Hulk Hogan Addresses Wrestlers Who Haven’t Accepted His Apology

Published

on

Since being reinstated back into the WWE Hall Of Fame and issuing an apology to the company’s locker room backstage at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh prior to the Extreme Rules pay-per-view on July 15th, there have still been a number of wrestling personalities, including those under contract to WWE who have not entirely forgiven Hulk Hogan for his racist remarks that got him in hot water back in 2015.

Notably, the members of The New Day (find that here) and Titus O’Neil (read his comments here) addressed the situation stating that they do not fully forgive Hogan for his remarks. Meanwhile, WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry spoke on Hulk’s return (check that out here), having the opposite feeling of his WWE cohorts.

While appearing on an episode of Bill Apter’s new The Apter Chat Podcast, Hogan discussed his thoughts on those that are not forgiving him after his apology:

“A lot of people accepted my apology and a lot of people heard what they wanted to hear and a lot of the narrative that came out of the meeting was on point. A lot of the narrative was really different. I was surprised to hear some people interpreted what I said that I was just sorry I got caught on camera or whatever they interpreted, but I never said that.

I just hope the brotherhood can get back to the way it was. Outside the ring, you’re supposed to protect your brother. In this case, it’s a situation where 75, 80, 90 percent of the wrestlers are protecting me and they’re giving me another chance to move forward. There’s just a few wrestlers that kinda like, don’t understand the bond and the brotherhood of wrestling. If someone makes a mistake, you need to forgive them and move on and try to let them prove themselves.”

WWE News: Seth Rollins Explains Why He Was ‘Upset’ With Crowd At Extreme Rules

Published

on

It’s been just over a month now since the WWE’s last pay-per-view, Extreme Rules, back on July 15th that featured a 30-Minute Ironman match main event for the Intercontinental Championship between Seth Rollins and the titleholder, Dolph Ziggler. While it was certainly a good match, the biggest story coming out of it was the crowd reaction as they were seemingly more focused on counting down with the match timer for every minute than the action inside the ring.

Many fans were displeased with how the Pittsburgh crowd treated the contest, as well as the participants themselves (go here for Dolph and Seth’s thoughts while in the ring). While speaking with CBS’ In This Corner Podcast this week, ‘The KingSlayer’ elaborated on his feelings about it, stating that he was “upset” with how it played out:

“I think upset is the right way to put it. People are like, ‘did you get mad?’ Naw dude, I just get sad because I love performing and I love having that synergy with the crowd and when they’re, you know paying attention to something else, inexplicably really, it’s frustrating from a performance perspective. Especially when you know you’re in the main event of a pay-per-view for the Intercontinental Championship, it hasn’t been done in twenty-odd years and it’s the match that you know, most people in the building paid money to see, to begin with.

So it still doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t get it. I can’t imagine myself paying money to go to some sort of show or game or concert or something and you know and not paying attention to what’s going on. Again, you know they did buy their tickets they’re allowed to do whatever they wanna do with their time. So it’s sort of a double-edged sword in that sense. They can do what they want, but yeah it definitely makes you question your own validity in that spot.”

EA’s Take: I, for one, am with you Seth. For me watching at home, I found it to be incredibly disrespectful to the performers in the ring and it did not come across well on television. On top of that, all they did was make themselves look like idiots and ruin their credibility as fans. So many people piss and moan about seeing the same people in the main event all the time, so WWE gives you what you seemingly have asked for and that’s how you repay it. Why would they bother listening to the fans again if that’s how they are going to act? The problem is that so many people feel they are in the “majority” without realizing they’re actually in the “minority”.
