WWE News: Preview Tonight’s SmackDown Live & 205 Live (8/21/18)

Published

on

Following SummerSlam this past Sunday and last night’s newest Monday Night RAW, WWE’s SmackDown Live gets its chance to take over the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York tonight with a couple of matches previously announced for the blue brand.

After taking SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers to the limit at SummerSlam before Rowan decided to save the titles by using his mallet to get disqualified, The New Day will get another shot at winning the championships on SmackDown Live in a No Disqualification match. Also, after weeks of being ambushed and run down by ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy gets his chance at revenge. Here’s a look at what else is happening on the blue brand, live at 8PM EST on the USA Network:

  • The New Day challenges The Bludgeon Brothers for the SmackDown Tag Titles in a No DQ match
  • Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton will finally go one-on-one
  • Why did Becky Lynch turn her back on her friend Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam?
  • An exclusive interview with WWE Champion AJ Styles
  • Will Daniel Bryan be out for payback on The Miz?

As is the case every week, the WWE’s Cruiserweight Division will take over the WWE Network immediately following SmackDown for 205 Live. Here’s what you can expect when the high-flyers hit the air at 10PM EST:

  • Buddy Murphy & Tony Nese take on Lucha House Party in Tornado Tag Team action

All In News: Cody Says An Offer Was Made To CM Punk For All In

Published

on

CM Punk 2

The Cody and Young Bucks produced All In event is now less than two weeks away from the Sears Centre in Chicago, Illinois next Saturday, September 1st.

While it looks as though the entirety of the card for the show has now been set, speculation regarding a possible appearance by former WWE Superstar CM Punk continues. Of course Punk resides in Chicago and will also be doing a signing at the Pro Wrestling Tees store that weekend in the same vicinity as the event.

Cody spoke with WrestlingInc today about the highly anticipated show, revealing that he did indeed make an offer for Punk to be at All In, but Punk declined:

“Yes, I mean I talked to [Punk] just vaguely. He even at one point said ‘Nobody’s asked me’ — hey here’s how much we’ll pay you and here’s who you’ll wrestle.

Matt [Jackson] actually made a full offer or full pitch for his services and I think Punk is focused on the Mixed Martial Arts element of his career. One of the reasons we didn’t first come out and say, ‘Here’s who we want you to wrestle’, because I think we just wanted him to be a part of the event for a lot of fans, he’s captured their imagination even with the amount of time he’s been gone. He has a mythical presence to them. I thought it would be good for him to connect with them, but that’s me, you know?

Nobody owns Punk but Punk, so if he wants to do Mixed Martial Arts, go for it. He was always very nice to me and helpful to me in OVW. I always looked at All In with the perspective that it’s about the present and future of the industry and not really about cheap pops, even though I’m sure they’ll be plenty of those on the show. Matt had reached out to [Punk] and made him a real offer. I think Punk is set on not being part of it.”
