Turn the corner towards the finals!

Fallout from the Bracket Finals!

As HPW’s Triforce Tournament moves past Bracket Finals into THE finals, we hear from both winners and losers ahead of the Triforce Anniversary!

After the HPW Goddess Championship #1 Contender’s Match.

Nabooru returns backstage.

The Gerudo Sisterhood cheers her on as she walks in and she thanks them. Nabooru says Tali is up next, she needs to be ready. Shabonne says Tali stays ready so she doesn’t have to get ready and Tali gets fired up. But then Ganon walks over, applauding. He’s accompanied by the Dark Forces’ Cia, both dressed in fashionable formal wear. Nabooru asks what they want and Ganon wants everyone to relax. He’s a lot of things, but he’s also still Gerudo. He applauds Nabooru’s victory, and wishes the rest of the group luck. Cia adds that she also wishes Nabooru luck against Ruto. “But it doesn’t really matter which ‘legend’ is the winner, because I’m next.”

Ganon & Cia both smile smugly as they leave. Shabonne says forget about them, tonight isn’t about them. “Tonight is about us!” “Sa’oten!” “Tonight is about this group of vai right here!” “Sa’oten!” “Tonight is about us making history!” “SA’OTEN!” Tali is fired up for real now, and she heads out. Sadly, we know how it turned out against Yunobo…

After the Bracket Finals…

Tali returns backstage.

The Dame of the Dunes coughs and sputters from Yunobo landing on her, but the frustration is clear on her face. She hits a table with her hand, Shabonne gets her some water to drink. Tali drinks up, but still frowns and shakes her head. Shabonne says it’s alright, Yunobo is big boy. That doesn’t seem to help Tali. She heads back to the locker room, will she be able to get over this frustration?

Zelda returns backstage.

The Princess of Hyrule sighs and sulks a bit after her loss to Aveil. Zelda has to give it to Aveil, though. Aveil got one up on her. She fought off the Impa Lock, withstood most of Zelda’s moves and avoided the Bolero of Fire. It may not be an issue of training harder for Zelda. Maybe she has to start from scratch? Zelda has a lot on her mind as she leaves, will she find the solution to her slump?

Aveil returns backstage.

The Desert Flower is in a much different mood than Tali after her upset victory over Zelda. She smiles and high-fives Riju and Buliara, but Tali is still in the locker room. Aveil wishes Riju luck and Riju heads out for her match, which we know was a success.

Skull Kid returns backstage.

With the Gerudo Sisterhood celebrating in the ring and closing out the show, Groose, Tingle & Ladrona are here to meet Skull Kid. Tingle says Skull Kid did great, but Skull Kid says if he really did great, he would’ve won. Groose says not to get down, his story is far from over. Skull Kid thinks about it, and sees what Groose means. He’s not giving up yet! Groose says that’s good, because guess what? “The Studly Don’t Quit!” And tada! New shirts!

HyruleProWrestlingFaction TSDQ blankoutline

They are TSDQ! They are The Studly! And The Studly will find their way to the top, no longer how long it takes! Skull Kid gets fired up as he tries on the shirt. If The Studly Don’t Quit, then will they be unstoppable?

My Thoughts:

Kinda threw this together real quick, but I realized I needed something to bridge the story from the Bracket Finals to the Triforce Anniversary. Especially after I was inspired to have Groose’s team parody a real faction now that it’s the four of them and not just a trio. The hardest part of that TSDQ logo was the S, though I did consider going much more square shaped with all the letters. But the Q would’ve looked weird to me if I tried to make that square shaped, so octagonal felt like the right call.

Bandwagon Nerds #245: Finales & The Future

The guys discuss the season finales for The Boys & The Acolyte, break down the final Deadpool 3 trailer, and speculate as to the Avengers possible future.

BWN returns this week just in time for the biggest two-week stretch in Nerdom in a very long time. This week saw the season finales of The Boys & The Acolyte. While we have come to expect the unexpected with The Boys, the Season 4 Finale pulled the rug out from everyone with one of the more shocking closing sequences we have seen in a while. Where this leaves us for the final season is anyone’s guess, but the guys try to make sense of it here. Meanwhile, Dave & Tunney touch on the season finale of the much-maligned The Acolyte. Did anything come out of the finale to redeem the series or, more importantly, warrant Disney giving it a second season? The final trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped this week as the biggest movie of the summer comes our way this Friday. The guys discuss the final trailer and speculate as to how much of a gate Deadpool & Wolverine might draw. All that plus more layoffs at Warner Brothers, disappointing news for the Halo franchise, and with San Diego Comic-Con also happening this week, is Marvel poised to bring back some familiar faces to herald in the next wave of Avengers movies?

Chairshot Radio Large

Musical Chairs returns for another excellent installment as we take a look at two more tremendous acts from the annals of music history. This week, Patrick chose Randy Newman. Equal parts songwriter and performer Randy Newman is one of the most celebrated songwriters of this, or any other, generation. In the later part of his career, he composed no less than nine Disney-Pixar films, and he has been nominated for 22 Academy Awards! Dave, meanwhile, chose one of the most iconic and controversial bands of all time…The Doors. Led by one of rock’s all-time great frontmen, Jim Morrison, The Doors redefined music in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Despite being under constant scrutiny…. including being banned in many parts of the nation… The Doors became legends and their music continues to be extremely popular even today.  Tune in this week and learn a few things about two hugely important fixtures of musical history!

Today’s hosts: Dave Ungar (@AttitudeAgg) and Patrick O’Dowd (@WrestlngRealist)
