Hyrule Puro-Resu and HXS set the scene!

A Hero of Hyrule has been crowned as Link of Kakariko won the Triforce Championship! But even that historic moment didn’t gain the biggest buzz from the event in Faron Woods. Fans, the media and the HPW locker room were all stunned to learn Sheik was Zelda all along! A press conference was held to announce the company’s stance on what happened, and it shook the wrestling world. For the first time in history, a world championship is open to both male and female wrestlers!

However, Zelda’s punishment is that she has been passed over by wrestlers who lost the Triforce Tournament. Based on overall records and performances in the 21 Man Battle Royal, HPW determined that Ghirahim Mazokucho and Igos du Ikana are worthy. These two of the best strikers in HPW today will battle, and the winner moves on to face Ganondorf Dragmire in a #1 contender’s match!

And speaking of the Battle Royal, The Groose is loose! The Skyloft Stud won the right to challenge King Baron Bulblin after surviving 20 other wrestlers, but Bulblin’s thugs almost eliminated him right after. Will Groose climb to the top of Death Mountain and hold up his first championship in Hyrule Puro-Resu? Or will Bulblin send him tumbling back down to the bottom? The climb up Death Mountain starts now!

HPW Triforce Championship #1 Contender’s Qualifyer: Ghirahim Mazokucho VS Igos du Ikana!

The Living Blade and the Ruler of Ruins had strong showings in the 21 Man Battle Royal in Faron Woods, and still have strong singles records despite losing the Triforce Tournament. But who will be stronger in this showdown of strikers?

The bell rings and the two circle. They approach but Ghirahim dodges and struts past Igos. Igos keeps his cool as he and Ghirahim circle again. They approach but again, Ghirahim avoids Igos and struts to a corner. Ghirahim pretends to not understand why fans are booing. Igos heads over but Ghirahim uses the ropes as defense. Ghirahim shouts for the ref and the ref keeps Igos back, only for Ghirahim to get in a cheap shot! Ghirahim clubs Igos on the back and stomps him down. The ref backs Ghirahim off, and Ghirahim soaks up the heat as fans boo. Ghirahim kicks Igos while he’s down and then stomps him at the ropes. The ref backs Ghirahim off again but Ghirahim comes back for more.

Ghirahim throws kicks and punches, but Igos ducks the enziguri. Igos kicks back, throws punches then question mark kicks. Igos moves to boot but Ghirahim scorpion kicks! Ghirahim headlocks then hammerlocks then headlocks back. He throws Igos for the takeover but Igos headscissors. Ghirahim pops out but roles reverse as Igos headlocks and throws Ghirahim. Ghirahim headscissors but Igos pops out. Igos swings a kick but Ghirahim gets under. Ghirahim swings a kick but Igos ducks under, too. Both men roundhouse! They both stagger, but Igos leaps to knee! Igos grabs Ghirahim for a dragon sleeper but Ghirahim drops and snapmares Igos off. Ghirahim chinlocks but Igos slips out and ROCKS Ghirahim with a back hand.

Igos whips but Ghirahim reverses. Igos dodges then springboards, QUEBRADA! Direct hit! Igos watches Ghirahim flounders up, and spins back! Ghirahim narrowly avoids Elegy of Emptiness and bails out of the ring. Igos waits as Ghirahim throws a tantrum, kicking the railing. Ghirahim tells fans to shut up while he goes around the way. Ghirahim goes back into the ring and circles with Igos again. They tie up this time, and Ghirahim wrenches to a wristlock. Igos steps in to reverse the wrench but Ghirahim reverses it back. Ghirahim CHOPS Igos and laughs as it echoes out. But Igos CHOPS right back! Ghirahim glares as he CHOPS back! Igos CHOPS, Ghirahim CHOPS and we have a CHOP fight!

Fans fire up as the two men pick up speed! CHOP for CHOP, neither man is backing down, and the fans are rallying! Ghirahim, Igos, repeat! They stop to catch their breath, before Ghirahim comes back with more! They go back and forth again a few more times, but they’re not done. Igos chops, Ghirahim chops, repeat! How many times have they chopped in this match!? Neither man wants to stop before the other, despite the stinging and redness of their chests! Ghirahim gets Igos on his knees and just keeps going! Ghirahim runs but Igos follows to CHOP one more time! Igos dares Ghirahim to keep going, so Ghirahim gives another chop. Fans fire up as Igos just nods and CHOPS again! Ghirahim shakes it off to CHOP. Igos staggers but comes back to CHOP! And we begin the cycle all over again!

Ghirahim staggers and Igos just adds on. Igos whips corner to corner then boots Ghirahim. He whips Ghirahim but Ghirahim reverses to clothesline. Ghirahim rolls Igos and runs, into a CHOP! Fans cheer the furious exchange while Ghirahim is down. Igos clutches the stinging part of his chest as he looms over Ghirahim. He lifts Ghirahim’s head with a foot, but Ghirahim pushes the leg away to ROCK Igos with a forearm! Ghirahim reels Igos in, SNAP SAIDO! Cover, TWO! Ghirahim grows frustrated but he keeps on Igos. He clamps on with a chinlock but Igos endures. Fans rally up as Igos fights to his feet. Igos fights out with body shots but Ghirahim knees low. Ghirahim snapmares and runs but Igos ducks the Penalty Kick. Igos kips up, back elbows Ghirahim then starts up the Ikana Rush again. Igos runs but Ghirahim follows!

Ghirahim trips Igos up then drags him out to RAM him into railing! Ghirahim CHOPS Igos against the railing and again tells fans to shut up as they boo. He CHOPS Igos again, but then Igos turns it around and KICKS Ghirahim against the railing! And again! The ring count passes 5 but Igos puts Ghirahim in. Igos clamps onto an arm but Ghirahim rolls, spins and boots Igos away. Ghirahim kips up and whips Igos but Igos reverses. Ghirahim ducks the kick and springboards, into a KNEE! Cover, ROPEBREAK! Ghirahim survives and drags himself to the apron. Igos drags Ghirahim up but Ghirahim hotshots him! Igos staggers and Ghirahim step-springboards in, into ELEGY OF EMPTINESS!! Cover, Igos wins!!

Winner: Igos du Ikana, by pinfall (qualifies for the Triforce Championship #1 Contender’s match)

The stronger striker strikes and takes the win! But can the Ruler of Ruin trump the Gerudo Ace?

HPW Death Mountain Championship: King Baron Bulblin VS Groose!

The Skyloft Stud stood tall over 20 others, and now aims to stand higher than ever! The Horde has been banned from ringside, can the Blubber King stand tall when he stands alone?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and the climb begins!

Bulblin immediately powers Groose to a corner! He rams his shoulder into Groose’s ribs again and again! The ref counts but Bulblin stops at 4. He runs corner to corner to RAM into Groose again! Bulblin grinds his shoulder in as the ref counts, and again lets up at 4. Bulblin pushes Groose around, toying with him already. Groose SLAPS Bulblin back, but Bulblin just laughs. Bulblin kicks Groose low then clubs him hard on the back. Bulblin puts Groose in a corner to whip him corner to corner hard. Groose hits buckles and staggers out, only for Bulblin to run him over! Bulblin laughs again as he gives toying kicks to Groose’s head. Bulblin mocks the very pointy pompadour while he looms over Groose. Groose throws body shots but Bulblin stomps him down.

Bulblin soaks up the heat from the fans, but he does have some supporters. Bulblin drags Groose up to whip to ropes but Groose dodges the clothesline. Groose comes back with a big forearm! Bulblin staggers but stays up, so Groose runs again. Groose throws another big forearm but Bulblin still stays up. Groose whips but Bulblin reverses, only for Groose to crossbody! He topples Bulblin over and covers, TWO! Groose watches Bulblin closely as Bulblin flounders to a corner. Groose runs in and hits a big knee! He goes corner to corner and hits another big knee! Groose goes corner to corner a third time and hits the Skyloft Lariat! Groose pushes Bulblin away as he slips out to the apron. Bulblin staggers as Groose climbs up top. Groose ax handles Bulblin down and fans fire up!

Bulblin flounders to ropes and grits his teeth. He growls as he storms over to Groose, but he walks right into a JAB! Fans shout “GROOSE!” with every punch! Groose jabs and jabs and jabs, then a little flip, flop and fly, but Bulblin blocks the Bionic Elbow! Bulblin choke grips and lifts, but Groose slips out! Groose JABS again! And again! And again! Groose winds up but Bulblin denies the Right Hand of the Goddess with a SPINE BUSTER! Cover, TWO! Bulblin grows frustrated and argues with the ref, but goes back after Groose. Bulblin puts Groose on the ropes and chokes him! The fans boo and the ref counts, but Bulblin lets up at 4. Bulblin mocks the fans before going back to Groose. He whips Groose at a corner but Groose reverses, only for Bulblin to slide out then in. But Groose avoids the lariat, to LARIAT!

Both men are down but fans rally up. Groose is up first and he dares Bulblin to stand. Bulblin gets up and Groose underhooks the arms. Groose turns Bulblin but Bulblin pushes Groose away. Bulblin BOOTS Groose, but Groose rebounds to BOOT back! Groose fires up and fans fire up with him! He grabs Bulblin’s legs, and starts up the Sky Spin! They go around and around and around, for a count of 20! Groose then catapults Bulblin at buckles! Bulblin hits hard, and Groose underhooks the arms! Groose turns Bulblin with the double chicken wing, but again Bulblin powers out! Groose rushes back, into DEEP SIX! Cover, TWO! Bulblin is again frustrated and arguing with the ref. The ref tells him the count is the count, and Bulblin goes back to Groose. Groose rolls Bulblin up! TWO!! Bulblin choke grips and lifts Groose for a SIT-OUT CHOKE SLAM! Cover, TWO!! Groose survives and Bulblin is furious!

Bulblin stomps away on Groose at the ropes until the ref backs him off. Groose slumps out of the ring and Bulblin wants to go out after him, but the ref keeps him back. The ref starts a ring count but Bulblin goes out the side. Bulblin runs around the way, and BLASTS Groose into barriers! Bulblin roars as he leaves Groose behind. The ring count begins again as Bulblin paces in the ring. Fans rally and Groose starts to stir at 5. Groose crawls towards the ring at 7. Groose stands up at 8, wobbles at 9, but jumps in at 9.5! And Bulblin is right on him! Fans boo as he stomps away but Bulblin boos them back. Bulblin drags Groose up and reels him in, but Groose slips out! Groose ducks the punch, goes to run, but Bulblin pulls him back in! Bulblin whips but Groose holds ropes. Bulblin boots but Groose gets under. Bulblin gets stuck on the ropes, RIGHT HAND OF THE GODDESS!! Cover, GROOSE WINS!!

Winner: Groose, by pinfall (NEW HPW Death Mountain Champion)

He has done it! The Skyloft Stud has risen to the summit and struck gold! Groose has a big smile on his face as the referee puts the belt around his waist. Fans cheer as Groose is handed the mic to speak.

“Everyone! I did it!” Fans cheer as Groose raises a hand victoriously. Groose continues to say that he’s very thankful to the fans for supporting him and coming out to see the show. He says it’s always been a dream to be champion, and to be Death Mountain Champion because of what it has represented. This title belongs to Hyrule Puro-Resu now but has been around much longer. Many great wrestlers have held it, and he is honored to join that list. “I just wish it wasn’t so ugly.” Groose knows the current design is Death Mountain from above but it looks more like someone cut open an orange or a pomegranate. Maybe he can talk with management about making a new design.

Groose says that he hopes to be in front of fans in the main event again and understands he is lucky to be in the main event right now. He vows to be the best Death Mountain Champion ever, because that is what the fans deserve. Fans deserve more than a champion who has henchmen like Bulblin! They deserve more than a champion that boasts and finds ways to avoid defending his title! They deserve… Actually, it seems fans just deserve more than Bulblin. And Groose already beat Bulblin so he’s already succeeding! But Groose won’t stop there, so he hops the fans continue to support him. He thanks the fans and takes a bow as the streamers fly! Will Groose become the best Death Mountain Champion Hyrule has ever seen?

But wait! Someone attacks Groose at the ramp! It’s Ghirahim! Ghirahim returns to go after the new champion! Ghirahim puts Groose in the ring and continues after him! The ref shouts at Ghirahim as he stomps and hammers Groose down. Ghirahim smothers Groose with streamers then pulls the belt off him. He shouts at Groose, “This should be MY championship! These should be MY streamers! This should be MY main event!” Groose took all of that from him! “You don’t deserve any of this, you pointy haired pinhead!” Fans boo Ghirahim while Groose starts to get up. Ghirahim throws the belt down and runs to springboard, GHIRA CUTTER! Fans boo even more while Ghirahim grabs up a bunch of streamers and takes them with him. Ghirahim is taking “his streamers” tonight, but will he take the title from Groose, too?

My Thoughts:

Who predicted Ghirahim losing? Did anyone bother guessing? Did you all at least enjoy reading the match? Was it obvious what match I borrowed ideas from there? Honestly I really loved that match, so I really wanted to pay homage to it with this fictional one. And not to toot my own horn, but Ghirahim losing again to then snap on Groose is just good storytelling. Ghirahim lost to Link in the tournament, lost to Groose in the Battle Royal, and then lost to Igos du Ikana here tonight. Ghirahim doesn’t like blemishes on his record and so he goes after Groose as a champion he can go after. And as seen in many promotions throughout history, a Heel rains on a Face’s parade to get heat, so of course he overshadows Groose’s accomplishment.

Now, I’m planning on getting the next “event” ready for June, because I am totally (and honestly, for me, surprisingly) working to make this a thing. I would love feedback, maybe some ideas, especially from some hardcore Legend of Zelda fans. And speaking of, I promise the character Zelda will have way more to do on the road to June.

Mitchell’s Hyrule Puro-Resu News Report! (5/1/24)

The Gerudo Sisterhood is (not) fine.

Published

on

Mayday! Mayday!

The Triforce Anniversary did not go their way, and now The Gerudo Sisterhood sits down to talk it out. Will things (not) be okay again?

The Gerudo Sisterhood meet up.

In Gerudo Town, Riju sits in the throne room, Buliara by her side. Aveil, Nabooru and Urbosa arrive together. Riju asks where Tali and Shabonne are, and Aveil says she has no idea. Nabooru and Urbosa also don’t know, no one’s heard from either all month. Did she go back to sand seal racing? Nabooru checked around the track, checked the Great Dunes, no one there had seen her, either. Is Tali feeling that guilty about the spear? Everyone watched the tape back, it was by accident, she has nothing to feel bad about.

The group argues about that a bit. Tali went out there when she wasn’t supposed to. And even if it was an accident, she should still apologize, shouldn’t she? That’s a good point. Well, for now, they’ll just have to wait until Tali comes to them. For now, everyone needs to turn their attention to what’s coming: ThunderStruck.

The Gerudo Sisterhood double check the match card.

An Open Challenge for the Death Mountain Championship starts things off. Nabooru and Aveil tried to get that spot, but it seems someone already called their shot. Who do they think it was? Urbosa says, “Does it really matter? The Sisterhood will be right on the heels of the winner either way.” The others are all for that. Then The Dark Forces seem to be making moves. Cia has Ganon by her side, but who will Ruto have? Between Fin Balure and Bad Croc Scaly, she’s got strong choices, and Arrow Club could even parlay this tag match into a shot at the Termina Championship.

How’d Arrow Club figure out how to avoid Blood & Thunder this year? That’s anyone’s guess, but watching the UnderWorld Order battle it out with the rest of the Dark Forces will be just as much fun for the Sisterhood as it will be for the HPW Trios Champs. Kevin Gibdo, Volga, Zant and Wizzro aren’t exactly the friendliest bunch, but hopefully they give ReDead, Scaldera, Gomess & Death Sword the beating they deserve for all their underhanded moves. And it’d keep them from getting another chance at the HPW Trios titles at that.

The sore spot is the Triforce World Championship match. Yunobo has his shot at the title, and again Tali’s involvement in the Triple Threat cost the Sisterhood. But Link’s a three-time HPW Triforce Champion for a reason. For one, he won the Hyrule Warriors match, and he won the Eventide Challenge. Buliara points out that the other reason is that he lost the title along the way. If things come in threes, then will he lose a third time? Personally, Riju hopes not. She only survived that Beat the Clock Challenge against Link, and wants to settle things in a proper match. That’s also something the Sisterhood can get behind.

There’s thunder in the distance and they all look out the window to see a storm rolling across the desert. Thundra Plateau awaits, but who will rumble their way to victory?

My Thoughts:

Hooray for a hype article! Just imagine this as a really cool vignette video you’d see a major company put out. Also, I did need to keep the story of the Gerudo Sisterhood going, don’t want that slipping through the cracks. I’m feeling some intrigue as we move deeper into the Spring, this should be fun.
