feed into Sting’s last Dynamite segment. The Bucks being on the hunt all night was an interesting way to keep us intrigued throughout the show, and you gotta appreciate Matt being the levelheaded one to foil against Nick being the hothead, to where Matt didn’t just barge into Sting’s room just in case. Sting dropping in from the rafters surprised me, also kinda scared me, but it was an awesome move to do that for his final TV appearance as it hearkens back to some of his best stuff in WCW.

Ric Flair tricking the Bucks was a good detail, though I’m surprised they didn’t save this for Revolution, but I suppose that would’ve only been the case if Sting & Darby were winning. I’ve been saying The Bucks are winning to get all that heat on themselves, the math would indicate that, but hey, maybe Sting gets to defy such math and tradition because of how he is so iconic and beloved in pro-wrestling.

My Score: 8.9/10

Ilja Dragunov is here!

The NXT Champion heads to the ring and the fans are all fired up, because the Mad Dragon is not going to wait any longer! “Carmelo Hayes! You disgusting rodent of a man! Let’s go!! I’m not in the mood to wait around all night. This is Stand & Deliver season!” The fans fire up for that! Dragunov says what did Melo say last week? That if this isn’t about the NXT Championship, there’s nothing to talk about? What Melo is looking for is right here. So come on out of your little hiding place, and let’s talk about it. Melo makes his entrance and the fans boo, and now security moves in to be a wall between Dragunov and HIM.

Melo has a mic of his own to say, “Ilja, you the NXT Champion, for now. But you ain’t the superstar that make this brand go, I am. And it’s been that way since I stepped on the scene with that ruthless aggression. Y’see this right here, Ilja? This security. They’re Melo’s security. And they’re here to do whatever it is I need them to do. Look at you. You still pissed off that I used you, huh, Ilja? That I made Trick doubt the Great Ilja Dragunov, with your custom suits, so honorable and all your integrity. Ugh, you make me sick.” Fans boo and tell Melo to “Shut The Hell Up!” Melo says he can tell Dragunov is spiteful.

Dragunov says after what Melo did, he is damn right about Dragunov! And that is why Melo isn’t stepping in that ring with him. Not until he sees a contract and Ava makes this official. Because, Ilja, losing that NXT Championship is your biggest fear. And Melo knows Ilja isn’t the type to try and take Melo out before the match. So go ahead, get it all in order, and then they can talk business. Fans boo more but Melo says Dragunov has until the end of the night. Dragunov drops the mic, rushes up, and he CLOBBERS security guard after security guard! Melo falls back, the remaining guards form a circle around him.

Dragunov stays back, he raises the belt, but will Melo still get what he wants?

NXT Media catches up with Ava Raine.

Just before the show began, reporters asked the NXT General Manager about the big show planned tonight. Yes, this is a big lead-up to Stand & Deliver. Then she spots Gigi Dolin and asks what’s up. Gigi says she just wanted to talk about what’s next for herself. Absolute, this is a competitive Women’s Division, they can definitely talk it out. Awesome! They went to Ava’s office, where Jaida Parker was already waiting. How’d she get in here? Jaida says she had a key. Now, no disrespect, but they gotta talk about Jaida’s future. She ran through Rizzo, and- Gigi says great win, yeah. But Gigi’s meeting was first, line starts behind her.

Jaida says she doesn’t wait in any lines, and especially not behind Gigi. Gigi says Jaida should learn who she’s talking to. Hold on, World Star’s never mentioned Gigi. Well, she’ll give them something to talk about then. Ava has them both stop. They’re not gonna World Star in here. What’s next for both of them will be each other. So now they can leave, starting with Jaida. Jaida heads out, will she be making World Star news after getting toxic with Gigi?

The Izzi insurance policy strikes again! Will nothing stop these two in their hostile takeover of NXT?

NXT shares footage from after last week’s show.

Roxanne Perez was still seething over someone else swooping in and getting a title shot before her. Last time was Tatum and Lola, this time was Shotzi and Lash Legend! Is the universe just against her? And leave the broken TV where it is, it doesn’t matter! But Jakara says, “Check, please.” This is just how a superstar operates. Lash Legend stays ready so she ain’t gotta get ready. That’s something Roxie needs to understand. Roxie says Lash was just in the right place at the right time. Unlike Jakara right now. Oh, whatever, you lost, just go- Roxie fires off on Jakara! The rest of the locker room rushes in, but this explains tonight’s match. Will Roxie’s wrath wreck Miss Jackson?

The Good Brothers VS Malik Blade & Edris Enofe!

In a shocking return last week, Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows ran in, wrecked some top teams in NXT, and then staked their claim to the top spot! Will the Machine Gun and Big LG make NXT Too Sweet? Or will they learn Malik & Edris are far from rookies?

NXT returns as Malik & Edris make their entrance. The teams sort out and Malik starts against Karl. Karl kicks low, bumps Malik off buckles, then fires off haymakers. The ref counts but Karl stomps away until 4. The fans fire up, Karl talks some smack on Malik, then storms back up. Karl whips Malik to ropes, but Malik ducks ‘n’ dodges, cartwheels and DROPKICKS! The fans fire up for “Malik! Da Freak!” as he wrenches and brings Karl over. Tag to Edris, they double whip Karl to ropes, then double drop toehold! Then they DOUBLE DROPKICK! Gallows gets in but he gets DOUBLE DROPKICKS, too!

The ref reprimands and Gallows bails out. Edris runs at Karl but Karl UPPERCUTS him away! Then UPPERCUTS him again! Karl whips, Edris goes up and over and keeps moving, to RANA Karl away! Karl flounders, Edris runs up to CHOP! Tag to Malik, he and Edris double whip Karl again. Double shoulders knock Karl down, then Malik sets up so Edris can run and POMMEL HORSE SPLASH! Edris sets up now and Malik runs, step-up ELBOW DROP! The fans fire up for the combo moves and Malik brings Karl around. Gallows shouts at Malik and that’s a distraction enough for Karl to pull Malik’s ear!

Karl puts Malik in the corner, tags Gallows, and the Good Brothers mug Malik! The ref counts, the Good Brothers let off and Karl eggs Edris on. Gallows digs his boot in, stands on Malik, then lets off. Gallows brings Malik up, suplexes and puts him on the ropes, to then run and BOOT Malik down! The fans are torn as Big LG drags Malik up. Malik throws body shots but Gallows UPPERCUTS! Malik sits back, only for Gallows to rain down elbows! Gallows clamps on a chinlock and he grinds Malik down. The fans rally as Malik endures and fights up. Malik throws body shots, but Gallows HEADBUTTS him down!

Gallows puts Malik in the corner to fire body shots, then he UPPERCUTS! Malik sits right down and the fans fire up. Gallows stomps Malik, tags Karl, and Karl stomps Malik. Karl clamps on a chinlock and he grinds Malik into the mat. Malik endures, the fans rally up, and Malik fights to his feet. Malik throws elbows but Karl CLUBS Malik. Karl reels Malik in for a back suplex, but Malik lands out of it! Malik sunset flips Karl, TWO! Karl stands up but Malik dodges him, hot tag to Edris! Edris dodges Karl to BLAST Gallows! Edris rallies on Karl with big clotheslines, then he runs to SLING-DOG! Gallows runs in, Malik & Edris DUMP him back out!

Edris kicks Karl, reels him in, JACKHAMMER! Malik LEAPS at Gallows, but Gallows catches him! Gallows SHOVES Malik into steel steps! Edris BOOTS Gallows from the apron! Edris then climbs, aims at Karl, 450- NO, Edris has to roll through as Karl moves! Karl comes back to SPINEBUSTER! Tag to Gallows and the Good Brothers get Edris up. MAGIC KILLER!! Cover, Good Brothers win!

Winners: The Good Brothers, by pinfall

But before the celebration can begin, Chase U is here! Andre Chase says if the Good Brothers wanna interrupt a Chase U victory, then they’re gonna learn that karma’s a bitch! Duke Hudson says Gallows & Anderson aren’t the first team to come into NXT thinking they can just do what they want. But this time, Chase U’s backs aren’t turned. And y’know what that calls for, Mr. Chase? Oh, yes. These two deserve an Andre Chase University sized- WAIT! Axiom & Nathan Frazer storm out here! Frazer says here we go again. Mr. Chase, Duke, congrats on being #1 contenders. But when it comes to Gallows & Anderson, Axiom & Frazer have next.

Good Brothers wanna jump people from behind? Well, at least when a team like LWO shows up to NXT, they confront people to their face. Axiom adds that he and Frazer have no problem dealing with Good Brothers. Duke says not if Chase U gets them first. But then speaking of LWO! Cruz & Wilde are up top, they DOUBLE MISSILE DROPKICK the Good Brothers! And all the teams go after Gallows & Anderson! Gallows & Anderson bail out, and then we see the Wolf Dogs watching from the perch! The NXT Tag Team Champions are very amused at all the teams fighting each other, but will they be ready for when Chase U looks to be a Roadblock next week?

Ava Raine is on the phone.

She confirms to whoever this is, that there will be some big title matches for Roadblock, it will be a great show. Someone walks in, and it’s Oba Femi! Ava excuses herself from the call and asks what’s up. Oba wants to know who is his next “victim.” Ava says she is figuring that out because there are many guys who’d love a shot at the North American Championship. Oba says they might say that now, but when they get in the ring with him, they will regret those words. But then in steps Ilja! Champion stares down champion, and Oba smiles before he leaves. Dragunov says he and Ava need to talk. Is The Czar going to acquiesce to Melo’s demands?

Roxanne Perez VS Jakara Jackson w/ Lash Legend!

We saw how this match came about, now we’re gonna see how it goes! Will The Prodigy use her new edge to cut down one of the Meta Four? Or will her anger get the better of her this close to Stand & Deliver?

NXT returns as Jakara makes her entrance, Lash right by her side. The bell rings and the two rush in! Roxie hits a THESZ PRESS and fast hands! Jakara gets away, goes out, but Roxie runs up! Lash gets Jakara away so Roxie stops herself. Roxie rushes out there but Lash stands in the way. Jakara runs up but Roxie avoids the sucker punch to ROCK Jakara! Roxie pushes Jakara in but Jakara kicks back! Lash talks trash and Jakara puts Roxie in. Jakara runs up to DROPKICK Roxie to a corner! Jakara endures, they go around and around, and Roxie CLUBS Jakara down. Roxie hops on, but Lash reaches out to save Jakara! The fans boo, but then the ref EJECTS Lash! Lash protests but she did it in plain sight! Jakara is devastated, but then Roxie goes after her!

Jakara gest around, pulls hair, EDGE-O-MATIC! Cover, TWO! Roxie goes to ropes, Jakara runs up and trips Roxie! Jakara drags Roxie to the apron to CLUB her, then Jakara shoves her back in. Jakara clamps onto Roxie with chicken wings but the fans rally up. Jakara shifts to a motorcycle stretch and she leans back to really pull on the arms! The ref counts as Jakara pulls hair now! Roxie pops free to cover, TWO! Jakara SMACKS Roxie off the mat, she pie faces her around, then stands her up. Roxie SLAPS Jakara! Jakara SLAPS back! Roxie SLAPS again, now it’s a SLAP fight! Roxie gets Jakara good, then fires off body shots!

The fans fire up with Roxie and she whips. Jakara reverses but Roxie CLOBBERS her! Roxie SMACKS Jakara, then SHOTGUNS her down! Roxie kips up, fires up, and she runs in to UPPERCUT in the corner! Roxie wrenches and clinches, RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP! And then CROSSFACE!! Jakara taps, Roxie wins!

Winner: Roxanne Perez, by submission

Roxie lets go and has a sinister smile on her face. Jakara said you say ready so you don’t have to get ready, so is this prove Roxie is ready for one more shot at the title?

Thea Hail talks with Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx.

So Thea talked with Riley. He came crawling back? Men always do. Because the women don’t chase the men, the men chase the women. Right… No. It was the opposite. He was really excited to go on the date with Thea, but then the girl he went out with wasn’t the girl he expected. So he said they’re better off as friends. Wait, what’d he expect? Uh, duh, the happy, energetic, fun-loving Thea. Oh, so the old Thea. Well, sorta. So, the Thea that was a loser? What? No, not this Thea. The old Thea! That Thea was a loser. Well, Fallon- Fallon Henley? She’s a moron! She practically begs people to be her friend!

The Thea that Jacy saw, who desperately needed help in her Chase U shirt and uncontrollable energy? Trust Jacy, Thea is much better off. What about Duke & Chase? They’re losers! They’re all losers! If not for Jacy, Chase U would be gone. True… But then in walks Kiana & Izzi. Kiana compliments Jacy on the calendars. Didn’t they sell out three times already? Thank you! Someone gets it! Jacy tells Kiana that Thea wanted to actually take advice from Fallon. Pfft, Fallon? Really? They all laugh and say Fallon is the last person to listen to on anything. Agreed. So, tell Kiana more about the calendar.

Jacy & Jazmyn leave with Kiana & Izzi, and Thea sighs. A loser? Seriously? Is Thea starting to see Jacy’s true colors aren’t Chase U black and red?

The Wolf Dogs are backstage.

Bron Breakker is talking to Baron Corbin about spicing up the jacket. Bron has an airbrush guy, they can do something about this. Corbin doesn’t care, this isn’t Spring Break 99, he’s not spray-painting his jacket. Okay, okay, fine. Maybe just put some tanner on his pasty face then. The Good Brothers walk by and Corbin asks if they had a rough night. The tag division’s got some depth, huh? Karl says look, it’s Corbin acting like he loves this place. Corbin says they got jokes. NXT reinvigorated Corbin’s career! Reinvigorated! Corbin’s back to kicking asses. Back to kicking asses! And he won these tag titles all by himself! All by him-

Wait. Corbin, c’mon, stop messing around. Corbin tells Bron he’s just messing around, Mr. SmackDown. That was a really good Spear from Bron last Friday, right? Gallows says these are the NXT Tag Team Champions? Then this is gonna be easier than they thought. Karl agrees, and while the Dogs have their jokes, it stoked a flame inside the Good Brothers that’s been gone a long time. See, Good Brothers came here like Corbin did eight months ago. And he doesn’t like that, because he knows it won’t take them that long to become NXT Tag Team Champions. Corbin says last week, they said Corbin was a comedian.

But what’s really funny is the sound Karl’s face made when AJ Styles slapped him across the mouth. Bron adds an “OHHH~!” Karl says then you go ahead and try something. Gallows says not yet. Bron says between the four of them, yeah it’s a good time, he and Corbin make jokes. But when the bell rings, the dogs come out, and they destroy everyone. Good catchphrase. Let’s see if the dogs get past Chase U. And if they do, Good Brothers will be waiting. Is The OC ready to Stand & Deliver?

DIJAK VS Luca Crusifino!

#HardJustice and the Legal Eagle had a… disagreement on how to treat Joe Gacy. Luca believes no one is above the law, but Dijak says he IS the law! Cliche as that may sound, will Dijak prove to Luca that might makes right? Or will Luca bring Dijak to true justice?

NXT returns and Luca makes his entrance. The bell rings and the two tie up. Dijak knees low, then ROCKS Luca! Luca staggers, Dijak talks trash but Luca fires off body shots and haymakers! Luca CLUBS Dijak, swings more, but Dijak pulls hair! Luca avoids the haymaker to clothesline Dijak up and out! Luca runs to WRECK Dijak, and Dijak tumbles up and over the desk!! The fans fire up and Luca gets Dijak in. But he can’t lift Dijak! Dijak throws hands, Luca hits back, the fans fire up. Luca runs up but Dijak ELBOWS him! Dijak goes up, leaps, but into an UPPERCUT! Luca runs corner to corner to CANNONBALL!

The fans fire up with Luca, and he drags Dijak up. Dijak still fights the back suplex, throws more hands and then CLUBS Luca down. Luca clutches his back but Dijak stomps him. Dijak stalks Luca to a corner, then throws elbow after elbow! The ref counts, Dijak CLUBS Luca in the chest. Dijak stands Luca back up, and CHOPS! Luca screams in pain and the fans “WOO~!” Dijak says how’s that? He CHOPS and CHOPS and CHOPS! Luca CHOPS and CHOPS and CHOPS! They fire hands, Dijak SUPERKICKS Luca back! The fans are thunderous as Dijak reels Luca, TIME TO- NO, Luca slips free! And he back suplexes! Only for Dijak to land out and LARIAT!

The fans fire up while both men rise. Dijak choke grips, but Luca fights with elbows and a LARIAT! And another LARIAT! Dijak stays up, so Luca runs to LARIAT! Dijak is still up, so Luca runs again! LARIAT! Dijak swings, Luca gets around, BIG back suplex! The fans fire up while both men are down again. Luca roars, runs corner to corner, and clotheslines in the corner! Luca keeps moving, but the CYCLONE BOOT finds him! Dijak roars, drags Luca up and torture racks, FEAST YOUR EYES! Cover, Dijak wins!

Winner: Dijak, by pinfall

Hard Justice might have won out, but Luca put up a hell of a fight! And wait! Here comes Joe Gacy! He is tearing free of the straitjacket! Dijak is furious, he shouts at Gacy, and Luca finds Tony D’Angelo’s crowbar?! Luca CLOBBERS Dijak, and then Gacy goes after Dijak! Gacy CLUBS away, sending Dijak to the back! And as for Luca, well, the D’Angelo Family is watching backstage. The Don confirms with Stacks and Rizzo, he saw what we all saw. Tony tells Stacks to go get Luca. Right now? No, Tony has bigger business to handle. Then Stacks can go get him. Stacks says, “You got it, boss.” Does Tony mean all this in a good way or a bad way?

Backstage interview with Noam Dar & Oro Mensah.

Kelly Kincaid spooks Supernova 11 while he was drinking, and he says don’t do that! He has PTSD from the sneak attack by Von & Stone! She doesn’t even care! Kelly apologizes, and then asks that the Catch Clause means he could be facing anyone from the No Quarter Catch Crew. Who would Dar prefer to face tonight? Dar says Meta Four is ready for anything. Tonight, Jakara took Roxie to her limit, Lash had two matches in one night, and in the second one, with no preparation, she nearly won the NXT Women’s Championship. Kelly, who is doing it like them? NOBODY~! Dar & Oro high-five.

Dar says Catch Clause this, Catch Clause that, it can be Papa Gulak, Uncle Mullet, it can be… Uh, who’s the fourth guy? Oro says just call him “new guy.” It could be the new kid or Charlie the Chocolate Factory. The result remains the same: Meta Four, five trophies, one picture. Check, please! Back to you, Vic & Booker! Dar’s always wanted to do that. But will all the confidence in the world not save Dar from whoever the NQCC is sending his way?

Lyra Valkyria is here!

The Morrigan heads to the ring and the fans cheer. The NXT Women’s Champion gets the mic, and says first thing’s first: We all wish Shotzi a speedy recovery. The fans cheer that, and Lyra wants to make it known that when Shotzi makes it back, Lyra owes her the title shot. And we gotta give Lash her flowers, she showed up, showed out and stepped up. And Lyra still has the battle wounds to prove it. But Lyra promised us she’d still be here the champion, and well, she’s a woman who keeps her promises. And last week, Lyra made Tatum a promise. So trust her, no one is as shocked as Lyra that Tatum held up her end! Time to give her what she’s earned, right?

So then, Tatum, please come out here. The superfan hurries her way out, but from the crowd side! Lyra says of course. But Tatum gets into the ring with Lyra and says it is so good to see her. Lyra, last week was so hard for Tatum. And then Ava Raine came out to issue an open challenge just so someone else can get near her! “My sweet, sweet dove, in danger of losing her title!” Yes, but, Lyra didn’t. And Tatum actually did what she was asked to do. OF COURSE! Because Tatum would do anything for Lyra. And Tatum has proven her devotion for her! Er, uh… She proved she’s a woman of her word. Yes, that she did.

And Lyra did promise Tatum a surprise. So is Tatum ready? Tatum closes her eyes and holds out her hands but Lyra says no, she can keep her eyes open, it’s not like that. Oh, okay. Lyra spoke with Ava, some calls were made, and next week at Roadblock, Lyra & Tatum team together! OMG Tatum knew it! Lyra said it was a one time thing, but Tatum knew that they’d be together forever and ever and- Whoa, whoa, hold on. It is not them teaming as friends. So more than friends? As a team, taking on The Kabuki Warriors for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships! The fans fire up and Tatum can barely speak!

Tatum puts it together. Tatum.. And Lyra… against Asuka & Kairi for the tag titles? But wait! Ridge Holland comes out here now? He apologizes and says he is very happy about their opportunity, and he wishes them the best of luck in becoming champions together. But if they’re finished, then please leave because he has something very important to get off his chest. The fans boo Ridge stepping on Tatum’s moment, but Lyra & Tatum do exit. Ridge says he is a man of action more than he is of words. But it seems his actions as of late have gotten him in this predicament. When he retaliates, it is always Ridge who takes it “too far.”

But whether he likes it or not, whether he understands the bias, he is still here to apologize for all his actions. Fans boo, but Ridge says he was defending himself against Gallus. He was defending his family! There was no true malice behind it. But wait, the lights go out! And then the tron lights up! A voice says, “Truth will ultimately prevail. But there is pain in bringing it to light.” The lights go out again, and then someone is behind Ridge! They SMASH him with a chair! The fans chant “TEN! TEN! TEN!” because yes, it is TYE DILLINGER!! Or rather, Shawn Spears! The Chair Man is in NXT! The fans lose their minds, they didn’t think it was him! Is he going to take NXT to a perfect ten?

Brooks Jensen confronts Oba Femi!

Jensen says if Oba’s still looking for a challenger, then he’s that guy. Oba chuckles and asks if Jensen is sure. Because Jensen seems to be confused. Jensen says Briggs told him to grow some balls, so he put up that fight and busted Briggs up. Now if Oba takes the challenge, Jensen will bust him up! Oba stares Jensen down. Standing up after a fight is one thing, but after Oba is done, Jensen won’t even be able to walk away. Oba heads out, will he be right about his next “victim” soon regretting their decision?

Backstage interview with Carmelo Hayes.

At least, Kelly is hoping to, but security stands in front of the door. But word is, Ava is drafting a contract for a signing later tonight. Security lets Kelly through now, and Kelly asks Melo about earlier tonight. Melo has her stop, and says it is pretty simple. He wants Ilja out there, and Ava with a contract, signed, sealed and delivered. Then all Melo has to do is put his name to paper. But tell Ilja for him, no contract means no Melo. Kelly thanks him for his time, will Ava come through for both sides of the fight?

Von Wagner w/ Robert Stone VS Lexis King!

Though they failed against The Meta Four, Von & Stone are still proud of the fight they put up. However, effort doesn’t matter to The Drama King, only the results. Will Lexis make big bad Von bow down to him? Or will King be thrown off his throne and right through a table?

NXT returns and Von makes his entrance, Suit Man Stone by his side. The bell rings and the two circle. The fans rally, the two tie up, and Von shoves King right down! King gets up but gets thrown again, and again! Von swings, King dodges and CHOPS! Von just frowns, then he CHOPS King down! Von headlocks, King powers up and out, but Von hurdles then runs King over! Von whips King and back drops him! King writhes and the fans fire up! Von drags King up, says we’re going up, and he suplexes King! Stone starts a count for how long King is in the air, and Von goes past TEN to SLAM King at 13!

The fans fire up and Von waits on King. King is in a corner, Von runs up but King dodges! Knee hits buckle, then King dropkicks the knee! Von hobbles back up, but King KICKS his leg! And KICKS it again! King mocks Von but Von ROCKS King! King staggers, Von runs up but the boot gets stuck on ropes! King KICKS the leg, CHOPS and kicks Von more, then has the leg for a SHIN BREAKER! Then a DRAGON SCREW! King keeps on Von’s leg by puling it to the apron! King SLAMS the leg on the apron, then SLAMS it into the post! The fans boo, Stone is frustrated for Von but King pushes Von to a cover, ONE!!

Tatum and Lyra regroup backstage.

They finish watching the Kabuki Warriors highlight package like the rest of us, and Asuka was undefeated for a really long time. But imagine, Lyra & Tatum take the Women’s Tag Team Championships back to NXT. And that would also mean Lyra is a double champion! Tatum will always look out for Lyra. She’s a really good partner. Who told her that? Jaida walks in and says she was gonna feel bad for Gigi, given she’s about to whoop dat ass. But uh, y’all two? You’ll be embarrassed by Asuka & Kairi! Lyra keeps Tatum back, and Arianna Grace stands up. Ladies, we’re all supposed to be supportive role models who settle arguments with words.

Not everything has to end in a fight! What problem does Lyra have with the Kabuki Warriors? There is no problem. Then why challenge them to a fight? Because they wanna be tag champions, duh! They are all champions in their hearts and in their minds. Jaida says she’d rather have a title around her waist than some dumb tiara on her head. Arianna is upset, and Lyra says this is pro-wrestling. Fighting is the norm. Arianna says it is only normal until they change it. What is the pageant queen inspired to do now?

Dijak argues with Ava.

Gacy should be in a padded cell! He’s a maniac! Ava says Dijak’s the one who threw the guy in a dumpster! Gacy says Dijak may be done with him, but he’s not done with Dijak! Wait, Gacy’s the one behind the camera?! Gacy attacks, security rushes in to stop these two and Ava says they cannot keep doing this! What will it take for Dijak and Gacy to put this to rest?

Gigi Dolin VS Jaida Parker w/ OTM!

Speaking of titles, of course both ladies want their shot at the top title. To get up the ranks, they’ll have to go through each other. Will Jaida from the block do as she promised and whoop dat ass? Or will Gigi make Jaida respect the former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion?

Jaida whips, runs in, but into a BOOT! Fans rally, Gigi goes to another corner and Jaida runs in, Gigi BOOTS Jaida, runs up, gets around and ROCKS Jaida with forearm after forearm! The fans fire up but is that Arianna Grace making her way out here? She’s pleading with Gigi and Jaida to stop fighting? Gigi dodges Jaida to SHOTGUN her down! Gigi then lines up the shot to LARIAT! And wrench, and ROUNDHOUSE! Gigi reels Jaida in but they both see Arianna.

Jaida avoids Gigi’s ripcord lariat to ROCK and CHOP Gigi! Gigi ROCKS Jaida, CHOPS her and fires off fast hands! Arianna keeps begging, Gigi blocks Jaida’s shot to kick a leg out! Kawada Kicks! Arianna didn’t want anyone fighting, and now she costs Gigi the fight! Jaida still gets the win, will she be the one primed for a title shot? Arianna says that NXT needs to come together, but does she even understand what this sport is about? Or will Gigi have to slap some sense into her?

Waves are rolling in.

And in the sand is written, “See you soon.” Does this mean the Soul Surfer is on her way back to NXT?

NXT Media catches up with Shawn Spears.

They ask him why he struck Ridge down with a chair to the back, and The Chair Man says, “I like Ridge Holland. But he’s been lying to himself for far too long. That jolt of pain that’s currently coursing through his body is only the truth. That’s why I struck Ridge. The truth can bring you to your knees. And that’s why Shawn Spears is now in NXT. See you next week at Roadblock.” Then Roxie storms out, and doesn’t even wanna talk to anyone. The Chair Man promises to bring out the truth through pain, will Ridge have some “truth” planned for Spears in return? And will Roxie ever be in a good mood in NXT again?

Ilja Dragunov is back in the ring!

The NXT Champion is ready, as is Ava Raine, a table, and a contract. Carmelo once again makes his entrance, with his private security, and fans boo. Melo waits for his security to step up to the apron before he joins Dragunov and Ava in the ring. Each man has their seat at opposite ends, and Melo says this is more like it. They’ve got the contract, the boss, and now they’re speaking the same language. But hey, don’t get too intimidated by the security guards. Melo had to bring them out here for his protection. But he thanks Ava for coming, let’s get this show on the road. Melo has been without his NXT Championship for far too long. Next week at Roadblock, it will be a sweet reunion.

Dragunov tells Melo that they’ve been around each other close to eight months now, and Dragunov used to be shocked by Melo’s blatant transparency. But now he realized, it’s just who Melo is! Melo’s willingness to discard anyone or anything juts for the NXT Championship. Melo says absolutely. And it’s crazy hearing this coming from Dragunov, the same man who said he’d take Melo’s soul. Hey, man, the only difference between them is Melo is just colder about how he does things. It’s true! And Melo is going to- be interrupted by The Don? The fans cheer as Tony D’Angelo leads Stacks & Rizzo on stage, then has them stay back.

Tony goes down the ramp and joins everyone else in the ring. Tony says, “Excuse me, gentlemen and lady, but if you’re talking about big business, I gotta be included in the conversation. So let’s talk about it.” Melo says no, this has nothing to do with Tony, okay? If Tony says one more word, Melo’s security will take him outta here, don’t try him. Tony tells Melo to listen. “You don’t have to be HIM or the NXT Champion to make things move around here. There’s only one Don.” Tony snaps his fingers and security drops away! Melo is shocked, and Ava lets Tony have her seat. Melo seethes and Dragunov is amused.

Tony says, “So where was I? Oh that’s right. I can’t be the only one that sees the NXT title picture has been dominated by this Melo-Ilja-Trick saga for the past eight months. But in my opinion, there’s only one man that can flip this on its head, and it’s The Don of NXT. Now I got respect, I even like Trick.” Melo says don’t do all this, Tony. Tony tells Melo to NOT speak while he is talkin. The fans fire up for that one! Ava tells Melo to let Tony finish. Tony says Melo has had a full year to talk about the NXT Championship, and tony has heard it all. Melo is this, Melo is that, whatever, who cares?

Now, Tony isn’t done. Mr. Dragunov dresses like a champion, is intense, maybe a little too dramatic for Tony. But he’ll talk to Dragunov harshly because he can handle it. This might make some people a little uncomfortable, so Melo should put his earmuffs on. Tony will show the world and talk to Dragunov face to face and say that Tony is the man who wants to take the title from Dragunov, NOT Melo. Tony has earned everything he ever got, and anyone who ever crossed him earned everything they deserved. Melo mockingly applauds that. Tony wants them both to listen. Melo is here demanding a title match, but Tony is here telling us that he will EARN the match for Stand & Deliver.

The fans cheer that and Dragunov tells Mr. D’Angelo, he piques Dragunov’s interest. This is a man willing to work for his position, that Dragunov can respect. Tony says Ava agrees if Dragunov agrees. Next week, Roadblock, Melo VS Tony and the winner gets an NXT Championship match at Stand & Deliver. The fans like that, and Ava says they did have a conversation, and she did have a contract drafted for this scenario, should Dragunov agree to it. However, if Dragunov still wants the match with Melo, they just need Melo to sign his part. Dragunov says that actually, he wants nothing more in life than to see Melo earn something for the first time in his life!

The fans cheer as Dragunov says Tony, you’ve got a deal! But please, Whoop Dat Melo! The fans cheer as Tony and Dragunov shake hands. Melo can’t believe Ava is standing by this! This coward of a champion! Fans boo but Melo says fine. Tony can’t beat Melo anyway! This is the NXT Championship! If they need someone to take out the trash or book keep for a washed up school, Tony’s the guy for that. But when it comes to that title, Melo is The Don! Tony stands up to get in Melo’s face, Melo shoves Tony and Tony knocks Dragunov over! And then Melo sucker punches Tony! BACK SUPLEX through the table!!

Fans boo as Melo demands the contract. Ava hands it over, Melo laughs and signs his part. Melo puts the contract down on Tony then picks up Dragunov’s title to drop it on him. Will nothing stop HIM from getting back to the top? Or will he fail to get through the Roadblock?

My Thoughts:

An awesome NXT here with it being half go-home to Roadblock next week and half building towards Stand & Deliver on WrestleMania Saturday. Great stuff from the NXT Championship story, with the promos bookending the night as Melo wants a title shot. But I did like the plot twist that Tony D’Angelo jumps into the story. Melo VS Tony in a #1 contender’s match will be great stuff, but with Melo standing tall after the brawl, I bet Tony wins because Trick Williams makes a return to screw Melo over. Then we can get Melo VS Trick in a non-title grudge match while Tony takes on Dragunov.

Great stuff going on in the tag division with Good Brothers getting a good win but then having several teams coming after them. But of course they’re after Bron & Corbin. I feel like Bron & Corbin are gonna make it through Chase U, but then they might lose to Good Brothers at Stand & Deliver, bringing the Wolf Dogs to an end so Bron can go full-time SmackDown. And then if Good Brothers have the belts, they can take on Chase U, LWO, Frazer & Axiom and other teams for the Spring.

Dijak VS Luca was awesome stuff, especially with Luca really bringing it to Dijak. Gacy showing up was good stuff, too, and the Asylum Match is going to be wild stuff. Good promo from Oba wanting a challenger, good on Jensen for stepping up, but you can bet Jensen gets thrown around and loses. I wonder if seeing Jensen get beat up by Oba makes Briggs step up and that’s the North American Championship match for Stand & Deliver. Stone helping Von win over King was good, but King standing tall makes me think we get an even bigger match for King VS Von in a rematch. Maybe a tables match because that’s Von’s thing?

Great stuff in the NXT Women’s Division that went back and forth between the different stories. Really good match from Kelani VS Kiana with Kiana winning thanks to Izzi, and good match from Roxie and Jakara with Roxie getting the win with the submission. Jacy, Jazmyn, Kiana & Izzi could end up making an all women’s faction since Jacy & Jazmyn are all leaning Heel, and then Thea and Fallon are the Faces coming out of this story. And Jaida beating Gigi was to feed this new thing with Arianna wanting world peace in pro-wrestling, fitting of Arianna being so hilariously annoying. And great teaser from Sol Ruca, hopefully her return gets her back on track.

Then Lyra and Tatum getting a tag title shot is a fun little thing, but I would think Asuka & Kairi retain. This has to still steer things towards Lyra VS Tatum, the break-up is coming, I can feel it. And speaking of returns to NXT, holy crap Shawn Spears is back! That was probably the top moment of the night, especially for that live audience. I did not think those cryptic messages were from him, and Ridge being his first target is an interesting one. Granted, Ridge interrupting Lyra & Tatum was interesting, too. Is this to play to Shawn Spears’ point that Ridge isn’t really a good guy at all? I mean, the fans are gonna cheer Spears over Ridge so might as well go with it.

And great Heritage Cup match out of Dar VS Dempsey. I did not think they were going to have this match happen so soon, like NQCC was gonna test the waters with Myles, but then very clever stuff having NQCC out Heel the Heels in Meta Four. Though maybe NXT wants to pivot Meta Four to Faces and NQCC is the team to do it, but I honestly really like that Dempsey won all the same. Dempsey was probably gonna be Heritage Cup Champion before this had NXT UK continued, and he is certainly worthy of the Cup, can’t wait to see how this story goes moving towards Stand & Deliver.

My Score: 8.8/10
